I purchased my machine in 2019. The only concern I have with this machine is that I’m never sure of the amount of water that fills the tub with some features that I’m not used to. The tub on this machine enables me to wash very large loads including my queen size quilt. After washing, my clothes are practically dried which cuts down on my electric bill for the dryer. The drain and spin feature allows for a drier finish. Everything else is good. As long as you’re using the right soap the clothes are the cleanest.

2 year old GE ADORA dishwasher - I am so disturbed tonight after seeing what happened to the protection rubber that is on the exterior of my dishwasher. I decided to buy a new dishwasher because the bottom tray would not stop when pulled out at the correct stopping point. Today I got my new dishwasher installed and when the installers pulled the old one out I was shocked to see that the protectant that I would assume was placed to protect my house was melted all over my wall behind the dishwasher. WOW. Talk about a MAJOR fire hazard. Thank God my house didnt catch on fire because of this faulty equipment. Check out my pictures and you will see the pile of protectant that was under, on my wall, and behind the dishwasher once it was pulled out. Sincerely concerned.

We have a GE built-in combination oven and microwave. The oven gets up to heat very quickly and bakes in less time than recipes call for baking. The microwave is an 1100 watt unit and performs equally well, and has for 29 years, Our cook top is a GE glass top unit, installed 11 years ago in a kitchen upgrade, performs equally well, though not quite as fast heating as our old gas unit but much cleaner and attractive. I just remodeled my kitchen back in May of 2012. My wife and I started looking for the appliances and we decided to get the GE Cafe series set (dishwasher, cooktop, electric oven and microwave). Our microwave oven, model CVM1790SS1SS, developed a humming noise as soon as you closed the door. It does sound like the magnetron is on. To verify that, I filled a cup with cold water and I put it inside and closed the door without setting any cooking time. After three minutes, the water was too hot to touch. I called GE and told them that it was a fire hazard. They sent one of their technicians and he determined that it was not a fire hazard and if I wanted it fixed, I have to pay for it. How could he say its not? If I close the door, the oven is going to continue heating up until it burns itself and everything else around it. I am pissed at GE because this unit is barely one year old and expensive. This is a safety hazard and GE failed to acknowledge. Bottom line, Ill never buy GE again and will not recommend it to anyone.

Our brand new GE Profile dishwasher wasnt cleaning dishes (even after rinsing them before stacking them in the dishwasher). GE technician came several times and lectured me how I need to open hot water faucet before turning on the dishwasher, about how I should stack the dishes in the dishwasher, etc... all bogus talk. Our builder was kind enough to replace the dishwasher because he saw how frustrating it was to deal with GE service. The new GE Profile (i.e. replaced by builder) works without opening hot water faucet, or washing the dishes or stacking them in any particular manner. In summary, I wouldnt recommend GE Products because GE service is HORRIBLE and their products arent that great. I have GE Profile all over my kitchen. Within the first year, my microwave, dishwasher and built-in fridge broke down!!!

GE Adora Microwave DVM 1950 purchased at Home Depot - Update to a previous review. After speaking with Home Depot employees, GE service scheduler and finally Consumer Relations, that person agreed to schedule a repairman to come to our home and repair the microwave no charge. I certainly hope it can be repaired because until a couple weeks ago, I loved this over the range microwave. The warranty was for a year. We purchased it April 2012 but it wasnt used for six months so really only used 10 months, by two people!!

Our GE microwave just stopped working after 3 or 4 years. It was manufactured 4 years ago, but I am not exactly sure when we purchased and installed it... It may have sat on the shelf for a year. It is not the touch panel, the lights, timer, clock... They all work. In fact, I can put in a time to cook and push START and the timer will start counting down as if the microwave is cooking, but it is totally silent, no turntable, no noise, no nothing. The new replacement model number is the JVM6175 but I am scared to buy it, as I am so disappointed in GE. All the washers, dryers, microwaves, and refrigerators we have bought over the last 30 years have only lasted 3 to 7 years. The only appliance by GE we have purchased that seems to be still working is the dishwasher. We only used this microwave to heat up coffee or some leftovers. It is not being used to cook big meals or anything like that. GE has just gone downhill, it appears. I think I will just give up on them totally.

I bought a GE PEB7227 Profile Microwave and after 6 months the door latch breaks. Service tech comes and says, Sorry parts are back ordered for 3 months (including new frame due to damage done to it getting the thing open). I call GE customer care. Explain that its obviously cheaper to drop ship me a new unit (and I will waive the new frame) than all of the parts, frame and a second call to fix the unit. Their answer, buy a new unit at a discount or simply go without a microwave for 3 months. Add me to the list of victims trying to warn others to NEVER buy a GE product.

We have a GE profile dishwasher for about 14 months. I just found out last week that its out of warranty and that the 2 circuit boards inside are bad so the tech came out and didnt have a replacement board on his truck saying they never have problems with this dishwasher so hell order this part and be shipped to my house. He would install it on the following Thursday so Im sitting here waiting for service. I finally called to find out that GE decided that it is going to be repaired on Friday. I did not know this of course so I asked for a supervisor. I was put on hold with no answers, finally hung up in disgust.

I purchased a stainless steel GE dishwasher for $508.68 since I remodeled my kitchen October 2016, I contacted GE in March 2017 because the stainless steel on the dishwasher door started to have rust spots, they sent a technician to look at it, they told me that they cannot replace it because the aesthetic warranty is only good for 30 days. They authorized the technician to replace the door, however I have the same issue with the new door, and also the dishwasher stopped working. I contacted them again. The technician was able to fix the dishwasher, but as far as the stains on the door they told me thats an aesthetic issue. They cant do anything about it. I called the consumer relations department. I spoke with CIARA GE case # **. They offered me a small discount and I have to come up with $400.00 to buy a new dishwasher.I feel that a good business should always stand behind its products. The dishwasher obviously is defective, they sold me an appliance that supposed to be stainless steel but its something else, the right thing for GE to do is to exchange the defective product for the right one. I am very frustrated that in less than a year I have to spend over $900.00 for a dishwasher. I am great customer for GE, I remodeled my kitchen, I purchased a GE refrigerator, cooktop, oven, kitchen hood, microwave and dishwasher, I think I deserve better than a small discount for a defective product.

Super sad about the performance of this dishwasher. This is the second leak in a year. The first time my husband fixed with new GE pump because we wanted the dishwasher up and running and the scheduled repair time was out more than a week. We were also told there would be no reimbursement to the damage to the brand new floor that was damaged. This time I REFUSE to have him fix the dishwasher even though once again the repair time is out more than a week. The cost of this dishwasher should warrant a functioning product.

Unit is only 7 years old and not greatly used (only two adults who dont use it much)… Purchased as part of package including GE refrigerator, range and dishwasher (already got rid of refrigerator, as parts kept breaking and unit had other chronic problems). I turned the microwave on to make popcorn - it immediately made a terrible noise and filled with smoke with an electrical smell. Unplugged the unit and contacted GE Repair. When I described what happened, I was transferred immediately to their safety unit because of the nature of the problem. A GE technician arrived today and almost immediately diagnosed the problem: a metal component that directs the waves of the microwave generation tube had burned out, and by federal regulation, he claimed, cannot be repaired - the whole appliance must be trashed and replaced. Once again, I have experienced GEs poorly engineered products that appear to be designed to fail in a relatively short time. Can you spell planned obsolescence? (No photo provided, as there is no external visual damage).

Coincidence or not but after posting my review, threatening to get the attorney general involved, putting pressure on local GE distributor through the builder, we have received a replacement dishwasher. This is not a happy ending yet unfortunately. The installer who delivered the unit was filling in for someone who took a day off and was not familiar with complete process. He came to our house at 9am and left at 2:20pm after spending hours reading instructions and maps on how to put things together. The new unit works okay for now but does have a slow drip from the upper left corner. This has been an extremely frustrating battle and we are now more worried about what happens after the warranty runs out if problems continue. One option is to buy extended warranty and give GE more business, second is just to replace it with more reliable brand. I am giving GE two more stars for replacing the problem unit but we are still hurt from the entire process, especially after buying top of the line product. We truly feel that customer service people should have been more sensitive and understanding of the consumer instead of firing back. Their bad attitude really did not help and added more frustration.

Greetings fellow GE Appliances fans! I suppose youre all wondering why I gathered you here, so let me first say this wasnt Plan A, which was to give GE Appliances a quiet and fair opportunity to set things right. After all it is Easter and we should all be grateful for second chances or, in GEs case, fifth chances. Now about halfway through the below some of you are going to wonder why I didnt switch to another brand sooner, but Ive saved that answer for the end because, quite frankly, its the absolute best part of the story. And since most stories have a hero Ill tell you why The Home Depot, where we purchased the GE dishwasher, is the hero of this tale.On Feb 16, 2019 I purchased a new GE Dishwasher which was installed by GE. It subsequently overflowed causing approximately $18,000 in damage to the wood floors in our kitchen and our basement ceiling. GEs technician confirmed the cause was a defective factory drain pump and documented that GE was responsible for the damage. I was instructed to contact Sedgwick, their insurance claims administrator. Well have more on that later. On March 9 I received a 2nd GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect and subsequently overflowed and caused additional damage to our home. I hired an independent plumber who confirmed the installation and home plumbing were fine and that it was, in fact, a defect with the dishwasher. On March 15 I received a 3rd GE dishwasher, however it was damaged during shipment so GE was unable to install. On March 22 I received a 4th GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect, but we caught it in time to prevent another overflow. On April 3 I received a 5th (yes, 5th) dishwasher which worked once (or so we thought) but as it turned out also had the drain defect. We caught it in time to prevent another overflow. We also had an independent plumber confirm (again) there were no issues with the installation or our home plumbing. This included disconnecting the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal and pointing it into a bucket. The dishwasher simply would not drain. At this point youre probably thinking how stupid it was for me to keep requesting replacements from GE and you would be correct...which brings me to my favorite part of the story. You see, even though GE refused to switch me to an entirely different GE model dishwasher line despite multiple requests, they promised to compensate us for our inconvenience which would take into account how long we went without a dishwasher (approaching two months now), how much work I missed (numerous vacation days) due to installation and repair appointments, and warned me that if I switched to another brand that their policy was to not compensate.I cant tell you how much they repeatedly emphasized the compensation aspect, so when we finally received what we thought was a working dishwasher I called to request compensation. Their offer was (drum roll...) $25.00. I literally laughed out loud (LLOLd). To be fair, after expressing some slight dissatisfaction with their offer, they raised it some but its not worthy of an additional drum roll.Fast forward to today (Apr 21, 2019) and we still have a defective GE dishwasher in our home and are still washing dishes by hand which, for a family of four, is no small daily task. GE was actually supposed to remove the dishwasher from our home yesterday, but arrived and said they couldnt because our replacement dishwasher (a Bosch...we gave up on GE) had not arrived. They already knew this before they came because: 1. We told them and; 2...wait for it...THEY were the ones supposed to deliver and install it. Weve been courteous, patient, and have done everything GE asked, but have been treated very poorly in return. I will say that most, but definitely not everyone I spoke with at GE Appliances, was polite however none of them seemed to be empowered to truly help us.As for Sedgwick (GEs insurance claims administrator): were still waiting for them to pay for the approximately $18,000 in damage to our home. Our wood floors are turning black and theres now a musty smell in our finished basement. Its been approximately 52 days and Im starting to doubt theyre ever going to pay for the damage to our familys home.Im sure some of you will say youve had GE products for years with no problems, so let me say that Im genuinely happy for you. We were, and somewhat reluctantly still are, a GE family. The last three custom homes weve built, including our current home, all had GE appliances by choice. But in the last five years weve had the original dishwasher in our brand new home break in just three years (heating element) which is what started this replacement debacle, the fan motor on our brand new refrigerator break in just four years costing us several hundred dollars in groceries and a $200 repair bill (and its starting to make the same loud noise again so may fail again soon), and a glass defect in the microwave within two years of purchase. As for the hero of this story, The Home Depot, I simply cant say enough good things about the store and their management team. Even though this was not their fault they apologized, agreed to switch us to another dishwasher brand, and paid the difference in price (even though we volunteered to pay the difference ourselves). They made it clear we were valued and said you are our customer and we are going to help you.GE must have known The Home Depot would do this, because GE is the one who told us to call and suggested The Home Depot might do something for us...something GE apparently wasnt willing to do themselves. For now it seems that GE Appliances not only mistreated our family, but The Home Depot as well. Im not suggesting that you should or should not buy GE appliances, but IF you do and IF its defective and IF it damages your home then buckle up. It may be a long, painful, and stressful ride with no end in sight.

Because we have a combo microwave and oven, the entire unit must be replaced. Thats around $2400. We cannot match the color, because they dont make bisque appliances any more. I was very impressed by the look of the GE over-the-range microwave oven but my impressed state faded not too long after I began using the oven. My typical usage ranges from heating something for 20 seconds to soups for three to four minutes. Within the first month of purchase, the paint on the floor of the oven was peeling off, exposing the metal color. I was only wiping/drying out the oven with a soft cloth, never using an abrasive product or cloth, so the peeling paint was only due to moisture. I have now owned the oven for just over 14 months and not only is the floor nearly completely devoid of the white painted surface but I just had a quick fire when thawing frozen onion chips for 10 seconds. My previous, much less expensive microwave lasted nearly 7 years, so its a shame that a supposedly better model cannot match the longevity of the GE model. Looks aside, I would not recommend a GE microwave oven to anyone looking for a new or replacement microwave.

The service guy shows up and says all he has in his order is General other service needed and that he doesnt have the keypad panel. Gives us an estimate of $501 to repair it. Tells us a new one costs $400 and with a coupon he can give us it will be $100 less. We were charged $99 for this visit which basically lasted 10 minutes (way to go GE on making money off faulty devices you sell). The service-person also told us that the average life was 10 years for these, but this one crapped out in 3. We first noticed a problem with our two-year old dishwasher when the lower spray arm broke. Soon after, the door seals started to leak, and we noticed the seal at the bottom of the door had completely degraded becoming brittle and breaking off. Our warranty had expired, but I contacted Mabe. They agreed to replace the parts free of charge, which amounted to approximately $300. I expressed concern that the dishwasher may have been overheating, causing the above problems, but this wasnt given credence as the technician didnt speculate in his report on the cause of the damage.Within the next month, we had a massive water leak. Upon inspection, the dishwasher showed signs of extreme heat. The sound insulation had bubbled and melted off much of the exterior of the tub. The electrical supply cord had a scorch mark. Once again, Mabe was notified. After much negotiation, they agreed to refund the price of the dishwasher. Initially, they had offered a certificate valued at 50% of the cost of our dishwasher towards the purchase of another GE dishwasher. This offer was declined as we wont have another GE dishwasher in our home unless were convinced theres no fire hazard. There are significant repairs required to our home due to water damage but we consider ourselves lucky to have avoided a fire. GE has had problems with their dishwashers in the past which resulted in a massive recall. Its time for them to acknowledge that there is a problem with the Cafe line and take measures to rectify the problem before someone is injured.

I notice when cleaning the inside of the microwave that the coating on the top (ceiling) of the microwave has bubbled and cracked and there is a hole in the interior top coating. This unit is about 9 years old, and is a dual unit as the bottom is a convection oven with very little use. Im told I need to replace the microwave. I have never seen bubbled and cracked interior in many years of owning and using this type of appliance. The photo shows the defects in the lining coating. Im really upset about this.

I bought the Cafe dishwasher model #CDT855P2NS1, for $995, it arrived defective with the wrong size parts inside causing the door to not shut properly (as inspected by GE repairman). This was over 4 months ago. Since then I have been told to call every two weeks to see when a replacement model would be available in the warehouse (each of this calls required sitting on hold for over an hour). Despite having many of this model dishwasher for sale on the GE website, I have been told for over four months to call back in two weeks, because none are available at the warehouse and this is the only place you can source them from. Now I am being offered the price I paid for the dishwasher despite the exact replacement now costing $1,277, from the same place as the previous one was ordered from. This doesn’t include the $149 to install the new dishwasher to replace the defective one that was initially installed, which I am being told will not be reimbursed. I just want to warn everyone about not purchasing this product or expecting any support from GE.

I purchased a new Modular home. It came equipped with all GE appliances back in August of 2006. The dishwasher has recently been burning the basket prongs off, as apparently the coils are over heating! I had called GE about the danger of it being another recall. Microwave GE Monogram - For the second time in as many years, the glass door on my microwave just blew out and spewed glasses all over my kitchen. Luckily, no one was hurt except we are still getting glass in our feet a week later. My husband and I both contacted GE by email with no response whatsoever. Clearly, having read about this happening to many others, this product should have been recalled. It is their top of the line. The microwave wasnt even in use. GE must not need any customers and they have sure lost this one.

Purchased a GE over-the-range microwave worth about $400. About 2/1/2 yrs in it stopped working. Had a GE repairman come out to fix it. They charge $95 just to come out. I complained so they gave me 50% off parts and labor after the initial investment. It took him about ten minutes to pull out the defective part, a $10 thermostat which he replaced. Total cost: $162. Ive had GE products for years but the new ones are much more cheaply made IMHO. Made in Malaysia. In addition, the handle is breaking off as are plastic parts coming of the top of it. I guess Ill consider getting extended warranties from now on because these products are cheap. If Id had it longer, Id have bought a new one instead of fixing it.

We bought 3 GE Profile appliances in 2005 when we renovated our kitchen. We have not had much problem with the gas oven/range/stove. We have, however, had nothing but problems with the microwave (which I submitted a separate review for) and the dishwasher. Recently, a friend made some suggestions regarding the dishwasher. I then went online and watched some tutorials on troubleshooting my dishwasher problems. I tried all the new suggestions and the dishwasher worked OK the one or two times after that and then back to all the old problems: 1. We have to scour every dish until its nearly clean before loading (even though the instructions specifically stated no pre-rinsing necessary). 2. I am not sure the soap cup opens. The soap is always left caked in the cup resulting in running the dishwasher twice. We have tried all kinds of various soaps and they all do the same thing. The eco-friendly soaps are the worst. We strive to be eco-friendly, but how can we be if we are using the harshest soaps possible AND running our dishwasher twice?! Not to mention the pre-rinse scour and running water until it is 120 degrees prior to running.3. The dishwasher also leaks and is very noisy.I have read some other reviews on this product and realize our dishes are not always dry at the end. This is a non-issue for me. I dont care so much if the dishes are dry. I do prefer for them to be clean. Dishes are a task I do not prefer to do. It would be nice to have a functioning helper. I am grateful the thing hasnt caught on fire. I saw that this dishwasher currently sells for $800-$1,500. I cannot believe it. I wouldnt spend $100 on this piece of junk.

This GE CVM2072SM1SS Microwave (over-range model) worked fine for five years. Then, we discovered the plastic film over the touchscreen starting to peel. After a bit of wrangling with Consumer Relations, they sent me a replacement touchscreen. The LCD didnt display properly, so they sent me another one. It worked for three months, then in the middle of programming to reheat some food, we got the following error message: Control Fault, Shorted touchscreen - F10. The control has detected a shorted touchscreen and has shut off the oven. It may still be possible to use the oven. However, if this message continues to appear, your oven will require service. The only way to clear the message was to unplug the unit. No amount of replugging in cleared the message. I called GE and they said they would replace the entire unit with a new model under some program they had. Sounded fine to me. I left the house. When I returned, I received a message that their representative called back to say they would not replace the unit, since the program had expired. Huh? I called again, and after a bunch more wrangling, they agreed to send a service tech out and replace whatever needed replacing or fixing at no charge. Of course, they never really made a notation of that, so when he got here, he had to get on the phone and sort it out. Finally, he replaced the touchscreen. Lets see how long it lasts this time.

This unit was purchased at Lowes on 11/22/16 and installed by our plumber shortly thereafter. Its not even 6 months old! It was poor at drying at first and then stopped drying altogether about a month ago. The GE Customer Service has sent a repairman here on 4 occasions in the past few weeks, sent faulty parts, including an element and a board (Im guessing that they mean a motherboard) but it is still swimming in water. Ive asked them to replace the dishwasher, to which they have refused. Yes we are irate, and rightly so. Whatever happened to quality manufacturing and decent customer service? I will never buy another GE product again. There should be lemon laws for appliances. Now we are being informed that the parts are back ordered until September, but that they might be able to get them from California on or about the 25th. Their apologies mean nothing when they do not back it up by amending the situation in an appropriate manner. By the way it takes 256 minutes for a full cycle. The plus side is that it is very quiet, but Im not sure how energy efficient a dishwasher can be that runs that blasted long. It doesnt clean very well either. If considering the dishwasher or another appliance, stay away from GE Is our recommendation.

We purchased a new home in 2014 with all new GE appliances. The dishwasher has never cleaned the dishes. I have to wash the dishes before I load them in the dishwasher. I might as well use the dishwasher as a drying rack. We had a service person come out before the warranty expired. We have used all of the proper cleaning recommendations and setting per the service person. Not even 2 years later, the dishwasher started leaking and ruining our hardwoods. The dishwasher was quiet but then started making a horrible noise and a burning smell emanated when door was opened. Unfortunately all of our kitchen appliances are GE. If we replace any of the appliances, they will not be GE. I will also be getting in touch with the builder of our home to let them know that GE appliances are not reliable. GE needs to recall this dishwasher.

I have had two service calls on this dishwasher (Model Number GDT65SMJ0ES) and it is 18 months old. The first was to replace the heating element, which was under warranty. The recent problem was a cut-off switch that will trip when needed. The technician hooked up his computer to turn it back on, a very quick procedure, and it cost us almost $100. This unit should have a trip switch like a vacuum or garbage disposal so that the owner can do it themselves. After that, if the dishwasher still doesnt work, then a call for repair could be made. By the way, the repairman was very nice and respectful to us.

The door broke around the handle and the hinges, and was replaced shortly after buying it. Then it broke again and I replaced it myself. Then it broke again. This makes me not want to try another GE product. The fridge shelves all broke because they were plastic. The washer fell apart shortly after a year. We got the GE cafe series appliances with our house. We just completed 16 months in our new house and the microwave stopped working. We had to call the GE cafe person to troubleshoot the problem. He charged us $80 (without even touching the microwave) and said we will have to spend $450 more to fix it. This is such a horrible customer experience. I had a $40 microwave in my old apartment which lasted for 4 years without a single problem. I am definitely not paying $450 for a useless microwave. But now I am worried about remaining appliances I have from GE. I understand that you would say you cant do anything as the appliances are not in warranty anymore. I have had a few cheap microwaves but at this point in my life I wanted to buy a good quality microwave that would last. Well I bought a 200 dollar GE microwave in February. 3 months later it went out on me. I did hard and soft reset numerous times with no success. They offered me a discounted check to replace it and it would take 4-6s weeks to receive. Instead we returned to place of purchase and they gave us a floor model to replace it. All was well for 2 months when lo and behold this one started doing the same thing. No amount of resetting would make it run. It went out cooking corn on the cob. Why is this so hard to keep running? Their response this time was a goodwill rebate certificate to purchase only a GE microwave. Why in heavens name would I want another one? It only lasts a couple of months and who is to say the 3rd replacement will not be the same.

I work as a service tech for a major insurance company. I am a master tech, and master electrician. The company that I work for owns an apartment complex which is used to house company executives whose offices are located at other sites, but often come to the Chattanooga Site to work short term. I was called to repair an old dishwasher in one of the apartments. Upon looking at the existing dishwasher, I decided to replace with a new one. I received a new GE model GDF 510 PGD 1WW dishwasher on November 8, 2013. As usual I unpackaged the appliance and examined the exterior. Finding no visible damage, and with the help of a master plumber, I removed the old dishwasher, and installed the new one. After all the connections were made, I opened the door, removed all the packaging from the dishwasher, and found the upper spray arm lying in disarray in the bottom of the machine. Assuming that this was the way that the machine was packaged, I installed the spray arm, plugged the machine up and started the machine as the operations manual instructed. The machine would not work. The power lamp would burn solid for a few seconds and start flashing. I tried to start the machine a number of times while reading the instructions, and while my partner read the instructions aloud, but with no results. Finally, I used a screwdriver to hold the door switch closed, pressed the start button and the unit started. The catch mounted on the door would not make the door switch, mounted on the machine body. We tried to adjust the switch and the catch, but with no success. The dishwasher did not show any signs of exterior shipping damage, but for some reason the upper spray arm was off and lying in the bottom of the unit, I found a small piece of broken plastic and a screw in the bottom of the machine, and the door switch would not make. Outside that I have no complaints. I am not sure where this machine was assembled, but it certainly was not equal to the machine that we removed. Thanks GE for making my job harder. I will have to find another dishwasher Monday and replace the damaged one, and perhaps send this one back, but the replacement will certainly be another brand.

But this 90s GE microwave keeps humming along. The options for different cleaning levels are great. It does a good job at cleaning our dishes. My only negative comment is that it was new when the house was built in 2017. I purchased a newly built home which had all GE appliances in the kitchen. After 2 years and 5 months, the microwave no longer heats the food. I had a 3rd party appliance repairman come to do a diagnostic evaluation. He informed me that the magnetron has gone bad. To have this repaired would be the same price as purchasing a new microwave. He also informed me that the magnetron should never go bad in such a short amount of time. I contact GE and my warranty was for 2 year so the best they can offer is a $75 good will certificate. What this means is I have to purchase a new microwave and send in proof of purchase and in 4-8 week, GE will send me a $75 rebate check.I am disappointed in the GE product. Their products are now made in Asia (my microwave says made in Malaysia) for cheap labor and the quality has gone down. What is worse is that they do not stand by their product. The fact that something as serious as the magnetron went out in less than 3 years is a red flag that it was not assembled correctly. The microwave is listed at over $500. I would have been happy with GE even paying half but $75 will not even cover the cost for shipping and installation. I am very disappointed.

The ONLY solution that they offered me was a replacement that I had to purchase! Bottom line the experience cost me close to 675.00!! The Original GE Dishwasher cost me 1,000.00!! GE refused to take the dishwasher back or even give me any type of credit for what I have. What I have now is another GE piece of junk that I had to pay full price for - $550.00 + tax, etc... The washer runs forever - does a terrible job in washing & rinsing & leaves a film & a white powder-like film on the glasses. Ive changed detergents in an effort to get a decent wash out of it & that hasnt worked. I am so sorry that I spent so much money for GEs Top of the Line appliances only to end up frustrated with GE Junk & a Customer Service Department that was just as good as their product. I would NEVER purchase or even think of purchasing another GE product!!! My advice to anyone considering purchasing ANY GE Product is Dont Do It.

From these posts, Ive seen people saying that they couldnt trust GE American-made anymore. Our microwave oven was made in Malaysia, but GEs home office appears to be in Louisville, Kentucky. Our problem: peeling paint on the door and upper part of our 2009 GE #JES1451DN1WW oven. As a cancer survivor of 8 years, my antenna goes up with any defaults such as this. On a common sense scale this should never be happening. I was very sad to see no recalls on these items Ive been reading about and am frankly scared to use this microwave. Shame on you, GE.

In January 2010, I bought a sensor cooking microwave oven (Model: JES1460DN1BB Serial #: MS900742B). I paid almost $500.00 for it. Now, in less than two years, the inside is already clipping off so it is dangerous to use. I returned it to the store and was told that the guarantee was good for only one year. So, I would have to pay to have it repaired. My last microwave (before GE) lasted well over 10 years. I always thought that GE was a good company; I guess not. I feel that it is their fault. I seldom use the microwave and I even clean it with a damp cloth. I do not think that I should have to pay for the repairs and I should be given some kind of a discount on a new one. I feel that GE is now in the business of making effective appliances. They should stand behind what they make.

On 05/04/2014, our GE microwave over the stove unit burst into flames. My wife was sitting in our family room and heard the microwave fan start (spontaneously). Then she observed flames reflected in the kitchen window. When she went to the kitchen, she observed the interior of the microwave was aflame. The fire was extinguished with a spray bottle of water. The burning items appeared to be insulation. The fan from the microwave was with the burning insulation on the rotating plate.

20-month old G.E. Space Saver microwave (HVM1540) started to fizzle out by showing signs of running, but not heating; display flickering on and off with odd symbols; and vent, at times, not able to turn off unless I unplugged the whole unit. Anyhow, brand new home with brand new GE appliances, and I have had to replace the ice maker three times in my GE Profile refrigerator, and now this, my microwave. Service department stated that if I pay for the service call and the magnetron, they could guarantee the part for 5 years. But if it should go out, I would have to pay for labor again. Labor is guaranteed for 30 days. No thank you. I am very disappointed in GE products. Single mom, on a single income in rough economic times, I cant afford to purchase GE products again, and again, and again.

New house and all appliances came w/ it, used washer once to make sure plumbed correctly. It is the best storage container and no one looks in it... by not using it saved $38 a month in water bill and controlled water usage, throwing used water out on plants in drought, if need to sterilize put bleach in rinse water. I had 10 family members may have to use it other than for storage. Love to get a clothes pole for hanging laundry but God given rights of free sun and drying has been removed from us by associations. My machine is there if I need it. But great multipurpose and never complains... course after 13 years, crumbs in bottom and should run soon to clean it out... Its black and as this was a speculation home, builders chose colors... it doesnt show dirt as white appliances does... would buy same color again.. although real dark with oak kitchen.

I bought this microwave about 2 years ago (2011). Yesterday the microwave turned on by itself, I tried to stop it by hitting the clear button that didnt work so I had to unplug it. When I plugged it back in it seemed ok so I reset the clock but within minutes it started again, this time the key pad read key pad short-circuit and then went blank. I am glad I was home when it happened. I am now wondering if I should repair it or replace it.

This microwave (jvm1540dm5ww) works fine but the plastic door is fracturing into bits. I expect this is because of faulty plastic in China. Cheap alternatives for fast profits. The machine is out of warranty. Replacement door is almost 160$ with shipping. Planned obsolescence by corporate America. This machine works fine but is a waste because I don’t trust the replacement materials to be any more stable. I rated this a two because the actual operation is fine. Sorry GE. I will not buy your brand.

GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days
GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days ago, our GE Cafe Series dishwasher nearly caused a fire. If I had not been home that day, it surely would have. I ran the dishwasher as usual and went about my day several hours later. I detected a strange acrid smell and with my five-year-old who was ill and at home that day, discovered the dishwasher door was burning hot to the touch. I needed a potholder to open the door. Once opened, there was a blast of heat and smoke. I needed to use oven mitts to protect my hands from the heat to pull the racks out and handle the dishes. The heating element did not deactivate at the end of the cycle. If I had not been at home, the house would have been destroyed as all the plastic items on the top rack in the dishwasher melted. In addition the plastic parts of the lower rack, the wheels and their clips; the silverware holder; covers; the clips that hold the pot tins in place were destroyed, to the point that the majority of our silverware was coated with plastic. The plastic on the lower water dispenser has been demolished; it completely melted more than 50% of the plastic covering on the arm and is charred and burned. We are so lucky to still have a home! The door must be kept open. When the door is closed, the element super heats and presents a major fire hazard. We have noticed that there is a recall for similar models with plastic tubs, but ours has a stainless tub. GE needs to broaden the recall to include all these models. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed immediately. Our GE Cafe Series dishwasher model #CDW9380N20SS was installed on October 1, 2008. I would not be surprised to find that parts from the recall in April 2008 were also used in the Cafe Series. I have discovered in the few days since the DW units malfunction that there are over 1000 complaints listed with similar, even identical complaints, on multiple internet sites with the same problems.

Two years ago, I replaced my 25-year-old GE bottom-of-the-line dishwasher because it made a noise like a freight train. I was ecstatically happy to have a brand new top-of-the-line stainless steel GE Profile dishwasher that hardly made a sound while working. Well, that is the best part of the new machine because it also hardly cleans. We have tried different detergents, additives, etc. We have checked our water temp, pressure, etc. Not only does the machine not clean all the silverware/dishes, it doesnt dissolve and remove all of the liquid detergent, so I have to run the machine through another rinse cycle. We are so frustrated in my house that we have finally given up and now hand wash our dishes. I hate this dishwasher and would never buy another GE product again! I also had an issue with a GE bottom freezer fridge. But thats another story. By the way, the old 25-year-old machine? It always got my dishes clean.

Its almond/bone colour. The hoses are flimsy. They seem like they could leak at any moment. Not sure Id buy another GE.

I bought a GE Adora dishwasher from Home Depot. There is nothing technically wrong with it - in other words - it is not malfunctioning. It is just that its normal operation is AWFUL, in my opinion. The PROS: it is very quiet. The CONS: it does not clean your dishes! And since this is the primary function of a dishwasher - I would say it is a complete failure. Originally, I had hard water, and I thought that was probably the issue. I purchased a whole home Kinetico system, which remove almost all particulates from the water, and makes bottled-water-quality drinking water. (On a side-note, I would TOTALLY recommend the Kinetico system!) But even after having the water issues fixed, the dishwasher has NEVER worked properly. I have used every type of dishwasher detergent, including Cascade Complete & Platinum, Finish Ultra & Quantum Powerball... and I have also added rinse agents etc. Basically - whatever state your dishes are in when you put them IN the dishwasher, they will only be slightly improved when you remove them. Even if you SOAK the dishes first, they come out with all kinds of residue. It does an especially horrible job on glassware, but silverware is also terrible. And I have to re-wash by hand every coffee cup that comes out. I truly loathe this machine, and will replace as soon as I do enough research about a better brand & model.

We are on our second GE Profile Series 60ssf dishwasher. The first one began to leak all over the floor. The store replaced it with a new one. We have had our present one about ten months. The first several months it did great and we loved it. The last two months we have noticed the dishwasher not drying our dishes. We have talked with the store several times to make sure we are doing all the right things. We are using sanitary level, power dry, Rinse Aid. We have had two technicians out and according to their computer it does not detect anything wrong. Interesting. The temperatures of the water quoted by the two were 60 degrees different. So what else is different? We received a call from supposed management of customer services saying, since the technicians could not find anything wrong, that we will have to live with whatever is going on. They will do nothing more.BUYER BEWARE! The GE brand used to be good, but not anymore. At least not in dishwashers. I definitely would not recommend this dishwasher to anyone even though it is top of the line, supposedly the best in proficiency. The unit has failed miserably, and the company had failed us miserably. We are left with a pile of junk!

Wife called me at work to tell me our house is filled with smoke. Our GE dishwasher caught on fire 20 mins after she did a load of dinner dishes. Thanks to my 10- and 4-year-old kids who were in the living room playing, when they smelled smoke, they quickly ran and got the fire extinguisher and yelled to my wife. They ran out of the house and called the FD. Their quick thinking prevented it from getting worse. While on the phone, I had her go and turn off the circuit breaker. We moved in to our home in 2006 and it had a GE Monogram Microwave built in. The microwave died and I purchased a similar GE Monogram microwave to match our kitchen in 2014. That microwave died exactly 17 months later. Fortunately, we had a home warranty program as we are selling our home. I figured that this saved me the effort to complain to GE about their product... Wrong. The Home Warranty program sent a repairman who said we can order a part. A few days later I received a call that they would replace the microwave. OK... I checked online as well as with a local retailer to see which model is the replacement model, and trim kit. Today (about 10 days after I first called for service) they delivered the new GE Monogram microwave and installed it. Fortunately, I asked to test it and we tried to boil a cup of water. The contents in the oven being cooked were not visible. Either the light was too dim or the shading on the door was too dark. I have never seen a Microwave where you could not view what is inside. I called GE Customer Service while the installers were there and they refused to allow me to keep it until a replacement was delivered. They had to deinstall it, re-install my old (non working unit) and take the new one back. I called GE with my homeowners claim info and they sent me back to the Homeowner Warranty company to start the claim all over. Ridiculous.Instead of a replacement they offered me a cash value which was 60% of what I paid the retailers. When I asked why that amount? They only provide the value based on what the Warranty company gets the products/services for (wholesale cost). Net: If I used the money to buy another product it would cost me out-of-pocket for replacement. I am hoping the new unit to be delivered in the next 3 days works better. Otherwise, GE has a significant design flaw that doesnt allow you to view what is cooking in the Microwave. If thats the case, why have a window at all? Fyi - My Panasonic Microwave in our basement is working fine.... and has for years.

My GE Profile dishwasher is now 4 years old and Ive put up with it not cleaning well. For the last 3 years, I get a cloudy gray film over the dishes and finally figured out what is happening!! There is a gray rubber/plastic border around the bottom screen piece that has all the holes in it and covers most of the bottom of the dishwasher. I gently scraped with my finger and lo and behold its like gray putty!! So, the whole border of this gray rubber/plastic is disintegrating!! I had a 4 year warranty from Sears and they sent out a repairman. He is just going to order that whole screen part and replace it. He scraped the rubber and it came off for him too!! He said he never saw that before. He said it is probably the fault of my detergent which comes from health food stores and NOT the Cascade that they promote. Anyway, now I know where the gray film is coming from... Weve probably been consuming this for 4 years, a little at a time (NOT GOOD)!!! Im not thrilled with Cascade either!! Probably my LAST GE product to buy!!

My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS)
My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS) at 9 pm, 2/4/13. At 11 pm, he emptied and put away the dishes. At midnight, we went to bed. At 4:50 am on 2/5/13, we were awakened by a burning smell and discovered the heating element of the dishwasher either turned back on or never turned off. We were unable to touch the granite counter, the front of the dishwasher, and both wooden cabinets on either side of the dishwasher were very warm. The spinning arms and other plastic parts were melted. The only way it could be turned off was to unplug it from the outlet in the cabinet. We were leaving for the airport at 7:30 am on 2/5/13, so needless to say, we would have lost our home if this occurred a couple of hours later. The Assurant tech said it was repairable and ordered a part, which would take at least a week. Assurant customer service had us call GE. When we stated we didnt want the faulty dishwasher repaired, but wanted a new dishwasher, the best the GE customer service rep could offer us was 38-40% off several new different Profile dishwashers. After reading page after page of bad reviews, most of which detail either one or multiple fires from different GE dishwashers, we dont even want another GE dishwasher in our home. We already needed the smart soap dispenser replaced, since it clogs periodically and doesnt wash dishes very well. We also have a countertop GE Profile microwave, and the turntable motor has gone out 3 times so far. Weve purchased the replacement motors ourselves since it isnt under Assurant insurance. Not sure what the resolution will be on the dishwasher, but wed be happy if GE would give us at least $500 toward a different brand dishwasher. I know well never ever buy another GE appliance after this. We wouldnt sleep at night or ever want to go out of the house without unplugging another GE dishwasher, so dont want one.
