I bought the matching GE Microwave and Range four years ago. After three years of usage, the plastic on the handle melted and peeled, making it very uncomfortable to open the door. It was caused by heat from the GE range below. It took months to replace and cost almost $150.

I wish I had seen this site first. I purchased a dishwasher. It didnt even make it 6 months. Took a month to fix and then 3 months later broke right before Thanksgiving. It is now Friday before Christmas still not fixed. GE is closed. The repairman and GE both lie and said it would be fixed before Christmas. Do not purchase anything GE. They do not stand behind their products. The products are poorly made and dont last. Ive had several dishwashers over the years. This is the first GE and it will be the last. You will have to wait over an hour for on hold to reach anyone and even then they just dont care. Save your money. Buy a didnt brand.

GE factory services uses rude, discriminatory, evasive, procrastinating and unethical business practices to limit customers from claiming warranty. We have a non functioning dishwasher which is under warranty. This came as part of the appliance package given to us by the builder (Hallmark Homes) when we bought the house in December 2017. When we contacted GE customer service to let them know that the dishwasher wont work, they gave us a date after 2 weeks for sending their service professional. After 2 weeks, their service professional came in and behaved in an extremely rude and racist manner shouting at the top of his voice for the inconvenience caused to him for coming to repair the appliance. After connecting his computer to the appliance, he said it was fixed and left without even checking if the appliance was working correctly. Even after repeated requests to check the functioning of the device before leaving, he threatened to be physically violent if we still pestered him to stay. After he left, we realized that the dishwasher wasnt fixed when we ran a wash cycle. We again contacted the customer service to let them know that the issue isnt fixed and requested them to expedite things to get it fixed. They said that we will get the next date for a service appointment again after two weeks and there is nothing they could do. After living the nightmare of washing dishes for more than a month, the same service professional came in again and repeating his similar rude, racist, unethical and threatening behavior left without fixing the issue. He said that GE appliance is not owned by GE anymore and hence nobody cared about what happens to the customers. He again passed the buck to the customer service and said I needed to take up this issue with them. In this whole back and fort, we are left devastated without having our dishwasher and living the nightmare for more than a month.

Ive had this stainless steel GE Dishwasher model GDF645SMONES with the controls in the front for nearly a year. The dishwasher constantly comes on with the slightest accidental touch. However the buttons that control the cycle settings are extremely difficult to operate to cancel the lock or delay hours features. I have to literally bang on the buttons to get a response. My thumbs are now sore from the constant pushing to cancel that lock and delay features that came on accidentally. Once locked, good luck in canceling anything. Im so disgusted with this $600 dishwasher. Complaints to GE and the so-called warranty company that turned out to be one and the same, have fallen on deaf ears from the day I got it. Do yourself a huge favor, do NOT buy this dishwasher. Customer service is awful.

My GE Washing machine did everything it was supposed to do, especially in cleaning clothes and very few if any machine problems and they last years and years, mine was 15 years old. It kept surprising me because it ran so smoothly, truly cleaned my clothes and ran forever. The Dryer couldn't keep up with my old washer, had to buy a newer more expensive machine that couldn't dry at 8 years old. I loved my reliable GE washer.

We have had to repair new appliances, the fridge and the dishwasher. The ice maker doesnt work and the water flows only when it feels like it. We paid good money for the Profile models in the new home. There were four repairs before these mentioned. Now we refuse to fix them any more. We will buy another brand next. We would never recommend this to anyone. Its sad for the company to produce such problem appliances for people. Obviously, they are not interested in repeat business. Now, there is this recall! Generally ok, but the entire wash cycles take way too long. Certainly much longer than the older models. I guess thats more or less the case with most dishwashers today. It makes me hesitant to use the dishwasher when I consider all the energy it takes to function. I would prefer having a setting for speedier rinse/wash of just a few dishes.

We purchased this GE dishwasher in October of 2017 when we built our house. Over the past few months we noticed our hardwood floors looking like they were rolling. This week we noticed a small amount of water seeping from under the cabinet. We pulled the dishwasher out and saw a very slow leak from a part of the dishwasher. Called GE and was told it was no longer under warranty. Explained leak has had to have been going on for months so should fall under warranty. Was told because we didn’t notice probably would not be. Sending tech which I will have to pay for to see if he can tell how long been leaking. More to come after visit. So far not happy.

Fact no. 1: On 02/25/07, I supplanted a burnt-out 12-year old Kenmore microwave oven. Regretfully, my replacement of choice is a GE JES1456WJ02 unit acquired at Home Depot in Cumberland. At that stage, my spouse was afflicted with an advanced case of Parkinsons disease, and eventually, I had her concerned caregiver reporting having found chips of paint spread on food extracted from the new oven. From that point onward, I established a close watch of the infamous appliance, after confirming that the chipping paint originated from the roof of the GE oven. But I withheld from filing a claim with GE at the time because my wifes health deterioration absorbed all my attention.Fact no. 2: But on 12/12/09, a couple of months after my beloved one passed away, I decided to take the oven to a Home Depot claim department where they immediately agreed to replace the defective unit for another one of similar characteristics. With a sigh of relief, thinking that I had taken care of the problem, my assumption was incorrect.Fact no. 3: Today, 10/28/11 in fact, I discovered chips of paint floating over a plate of soup extracted from the GE oven. I was aghast! I couldnt believe it! Still, further inspection determined that the lousy internal coat of paint is likewise peeling off from this monstrosity appliance manufactured by GE.

We have a five-year old GE Profile Microwave that has an LCD panel. It is a nice feature, but it has become unresponsive to touch and now will cost us $500 to replace the LCD panel. We will just buy a KitchenAid instead. The LCD panel is not sealed, so when you cook, even using the exhaust fan, the moisture gets up in there and damages the panel. This is such a terrible design. We paid $600 for this microwave thinking it is a good quality appliance. Never buy GE! I was in Best Buy yesterday and told people who were there looking at microwaves. Terrible quality! We have to purchase a whole new microwave hood range now.

Two years ago, I replaced my 25-year-old GE bottom-of-the-line dishwasher because it made a noise like a freight train. I was ecstatically happy to have a brand new top-of-the-line stainless steel GE Profile dishwasher that hardly made a sound while working. Well, that is the best part of the new machine because it also hardly cleans. We have tried different detergents, additives, etc. We have checked our water temp, pressure, etc. Not only does the machine not clean all the silverware/dishes, it doesnt dissolve and remove all of the liquid detergent, so I have to run the machine through another rinse cycle. We are so frustrated in my house that we have finally given up and now hand wash our dishes. I hate this dishwasher and would never buy another GE product again! I also had an issue with a GE bottom freezer fridge. But thats another story. By the way, the old 25-year-old machine? It always got my dishes clean.

I purchased a GE Spacemaker Microwave model JVM 1750SP1SS from Best Buy in October of 2011. Just a few months after having the microwave, the handle came off. I called GE and they sent a technician and fixed it but it left scratches on the stainless steel. In addition, we have had problems with the turntable. Finally on March of 2013, the keypad went out. This of course is past the one-year warranty. I called GE and they told me that they could schedule a service call for $89.95 plus parts and labor. I told them that I could buy another microwave from another company for less than that would probably cost. This microwave was made in Malaysia. I would not recommend any GE appliances that are not made in the US.

The store where we bought it has been fantastic, but theyve been out 5 times to try to fix this sucker and they cant. Theyre sending the repair guy out yet again one week before the warranty expires so he can call them and theyll talk about it while hes here. Ill never buy another GE appliance again.

I like many other people have had issues with the keypad malfunctioning. The first one shattered the first time I used the microwave, I then replaced it 2 years later and now another 3 years the second one stopped working. GE was rude when I talked to them, said they had no record of my replacement keypads even though I contacted them directly and were offering another for $514. That is no deal, I could get one in the store for that price. Also, the icemaker and water dispenser in my GE Cafe french door refrigerator are constantly malfunctioning, my range keypad does not always work, and the seal around my dishwasher keeps coming off! Im just beginning the process of investigating this dishwasher I bought that doesnt work. I am a snowbird so this machine has only been used part time for a family of 2. We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

I purchased my machine in 2019. The only concern I have with this machine is that I’m never sure of the amount of water that fills the tub with some features that I’m not used to. The tub on this machine enables me to wash very large loads including my queen size quilt. After washing, my clothes are practically dried which cuts down on my electric bill for the dryer. The drain and spin feature allows for a drier finish. Everything else is good. As long as you’re using the right soap the clothes are the cleanest.

We moved into our home just over a year ago. We replaced all of the kitchen appliances; refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher with GE slate gray appliances. This was in November, 2014. On New Years eve (2016), the dishwasher flooded the kitchen. I removed the kick panel and saw water pouring from the pump. After the holiday, we finally got in touch with the appliance repair shop who handles GE warranty work in our area. They contacted GE on our behalf to see if GE would stand behind a product that was just over 1 month out of warranty. Bear in mind, this wasnt something simple like an indicator light burning out, this failure was catastrophic. GE basically told them (and us) to pound sand. We are a 2 person family. The dishwasher was used maybe twice a week during the year weve owned it. Amazing quality! Now Im looking forward to watching the rest of this stuff fall apart. It looks like the life span of the product and the warranty period are the same. How handy for GE. They must not have to depend on repeat business or take these negative reviews seriously.

My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS)
My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS) at 9 pm, 2/4/13. At 11 pm, he emptied and put away the dishes. At midnight, we went to bed. At 4:50 am on 2/5/13, we were awakened by a burning smell and discovered the heating element of the dishwasher either turned back on or never turned off. We were unable to touch the granite counter, the front of the dishwasher, and both wooden cabinets on either side of the dishwasher were very warm. The spinning arms and other plastic parts were melted. The only way it could be turned off was to unplug it from the outlet in the cabinet. We were leaving for the airport at 7:30 am on 2/5/13, so needless to say, we would have lost our home if this occurred a couple of hours later. The Assurant tech said it was repairable and ordered a part, which would take at least a week. Assurant customer service had us call GE. When we stated we didnt want the faulty dishwasher repaired, but wanted a new dishwasher, the best the GE customer service rep could offer us was 38-40% off several new different Profile dishwashers. After reading page after page of bad reviews, most of which detail either one or multiple fires from different GE dishwashers, we dont even want another GE dishwasher in our home. We already needed the smart soap dispenser replaced, since it clogs periodically and doesnt wash dishes very well. We also have a countertop GE Profile microwave, and the turntable motor has gone out 3 times so far. Weve purchased the replacement motors ourselves since it isnt under Assurant insurance. Not sure what the resolution will be on the dishwasher, but wed be happy if GE would give us at least $500 toward a different brand dishwasher. I know well never ever buy another GE appliance after this. We wouldnt sleep at night or ever want to go out of the house without unplugging another GE dishwasher, so dont want one.

We normally purchase LG appliances but this time we purchased a GE Profile induction range and GE Profile above range microwave oven. The relay went out on the microwave oven about six months after we got them. Their website for scheduling service is absolutely horrible and didn’t work multiple times and when I was finally able to schedule, it was two weeks out. I then called but was told I couldn’t get an earlier appointment. So we waited the two weeks, then they had to order the relay. GE waited until the part was delivered to us to schedule the return visit - over 2 1/2 weeks later! So at this point we are without our new microwave for over a month and a half. Moral of the story is never ever to tempted to buy from GE, LG appliances & cust service are great.

I purchased the dishwasher in August. In September, two months later, it would not drain. GE sent a service tech out under warranty who found food particles stuck in the drain pump, removed them, put the dishwasher back together and went on his way. Since then, we have been basically rinsing the dishes clean before even putting them into the dishwasher as, obviously, this dishwasher cant handle much. I have also been keeping the drain filter screen spotless. Two months later, the drain is clogged again. GE sent a second tech out who said that the first tech should have repaired the dishwasher. The problem is that GE knows that the drain pump screen and the filter screens are inadequate and let food to pass through and block the pump. GE has redesigned the pump and the screens and filters and even added a filter to the design and we will get all these new parts installed for free and the dishwasher will then work as it should. Tech ordered the parts on 12/21. The service call was scheduled for tomorrow, 12/27. I got a call today from GE saying the parts had not been delivered. I know this because they are being shipped to my house and they have not arrived. GE called to reschedule the service call to January 6th, 2020--another week and a half away!!!! Clearly, this dishwasher is not working as it should and GE has a problem on their hands. I am now weighing my options as I sit on hold on GEs Customer Service line as I wait for someone to complain to. But as the dishwasher is still only a few months old, I am tempted to load it up and bring it back to the big box retailer from whom I purchased it and demand a refund. This is ridiculous!!!!

This morning, they came by to install and essentially rebuild the entire system with the exception of the stainless steel. Overall, we are very happy with the outcome. With all the negative issues GE experiences online with regard to the Cafe Series, I give them a solid 8 for responsiveness and taking care of the situation. We moved into a new home in June of 2011 with the appliances already included. Ours came equipped with a GE, over-the-range microwave, model JVM1540DP1WW, manufactured in Malaysia, in April of 2010. Within several months, the revolving platter began to make a bumping noise while turning and then it eventually quit turning altogether. Five service calls later, we had the platter motor replaced, circuit board and four fan motors (apparently the platter has voltage supplied from that fan to make it run) and it still didnt work.It was taken back to the shop and eventually the problem was traced to a loose wire on a terminal connector. After a month of operation, it is again beginning to make the bumping noise while the platter turns. To top it off, Consumer Reports (the March issue) deals with problematic microwaves, especially the GE model and the unexpected fires that can occur. In addition, they can be susceptible to (not always however and only on certain models) wireless transmissions which could potentially cause them to start on their own. I know for a fact that it knocks off my XM Satellite Radio when it is running. Bottom line...its history and will be replaced with a check rated appliance before I too have a major problem.

We purchased a GE Cafe Dishwasher in Oct. 2013, and in Nov 2014 we had a major leak that ruined our hardwood floor. We called GE and they authorized a repair even though our Dishwasher was 1 month beyond the 1 year warranty. Unfortunately is now the end of January 2015 and the dishwasher is still not fixed after 4 attempts by their recommended factory authorized repair company. I have called and written numerous documenting the failed attempt and inability of the repair company to fix our dishwasher, and asked for a replacement, and was denied. They have already spent about $900 to pay the repair company, which I would think would have been cheaper to have replaced the dishwasher and had a satisfied customer. So I have now been without an operational dishwasher for 2 months while it sits in the middle of my kitchen floor, as I wait for the cupping in my hardwood floor to lay down so I can get my floor repaired. Needless to say, I am very displeased with the quality of the GE Cafe dishwasher.

Two years less three weeks after we started using the dishwasher in our new home the plastic at the top of the door where all the buttons are cracked. So far it hasnt interfered with the way its working, but were on alert that it might not be too long. Ive owned dishwashers before, one for 32 years, one for 9 years. There is no acceptable reason for there to be a crack in less than 2 years. This, coupled with a refrigerator that had a broken drawer in 13 months, I will NEVER buy another GE product again!

I have had the GE Unitized washer dryer for 4 months with no problems. It has the cycle choices I need for washer and dryer. It's easy to load and remove clothes, even if the washer tub is a little deep. It washes bulky comforters, coats, heavy denim, bathroom rugs just fine. The dryer is big and quiet. It works like a HE but uses all types of detergent. Great buy! Gave 4 stars for function only because all models do not have a "rinse only" choice.

I purchased all GE Profile & Café appliances when we remodeled our kitchen in 2012. The DW has never cleaned well. I have contacted GE through email several times and now I have to handwash all of the silverware and re-wash most of the dishes. At times, glasses and silverware come out worse than when they went in. We have checked the water temp, pipe size. We use recommended detergent and finish rinse. We had a service call from a reputable appliance repair person, we purchased the recommended citric acid and performed the recommended protocol. This thing stinks! GE recommended another service call. I had a 20+ year old KitchenAid prior to this and it worked like a champ! Never an issue. I am ready to toss it out and buy something else (but it wont match!). Any suggestions?!!

My microwave is 2 years old and stopped working on Thanksgiving Day. Customer service was very responsive to send out a repair person. There was a minimum $108 charge plus and time spent. It turned out to be a loose wire inside the machine and I was charged another $50 for him to tighten it. Machines should go longer than 2 years without a service call and I will buy the extended on any other GE I purchase.

After one repair to my 9 year old microwave we decided to replace it. I am so sorry I did! The old microwave had a stainless steel kit and was made with quality. The replacement is a piece of junk! The outer kit is plastic and shows fingerprints like crazy as well as the microwave itself! Im always wiping it off. The flimsy door button is impossible to open without pushing it ten times in the right spot! The door doesnt close easily either! The front of the microwave is warped and wavy! I hate it! The quality of your microwaves has dropped to zero!

Bought a PDT845SSJ2SS in June. Two months later, it has a leak. Good news, has a leak detector which shuts down the machine. Bad news is that it leaks and the leak detector worked! Called GE. We dont have an authorized service technician in your area. We will get back to you within 3-5 days. Three days later, after I had raised rain with my appliance dealer, he arranged for a local dealer to come look at the machine. Scheduled that appointment - it was Friday, and We only come to your area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Next Tuesday is booked, so we will try for Friday. Then, someone from an organization called Platinum Services calls and says GE has assigned the ticket to them. Shes going to try to schedule a diagnostic appointment in the next 7-10 BUSINESS days. Told her to forget it (found out she was calling from Lowes and had to find a technician before she could schedule.) End of week 1. Following week, someone else from GE calls and asks if I was cancelling my service request. In the course of the conversation, she asks to confirm the model GE RANGE that I have. Kinda lost it on her... On Thursday serviceman from local dealer comes. Turns on the dishwasher - it leaks exactly where I had said it would. Need to order a part and GE will not expedite. End of week 2. Next week - crickets. Nothing, Nada, mushroom mode (in the dark and being fed BS). Called my appliance dealer today and told him to come pick up the dishwasher - says he cannot do that. I explained, “I will forfeit the money I paid - I dont want a dishwasher that leaks in the first two months of use.” He tell me GE released the part yesterday...whatever THAT means and he HOPES repairman will come next Tuesday to repair. So, I have had a new GE dishwasher for 3 months and it has only worked for 2. Be aware! I assume partial responsibility for this goat rope - I faithfully refer to Consumer Reports when purchasing appliances and electronics. I suggest you do the same... you will find GE listed AFTER BOSCH, KITCHENAID, KENMORE and others. Also, realize the GE brand is now a CHINESE company. Caveat Emptor!

Purchased GE Dishwasher, Model GDF540HGD488. Its two or three years old and is junk. Top rack rails failing apart, bottom rack sliding rails have melted. Bottom sprayer has melted and wont stay on, incoming water has it bouncing on the bottom of the machine. As the heat dry is in it smells like melting or burning plastic. Dishes are NEVER clean and need re-washing. GE will do nothing, warranty off. Repairman says its just the type it is. Ive been battling this dishwasher since it arrived 9 years-ago. It was a warranty replacement we were stuck with from GE. Plus, we paid $300. We could never get it to clean dishes, no matter how we loaded it or what we used, so we gave up and hand washed dishes for years. This year, I am committed to getting the dishwasher working because of hand eczema. I took it apart and cleaned the sprayer arms, filter & wiped it down completely. I also ran a dishwasher cleaner through it. I finally got it to clean dishes, but only if they are thoroughly rinsed first and on the Pots/Pans setting. After a month, it stopped cleaning my dishes again. I took apart the dishwasher again, and cleaned everything. Now, glasses on the upper rack in the back are not all getting clean. I never overload it. Im convinced that GE Dishwashers are just junk. Someday, Id love to find a dishwasher that actually works. :-( Frustrated!!!

Our new GE dishwasher is a disappointment. 1. There is water on the door after the dishes wash. 2. There is soap on the door after the dishes wash. 3. The silverware is often dirty after the dishes wash.I have observed the following: 1. The reason for the water is the silverware trays are made of plastic and do not dry. They should make them of coated wire like they used to. 2. The soap tray is often prevented from opening all the way by the silverware in the rack. They should re-design the bottom rack. 3. The silverware tray is too enclosed for good cleaning. It should be made of coated wire like they used to.

I will be more than happy to contact you today between the time frame of 02:30-04:45 PM CST. Any additional questions you may have, you can contact me quickest by email. Again, I do apologize and I will contact you later today to discuss further options available to you. At this time, being the part is not available, the best option would be to offer a prorate on this dishwasher for you in order to have a functioning dishwasher in your home. I do appreciate your patience in handling this matter and will most certainly speak with you this afternoon. Thank you. Really, I have a case manager? The products must be really ** good if you need this as a department. Everyone should rethink buying GE products. Never again. I am campaigning against them! If my wife puts my dinner the refrigerator and I take it out and put it into the microwave if the dinner has let’s say pork chops, mashed potatoes, peas everything gets cooked except the mashed potatoes. They’re always cold and sometimes the peas will pop. There’s never a good medium for all foods at once and if you have any bread or biscuits you have to take it out after 15 seconds. The same goes with turkey cranberry stuffing and other things that go on the plate at Thanksgiving. Some stuff gets very hot. Some stuff stays cold.

I purchased my new home equipped with all new G.E. Profile stainless appliances. Three years after that, our microwave (model number JE2160SFS01) had the magnetron go bad - no problem. I called G.E. and had a tech come out and replace it ($79.95). Great! 4 years later, it goes out again. But it’s still covered under warranty (cool). I call them, set up appointment, and ask what the charges will be - $79.95 home service fee. Fantastic! I schedule the appointment, and three days later, a technician comes to my home. I tell him it’s the magnetron, and he turns on the microwave for a second. He says yup and types his diagnosis into his laptop and prints out his estimate. He hands it to me, and it says “Total amount $ 270.10”! On a covered part!I asked him if he was joking, because the M.S.R.P. for that model, which I got from G.E., is... wait for it... $269.00 for the whole microwave oven! I threw the tech out and called their consumer advocate line (which took over an hour to talk to a human) and asked who sets their pricing for repairs, and was told their senior technicians set the labor charges! It’s a twenty-minute job! $190.00 for twenty minutes? So the tech left with $79.95 for doing absolutely nothing! Great job General Electric! I will never buy another product from you again! By the way, the magnetron they say is priced at $142.30 is available online for $97.50! It takes twenty minutes to replace, and a monkey can do it!

Figure it out GE! The sixth motor and mode selector for our washer has been reluctantly ordered by a tech this morning. The second motor was installed months after buying the brand new machine. Now, only two months since the fifth motor and mode selector was installed (Dec 2, 2011), the wiring harness is burnt up. The tech recommends replacement of the washer by GE, but only gets push-back from GE. This newest incident included a horrific smell of smoke. I do not trust this machine. I have a wife and child to protect. Think about it - do the math - add your costs for repeated repairs. You do not get to be a company the size of GE by not understanding simple economics. I bought a GE dishwasher model #GDF570SSJSS from Sears. It was delivered on Thursday, installed Friday (by myself and a daughter) and the first test run produced nasty, dirty dishes. It took 2 hours and 10 minutes for it to declare that the cycle was finished and the dishes were clean. Fortunately I did not opt for the drying cycle. Or else the nasty crud would have been baked on. I called GE service and they scheduled a Monday service call. Monday, a very nice man hooked the unit up to his computer and found nothing wrong. He then placed a plexiglass door on the unit so he could watch the cycle. He found that the connection to the upper arm was not attached. He snapped it into place and declared that it was fixed. While I watched through the plexiglass door I was appalled that the reason that the GE dishwashers are so quiet is that the washing spray is extremely gentle. The technician seemed very proud of how quiet the units are. I told him that I could get my dishes cleaner if I spread them on the lawn and used a water hose sprayer. He was not amused. I chatted with him and asked several questions and learned some interesting facts. The lower and upper spray arms and the top rain action do not all happen at once. First the lower arm sprays, the machine pauses, then the upper arm sprays, the machine pauses, then the top rain action happens. This cycles over and over until the machine thinks the dishes are clean. I asked why there wasnt a hurricane inside the unit scrubbing my dishes? He said that the motor is a DC motor, I asked how many volts, he said 12.After he left I filled the machine up with dishes I had saved over the weekend for the test. The machine ran for 2 hours + (I forgot to write down the start time). The end result was nasty, dirty dishes that I washed in the sink afterward. So the new dishwasher looks just like the old dishwasher but let me tell you, she is not happy at having the worthless piece of junk sitting nearby and doing nothing while she is sweating over a sink full of dishes. When Im not quite so angry in a few days I will have a conversation with Sears to try to resolve this.

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher because our old one was recalled for fire hazard and we were offered a rebate on a new one, and told there was no fix for the old one. On the new Profile dishwasher, the water inlet valve stuck open and flooded our home. Tech said we may as well have had a hose on full blast all night. Word to the wise, do not turn your dishwasher on and go to bed or leave the house! 7 1/2 hours later we woke to a completely flooded downstairs. When we were researching whether or not there were other complaints on that model dishwasher, we noticed there had been a recall for fire hazard ON THE NEW DISHWASHER! Since this is located right under our bed, we were fortunate though not happy about the flood! We have exceeded the 40K mark in damages and the assessments and estimates are still coming in. We will never own another GE product, though we recently purchased a stove with a double oven which is thus far wonderful. GE has also recently been purchased by Electrolux. First, I want to acknowledge that I misplaced my receipt due to a move, 8 storage units and 4 houses. But...I did register my new, never before installed dishwasher when it was installed October 2020. After install I ran it empty to test/clean it. IT LEAKED. I called GE to schedule repair. I was told it was manufactured in 2018 (another said 2019) and it was not under warranty. I explained I purchased it only a few months before and installation was delayed due to my contractors. They said I would have to pay for labor but the parts were covered under warranty. I didnt like it but agreed because I couldnt find the receipt (from a big box store).Local repair people came, after 2 more calls, 3 weeks later and fixed the leak. They did not run or check if anything else was wrong with the dishwasher. I began using it and quickly realized that it did not get the dishes clean. It does not heat the water, it does not dry, it cant possibly sanitize without heat and kitchen installer said it was missing the kick plate. Geez!! And this is just the things I know!! I have called 4 times now to schedule a service repair, each time having to explained the whole thing, sit on hold, ask to speak to a supervisor, be transferred to customer service and 4 times I have been DISCONNECTED!! I just had a GE tech out to my house to look at a GE profile dishwasher that almost burned down last week. There was not a cover over the internal electronic control panel inside the dishwasher and that was causing the circuit board to short out. The dishwasher is only 2 1/2 years old. GE wants to charge us $200 for the repairs. But this should be something covered under warranty. Their solution is for us to pay half. I think we will go and begin to look for a new dishwasher and never purchase another GE appliance. If you are in the process of building a house and equipping your home with new appliances, I highly recommend you look for another line and another brand of appliances. I guess I need to check with an attorney to see if there are any open cases against GE for faulty electronic components in their appliances.

Have a GE dishwasher put into operation June 2016 (new home). In Oct 2016 we noticed a leak and a serviceman came out and identified a loose soap dispenser - tightened it. Next time we used it, leaked as before. Same serviceman came again, this time replaced both the main seal & spinning water distribution wand assembly. Again, the unit leaked and on Dec 14th same serviceman replaced the soap dispenser. Before he got too far down the road, we called as the unit again leaked. He blamed it on excessive soap suds - which he removed manually. Following his departure, we again experienced a leak. Same serviceman returned on Dec 15th. After review, he advised us the DW would be replaced and we should get a call within 48 hrs to arrange. On Dec 17th (still no followup from GE) the DW leaked again - we video this time. On Dec 19th called customer relations and after much discussion it was apparent GE has NO CLUE what the heck they are doing. ONE MORE repair trip was scheduled - this time they would replace the inside and outside panel! We are fortunate to be retired otherwise this repair process would have cost us about $2000 so far! How idiotic is GE?? How much have they spent to avoid replacing this unit? Believe me this is the LAST GE appliance we buy from them. Dont know how they stay in business. We are awaiting the panel repair guy as of this writing. Will update once this service has been completed.

JVM6175SFSS - I purchased this over the stove Micro in July 2014. When I cooked a potato or frozen meal it would sound like it was going to explode. Condensation drips down behind my stove and the window and door to it get all steamed up. The fan clears the door & window but is very loud and intrusive even on low. Besides that I have never needed to use a fan when I use the microwave. GE repair came and said there was nothing wrong with it. But after thinking about it, came back the next day and took it apart. The tech called GE engineers and described to their amazement the way the inside was made. They said no way. So the tech took pictures and emailed them to GE. They reviewed it and said thats the way it is. I wouldnt stand for that and called them again and told them that the bottom of the micro gets scalding hot. At that they changed it out.... for another one with the same problem. The wall behind the stove is getting ruined from vapor dripping and all the same problems exist. They will be coming again and I am going to insist they take back their junker and let me buy a safe microwave of another brand even though my other appliances match. I am sorry now that I bought my GE stove and refrigerator now because they match the micro.

Now, we are sorry we have to complain about the dishwasher (Model #GDWF160R1OSS). The only good thing about it is how quiet it is. We have tried many different soap products, a little soap, more soap, Rinse Aid, half clean or nearly clean dishes placed inside, only to have the glassware looking horrid, not clean and cloudy. Service man offered suggestions but none have worked. The stainless steel interior also looks horrid because of streaks. So much for energy efficiency when we have to wash all our glassware by hand to get the residue of soap off them. Another dishwasher we have had for 25 yrs. does an excellent job - so dont blame it on the phosphate removal from soap.

Purchased this dishwasher March of 2015. We have had at least five service calls because it does not clean the dishes. Glasses with just water in them when they went in the dishwasher come out dirtier than they went in. Residue is worse on the glasses, but other dishes are not getting completely cleaned. Forget it if something is stuck on, if you dont prewash, you are washing them again. GE has replaced numerous pieces, blamed our water was too hard until they found out we had a water softener and water system and then blamed that instead. We have changed soaps (five different brands), tried every setting in multiple ways, turned off the water system and just had the water softener run, turned everything off and nothing improves the quality of the clean. GE has even refused to pay the service technicians that they GE sent out to repair the dishwasher. Now we cant get anyone to come look at it because they are afraid they wont get paid. We have had three dishwashers prior to this one and have never had an issue with the dishes coming clean. We have maintained that there is not enough water pressure to rinse the dishes, but they are adamant this is not the case. Regardless, the dishes are still not coming clean. All we want is for it to be fixed, replaced or our money refunded. GE customer service is terrible.

I thought by buying top of the line products from a well-known manufacturer, I would have a quality product. I was totally wrong. Sometimes, you dont get what you pay for.

My GE over the range Microwave has broken about 4 times in a years time. My warranty company American Home Shield (AHS) has decided that instead of replacing this piece of garbage, its somehow worth it to keep on fixing it, which is apparently their MO for all their customers but I digress. After the latest breakdown (microwave lost power completely), I was referred by AHS to GE Appliance repair. Thus began the nightmare. The tech that showed up was incompetent at best. He showed up, looked at me, made a grouchy face and proceeded to walk in the kitchen with an attitude like he was doing us this massive favor. He opened the microwave door, closed it, opened his computer and ordered 10 (yes 10) different part. Again, he literally just opened and closed the door - did not disassemble to see what part was actually messed up. No diagnosis done of any kind. He scheduled to come out the week after that - didnt show up because I missed his phone call. Btw, I called him back pretty immediately and he didnt pick up. After being on hold for about 35 mins (which is clearly the GE standard hold time), they tell me the guy has left the area and they need to reschedule me for a week later. The day before the 2nd appointment, they called to reconfirm and then the morning of, I called, stayed on the standard 35-40 min hold and reconfirmed he was still coming and was told he was on his way. Well, the appointment time came and went and he failed to show up YET again so I called to ask wtf happened. They said he didnt come because I canceled the appointment thru an automated call. This time the idiot didnt call me like they always do. I asked for proof of this alleged automated call that was placed to me and they said no call record exist and so while it seemed like a system glitch, the tech already left the area and theyd need to reschedule it. I told them, No, thank you. Got a local repair company to come out the very next day. Turns out, out of the 10 parts that idiot tech had ordered, only 4 had arrived while the invoice still showed 10 being shipped. Let me clarify this: All these issues stem from GEs entire company: From manufacturing crappy products to HR hiring incompetent techs to customer service being absolutely nightmarish to supply chain not sending parts that are being ordered. And if you can somehow get their alleged consumer advocate department on the phone after a 40 min hold time, they dont give a crap either. All these employees MUST hate GE to drive customers away as far as possible. I own a business and I will never ever EVER buy GE again.

I purchased a GE dishwasher model GSD2100v50BB on June 6, 2016. By March 9, 2017, a switch broke which caused the machine to be stuck in the wash cycle for over an hour before it was discovered. This caused soapy water to flow out of the machine all over the floor. It was fixed under warranty but by June 29, 2017 it broke again. It is no longer under warranty and it will cost $70 to 100 to fix it again. It was purchased at Home Depot and they state it is to be handled by GE. GE states that since a year has elapsed, they are not responsible for the repair.

I have a GE Profile dishwasher that is only 1 1/2 years old and the control panel has stopped working 2 times. The first time, it’s under warranty and it repair took place for a couple of minutes. The second time, it’s not under warranty and they want to charge $89 just for the service call, parts and labor. Crazy. That’s a $1000-plus appliance that has already broken two times. I cant run the dishwasher on any setting except the one that it decides to choose for us. Yes, it changes whenever it feels like it. This was one of their higher end dishwashers and, to be honest, it really doesnt clean any better than a lower end one that I had at a previous home.

The dishwasher has had a long life and other than some of the inner pieces breaking, of which we have had to order parts and fix, It has been a good washer. The top rack has tons of room and it has the Stemware rack which is really nice. I wish it had a larger rack for silverware, which fills up fast. I like that can Open and add without having to reset. I LOVE the Simplicity of the Selections.

I guess my GE Profile dishwasher is a lemon. Sounds like it from all the other reviews. Same deal - purchased it in July of 2016 and by October 2016 it went out. Technician that was sent told me it was the electric and I needed to have an electrician fix the fuse. Electrician came out and said it had electric, that it was the dishwasher that failed. Next technician fixed it and said the electronic panels get confused. Three days off of work. December, 2016 the dishwasher failed again. Had no dishwasher throughout the holidays. They scheduled service technician and then cancelled because the one technician they had was out sick.Today, January 9th, they called to let us know they were on the way, but never called the number they were supposed to, so now we are totally taken off the schedule. Ive been on hold and disconnected three times and now have been on hold for one hour and 6 minutes. DONT BUY GE APPLIANCES - Terrible service and crappy appliances that dont work. This is really sickening since I have ALWAYS used GE appliances.

To inform others that need an under-cabinet space-saving microwave, unless you are replacing an existing GE unit (and want the mounting brackets to align for easy re-installation), I would strongly suggest getting a different unit. I am about to buy my third GE undercounter microwave for the past 11 years. The rest of my kitchen is pretty high-end Thermadore, Kitchenaide, ASKO, and Braun. My last Profile PEM 31 DMBB lasted less than three years. The Toshiba that I bought while deployed to Okinawa lasted 15 years.

Dishwasher is 3 months old and today is the first time it has worked! GE has sent repair techs 3 times and finally today the unit was temporarily repaired with electrical tape attached to the brand new door latch. The door latch is cheap plastic and has a manufacturer design defect of being too small to properly engage the unit when the door closes, thus not allowing the cycles to start just a series of beeps. No other manufacturer uses a cheap plastic door latch designed like this but GE! Piece of crap, dont buy it!

We have purchased this GE Profile PP970FR2SS microwave with oven combo a year ago. In less than a year, we have experienced these problems on the microwave that still keeps on heating even if its not in use and a buzzing sound can be heard. We called for repair and the repairmen replaced the door switch mechanism. In less than a month, same issues persist. Again repaired but after some months, same problem. The technician said that the door mechanism is not the original parts and ordered the original GE Profile parts. But after replacing it, the same problems exist and the technician said that its now the panel board. Its been almost two weeks now that we dont have any microwave and still waiting for GE technician to repair it. I wouldnt buy this brand anymore and wouldnt recommend a combo for microwave and oven. This is a poor design and quality on GE. Hopefully, this equipment will not cause any fire. We now turn off the circuit breaker for this device every time we go on a long trip/vacation.

Had model JES1460DS3BB less than 2 years. I started to smell burning plastic when using it. Research tells me the wiring is burning up. Im sick and tired of GE appliances. Ever since my GE toaster caught on fire in 1969 Ive had bad luck with GE. I gave the company another chance when I bought this microwave. I will never buy another GE appliance - large or small.

We usually turn on the dishwasher in the night. Last month ours started smelling smoke in the morning 6:00 am. When checked, it was the dishwasher that melted couple of plastic cans and its own sprayer and other plastic parts (pictures speaks for itself). When checked with GE, this model was not under recall (there are other models with similar issues). They sent their technician, who confirmed that newer models has auto turnoff circuit. When I asked GE rep, both (level 1 and her manager) assured me that even though it shows its burnt from inside, it would have contained the fire inside, which I disagree. Even after seeing pics, their tech review and the whole incident, their engineers determined this is not a safety hazard to me or my family.

Press start and the cycle is paused and will start in 3-2-1. it does not start but repeats and beeps over and over. I have done everything in my power to get this rectified. It will run out of warranty in October and I havent been able to use it. As a consumer I am demanding a usable product that I spent my hard earned money on. Here is the model CDT875P4N2W2. I will go to any lengths to get some attention in this matter and I hope Consumer Affairs can contact GE Corporate for me.Dr. David ** Lewes Delaware

My husband and I replaced all the appliances in our new home 4 years ago with GE Profile double oven, cooktop and built in microwave. All the appliances are of poor quality and do not cook the way we are accustomed to. But the microwave has had a particularly bad history. Within one year, it completely quit working and we had to replace several fuses and a board. Over the past couple of months, the keypad continually quits working and we have to climb up on a stool, unplug the microwave to reset it. Only then will it work for us to heat something. However, the keypad does not accurately reflect the task we are trying to use. I have had many microwaves over the years and I have NEVER had to repair one before. This particular brand of microwave was produced in Malaysia in July 2008. Very, very poor quality. No resolve from GE or from Sears where we bought it. I am done with GE and with SEARS.

I contacted by phone GEs customer service department (800-386-1215) on 2 separate occasions. The most recent was on 2/18/13. About 4 1/2 years ago, when we purchased our new house, we bought all new GE appliances for our kitchen and laundry room. My biggest complaint is with our dishwasher. The top and bottom racks are rusting and most of the prongs have broken off as a result. This should not happen for an appliance that is only about 4 1/2 years old. Their response was that I could purchase both the top and bottom rack. Why would I purchase the same racks only to have it happen again? Clearly this is happening because they used a poor quality steel. There was a recall not too long ago on our dishwasher and the service tech who came out to fix the recall couldnt believe how badly the racks have rusted. I understand there is no warranty; however, you would think or hope that the racks would last a lot longer than 4 1/2 years. I am very disappointed in the quality and the lack of help regarding this matter.

GE states they do not repair microwave ovens under warranty. Instead, they offer to reimburse you at MSRP for repurchasing the unit if you will show evidence you have ruined the units operational function. The interior bulb burned out in my unit, I disabled the unit, sent in pictures and receipt. They sent a coupon for about $30.00 less than MSRP and lied about the conditions of reimbursement. Brendia, the agent I spoke with, broke off email contact when I stated the unit was no longer available from the sellers on the GE seller list (including the seller I originally purchased from), and that the unit was only available at MSRP from the online sellers I could find. My microwave is inoperable and GE has not responded or offered to increase reimbursement to MSRP. I have not located a chain of command to whom I can report Brendias dishonest management of my case.

Today I heated some spaghetti sauce in my microwave and it splashed, so I wiped it out. My microwave is built in and was pretty new and in the house when we bought it 4 years ago. It is in the base counter so I have to reach down to clean it. l havent had a problem with it but when I wiped the inside top I felt bumps and when I looked at the cloth to see what was on it, there was paint on it. That has never happened before so I of course looked and there is a fair amount of peeling paint in one spot. I have had microwave ovens for many years. Never had this problem with any other brand. What is that?? Can it be fixed? Is it dangerous???

I wish I could rate this dishwasher ZERO stars. I bought my first GE cafe series approximately 6 months ago and after the first week, there were three separate, unrelated problems. I called GE repair and the serviceman came out and said he fixed all the problems. He did not. I contacted the store where I bought it, and after contacted GE directly was able to get a brand new one. After two months, problems started again. Once again the repairman came out. Long story short - 2 months, and three sick days later (on my part) dishwasher is still not cleaning dishes thoroughly. I contacted GE several more times and they sent me some dishwasher cleaner and offered me a discount on a new GE dishwasher.... I will never purchase another GE anything and advise everyone else to do the same!

Run, dont walk, toward any dishwasher other than a GE. Problems with the dishwasher within one year - black residue on my dishes that felt and smeared like grease. Calls to GE repair resulted in the worst customer service I have ever experienced. One call returned at 4:00 am. After two visits, a lecture about how to load a dishwasher, I gave up. The effort of making calls for visits, taking time off work, rude repair technicians and being told it was not grease, I now have a dishwasher a few years old that is falling apart. Screws are now coming loose and the buttons are sticking.

Called out GE service tech to diagnose my dishwasher which was not draining after the wash cycle ended. Was told it was the control board and it would be best to buy a new dishwasher. Purchased a control board online (was a GE original part for a lot less than the GE price) but it did not solve the problem. After researching the problem online, I found out that it could be the drain valve. Sure enough, bought one for $14, installed it myself and the dishwasher works like new. Called GE Service to try and get a refund for the service visit ($89), was told that I had 30 days to have the tech come back out at no charge. Tech never advised me of this policy and GE will not refund my money.

So I was forewarned by my family of nightmare experiences they had with GE appliances over the course of the last 50 years of our family. I just bought a home with 2 GE dishwashers that are both under 5 years old, and both are malfunctioning terribly. The one has leaked from the bottom and created severe water damage, and the other will not drain. Just an affirmation of the bad experiences my family has had in the past. Cheaply made, and often the go to appliances installed in manufactured and new homes. Had a service technician come out after speaking with GE on the phone and they assured me it was cost free. After the technician came out and told me I was being billed $105 for the call, and it would cost an additional $255 to fix the washing machine. The tech was not very friendly or helpful, and his only concern was collecting the bill. Avoid these products!
