In 2006, I decided to upgrade a perfectly operating set of Maytag washer and dryer that I purchased in 1992. That included a set of Fisher & Paykel washer and dryer. These units have been a problem from the beginning. I have the top load dryer. It got to the point to where the dealer could no longer help me. They even gave me a replacement after 2 years of ongoing problems. Now, the replacement is malfunctioning. I hate to say it, but these units are junk. I bought them because of reputation. But I will never ever recommend anyone buying them.

I purchased a brand new F&P washer and dryer. We really do like them, and we have had no problems except the dryer tumbling issue which others have had. Last year in September, the dryer made loud grinding noises and then parts fell onto the laundry in the dryer. We replaced the parts and again the parts broke off onto the laundry in the dryer. I am checking to see if F&P will pay for these parts or if there is a consumer class action out there we can join. Can anyone give us information on this subject? Thank you!

Purchased a Fisher Paykel dryer in Feb 2013. Six months ago we started getting grease marks on our clothes. I contacted Fisher Paykel and after MANY calls (when they did return my calls), they concluded that I needed to turn the reversible drum off as that was causing issues on these units. I did so, and continued to have the same issues. After going back and forth, Fisher Paykel said there was nothing more they could do. They didnt even send out one of their techs to look at it. So, $700 later and using the dryer for 2 1/2 years, Im out! I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM FISHER PAYKEL AGAIN!! SHAME ON YOU!!

We just bought our house 2 weeks ago. It has 2 Fisher Paykel drawer type dishwashers. We have yet to get a load of clean dishes out of these machines. We rinse our dishes and then run the dishwasher at the end of the day so it is not like the dishes are sitting around for days. These machines look like they are new. The rest of the appliances are new.

Horrible, horrible machine. I purchased a washer in 2007. The diverter valve had to be replaced within one year. Next, the pump failed; water leaked everywhere and shorted out the computer. We waited several weeks for replacement part. That pump failed as well. Another new pump was replaced in March 2011, and now the machine is leaking again. The water is coming from the pump. We called F&P customer service, and after discussing our problems with F&P, we were shocked to learn that you cant use bleach in these machines. To me this seems like someone selling a lawn mower that cannot cut grass. I will never buy an F&P product again. Ive read F&Ps responses on this site, and their responses are wholly unsatisfactory. Sure machines will need maintenance and repair, but I think a machine is inherently defective when its cost of repairs exceeds the purchase price within a short period of time.

We would like to relay our experience with an FP oven which we have documented with copious notes and repair receipts. Our FP oven OS302SS was put in service in early 2008 and acted erratically from the get-go. We finally contacted customer service in August 2010 when the issues became worse. The same month, repeated repair efforts began, which ultimately resulted in ALL boards being exchanged because of power supply issues. Along the way, it became apparent that the repair companies were at best sub-par, even though during our numerous calls to FP we had been promised white glove service. Some of the repairmen had never seen an FP oven in their life and were consequently in the dark about how to approach this issue. It did not help that some essential parts of the oven were dropped on the floor by a repairman resulting in further repairs (to oven and floor). In late 2010, repair activity seized temporarily since the oven appeared to be working. In February of 2011, another bout of repairs started because the fan and oven light were only operating intermittently. In the course of multiple repair visits and repair efforts, the oven stopped working altogether for periods of time. After numerous phone calls to the FP tech line, the repair company was no longer confident that this oven could be repaired and concluded that it should be exchanged as a lemon. Unfortunately, one of the repairman also got into an argument with the FP tech line (in our presence) resulting in a less than favorable impression of the situation by FP. FP refused at this point to swap the oven unless another repair company would assess the situation again. FP also suggested the local supervisor would get in touch and review the situation.Reluctantly, we made an appointment with another repair company in a neighboring city (since we had been through with all the local ones) that had been suggested to us by FP, but the repairman never showed up. We were never contacted by the supervisor of FP and hence, we’re unable to present our case to him. Based on previous experience with repairs, my wife refused to contact yet another repair company. At this point, the oven still experienced power problems intermittently and also did not hold the correct temperature. We had, by then, purchased a portable countertop oven and we’re able to use it when the FP oven was in-operational. We also learned to adjust the temperature of the oven manually with the help of a digital thermometer disregarding the displayed temperature. In January 2013, less than two years from previous repairs and hence, technically, within the warranty period of these repairs, the oven seized to operate completely. We have since been without the wall oven. To call the experience with this oven a nightmare would be polite. Despite being used sparingly in a two-person household and not once having being used in the self-cleaning mode, the oven has NEVER worked reliably for any length of time. We have been without an oven more often than not and are now faced with purchasing a new oven. The primary problem appears to be that the service companies FP contracts for warranty repairs are utterly incompetent and have, in our opinion, contributed to the failure of the appliance. At some point, we, the customers, were therefore sufficiently worn out from the repair attempts that we essentially gave up and lived without the oven. We deeply regret having purchased a number of FP appliances over the years.

We purchased a refrigerator ( fisher & paykel ) when we remodeled our kitchen. After 3 years, the door alarm kept beeping after we closed the door. This would keep going until we opened the door and pushed the button inside. We called the company and tried everything they suggested, to no avail. We went online and found that many other consumers had the same problem. Finally, we asked for an authorized service company. They recommended KAM appliances. It cost 95 dollars to get them to come out and tell us that they needed a part to make the repair. When they returned, they told us that the part was defective and they would talk to F& P again. They came out a third time and then the refrigerator would not work at all. We were told that it could not be fixed. We called F & P and they told us we were out of warranty and offered us a pro rated price on a new refrigerator.

I purchased an FP washing machine in 2008. I was assured of the quality and low maintenance of this washer. Fortunately, I had the factory warranty and then the extended warranty and I have needed every bit of it. This washer is simply a piece of metal junk. I am so angry and dissatisfied with how FP, Lowes and A&E repair has dealt with this. I had it repaired at least 6 times under the FP warranty and when it was broken it was down for weeks. Parts took forever. Then on to Lowes and A&E. I have had nothing but trouble with the washer. Lowes will not replace my machine and FP refuses to do anything. I just had it repaired in April and it was out of service for a month then. Now it’s leaking water underneath - clearly the bearings are going out and again Im going to be without a washer. This is absolute garbage. Do not buy FP washers - not to mention that now the leaking washing has destroyed my Pergo kitchen floor. I’m very angry.

We had a double drawer dishwasher installed as part of our kitchen refurbishment last May. Within two months, the dishwasher would not drain. Contacted customer service - NOT - and after being on hold for a long time, I was finally told to contact a company called Millers Ltd. UK to arrange an engineer to come and fix the problem. This company sent out one of the rudest young men I have ever encountered and he left the dishwasher un-repaired, so we had to contact the kitchen company to make other arrangements, dishwasher fixed. In February 2015 the tines in the tray of the upper drawer broke. I went online to order a new tray and tines at a total cost of £73.40, I ordered what was in the photo on Fisher & Paykel website. The tray arrived without the tines. After several phone calls and mindless music, I finally managed to convince an assistant called Ula that if she checked her website, she would see what I thought I was ordering and therefore could she send me the tines. This she did and they all snapped while trying to fix them to the tray. We have since managed to do a DIY job on this tray. In March of this year, the upper drawer again would not drain, clean the dishes - so back onto Fisher Paykel and the awful music. Again given a number to contact to arrange an engineer to visit, told the assistant about our previous experience and asked that that company not be used again. A very helpful engineer arrived the next day and instantly knew the problem and replaced the rotor in the upper drawer, he had one on-hand as he had dealt with this problem several times. July, both drawers very noisy, not cleaning dishes and a red light and bleeping from the upper drawer. Contact Fisher & Paykel and again straight onto the awful music, finally get through to Hannah, who cannot find a contact number for my post code. Oops its my fault that she misheard my post code and was looking in the wrong area. I explain as best I can the problem and previous history, she tells me to contact the previous company I used in March. This I do to be informed that they no longer deal with Fisher & Paykel as their machines have multiple problems. Contact Fisher & Paykel and Hannah, again to be given a number which turns out to be Millers UK, a company I will never use or recommend. Try to contact Hannah again but am beaten by the awful music. Instead I am now getting an independent assessment of the machine and will be going back to the kitchen company that recommended the dishwasher and installed it, as to whether or not they will have to replace it with a better-quality machine.

In most ways, this range is just what we hoped it would be, but the noisy fan that blows oven-cooling air across the burners whenever the ovens are heated over 300 degrees leaves us dissatisfied with this range. We have an open kitchen/dining/living room and the fan noise makes us avoid using the ovens if we have guests or just want a quiet evening. The good points for this range are many, however. We love the griddle and use it almost daily. It has even heat and very sensitive temperature control. Likewise, the burners are very nice. The simmer is just wonderful, just warm enough to keep a sauce warm but not hot enough to burn. The high range heats water very fast cutting the time for heating pasta water or bringing canning water up to temperature. Cleanup of both the griddle and burners is easy with the sealed cooktop. The grates are heavy and secure. Its easy to slide heavy pots across the cooktop. We bought a two-oven model for big family gatherings, like holidays. It is so disappointing that they are so noisy. So, overall, we really can not say we are satisfied, although we feel that the range is well made and otherwise well-designed.

I purchased three F&P appliances in 2005 (double drawer dishwasher, a washer and dryer). All three of them have been a total waste of money, for each one has had problems which make them irreparable and problematic. When I purchased the F&K washer and dryer my main concern was the fact that both units were controlled by the electronic board. The salesman replied that this should be one of the significant advantages due to the fact that if something went wrong with the washer or dryer they simply send out a replacement electronic board for about $75. All I would have to do is unplug the old one and plug in the new one. How far from the truth that was. They never mentioned that the only repair service company was one person in the entire Houston, Texas market that ended up knowing less about the product than me. And besides, they charge you $75-$85 just to come out and diagnose the problem. After doing so with the washer, they said that it was the electronic board and they would have to order. When the board came in they replaced it. It still did not work and they said the entire motor would have to be replaced at a cost that far exceeded purchasing a new washer. Needless to say, I was smart enough to send the new F&K packing to my backyard graveyard only to replace it with the very old Maytag washer which I had taken out just due to its poor visual appeal. Boy have I learned. I would much rather have a dingy, slightly dented beige workhorse of a washer as in my Maytag, which is older than me, than this new updated F&P laughing stock of an appliance. Let me say if I was the F&P Marketing Director and I saw comments as numerous and detailed as the ones I saw on this site, I would set out to make things right with these customers. Secondly, my F&P dryer just all of a sudden stopped heating. So I decided to look at this website prior to calling the no-use of a repair service that F&P has accredited with the worthiness to repair its appliances. Well, I only wish that I had found this website prior to my purchasing these F&P products. What worthless pieces of useless technology. I think the woman early put the entire frustration into place when she said her mother used an old tub and ringer system and at least at the end of the day she was relaxed. I have to agree wholeheartedly. I think I am going back to washing in a tub and ringer and then putting them out to dry on the line if this is the best consumers can expect. Now I know why my mom only purchases Kenmore. She said they were totally reliable and that Sears always stands behind their product. Since having to do my laundry there now for the last year due to my unsuccessful purchase, I think I have to finally give in to my mom that said, I told you so!The last appliance (and thank God someone talked me out of the refrigerator or I would be writing in about 4 instead of 3 appliances) is the double drawer dishwasher. Now, how a service repairman can tell me that the reason the top drawer tends to stop after 20 minutes of washing and start beeping like it is off balance is due to operator error I do not understand. On top of which he said it can be attributed to the dishwashing detergent selected. Now, I am a Cascade man and that is the only detergent I have ever used since learning early on during my college years that nothing works better. And thank God because when the dishwasher finally makes it through the washing cycle at least I know they will be sparkly! Not necessarily clean because this dishwasher has to be the worst at cleaning dishes. I installed a cheap GE Dishwasher in my butler’s pantry, which I now find myself hauling dishes from the Kitchen to the butler’s pantry to avoid using the F&P because the cheap GE washes faster, better and quicker than the F&P ever did or would ever be able to do in the future. It seems that after starting the dishwasher, which was installed in a newly renovated 100-year old historic house that is on pier and beam, it seems to stop and start beeping each time you walk into the kitchen during its cycle. It starts immediately and begins washing again after opening and shutting the drawer and hitting. I mean, I waste more time opening and closing the drawer to ensure that my dishes are clean than I would if I simply washed them by hand. So from my experiences, that is enough. Being taught from a young age that three strikes equal an out, F&K that was the last pitch and you are out!

I purchased a FP washer & dryer in 2008 with good recommendations. What a disappointment! Noisy, noisy, noisy. Im embarrassed when we have company and they ask, Whats that noise? I am embarrassed to say its brand name. This is supposed to be a good washer and dryer. The washer is off balance with every load of sheets I wash and plenty of other loads. What an inconvenience to constantly try to re-balance the loads. Also, the design of the dispensers is awful. I have to take them apart and clean them because disgusting black stuff is lurking under the covers. The dryer takes so long to dry. The lint bucket is emptied after each load but about monthly, my husband has to take the lint filter assembly apart to clean the internal parts or the sensor gets covered and the dryer works even longer.Ive been using automatic washers and dryers for 42 years and have never been more dissatisfied. I will never recommend FP to anyone, in fact, my recommendation for an FP product would be to stay away!

My first F&P dryer worked fine for a year and then continually tripped thermal switches. One actually has to remove a panel to reset this as it is not accessible from the outside of the dryer. F&P finally replaced this (well, I got a new dryer for the privilege of paying them $250 for the prorated use of the old dryer). I also spent another $250 re-venting the dryer because they were concerned that the venting that worked fine for my 25 year old Maytag was insufficient for their unit. Dryer #2 developed a bearing squeak--quiet at first but now is extremely loud. The tech from the company that sold me the dryer claims the bolt is frozen and the bearing cannot be replaced or at least cannot be replaced for a service call cheaper than half the price of actually replacing the dryer. Meanwhile, THAT store has ceased selling the product and no longer will work on F&P machines. The tech recommended by F&P after this told me the same thing and recommended that I save my money and buy Samsung.

We bought a dual drawer Fisher & Paykel dishwasher in 2009 for a house that we were building. Due to problems with the builder, the dishwasher sat unpacked in a garage for a year. When it was finally installed, it didnt work! First, the bottom drawer didnt drain. We called a plumber to come look at it. He called the Fisher & Paykel appliance rep. They recommended that we install two separate drain lines. It still didnt drain. The appliance guy and plumber each came out again and we even tried a different plumber. Now the bottom drawer drains but the top one doesnt, which completely defeats the purpose of having a dual drawer dishwasher. We contacted Fisher and Paykel and Lowes where we purchased the appliance and neither would offer any assistance as the warranty had expired. We have only used the machine 20 times. Its such a shame and waste. Our KitchenAid dual drawer dishwasher at our old home worked much better with no problems. We had bought this one because we were told it was quieter. There’s a lot of plastic stuff in it and I have a feeling it’s going to break. It’s not made as strong as an ordinary dishwasher is. I bought a brand new FP washer and dryer the end of 2006. I paid approximately $1,000.00 each for them, because the salesperson assured me what a wonderful company FP is and how wonderful their products are. Well, what a waste of my hard earned money. I have had the washer fixed 3 times and the pump just went out of it again. I am awaiting the repairman to return with the part to fix it. In the meantime, I am spending at least $40.00 a week at the laundromat. I have had the dryer fixed twice. The last time, it put little holes in my clothes so I lost a ton of money in ruined clothing. I am lucky that there is a repairman in our area who knows what hes doing. However, it is always at least 3 weeks until the repair is completed. First, he has to come out to see whats wrong; then order the part; then come back out to repair it. Now when you figure it out, I am spending at least $120.00 at the laundromat, plus I have the cost of the repairs. This time the repairs will be at least $200.00. During the Christmas season, both Lowes and Home Depot had a washer/dryer pair for around $400.00. Considering the amount of money I already have invested in FP washer/dryer, the extravagant purchase price, the amount of money I have invested for repairs to both units, the amount of money I have invested in the laundromat and the continuous inconvenience, I would be farther ahead to buy a cheap set and replace them every two years. Now I will say that FP reimbursed a portion of the first repair; however, when I advised them of the second repair, they basically said that appliances dont last forever.I cant say that forever is 3 or 4 years. Considering the price of FP, I would expect them to last at least 10 years. I am very disappointed in the FP brand and have to say that I will not consider purchasing that brand again. I have just spent the past hour reading the reviews on this website and it seems to me that FP just produces an inferior product. FP should take action to compensate people and not just tell them that they are sorry to hear of their problems or that their concerns have been forwarded to a senior representative.

My wife loves them both, and we have been trouble-free until last evening when the washer would not start and a continuous clicking noise was heard. I found the clicking was caused by the door lock solenoid valve operating, but not holding the locking pin in as it repeatedly energized and then de-energized the solenoid. The door lock light blinked in time with the solenoid. I suspect control board problems, but it is Saturday and I cant get any help. Does anyone know of this problems solution?

I bought three Fisher & Paykel dish drawers for my new kitchen and extended the warranty for 5 years. Throughout the 5 years, 2 of the dishwashers worked perfectly. One we constantly had problems with. Authorized service came out a number of times and said that our dishwasher issues came from these little tiny bugs on our circuit board. Our house has no bugs. Interestingly, I was talking to my friend who loved my dishwasher and when she remodeled her house, she bought two single drawer dishwashers. I was surprised to find that she has one that operates perfectly. The other is plagued with these little bugs and shes disgusted. She also has no bugs in her home either. Now, we are both thinking that this is something that probably came from the warehouse where these were stored. I now have to replace the dishwasher after about 6 years. I’m very, very dissatisfied.

Very disappointed in the top load dryer. My in-laws moved in with their dryer. This dryer has had service repairs two times in the first year they owned it. Now we are using it as well and the one-year warranty is up. They told us that the last time a service man came out, he showed them where the reset switch is. Apparently, every so often, the heat stops working, and the reset switch has to be reset. So it has been two months now, and I have had to reset the switch three times. This is just a ridiculously faulty product, and Im truly concerned; there is a fire hazard with some sort of electrical issue with this dryer. I am getting rid of it ASAP and going back to Maytag, which I might add, I had a Maytag washer for 10 years and a Maytag dryer for 15 years and never once had a repair to them. Now that is true quality.

The Fisher & Paykel washing machine doesnt work well. I bought it Dec. 29th. It makes a loud noise. The first guy that came to my house said he had to contact his supervisor and I never heard from him again. After 10 days I called and they send me another guy. He came last week and he ordered a part. He thinks its my rotor. So I have to wait for the piece and he will come back. I was not happy with the first repair guy but now Im confident that the second one is going to repair it. He told me not to worry about it. I hope hell be able to repair it.

The Ecosmart FP Washer was recommended by a designer friend of mine who loved these washers and said she had recommended this to several of her clients. It had a belt driven motor, was low maintenance and easy to repair. So I bought mine in 10/2009. It has worked great for 3 years and btw just last week, I recommended it to a friend because I loved it so much! Anyway, a few days ago I noticed a leak had developed so I had the repairman come out. He said it needed a new part called an Electronic Pump Assembly or a Kit Repair and Fuse at the price of $343.45 with labor at $220 and tax at $29.96 totaling $592.41 (oh, and service fee of $49.95 just to tell me this). What?! I said, That is almost the price of a new washer? He said, Yes, I see this pump go out a lot on these washers but the new part has been improved and should last about 10 years. But darn it, I shouldnt have to pay the cost of a new machine just to get that defective part replaced. I am so disappointed and frustrated because I actually like this unit. Im not sure if I want to risk purchasing another FP Washer (what if it still has that defective part?). It only lasted 3 years!

I purchased my DCS in 2004. Over the years I had to replace several parts - okay, I accept that high cost of owning a commercials style appliance. February 2019: I began to notice an issue with the oven sensor. I called my service rep who immediately came to check. He indicated that I should get a new oven sensor - if the part is available. Hmmm... Two days later the tech informed me that they were not able to get the part, that I could try to call Fisher Paykel direct. After much hold time I was informed by Fisher Paykel that parts are no longer available for my model. I was politely told that the law only requires them to keep parts for 7 years and after that they have no obligation to do so. The most insulting response, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Inconvenience? This is not an inconvenience! This is a high end appliance rendered useless for want of a sensor or workaround with a substitute part. DONT buy Fisher Paykel, its not poor customer support you will receive, it is NO customer support you will get.

Our experience was extraordinarily good. I was impressed. The equipment is nice, the design is nice. I’m an engineer so I say this. But the brand name on the outside is DCS. We bought the six-burner gas oven, too. And we just bought a new oven for our rental property. There’s only a couple of companies in the world that I’d recommend for appliances at all, and Fisher & Paykel is one of them. The service and the people that sold them to us in all cases, we bought several, were first class. The people were knowledgeable, thorough, responsive, and the stuff arrived on time. The pricing was very competitive and the quality of the devices is, from a mechanical perspective and electronic perspective, excellent. And in terms of its user friendliness to my wife who uses them most of the time, the biggest problem with the dishwasher is you can’t hear it. The wonderful thing about the six-burner stove is it has a simmer control and most stoves don’t have that. I was a professional chef and so I know the Viking and Garland brands pretty well. And the DCS stove comes as close to a Garland as you’re going to get at a very good price. And that’s very important to know because people don’t understand. Most people aren’t chefs. So the stuff has been super. I’ve been very pleased. Keep up the good work because remember, the two most important things in the world are that they should work but the customer service has to be first class and it always has been. My wife’s very best friend is building a new house and we recommended all of Fisher & Paykel stuff to her yesterday.

We bought a washer and dryer and in December 2014. We paid a total of $2132.86 for the Fisher Paykel brand. The dryer broke within one month, it needs a new blower which will take 5 1/2 weeks for the part to come in. Very disappointed and frustrated with this expensive appliance and the service is very difficult to get. Actually, the line I strung up in my basement has been drying my clothes perfectly!

I have a washer and dryer set that I have had for a few years. It has not been anything but trouble since I have had them. The washer has been worked on twice and once the repairman left off a hose and water filled my floor and messed up some of my flooring. Then the dryer had been worked on two or three times and right now it sounds like the whole drum is about to come out. I am tired of having to call a repairman to take care of problems. I tried to tell the people that I bought it from that I thought it was a lemon from the get go, because I had not had it maybe 1 month when it had to be worked on the first time. I would not recommend anyone to buy your products, because I have been very disappointed with your products. I still say that I have a lemon and that I should have been given another one in the beginning. That is what happens when you buy a lemon automobile. Appliances cost too much these days to have to keep having them repaired, because the average person nowadays have been cut back in their pay checks and are not able to afford repair bills.

Fisher Paykel Intuitive Dryer - We purchased a new Fisher Paykel washer and
Fisher Paykel Intuitive Dryer - We purchased a new Fisher Paykel washer and dryer three years ago which was installed in our new home on an interior wall with a straight shot through the roof exhaust pipe. After only four months of using the new dryer, the exhaust pipe became stopped-up with a considerable amount of lint. The exhaust cap on the roof had to be removed to allow access for removal of the lint from the exhaust pipe. This process had to be repeated about every 4 to 5 months since. Since the dryer lint basket very seldom collected lint and had to be emptied, four weeks ago we had the service technician out who determined the lint screen had been torn in numerous areas. Since the lint screen is within an enclosed area, he advised there must be some defect in the dryer lint basket which was cutting the screen. Over a period of time if left unchecked, this could have become a fire hazard. Is there something that can be done to prevent this from happening again? If so, please advise.

I had just purchased a brand new F&P dish drawer from a local PC Richards store. No less than 3 days, I needed to call for service. I spent quite a bit of money on this unit and was excited to finally be able to experience all of the features this dish drawer had to offer the consumer. Its so sad to say that I was let down by the company. When I called F&P Customer Service line, I had to wait on hold for almost 30 minutes to finally talk to someone. They seemed like it was all my fault which made me even more angrier. Nevertheless, PC Service came and it still is not working 100%. I will probably try and return it and go with a better known brand. I wouldnt recommend this brand to anyone looking for reliable dishwasher.

Interestingly, the issue I have with the Fisher Paykel washer and dryer is
Interestingly, the issue I have with the Fisher Paykel washer and dryer is not with getting the appliances serviced. I am fortunate to have a local repair service company that is responsive, trained on these appliances, and does quality work. From the posts I have read, this does not appear to occur often. My issue is with the reliability and quality of the Fisher Paykel products themselves. The washer is model GWL11W and the repair occurred about 12 months ago. As many others have posted, the water pump went out, dripped onto wiring for the computer panel, which in turn caused the computer panel to fail. I was told that this was because of a design flaw and the repair kit incorporated a design change that would prevent the computer panel from shorting out if the water pump should ever go out again. The parts and labor for the repair cost over $400, but given the cost of replacing a high efficiency washer, I decided to go ahead and get it fixed. Granted, the washer was 5 years old at the time, but really, a washer should last longer than 5 years. Now the dryer, model DE08US, needs to be repaired. The timer will not advance in the automatic settings. The sensor bars and sensor board needed to be replaced. This repair, with parts and labor, will come to $387. I have already spent $188 on the prior service call to have the problem diagnosed and have the dryer disassembled, cleaned, and two glides replaced. Given the cost of new dryers, I cannot justify spending what would come to $575 to repair this dryer. The dryer is 6 years old but again a dryer should not cost $575 in parts and labor to maintain within the first 6 years of ownership. At the moment, the dryer is still drying and the timer is still advancing in the timed setting, so I will use it until it stops. Of course, the dryer has now started making an annoying squealing sound, so it will likely stop sooner than later. I should mention that washer and dryer get light usage, 2-4 loads a week, and the loads of laundry are not large or bulky. Even the repair technician commented that both the washer and dryer are well maintained. Yet my Fisher Paykel washer has already cost me hundreds of dollars in parts and repair. If I was willing to invest in repairing the dryer, the same could be said about that appliance. However, that is not going to happen. It was a mistake to spend my hard-earned money on Fisher Paykel appliances and I do not intend to throw good money after bad. When it is time to purchase a new dryer or washer (or any other appliance for that matter), the brand will not be Fisher Paykel. The quality and reliability are disappointing and I wont get fooled again.

This is the second FP washer owned but this time, we bought the new high efficiency one! Clothes often come out with black, greasy, soapy streaks on them, sometimes permanent staining. We use the recommended HE detergent and barely reach line 1 on the cap (any more causes loads of foam and machine to complain). Agren Appliances, from whom we bought the machine, sent out a technician to take a look but no remedy found. We have taken the damaged clothing to them and shown them what happens. They kindly gave us some powder detergent but the FP booklet recommends HE liquid detergent only. On calling FP customer service, we were told we were probably using too much detergent. Ha, if we use any less, we wonder whether our clothes will actually be cleaned! So what do we do? This machine is less than 1 year old and its a disaster. There is no support from the store we bought it from (despite having taken out extra service warranty) and FP doesnt want to help either. Surely, a machine cannot be HE if after washing it leaves clothes with dark streaks on them, hence needing a second wash! I dont see the efficiency in that! There seems to be little option other than to take it to the scrap heap and buy a new machine, different brand naturally. Hunk of junk, never to be recommended to anyone.

We bought a first generation Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher when we had our condo built back in 2000. We replaced it with a new Fisher & Paykel unit since the one that we had had a lot of quirk things about it and they were becoming too much of a challenge for us to deal with. We chose this model because my husband and I are empty nesters and we liked the idea of having a smaller dishwasher to fill and run rather than having to put every dish we own over a course of two weeks into a single regular size dishwasher. Our favorite feature is its two drawers. One of them is a deeper drawer that can easily handle big plates and platters. Its very quiet. It is water efficient. Its very attractive to look at. Theres nothing about the dishwasher that to me represents either a negative or settling for something. Its just absolutely perfect for us in every way. We are extremely happy with the product.

I had a Fisher & Paykel drawer dishwasher, and when we upgraded our kitchen the theme was steel. We just went with the same brand because we really liked it. I liked the style and the refrigerator seemed to have the most room inside it for a counter-depth refrigerator. I had a counter-depth fridge before and you couldnt get anything in it. It was ridiculous. This one just seems to have a lot more room because the water and stuff are not bulky in the door unlike other refrigerators. The Fisher appliances are nice, with clean lines. We dont need all the bells and whistles. I just want things with space that are clean and seem to work really well. I love the gas range. It seems to have lots of space inside the oven. Lucky for us because when he looked at the oven, he noticed flames on the inside of the inner cover shooting out. He ran downstairs and turned off the breaker and I threw baking soda on them. After the oven cooled, he took off the back plate and the heating element was cracked and melted. The last ones I had were the Whirlpool front loaders. I didn’t like them. I’ll never buy a front loader again. We bought from a little appliance store here in Benton. At first, we bought a Speed Queen and it pumped up the water so fast that my pipes wouldn’t take it and it flooded my laundry room every time I would wash. So I called them back and they said they had one that the pump didn’t pump that hard. And we went and traded. They were brand new. I had it about four days and got these which I love. They work great! The experience with Fisher & Paykel went real well. I love it and have already recommended it. My daughter wants one. She likes the fact that the tub is all sealed up in there. Her husband is in construction and he forgets to get nails and things out of his pockets and it just messes all up down underneath hers. But this one is all sealed so nothing can get down underneath there.

I bought a Fisher and Paykel Eco-Smart wash machine May 2007. I paid $744.35 for the washer and I also bought an extended warranty. However, over the years I lost my receipt and of course no one could find where I paid for the extended warranty. I began having problems with the washer within a year. First several times, no problem. However the sixth year, this year in March, I was told that my washer was no longer under warranty and there was no extended contract on file. The reason I bought the extended contract was because the washer was already covered for 5 years and 2 extra years was very appealing given my previous experience with wash machines.I have been a home owner for 30 years and that was my 3rd wash machine. I have never paid that much money for a wash machine and had I known it was no better than any of the other (used) included, I would not have invested so much. My F&P washing machine kept getting stuck and not draining. I had a repair come out and $380 fixed it. Six months later, same thing with machine not draining. I took to the internet and found out that the drain pump was likely plugged. I was able to fix it myself, which wasnt easy, turning machine on its side, pulling out the coin that was clogging the pump, etc. This happened four more times, me fixing it each time. Then the last time, there was nothing clogging it. Repairman said $400 to fix. I said, Forget you, and tossed the machine. Now I have an LG which I love. My F&P dryer is now squeaking and making a horrible noise. Its less than five years old. I refuse to put any more money into these pieces of junk, so unless me replacing the bearing myself works, it will also be joining the washer in appliance heaven (oops, maybe hell). I purchased a Fisher and Paykel fridge model e52213. We had issues with the ice machine not working and then the water dispenser stopped working shortly after buying the fridge. The fridge technician could not isolate the problem. We had ongoing problems with ice temperature and back light display. I sourced the issue with the fridge myself due to the smell of burning wires in the top of the door. I noticed that the wire has no second insulation and that the action of the door could wear or cut by crimping in this area.Three of the wires on our unit have been cut and the other wires are bare. I feel this could be the cause of problems for a lot of other people with this model fridge with ongoing beeping and flashing lights and no temp control. Our fridge is just out of warranty but if the wires had not rubbed or crimped, our fridge would still be operating. I feel this is a design hazard rather than a warranty issue. Our fridge is a right to left opening model. I am not sure if this would make a difference. Looking forward to your response.

Or as much as a mid range Whirlpool. It malfunctioned within 2 years. Local service tech got Fisher Paykel Tech support on the phone. Diagnosed as bad hot plate. Spent $200.00 to put new on in.Didnt fix problem. Further inspection showed it was a burned main circuit board. And now a burned wiring harness. I spoke to customer care about my issues. The filters are $50. I find that to be highway robbery. Its absurd to buy a refrigerator and then have to buy new water filters every 6 months. Theres no doubt you could make a filter that lasts longer than that and thats less expensive. I would venture to guess the profit margin on the filter is greater than on the refrigerator. Other than that, my experience has been great. I just feel taken advantage of with respect to the filter.

For 3 months I have been trying to buy a replacement water filter for my fisher & paykel fridge freezer - on line it tells me they are out of stock and to phone. On the phone I get confirmation that they are out of stock and given no confirmed date of availability. I am told to order and I will be emailed when they arrive - but remember they cannot tell me when that will be. Today I have ordered 2 at the whopping cost of £98 but have been warned that there are many orders ahead of mine as there is a huge demand for them and so I will have to wait my turn. The filter is an integral part of the function of my particular machine - so why is it impossible to pick up the phone or go online and order a filter and get one immediately? How hard can it be to stock enough to meet demand? We are talking about a simple water filter here - nothing more but for reasons best known to themselves - they will not maintain a sufficient quantity for its customers. Do I smell a rat here? Is there an agenda I wonder? Hundreds of customers are having to pay in advance for their expensive water filters to ensure that they receive them in the designated time stipulated by Fisher & Paykel. Frankly had I known I would not have bought from this company and certainly will not again.

We purchased F&P fridge and stove in November 2009 and have been having issues with both since the very beginning (which is not surprising, judging from this site). The purpose of this review is to give our feedback regarding the service weve been getting from local authorized dealers and support they get from the company. No matter what, do not buy any products from Fisher & Paykel! Trying to get their appliances fixed is even more frustrating than finding out that your appliance broke down after only a few months of service. Prepare to wait for weeks and dont be surprised if the problem reoccurs within days or hours of the fix. Then, wait a few more weeks. There is no urgency, no ownership, no pride. I dont believe the company cares. Did you read their responses to customer complaints? They sound like a broken record. At this point, we are seriously considering throwing both fridge and stove out and buy something else. It cant be worse, can it? What a waste of money.

FP washing machine is a piece of crap! Only had the machine for approximately 18 months when it started to leak water from the bottom. I tried to contact the company to complain but mysteriously, I was disconnected three times! My husband and I are trying to put two kids through college and honestly, we cant even afford to have a repairman come out to look at it when its $85.00 just for the service call. I am so angry and will never ever purchase a FP product again!

I purchased a Fisher Paykel Washer and Dryer in 2009. The washer has worked okay, except for two instances in which the pump wouldnt drain its water and investigation determined the pump had been obstructed by lint. The dryer is another issue altogether. The first problem came just over a year into owning this appliance. The bearing was deemed failed and it had to be replaced. The bearing is less than a year old and the dryer again sounds like bare metal grinding on bare metal. Now...the dryer had to be serviced for heating problems. Specifically, the dryer would run for hours without drying the clothes. It was determined that the lint sensor trips the heater to prevent fire...makes sense, but further investigation found that the fine mesh screen which serves as a filter has dry-rotted and failed, so lint quickly moves to the inside of the appliance and repeatedly triggers the safety mechanism.Question: Why should I have to take this unit apart every couple of days to clean it? The design is obviously flawed. Ive never done such a thing to the previous dryer I owned, nor have my parents...even when there were eight of us in the house. Sadly, I was given the entire song and dance about how wonderful these high priced, gilded turds would save me time and money. Nothing is further from the truth. While the appliance technician has been friendly and helpful (once I can get in touch with him), these appliances have been miserable to own. I share my house with four others and the laundry piles up quickly...not to mention the fact that the dryer is a fire waiting to happen. I had a Whirlpool standard dryer that was seven years old and I got rid of it when I bought these gems...it still worked. What was I thinking? Now the decision must be made...shell out a few hundred bucks for a poorly designed lint filter and service, or, look for an older standard dryer. Guess what...Goodbye Fisher Paykel! Note to others: Stay well clear of this high tech junk.

I purchased an F&P dryer a few years ago and after replacing the heating elements 3 or 4 times while under warranty and trying to blame me, the vent, or my electricity, which they couldnt support after inspection, and after I ruined a couple hundred dollars worth of clothes when the heating element broke and remained on when the dryer had stopped (not to mention getting burned when I reached in expecting the dryer to be cold since it had gone through is cooling cycle), F &P replaced my dryer with a newer model. Well, the elements on this model have gone out of it multiple times. Yes, my vents are clean, yada yada yada. I did have to laugh that they changed their warranty to 1 year because of their cost in repairing the elements and other parts. They recommended I move my dryer to an exterior wall so that it had an extremely short exhaust run. They also told me they beefed up the elements to make them more durable. Unfortunately, the elements cost more than $80.00 each time they break, and because F&P hasnt been forced to fix the problem, we as consumers are expected to continue to pad their pocket with repair costs. I should add that twice, when a tech was in my house, he wouldnt put my dryer back together to use with one working element because he said it was a fire hazard. Fire hazard! Does somebody have to die before F&P actually addresses this issue? It has been brought to their attention.

Fisher & Paykel Ecosmart Top Load Washer - I bought a washer and dryer
Fisher & Paykel Ecosmart Top Load Washer - I bought a washer and dryer set from Lowes 3 1/2 years ago and have no complaints about the dryer. It is very efficient and dries quickly and thoroughly, but the washer is another story. I have had many garments to come out mangled. The detergent never seems to rinse completely, and over the last 6 months, the washer has only been spinning intermittently. Now, it is not draining or spinning and I am waiting days for a service call. After reading these reviews, I dont feel very hopeful for a quick or permanent resolution. The salesperson at Lowes touted the brand highly. When the repairman comes Monday, if he gives an expensive quote, I will be calling the scrap metal man to pick it up and will go buy another brand. Very disappointed as I paid over $500 for this machine. Never again. And I will tell all my friends.

My Fisher & Paykel GWL11 Washer quit working a week ago. The repairman has been here twice, once to diagnose and then again to install valve and pump. The washer still does not work; the spin cycle will not work. He will come out here again to see if the problem is with the board. Based on what I am reading in this forum, perhaps I should cut my losses and go buy a new washer. I wish I had my old dependable Maytag. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to buy another washer.

We purchased a Fisher Paykel GWL11 washing machine about 8 years ago. For the first few years the machine performed well but on the very day the warranty was up the Motor Control board went bad. Fisher Paykel paid for another board but we were out $250 for the service call. The next thing that happened was this year. The machine would not function in several wash modes and would only spin at slow or medium speeds. Last week, the washer refused to spin at all. I bought another board (not cheap!) and then discovered that the old board may have gone bad because of a design flaw. The board is not protected from short circuit with the pump motor and the pump motor has a tendency to leak after a while. This causes a short that blows out the board. The factory does or did not acknowledge the problem. So, I then purchased a replacement pump (also not cheap!) that came with an inline fuse to prevent this from happening again. I put everything back together and all kinds of new problems. The GWL11 was an expensive machine at the time we purchased it and all we have done is put more money into it. Despite the new control board & pump, the machine will overfill unless you stop it manually, the lid lock cycles back and forth and then beeps preventing the machine from going into any spin cycle. At this point, I have had it with this machine! I will never buy another Fisher Paykel product and I will discourage everyone I know from buying their products. My last washing machine, a Sears Kenmore lasted me 17 years and it STILL WORKED! I only sold it to upgrade to the Fisher Paykel. Im going to take it out to the farm and use it for target practice. At least I will get SOME satisfaction from this lousy machine!

After a great deal of research, I learned this refrigerator has the least depth of any other on the market that includes a water dispenser. This is due in part to the fact the ice maker is not contained on the door; the icemaker is contained in the bottom freezer. Yes, you have to scoop out the ice manually, but the depth space savings is worth the trade, and the chilled water dispensed doesn't require ice. Although I initially thought it pricy for a refrigerator, it was my only option for the space in my kitchen. I ordered it on a Sunday evening and it was in my kitchen Wednesday afternoon. I love this stylish and sleek refrigerator!!! While 17 cubic feet may seem small, it is an ideal size for most families. In most cases, the items stored in the back of a refrigerator are forgotten or the space isn't really used anyway. There is so much shelf space that I was able to get more in this refrigerator than my previous larger unit. I was surprised to find that the water filter is not contained within the unit. The filter holder mounts to the wall, or, in my case, an adjacent cabinet, and just the water line attaches to the unit. This perhaps goes with the philosophy of no wasted space in the unit. I opted for a three year extended warranty for just over $100, but I am optimistic I won't need it. I'll update this rating if I have problems with the unit, but so far I have absolutely no regrets.

We have an F&P double dish draw. The top draw started to have an error message mid wash - U6. The bottom draw worked perfectly. It took 2 weeks to get a service appointment after being cut off on the phone twice. They came this morning and replaced a water valve but confirmed the bottom draw was in perfect working order. $180 later, valve replaced and told all good. Load the dish draw tonight after dinner and go to turn on. No power to either draw. I think the service tech must have turned off at the power point. No it is on. We connect to another power source. Still no power. I call F and P after hours number. Eventually a very unhelpful and non caring Leah tells me the earliest appointment to attend is Monday next week.We have Christmas at our home this weekend and cannot be without a dishwasher. Surely we would be a priority as it was working before they attended. I was put on hold abruptly for 12 minutes, and then had another staff member say that there would be no refund and I had to have a booking for the new problem. They would try for tomorrow but no guarantee. I now have to take a second day off work, have no dishwasher at all for the Christmas party, and if I am lucky I might not have to pay for them to fix their own mistake. Shame shame shame on you F&P. And a little empathy and customer service training would not go astray. Also I do expect a refund for your technician mistake that has cost me. Very unhappy.

I was renovating my apartment and so I was replacing everything. When I went in to the distributor to buy a refrigerator, the distributor showed me Fisher Paykel and I liked it. It seemed to have the features I wanted. It had the proper dimensions that I needed to fit in the kitchen and it was stainless steel. It seemed to be fine. The only objection I would have to it is they have a very strange design in so far as their water filter is concerned. I never would have bought the thing had I not been doing a major renovation because they mount the water filter outside the refrigerator. While all the other manufacturers, you just screw the filter in inside the refrigerator and youre done with it. But you need a plumber to put the thing together. And the plumber basically who put it in initially was not familiar with it, so he installed it incorrectly. I had to have him take it out and redo the installation. But its worked.I havent had it very long. Its fine for me right now. The longevity of the thing is going to be important because in the past few years, I have not had luck with refrigerators and they dont seem to last. So well see if this one lasts. I did, which I never had done before, take a long term contract out of the thing. Overall, I would give my friend the caveat that you may have an issue with needing a plumber to install the thing rather than just having the distributor come and install it because of that filter. In fact, the crazy thing is I have the refrigerator obviously in my kitchen, but the water filter is in my bathroom because you have to mount the filter very close to the source of water.

On 10/4/12, I posted a complaint regarding my F&P refrigerator. My refrigerator was 4 y/o and the display panel & water dispenser broke. The repair service did not work out well, so I called again and Lisette assured me she would take care of everything to my satisfaction. She contacted a different repair service that did a fantastic job and F&P paid for all of the parts. I cannot say enough about F&P Customer Service and especially Lisette. She was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this company and appliance. I have purchased many brands of appliances throughout my lifetime and I have never had such a positive experience as I did with this company. It has never worked right. We have had so many service calls that I cant count them. I will replace it eventually with another KitchenAid. Perhaps you should take this one and analyze it like they do in med school with corpses - and perhaps you can figure out where you went wrong. By the way, not only is the electrical stuff faulty, but it simply does not clean the dishes. If I wash them first, it might sort of rinse them. We had the ice maker replaced, then we had sensors replaced. To get parts for a F & P refrigerator it takes FOREVER! This is the worst appliance purchase that I have ever made, and dealing with Lowes lemon laws, etc. has been a nightmare. With everything replaced, the ice maker will make approximately 2 trays of ice every 24 hours. This is not enough for anybody. Additionally we have had problems with the temps in the fridge. I, too, was coerced by a salesperson at Lowe’s to pay a huge sum for a washer/dryer set. When delivered the dryer did not work after 3 days. I only agreed to them bringing a new dryer. The dryer does not dry well and always taking twice as long as the washer, even though I am vigilant about keeping lint traps and piping clean. Now it is making a high pitched whining sound--bearings? The washer is constantly out of balance even though it is level and on a concrete floor. It spun clothes nearly dry when new, but now I sometimes run the spin cycle a second time to remove more moisture. Thought I would read reviews before calling the repairman. I now think I might go shopping instead of throwing more money at a hopeless situation. I will never buy this brand again and long for my old Maytag set.

He said Fisher Paykel made all the dishwasher drawers for everybody else. So we might as well go with the one who makes the most of them. I have a full-sized dishwasher to handle everyday other things but I wanted something just for little things throughout the day that build up in the sink. When I saw them, I was very impressed and I was extremely pleased with it. I like that it holds everything and its easy to operate. This was my first purchase of a Fisher Paykel. I had problems with it in the beginning. I dont know whether it was related to the person who installed it or the way that it was installed. Every time I went to use it for the first two weeks, I got an error message. We finally figured out that it was pushed too far back in the cabinet and it was pushing into the waterline every time that happened so it was causing the error message to tell me that it wasnt connected. To get my dishwasher repaired is a joke, as they say tech will be out between 12 and 5. Hello people work, well get a family member or a neighbors to come over. Hello who doesnt work these days. We agree the tech wouldnt be here before two and rocks up just before two, as I am driving home from work. Missed him by two minutes, but cant come back today, so we all have to live with the smell for another four days. So just remember if you are buying Fisher Paykel you can only get it service by Fisher Paykel. So if it breaks down be ready to have your life put on hold as the world only works around them. As they cant booked times only between half days and be ready for the half hour call before they come out, only if you request a call before they come, otherwise take a sick day as they will just rock up anytime to service it, and if not there too bad. So you can drop what you doing and run out of work at the drop of a hat, half hour before they come. All company really let you do that. So come on Fisher Paykel, get your ** together to help your customers out in a better way. We all have jobs to do, so get your tech to work on a better schedule so they can give us a time and not between five hours.
