Weve owned a number of small KitchenAid appliances over the years that have worked perfectly and held up well. As a result, we bought a KitchenAid dishwasher a few years ago. What a mistake! I will never buy another KitchenAid appliance. This dishwasher has been nothing but trouble since we bought it. Half the time we have to switch off the breaker to get the electronics to work. Recently, the piece that holds the top tray in broke spilling glass all over our kitchen floor. Do yourself a favor and avoid KitchenAid large appliances!

My experience with KitchenAid was the worst ever. 3 months after I bought the dishwasher it broke down and I have been dealing with KitchenAid ever since and nothing has been done. You spend at least an hour to actually get someone on the phone and then they don’t help you. I had someone come to fix the dishwasher 3 months after I bought dishwasher and they blamed on the plumbing. I had 2 different plumber coming. They tell me nothing is wrong with the plumbing. I spent almost 1,000 on a dishwasher that I use for 3 months and KitchenAid don’t give a damn about fixing or replaced so now I’m taking a loss of a $1,000 and have to go buy another dishwasher. Our plan was to replaced all our appliances KitchenAid. Thank God we didn’t do it, because I really don’t ever want to deal with them again.

We paid a lot of money for this dishwasher. I had high expectations which were not met. Do not be fooled. A name does not mean a guaranteed quality product. The door malfunctioned after just a few months and now the dishwasher smells terrible as it doesnt clean like its supposed to. Why have a dishwasher if you have to scrub every dish before putting it in the dishwasher? Thats a waste of my valuable time. Research your purchase! Dont buy it for the name only. Youll be disappointed.

We bought one of the newest KitchenAid ovens on the market about 4 months ago. On Thanksgiving it broke while I was cooking the turkey with 20 hungry people waiting. Mine too said feature not available. After a service call they had to order a whole new panel which is on back order. Its been 3 weeks with no oven and I dont expect the part will be in for Christmas.

I have called KitchenAid twice and they just gave us an extended warranty. They dont care about us and will not stand by their product, and we still dont have a freezer. Ive been out a lot of times and not to mention the food that weve lost. Everyone knows food is not cheap. Please dont buy any KitchenAid product. Id buy an old GE first.

Bought the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher Model KUD301XSS9 in July 2013. 13 months
Bought the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher Model KUD301XSS9 in July 2013. 13 months later, like many of these other reviews, had to replace the plastic tabs on the top rack on both sides. Of course, they were on back order (apparently a lot of replacements of those parts on the top rack). I went ahead and ordered two sets for each side, anticipating this will happen in another 12 months or so. The plastic does not appear to be able to stand up to the high temperatures generated by this dishwasher. Had I known that Kitchen Aid was owned by Whirlpool, who also owns Maytag, which, in my opinion, is absolutely the WORST appliance manufacturer since the beginning of time, I would not have bought one. The old slogan from the 1980s about the Maytag Repairman being lonely would not be applicable today... Apparently neither would the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher repairman. Heading over to GE the next time, at least They Bring Good Things to Life, and one of those Good Things will be in the form of a better dishwasher to my home. Now this model is not all bad. The good thing about this model is the same thing that probably cause the problem to begin with... it does dry very good. What KA needs to understand is no consumer wants to be replacing ANY part after only 13 months of service. From reading the reviews, I am not totally convinced they are able to grasp that concept.

The issue I am currently having is trying to get a new control panel for our built in refrigerator. The day after Christmas the refrigerator went out. The following Monday I called a local appliance repair business so we could get the refrigerator fixed. They showed up the following day and informed us it was the main control panel that was out and this part was not available. They suggested we either were going to have to have the control panel rebuilt or if that did not work the only solution was to buy another refrigerator. I found that hard to believe so I called KitchenAid and eventually got to the Built-In Department. I was told the part was getting ready to be available and would be ready for distribution on 1-7-16. Was also told until now this part had not been available due to the manufacturer being destroyed in a storm and it had taken them several years to redesign a part that actually worked. I also found that hard to believe. However, I now thought all issues were taken care of and excepted the wait. Well, yesterday I decided to call checking on things only to find the part did not go out as stated and there was still (0) showing in their availability. The parts distribution company that our repair shop orders their product from had not even placed an order because there was still 0 showing available. After several phone calls and talking to several different people my frustrations only grew. It appears that even though the folks in the built in department could see the inventory was available nobody was able to order the part because the part is still not showing up as available in their system. Finally, the part was made available for me to order, shipping at my expense, to be shipped to my repair Co. I also then found out that I would then be responsible for shipping the core back and that I would have NO warranty on a $350.00 part. If the part was ordered through my repair Co I have a warranty and no shipping expense. They were not even willing to ship next day or 2nd day mail. For a part this expensive and with as many issues it appears there have been with it, I decided I needed the warranty so Im back at the mercy of KitchenAid and the wholesale part supplier to get the part to my repair Co. I found the policies at KitchenAid and the procedure they go through to be very non-flexible and not consumer friendly. In addition, we put all KitchenAid products with the exception of our gas stove in our house. We have already replaced the built in Ice maker and the microwave. This will be the last KitchenAid/whirlpool appliance we ever purchase.

11 months into the purchase of our KitchenAid French Door Bottom Freezer, water started leaking onto our NEW hardwood floor, from the bottom of the freezer. Because of how new this was and no VISIBLE problem, we assumed it was an ice cube that dropped out, or something from the filtered water spout on the fridge. At 12 months, we investigated further and noticed the ice build up on the bottom of the freezer. The water was coming from here. The warranty on this had expired, of course. But, who could imagine that a pricey refrigerator such as this would only last 1 year? We got this repaired at our expense thru a certified dealer, so any other warranty would still be valid.Well after keeping careful watch on the bottom of the freezer, and scraping ice when we could, we have the very same problem again, a little more than 1 year later. Thick ice now, and of course water coming from the bottom. It seems this problem is systemic to the design of this product. This is not satisfactory to the consumer!!!

We purchased a kitchenaid refrigerator, model KFCS22EVMS6 from Sears in 2012. We have had nothing but problems with the refrigerator section.... loud noise, freezing food and most recently not cooling. Temperature will not remain at the recommended setting of 38 degrees (changes automatically to 59 degrees and higher). We have had at least 4 service calls on this refrigerator. Just called tonight due to the non-cooling issue and cannot get an appointment until October 27th. The previous service technicians refuse to state our refrigerator should be replaced by Kitchenaid. This is our first and last kitchenaid refrigerator we will ever purchase.

Operationally this is a nice-looking, relatively quiet, efficient machine with multiple modes of operation. Where it falls from grace is the isolation of the top/hidden electronics from the moisture of a functioning dishwasher. The replacement by the owner is not out of the question, but most users wont do this. The main control board can be replaced by unplugging a socket after the front of the machine is removed. One other drawback is the spring and cord mechanism that balances the weight of the door, it can break more than once in a 20-year operating lifetime. On the good side this unit is still working after 20 years whereas many others are broken and replaced. The motor, pump and dish/silver racks are all working and in good condition. The inside and outside stainless is fully functional and easily cleaned.

The oven (model # KGRK806PSS01) was put in self clean mode. I came back to the kitchen later and found it had powered off; the oven glass was shattered and hot pieces were falling on the floor. After letting it cool down, I unplugged it. I later plugged it back in; still, it had no power and the self clean oven door latch will not unlock. Oven is completely useless now. The glass and parts alone to fix it are over $450 plus a service call & labor would put it closer to $600. I bought this at Sears about 5 years ago and they referred me to KitchenAid. KitchenAid finally offered to fix it for $370; however the glass is on back-order for 3 months. I see many similar complaints online and judging by the long back order on the glass, Im sure there are a lot of other people in my boat. I reluctantly ended up taking KitchenAids offer and I will not buy KitchenAid again.

We purchased our gas oven/stove two years ago and I am so worried that we are going to have a gas poisoning or explosion in our home. The knobs are very easily turned on. You can brush up against it and you wont even know until later on when you smell the horrible scent of gas. I was cleaning my stove earlier this morning and came back inside the house and I knew right away that the smell was gas and sure enough the knob was ever so lightly turned to the left and emitting gas fumes. Im not sure if there is a recall so this is my first step.

Kitchen Aid Fridge model KF1S29BBMS00 (French Door w/ lower drawer freezer)
Kitchen Aid Fridge model KF1S29BBMS00 (French Door w/ lower drawer freezer) - We bought our fridge in late June of 2013. Its now Early September and weve been without a properly functioning appliance for more than 2 weeks. Looking through the reviews, the prospect is daunting of waiting months to get this resolved.Same issue as many. After a call to Kitchen Aid, a technician came to evaluate the issue and determined that it was an evaporator fan malfunction. It took 5 days to get the new part. A new technician/refrigeration expert came to install the new (and faulty) fan (The freezer door, which was functioning fine up to this point, was somehow damaged by him so that now it makes a noise when I open it). He said to give the fan 24 hours to cool the machine. A day later it was no better than it was before, with the temperature hovering around 60 degrees. A new technician was sent out the next day. He determined, after taking the refrigerator apart that the new evaporator fan was faulty. He defrosted the evaporator with a heat gun and talked to Rick at the KitchenAid tech line (On an aside, the drawer display doesnt work at all, a whole different issue). Now were waiting a week to get a new fan and no guarantee that this fan will work. We are very frustrated.

KitchenAid Superba double oven dies every time we try to self-clean. I told my wife not to try it today. She did and it died after the cleaning cycle had been on for about an hour. Now we are looking forward to getting a Sears repairman out to our house, which is in the country, and will cost us at least a few hundred dollars, again. We are not really very happy with KitchenAid. We bought all KitchenAid when we built. What a mistake. I really thought KitchenAid was a good brand. This is a design flaw and not a routine maintenance item! They should stand by faulty products and send replacements free of charge! We bought a 29 cu. ft. French Door stainless refrigerator model KFIV29PCMS
We bought a 29 cu. ft. French Door stainless refrigerator model KFIV29PCMS in 2013. We had repairmen out three years in a row. Each time required several visits. The air tower, ice maker evaporator fan, two fresh food evaporators, valves, a compressor, and a UIn were all replaced. We were out of a refrigerator for 18 days one time and over a week this last time. On one visit they sent a repairman out only to say that he couldnt fix it as it is a closed system. Every time its something different. We have had frost on the top left shelves with water leaking into them, water coming out of the ice dispenser, ice building up on the freezer drawers, water on the floor, and it just quit working. Although we had insurance, it only paid $300 for spoiled food. We have lost more than that. It is always so inconvenient to schedule time for them to come, then reschedule when the part finally comes in. I have complained to Good Deals where we bought it. I dont think they should sell appliances with so many problems. I complained to KitchenAid but all they did was take my complaint. Needless to say I have complained to the repair place,Gulf Appliance. My old Sears refrigerator lasted 26 years without even a service call, and it was a fifth of the cost. I cant believe a company cannot do a better job making an appliance. Did they even test them before putting them on the market? Apparently not. I will never buy another KA fridge again. Our microwave, stove, and oven are all ok but I wonder if they too will go out soon.

Recently, I attempted to use the self clean function. Following the prompts, the door locked. When I pushed the start button, there was a bright flash from the control panel. It fried. Purchased four KitchenAid appliances three years ago for a complete kitchen remodel. Very disappointed. The exhaust fan on the microwave is extremely noisy. The handles on my fridge are always needing to be retightened. Happily the dishwasher is perfect. But my biggest complaint, if you slightly bump the knobs on the gas range (KSGB900ESS0) it lets out gas. You wont even know this until you start smelling it. So even cleaning it you have to be very aware to look at the knobs and make sure they are in the off position. This is a major safety issue. If I cant find a recall, Ill probably just throw it away and buy another brand. I bought all KitchenAid from its reputation/reviews but would not recommend to anyone...

The tech who came out said he would not buy one, he sees this all the time.

In a nutshell, the same part on my fridge (the thermistor assembly) has broken down 5 times since I bought it (roughly every three months) causing the fridge to simultaneously ice over yet not keep the food cold. I have a warranty on it, and per CAs Lemon Law, they should have replaced the fridge by now. But every time I call, they keep coming up with reasons why that it doesnt qualify for a Lemon replacement. (This latest time was that the latest repair had the same claim number because it was technically within 90 days of the last time a technician came out. By this logic, they could give me the same claim number till the end of time and never replace the fridge).I can afford a new fridge, but at this point its a matter of principle. I have wasted thousands of dollars in food, not to mention days of my life dealing with this issue -- and have become convinced (based on my research of other consumer complaints) that this is an issue KitchenAid is aware of and that they have knowingly foisted a faulty product & loophole-ridden warranty onto their consumers and EXPECT us to give up when they give us the run-around. I have researched lawsuits against KitchenAid and their warranty company and have been contacted by lawyers who are interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit. If you are interested in getting more information/participating in a class action lawsuit against KitchenAid, please email me.

We just built a house and bought all new shiny appliances, including a KitchenAid refrigerator side-by-side, counter deep, very expensive. On DAY 1, the freezer temp was raising, we kept lowering it back to 0 F. On DAY 2, it doesnt go below 16. Now day 5 and its 32, and doesnt respond to pushing temp control down. Technician may come tomorrow. Meanwhile, food will start spoiling. Also, no instructions came with it, except how to install. Gee, thanks! NOT BUY THIS!

Horrible French door fridge model KBFS20EVMS. We have had many problems since we bought this less than six years ago. The refrigerator portion is set on 44 and still freezes the food. The icemaker stopped working. The fridge leaks. Ive had that cosmetic rust issue on the exterior. The seals are shot and I cleaned mold/mildew from the rubber seals. Avoid KitchenAid products.

I have had to replace my top light in my refrigerator twice already. Well today I opened the refrigerator to clean and once again smelled a burning plastic smell. Yep, looked up and the lights had fallen again and was melting the plastic that covers the top light. This is a huge fire risk. Thank God I have caught it all three times now before it starts a fire. KitchenAid will be getting a call from me first thing in the morning. My parents always purchased KitchenAid products and I have up until this point. Guess its time to find a new family brand that will be safe to have in our home. I would not recommend a KitchenAid refrigerator to anyone at this present moment.

Bought a new KitchenAid microwave. Had a company technician install it. Everything worked fine. 3 days later it would not heat properly. Called company, technician called told us to do several things. Which we did. Still would not heat properly. Most of our appliances are KitchenAid, and they are great. We have replaced this microwave with another brand. Will never buy another KitchenAid appliance. Real Shame only had the KitchenAid microwave 1 month and the company when contacted offered no replacement.

The door panel and control panel get too hot to touch. I had to wear my oven mitt to change the functions on the control panel. This KitchenAid oven (KSGG700ESS) is a safety hazard for anyone with children or others as the exterior becomes so hot, it is untouchable. I had the same oven delivered as a replacement, and had the exact same issue. Plus, KitchenAid is in denial, and takes multiple departments and calls to try to argue with them, this after a service tech came out, confirmed it was extremely hot, but wouldnt write the word defect. Did I mention that KitchenAid (KRSC503ESS) also delivered a new refrigerator that was a lemon with a freezer that did not get cold?

A month ago I was cleaning the appliance when I saw rust under the stainless coating on the refrigerator. Stove and dishwasher are okay. I called the service, they came to see. We purchased a KitchenAid 48 KSSC48QT side-by-side (for custom wood panel inserts) from Factory Builder Store along with a double oven, microwave, dishwasher, all KitchenAid. The ice maker on the refrigerator has been a joke from the beginning. The ice dispenser does not work, we have to open the freezer door in order to scoop ice out of the bin on the door. When we open the freezer door, ice always falls all over the place and the flap on the ice maker is covered with an ice sheet from some type of leakage. After reading everyones comments, I have come to the conclusion that KitchenAid will soon be a past American icon and I will need to just take it as a loss. What a shame. My kitchen is the heart of my home and was featured in our local newspaper and in MySanAntonio website. We entertain almost every weekend and I make sure all my guests and neighbors know that I dont have any ice from the freezer in my kitchen because KitchenAid makes a lousy product. Guests have naturally gone to the freezer door during a party to dispense ice and I just comment Oh sorry, it’s a KitchenAid. Don’t ever buy one! Please get the ice from my old freezer in the garage! (which for 10 years has worked perfectly). Some of these folks are CEOs, contractors and custom home builders so I make sure the word gets out. I guess I will just keep a supply of bagged ice till the whole ** thing gives out on us, which I expect will happen soon based on everyones feedback!

I purchased a second Kitchenaid microwave KMCS1016GSSo after my first one lasted about 11 years. My custom cabinets were built to fit this microwave and trim kit. I purchased the extended warranty coverage although this model received poor ratings. But it fit perfectly into my cabinets. I specifically asked 2 years ago when purchasing the second unit if anything goes out on microwave would I receive a replacement. I was told “yes, we’ll replace the microwave since we don’t repair countertop models.”About 2 weeks ago the lcd display digits started to burn out. I checked online and found this same model is still being produced. I called Whirlpool who’s the parent company to discuss my options since I had 2 more years on extended warranty. After escalation to 3 levels of supervisors I was told they would only send me the depreciated amount of the microwave. The terms state replace or give cash settlement. But I was told at this time they are not replacing the microwaves. This is very upsetting and breach of what I was told when I purchased the extended warranty because this model fits my cabinet and trim kit.

Just replaced all appliances in our kitchen with KitchenAid. Very pleased with all but the double oven (Kitchenaid KEBS209BSS double convection). This unit is very well designed and nice to look at. It is also a very noisy appliance. There is always a fan running when in use. I understand the reason for the fans coming on but they are very loud and change sound pitch with temperature. If you are looking to buy one of these new ovens have your store operate it for you and see if you can tolerate the sound.

Purchased from Lowe’s 9/21/18 and bought 5 year extended warranty through Lowe’s. Kitchen Aid did not supply refrigerator to Lowe’s until 11/15/18 (they said they weren’t ready to manufacture that model until then). I noticed first of August 2019 (8 months after delivery) that the long deli drawer (under the crispers) was not shutting completely on the left side. It stuck out like something stuck behind it. Upon checking, I found a block of ice (maybe 15” long by 5” high) behind the left half of that drawer. It was still under Manufacture warranty and they sent repairman from local appliance repair in 8/6/18.They returned 8/23/19 to repair. I had to empty the refrigerator and freezer 24 hours before and turn it off to allow the ice to melt I was informed. I did this. A pain is in the neck of course to relocate everything. The repair was made. 6 months later, I notice the same issue with left end of drawer not shutting. Sure enough, the same block of ice had returned. Called Lowe’s and they had no record of first incidence because that was MANUFACTURE WARRANTY incidence. Was rudely told this would be the FIRST incidence of such issue now that under Lowe’s extended warranty.I am set for yet another Appliance repair store to be here 2/13/20. So I’m sure they will also tell me to empty it before they return for repair! And my fear is this will be a temporary fix just like last time. I’ll be reporting it again in another 6-9 months and eventually my warranty will expire and I’ll be out the money because I have a LEMON!!! I think Kitchen Aid should replace it. I also would like to know if this issue has occurred often with this model. Maybe I don’t have a lemon, but the whole model manufactured at that time (between Sept 2018-November 2018) are faulty???

Repairman usually cant come for 10 days and then sometimes a part must be ordered and another visit made. In between time, we have no dishwasher. This is fraudulent and for customer a whole year of misery. The dishwasher model is first in the series. Obviously a lemon and should simply be replaced quickly with a different model. We just completed installing a new kitchen, with all new appliances, cabinets, wiring, etc. as of December 2011. On February 4, 2012 while cooking a single potato, we looked at the KitchenAid microwave (Model KHMS2040WBL-1 Serial #TR 1 25 10840) only to discover that it was filled with flames. We pushed the stop button and the flames went out. The instructions screen continued to flash sensing, sensing until I unplugged the device from the outlet. Upon cleaning the microwave oven, we found that the potato was reduced to a small pile of glowing black carbon, the glass turntable was blackened and cracked, the plastic spindle upon which the turntable sits was about 50% burned away, and the paint under where the potato had been sitting was burned down to the raw metal.Reading the instruction booklet, I found that the device is supposed to sense when the food being cooked is giving off steam, and then shut itself off when no further steam is sensed. Obviously, this function failed.I called the KitchenAid customer service line (1800-422-1230) only to be transferred to the Safety Department at Whirlpool, the corporate owners of KitchenAid. After explaining my experience, the representative Timika ** offered to send a repair service to my house. A repair person from A&E came, agreed that there had been a fire and told us not to use the appliance again, because of consumer neglect. What the neglect is a mystery to me. In summary, Whirlpool has refused to cover the damage to the appliance even though it was manufactured in June 2011 and was still under the original warranty. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency and the New York State Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Fraud.I am completely dissatisfied and angry with the Whirlpool response. They seem to want to avoid responsibility for (and resulting recall) a failure of the electronics board in this appliance. I have found the website ** which describes a class action suit over fires in KitchenAid dishwashers, also apparently due to failures in the electronics panel of those appliances.

We purchased a Kitchenaid model KUDS301XBL4 dishwasher about 2 years ago. It appears that the plastic inside the tub is deteriorating and the pegs that hold the rollers for the top rack have broken. I have found this is a common complaint among Kitchenaid dishwasher owners. The parts cost for the repair is about $28 per side plus shipping costs. I did send an e-mail to Kitchenaid explaining the problem and asking them what their solution is regarding the defective parts. No reply at this time. I dont expect them to acknowledge defects or offer a solution based on other complaints I have read . So, I took to finding a solution myself.I examined the mechanism and figured out how it works and had an idea that if I could find the right nylon and stainless steel parts at my hardware store, I could re-install the rollers on a different spot on the sides of the rack. I found all the parts for the four rollers for a total of $7.89 and proceeded with installing them. I had to use a Dremel tool to cut the broken roller pegs off and sand a small plastic ridge flat. I drilled holes and assembled my parts and attached them successfully to each side of the rack (see picture). For each roller, I used a stainless steel screw, washer and lock nut along with a nylon finish washer and a nylon bushing. It works great! It is too bad that Kitchenaid wont stand behind their product, as evident in other, similar complaints. I am not an engineer, but I engineered a solution in one-hour that will last longer than the rest of the original plastic parts in the tub.

We bought a KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUDL03IVWH0 in December 2008. It has leaked since the first time we ran it. We were both commuting long distances to work, trying to get moved in after putting our stuff in storage to have all the floors redone, have otherwise busy lives, and agreed my husband would fix it or call to get it fixed. To make a long story short, we put a cup under and forgot about it until after the warranty ran out. The extended warranty is $309.95 for a year, which did not seem worth it since it was a manufacturers defect - we did not want to give them any more money. The last time I talked to a service manager, she refused to pay for the labor, so I called her back three times and told her to mail us the part since it was free and she never called us back. Finally they sent the part. One time they paid for the guy to come and tell us what was wrong but wouldnt pay for him to come back and put the warranty item in!? Our oven latch constantly gets stuck and I have to keep hitting self clean on and off until the stupid thing can unlock itself. Now the latch keeps the door from closing all the way and then the oven will not heat up properly. The one customer service girl asked me if we unplugged the oven and I said no then she proceeded to tell me I had to pay $150 for the service guy to come and look at it. When I asked her why she wanted to know if I had unplugged the oven, she told me, “Well, that resets the computer”. Why wouldnt you tell me to try that first?! Because that worked! Wish I had never purchased KitchenAid appliance. Beware. We have a double confection oven, induction cook top, dishwasher, microwave and fridge...all of them are junk. Oven door was broken right out of the box. Took about 1 month to get a new one and it doesnt work like they advertise that is for SURE. Dishwasher blew the hoses, ruined my kitchen floor and ceiling in the basement. Service man came and said oh yes we know that is a faulty clamp, fixed it and put a huge scrape in my hardwood floor. Fridge blew the hose to the ice maker, again my hardwood floor and ceiling in the basement service guy came out. Oh yes we have a fix for that...it is a faulty piece. Microwave just stopped working, service guy had no idea and wanted us to uninstall it so he could take it with him (it is an over the range hood microwave and weighs about 200 lbs) but he managed to get it working.Induction cook top blew up, smoke and all 1 year to the day of installation (but it wasnt covered because the appliances got delivered before they were installed) had to have a huge argument with customer service that the warranty was 2 years on major components. They said it was not a major component even though the cost of the new board was $800.00. They finally agreed to cover it. Was without a stove for several weeks. Then the dishwasher went again. My hardwood and basement ceiling all water damaged again. This time the water blew the board in the dishwasher. Over 1 month to get the parts just got it fixed 2 weeks ago. Then last week the Microwave stopped working again...still waiting for service. This was my dream kitchen that has turned into a nightmare. Every time I need service I need to take a day off work. I have replaced my ceiling tiles 3 times in the basement, my kitchen floor is warped and gouged and you know what they told me? That is not our problem take it up with your house insurance!

KitchenAid range KDRU783 - This stove has been a nightmare. First, the right-hand front burner was burning with an irregular, bright yellow flame. Called repair; their assessment Lady, you just need to use a bigger pot. (Pardon me, Im a chemist by training, I know incomplete combustion when I see it.) Called again, no better luck; spent several years putting up with carbon deposits on my pots. Finally, the burner became unusable; it literally burst into flame and sent up black smoke. This time I called the repair from the store where I bought it -- a well-known chain -- and they sent a technician who spent time investigating. Found the problem -- a connection to the propane line had come loose. Then, an additional problem occurred: the touch panel would start clicking when we used the left-hand front burners. It would flash on and off at 350 degrees, or 500 degrees, or some other setting but would NOT turn off. At worse, the entire stove -- both ovens -- would become inoperable. This second problem resulted in 3 trips by the repair people, who replaced the unit twice and then a third time with no change. However, the 3rd set of technicians think they have figured out whats going wrong -- and I have an appointment the day before Christmas, thank you very much. Right after they left, a third problem occurred: the left hand back burner next to the griddle keeps sending sparks; we have checked that one of the covers on the burners might be off center, but thats not the case. The result is that the only way we can stop the sparking is to keep the burner turned on low (so that we can use the other burners and the ovens) or to turn off the circuit breaker. I would like to hear from other people who have this range and find out whether this might be a common defect.

I called KitchenAid last week to follow up on my replacement part and I still have no answer from them. Very poor service for a very expensive product.

I had an upscale kitchen remodel done and spent probably $75,000 on appliances. I purchased two KitchenAid fridges and microwaves and an under counter ice maker. To date the microwave has almost no power. I have a $35 microwave from Walmart that heats food three times as fast as my KitchenAid. I had service out in the first month because the microwave sounded like a jet engine. They replaced a fan in there and then I had it out again because it just wasn’t powerful enough and they said there was nothing they could do. The cost of the microwave was $2500. One of the fridges randomly will just make this worrying waze. Who knows why. I don’t even want to call service man for that. And the ice maker has given us problems from the first six months. And now the ice maker has died. I would periodically have to unplug it and leave it for a day and plug it in and it would work but now nothing. I think that thing cost $2700. We did not buy these appliances at Lowe’s but at an upscale appliance store where they guaranteed me that it is a better quality than if you purchased a KitchenAid on the floor of a big box store. I would never purchase a KitchenAid appliances again. I also have Wolf Appliance as a double wall oven and a large commercial stove. The double oven timer you can’t hear it and less you have your ear up against it. I had a service man out and he said there’s nothing you can do about that. The commercial stove one of the front electrical ignition switches doesn’t work that up and cost 50,000. It is insanity that these companies are in business. So poor quality and they don’t seem to care. I don’t even know if it’s worth it to have a service man come out and check my ice maker.

KitchenAid® 25 Cu. Ft. Standard-Depth French Door Refrigerator - After about 6 months, the fan went out for the refrigerator, $250 Part cost. After about a year, the baskets in the freezer compartment are rusting and bleeding through the plastic coating. After about a year and a half, the bar between the two doors is worn out and will not properly close. You have to open the right door and slam close the left door to make sure it properly closes. Thank god for the temperature alarm. Do not buy this product!!!

KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS35FXSS that retails for over $1000 was installed. One month later, the vent on the side of the door blew steam on my new Cherry cabinets damaging the finish. Talking to KitchenAid is useless. They made me purchase a $6.00 part (and pay $15 in shipping) to divert the steam from the vent. Dont they have engineers who could have figured out that you should blow hot steam on wood cabinets?

On February 5, 2014, had all of my appliances delivered, and the Refrigerator French door 29 cu ft, never was good from day one. On the day of when it was delivered, the delivery guy, called someone to tell them about the light being white and not blue light on the outside water dispenser. They told me that I should call service about that. Then few days later was getting moisture build up in the whole left side of the refrigerator, where had to wipe it with a towel many times. My old appliances were trouble free, only wanted stainless steel, and matching to my new kitchen appliances I bought from KitchenAid refrigerator, and Whirlpool dishwasher, microwave and stove which are all from the same manufacturer. Blue light is all other appliances, had the service man and told me that tell cant do anything about this. Besides the other problem whereas moisture in whole left side of the French door, ice gets watery where it throw out the ice cubes all stick together, water and ice dispenser on the door does not work too... This is brand new refrigerator and not what I ordered? Told the salesman at HHGREGG that wanted to match all of my appliances..

I purchased a refrigerator ($2,500) that continues to break down, and all they do is send a third-party to (temporarily) repair but it keeps happening again and again. I should have had a replacement by now but they keep stating that the problem is not the same, yet the symptoms are...my freezer keeps breaking and food spoiling. This has happened 4 times already and no one takes ownership. I tried going on live chat to get assistance, asking to escalate to a higher level representative and the chat ended. My wife was speaking with Assurant, the service contract company and they said We dont make the KitchenAid products. NO ONE will take ownership or stand behind the product.

We remodeled our kitchen in February-March 2011. All new, top of the line KitchenAid Appliances $10K worth. After about 4.5 months, the dishwasher started failing, it wont complete a cycle. Five warranty service visits later, still not working. I have replaced all the electronics at least once. Im now in the process of replacing the control panel for the second time, all under warranty. The cost of all the replacement parts and service could have paid for 3 dishwashers at the price we paid of $1200.00. So at what point does this scenario become cost effective for both the customer and manufacturer? When do I get a dishwasher that works? Our previous dishwasher was a KitchenAid and it worked fine. The factory warranty process is a joke. Ill never buy KitchenAid again.

Purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator to replace my ten year old Kenmore. Model is KRFF300ESS. After a few months...noticed spots of rust on the stainless steel. Called KitchenAid...and they replaced the doors. After ten days of having the new doors installed, I can see rust forming on the steel again! I never even touched them with any sort of cleaner at all! Their customer service experience has been the worst. They keep promising theyll resolve the issue but never follow through. At this point theyre blaming me. Very disappointed in the construction of the product and their customer service. Ive owned multiple competing brands of appliances and other stainless steel products in my kitchen and have never experienced this. I cant in good conscience recommend KitchenAid refrigerators.

We bought our KitchenAid Built-In Refrigerator in 2008 for approx $7,500. We have had several issues with the Ice Maker. However, this week, the Main Controller Board went out and had to be repaired. The authorized repair company told us that the Board had been discontinued by KitchenAid and they would work to get the board repaired. I called KitchenAid and eventually got through to someone that explained that the company that produced this board is located in Japan and was hit by the Tsunami and can no longer provide the board. Also, we are out of warranty and this is now our problem. My issue is that I had expectations that this high-end expensive refrigerator would last more than 6 years. A built in refrigerator should be repaired not replaced. I find it unacceptable that KitchenAid wouldnt have a Dual Source for this key component to the refrigerator. Bottom Line - Very Disappointed in KitchenAid!

Kitchenaid offers no assistance in this matter. The stove cost us $2500. Dispenser door for powdered soap does not open so soap is dispensed through open door. Part very expensive to replace. Last week heard loud noise like explosion. Door blew open while dishwasher was running. In our fairly advanced years, my wife and I Splurged on a KitchenAid Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Gas stove, Warming drawer and a lot of other matching KitchenAid appliances and tools to complement our new kitchen. While a bit above our financial means, we purchased these based on KitchenAids reportedly High End quality and reputation with the expectation they would very likely outlast us. The stove, while being a self cleaning model, quickly experienced a failed control panel and we were summarily told that we cleaned our oven too often and the ovens heat fried the high tech front panel electronics. It’s fairly common. ARE THEY KIDDING? OVENS ACTUALLY PRODUCE HEAT? Whod O Thought! Then, our Top of the line Dishwasher went to scrap metal Heaven due to its being used too much... Water steam vapor damaged the doors inside control panel. Hmmm... As we have always done, we do our dishes every day as we strangely appreciate cleanliness and a healthy environment in our home which is evidently contrary to KitchenAid’s philosophy of product serviceability and durability standards. I think I get the part where an appliance would necessarily last longer if its not used, thats pretty simple even for me. What I just can’t seem to grasp though is how KitchenAid obtained its reputation for high end quality (as in durability) if their products require virtual non use to maintain any semblance of usability. Are They Kidding? Seriously? And as for the very expensive KitchenAid refrigerator we ordered direct from the factory? It was missing a plastic grill like air disperser part that subsequently caused a complete failure of the entire refrigerator and freezer shortly after the warranty expired. WooHooo... Im so happy, I wish I could say what I really think about KitchenAid and their products but the NSA would lock me up forever. KitchenAid obviously has their piece of the Corporate American Pie. Unfortunately, by most of the comments Ive read, it seems that consumer dissatisfaction will continue to be an ongoing experience for and at the expense of a growing number of very angry KitchenAid customers. Until that is, enough consumers educate themselves en-mass and RE-RATE KitchenAid products to accurately reflect the extremely poor quality and reputation they deserve. Seriously KitchenAid. ARE YOU KIDDING?

We purchased the above-captioned refrigerator in February 2013. For many month after the purchase, we dealt with a bottom freezer door that would freeze shut and could not be opened without using tools. After four different repairs, the door was finally fixed. Just this month the freezer and ice-maker completely failed. Initially we were told it was a control board. Luckily, we had a second opinion (which we paid for) to find out what was really wrong. Both evaporators have to be replaced. The freezer has been out for two weeks and will not be fixed until the end of this week. The refrigerator is defective and should be replaced.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (KUDP02FSPA3) for my new home. We moved in December of 2007 and by December of 2011 the door to the dishwasher broke. It would no longer spring close. Because this model has the customizable front door to match the cabinets, the door is extremely heavy - heavy enough to kill a small child when the door broke. We immediately removed the cabinet part so that my 12-month-old baby girl would not be harmed or killed by this defect. I called last week to have someone come out and fix my dishwasher door and the cost was $164. Now that I am doing the research online, I see this is a common problem with this dishwasher model. Why does KitchenAid continue to sell a product that has a defect which could kill a small child? Why did we have to pay $164 to fix this common problem? Is KitchenAid waiting for the defect to actually kill a small child before coming up with a permanent solution to the problem?

I placed a review on this site regarding a catastrophic failure of a door seal on our very expensive fridge 3 years to the date after purchase. After numerous conversations with the Canadian warranty department and being told the part was not warrantied after one year I ordered a door seal from another provider and replaced the seal. I then wrote the review.Much to my surprise on Dec 4 The manager of Canadian Operations for Customer Relations Whirlpool contacted me to advise us they were prepared to send a service technician out to replace the seal at no cost to us. I advised the Manager that I had already replaced the seal and what the cost was. The Manager advised me to send him a copy of my receipt and that Whirlpool would reimburse me for any out of pocket costs for the seal replacement. This was a very pleasant surprise indeed and has replaced my faith in the KitchenAid product as they DO stand behind their product. There may be a takeaway here for Whirlpool to make it easier for Canadian clients to escalate a problem. A customer relations email address, phone number?

The top rack will not slide out and weve found metal ball bearings in the dishwasher that we assume are from the side rails. So frustrating... This is standard use and it is crap. When I called to get it repaired I was told that this type of repair is not covered by the extended warranty and the estimate was 2/3rds. The cost of the dishwasher. I was talking to my mom and she told me Son they will take care of it... They didnt and I told her It is not the brand it used to be. The top rack finally completely broke and now we have a bottom rack only. We are so over it and so sad.

After purchasing and installing a new Kitchenaid Architect Series II convection wall oven (KEBS109SS), the noise from the convection fan was overwhelming. I removed the oven from the wall and opened the rear panel when I noticed that the fan motor was loose. Further investigation helped me determine that the mounting screws were accessible from the inside of the oven by removing the panel covering the fan. I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDC20CVSS4 in September 2010 to match all my other KitchenAid SS appliances. It will not totally rinse off top rack dishes and glasses of food residue, and as a result, food particles harden on them so bad that I must soak them in the sink to get them cleaned. I had repairmen out periodically since November 2010 to fix the problem. I have been told to run hot water before starting dishwasher, scrape/rinse dishes thoroughly before washing, switch to liquid Cascade from powder or tablets because H20 doesnt get hot enough to dissolve it, and to run dishwasher with 1/2 to 1 cup white vinegar on occasion. Nothing has worked. The bottom line is that we bought an $800.00 lemon with no recourse. Oh yeah, I was also told that new dishwashers are all made the same since the government enforced new Energy Use standards. I think its baloney being sold to me in order not to buy a new dishwasher (which we are considering). KitchenAid knows about the problems with this unit since it is now discontinued and replaced! I purchased a KitchenAid side-by-side Refrigerator #KSCS25INSS00 for almost $3000.00 from Sears in 2004 with 5-year service contract. In 2009, I called KitchenAid Repair because of cracks in cavity liner since it was under factory warranty. Serviced by A&E Factory Service, who strongly let it be known that the service charge must be paid regardless to analysis, Serviceman Raymond #** said the repair to the cracks in my refrigerator were cosmetic and would not affect the cooling of the unit. Service was under warranty but the repairman advised against cosmetic repair because it would show as a patched-over look, will not look good and again, would not make a difference in the cooling. I found out this was not so. I began to notice over time that milk, juices, and other foods seemed to be slowly spoiling more than usual. In July 2011, refrigerator was not cooling. I called Sears for service and was put under extreme pressure to purchase smart agreement prior to appointment or pay service charge prior to serviceman sent to my home. I took smart agreement, serviceman #** arrived with computer and wand type device and said that he really didnt know what the problem was but it was probably maybe a leak and seemed to be a sealed system internal problem. He steadily called in to confer with others and after about 2.5 hours, he said he would try to find the leak and the decision about the unit would be up to Kitchenaid. I advised that I had a Kitchenaid warrant on the seal system problem. He advised to give the refrigerated part 12 hours (freezer 24 hours) to adjust and call Sears of any problems and then left. The unit seemed to operate for a day. Ice formed in the freezer but melted down the front of unit. I called Sears immediately that day and could not get an appointment until the next week! Serviceman #** came and was in my home no more than 5 minutes and placed a sticker deemed unit not economical to repair/scrap and said Sears would offer a $500 discount on another unit! I complained that it was not economical for Sears to repair but it was economical for me to spend more money! I reminded him that Kitchenaid warranted that problem and was advised to call them. I called Kitchenaid and was on phone for more that 2.5 hours getting the runaround especially with Customer Experience Team. I spoke with several people about them honoring the warranty on the sealed system repair and was told they would send a serviceman out to check out the unit. Serviceman from A&E turned out to be the same first serviceman from Sears and he refused to return although he was representing Kitchenaid. He said he was not allowed to call Kitchenaid and that I would have to do that myself. I was back on the phone with Kitchenaid Customer Experience for another 3 hours and was being preached by Tammy or Pammy about Tech Teams from Sears and Kitchenaid not reporting my problem. But she said Kitchenaid would stand by their warranty. She finally said she would have a Kitchenaid supervisor contact me and I gave her the best number to contact me which was not followed. The supervisor Denna called a few days later and left a message on my home number, not the preferred number that I have given. Dennas message was that she didnt know what Kitchenaid could do for me and advised that it would be best to take Sears $500 offer but I could call her to discuss it. I left several messages and she never answered or returned my calls to her **. One last attempt with Kitchenaid Customer Experience, I spoke with an assistant Joetta, at the same number, but another extension **. After a lengthy conversation, reminding her that I had a Kitchenaid warranty on this repair, she seemed to agreed to help with the problem and said she would send a team that could help with the situation. She took all the necessary information and promised to get back to me. That was two weeks ago. Nothing. It is apparent that Kitchenaid does not stand by their warranties and do not care about the customers.

I am deeply dissatisfied with KitchenAids customer service, in particular with their Whirlpool Factory Certified Care. In June of 2011, I called KitchenAid customer service about a broken spring for my microwave oven door. They recommended a local certified KichenAid appliance repair shop. I spent $411.67 on replacing one broken spring. Just eight months later in 4/2012, the spring broke again and cracked the glass on the door in the process. This time, the KitchenAid customer care recommended their new company, Factory Certified Care. I was unhappy about the spring breaking again so soon from the previous repair. And I was guaranteed that their own KitchenAid technicians, who only deal with KitchenAid products, provide a stellar repair service. However, the repair took two long days, and the technicians used graphs, sketches to figure out how parts go together, without seeming to be the experts they promised to be. Nevertheless, after the replacement of many parts, I paid another $463.63. Only 53 days later, two screws came falling out, unhinging the door. What kind of poorly made parts, workmanship and quality of service renders screws falling out some short weeks after a service call? I called their customer service immediately relating this problem and found their representatives completely frustrating and unhelpful. I asked to speak to the supervisor twice, and they were equally unpleasant. They knew only to recite their 30-day labor guarantee policy. Even if the part (screws/ brackets that was replaced) was under warranty, I am looking at spending at least another $100 just to have someone put back two screws. Furthermore, given my experience, what faith do I have that the screws they put back or other parts that they replaced/assembled recently wont be falling apart again just outside of the 30 days, rendering me to pay another sum for service call? I asked the supervisor why anyone in my situation would ever use their service again or purchase their products. They did not seem to care one way or another. There is absolutely no business that will thrive or sustain without reliability and a positive reputation. I spent two frustrating hours speaking with their customer service representatives to find myself at a dead end. I wrote to their customer service department to share this excruciating experience and never received a reply.

I bought KitchenAid built-in microwave oven, model KCMS185JBL, and started to use it in June 2004. For the last year, the turn-table would sometimes stop and hesitate then turn again. Today (6/23/2012), the microwave would run with a rough and loud sound but it does not heat the food. For the price I paid, it should not have gone bad after 8 years. I have had a GE counter top microwave since 1996 (cost $299) and still running with no problem.
