Bought a KitchenAid dishwasher (Mod KUDS35FXWH8 Ser F24801339) and clips holding the top rack on its rails broke within months of purchase, causing top rack to partially or fully collapse very often. Been living with this for the past several years. Too much spent and too much hassle to replace, as Id have to break tile to replace the unit. Very disappointed. Done with KitchenAid, as if a fairly premium model uses cheap plastic that cant support a top dish rack with normal use, then I have to question the quality of the entire unit. My thinking is that if they do not have the right people, process and engineering sense to add .05 to the cost of key parts in a dishwasher that would allow it to endure at least an average life without breaking, then why should I trust that they would have skills and sense to make the rest of the unit last an average life. KitchenAid made an extra .05-.10 cents on my purchase and lost potentially hundreds or thousands of future customers as a result. Word of mouth, bad online reviews, Consumer Affairs notice... will lead to this. KitchenAid: time for a change.

I purchased my Kitchenaid Refrigerator on 8/15/2018 plus a Service Agreement with Safeware. The model number is KRFF507HBL. Within six months the freezer LED light extinguished. Within the another six months the LED lights extinguished in the refrigerator. I guess this is a common occurrence with this product. In the owners there is a sentence that states LED Lighting do not need to be replaced. Thats is obviously a lie. This has been very costly to repair and of course Safeware the Service Agreement plan will not cover lights. I will never purchase Kitchenaid product or buy a Service Agreement especially with a third party company. I am so disappointed but I stuck with product that is garbage and not living up to its good name.

We have owned a KitchenAid self-cleaning oven which recently caught on fire while in the self-cleaning mode. The door locked and could not be opened and the fire department had to remove the stove in an emergency call. We have had lesser problems with the electronic system malfunctioning in the past but this episode nearly cost us our home. There have been many reports of this malfunction but KitchenAid has not put out a warning to consumers, much less tried to correct it. It is time for a class action lawsuit for Federal and State consumer protection agencies to become involved before someone dies due to this defect.

Model # KUDL021RBS4 - As two retired old folks, we use a lot of paper plates and have used our expensive all stainless dishwasher no more than three times a month. It was purchased from Lowes 2007. A month ago, the LEDs on the control panel started flashing. Wife called KA and they connected us to a tech. No problem, he says, change the circuit board. No problem, I say. I build computer up from parts. Ill change out the part from Whirlpool. The washer worked once and the lights started flashing again. Washer wont run. The internet chat line person knew nothing about that. He sent me a copy of what was included with the owners manual that doesnt reflect the actual model. Question is, do I waste another $250 with further service calls and parts or do I buy a disposable one for only $247 and give up on those pretty premium expensive disposable appliances? Samsung did me wrong, now Kitchen Dis-Aid. Why pay more? Whats the point?

My comments are reflective of everyone elses complaints on their dishwasher
My comments are reflective of everyone elses complaints on their dishwasher. I must be going crazy because I can hardly believe that a dishwasher cant wash dishes! Ive been pulling my hair out for 4 years trying to figure out why my dishes are so bad. I have convinced myself its our hard water (although we have a water softener) or the lack of phosphates in the detergents (I only use powder) and I even bought some contraband phosphate commercial detergent form amazon... No luck.I have to show you how bad my glasses are, so bad my kids have stopped using them because they are dirty. A lot of it appears to be etching, some is a film that can be scraped off with a razor, but none will come off with a scrubber or soap. This build up is an endless cycle of more crap sticking to it with every wash! I hand wash glasses all the time and refuse to buy another set of new glasses only to ruin them.I must say other than the door hinge cords breaking I havent had the misfortune of ANY broken parts or broken controls (crossing fingers!). I use my dishwasher every day. I do have a tip on the door hinge. DO NOT pay a repair person to do it. The part is $15 and 15-30 minutes of your time. Also note that we installed generic parts and we ended up with the loudest creaky door you have ever heard. The fix was to put the OLD wheels on the new part, and it worked like a charm (apparently the new wheels are made from a different plastic!) My request from fellow consumers... What dishwasher will you replace yours with? I just want this to go away!!!

I purchased an oven, built in microwave, downdraft stove, ice machine, dishwasher and refrigerator. So far the oven has gone out when I cleaned it. It burned up. I had to threaten a lawsuit to get a repair person to fix it for free. The microwave has missing pieces of the time. It needs a new board. The ice machine is completely dead. My appliances are THREE years old. I have never ever seen such poor quality in my life. The very last time I will ever purchase KA.

We purchased model KDTE104DSSO November 29, 2014. It was professionally installed and cleaned everything beautifully until this summer. We called Whirlpool and were directed to their service provider under the warranty plan. The technician has been here 4 weeks in a row and still the dishwasher does not work. Our concern is it will be out of warranty in 2 months. I spoke with a customer service rep who had the audacity to offer me an extended warranty! I intend to file a complaint with our county consumer affairs office.

We bought KitchenAid model KUDS301XBL thinking that it was better than Bosch, Kenmore & all the rest since many people recommend it. Paid almost 1000 for a piece of garbage. Good thing we took the extended warranty as not even 3 years & the motherboard is busted. Guy came in, said it worked after 3 days of no electricity. Waiting for the missing part & again not working as the motherboard unglues due to the handle being at the same place. DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID, THE ONLY GOOD DISHWASHER IS MIELE.

The dishwasher does work quite well. The problem is the racks are garbage. They fall apart easily and are very very costly to repair. All the little bits fall off constantly hit the element and melt and burn. The adjusters on the top rack are very poorly made and quickly become useless. The wheels are the first thing to go. I asked KitchenAid if I can just buy two new racks with all the bits attached. They said no! I would have to buy all the bits and pieces, and yes get the technician in to assemble the whole thing starting at 400.00!!! NIce really nice, so they have you anyway you turn. This will be the second time we have had to replace all the bits of on a 5 year old dishwasher, first time was around 400 bucks so 800 in total to Date. Thinking of cutting my losses and just buying another brand. I think environmentally this is a total shame to toss a good dishwasher out. Shame on KitchenAid. File # **

Element was under warranty but labor (greater cost of the two) was not. Believe problem not the element but something else that triggers the failure. Consumer beware of both poor quality of product and failure of the company to properly diagnose the root cause of the problem.

Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDS301XBL7 - The plastic rollers on the top and bottom are cheap and break a couple of years. We have replaced 3 out of 4 roller assemblies and anticipate the 4th to go soon. Also, the controls on the front are very touchy. If you lean against the counter and accidentally touch the dishwasher/control board, it will turn on or start cycling. This forces you to lock the panel, but that is not convenient. Dishwasher works well and have no problems with it.

Since posting the initial review, I was contacted by a KitchenAid engineer who scans online reviews about their dishwashers. Im happy to say that the dishwasher has now been repaired at no cost to me. Hopefully the replacement rails and adjusters will last longer than the original ones did. Im very pleased that KitchenAid stepped up to make this right. Ive been a loyal customer of KitchenAid and will continue to be in the future. But this is only a great dishwasher if it stands the test of time and thats yet to be seen.

This cleaning technology is a complete joke. KitchenAid/Whirpool solution is to buy their cleaning kit a sponge and a plastic scraper. Food is caked on the inside and does not come off. You cant use any chemical cleaners either so youre looking at a 2-hour cleaning job to maybe get this oven clean. Im shocked that they are still selling ovens with this bogus technology. After running the cycle multiple times some of whats on the bottom comes off after some scrubbing but the sides are still filthy. KitchenAid and Whirlpool need to do a recall and buy all these garbage ovens back from consumers. I paid $2k for my oven and after calling to complain to KitchenAid they had the nerve to tell me a tech could come out but if they decided the oven was working as designed, I would be charged. As designed - so does that mean they know it doesnt work and they come out and say yep, its not working - as designed that will be $150 please. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again!!

I have owned the KitchenAid refrigerator since 2000 and have not had a day's worth of trouble with it. The refrigerator section is on top, and the freezer, with 2 pull-out shelves is on the bottom. Items stored in either section are easily accessible. The refrigerator has no water maker or any other fancy do-dad, but does have an ice maker located in the freezer. When it has to be replaced, I will definitely look for another KitchenAid refrigerator.

We purchased a rather expensive KitchenAid refrigerator-freezer, model KSF26C7XYY04, one with a computerized, electronic control system located on outside of the freezer door. What we have found is that the ice maker inexplicably quits working and then equally inexplicably starts working again---days later. Two calls to the store where the unit was purchased (Lowes) resulted in two different technicians coming out to fix the problem. The first technician replaced the computerized electronic control unit. This did not solve the problem. The second technician had no lasting success either, even confirming that the temperature control settings were at the factory recommended levels. With the problem still continuing, we phoned KitchenAid and were eventually transferred back to Lowes. The only solution offered was to have still another technician come out to fix the problem (at our expense). A return chat contact with KitchenAid produced the same results. What is disappointing is the extent to which KitchenAid refuses to accept responsibility for a design/manufacture flaw in their product and the futility of their so-called solutions. Why would anyone pay for a third technician to address the same problem when two others couldnt? Is the third technician (reportedly more of a KitchenAid authorized technician) an admission that the first two that Lowes sent out were something less than competent? Why wasnt a KitchenAid authorized technician sent out the first time? I was asked if I purchased an extended warranty. What good is an extended warranty, if the same problem cant be fixed under the first warranty period? We need better products and better solutions.

Model #KDTE204DSSo purchased approximately 18 months ago for over $1,000.00. Heat element stopped working and had that replaced. Still didnt work. Was then told it was probably a control panel issue. Also for several months had to do an additional rinse as the dishwasher retained soap. This was our second dishwasher purchased in two years. Obviously, appliances are not made to last anymore. We had an old Inglis dishwasher that lasted for over fifteen years. My advise. Buy the cheapest one and if you get two years out of it, toss and replace!

We built a new house in 2012 and bought all new KitchenAid appliances. I thought I was buying a great branded product. My natural behavior is to buy the best and when I went in to buy appliances for my new house, I was directed to KitchenAid. I started my experience by having several problems with our microwave and with my cooktop at one time, with the burners not working correctly. I also had the board on our dishwasher go out. However, my fridge is a nightmare. I started having a problem 4 months into my purchase. I bought a French door fridge, and my kids do not always pay attention to how the door closes so once in a while, it stays slightly cracked open. KitchenAid tells me I need to train my 2, 5 and 8 year old kids to check the fridge door. Do you think kids will remember this all the time? The problem is that the beeper does not let you know if someone left it open until after 5 minutes. The other problem is the sound on the beeper. I can hardly hear it, and there is no adjustment for higher volume there either.I can hardly blame kids or teach kids that are 2, 5 and 8 years old to shut a door and check it. I can tell you that I know I bought the most highly priced fridge on the market and a simple timer and beeper on the thing is not adjustable. I cant even get an upgrade to fix my problem. I offered to pay for the fix and nobody can help. I am asking for a louder beeper and a timer for an alarm, and nobody can help. More functionality is what the consumer is asking for. Supposedly, we buy the highest priced item on the market so that we would get more support, or at least an option to add this to your fridge? I would have expected this from cheaper models, but a KitchenAid, as far as what I have been told, is the best. Well, I got room for argument on that one. I went to Sears today and LG and Samsung have adjustable timers and adjustable sound within their appliances. My plan is to buy one and never own a Whirlpool, Kenmore, or KitchenAid ever again because I absolutely cannot get a response from this leadership team within the Whirlpool organization. This is the 6th time since I have owned this fridge that this has happened. I figured, to replace all the food in my fridge, it would cost me $60-$100 each time. At this rate, it is too costly, with your cost of the product and the way it is engineered to afford your products from this point forward. I am not happy about the communication I have gotten from KitchenAid and Whirlpool to address my problem. I am not happy about supposedly purchasing the best brand on the market and not having more flexibility to adjust timers and beepers.I am not happy about having to replace my fridge in my new home 18 months after purchase. I am not happy because I will have to try and match stainless colors on the new Samsung or LG brand product I intend on buying. I am not happy about not being able to match all my appliances in my new home because KitchenAid can’t offer a product with adjustable timers and beepers. I am only one customer, and I never bad mouth anyone’s products. But if someone asks about my new KitchenAid products, I will let them know my experience with customer support and product experiences I had from the Whirlpool umbrella.

I wish we had known about this website before we purchased all KitchenAid appliances for our new lake home. We purchased the higher end built-in refrigerator (over $5,000), double oven, microwave, dishwasher, and portable counter top oven. The refrigerators ice maker, ice container broke before 6 months, which was hard to remove from day one. My old refrigerator held more than this one. It isnt even big enough to hold 12 pack of cokes; its too short. The door shelves arent really adjustable. You can remove one but you cant change them. The front water dispenser isnt big enough to hold most glasses. The microwave has to be serviced to change a light bulb! The counter top oven doesnt tell you when its reached the desired temperature and takes forever to heat. The dishwasher doesnt let you know what stage its in and you have to wash everything before you put it in though it is quiet. The only appliance I was happy with was the double oven. I also love my stand mixer which Ive had for years. Sad, I wont buy another KitchenAid appliance.

KitchenAid Refrigerator Counter Depth Side by Side KSC23C8EYY02 - This pertains to a new Refrigerator purchased in January 2013. Condensation formed above the ice/water dispenser on exterior of original freezer door. New freezer door was installed last week (after 2-month wait). Now, new problems pop up - the ice maker does not produce ice. The electronic display is defective (light segments do not work) and the freezer is super-cooling. 3 different service companies have been here since last Monday and the problem continues. Why cant someone figure this out? A new ice maker is on order, a new display is on order and today, we are told that the heaters (supposed to keep water line to ice maker from freezing) may be defective. We have 4 months before our one-year warranty runs out and no confidence that we will have a functional refrigerator before then.

KitchenAid outsources all of their repairs to Whirlpool who has DESTROYED my $1500 stove in order to fix the fan. They have forced me to stay home from work for over 2 weeks worth of time due to repairs caused by the previous repair damage that theyve caused. Every time they leave I find another rookie mistake that has caused additional damage. I am FED up with this company and will never buy from them again. I purchased the KitchenAid dishwasher model KDTM704ESS0, for around $1400 in 2015. After three years of light use (there are only two of us) the wash motor seized up and needs to be replaced at a cost of $500-$600. I called KitchenAid and they told me the motor was no longer in warranty so they would do nothing. This is my fourth KitchenAid dishwasher in forty years. None of my other KitchenAid dishwashers have ever needed a repair of any sort. In fact, I have never even had a service call on any of my other KitchenAid dishwashers. The previous dishwashers were replaced due to kitchen remodeling or upgrading, not because they stopped working. I cannot believe that a main component of this expensive dishwasher would last only three years. I would think twice about buying a new KitchenAid. I know two other people who have had their KitchenAid dishwasher motors fail after only approximately three years. Sad that the KitchenAid quality isnt there anymore! Also sad that the company is OK with a customer spending $1400 and having the product last for only three years!

After one year evaporator freezes up. Whirlpool sends out repair man who says evaporator not working, must order parts. A week later replaces thermostat. A week or two later evaporator frozen again. A week later replaces electric control board. Two months later evaporator frozen again. A week later repair man comes out, yes evaporator broken, must order parts. A couple weeks later repair man replaces circuit board. Seven months later evaporator freezes up again. A week later repair guy shows up, yes it is broken. Will need to order parts. It has now been almost three weeks and still waiting on parts. In between waiting for the repair guy or on parts, I have had to unload the refrigerator and manually defrost it every 1-2 weeks. KitchenAid had a very good reputation once upon a time. Apparently they are now getting their parts from the lowest bidder, most likely China. One other reviewer said KitchenAid refrigerators has over 3,000 parts backordered.

Side by Side KSC24C8EYY01 - We put in a new counter depth KitchenAid refrigerator 3 1/2 years ago. The freezer recently stopped working for no apparent reason, then kicked back on after 24-36 hours. This has happened 4 times in less than 3 weeks. By the time the service man gets here to check it out, the freezer is back to working, and he cant find a problem. The 2nd time he called Whirlpool and went through an entire diagnostic testing and still found nothing. He thought the Whirlpool technician that he spoke to was not too bright, and actually rather rude and indifferent. The only recommendation they had was to replace the mother board for a cost of $800 - with no guarantee that replacing it will solve the problem - it was just a guess. The service man told us that he wouldnt buy a KitchenAid appliance for anything - their service department was difficult to work with and trying to get parts needed for repair can be a nightmare. We will NOT be repairing this refrigerator and we will NOT EVER purchase another Whirlpool appliance - EVER.

KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDC101X with touch-sensitive control panel too sensitive! Dishwasher can be turned on and off by my dogs or just standing in front of it. Most frustrating, I hate it! Dishwasher gets turned on by mistake then does not drain so it stays wet and smells, gets turned off mid-wash cycle and the KitchenAid customer service reps says, Sorry, it is working as it should. I say, bad design, and Im a very unhappy customer. No more KitchenAid/Whirlpool for me!

We used the Aqualift feature for the first time this weekend on our Kitchenaid oven. The oven really wasnt that dirty, but we wanted to get the glass door cleaner. The Aqualift process did nothing to clean the oven door. No matter how many times we ran the process. We ended up using a half of box of Brillo pads to get the oven door glass clean. This is not what we expected for the price of the range we paid from a kitchen specialty appliance dealer. This experience was unbelievable. The inside of the oven wasnt that much cleaner either. But the 2 cups of water were still sitting on the bottom of the oven like the manual stated. Note: We did not use the Brillo pads on the oven cavity as we did not want to scratch the finish. We have used the pads on other glass items without scratching the glass; therefore did the oven glass door only. It took about 2 hours of manual labor to get the glass cleaned. This will be the last Kitchenaid product we purchase as a result.

Do NOT purchase Kitchenaid dishwasher model KDPE234GPS0. I purchased one on 21 APR 2018, model did not work, all it could do was fill with water and sit there for about 5 minutes and then drain. I removed the unit and exchanged it at a different store across town for the same model. I installed the new unit this morning of 24 APR 2018 and it appears to have the same problem. The unit will not agitate or spray water, whatever the term is. Ive recorded a video with my phone inside the dishwasher. All it does is fill, sit around for a bit, and then drain. I will more than likely be returning this for different model, if not a different brand entirely. I dont place any fault on Lowes for this failure, except for maybe selling this product to begin with. Theyve been more than helpful with my problems and I will continue doing business with Lowes.

I remodeled my kitchen in 2013. I thought KitchenAid was a higher end brand so I purchased all my appliances in the stainless steel finish. Within a year the dishwasher door was starting to delaminate and showing dulling spots. In addition the stove top was also starting to show signs of dulling spots and continued to grow in size. I would NOT recommend any KitchenAid appliances. The customer service with KitchenAid is not helpful at all and basically blamed me, the consumer for the problem. After spending over $5000.00 on KitchenAid appliances I expected better quality and customer service.

The top rack adjuster is what connects the upper rack to the pull out guide
The top rack adjuster is what connects the upper rack to the pull out guide. In most Kitchenaid (and Whirlpool) dishwashers, the wheels of the adjuster are connected with a plastic axle. These axles will routinely break, causing the upper rack to fall onto the lower rack, or if you are luck, just separate from the wheel guide. If you bought washers with this design, you will have this problem. We have had our KUDS30X... for about 3 years and have had to replace this part 7 times already. The part costs about $25 a pop from online part stores. This part will eventually wear down and break no matter how careful you are when pulling out the top rack. It is still used on even Kitchenaids top of the line washers. Really Kitchenaid, how much would it cost you to redesign this flawed part? If you are shopping for a dishwasher, look at the wheels on the upper rack. If it has a plastic axle, walk away.

I am sorry I did not use this site before I purchased my KitchenAid refrigerator. Apparently, they do not stand by their shoddy product. I have had the same issues as most. The icemaker broke two years after purchase. Now after 6 years, the two circuit boards are broken and need to be replaced. The total cost for this could go up to $800. I had a service person look at it and replace the inverter board at a cost of $450. Two days later, the fridge got hot and service guy came back. He diagnosed that the main board needed to be replaced. KitchenAid does not even have this part anymore. Now I have to send out my part for repair and be without a fridge for more than a week. I am disgusted! Never again will I buy KitchenAid products.

I have never complained publicly before but for the protection of other consumers, I must share what happened to me yesterday with my KitchenAid stove and oven that I purchased 7 years ago for $1,245.00 (model number KGRA806PBT). It is supposed to be the top of the line product with convection oven. First of all, I agree with many people who have written here. I tried the self-cleaning oven one time when I first purchased it and it overheated and the thermal protector failed. The part was covered but not the service call ($100.00). I have never used the self-cleaning feature since. Also, for the past year, the oven has not always worked. As it heats up, I will often get an error sign on the panel. So, I just have not done much baking. Yesterday, I was not even using the stove or oven, and I heard a hissing noise in the kitchen and then a popping sound and then fire! The printed circuit board started a fire in the oven which immediately filled the entire kitchen with black smoke and flames. If I had not been home, I would have lost my house! But I happened to have been home! My husband was also home, although he was supposed to be at work. Thankfully he had a fire extinguisher in the barn so before much damage was done, he had the fire out. Of course Elders Appliance in Grandville, MI, where we bought the stove and oven, (and all our other KitchenAid appliances) said they have never had any complaints! Ya, right! Please do not ever buy a KitchenAid product. Terrible!

Then my wife comes home from walking the dog... she had started the dishwasher 15 minutes before. Smoke was pouring from the top of the dishwasher.... but no lights or sound. Smoke dissipated but really smelled bad. I got home, took apart and the control panel was 1/2 charred. I check the internet and find that a lot of people have had this happen. Its a good thing it didnt start the house on fire. I figured I would just buy a new control panel and wire harness but the wife refuses to have the thing in the house anymore.

I purchased a suite of appliances after a home renovation and recently took delivery. The refrigerator (Model KRFC704FBS00) has not worked properly since it was installed on January 10, 2018. The water on the door does not work at all, the door for the filter does not snap closed. The water was leaking so badly at one point I had to shut the water line off. I am on the my second service company and they still cant get it right. And that is just the refrigerator!!! Two of knobs on the stove were bent. The vented microwave above the stove has a handle that gets so hot you risk third degree burns if God forbid you forget to cover your hand before you pull the door open! I rarely use the dishwasher so I cant comment on that. PLEASE stay away from KitchenAid especially the Bella series!! I have learned that KitchenAid stopped making this series because of so many problems but that does not stop stores selling this garbage. Dishwasher is 2 years old and has had 11 wheels replaced on the top rack. Utensils always go through the holes in the utensil holder, often many while its running, and they get stuck and you cant even move the rack to try and get them out. Almost have to climb into the dishwasher to reach the ones at the back, which is of course after spending almost an hour trying to get all the other dishes out of the bottom rack with the top rack in the way. And forget about actually filling it, neither rack can hold any weight. The top one cant handle 5 glasses from dinner and 2-3 bowls without bending. Its not like anyone would expect a dishwasher to be able to handle the weight of I dont know... DISHES!!! If it was up to me I would leave it at the store front entrance. I purchased this dishwasher in October 2011 which was a Kitchen Aid model KUDC10IXWH4. This was installed in a basement kitchen which is only used at New Years and Easter and is run for a total of 10 loads per year. The control panel failed within the first five loads and we needed factory service. When the service tech arrived I was informed that we had to pay the labor and service call. This failure was in early 2102 after the unit was run for the New Year holiday. We were told by the tech that we should consider the extended warranty because these units constantly fail. The unit starts by itself. The thermal fuse fails about every 6th load at a replacement cost of $138 per trip. Kitchen Aid is absolutely useless in this process and deny any responsibility in this matter. As this unit has just been run enough to empty the sample bottle of Jet Dry and had for service calls I would tell anyone never to buy another Kitchen Aid appliance as we will not ever again. Their customer service is horrible!

The dishwasher bottom rack was broken, but installer/company repaired it within a week. The rack system is crap. Has plastic inserts with ball bearing. Inserts get hard, breakoff and ball bearing fall out. After 30 months the top rack fell off due the roller assembly breaking. Bottom rack has same issue. Cost for replacement of upper and lower assemblies parts alone were over $350 with discount. Dishwasher must be completely un-installed to replace assemblies. Dishes come clean, its very quite, but if the racks fall out/down while loading, its not really a good product. I can break my own dishes thank you very much. I just had the panel replaced for close to $300 in February 2012 and the dishwasher does not turn on again! I also find that customer service is awful. I am waiting to hear a response from a representative but I wont sit by the computer. Another reason not to purchase a Kitchen Aid appliance is they use A&E Factory Service and they never show up. We just completed installing a new kitchen, with all new appliances, cabinets, wiring, etc. as of December 2011. On February 4, 2012 while cooking a single potato, we looked at the KitchenAid microwave (Model KHMS2040WBL-1 Serial #TR 1 25 10840) only to discover that it was filled with flames. We pushed the stop button and the flames went out. The instructions screen continued to flash sensing, sensing until I unplugged the device from the outlet. Upon cleaning the microwave oven, we found that the potato was reduced to a small pile of glowing black carbon, the glass turntable was blackened and cracked, the plastic spindle upon which the turntable sits was about 50% burned away, and the paint under where the potato had been sitting was burned down to the raw metal.Reading the instruction booklet, I found that the device is supposed to sense when the food being cooked is giving off steam, and then shut itself off when no further steam is sensed. Obviously, this function failed.I called the KitchenAid customer service line (1800-422-1230) only to be transferred to the Safety Department at Whirlpool, the corporate owners of KitchenAid. After explaining my experience, the representative Timika ** offered to send a repair service to my house. A repair person from A&E came, agreed that there had been a fire and told us not to use the appliance again, because of consumer neglect. What the neglect is a mystery to me. In summary, Whirlpool has refused to cover the damage to the appliance even though it was manufactured in June 2011 and was still under the original warranty. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency and the New York State Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Fraud.I am completely dissatisfied and angry with the Whirlpool response. They seem to want to avoid responsibility for (and resulting recall) a failure of the electronics board in this appliance. I have found the website ** which describes a class action suit over fires in KitchenAid dishwashers, also apparently due to failures in the electronics panel of those appliances.

The drain line seems to be long enough if you could unravel it from their mountings on the side of the unit, which apparently are not to be removed? I still have no clue. I had to butt together 2 drain lines with a 3/4 nipple and 2 hose clamps to connect the 2 soft ended hoses together, seems wrong but impossible to get any facts. I purchased a dishwasher from Lowes in 2015. 1st of all Lowes extended warranty runs consecutively with the manufacturers warranty so you really are getting 1 yr less of a warranty than you pay for. I had a service repair man come out and diagnose the problem and said it was $400.00 to repair. I called KitchenAid and they said it should still be under warranty because I had a 1 yr manufacturer warranty and I paid for a 3 yr extended warranty. WRONG!!! I called Lowes and thats when they said the extended warranty starts from day 1 of purchase, running the same time as the manufacturer. So I called KitchenAid back because the dishwasher does have a 2-5 yr manufacturer limited warranty BUT since I did not use one of their two service companies, both I have never heard of, to look at it, they will not cover the part needed and wont accept the other companys diagnosis because they are not an authorized service company with KitchenAid. The 1st customer service agent I had was very helpful, the 2nd call, the agent was not friendly at all. Said the 1st agent should have been more clear and have a good day. We have been in our brand new house for six weeks now with our upgraded KitchenAid appliances and have used the dishwasher less than 10 times. Last week lights started blinking, called KitchenAid and they had me press some buttons, unplug for a while and then referred me to a local authorized service center. Repair person came out, did exactly what I did, wrote some notes and told me he would have to have KitchenAid authorize the order of a control board. Really????? I waited a week for the technician to do exactly the same thing KitchenAid had me do? Now it will be another week before the part comes in? Hugely disappointed in this product. I had my previous dishwasher (GE Profile) in my other house -- also brand new -- for 14 years with NO problems whatsoever. Very disillusioned with KitchenAid right now.

I, like many of the already listed complaints, purchased a KitchenAid Microwave (Model KHMS155LSS-4) as part of a complete appliance purchase in 2006. I had the same issue last year that others have listed about the unit randomly turning itself on. After contacting Customer Service, they escalated my issue and immediately had it handled by the Safety Department that ordered a new control panel and sent out A & E to repair. The unit seemed to be working fine until this past week when it stopped heating food. Everything seems to run as normal but it no longer heats anything. I contacted Customer Service today and nobody seems to care about the long repair history and lack of quality product they are producing. Im concerned that the current issue is somehow related to the prior issue, but they will not acknowledge that to be the case. It has to be bad on a microwave that runs without anything in it for long periods of time, even though Customer Service says their biggest concern when it runs without anything in it is damage to the inside cook chamber. If I decide to repair this microwave again, it will be the third time this unit has been repaired since I purchased in 2006. I am disappointed with the constant problems I have had with this microwave.

KitchenAid electric range # KERS807SSS00. I am very disappointed in KitchenAid! They don’t deserve a star! Because They sold out to Whirlpool to avoid covering their poorly built products that should’ve had been recalled or, came up with a seal to prevent control board burnout! This is my second spillover and the dash control panel is burned out again. At least the range does work because it’s independent from the oven, you do need the control panel to operate the oven. I called KA which is Whirlpool now. Whirlpool, simply have a way of not covering any warranties on KA. They always have an excuse. Or, there’s no record of a complaint by me or by anyone else on this issue!I find that hard to believe because I had a spillover and I called and complained to KA within two months of purchase about the faulty glass top (No Seal) to prevent spillovers from the glass top to the bottom of where the control board burned out. Which they did cover because it was during the warranty period. And their excuse was, “Didn’t you read the manual?” Well No Maam! I didn’t! This is the third one in my family, and there’s been spillovers and nothing was blown out!! I should have realized. They had General Electric ranges. At the cost of $ 480.00 plus labor for the part. We will rather buy a new range other than KA or Whirlpool or any other products made by them!! In the meantime, I’ll be grilling out on the grill ☀️????

We recently purchased a Kitchenaid stainless steel dishwasher from Lowes. It is the quietest dishwasher I have ever had but it stinks! I mean it SMELLS terrible a day after it has been run. Smells like stale garbage filled water. When I questioned KitchenAid about this I was told the dishwasher does not entirely drain as not to dry out the gaskets... Well, that is all well and good but the leftover water stinks. I leave the dishwasher open almost all the time, which is very inconvenient in my small kitchen, to try to get it to dry. I would never recommend this dishwasher to anyone because of this. I tried running the cleaning product (Affresh) thru it but that didnt work. After one additional use, it was back to the same smelly condition. VERY disappointed in the expensive dishwasher.

KitchenAid needs to do a recall on this dishwasher. We have required repair to the top rack tracks on the left and right sides! The circular piece on the track that pops into the dishwasher rack keeps breaking. I am now going online to find replacement parts to (temporarily!!!) fix it myself. When I asked the repairmen who covers KitchenAid warrantees about the rack, he said he had not seen problems so I showed him the hundreds of comments and reviews from people who hate this dishwasher for this very reason. KitchenAid does not care and they can forget this customer forever.

I had an upscale kitchen remodel done and spent probably $75,000 on appliances. I purchased two KitchenAid fridges and microwaves and an under counter ice maker. To date the microwave has almost no power. I have a $35 microwave from Walmart that heats food three times as fast as my KitchenAid. I had service out in the first month because the microwave sounded like a jet engine. They replaced a fan in there and then I had it out again because it just wasn’t powerful enough and they said there was nothing they could do. The cost of the microwave was $2500. One of the fridges randomly will just make this worrying waze. Who knows why. I don’t even want to call service man for that. And the ice maker has given us problems from the first six months. And now the ice maker has died. I would periodically have to unplug it and leave it for a day and plug it in and it would work but now nothing. I think that thing cost $2700. We did not buy these appliances at Lowe’s but at an upscale appliance store where they guaranteed me that it is a better quality than if you purchased a KitchenAid on the floor of a big box store. I would never purchase a KitchenAid appliances again. I also have Wolf Appliance as a double wall oven and a large commercial stove. The double oven timer you can’t hear it and less you have your ear up against it. I had a service man out and he said there’s nothing you can do about that. The commercial stove one of the front electrical ignition switches doesn’t work that up and cost 50,000. It is insanity that these companies are in business. So poor quality and they don’t seem to care. I don’t even know if it’s worth it to have a service man come out and check my ice maker.

W10476359A - This is the WORST dishwasher we have EVER owned!! Initially many of the dishes had food residue after the cycle so in addition to the usual rinsing we began wiping many of the dishes. However we continue to have some food residue on dishes and cutlery and need to re-wash them. We have purchased other dishwashers in the past that were less expensive but clearly better quality. This dishwasher was included in our new townhouse and although it looks sleek and is relatively quiet, its true purpose which is to clean dishes is atrociously substandard. I will NEVER buy another KitchenAid dishwasher!!

I purchased six appliances when I upgraded my kitchen: refrigerator, range, microwave oven, trash compactor, and beverage center to the tune of $10,000. At this point, I would never recommend KitchenAid to anyone. The microwave broke and the part was never available. After months of arguing, I had to get a new one. The refrigerator’s thermostat went out and they did not make the part. I had to get a new refrigerator/freezer. Now, I ran the clean cycle on the oven and the oven overheated and locked up for the second time. The oven is now not operable and I will have to pay a service man to put in another new thermostat. My research shows over 400 complaints. These ovens are a poor design and the self-cleaning feature cannot be used. In addition, I have had to have the trash compactor repaired. The appliances are 36 months old. And when I call KitchenAid, they really dont care to resolve the issues. Very frustrating!

Every time we use the self clean program, the oven locks up and blows the high limit. This is the third time that we have had a service tech out to repair this wall oven today. He said that he had to replace the blower fan. Its because the old one did not produce enough CFH to keep the oven jacket cool near where the limit is. So, today was another $350.00 added to what we already paid for service calls! I called the customer service number again to register my concerns. The fellow at the other end of the line said that there was nothing he or the company will or would do to rectify the problem or recall the oven, or even say I am sorry. So, I told him that I was going to put the bad mouth on the product and company every chance I get. So, here goes buyer beware: KitchenAid will not stand behind their products!

Our new refrigerator like others never made it below 50 degrees in the freezer. That refrigerator was replaced after one week (thankfully) but the new refrigerator has never made more than 12 ice cubes! We called and they replaced the icemaker. Now after one week, since that icemaker also doesnt work, we have called again and scheduled another repair service call. At that time, the operator told us to turn down the temp of the freezer (below the recommended temp) so that it will freeze faster. We will see or we will replace this refrigerator with a different brand. It makes me wonder about the brand new KitchenAid dishwasher and oven we purchased at the same time.

I had the same experience as others on this site when I tried to get the extended warranty repairman to fix the freezer that quit cooling. After replacing the evaporator fan motor, he determined that the HV Board #2252159 needed to be replaced. This control board is no longer stocked by Kitchen Aid and the board has to be removed and sent to a company to rebuild it, which takes several weeks. I will have been without a refrigerator for 3-4 weeks and Kitchen Aid will give no explanation or apology for not finding another company to manufacture the control boards needed to keep their 8-year-old refrigerator operating. The attitude of the Kitchen Aid customer service is that there is nothing they can do about the lack of replacement parts and they see no reason why they should be concerned about their inability to fulfill the extended warranty that they sold me. Do not buy any Kitchen Aid or Whirlpool product. The company has no regard for its customers or the reputation of their products.

The cable pulley broke and came crashing down on my leg. The door is very heavy. I was very fortunate that I was bruised rather than fractured. Also, there was a very loud clashing noise when the blade goes around. Now, I am not using it at all and must call a repair person. Of course, it is no longer under warranty. The KitchenAid dishwasher I purchased in November 2019 is pretty, and its the quietest one Ive ever had. When its running, its hardly noticeable. But...its simply not good at thoroughly cleaning every dish and utensil, especially for the price point (≈$900), to warrant spending the money on it. Add to this, it is horrible at drying the dishes/utensils. I would not purchase again. I bought a suite of KitchenAid appliances when I got it as part of an entire kitchen remodel. The double-oven, dual fuel range and above-range microwave with vent are fantastic, and the cabinet-depth refrigerator is decent. But whoever designs and then builds KitchenAids dishwashers needs to go back to the drawing board. Next purchase will be a Bosch. Stay away from this model from KitchenAid.

It is amazing to me that KitchenAid is continuing to stick their head in the sand when it is obvious that a problem exists with the oven shutting off. I preheated the oven to 375 and put the food in the oven for no more than 15 minutes and the oven shut off. I have tried shutting off the breakers, pressing 3, which I read on a blog resets the lock-out, and nothing worked. So, I googled KitchenAid Superba wall oven and sure enough found the same complaint on multiple sites. This does qualify for a class action lawsuit. I am not one for suing as the lawyers make out the best in the long run. But it is ridiculous that the company has not stepped up and helped out their customers. Shame on you, KitchenAid!

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (KUDP02FSPA3) for my new home. We moved in December of 2007 and by December of 2011 the door to the dishwasher broke. It would no longer spring close. Because this model has the customizable front door to match the cabinets, the door is extremely heavy - heavy enough to kill a small child when the door broke. We immediately removed the cabinet part so that my 12-month-old baby girl would not be harmed or killed by this defect. I called last week to have someone come out and fix my dishwasher door and the cost was $164. Now that I am doing the research online, I see this is a common problem with this dishwasher model. Why does KitchenAid continue to sell a product that has a defect which could kill a small child? Why did we have to pay $164 to fix this common problem? Is KitchenAid waiting for the defect to actually kill a small child before coming up with a permanent solution to the problem?

Our Gas Range/Oven is a little over two years old. It has a self cleaning feature, that you would think I should be able to use. The first few times it worked fine, no issues. I used the self cleaning feature in November of 2017 and received an error message, but didnt really tell me the problem, after it was done the oven door locked and I could not get it to open, even after I tried to cancel and reset. I had to call a repair person, since KitchenAid wanted no part of it, since it was no longer under warranty, how convenient. $180.00 dollars later it was repaired, I needed a new part, since the technician said that with the self cleaning feature it tripped something in the electrical system, and he also added that it will probably happen again. So I have this self cleaning and I cant use it. Unbelievable.Anyway, I did use it again, and no issues, but last night I set to self clean for one hour and guess what, it happened again. My door is locked and the inside oven light is on, and I cant turn it off. I reached out again to KitchenAid, and they were very sorry and would refer this to their support team, but no recalls on my appliance are on file, therefore, they cant do anything for me. Unbelievable, now Im waiting for the repair person again to fix the issue again, and Im the one paying for it. NEVER EVER again will I buy a KitchenAid product. Obviously this is an issue with their product and not my fault, but they could care less.

Our problems with this dishwasher have been multiple over the 2 years and 5 months we have owned it. The electronic control board went bad almost immediately. This was fixed under warranty almost immediately. A few months later water leaked out of the machine and damaged our floors. We received a letter from KitchenAid owning up to the problem, with our model listed among the problem machines. When I called Customer Service to schedule repair I was told the serial number did not match up and that nothing could be done for us. The latest disaster is the warping, popping and breaking of almost all the plastic parts in the upper basket. Again, KitchenAid refuses to stand behind its miserably made product: I am told that I am out of warranty and that the Extended Service plan I purchased does not cover plastic parts. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid large appliance. I will not deal with a company that refuses to stand behind its product.

In our fairly advanced years, my wife and I Splurged on a KitchenAid Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Gas stove, Warming drawer and a lot of other matching KitchenAid appliances and tools to complement our new kitchen. While a bit above our financial means, we purchased these based on KitchenAids reportedly High End quality and reputation with the expectation they would very likely outlast us. The stove, while being a self cleaning model, quickly experienced a failed control panel and we were summarily told that we cleaned our oven too often and the ovens heat fried the high tech front panel electronics. It’s fairly common. ARE THEY KIDDING? OVENS ACTUALLY PRODUCE HEAT? Whod O Thought! Then, our Top of the line Dishwasher went to scrap metal Heaven due to its being used too much... Water steam vapor damaged the doors inside control panel. Hmmm... As we have always done, we do our dishes every day as we strangely appreciate cleanliness and a healthy environment in our home which is evidently contrary to KitchenAid’s philosophy of product serviceability and durability standards. I think I get the part where an appliance would necessarily last longer if its not used, thats pretty simple even for me. What I just can’t seem to grasp though is how KitchenAid obtained its reputation for high end quality (as in durability) if their products require virtual non use to maintain any semblance of usability. Are They Kidding? Seriously? And as for the very expensive KitchenAid refrigerator we ordered direct from the factory? It was missing a plastic grill like air disperser part that subsequently caused a complete failure of the entire refrigerator and freezer shortly after the warranty expired. WooHooo... Im so happy, I wish I could say what I really think about KitchenAid and their products but the NSA would lock me up forever. KitchenAid obviously has their piece of the Corporate American Pie. Unfortunately, by most of the comments Ive read, it seems that consumer dissatisfaction will continue to be an ongoing experience for and at the expense of a growing number of very angry KitchenAid customers. Until that is, enough consumers educate themselves en-mass and RE-RATE KitchenAid products to accurately reflect the extremely poor quality and reputation they deserve. Seriously KitchenAid. ARE YOU KIDDING?

I bought my french door bottom mount refrigerator in 2013. I have started having issues with the freezer and ice maker. The technician who came to check the fridge told me that this is a very common problem with KitchenAid. We have to pay $390.00 for labor and if the parts are not covered in extended warranty pay for that too. Our extended warranty ran out in 2018. We were also told that the dye leaks and it will have to be replaced every 4 or 6 months. I am annoyed at the expense this fridge is going to cost us. I called the appliance pros for KitchenAid and they did not help in any way. They are very rude and nobody knows anything there. They went on telling me, “We dont know how things work in Canada.” Well why then are you selling appliances in Canada. They know how to give customers a runaround and beat about the bush. I purchased a Kitchen Aid two-drawer dishwasher in 2009. This has been the biggest problem appliance I have ever purchased. I am glad I paid for the extended warranty because the techs have been out every 90 days maybe more and they know my address for the same problem that keeps happening. It is the Bizel that are located in the top and bottom drawers, that continue to break... AND when they do if the dishwasher is not monitored, it causes water to leak all over my hardwood floors that are ruining them. The warranty company informed me that if it is not a major component, they will not replace the unit. Obviously, this is a major component as if this component breaks you cannot run the dishwasher?? So, how can Kitchen Aid determine that this is not a major component. This was an expensive dishwasher and also you cannot fit any regular sized plates because they do not fit...so we have to eat off of appetizer plates. I will never buy a Kitchen Aid appliance ever again. Kitchen Aid needs to resolve this problem or I am taking this issue to attorneys that I work for. One really unhappy Kitchen Customer!

We have a 6-year-old Kitchen Aid (subsidiary of Whirlpool) built-in refrigerator. It is now longer able to maintain the appropriate temperatures, and the problem has been diagnosed by the Kitchen Aid authorized repair service as a defective control board. Unfortunately, Kitchen Aid (and Whirlpool) made or obtained these control boards from a factory in Japan that was destroyed by the Tsunami (this was over two years ago). Rather than sourcing this part from somewhere else, Kitchen Aid has decided to tell its customers that they are on their own. The only possibility seems to be to remove the control board and ship it to a company (Core Centric) in Illinois to have it refurbished. If the part gets lost, or damaged, or is unable to be refurbished, you are just out of luck. I assume this is the same situation for other parts in Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool appliances, as I assume the factory in Japan made more than just one part. This is outrageous conduct on the part of Kitchen Aid - I thought there was a Federal requirement that parts be available for items manufactured and sold for at least 7 years. The tsunami was unfortunate, but surely two years is long enough for Kitchen Aid to have found a way to obtain repair parts for its appliances. This sounds like a great opportunity for a class action lawsuit against Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool. There must be lots of customers that have been harmed by their action, or inaction. In our case, we will end up spending hundreds of dollars sending the control board out to be refurbished, and probably going for an extended period without a refrigerator (cant work with no control board). If the control board cant be repaired (for whatever reason), we will have to purchase a replacement built-in refrigerator, and have our kitchen cabinets redone so the new refrigerator will fit - estimated cost of that would be $10,000 or more.

We selected KitchenAid panel ready, so our custom kitchen would have a designer look. Imagine how disappointed we were to learn that this refrigerator IS NOT counter depth!! The sides of the refrigerator stick out a 1/4 of an inch too far, and The sides of the door show. I understood the sides of the door would show, because you would not be able to open the refrigerator if the sides were enclosed. What I did not know or expect was the refrigerator to be black!!! Why would a black refrigerator be made for white panels? Why did my sales person not tell me I was getting a black refrigerator, especially since I was going to be seeing the sights around the door in my all white custom kitchen? EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION: The spec sheets that KitchenAid provides for your designer and cabinet builders is INCORRECT!! At least ours are! You should review yours!! We purchased a brand new refrigerator in May. By June, it was not keeping things as cold as it should and the frozen foods started melting. We contacted KitchenAid, which sent out a person from A&E Appliance who stated that it was not fixable and reported this to KitchenAid. We were then told that we had to have someone come for a second opinion, which we have never heard of with a brand new appliance. The second opinion said that it needs a compressor. We were then told that this persons assessment is still not enough and that a supervisor now needs to look at the fridge. By this time, we have lost hundreds of dollars in frozen foods and are unable to purchase food for the week, causing us to go to the store each day to buy what normally could be kept frozen. Months later, we still have no working brand new fridge! We were told a part has to be ordered which takes another few weeks. When it arrived, my husband called and they arranged a time for the part to be installed. The person never showed even though my husband and I made sure that one of us was here all day. The appointment gets rescheduled and the person did not show again. When he was contacted, he stated that he was from the business that made the first assessment and refused to put the part in. We want a brand new fridge, which we paid for, in our house within the next week.
