I purchased from CARRIER a 3 ton, 2 speed heat pump and Infinity 2 stage, variable speed gas furnace in May 2005. In 2012 I had to replace the capacitor and compressor. The compressor was under warranty, but still cost me $568. In September 2016 I had to replace the evaporator coil to the tune of $975. Now I am told that the compressor needs to be replaced. The compressor is less than 5 years old! I called Carrier to voice my concerns and was transferred to the next level of customer service. Stephanie #** was rude. DO NOT BUY CARRIER PRODUCTS!

Despite the inverter unit being sold to me as a cost saver, this is clearly not the case. The circuit boards are poor quality and do not last 5 years. Replacement boards cost the price of a new regular air conditioner. No-one advises you that you need to perform rust prevention, this prevention, that prevention when you have it installed, but when it goes wrong they are sure to let you know. I will never again waste my hard earned money on a Carrier aircon, nor an inverter unit. A regular, modern unit consumes roughly the same power as an average fridge/freezer. The cost to maintain an inverter unit is ridiculous.

2017 AC Bad Condensor Coil after 1.5 years. Model 24abc636a300. $500 to find leak & add 3 pounds of Freon. $1500 to remove outside unit (take back to Carrier) & install new one. Several leaks on Cond. coils at welds & Baffle plate. Also they dont even install low pressure switches to protect the compressor. These are the notes from AC Tech: Found unit to have small leak in condenser coil. Appears to be in between header plate and coil making it difficult to bubble test. However video indicates a leak with electronic leak detector. Customer not interested in replacing coil under warranty at this time. Customer only wanted to charge unit. Leak will only worsen and refrigerant will leak out again and with no high or low pressure switches compressor damage could occur if unit continues to run with no refrigerant. Unit also has 45+5 mfd battery pack weak and customer declined replacing under warranty as well.

Faulty coil sensor so unit failed to go into defrost cycle. $232 for labor as out of the 1 year period. Guessing the part cost only a few dollars. I had three Carrier units (top of the line) installed for our new home. Every year since, we have had numerous problems and service calls. Now, it has become unbearable. Last Friday, our air conditioning went out. It is now Tuesday and there has been no resolution or help from Carriers online or phone center. We replaced the air handling unit ($900) two weeks ago. Now, the compressor is bad in our main unit. We called the company that installed the units and they showed up and found that it was the compressor. When they submitted the information on the warranty, they found that Carrier knows that the units are bad and has a program to replace the compressor with a different brand. So, the guys filled out all of the paperwork (Bristol Program Audit Form) and run the diagnostic tests to prove to Carrier that it is the compressor. There was a long list of serial numbers and models included in this list (I call a recall list). Upon returning the information to the Columbia, SC representative to get authorization for the part, they are told that since they are now not a certified Carrier service center, that they are unable to do the repairs. So we have had to start the process all over again. The service technician seems baffled since they let him do one less than two weeks ago, with the same faulty product.Additionally, the service company is not sure that the new $900 air handler with be compatible with the new compressor, if we ever get one. The temperature inside of our home is 84 degrees and it is supposed to reach 100 degrees by Friday. Since I have three of these units, I am concerned about the future of the units and the failure of Carrier to be proactive in replacing the compressors that they know have been faulty. Again, calling the 1-800- CARRIER number just led me to someone telling me that it is my home and my problem to handle and that the problems with the compressors are very limited. However, it must not be very limited to have a written protocol for the diagnosis of the problems and the units affected.

Only a few months on, the blower fan failed a first time, then a second time in 2016, a third time in 2018 and again in May 2019. Now the Carrier approved dealer company that has serviced our equipment since 2016 is recommending that we replaced the entire unit. Carrier is refusing to provide their assistance nor to replace the unit under the motive that the installation is to blame. Interestingly enough, this new unit installation is identical to the previous one that was also a Carrier furnace. Weve had only bad experiences with this company. I would not recommend it to my best enemy. ;0

Just found out it has only a 5-year warranty, but starting in 2010 they made it a 10-year warranty. I think it is plain wrong that Carrier only has a 5-year warranty for a machine that costs upwards $6000. No way a coil should go out in 6 years.

I too bought a Carrier 3.5 ton split system a/c for my home in May of 2008. During the first year the installer would fix all the minor problems as they popped up, no out of pocket expenses. The 2nd year it started getting expensive. Refrigerant leaks, fan motors quitting, coils leaking and needing to be replaced, drip pan cracking and leaking, pounds of Puron added, startup capacitor replaced three times, and today 2.5 pounds of Puron. The only thing that hasnt quit yet is the compressor. I have spent a great sum of money from the yearly fix up. Carrier is undependable and expensive. My buddy had similar problems with his carrier. He installed his in 2007. After the 4th year of breaking down, he called a Trane dealer and had a unit installed. Up till now never a repair. He said for me to save my money and switch to TRANE.

All of the units run off of batteries first which are energized by street power and generator power. Ill keep everyone posted on how this evolves. I pay 20k a year for a 24/7/365 response on the HVAC systems. Hopefully, Carrier steps up and does the right thing.

I replaced the condenser motor and cap on a unit that was placed into service 6/29/2012 on July 22/2017. After a storm blew through Sunday evening the evaporator fan blew up on start up. I called Carrier and it only has a 5 yr warranty, I was told sorry have a nice day. This is BS to have a unit 5 yrs old lose 2 motors. Not to mention the cost of the Xm evaporator motor is several hundred dollars.These new motors does not have cost savings the consumer is told they do. If a motor replacement is $400 @ 5yrs then you will never see a return on investment, energy savings. Total junk. I suggest people install a regular 1/2 hp motor with a fan relay at half the installation cost. Ive worked on hundreds of Carrier, Trane & York units from 1/2ton window units up to several thousand ton chillers. Ive even been to the Carrier training facility is Syracuse NY.As a Retired licensed stationary engr. we started noticing the lack of repairability in the 90s on all refrigeration and motor control units. Once the energy craze took off cooling units (all motors/controls etc) became electronic nightmares. The consumer is being fleeced as some contractors are charging 1000$ to replace a motor and capacitor, board whatever part they think might be bad because these units cant be properly diagnosed once a internal part goes bad. 5 yrs in and Im looking at just under a 1000$ in repairs for a 4000$ unit. All energy money savings is lost on repairs. I use to work on units that were 20-30 years old and were still operating with minimal repairs.

I contacted the dealer who installed the system and they said it was just that the system was new. A few months later, with no change in the odor, I contacted them again and they came out and told me I must have a dead animal in the duct work. Not! The odor was not constant like it would be if it were a dead animal.Then cooling season rolled around and no problems. The system worked great. Now heating season again and again, the odor was back. Called dealer again and they came out and said they couldnt smell it. Gave it a couple weeks and called dealer again (when it was very cold outside). Finally, the technician admitted noticing the smell, but had no idea what it was. He contacted the regional Carrier representative and was told that it was Dirty Sock Syndrome. He recommended cleaning coils with Listerine and installing a UV light.Dealer wanted to charge nearly $700 to install a light to get rid of an odor that I shouldnt have in the first place. It didnt exist with my old unit. From what I have read on the Internet, the UV light will likely not solve the problem anyway.I contacted Carrier and am getting the run-around that it was my environment that was causing the problem. Nothing had changed in my environment. Same environment with old system = no foul odor. Same environment with new system = foul odor. Conclusion was that there was something with the new equipment that was not getting along with the same environment thus the only thing that had changed was the equipment.Carrier, to this point, has refused to help. This was a known issue that these manufacturers were aware of and have been aware of, but refused to warn consumers about or correct the problem. In my mind, we need a Class Action suit filed in defense of the consumers in this country that are being taken for a ride by the HVAC manufacturers.

But what I did not agree with is getting charged $120.00 in labor to install a motor that has not even passed its warranty date. I have had the air-conditioner repair tech at my house at least 25 times. I replaced fan motors and starter capacitors twice and other parts. Recently it wont cool to the desired temperature. Now its come to my attention the condenser coil is turning to dust. I paid for what I believed to be the best air-conditioner on the market. And it has just been one constant disappointment. The AC tech came out and told me that I need to replace the coil and that it would cost $2500 but he recommended that I replace the entire unit. The cost of a new one is roughly the same as that. So its basically totaled. Carrier will do nothing for me. I expected so much more. I felt it reasonable to assume that this would last many years.

I was told there was a small Freon leak and my vent directions were set wrong and everything should be OK. 2016 - Again the A/C not cooling house. The original technician did not return my calls. I hired another company to diagnose/fix. They told me there was a Freon leak that caused damage to my unit and it needs to be replaced. I contacted Payne (a division of Carrier). Wow! A service tech responded with aggression/sarcasm. He kept saying Well why cant you tell me whats wrong the unit? I kept asking him to call the HVAC company to find out. He told me I had to hire yet another company at my cost and that Payne would not pay for this even though he had not talked to the first company. He agreed to talk to the first company. Days later, no response. The outside HVAC company told me they have tried to contact the agent several times. No response. I contacted customer relations at Payne. I was just informed my conversation is being recorded. This unit is still under warranty and now I have read reviews from this site, I am horrified! I have spent hours on the phone. It has been 90 degrees this week and I cant get anyone to help me.

Freon again. This time condenser leaking. $200 for the Freon, another $84 to find the leak, and now 1$278 to replace the coil. We asked carrier to replace the whole heat pump as we must have a lemon and they sent info to product review, we thought they were considering helping with at least the labor costs if not a whole new unit. I called back after over 2 weeks of not hearing, and they said they would only replace the coil, because our unit is over 10 yrs old! HUH? Its been less than 5 yrs, and they said we didnt maintain it in over 10 yrs! HUH, hello carrier? 2016 from 2011 purchase date is 5 yrs. Yes, the unit is maintained but not by your service contract. No wonder All Temp Co. Heating and Air Conditioning of Harrisburg, NC sells these. They get a lot of work out of these inferior products, over and over again. Run as fast as you can and buy a Trane. Wish we had. Maybe carrier might move back from Mexico. I guess it doesnt matter where its made if they wont stand behind their product. I think after 2 major leaks we deserved more than their attitude and bad record-keeping.

Sure parts are warranted, but the labor was excessive for the repair. Id look elsewhere for a good unit if you have the opportunity.

It's efficient and cheaper to operate than the new Ruud gas system in my old condo. The heat is so warm. It's not anything like the old heat pumps that seemed to throw cool air for heat. My old condo and my house are about the same size. Both are on slabs. My heating/cooling bills at the house are half of the condo's. What a blessing. Thank you Carrier!!

My June 2005 Carrier heat pump (50XZ036, packaged unit, 36KBTU or 3 tons) failed within the 1st year while parts and labor warranty was in effect. The evaporator/inside coil had to be replaced after more than one attempt by the original Carrier installer to simply recharge the leaked Puron (a trademark for R0410A, a type of Freon as for the old R22), and I hope for the best. The unit would quit cooling after several weeks of use. I heard on this site that 2005/6 evaporator failures are from using R22 evaporator coils, which are not designed to withstand Puron operating pressures.In 2009, when the parts-only warranty was in effect, the 2006 replaced evaporator coil failed, and I paid a second Carrier installer $450+ to replace the evaporator coil. The original installer wanted $900 in labor, of which Puron was ~$400. The 2nd installer had a lower Puron markup of x4 (~$25/#) versus x9 (~$50/#) for the 1st installer. Puron sells for $155 for 25 lbs. The 2nd installer in 2012 charges $35/# for Puron, R-414a.In 2010, the compressor failed to run for 20 hours; only the inside fan would run, and the failure corrected itself before the 2nd installer came to investigate the failure. The heat pump worked well in the next two years.In June 2012, I came back from vacation to a warm house (81F). The compressor was running all the time, and 72F air was coming out of the vent instead of ~58F. The evaporator coil leaked Puron, and it ices over. After 3 failed evaporator coils from the same cause of external tubing corrosion caused by the design of cooper tubing contacting aluminum fins, I can say that these non-moving and non-electronic components are a manufacturing defect.I am seeking that Carrier Corp. turn back the clock to 2006 and repair my evaporator coil for free for both parts and labor with the improved evaporator coil - something they should have done in the first repair in 2006. There is a Carrier October 2005 literature citing the option of getting a corrosion-resistant evaporator coil. This was never told to me in 2006 or in 2009. Why is there an option to a consumer to buy the $5000 heat pump with the poorly designed evaporator coil or the one with the improved tin version of evaporator coil? No one would buy the inferior product.The northern Alabama distributor mentioned that since 2010, Carrier will not install the inferior evaporator coils in the SE US. Just yesterday, this same distributor preferred to sell my 2nd installer the inferior evaporator coil while he had the improved tin evaporator coil. I asked him what his markup was in trying to sell these inferior evaporator coils. Oh, that is proprietary. The previous furnace had been in the home for nearly 30 years and still running strong.Since we had this product installed, we have had to have it serviced every year. They have replaced the circuit board, switches, coils, re-worked the lines and yet again, with the temperature at 25 degrees, it has gone out again. At the time we thought we were getting a quality product, but now we realize that this product is not worth the contract we signed when we purchased it. Very disappointing to pay that kind of money for a product that does not work. The installers have came out each time and performed a quick fix instead of addressing the obvious issue, which is apparently a faulty product. I would never recommend a carrier product to another. As far as the duct work being under-sized, which I have heard some refer to when this product was installed we had duct work installed, also, its the product itself. Very disappointed, never again.

So, with a brand new heat pump you would think all would be good now. Wrong.Winter of 2015 and the system is running on heat-strip backup about 70% of the time. It is a MILD winter here also. I got my electric bill and the kilowatt usage for January had TRIPLED!! $$$. Dealer came out. Did something and said nothing is wrong. Next month I watched the thermostat as it stated the backup strips were running constantly AGAIN. The air-handler would blow cold air even when outside temps were in the mid 30s. When the pump couldnt meet the thermostat demand, on comes the electric strips... up goes my electric bill! I turned off the heat strips to tell the system to use heat pump only, but the only thing I get now is a constantly running air-handler and a VERY cold house. Buyer beware of Carriers low-quality product and marketing HYPE. This is NOT your fathers Carrier of yesterday.

The estimated cost to replace the coil (coil still under 5-year part warranty) for labor is $993 (includes the cost of 8lbs of Puron) and an additional $150-$400 to do a leak search. I am looking at approximately $1200+ for labor to repair. For a fairly expensive outlay for a piece of equipment and only lasting 3 years, this doesnt sit too well with me. After reading all the following complaints about Carrier and their evap coils, you wonder, where is their engineering on these coils? Possibly thicker copper tubing might help with the increase in operating pressures with Puron? Where is their quality control? Where is their concern for their customer base? If you keep making an inferior product (or is this planned obsolescence?), maybe Carrier needs to take lessons from Japan on making good products. My previous Payne A/C lasted approximately 35 years with only approximately 3 service calls. Needless to say, I am a very dissatisfied customer with this product. In fact, I am thinking on having this unit pulled out and buying another brand and take my loss as I have no confidence that another evap coil replacement will not fail in the future.

It has undergone consistent maintenance and service in the spring and fall every year. I contacted Carrier with the problem and they refused any assistance because the 5 year warranty has expired on the component, even though the local Carrier dealer who installed and serviced the units confirmed it is a manufacturing problem. The 3 unit models are: FV4BNF002, serial # 1606A82006; FV4BNF005, serial # 1106A87390; and FV4BNF005, serial # 4805A85599.If anyone reading this review is planning on installing a Carrier unit, please think twice and also read the 80+ other similar complaints. Also, please pass the word around so that others will not have to go through similar experience. The builder convinced us to install these Carrier units when we were considering another leading HVAC brand known for its excellent customer service and product reliability.

From what I have been able to gather from the installers the computer system on Infinity is complicated. I am frustrated, exasperated and with Winter coming on desperate. I hate to see what I am going to be charged for a system that does not fully function.

I quit using installer because failed again in less than 10 minutes after driving out the driveway, got ahold of another service company, they found high temp sensor bad kicking off furnace before satisfying thermostat, got that repaired, next thing started periodic igniter fail or repeated attempt to light kick into lock out mode again. This would not fail when service man present, told me to wait till completely fail, find problem them, month later total fail.The service company owner came out this time, found no electricity, the junction block for wiring some screws loose likely from defective assembly, yup assembled in Mexico, Once that got locked down, ignited immediately, inducer motor quieter, blower quieter, was lacking enough electric all along. Runs like should. Point is I am out hundreds of dollars on a unit under warranty, I have contacted United Technology to see if they will reimburse for defective assembly, that is not excluded under their warranty. Submitted claim today, will see what they do about this, I will follow up with the outcome of this when I hear from them, I had previous Carrier lasted 20 plus years, cracked exchanger at 20 was still running, Why I bought another, this one with new controls been a nightmare, the faulty assembly my opinion caused all the trouble all along.

My units carry a 5 year warranty (parts only, labor was for one year I believe) which could have been extended to 10 if my units were registered (for marketing purposes I was told) within 90 days of closing on my home. With the mountain of paperwork/moving/dealing with banks/contractor I missed this deadline. I cannot say they, I wasnt handled a piece of paper at some time telling me to do so. Even though I am still in the initial warranty period, and Carrier could obtain my data for marketing purposes, they will not extend my warranty for the additional 5 years.That being said this equipment should not have failed so many times in such a short period of time. I have had no issues with any of the other appliances in my home, only my Carrier equipment. They treat their warranty like rebate cards. They know most people wont register their equipment so they can get out of the additional years of warranty. I only found out about this from a different Carrier dealer who will now be servicing my equipment. Buy something else. The equipment I have is unreliable and thus far I have not been impressed with their service. I did not have a choice as my builder had the equipment installed, when it is replaced I will stay away from Carrier.

This has happened 3 times in less than 90 days. One was short compressor mounting bolts from the factory and the refrigerant line broke during shipment. Carrier said it was a warranty issue. I say a factory defect! They wanted me to fix and not provide a replacement. Took a lot of my time 15 plus hours but they finally replaced. Today new unit had a bad transformer and would only heat. When switched to cool compressor would only run for 15 seconds and would shut off on high limit. Brand new unit needs a reversing valve.Again Carrier wants me to repair and not provide a replacement unit. Carrier corporate is useless in solving my issues as a contractor. I feel for the all the homeowners. Trane is 60 yards away from CARRIER GREAT LAKES, my local carrier distributor. I walked over to Trane and will be paying more for heat pumps and will have to pass on the cost to my customers, but at least they answer the phone without attitude and have handled all of our other problems with a smile. MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR COMPLAINT IN BEFORE THEY COMPLETE THEIR MOVE TO MEXICO.

She didnt even know what the part was nor considered that it should not have failed at least 5 years premature! Oddly enough, there was another person listening into our conversation (another supervisor, Diane ID #**). She just came on the line without identifying herself and interrupted our conversation to say they would do absolutely nothing nor consider helping. Not only did I find this company absolutely uninterested in doing what is right, you could tell they were trained to do exactly the opposite. The way they operate, having big brother ready to chime in when they can to deny a claim, was downright creepy! Do yourself a favor. Look at all these miserable reviews of this awful company and steer clear of them. I have never written a review of a company before, but if theres one person I can help by reading this, its worth it. Carrier, you truly are an awful company and should be ashamed!

Today I was told by the installer that my blower motor was out and that it was under warranty. Later I was told that the 10 year warranty I was sold was not valid because I did not register it online within 90 days of the installation. We were never told by the installer that we needed to do this to have the warranty. In fact the page of information that was torn from the book and had the serial numbers on it does not even have any statement regarding the need to register the product within 90 days in order to obtain the 10 year warranty. Not even hidden in the fine print. Carrier instead requires the installer to make sure that the buyer knows that they need to register online. Both my wife and I work and we are not even sure if either of us were home when this work was completed as we had contractors working at the house. I took this all the way up to a Senior Person at Carrier. I was told by them nothing they can do, take it up with the installer. They will not allow you to go back and register your product. If this company is as good as the other installers that have posted say, then I would think that Carrier itself would allow the consumer to register the product retroactively, especially when the homeowner was not aware of the requirement. Im not even saying they should pay for the immediate service, my installer will take care of that because that falls on him, but to screw the homeowner out of the rest of the warranty shows a definite lack of support for their products. What happens now if my installer goes out of business or sells his business to someone else? I agree with the others on this blog who have wrote no Carrier ever again. I have an older Trane unit in the upstairs that has not given me one problem. I guarantee when that needs to be replaced, it wont be with a Carrier!

We’ve been without air the entire summer (2019) due to our unit constantly blowing fuses. We’ve paid $600 in labor to replace all different kinds of Carrier parts that did not fix the issue. We have a parts warranty which is a joke because of expensive labor costs to fix a unit that is only three years old. Ok, the last one was due to a gecko crawling into the unit in cold weather and short circuiting the board. But then again, why did Carrier make such an open-to-the elements panel on the outside unit for sensitive electronics that would allow critters to crawl in? Dont forget the costs of the air purifier filter element - $100+ yearly (But you get a year’s service out of it still 8x more expensive than a regular Filtrete on sale at a big box store) and UV bulbs that Carrier says should be replaced yearly ($150 plus per bulb - 2 required).But the biggest shock: Last fall I wanted to clean the heat pump units outside coil and discovered that the aluminum fins on the Puron (Freon) coils have pretty much oxidized and are deteriorating (crumbling to dust) ON AN 8 YEAR OLD UNIT! Now I read that Carrier makes a Coastal heat pump that is more corrosion-resistant from salt air. Wonder why? I am ticked at having paid $10k new system + $2200 to-date in repair costs to Carrier to be an unpaid beta tester for their new technology. And the beta tester gift just keeps on taking. To Infinity and beyond are my estimated future repair costs on this system.

CARRIER had a known problem with the coils. The lack of stock and the long fulfillment time are logically related. Several false ship promises further belie this contention. Carrier should have made me whole for all expenses. They did not exhibiting lack of concern for the customer and their brand.

It stops around 81-82 degrees even if we set it to 76 or lower, especially for hot summer days when outside is over 90 degrees. We had Carrier dealers come to check and perform maintenance many times but no help. They said the a/c is fine but might be inside programming problem or controller problem which they cant fix and ask us to contact Carrier. Every time when we called Carrier, we were told to go to local dealers but local Carrier dealer asks us to go to Carrier. We are trying to find out if Carrier can have someone who can run a thorough diagnosis to figure out what is going on but dont know who we can approach. The a/c problem we noticed is a/c doesnt run enough time and stop (sometimes just 1 minutes) even it is far away from the temperature we set on controller (we set to 76, room temperature on controller is 84) then the a/c waits for a long time to restart then doesnt run enough time and stop again. Hope this helps us to get to the right place to fix the issue

My service company followed the repair instructions that suggests replacement of a main PC board and then a motor module. It turns out the main PC board did not need replacement and the motor module was defective - a couple of months outside warranty. Carrier wont accept the unused main PC board back once it was opened. At wholesale cost I was out $900 for the two parts. I would wish that Carrier would accept the PC board back for credit and replace the motor module under warranty. So far I have had no luck going up the chain at Carrier. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have fixed this several times by putting the armature in my lathe and turning down the section in the fins that are rubbing on the switch. So when I told the woman I could log in to their website to register the product while she was on the phone, she said she wasnt allowed to hold for customers. She seemed pretty rude. The problem here is that the Carrier website wont allow me to register my product (tried three different browsers) and their customer service will not help me register. This comes across as a warranty scam. Make it difficult so that customers dont register the product then deny warranty claims.

Then my compressor went out a year later. Now my compressor wont start again. The HVAC people will only tell me it has age on it. It is 7 years old. I have spent over $1000 of my own money fixing it. I had zero issues with the way they treated me but the message was poor. I will try to keep this as short as possible. We purchased a 3.5 year old home last year. The previous owner almost never used the AC. He figured that they ran it maybe 3 weeks total in the 3 years they had the home. We purchased mid summer and ran it sparingly last year. This spring we had to have it charged and again 6 weeks later. Another month later it was out of refrigerant again. They came in with a sniffing tool and found a leak in the evaporator coil. We had $500 into service calls at this point. I was told that it was manufactured on Aug 19th, 2011. I called in Monday August 22nd, 2016 and was basically told that I was out of luck because the warranty ran out on Friday. The fact was that it was not installed until October 20th, 2011 but no one could produce the original receipt. The original owner, original builder, original HVAC installer and current HVAC company all offered to call in or write up letters detailing the issue but I was told an original receipt was my only option. I would not recommend or ever use Carrier again. The repair cost me $1400 to go along with $500 in service calls and time off work. Poor quality and VERY VERY poor customer service. I would have been happy if they would have just warrantied the unit. I completely understand that labor is not something anyone would cover.

I thought I purchased the best warranty and well-known product available with the cost of over $7000. After 18 months of operation, this unit started having problems. After a multitude of service calls to the dealer, it was determined that there was a water to freon leak. It was then classified as a catastrophic failure event. This happened during the middle of winter and we had to rely upon the back up heat system, which barely provided enough heat to keep but consumed a huge amount of power.Carrier required the dealer to cut the water coil unit and sent to Oklahoma to be analyzed. It was apparently determined the copper tubing had developed corrosion by contaminated loop fluid and their opinion was that it was not a manufacturing problem. I requested the coil system be returned so that I could have it analyzed by my own sources. I did not receive any response. I did, however, keep both intake and outtake ends of this coil system. There is no indication of any corrosion.Through many calls to dealer, distributor, and manufacturer (Carrier), the distributor finally agreed to replace the now destroyed heat pump, if I agreed to remedy the so-called water corrosion problem with a separate enclosed plate to plate loop heat exchanger, which I agreed to due out of desperation at the cost of $2600.The new water source heat pump provided by the distributor is a Carrier 50 YD model, installed on 04/22/11. Alas, this was not the end of the story. On 01/11/13 (20 months after installation), I had to have a service call to replace the freeze control sensor. One month later, Im still having problems. Another service call determined there was a freon leak at one of the solder connections which was repaired. I was wrong once again thinking, I had a good warranted Carrier product.As I understand it Carrier would not honor any of the repair costs which the dealer said he would absorb. Needless to say, Im stuck with this product. I really have no problems with the dealer or the distributor. It appears to me they took the brunt of the cost on this matter, which I feel should have been provided by the manufacturer. As you can see, this has been a long drawn process which the manufacturer has not taken any responsibility. This has created a lot of extra stress on my family and me. Obviously, I am not a happy customer and I feel that Carrier has given me, my dealer, and the distributor a lot of headaches and hassles. This is causing a lot of redundant time-consuming checks and rechecks and no warranty support. I will never recommend or purchase a Carrier product.

We had a bad experience a couple of summers ago (the a/c was not cooling) and it all came down to the one question I failed to ask the 2 repair companies that were sent to our home by our home warranty company: Does your company INSTALL Carrier systems? Well, (after the 2 companies had spent countless hours and replaced the evaporator coil--which did not make the problem go away), that one little question did the trick! The warranty found one company that actually had installed these systems and they came out and after an hour of hooking up the compressor to the techs computer and consulting with the engineers in Houston, the problem was identified. They replaced the compressor and that was that. We love it. The comfort it brings to our home and the money it saves with the highest efficiency system... We only wish we would have gotten a zoned system. I would recommend Carrier---but you have to get the right people to be your service technicians, preferably the company that installed it...and just take really good care of the system--do all your check-ups regularly. It is not inexpensive to purchase, so why would you just hire anyone to service it?

I have spent over 60 days so far trying to get this heat pump fixed. The dealer/owner is a walk away guy - wants to install pricey equipment and if anything goes wrong threatens you with lawsuit to pay. I have never, ever, experienced such a bad company and bad people. One tech said, You can call me 100 times but Im not gonna fix your heat pump. And just buy floor fans. That should work. Unreal - spare yourself this stress and use a reputable company.After calling, writing, emailing everyday for over 60 days, corporate Carrier has been of no help to me and the local dealer/installer is worse. Carrier only cares about sales and protects its rogue dealers - customers mean nothing. My home is being damaged everyday - no cooling, no heat, high humidity (mold) and no airflow or ventilation. 60 days of no action, I worry about when winter comes with no heat.

Over the years it is required maintenance such as, replacing some parts usually costing around $750 to $1500. I weighed the maintenance costs with buying a new one for around $6000. But seems to be working good with the maintenance that I have done.

They are sorry I am dissatisfied. I own four Toyotas because they stand behind their product. Last Carrier product I will own. I called by HVAC contractor in Fl and he is replacing my failing unit with Rheem. Sorry Carrier, customer service doesnt take an Einstein.

They dont keep replacement parts in stock locally and they are located in New York which is really far from Florida which is where I live. My unit needs a part replaced and they dont have it in stock either locally or in New York and they do not know when they will have it in stock. I live in Florida where you cannot be without air conditioner. Their 10 year warranty is non-existent as they will charge you for shipping the part and if you want to expedite it for next day they will charge you even more. Now how is it my fault that the part is not available locally. What kind of service are you giving your customers if you are selling a product that you do not have parts for.

Although the compressor was covered, my bill was $734. The $4070 Carrier unit did not even work for two years. I think since it was Carriers fault their unit was at fault that they should have been responsible for the bill since the compressor has a warranty for ten years and didnt even last for two years. They should have at least been responsible for the freon that the unit lost because of their inferior product. I will never buy another Carrier product!

As of May, 2015 the unit was making an unusual loud noise, although the technician was not able to find anything wrong. In August, 2016 the unit was making a loud noise again. This time we also noticed water leaking and that the unit will successively go on and off. The technician determined that the units expansion valve was faulty. In August 2016 the repair was completed. While the parts were covered under the warranty, we incurred expenses for the labor in amount of $375.00. In addition to the expense incurred and the hindrance of not having AC in 100 degrees weather, we had to twice take time off from our jobs, once to have the unit inspected and a second time to have the repairs done, which took nearly 5 hours to complete. We were disappointed to say the least and find it unacceptable that a new unit that has been in use for less than 2 years, to have such issues.To resolve the problem, we contacted Carrier and kindly requested a full reimbursement of the $375.00 cost we incurred. Per our online research, this issue has happened to other Carrier users and we deem this to be a flaw in the manufacturing of the system, and not normal wear and tear. The response back was that, while they are sorry for the inconvenience created by their system, they cant help us as they are not responsible for the labor cost we incurred! After we spent close to $7k on a new unit, I find it unacceptable to have to spend another $400 in the second year on repairs!

In mid-2007, I had my 13-year old HVAC system replaced with a Carrier Infinity system with 5 ton 14.0 SEER unit (model #24ANA760A003) to give a peace of mind regarding reliability. Two years ago, the system failed and the temp in my house got to over 100 degrees here in AZ. The installation company told me the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced at a cost of over $800. This with the unit still under warranty! Now almost exactly two years later, the compressor again went out and needs to be replaced. The owner of the installation company told me that Carrier acknowledges that this is a faulty unit (as evidenced by the multiple other complaints here), but refuses to replace it with anything other than another unit of the very same defective model. And of course, I have to pay all the labor charges again. Carrier seems truly unconcerned regarding customer service and only wants to take your money and run. Perhaps, as a previous writer suggested, a class action lawsuit is in order.

Very dissatisfied with the quality of our Carrier 4 ton air conditioner (model 24ABB348A003). The compressor failed after only 3 years and it was not a blow out failure. The technician said it is internal failures most likely due to the quality of the compressor. The warranty of course only cover the park itself, not even the coolant they have to refill after reinstall the compressor. The diagnosis and the replace of the compressor cost about the 1/4 of the original cost and install of the air conditioner. It is ridiculous to have to spend so much on labor to fix a major component on an problem most likely due to the quality of their product.When speaking to a carrier representative, they do not stand by their product, only referring to the letter of the warranty agreement. Parts also does not include coolant cost. The excuse is that they do not know what exactly cause the compressor failure and they do not look at every compressor that failed, even those that failed in much less typical lifetime of the product. It is very good to know that Carrier does not take quality of their product seriously enough to diagnose major component that prematurely failed. Either that or they have so much failure on their compressor that they just dont care. Either conclusion does not speak well of Carrier as a company.

Carrier refused to cover. A year ago the compressor went out again. Carrier was willing to cover the compressor under a 10 year warranty, but not labor. My contract stated parts and labor. They later, after much negotiation, agreed to replace the condenser (including compressor) for $2500 and would extend a new warranty for 10 years parts and labor. Now the unit dies and its a circuit board. After replacing the unit would not come on again. It took 7 hours on the phone between the tech and Carrier to get it running again. Carrier support was reading a manual to help the tech figure out the problem. Their service even to a technician is a joke. I will never own another Carrier.

They replaced it with the same Bristol compressor knowing it was defective compressor but promised that if it went bad that they would replace it with a whole new unit at no cost to me. The new and improved unit has a Copeland scroll compressor which seems to be the industry standard. Well, guess what, 6 days out of warranty the second Bristol compressor goes out. It was dimming lights around the house a couple of months before it finally shorted out completely, but too late for me according to Carrier.

In 2008 we installed three Zoned Carrier Infinity 95% AFUE furnaces with 16 SEER Heat Pump Coils/Condensers in our home. There are two 3-Ton systems and one 4-ton system. Two of the systems have Infinity Air Filters and all three have Carrier Humidifiers. There are a total of 10 zones on the system. In the last two years, I have installed two 4 Ton Carrier Infinity Dual Stage Furnaces with 16 SEER Heat Pump Coils/Condensers where I work. All five systems have performed great. We have had no warranty issues or non-warranty issues. The systems cool and heat as expected. All were installed by the same highly reputable contractor. I highly recommend Carrier units.
