Performance 15

Find big savings on Carrier Heat Pump(s) at Appliances Helpers. Open Box and Floor Model Discounts Available on Major Brand Appliances! Low Prices.

The term "Performance 15 Heat Pump" typically refers to a specific model or series of heat pumps manufactured by Carrier, a well-known HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) company. It's important to note that specific details and features of the Performance 15 Heat Pump may vary, so it's always recommended to refer to the product specifications or consult with a professional HVAC technician or Carrier dealer for precise information. Here are some general points about heat pumps and the Performance 15 model:

Heat Pump Functionality: A heat pump is a type of HVAC system that can both heat and cool a living space. It extracts heat from the air or ground outside and transfers it indoors during the colder months for heating purposes. In the warmer months, it reverses the process to remove heat from indoors and expel it outside to provide cooling.

Efficiency: The "Performance 15" in the model name may refer to the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating, which measures the cooling efficiency of the heat pump. A higher SEER rating indicates greater efficiency, meaning the unit can provide more cooling output per unit of energy consumed.

Heating Efficiency: In addition to cooling efficiency, heat pumps are also rated for heating efficiency. This is typically measured by the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF). A higher HSPF rating signifies greater heating efficiency, indicating the heat pump can provide more heat output per unit of energy consumed.

Variable-Speed Compressor: Some heat pump models, including certain Performance 15 models, feature a variable-speed compressor. This compressor adjusts its speed and output based on the heating or cooling needs of the space. Variable-speed technology allows for more precise temperature control, improved energy efficiency, and reduced noise levels.

Comfort Features: The Performance 15 Heat Pump may include additional comfort features such as a two-stage operation, which allows the heat pump to run at a lower capacity when the demand is lower, providing more consistent temperatures and enhanced dehumidification.

Noise Reduction: Heat pumps, including the Performance 15 model, often incorporate noise-reducing technologies such as compressor sound blankets and advanced fan designs to minimize operational noise.

Additional Features: Depending on the specific model, the Performance 15 Heat Pump may offer other features like advanced diagnostic capabilities, compatibility with smart thermostats for increased control and energy savings, and corrosion-resistant components for durability.

Again, these details are general in nature, and the specific features and capabilities of the Performance 15 Heat Pump may vary based on the model and any updates made by Carrier since my knowledge cutoff in September 2021. For accurate and up-to-date information, it's best to refer to the product documentation, consult with a professional HVAC technician, or reach out to a Carrier dealer or representative.

I purchased a Carrier Infinity 2 ton heat pump on 08/16/2010. Two years and one month, it needed its motor replaced. That was done in September 2012 with me footing the labor. Now on February 12, 2013, the control board on the same unit needs to be replaced. This unit cools our bonus room upstairs and is set to cool at 80 and heat at 62, so it is not used a lot. Again, I have to pay labor to have it fixed. I am really upset to have a 2-year-old unit go bad. By the way, the heat strips set off my fire alarm after the initial install, the first time the heat pump came on. I paid lots of money for this unit and another 5 ton Infinity. I would be willing to join the class action since this is a lemon.

My home is a little over 5 years old and I have 2 Carrier split units. Low coolant and of course a leaking condenser. Carrier units are specific and do not use generic parts so a normal $300 condenser is $953. Carrier responded with, We are sorry. Your unit is out of warranty by 4 months. There is NOTHING we can do. No offer to get me a reduced price on a crappy piece of hardware they engineered and installed in their units. Had 3 HVAC specialists say the same thing... NEVER USE A CARRIER. They dont care crap about their customers and they ** you on the parts because you have NO CHOICE but to get it from them. Going to dump them ASAP.

I built a new home in 2007/2008. I researched and purchased what I was lead to believe was some of finest equipment in HVAC on the market. Boy was I mislead. It was much more pricey than the standard system I was originally quoted but since I was building the home myself for retirement, I wanted the best. The heat pump I purchased was a Bryant Evolution, two stage, variable speed, model # 286-ANA-048000-CBAA, serial # 2907E28649, a 4 ton/16 seer system. Sounds cool but what a piece of junk. The system was roughed in late October 2007 with final installation/operation in late August 2008 when I finished the home.First indication of a problem was a compressor failure the end of March 2009. I was told it was a fluke and the compressor was replaced under warranty. My HVAC system does not experience heavy use or extremes as far as heat and cold because I live in western Washington State where the climate is fairly moderate. In the winter, I burn a lot of wood and the summer we rarely use the A/C. That said, it should be fair to expect even a longer life from this higher end equipment. Not So! In January 2015, I experienced another compressor failure and this is where my true frustration begins. My dealer confirmed that it was in fact another compressor failure and said this had been a much greater problem than Carrier had wished to admit. It was apparently enough of a problem that Carrier was offering a pro-rated replacement program. So my options are: (1) replace the compressor again and take my chances, (2) buy a new replacement Carrier heat pump at a discounted price (approx: $2,000.00) and hope to get a better unit. I have absolutely no problem with the pro-rated idea since I did get some years of service from the original system. The problem is, even though I am technically paying for a new unit, Carrier does not even have enough faith in their own equipment to give me a new warranty. Even if I opt to buy the new replacement unit, they will only recognize the remainder of my original warranty. Is this ridiculous or what? If they were simply replacing my unit at no cost to me, because the original unit was crap, then I would have no beef at all with this ridiculous policy. But in essence, I am paying for the new unit both with more cash and the expectation that the original higher end system that I paid a premium price for would last far longer than it did. The last standard grade heat pump I had on my previous home lasted 18 years. So, whats wrong with this picture. When my dealer gave me these options and explained this warranty, I didnt believe it. So I called Carrier customer service. After talking with a representative and then a senior representative named Diane, I was told the dealer was correct and that was all Carrier was willing to do for me. I explained to Diane that this system had failed previously in 2009 but this made no difference. This was all Carrier was willing to offer even with their higher end systems. Very sad that even they dont have enough confidence in their equipment to give a person a new warranty on new equipment. Needless to say I will no longer be using or recommend Carrier equipment to anyone, EVER. This policy and the way they stand by their products and treat their customers is simply horrible. DONT BUY CARRIER !!!!! So now I will be paying another $5,000.00 to buy a Trane and my big investment just 7 years ago is gone. One last note about some of their higher end products. My neighbor and long-time friend built a home next to me a few months after I built mine. Never guess what my recommendation was to him on HVAC for his house. Yep you got it, same junk. While he did not experience a compressor failure early on like I did, he did experience other smaller issues. However, his system failed (compressor) in the spring of 2014. His system was approximately 1 year newer than mine so his pro-rated cost to replace in April 2014 was approx: $1,500.00 instead of the $2,000.00 I was asked to pay. Ok, so good for him. He got a new replacement system (for a 5-6 year old system) for $1,500.00, AND a NEW Warranty that started from the day his new system arrived. So I would say this was good business on Carriers part by essentially continuing his HVAC experience for a pro-rated amount and giving him a new warranty on a new product. Something must have happened between April 2014 and the end of the year (probably more failures), because as I said earlier, Carrier no longer has the faith in their equipment to give a new warranty on new products. In case I forgot to say this, DONT BUY CARRIER and tell all your family, friends, and co-workers.

Carrier’s customer service denied payment for all or part of the labor. The exact statement in the e-Mail from Mr. Lee ** was “Carrier only pays for excessive or expensive labor cost”. New Carrier Infinity Heater and central air system - Concerned product need
New Carrier Infinity Heater and central air system - Concerned product needs to be recalled since initial install issues have occurred. The outdoor unit needed to be sent back on install. Then the inside unit needed to be sent back a few weeks later. 1 Year later in 9-degree weather with no warning from the Infinity app the inside of the unit clogged and now needs replacing again. Carrier is not available on Sundays so if you need any replacement you need 2 days.I had a perfect functioning electric unit that was replaced for cost and energy reasons, I have thousands in now in back up portable a/cs and heating units since Ive lost faith. Its worrisome that the inside of the unit looks like it burned and if the house didnt drop 10 degrees while I was home we may have had more than 1 frozen pipe. Today I am going to try to get Polsinello to quickly get another one order since the service tech stated its not fixable after charging us 270.00. The install cost 10,000.

Im a homeowner and had two units installed in the two story house I completed in 2012. Its been 1 year and 3 months and Ive had 3 a/c outages. My upstairs unit (3-ton) has been out twice, most recently when the compressor blower motor stopped working. My latest problem is with the downstairs unit (2.5-ton) which needs a new evaporator unit. There is a leak in the copper coil which Im told is common. Most startling to me, however, was how corroded the entire evaporator unit appeared. I took a photo and posted here. The prevailing story I hear from the repair folks is that Carriers technology got way ahead of quality... in an effort to meet the rising efficiency requirements. The parts warranty is helpful, but the labor combined for all three repairs is now at $2000. Oh yeah, and I called Carrier (as a homeowner) to express my dissatisfaction. They towed the line on warranty terms and conditions and wouldnt transfer me to a Manager. Given my experience, I will never purchase Carrier equipment again.

The new high effiency furnace has pressure problems that carrier cannot figure out a repair for and the new lg compressors are failing right out of the box. This is after the highest cost unit they ever carried, the infinity, lost every Bristol compressor they had in them. What is going on with carrier? Why would they run a good company into the ground? I have no choice but to start selling trane. Carrier gets worse every year.

I worked in industrial HVAC for over 30 years. We purchased a home that had a 2012 Carrier air handler model # FX4DNF037 and Bryant Condenser. I replaced the condenser motor and cap on a unit that was placed into service 6/29/2012 on July 22/2017. After a storm blew through Sunday evening the evaporator fan blew up on start up. I called Carrier and it only has a 5 yr warranty, I was told sorry have a nice day. This is BS to have a unit 5 yrs old lose 2 motors. Not to mention the cost of the Xm evaporator motor is several hundred dollars. These new motors does not have cost savings the consumer is told they do. If a motor replacement is $400 @ 5yrs then you will never see a return on investment, energy savings. Total junk. I suggest people install a regular 1/2 hp motor with a fan relay at half the installation cost. Ive worked on hundreds of Carrier, Trane & York units from 1/2ton window units up to several thousand ton chillers. Ive even been to the Carrier training facility is Syracuse NY.As a Retired licensed stationary engr. we started noticing the lack of repairability in the 90s on all refrigeration and motor control units. Once the energy craze took off cooling units (all motors/controls etc) became electronic nightmares. The consumer is being fleeced as some contractors are charging 1000$ to replace a motor and capacitor, board whatever part they think might be bad because these units cant be properly diagnosed once a internal part goes bad. 5 yrs in and Im looking at just under a 1000$ in repairs for a 4000$ unit. All energy money savings is lost on repairs. I use to work on units that were 20-30 years old and were still operating with minimal repairs.

We are told we most likely have a small leak but that these leaks are very difficult to find. Almost $300 again this year. If I want to pay to have them find the leak and then flush the system and replace the coolant the cost will be another $1000. Sorry to say we are very disappointed with this expensive purchase with which we have no recourse.

We installed a Carrier ECO efficient heating and cooling system about 9 years ago, heating worked without any problem but the AC never worked properly. It stops around 81-82 degrees even if we set it to 76 or lower, especially for hot summer days when outside is over 90 degrees. We had Carrier dealers come to check and perform maintenance many times but no help. They said the a/c is fine but might be inside programming problem or controller problem which they cant fix and ask us to contact Carrier. Every time when we called Carrier, we were told to go to local dealers but local Carrier dealer asks us to go to Carrier. We are trying to find out if Carrier can have someone who can run a thorough diagnosis to figure out what is going on but dont know who we can approach. The a/c problem we noticed is a/c doesnt run enough time and stop (sometimes just 1 minutes) even it is far away from the temperature we set on controller (we set to 76, room temperature on controller is 84) then the a/c waits for a long time to restart then doesnt run enough time and stop again. Hope this helps us to get to the right place to fix the issue

Bought our Carrier Infinity unit and had it installed in 2009. We were told it was the Cadillac of HVAC systems. Last year one of our thermostats failed which cost $500 to repair, just a few months outside of the warranty. Now, were in the middle of August in 100 degree heat and the entire unit failed completely. We need to replace a compressor, a relay, 2 capacitors and get refrigerant recovery. Total cost: $3,750. Meanwhile our house is sweltering. Despite my frustration, I politely called customer service for advice and the advanced service agent was rude. Theres nothing we can do, youre outside of warranty, sorry. Buyer beware. My advice - if youre buying an AC unit, look into warranty and try to get more than five years.

We purchased two Carrier Infinity furnaces 6.5 years ago. Serial number 0711A033962 and 5110A03655. Cappy Heating and Air Conditioning installed them. We selected these because we believed they were the best furnaces. About five years into the life of the furnace one controller failed. Cappy replaced those. ($1000+). Now after 6.5 years the primary and secondary heat exchangers need to be replaced on both units! (My cost will be over $1,000.) We replace our air filters every 6 months so it wasnt poor airflow. It was poor workmanship. I expected Carrier to be a reputable caring company. Nope. They are covering part of the labor on the secondary but not the primary. Really! Where is the logic there? When I spoke to Diane in the Carriers claims department, she stuck with the policy. Might as well just talk to a robot. Conclusion, Carriers best furnace is of poor quality & controllers are poor quality. Nobodys perfect, however, I expected they would own up to it. Nope, support is poor quality too. Very disappointing.

I am not one to complain about anything but Carrier is off the charts bad as far as customer service and warranties. I will say that the actual customer service reps were polite and professional. I had zero issues with the way they treated me but the message was poor. I will try to keep this as short as possible. We purchased a 3.5 year old home last year. The previous owner almost never used the AC. He figured that they ran it maybe 3 weeks total in the 3 years they had the home. We purchased mid summer and ran it sparingly last year. This spring we had to have it charged and again 6 weeks later. Another month later it was out of refrigerant again. They came in with a sniffing tool and found a leak in the evaporator coil. We had $500 into service calls at this point. I was told that it was manufactured on Aug 19th, 2011. I called in Monday August 22nd, 2016 and was basically told that I was out of luck because the warranty ran out on Friday. The fact was that it was not installed until October 20th, 2011 but no one could produce the original receipt. The original owner, original builder, original HVAC installer and current HVAC company all offered to call in or write up letters detailing the issue but I was told an original receipt was my only option. I would not recommend or ever use Carrier again. The repair cost me $1400 to go along with $500 in service calls and time off work. Poor quality and VERY VERY poor customer service. I would have been happy if they would have just warrantied the unit. I completely understand that labor is not something anyone would cover.

We purchased our air conditioner in 2007 and have had problems 4 out of 5 seasons. Living in Michigan, we basically have only run our air conditioner for a little over a year now. The 1st year, a bad sensor had to be replaced; 2nd year ran okay; 3rd year, it ran constantly and hardly cooled down our home. At the beginning of the 4th year, it ran out of freon and was recharged, and last year it ran out of freon again. The installer found a pinhole in the coil and it had to be replaced. Our installer/servicer was very helpful and worked with us to help keep labor costs down but, Carrier should stand behind their product and cover all labor for warranty parts. I shouldnt have to pay labor charges on factory defective parts. Its very frustrating to have purchased a top-of-the-line unit, only to feel like we ended up with a lemon and have little recourse but to accept Carriers less than satisfactory limited warranty. I get the feeling Carrier couldnt care less about the little guy, once a sale is made. At least the car manufacturers cover labor and parts for warranty work. Type Of Product : Central Air Conditioner, Serial Number : **, Model Number : 24APA324A0030010, Installed Date : 05/17/2007.Update 5/3/12: Surprise, surprise, here it is the beginning of the warm weather season and we turned on the AC today and it isnt working. We will have to wait until I can get a servicer out to find out whats wrong now.

June-July 2014, removed and replaced failed compressor again in heat pump. Recovered old freon, pulled vacuum, charged to specs. Also removed and replaced starting components on compressor. Total bill $1745.00. February 2015, removed and replaced failed air handler circuit board and heat relays and boards to air handler. No longer under warranty. Total bill $1016.00. As a manager for a mechanical contractor it is very hard to look my customers in the face and tell them that the new heat pump we just installed doesnt work. This has happened 3 times in less than 90 days. One was short compressor mounting bolts from the factory and the refrigerant line broke during shipment. Carrier said it was a warranty issue. I say a factory defect! They wanted me to fix and not provide a replacement. Took a lot of my time 15 plus hours but they finally replaced. Today new unit had a bad transformer and would only heat. When switched to cool compressor would only run for 15 seconds and would shut off on high limit. Brand new unit needs a reversing valve.Again Carrier wants me to repair and not provide a replacement unit. Carrier corporate is useless in solving my issues as a contractor. I feel for the all the homeowners. Trane is 60 yards away from CARRIER GREAT LAKES, my local carrier distributor. I walked over to Trane and will be paying more for heat pumps and will have to pass on the cost to my customers, but at least they answer the phone without attitude and have handled all of our other problems with a smile. I purchased the Infinity 17 Unit in 2009 with, according to my contract with the dealer, has a 10 year warranty. Recently the compressor went out and upon trying to replace it, I was told the warranty was only good if the products were registered. They (Customer Relations at Corporate Office) stated that registration for the unit was not completed. It only shows the registration for the furnace which extends that warranty from 5 years to 10 but did not show the same for the compressor. Therefore they would not honor the warranty for the compressor. I told them there must be a mistake since why would only one part of the system be registered and not the complete unit. They refused to do anything to remedy the matter. So I am stuck with a bill of several thousand dollars to repair or replace the system. Also, I had to replace the coils three years ago. I purchased this higher priced unit because it is one of their top products and the warranty. I am very disappointed with the unit and with the company response.

Lakewood Furnace, Lakewood, Ohio & Carrier Greenspeed Heat Pump. Carrie
Lakewood Furnace, Lakewood, Ohio & Carrier Greenspeed Heat Pump. Carrier is Awful. Stay away. So bad, it’s criminal. Installed a very expensive top of the line Carrier heat pump - it was defective from day one. No air flow or humidity control. Carrier, as well as, the Authorized Carrier Dealer/Owner and techs could care less to help or troubleshoot in any way - they dont respond to emails or letters or calls. This is a very bad company. I have spent over 60 days so far trying to get this heat pump fixed. The dealer/owner is a walk away guy - wants to install pricey equipment and if anything goes wrong threatens you with lawsuit to pay. I have never, ever, experienced such a bad company and bad people. One tech said, You can call me 100 times but Im not gonna fix your heat pump. And just buy floor fans. That should work. Unreal - spare yourself this stress and use a reputable company. After calling, writing, emailing everyday for over 60 days, corporate Carrier has been of no help to me and the local dealer/installer is worse. Carrier only cares about sales and protects its rogue dealers - customers mean nothing. My home is being damaged everyday - no cooling, no heat, high humidity (mold) and no airflow or ventilation. 60 days of no action, I worry about when winter comes with no heat.

After 5 years my Payne heat pump unit is almost completely rusted away. Even though there is a 10-year warranty rust is not covered by them. Payne customer service said they couldnt help me but I could call their parent company who owns Payne, Carrier, and Bryant. Of course United Technologies ignored all attempts to contact them and obviously it is the protocol for these hvac manufactures to have someone call the corporate office because they know there will be no response. Bad product. Bad customer service.

After coming home from work on a hot, sunny, Friday afternoon, I noticed the inside of the house was MUCH hotter than what the thermostat was set for. After going outside and checking the heat pump, I noticed that the copper lines were frozen and the fan wasnt spinning. After calling the installation company, they said they wouldnt be able to be out there until Saturday afternoon (of course!). The repair technician came out Saturday around 3:00 pm and said that it was the motor and that Carrier knows these are bad motors, but they wont do anything about them until they break. They last roughly 2-2.5 years before they need replaced. I have already replaced at least 40 this year and thats just me.... I have three other partners!. Of course, he said that it wouldnt be able to be taken care of until Monday after he contacted Carrier. On Monday, he ordered the part and Tuesday around noon, he actually came and fixed it. If anyone knows what the weather is like in September in South Carolina, then you know that there were FOUR VERY UNCOMFORTABLE NIGHTS OF SLEEP (youre not getting much sleep when it is hot and humid... all a fan did was circulate the hot air). I wish that I had known about all these problems with Carrier before we built our house 2.5 years ago! I can assure you that from here on out, that for me, it will be hard to stop a Trane. I have asked two different technicians now, who they thought makes the best unit, and both unquestionably said Trane. Thanks to Carrier, I am now out $300 because of a known faulty motor (sorry to everyone else who has spent more money because I know that sounds like chump change, but I definitely would like spending that on something else). If any car manufacturer had known issues, they would put out a recall and fix the unit.... Why isnt Carrier doing the same? Unscrupulous is word that comes to mind...

Our Infinity series 25 heat pump was installed in 2006 and we had a 10-year parts and labor warranty included at that time. We have the system checked twice each year and things have worked well until recently. On our last bi-annual service call (January 24 this year), the outdoor temperature sender unit was determined to be bad and was replaced at no charge. Then three days ago, we received a system malfunction notice on our indoor thermostat so I called our service company and they were slammed, so we set up an appointment for today. The tech came out, spent an hour checking the system and determined the compressor is failing causing the thermal lockout conditions which were recurring on a regular basis (it is a Bristol compressor). He called their carrier supplier while he was here, went through the problems and trouble codes with them on the phone and then received the okay to replace the unit. There will be no charge to us due to the 10-year service agreement. I told him that I had read about the problems with the Bristol compressors and he said he was aware of the problems as well. He said they had a great supplier to work with and had some problems initially but no longer have them with respect to getting warranty replacements when they properly document the issues involved and the warranty is in effect. Apollo is our contractor here in Kennewick, Washington and theyve done a good job and have the right relationships with the manufacturer and vendors to get things done.

This unit was purchased 2/10/2015, 5 years parts warranty, Model 48ES-A2406030TP. This unit was problem child soon after install, kicking into lockout mode, igniter failing to light, AC part did fine was furnace part constant trouble, numerous service calls, exhaust inducer fail, high temp sensor fails. I quit using installer because failed again in less than 10 minutes after driving out the driveway, got ahold of another service company, they found high temp sensor bad kicking off furnace before satisfying thermostat, got that repaired, next thing started periodic igniter fail or repeated attempt to light kick into lock out mode again. This would not fail when service man present, told me to wait till completely fail, find problem them, month later total fail. The service company owner came out this time, found no electricity, the junction block for wiring some screws loose likely from defective assembly, yup assembled in Mexico, Once that got locked down, ignited immediately, inducer motor quieter, blower quieter, was lacking enough electric all along. Runs like should. Point is I am out hundreds of dollars on a unit under warranty, I have contacted United Technology to see if they will reimburse for defective assembly, that is not excluded under their warranty. Submitted claim today, will see what they do about this, I will follow up with the outcome of this when I hear from them, I had previous Carrier lasted 20 plus years, cracked exchanger at 20 was still running, Why I bought another, this one with new controls been a nightmare, the faulty assembly my opinion caused all the trouble all along.

I bought my heating and air conditioner on 7/18/16. On 6/24/18, the compressor stopped working and the tech found that the plug and compressor had melted. Although the compressor was covered, my bill was $734. The $4070 Carrier unit did not even work for two years. I think since it was Carriers fault their unit was at fault that they should have been responsible for the bill since the compressor has a warranty for ten years and didnt even last for two years. They should have at least been responsible for the freon that the unit lost because of their inferior product. I will never buy another Carrier product!

April 2008 installed high end Carrier dual (electrical/gas) system (furnace/heat pump/AC) system with Carrier Infinity Thermostat. The thermostat failed July 2013; replacement around $1100 (with maintenance plan discount). Gathered from technicians comments that problems with the Infinity device are not uncommon. For the cost of same, high quality should be expected. Perhaps unwise then for potentially purchasers to tie themselves into Carrier products that require such an expensive and fragile/poorly design controller.

We purchased a Carrier air conditioner and furnace through a dealer called Weather King 8 years ago. We thought Carrier was a quality company. The unit seemed to function well for a while. We live in Ohio and only use the air about 6-8 times a year, so we were surprised when the unit kept running and not cooling last fall. We contacted the dealer and paid $79 for a service call. We were told there was a loss of Freon and to schedule a visit in the spring. We did so, and were charged almost $500 more with no repair. We were told the coil was bad and told to contact Carrier. The Carrier rep was very curt and refused to help. She said that even though we registered the unit, the warranty was good for only 5 years. We have since learned from professionals that the defective Carrier coils are an industry wide problem and that a class action suit may be filed soon. We feel Carrier is deceptive in their practices and would advise readers to STOP BUYING CARRIER.

Im the same person who contributed the complaint below. I am obliged to state that in the end, three days later, Carrier authorized the complete replacement of the outdoor unit, which is worth several thousand dollars. However, Carrier is wiping their hands of it from this point forward. In other words, no warranty. I will also have to pay the labor and supply cost of over $900 and that is with the labor being significantly discounted by my HVAC company. I am very pleased that Carrier finally authorized this replacement. Hopefully, the new 4-ton Carrier Infinity heat pump will perform as well as the 2-ton Infinity heat pump that conditions the first floor of our house.

I paid a premium for my Carrier unit when I bought it. I contacted Carrier and they said it was out of warranty and basically its my hard luck. In 2003, I bought our house. The A/C works fine for a few years. Then after 5 years and 2 months, my A/C goes out. Carrier told me, ** you, your warranty is up. Can you believe this? Luckily, I was able to find that it was just a run capacitor, after shocking the **out of myself, as I am not a certified HVAC guy, but it was back up and running. Over the next few years, I noticed an extreme amount of rust water coming from the drain line. Now, the A/C is broke again, this time compressor is locked up. I spent $300 to have tech come out and tell me this. He also told me that Carrier has a ten year warranty on parts. Wrong again, I talked to a manager and they said 5 years. In 09, they went to ten after the new and improved coils and compressors. The funny thing is she told me that 5- 10 years is normal life expectancy. Are you kidding me? Im a flooring contractor and if I told that to my customers, I would never get any business. Needless to say, I have a 6.5 year old house with a HVAC system that is not working and Carrier reps believe this is okay. There needs to be a class action law suit against them.

In 2008, I purchased a major product which was a Carrier Bryant ClimateMast
In 2008, I purchased a major product which was a Carrier Bryant ClimateMaster GT-PX water source heat pump. I thought I purchased the best warranty and well-known product available with the cost of over $7000. After 18 months of operation, this unit started having problems. After a multitude of service calls to the dealer, it was determined that there was a water to freon leak. It was then classified as a catastrophic failure event. This happened during the middle of winter and we had to rely upon the back up heat system, which barely provided enough heat to keep but consumed a huge amount of power.Carrier required the dealer to cut the water coil unit and sent to Oklahoma to be analyzed. It was apparently determined the copper tubing had developed corrosion by contaminated loop fluid and their opinion was that it was not a manufacturing problem. I requested the coil system be returned so that I could have it analyzed by my own sources. I did not receive any response. I did, however, keep both intake and outtake ends of this coil system. There is no indication of any corrosion.Through many calls to dealer, distributor, and manufacturer (Carrier), the distributor finally agreed to replace the now destroyed heat pump, if I agreed to remedy the so-called water corrosion problem with a separate enclosed plate to plate loop heat exchanger, which I agreed to due out of desperation at the cost of $2600.The new water source heat pump provided by the distributor is a Carrier 50 YD model, installed on 04/22/11. Alas, this was not the end of the story. On 01/11/13 (20 months after installation), I had to have a service call to replace the freeze control sensor. One month later, Im still having problems. Another service call determined there was a freon leak at one of the solder connections which was repaired. I was wrong once again thinking, I had a good warranted Carrier product. As I understand it Carrier would not honor any of the repair costs which the dealer said he would absorb. Needless to say, Im stuck with this product. I really have no problems with the dealer or the distributor. It appears to me they took the brunt of the cost on this matter, which I feel should have been provided by the manufacturer. As you can see, this has been a long drawn process which the manufacturer has not taken any responsibility. This has created a lot of extra stress on my family and me. Obviously, I am not a happy customer and I feel that Carrier has given me, my dealer, and the distributor a lot of headaches and hassles. This is causing a lot of redundant time-consuming checks and rechecks and no warranty support. I will never recommend or purchase a Carrier product.

I had my Carrier Heat Pump installed when we added on to our home back in 2009. I was told by my HVAC installer that the unit I was buying was energy efficient and came with a 10 year warranty. Today I was told by the installer that my blower motor was out and that it was under warranty. Later I was told that the 10 year warranty I was sold was not valid because I did not register it online within 90 days of the installation. We were never told by the installer that we needed to do this to have the warranty. In fact the page of information that was torn from the book and had the serial numbers on it does not even have any statement regarding the need to register the product within 90 days in order to obtain the 10 year warranty. Not even hidden in the fine print. Carrier instead requires the installer to make sure that the buyer knows that they need to register online. Both my wife and I work and we are not even sure if either of us were home when this work was completed as we had contractors working at the house. I took this all the way up to a Senior Person at Carrier. I was told by them nothing they can do, take it up with the installer. They will not allow you to go back and register your product. If this company is as good as the other installers that have posted say, then I would think that Carrier itself would allow the consumer to register the product retroactively, especially when the homeowner was not aware of the requirement. Im not even saying they should pay for the immediate service, my installer will take care of that because that falls on him, but to screw the homeowner out of the rest of the warranty shows a definite lack of support for their products. What happens now if my installer goes out of business or sells his business to someone else? I agree with the others on this blog who have wrote no Carrier ever again. I have an older Trane unit in the upstairs that has not given me one problem. I guarantee when that needs to be replaced, it wont be with a Carrier!

I bought a new Carrier Performance model air conditioner in 7/09. 3 years later, supposedly the evaporator coil is possibly leaking refrigerant (410a) as the unit is barely cooling. The estimated cost to replace the coil (coil still under 5-year part warranty) for labor is $993 (includes the cost of 8lbs of Puron) and an additional $150-$400 to do a leak search. I am looking at approximately $1200+ for labor to repair. For a fairly expensive outlay for a piece of equipment and only lasting 3 years, this doesnt sit too well with me. After reading all the following complaints about Carrier and their evap coils, you wonder, where is their engineering on these coils? Possibly thicker copper tubing might help with the increase in operating pressures with Puron? Where is their quality control? Where is their concern for their customer base? If you keep making an inferior product (or is this planned obsolescence?), maybe Carrier needs to take lessons from Japan on making good products. My previous Payne A/C lasted approximately 35 years with only approximately 3 service calls. Needless to say, I am a very dissatisfied customer with this product. In fact, I am thinking on having this unit pulled out and buying another brand and take my loss as I have no confidence that another evap coil replacement will not fail in the future.

Like others, it seems that a few months right out of warranty something breaks. I installed a top of the line Infinity 96 5 years ago. Last week the furnace motor stops operating. My service company followed the repair instructions that suggests replacement of a main PC board and then a motor module. It turns out the main PC board did not need replacement and the motor module was defective - a couple of months outside warranty. Carrier wont accept the unused main PC board back once it was opened. At wholesale cost I was out $900 for the two parts. I would wish that Carrier would accept the PC board back for credit and replace the motor module under warranty. So far I have had no luck going up the chain at Carrier. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I had three Carrier units (top of the line) installed for our new home. Every year since, we have had numerous problems and service calls. Now, it has become unbearable. Last Friday, our air conditioning went out. It is now Tuesday and there has been no resolution or help from Carriers online or phone center. We replaced the air handling unit ($900) two weeks ago. Now, the compressor is bad in our main unit. We called the company that installed the units and they showed up and found that it was the compressor. When they submitted the information on the warranty, they found that Carrier knows that the units are bad and has a program to replace the compressor with a different brand. So, the guys filled out all of the paperwork (Bristol Program Audit Form) and run the diagnostic tests to prove to Carrier that it is the compressor. There was a long list of serial numbers and models included in this list (I call a recall list). Upon returning the information to the Columbia, SC representative to get authorization for the part, they are told that since they are now not a certified Carrier service center, that they are unable to do the repairs. So we have had to start the process all over again. The service technician seems baffled since they let him do one less than two weeks ago, with the same faulty product.Additionally, the service company is not sure that the new $900 air handler with be compatible with the new compressor, if we ever get one. The temperature inside of our home is 84 degrees and it is supposed to reach 100 degrees by Friday. Since I have three of these units, I am concerned about the future of the units and the failure of Carrier to be proactive in replacing the compressors that they know have been faulty. Again, calling the 1-800- CARRIER number just led me to someone telling me that it is my home and my problem to handle and that the problems with the compressors are very limited. However, it must not be very limited to have a written protocol for the diagnosis of the problems and the units affected.

Purchased a new Carrier HVAC for my home in 2007. It was properly installed by licensed technicians. Ive had 9 (nine) major service calls requiring replacement of major components in less than 7 years. Thankfully I was covered for many of the services by a Sears master service agreement. That said, Ive still had to come out of pocket for several service calls for things not covered by the plan (i.e. Puron refills... 11 lbs 2 days ago ($450)). Similar scenario last year... slightly less. Thats just the AC. However, the furnace has made up more than half of those 9 service calls during the period. I had experience with 3 Carrier high end systems. The first one failed (declared total loss) within 8 years after installation. It was replaced in 2010 by an other Carrier unit, along with a second unit for the other half of the house. Both new systems installed in 2010 were high efficiency systems with infinity thermostats, at a total cost of $15,000.00. Both of these units failed in the summer of 2014 with major repair bills - even though they had a 10 year warranty. The entire evaporator coil had to be replaced on the first unit at a cost of about $1000 in July 2014. The condenser fan motor failed on the second unit just today (Aug 29, 2014). The tech from central heating said that the motor is covered by warranty, but he must still charge me $60 for the visit and $200 for the labor to replace the motor. It is simply unacceptable to pay such high prices for top-of-the-line systems and get such poor reliability. I will never purchase another product from Carrier.

I waited on phone line (1-800-CARRIER) for 22 minutes. Then gave up and pressed “1” for call back. About 40 minutes later a young woman returned call. I explained that my local dealer told me that Carrier did not support Ecobee thermostats and I wanted to verify that information. She asked to put me brief hold. After a few minutes she returned to line and advised that I would need to contact Ecobee and she provided phone number. I asked if there was someone at Carrier I could speak with. She said no because they have “no technical support staff” in customer service.

Despite the inverter unit being sold to me as a cost saver, this is clearly not the case. The circuit boards are poor quality and do not last 5 years. Replacement boards cost the price of a new regular air conditioner. No-one advises you that you need to perform rust prevention, this prevention, that prevention when you have it installed, but when it goes wrong they are sure to let you know. I will never again waste my hard earned money on a Carrier aircon, nor an inverter unit. A regular, modern unit consumes roughly the same power as an average fridge/freezer. The cost to maintain an inverter unit is ridiculous.

In 2010 we had Carrier HVAC installed. Since then the motor in the heating unit has been replaced, under warranty. Our service technician told me that Carrier knew that it was faulty but would only replace the part when it failed. Now we have to have the AC coils replaced because they are leaking coolant. According to the service technician the copper tubing cannot keep up with the pressure so it needs to be replaced with aluminum. Unfortunately this part is past the 5 year warranty, by one year, and now we have to pay $1,070 to have it replaced. I would not recommend a Carrier HVAC system.

We have 2 Carrier AC units in our home. Installed brand new on new home in 2016 and there have been over $3,000 in labor and shipping costs to repair the units. They even charged us shipping for a replacement part that was dead on arrival and we had to pay shipping costs and labor costs again for the repairman to come out again with another part. That was a little over a month ago and now the same part needs replacing again!!! Never buy this brand ever again. They’re selling junk and then charge you shipping to replace parts under warranty but you’re stuck paying the labor. They must know they are selling defective parts and systems. Why would we have needed to replace the air handler parts 3 times in 3 years?

My June 2005 Carrier heat pump (50XZ036, packaged unit, 36KBTU or 3 tons) failed within the 1st year while parts and labor warranty was in effect. The evaporator/inside coil had to be replaced after more than one attempt by the original Carrier installer to simply recharge the leaked Puron (a trademark for R0410A, a type of Freon as for the old R22), and I hope for the best. The unit would quit cooling after several weeks of use. I heard on this site that 2005/6 evaporator failures are from using R22 evaporator coils, which are not designed to withstand Puron operating pressures. In 2009, when the parts-only warranty was in effect, the 2006 replaced evaporator coil failed, and I paid a second Carrier installer $450+ to replace the evaporator coil. The original installer wanted $900 in labor, of which Puron was ~$400. The 2nd installer had a lower Puron markup of x4 (~$25/#) versus x9 (~$50/#) for the 1st installer. Puron sells for $155 for 25 lbs. The 2nd installer in 2012 charges $35/# for Puron, R-414a.In 2010, the compressor failed to run for 20 hours; only the inside fan would run, and the failure corrected itself before the 2nd installer came to investigate the failure. The heat pump worked well in the next two years. In June 2012, I came back from vacation to a warm house (81F). The compressor was running all the time, and 72F air was coming out of the vent instead of ~58F. The evaporator coil leaked Puron, and it ices over. After 3 failed evaporator coils from the same cause of external tubing corrosion caused by the design of cooper tubing contacting aluminum fins, I can say that these non-moving and non-electronic components are a manufacturing defect.I am seeking that Carrier Corp. turn back the clock to 2006 and repair my evaporator coil for free for both parts and labor with the improved evaporator coil - something they should have done in the first repair in 2006. There is a Carrier October 2005 literature citing the option of getting a corrosion-resistant evaporator coil. This was never told to me in 2006 or in 2009. Why is there an option to a consumer to buy the $5000 heat pump with the poorly designed evaporator coil or the one with the improved tin version of evaporator coil? No one would buy the inferior product. The northern Alabama distributor mentioned that since 2010, Carrier will not install the inferior evaporator coils in the SE US. Just yesterday, this same distributor preferred to sell my 2nd installer the inferior evaporator coil while he had the improved tin evaporator coil. I asked him what his markup was in trying to sell these inferior evaporator coils. Oh, that is proprietary. After talking with the 2nd installer of my findings of the improved tin coil and the 2010 Carrier SE US directive, he called the distributor and found that the tin evaporator coil is available and cost less that the inferior one. If I do not get satisfaction from Carrier Corp., I am taking everybody to Small Claims Court.

I was a previous owner of a Carrier Gas Pack HVAC unit when in 2009 we decided to remodel our home. Since the HVAC system was 13 years old we decided to upgrade (??) to the Carrier Infinity Gas Pack. This system has been a nightmare. The 10 year warranty ran out because the registration did not get completed when in 90 days of purchase so that became 5 years. The original purchase of the unit was $6200.00 and since 2009 I have incurred over $4000.00 in parts and labor for circuit board, burners, induction motors and refrigerant. I now am told that I need another circuit board $1100.00 which is not under warranty and the unit is 9 years old. I am sorry that this company has a poor CSI but I will not purchase any more of their equipment. Unfortunately I really like the company that I use to service this piece of junk.

Well its that time of year again when the old AC unit that is only 5 years old fails. You would think spending 6K on a new name brand ac unit would last a few years at least. Once installed the unit lasted about 13 months and the coil leaked inside the house. A new one was installed and Puron re-added and all good, maybe a one off defect right? 4 years later same thing, now the HVAC guys all say its the fact they used copper and aluminum coils with high pressure Puron, a known failure waiting to happen. The new coil I have coming this week is all aluminum, and it covered under warranty still! But not the 2K plus cost for dyte, Puron, then replacement and yes more Puron! Calling Carrier is a joke, you get top level support that says I need to send an email to the review board. Buy some cheap Chinese AC unit. It will last longer or at least as long.

In October, 2020, National Heating & Air Conditioning installed a Carrier brand ductless heat pump/mini-split system in our home, including 1 heat pump, 3 heads, and 3 hand-held remote controls for $6,992.00. We were told it would offer us “zone control.” and to “set it and forget it.” Within a month of installation, the system was malfunctioning; all heads produced heat any time one head called for heat meaning, no zone control. After both the technician and Rick **, the “Comfort Consultant” from National confirmed the unit was not operating properly, they suggested we would need wall mounted thermostats installed to fix the problem. We wanted the system to work as we were told it would work, and the way the Owners Manual detailed it should work, with the remotes that came with the system. We opened a claim/complaint with Carrier believing they would stand behind their product and their advertising and get our system working as we were told it would work and as it was advertised to work. Rick and Len **, the Carrier Service Tech Mgr. began immediately began contradicting themselves by suddenly saying the system was working “exactly as it is engineered to work” while simultaneously saying the only solution to the “problem” was “wall-mounted thermostats” that they would “not charge us to ‘buy’ or have installed.” Len actually said if they did not find anything wrong with our system (this was AFTER it was confirmed it was not operating properly), I was not going to like to hear that the solution to the problem was going to be wall mounted thermostats. Please note: If there is no problem with the system, then why would the only solution be to install wall mounted thermostats to address the problem that had already been identified of no zone control? After 5 months of gas-lighting and giving us the runaround, we requested they “repair, replace or remove the defective system and refund us.” They chose the latter—and this was AFTER Rick gave us his word that he’d “do whatever it took to get the system working properly.” On the day of removal, they tried to have us sign a customer satisfaction guarantee that was not given to us on the day of installation that said if we were not 100% satisfied with the system, they would remove it. When we suggested they should have given us that agreement to sign the day of installation, we were met with more gaslighting, telling us the reason for that was because they were not doing paperwork during COVID. NOTE: They had no problem doing the paperwork on the day of installation for receipt of payment for the system, and giving us the owner’s manual that told us exactly how the system should work. We now have a DAIKIN brand ductless heat-pump with 1 heat pump, 3 heads, 3 hand-held remotes, flawless zone control, bypass heat that is redirected to the head calling for heat, and exceptional customer service from another local Heating & Air Conditioning provider, who has received the “Best of The Best” award several years in a row, for obvious reasons! Daikin offers a far superior warranty on BOTH parts AND labor—twelve years on both! Every extra penny we spent has been worth the difference to have a properly operating system and to have prompt response time to all forms of communication. Carrier spends a lot of money on advertising, but that does not mean their product is superior. I would not recommend it.

Carrier Comfort Series unit - Puron. We are extremely dissatisfied customers. $4,500 was spent on a brand new, energy efficient air conditioner. We were told from the sales man that this was the top of the line product and will save time and money. We had this new unit installed on Aug. 11, 2014 and when we went downstairs to check it on Sept. 6, 2014 because it wasnt dropping the temperature in the home sufficiently, we saw that there was water all surrounding the unit. In +30 degree weather we called the company to say we wanted it fixed and they couldnt send out a worker for a few days. When a worker came out he worked for 2 hours that night and 4 hours the next day, he spent this time cleaning up the mess that was left by the installers. He told us when he had done all that he was able to that the unit was defective and the company was aware of 20 other units that were defective this summer of the same model. Apparently the evaporator coil was faulty on it. Waiting for the sales man to call back. So far no call. Not happy.

I had 25 year old air conditioner that needed the usual minor repairs every few years, nothing major. My A/C bill was high so I decided to buy a new cost efficient A/C, against several technicians advice. I checked around and was told to by homeowners that Carrier was the one to buy. Theyve had theirs for 20 years without problems. I bought this one less than 2 years ago and have had service technicians out three times and the blower motor changed last year. This weekend it stopped working again and the technician said I needed a new compressor. Major repair. $1,200 cost. Called Carrier to complain and all they told me was that parts are free, but labor is not. The parts may be free, but the shipping is not! This is ridiculous! Less than 2 years old and Carrier is not doing anything about it. Back to homeowners that told me to buy a Carrier, they all bought them when they were made in America. Everyone who is having issues, I wager, their A/C was made in Mexico. Coincidence? I think not!

2017 AC Bad Condensor Coil after 1.5 years. Model 24abc636a300. $500 to find leak & add 3 pounds of Freon. $1500 to remove outside unit (take back to Carrier) & install new one. Several leaks on Cond. coils at welds & Baffle plate. Also they dont even install low pressure switches to protect the compressor. These are the notes from AC Tech: Found unit to have small leak in condenser coil. Appears to be in between header plate and coil making it difficult to bubble test. However video indicates a leak with electronic leak detector. Customer not interested in replacing coil under warranty at this time. Customer only wanted to charge unit. Leak will only worsen and refrigerant will leak out again and with no high or low pressure switches compressor damage could occur if unit continues to run with no refrigerant. Unit also has 45+5 mfd battery pack weak and customer declined replacing under warranty as well.

When my Trane heat pump finally expired after more than 20 years, I made the mistake of hiring a company, Bryant Heating and Cooling, which installs Carrier units. Within a year, the defrost board went out. After a few more years the compressor broke, Carrier replaced it under warranty, but Bryant wanted $1500 labor (about 2 hours work) to install it, but finally reduced the cost to $750. After installing the compressor, a valve in the heat exchange unit in the garage was found to be defective. A year later, the unit lost pressure, which was traced to a leaking canister next to the compressor (Im not sure what its called). The technician convinced Carrier to supply the part, but labor again was going to be $1500, but was reduced to $325. DONT EVER BUY A CARRIER! Purchased new Carrier Infinity series (Infinity Heat pump, Infinity air handler, Infinity Air purifier, Infinity control Thermostat, UV bulbs) through Sears in 2006. After the Carrier five year warranty expired: 1) Infinity Thermostat LCD failed $700; 2) Air purifier electrostatic element failed $800; 3) Circuit board on heat pump failed $700. Ok, the last one was due to a gecko crawling into the unit in cold weather and short circuiting the board. But then again, why did Carrier make such an open-to-the elements panel on the outside unit for sensitive electronics that would allow critters to crawl in? Dont forget the costs of the air purifier filter element - $100+ yearly (But you get a year’s service out of it still 8x more expensive than a regular Filtrete on sale at a big box store) and UV bulbs that Carrier says should be replaced yearly ($150 plus per bulb - 2 required). But the biggest shock: Last fall I wanted to clean the heat pump units outside coil and discovered that the aluminum fins on the Puron (Freon) coils have pretty much oxidized and are deteriorating (crumbling to dust) ON AN 8 YEAR OLD UNIT! Now I read that Carrier makes a Coastal heat pump that is more corrosion-resistant from salt air. Wonder why? I am ticked at having paid $10k new system + $2200 to-date in repair costs to Carrier to be an unpaid beta tester for their new technology. And the beta tester gift just keeps on taking. To Infinity and beyond are my estimated future repair costs on this system.

I had the unfortunate experience of replacing two furnaces this year. One was a 12-year old Bryant and the other was a 7-year old Carrier. In both cases, the heat exchanger failed prematurely. In both cases, the technicians informed me that this is a known issue to Carrier with furnaces built between 2000 and 2012. In fact, they have been sued for this exact problem. In both cases, the part was under warranty; however, Carrier does not cover the cost of labor. Labor is the most expensive part! They also replace the exchanger with the same exact part that is known to fail! The cost of the labor and the other impacted parts cost half as much as a new furnace. In both cases, the technicians, which I trust, suggested that I not put any more money into the old furnace. The CO levels were through the roof, so they refused to turn the furnace back on due to safety concerns. Of course, the most recent happened during 3-degree weather in Minnesota.I feel cheated by Carrier for leaving flawed furnaces in the market. I feel cheated by Carrier for only covering the part (heat exchanger) when labor alone for that item is $1300. I feel cheated by Carrier for conveniently only covering standard parts for 5 years when furnaces are expected to last 15 years. I feel cheated by Carrier/UTC because my new furnace had to either be a Bryant or Carrier brand because my house was frozen and I had no time to research other service providers and their offerings. No reason to call customer service with Carrier. They elevated the issue to Level 2 support, which then told me to email their Management Review Board. I sent that email 10 days ago with no response yet. I have to be one of their top customers this year after purchasing two furnaces and an AC. At least have some respect and send a response that you are reviewing the complaint!

I too have the 10 years parts & labor so a new compressor will be paid for, BUT the service tech calls me to his truck and pulls out this paper and tells me how this compressor is a huge piece of crap and there are thousands of issues with these things and his office will be in touch on spending ANOTHER $1500 or more to get another state of the art outside unit he named Green Speed... I am still waiting to hear back from my dealer. I totally understand with it being New Years Day having to wait a few days, but to spend over $5,000 in 2007 and be told, while still under warranty you need to spend $1,500 more for another outside unit is a joke...

We purchased a new Carrier Infinity 18 SEER HE system in April 2018 ($12,30
We purchased a new Carrier Infinity 18 SEER HE system in April 2018 ($12,300). The system was for the downstairs of a 3200 square foot home and installed in a crawlspace. At the time of installation, there had never been any moisture issues in the crawlspace for the 20 year life of the home, not with the original owners, not with two home inspections, and not with our experience with the previous HVAC system that had been in place for fifteen years, in fact the crawlspace had always been very dry. Once we installed the Carrier Infinity system, we began to notice problems with keeping the humidity levels in our home at a reasonable level, we were seeing 65-76 percent readings on a regular basis. We reached out to the Carrier dealer and they told us we needed to replace all of the ductwork underneath the house. We moved forward and did as was suggested ($4600) in August of 2019. A few weeks after the ductwork install, we switched to heat pump and thought the problem was resolved as humidity levels in the winter stayed around 45% inside the home during the winter when the heat pump was being used and there was no use of the AC. Fast forward to summer 2020. We started using the AC again in April and by July 2020 the beautiful hardwoods in our home began to buckle and we began to see incredible amounts of moisture building in our walls. Our light switches actually began to buckle from the moisture, and if you took one off the wall, the moisture was enough to drip onto the floor. We have pictures of all of this. Moisture readings were back to 68 to 78 percent and 83% in the crawlspace. Through word of mouth and social media, we found several other families who were experiencing the exact same issue in our county alone, their homes, walls, and floors also being slowly destroyed by intense moisture after installation of the Carrier Infinity 18 seer system. We were in contact with the Carrier dealer throughout. Unfortunately, the dealer had a massive fire that destroyed all of their records and they had to rebuild, so there are no records of our original install other than the paperwork we have. After their rebuild that delayed our interaction, the dealer came again to our home and rewired our system to use only two drive phases instead of the designed five. This did not bring the moisture levels down. We were told several times there was a moisture problem in our crawlspace and that was causing our issues. We worked with our homeowners insurance agent and he sent a home inspection/moisture specialist who determined there was no runoff or water issue in our crawlspace and suggested the problem may be the installation of the super efficient Carrier system in 2018. The dealer returned again in September 2020 and replaced the ductwork again, suggesting that the duct boots were not installed correctly in the first ductwork replacement in 2019.This also did not address the intense humidity issue, with readings in our crawlspace reaching 83% moisture in certain areas. Inside the home we could not maintain anything under 68% humidity. The dealer then brought a large dehumidifier in late October 2020 that has been running all winter. With the AC off, the basement has dried out with use of the heat pump and zero use of the AC all winter. We will be installing the optional integrated Carrier dehumidifier next and will see if that addresses the issue when we switch back to AC, somewhere in early April. After hearing from all the other families that have experienced the exact same intense humidity and moisture damage in their homes after installing the Carrier Infinity 18 seer system, we are not confident that we will see any difference. We are out almost $18K, we have a practically new HVAC system that is slowly destroying our home, we will need to replace all of our floors and subfloors, and we are praying that our wiring has not corroded. Carrier was called to one of the other families homes and told them what we were told, that they had a moisture problem and that it was not the system.Carrier KNOWS this is an issue, the dealers KNOW this is an issue, but Carrier refuses to address it. We are writing this review to bring awareness. Consumer BEWARE. Carrier NEEDS to address this and figure out whats causing this 18 seer 5 phase system to destroy certain homes. We hope this honest review keeps others aware of what can happen with a Carrier Infinity 18 seer system and keeps others from living the nightmare we have since the installation of this system.

I have a Carrier 24ANB624A003 condensing unit matched with a 59TN6080V 17-14 gas furnace and using the communicating thermostat. The contractor that installed it used best practise methods and materials when installing the unit. That included pulling a proper vacuum in the refrigerant pipe and installing a filter dryer before opening the valves on the condensing unit. Carriers condensing units are pre-charged with enough refrigerant gas for 25 of line set. The contractor has provided me with a ten-year comprehensive warranty conditional on my having them do the annual preventive maintenance. I have 36 years of experience (now retired) as a commercial heating and air conditioning contractor and I have designed and supervised the installation of thousands of systems and am a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers so I can speak with some authority on the subject. Carriers quality is as good as any other manufacturer. Problems with systems are more often that not poor installations and poorly trained technicians. If your contractor does not provide a ten-year comprehensive parts and labour warranty then choose one that does.

In June of 2010, I had my Carrier Infinity heat pump replaced. My old unit was crushed by ice. I went to use the AC at the start of the summer of 2011 and the AC was inoperative. The compressor failed in less than 1 year.Carrier paid for parts only and would not pay over $700 in labor or for freon charges. Almost worthless warranty. Pathetic company. I purchased 2 infinity systems for $22,000 6 years ago. It will never happen again.

This is a 29 year old unit that still works good by providing cool air when needed. It gets serviced about once a year at minimum cost so far, however my a/c man did say that it will need to be converted over to the newer coolant this coming year.

I purchased a new home in Sept. 2007 with a Carrier HVAC system. I made several complaints to the installation company during the first year about quality of the installation. Three trips and the company assured me they had corrected all items. In just under three years, cooling coils on both units of the two-unit system failed and had to be replaced. Replacement coils were furnished under warranty but the bill was $1500. I hired another company to do an analysis of system. Based on this inspection, I filed a formal complaint with state licensing bureau. Finally, about $4,000 worth of corrective action was performed at no charge. Corrections included the installation of an additional return air ducting that was not installed but was on original design.Well, now 3 years and 5 months later, the cooling coil on one unit has again failed leaking out all Puron over a weekend. Carrier will not provide replacement coil under warranty. Work is being completed today and Id guess the bill will be around $1500. So HVAC repairs of $3000+ in 6 years on new home has to be considered unacceptable quality.

Carrier Infinity heat pump residential - Similar problems as most others have listed. I purchased a top of the line Infinity System 3 1/2 years ago. The unit never cooled properly. Total Air Care was ignorant about the Puron system; they didnt know why it wasnt cooling. Ive had the TXV replaced twice. Ive had a motor capacitor replaced. Ive had the compressor relocated closer to the air handler. The last Carrier tech said I needed the evaporator coils replaced, $400 for labor. I installed a powered attic fan and had the attic re-insulated. Ive spent close to $2,500.00 on getting it to work properly. I still come home to a warm home. Ill never buy another Carrier - sounds like a little class action may be needed.

Carrier bought in 2006 has had over 18 service calls on heat pump. Never once fixed more than 3-4 months. Now has a coil leak in heat pump. $6640.00 quoted for new unit. $3700.00 quoted to replace coil. Never buy Carrier again. Carrier customer service could not care less. Out of warranty.

Had a carrier model 25HBC318A0030010 - Ser# 2013E14437 barely 7-months ago. Two weeks ago had the company come in for maintenance on the unit. One week later the system non-functional due to the X-13 Blower in the air handler, model FB4CNF018T00ABAA, ser# 2913A72942. As a businessman I understand things break down and that is life. But what I did not agree with is getting charged $120.00 in labor to install a motor that has not even passed its warranty date. The labor billed as recorded relative to the equipment serviced should be guaranteed for a period of one year from the date of the original invoice or install date. Service invoice **, Customer **.

We installed a Carrier Infinity 4-ton heat pump model 25HNA648A30020 in a new custom built home in 2007, opting for the top of the line, high efficiency unit, thinking that we would recoup our upgrade expenses in energy savings. Wrong! So far, we have had to replace a compressor, a coil, and a circuit board. All these parts were covered under Carrier warranty, but not the labor. All told, we have spent $3887 in labor and Freon (R410). We would have been better off going with the builder grade unit. Our HVAC system undergoes routine maintenance twice a year, so this is not due to a lack of proper routine service. We have done everything the HVAC company and Carrier recommended. At one point last year, two Carrier field service reps came to my house to evaluate our duct system, at the request of the owner of our HVAC company. The Carrier field service reps agreed to the recommended duct redesign. I was willing to do anything to correct the problems and make the frequent equipment failures stop. I saved all service records and have over 30 pages of them now. The same unit went out 2 days ago for the second time in the middle summer in hot, humid South Carolina. HVAC company has not been able to run a diagnostic yet because the compressor was too hot. To add insult to injury, we were told the warranty on the Bristol compressor replaced in April of this year would not even last for the balance of warranty on the HVAC unit. That signaled to me that Carrier expects it will fail again within the balance of the heat pump warranty and they dont want to pay for it.Given numerous similar complaints and universal lack of responsiveness on the part of Carrier customer service, it would seem that a class action suit might be in order. Too bad, Carrier prefers to let it get to that stage rather than faithfully standing behind their products. Doing the right thing might be expensive, but not nearly as expensive as it will be when attorneys get involved.

In less than three years of installing a new heat pump, we have had the upstairs computer board replaced, the outside capacitor unit and the upstairs blower motor. I have a case # given to me from Carrier for the concern of the unit. Of course, they say they havent had any complaints for these particular parts not lasting. According to all of the concerns I see from the reviews, I beg to differ. They have told me they will send a Carrier representative to us to have our unit evaluated if we have another problem as all things have been the inner electrical or computer parts. I have had no concern with our installer... just not happy with the product. I feel like spitting bullets.
