CODE: PO
PROBLEM: Power Outage: The Power Outage indicator lets you know if the power supply to the refrigerator has been off and the freezer temperature has risen to 18 Fahrenheit or higher. The control panel temperature display will read "PO," and an alert tone will sound three times. "Confirm" will blink until you acknowledge the power outage by pressing MEASURED FILL under "Confirm." Once the power outage has been confirmed, the "PO" will disappear, and the display will return to the Home screen.

CODE: FLASHING "F"
PROBLEM: If the letter "F" is flashing on the display the refrigerator, try resetting the refrigerator as instructed below. 
FIX:
- Power unit down by turning off the circuit breaker(s) or unplugging the product for one minute.
- Power unit up by turning on the circuit breaker(s) or plugging the product back in.
- Ensure the cooling function is turned on.
- Monitor the refrigerator for one minute to ensure the error code does not display again.

CODE: Air Filter Indicator Light
PROBLEM: After replacing the air filter the air filter status will need to be reset. Directions for resetting the status will vary by model number, we recommend referencing the Owner's Manual for specific models instructions.
FIX:
TO RESET THE AIR FILTER:
Press and hold the AIR FILTER button for three seconds.
The filter icons will turn off. When the system is reset, the air filter icon will return to its BLUE color and the words "Replace Filter" will disappear from the control panel.

AIR FILTER STATUS LIGHTS
The below are the different stages you will see on the air filter display
GOOD - The air filter icon on the control panel lights up in BLUE.
ORDER a replacement - The air filter icon on the control panel lights up in YELLOW.
REPLACE air filter - The air filter icon on the control panel lights up in RED and "Replace Filter" will appear.
EXPIRED - The air filter icon lights up in RED and "Replace Filter" flashes on the control panel.
NOTE: At any filter status, pressing and holding the AIR FILTER button for 3 seconds will reset the air filter status to Good and the air filter icon will turn off.

PROBLEM:
DOES THE WATER FILTER NEED TO BE REPLACED?
The filter status light will help you know when to change your water filter. It is recommended that you replace the filter when the status light changes to red or water flow to your water dispenser or ice s noticeably. The water should be replaced at least 6 months depending on your water quality and usage.
FIX:
HOW TO RESET YOUR FILTER STATUS?
Resetting the Filter Status After changing the filter:
- Pressing and hold LIGHT and ICE TYPE button for three seconds.
- The status light will turn off when the system is reset.

CODE: Door Alarm
PROBLEM:
WAS THE DOOR LEFT OPEN?
The Door Ajar Alarm feature sounds an alarm when the refrigerator door(s) or freezer drawer is left open for 2-5 minutes, depending on the model, and cooling is turned on. The alarm will repeat every 2 minutes. Close all doors to turn off and reset the alarm.
FIX:
ARE THE DOORS COMPLETELY CLOSED?
Ensure the doors are closing correctly.  If the doors are not making contact with the door switch the door ajar symbol will appear on the display.  Check to make sure bins, shelves or food packages are not preventing the door(s) from closing correctly.
IS THE REFRIGERATOR LEVEL?
Check to make sure the refrigerator is leveled front to back and side to side to ensure the door switch is making proper contact. Check to make sure the floor under the refrigerator is also level. If the floor is not level shims may need to be used.

CODE: Cooling Off Indicator Light
PROBLEM: Your refrigerator and freezer will not cool when cooling is turned off. When cooling is off, "COOLING OFF" will appear on the display screen.  To turn the cooling function back on will vary by model and refrigerator type, below is a common method, but please see your Owner's Manual for specific information on your model.
FIX:
To turn cooling off:
- Press and hold the LOCK and MEASURED FILL buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. IMPORTANT: To avoid unintentionally locking the dispenser or changing other settings, be sure to press both buttons at exactly the same time. When cooling is off, "COOLING OFF" will appear on the display screen.
- Press and hold LOCK and MEASURED FILL for 3 seconds again to turn cooling back on.

IS THE COOLING FUNCTION TURNED ON?
If the Refrigerator is not cooling properly, check to make sure the Refrigerator is turned on. Some Refrigerators need to be manually turned back on after a power outage or power surge. The Refrigerator could also accidentally be turned off during routine cleaning.

Called the company and they sent a different repairman who found that it needed a new control panel, that the heater was not coming on. That was replaced on 5/24/2018 and I am still having issues with wet dishes and very wet walls when the cycle is done. I have had other dishwashers and none of them were wet when done. I think I got a lemon and have been trying to get the company to give me a replacement, even if I have to spend a bit more money. I am disgusted with the performance of this Amana product and would never recommend it to anyone.Updated on 06/15/2018: So disgusted with my new Amana dishwasher. After calling and having repairmen out 4 times I was told nothing more can be done. The is fact that my dishes and silverware have to hand dried after the cycle is done and the interior of the dishwasher is very wet. The last repairman told me its because of the thin plastic that is used and the heat is not as high is the problem. He said that after it is used for a while the walls will become seasoned. What a bunch of crap. My old dishwasher had a plastic interior and I never had to dry anything. I am so sorry I bought this dishwasher. I will never recommend Amana to anyone. I would like to dump this piece of junk on your doorstep. I have sent other emails on my problem to which I never got a response. Ignore me and I still will not go away.

Awful washer, awful service. The washer blew up with electric sparks all over the place after 3 weeks - couldve electrocuted the lady of the house! Now we are coming up on 4 weeks later and the repair is STILL NOT COMPLETE. I get a lot of sympathy but no action. The local service company never did respond to any follow up, or messages left on their god-awful phone system, and now we have to wait another week to get a second service company in there. Amana never offered to compensate for having to go to the laundromat for a month, or replace their crummy machine.

I dont know how rust could form in an aluminum line and combine with the refrigerant. I have a service contract with Amana and they refused to honor it, because they said rust is not covered. I do not believe the technician because he did not look too hard and try different things. He was in my house about 15 minutes and called to Amana. I called Amana and they told me they would not even reimburse me for spoiled food because rust damage is not covered. I have time left on my contract and they would not pro-rate it either and want to charge me for the service call. I have to purchase a new refrigerator, but not anything that Amana makes.

And you can see it when door is closed.The double glass window on the oven door broke the seal and moisture and stains are in between glass. Cant clean it. Unless you take the door off and take it apart it. The oven light only lasted about 3 months. It wont work at all. Overall I hate this stove, I thought it would be easy to clean on the top, that too is a job. I paid quite a bit of money for this stove. The sales people need to inform you how this stove functions. I would have bought a different stove from them if they would have told me.

As we were renovating our home, we continued to use our old appliances until our new laundry room was completed. The new washer and dryer stayed in a spare room, in its original packaging. This past weekend (July 5,2014), we hooked up our brand new, high eff. washer and dryer, only to find the dryer didnt work properly. It would go on for a few seconds, was really noisy and then stop, and repeat again. We called in an appliance repairman. He stated that the motor was faulty and would have to be replaced. $150 for the motor and $150 for the labor. I called Whirlpool (Amana), who said they would pay to have someone check it but that was it. Obviously, it wasnt checked properly at the factory in the first place, because if the motor was blown before we even used it, what kind of shoddy workmanship is going on. Im sure this doesnt happen often, but when it very obviously hasnt been used at all (as our repairman stated). Why could they not send out their own serviceman to affirm this and then, at the very least, give us a new motor while we would pay for the service call. I dont think we will ever buy Amana/whirlpool ever again. Very shoddy company.

Thats 30 years and still kicking. We never had any repair on it nor have any problem with the cooling system. The only one that gave up was the drinking water line after 15 years of drinking service to my family. Service that I have done was annually clean and vacuum the accumulated dust at the bottom of the refrigerator including clean the drain pan. Thats it. If I need to replace this old workhorse in my kitchen Ill purchase another Amana refrigerator. I shared our experience with our friends around and some of them bought this brand.

Recently, my Amana dishwasher model # ADB1500AWS3 panel went out. I have used this product about 20 times. I contacted Amana customer service and they said that even though the warranty expired, they would cover the part and I would have to pay for service and labor. With that understanding, I arranged service on the dishwasher. The repair guy replaced the part for $150.00 and I got a total bill for $243.00 for service, labor, and part. I contacted Amana to ask them what the next step was to get reimbursed for the $150.00. Well long story short, Amana backed out of their word and said that they were not going to cover the part now, even though a supervisor orally agreed to cover the cost of the part. I lost a lot of trust and respect for Amana and their products today. I will never purchase another Amana product again.

This hole is about one inch in diameter, with little cracks radiating outward from it. We called Amana, who sent a repairman to assess the issue. Subsequently, Amana shipped us a small tube of touch-up paint. This paint is a different colour than the ovens interior finish (black vs dark blue), stinks horribly for several days after application, and does not fill the hole even after three applications. A further call to Amana has yielded only the statement that there is nothing more they will do.By the way, the repair technician who came told us that its quite common for this kind of flaw to occur. Be advised, your nice looking appliance may start looking ugly soon after purchase, and youll be on your own! I have advised the appliance people at the local Home Depot to provide a warning to anyone wishing to buy an Amana, Whirlpool, Maytag or JennAir appliance.

Stay away from Amana. The cheap, plastic handle on my 2-year old Amana dryer broke off. I sent them an email asking them to replace it, as most reputable companies would happily do so for a customer. They took several days to respond and then asked me for the date of purchase. When I provided that date, they replied saying that they would not replace the part as the warranty had expired. They then directed me to their replacement parts webpage, where they were asking for $32.49 for a replacement part. Within 30 seconds, I found the same part being sold on Amazon for $4.99. So not only are they unhelpful, but they are trying to gouge the very customers who purchased their products in the first place. I will not be purchasing any Amana products in the future and highly recommend that you do the same.

Some of the clothes had wet spots but for the most part, my clothes looked like someone just splashed water on them. I had to redo the cycle on a larger load setting. My clothes came out FULL of someone elses lint.The dryer. Ohhh, the dryer. I then place my linty clothes in the dryer to see if they will be removed. I do a full 60 minute cycle. I open up the dryer when it is finished and my load is warm, but still damp! After 60 minutes on hot! I have to run the dryer 4 TIMES to dry a load of laundry. Needless to say, the landlord was called and he is replacing, but God, please dont let him buy another set of Amana washer and dryer. Please!!!

Whole house ends with a layer of dust every time laundry is done. Laundry room gets a nice layer of lint in it as well. Since this is a gas dryer, I have concerns about this being a fire hazard. Didnt fully appreciate the quantity of lint being spewed until after warrant was expired. Didnt contact company due to this, but it has been this way since it was delivered, just has gotten worse.

I have contacted Maytag Corp. and was told to call a service person. From what I have seen online, this is an inherent problem with this product and the company should issue a recall and make an effort to fix it at no expense to the owner. The microwave still operates perfectly, but the fear of fire or paint in food prevents me from using it.

Then the door would not close for it to turn out. She arranged for another certified Amana repair guy to come... He traded the door with other broken machine. The door closed and it turned on. He did not stick around long enough to hear the spin cycle sounding like a helicopter... And still delivered your clothes on the wet side and not very well washed. So 450.00 later we still have a broken Amana washing machine and the repair man said he fixed the door problem and it would cost more for him to look at any other problem. Its heavy but if I can I will throw it in the trash... Or put it online for salvage. Expensive lesson. Never buy another Amana after the first one broke down? But no one asked me...

Not even 2 months ago, I bought an Amana Washer and Dryer at Lowe’s Sudbury Ontario. Five days ago the washer pump is running constantly and does not complete the cycle. I called customer service on Thursday December 4th 2014 and was told that the technician will come on Monday Dec 8th between 8am and 4pm. Since they did not give me a specific time, I have had to take a vacation day from my work. Monday morning I had a message on my voice mail that they had overbooked appointments for repair and they could not make it on Monday. I called customer service again and ask why suddenly the repair technicians were overbooked when I made an appointment through Amana 4 days prior. I was told they were sorry, but they could not do anything about it. The only thing they could do was to book another appointment for Thursday December11th, between 8 am and 4 pm. This means taking another vacation day to be at home, waiting and hoping they will not cancel again. It is not only that Amana is selling a washer that is broken after 6 weeks, but they are contracting to repair companies that are not reliable. Like always, the company is good till some problems occurs, then you see their true colors. If I could return the product, I would, but because the warranty to return a product is only 30 days, I am stuck with this washer and most importantly unreliable service department. I would never recommend this product to anyone. Not pleased at all!!!!DEC. 19, 2014 UPDATE: Today we are December 18, 2014 - 3 weeks after my first call to customer service of Amana. Finally the technician came today with the part. I was relieved that the problem would be solved finally. No such luck, the part the technician brought was the wrong one. When I try to make the order for the right part, I was told that the part I need is back order, and it could take a couple of weeks or more to be delivered. I contacted Lowes in Sudbury ON, where I bought the Amana washer and dryer, looking for some solution, but the salesperson at Lowes told me that they cannot do anything to help me, because after 30 days, my chance to return the product had expired. There was nothing they could do, but it was up to me to contact Amana customer service. Over the years, I upgraded my appliances a couple of times, but never ever experienced such a crappy product and a lousy customer service like Amana. I cannot understand why a store like Lowes would be selling such junk. Now Christmas and New Year is coming and I have to go to the Laundromat. Because I live in a small village, the closest Laundromat is a 30 minutes drive. We bought this fridge for my mother-in-law who is in her mid 90s. It was the perfect size and worked well without any issues whatsoever....until it just stopped working without notice of any kind suggesting there was a problem. We called for warranty and was directed to Whirlpool for service. Apparently model # ART318FFDW wears numerous different brands including Amana, Maytag, Kenmore, IKEA and more. They advised the appliance only came with a 1-year warranty. So we called an independent service guy to service it only to be told that this is a common problem with this model and it would cost over $700 to repair it (they retail in Canada between $7-800 new), advising it was not worth repairing because there was a risk of it occurring again.He provided a report (see photo for screen shot) and suggested we call the manufacturer back as they will be aware of this problem and there may even be a recall. We did just that and they denied any knowledge of problems with this model and there were no recalls issued. And because we did not buy the additional warranty, there was no recourse. I could appreciate having to pay to fix our fridge, since there was no additional warranty, but I was certainly not expecting a 2.5 year old fridge to be unfixable. That the parts would cost as much as replacing the fridge is unacceptable.To make matters worse, Whirlpool offered us an apology with a loyalty REBATE of 15% if we purchased a replacement of any model within the Whirlpool brands, even off a discounted price. Though we were not going to purchase the same model, we thought this was at least some form of recourse and reluctantly purchased another fridge. When I filed for the claim with the code they emailed me, the code was rejected saying Code was already redeemed. I had just got the code a day earlier as this was an emergency replacement purchase, and the code was not working. I reached out to Whirlpool by replying to their email which was a no response email address. I then sent a message through their contact form and many days later still no response. If I dont receive one by the end of the week Im going through the pain of returning it and replacing it with a different brand.Long story short, I dont recommend this model nor do I recommend the Whirlpool brand because of the poor response to a lemon of a purchase.

Clothes are still sopping wet. This adds to the drying time of the somewhat inefficient dryer. On high heat, it still takes 120 minutes to dry a normal, medium sized load of clothes. And YES, the dryer is properly vented with a new, unobstructed vent which exits to the outdoors. They are both just cheap, Chinese CRAP!!

That poor design is how it is supposed to keep your refrigerated food cold. Poor design. What isnt, these days? So here we are, spent $800 for this thing and it has lasted 2 years. Now I have to spend $300 to get it fixed. Meanwhile, until we can just come up with an extra $300 to do that, we have to rent a refrigerator - another $68 a month. Now, isnt this fun? On top of that, it was evidently not working properly for about 2 months until one day I began vomiting from bad food. Not fun either. So what is a consumer to do? We are at the mercy of cheaply made and poorly designed shoddy craftsmanship and materials made by companies that just dont give a you know what anymore. They only want to make more profits out of greed and screw the consumer. They know you need these products so they can literally get away with doing whatever they want. I wonder if any really great person is going to once again build the real McCoy of Wash Machines and Refrigerators that are built to last and do! It can be done, it is just not being done and no one seems to care. Have we become so apathetic to accept this in our lives that we are the sheep they speak of? There are no choices. Oh, you think because something is stainless steel and looks pretty and shiny it is good quality? Stainless steel is only on the outside! Underneath, it still rusts! We live by the ocean in Hawaii where things are not hermetically sealed like on the mainland where houses are all closed up and furnaces run all day and night. And the Stainless steel here still rusts and they tell you right away that rust is not included in any warranty! Oh, let’s see who is Amana made by? Whirlpool I think and I am not surprised.Remember in the old days when all the washers at laundry mats were Whirlpools and they worked? Well, dont buy one these days. See my post on the one we just got! For people who say, Well, just buy the warranties they sell when you buy the item.” Yeah, and so you really are spending an additional $300 for the product, which will then last 3 more years from the day you bought it. Who is getting screwed here? - The customer either way. Remember when you bought an appliance and had it the whole time you lived in your house? Remember the Maytag repairman? And did you know your icemaker is not included in your warranty? Nope, you just have to pay for that - an additional $300-$400. Is everyone just going to roll over and accept buying a major appliance for $800 and having it last 2 years?

The freezer was working fine at this time. A week later, a technician came and told me he needed to order parts to correct the problem.On Nov 7, 2011, a technician came and told me that he would replace the compressor and relay and that the fridge would work fine for many years to come. On Nov 8, 2011, I awoke to find my fridge and freezer not working at all and all the food in the freezer melted. I phoned the technician all day and left messages, on his answering machine, but there was no reply. On Nov 9, 2011 at 10am, I phoned W3 solutions at 1-866-913-1350 and let them know what was happening. The representative then issued a new work order and told me it would be10 days before anyone got back to me. I lost around $200 worth of food and phoned Trail Appliance to complain and try to recover the cost of the food I lost. They told me they could not cover the food cost and I should contact W3 Solutions. I am now without a fridge and not scheduled for an appointment with a technician until Nov 16, 2011.I stayed home all day on Tuesday Nov 15, 2011 but there was no phone call. On Wednesday Nov 16, 2011, at 11 am, I received a phone call from the technician. He told me he had been on a vacation to Hawaii for a week and had received a dispatch for service on my fridge the day before. He told me that the brand new compressor that he had installed on Nov 7, had completely seized up, and he would have to order a new one. I asked him how long that would take and he replied a few daysI am living on canned food at the moment, being without a working fridge or freezer. I made this clear to the technician and he said that this was the best he could do. Its not good enough!It is now 2 months since I initiated the service call and have struggled without a working fridge. There seems to be no accountability for the technicians doing the work, since the technician who installed the compressor and relay would not return my calls. If there is a problem after a technician leaves, the only option is to phone W3 Solutions to book another appointment with a technician to start the process all over again. Then if a technician has to order parts, you wait for the parts to come by snail mail to the technician and service can take months. It would seem that they are trying hard to wear the customer down so as to purchase a new appliance, and skip the service calls. This is ridiculous and I am not happy with Trail Appliance, Whirlpool or W3 Solutions who do contract service for Whirlpool. Its unacceptable!

Thirdly, the dishwasher upper rack keeps falling off the track because end bracket on the left side often comes unsnapped. These design (or should I say misdesigned) elements of Amana products should not be occurring. Especially after only a few months of use. Oh, by the way, after my 1 yr. warranty expired a couple months ago, I received a card offering to extend my warranty. You have to be kidding! I have sold my home and I will not have to be living with these inferior Amana appliances for long. I will never purchase an Amana appliance ever again. I used to think made in America meant something.

The popping noise was from the ice maker flap opening and closing. The HV board needs replaced, Whirlpool Manufacturer #12920710. I contacted Amana to order the part. The service rep said it is on backorder until February because they have been pulled from the shelf and are being revamped. When I asked if the part would be covered by Amana, since a part needing revamped was essentially defective, I was told no. Requested to speak with supervisor, who states she didnt know where I had heard that the part is being revamped but occasionally, they have difficulty finding manufacturers to produce parts and was certain this was the circumstance. I was told there were no other complaints like mine documented. Amazingly, however, the supervisor was able to locate the backordered part, which the service rep, the parts department and two independent repair shops were unable to find. I expressed my concern that the part found, only three in stock, may be leftover from the stock requiring revamping, rather from the previous manufacturer and not of the same quality of the part which may be produced and available in February. I suggested they reimburse for the part. They declined. I suggested they reimburse should the replacement part need replaced. They declined. I thought of more suggestions but didnt feel they were appropriate to express. Whirlpool/Maytag/Amana should recall the bottom freezer refrigerators with the HV board #12920710 due to defective or faulty part or incompatibility with these refrigerator models.

The compressor fan had to be replaced. That repair cost $175.00. Less than two years later, its same problem: The freezer seemed to be okay but temps in the food section couldnt get much below 50 degrees. But this time, the Amana was declared dead by our repair technician. He determined that half the coils in the refrigeration assembly were not working - at all. Basically, the only way to fix it would be to replace the entire refrigeration coil assembly - something that cant practically be done once this model leaves the factory. In other words, it isnt even repairable. When you add up the initial price paid, plus the cost of one repair, this POS appliance cost us $200.00+ per year of use. Needless to say, the replacement refrigerator we purchased was not manufactured by Amana.

Delivery time a week. A week passed no stove. Phone call made told they were out of stock and would be in a few weeks. Got a call after a few weeks, delivery would be in the next 2 hours. 4 hours later calls made and no stove would be delivered on next day in a 4 hour open window. Stove arrived, mover said See it works and turned on top burner, was in a hurry and disappeared. Finally a stove top & oven. Went to grocery store did the big shop roasts, baking goods, quiche supplies etc. Got home prepared food for oven. Started preheat and nothing seemed to click or change. Thought it might be user error entering in temp, bake, time etc in wrong order. Called Amana they are not open Sat and Sun. Called Home Depot not helpful since store did not sell it to me, was bought online. Provided a Maytag number called that. Rep wanted model number it was on the stove. It was not on the directions. I read off what was on the stove front and saw no model. Tried oven door, no, no model number. Finally she asked a colleague and said Look in the pull out drawer. No not there but I noticed a thin metal stamped striped hidden by the drawer. Down on my knees, head upside down tried to read print. Too tiny. Gave her model number based on Home Depot photo but then she needed a serial number, on the thin strip. Could not read it. I asked her as I had asked Home Depot what the code meant and had I entered in bake the wrong way and why did it say F1E1. Finally she said I needed a technician since that meant the control panel was broken but without a serial number nothing could be done. That was on a Sat. Tue someone stopped by and was able to write the number down using a flashlight. Called back in and next appointment if keep by Amana will be in a week.Summary a basic stove, no special adaptions, was ordered and it will be between 4-6 weeks before it might be useful. Food had to be thrown out, other items quality diminished by freezing. Why a new stove is delivered with a non working control panel is unacceptable. No remuneration was offered by Amana nor Home Depot for inability to cook, time wasted for delivery and now technician. If your product is not available and does not work you should not be advertising it.

They arranged for a repairman to come out.In Sept. the ref was deemed unrepairable and a replacement was ordered and arrived Oct. 8. Within a week or so I was again calling Amana. This ref was not cooling properly. Ice was forming on inside wall of freezer and ref compartment was too warm. To keep this from going on forever let me say 2 repair companies and at least 8 repair trips later this 4 month old ref is still not working. One person from Amana suggested that I just keep my food in another ref. All the other representatives sympathized with me and called to schedule a repair appt. All I can say is that this ref is poorly designed and Amana Makes JUNK. I will never buy another Amana product and I am sorry I paid cash for this one.

The touchpad membrane control has failed several times in the 10 years that I have owned an expensive Amana range. Amana replaced the part at the first failure but I had to pay thereafter. Each repair costs $100.00 for parts--relatively inexpensive because I do the repair myself. This failure should not happen. Amana is no longer the quality manufacturer that it once had been. I will not purchase any Amana appliances in the future.
