The capacitor failed after only 3 1/2 years. While this inexpensive part (less than $30) is covered under warranty the labor of a licensed HVAC contractor is not covered. So I had to dish out $180 for labor. Labor should be covered under warranty as well. Disappointing and frustrating to happen on a relatively new unit.

Several years ago I purchased a Goodman central air conditioner through a local dealer. It was supposed to be high quality with a 10 year warranty. After several years the coil developed a very small leak and had to be replaced. I tried to get Goodman to replace it, but they told me that I did not register it correctly and essentially told me to **. After some quick research, I found out there is a class action suit against Goodman for knowingly selling coils with a defective design. Many customers have been stuck with these faulty coils. STAY AWAY FROM ANY PRODUCT GOODMAN SELLS. On the Goodman website it says IN LARGE TYPE A name you can trust. Do not believe it. I understand that any company can make design mistakes, but Goodman is a very large company that could afford to stand behind their products, but choose NOT TO. Check out the consumer reviews. Goodman is VERY LOW.

Our house had a Lennox heat pump system that came with a new house made in 2006. It nearly broke me financially with repairs and the straw broke when my family was on the cold side during last winter. I called Recker and Boerger this year and they gave us a bid on a brand-new GOODMAN 16 SEER 4-ton unit armed with a scroll compressor, matching variable air handler, 5-year parts and labor warranty on the entire unit, 10-year parts after the 5 years is up, and a LIFETIME scroll compressor replacement guarantee in the event that the compressor fails for any reason--providing it stays at the same house it was installed in. I explained in great detail to the R&B salesman that my family had been through hell with winter and repair costs and we really needed some good service.

We are so disappointed in our Goodman HVAC unit. It was installed 9 months ago and the circuit board already failed. No big deal...its under warranty. WRONG! We were surprised to receive a bill for several hundred dollars when we had it repaired under warranty. When we called Goodman, they told us that the failed part was covered but not the labor or the service call, despite it being a product defect. They told us we had to have bought a separate labor warranty when we bought the unit if we wanted them to cover labor! So we just paid a whole lot of money to fix a manufacturer failure. We will not be buying more Goodman products in the future. Poor customer service!

I bought a Goodman heat pump model GsZ160361bd, serial no 1903096018 brand new and had it installed by a “license technician“. The unit broke in less than 18 months and required repairs that cost me approximately $1600 in labor. The part were covered by the manufacturer. But no customer should have to spend that much money on a heat pump that was purchased new. I believe Goodman Manufacturing has junk heat pumps and I recommend anyone looking to buy a new unit to look at the other manufacturer. Also make sure it is a sister brand name to Goodman. The customer support is of no use to the customer who purchased their product. All you get is scripted reply to call a license contract to fix their junk product! At your own cost! This is a real experience. Do not buy!

I purchased both a Goodman Central AC Unit and a Goodman Furnace in 2013. I had become disabled around that time and this was my last big purchase. I had hoped that in buying 2 new units that I wouldnt have problems with them and that theyd be reliable for years to come. That was not the case. When I went to start up the AC at the beginning of the 2nd year, it wasnt working. The repairman had to replace the coil. Now, going into the 5th year, my furnace is not working. The repairman came out and said it needed a part that had to be ordered. He said the error code on the panel read: Low fire pressure switch open. Since it was Friday afternoon when the repairman came out, the part wouldnt be delivered until late Monday (or early Tuesday) and so therefore Tuesday would be the earliest it could be repaired. This left me without heat for almost 6 days in 30-degree weather with snow on the ground. Its freezing in this house. I have severe arthritis and nerve damage which is worse in the cold. Ive had to increase my pain medication and Im stuck sitting under a heated blanket.I made this purchase because I didnt want to have to worry about my old system breaking down while I was out of work with limited funds and as it turned out, my 20-year-old system was more reliable. Im really disgusted with this company. Both their AC units and furnaces are junk. I spent thousands thinking I was making a good investment for my home and its one of the worst purchases Ive ever made.

Brought a unit from Goodman on 3/7/17. Installed the unit for my customer on 3/9/17. On 3/11/17 they had to evacuate from their home because of the smell because the heat exchanger is bad. Also the children got sick and the parents got headaches and had them for 3 days. Goodman said they couldnt give us a new heater and the homeowner no longer wants this furnace in their home. They do not want no tech from Goodman at their home. They want to be reimbursed. The Manager Michael ** was the most unsympathetic person I dealt with in my life. Instead of just reimbursing the homeowner he is making it difficult for them. He wants us to pay a tech from Goodman to deem it bad when we purchase the unit not even a week ago. I will never recommend Goodman to any of my customers and homeowners and I have been doing heating for over 25 years and I know what I am talking about. Do not purchase a heater from Goodman. They didnt care about children getting sick and they had the homeowners without heat for 5 days and will not reimburse them with their money. I am appalled they only care about one thing taking money from customers. They didnt try to help at all. You will never see our business again. I also suggest to you Michael ** learn how to be a manager the way you handle this situation is uncalled for.

My HVAC guy said they were a good system so I trusted him. Now 3 yrs later the heat pump is not working and have to keep the gas furnace on emergency heat. I have contacted goodman with no help of a tech person to come out and check what is going on. It's still under warranty but I do not want to pay for a service call when the unit is only 3 yrs old.

Bought Goodman. Never again. 2 burnt blower motors and now a defective evaporator coil and on top of that my installer said it’s all warrantied through Goodman for 10 years but now Goodman says they will not warranty the units for 10 years; only 5 because a form was not filed within 90 days from install. This is bull. It’s because they are in a class action lawsuit about having lot and lots of defective coils and so theyre trying to get out of covering their 10 year warranty on a technicality and because they know their stuff will only last for 5 year and now turning the blame on homeowners for their installing company negligence in not filing their paperwork timely by saying, Oh that’s the homeowners responsibility to file the warranty paperwork and if they don’t we will penalize them for our defective products.Let’s face it. Paperwork or not it should not affect the warranty. If their stuff was built right from the beginning and they felt a 10 year warranty was proper then filing a form should not matter. It does not change the MFG date or the install date or the way they make their products. They have not heard the last from me. This is just a start.Buy Trane not Goodman and save your self lots of headaches. Dealing with Goodman’s customers service is a joke just a headache. I’m not asking for labor charges or the 10 lbs of Freon that was lost due to their defective coils just to stand behind their 10 year policy and provide the parts to replace their known bad inferior parts for the 10 year period they promised. If youre looking for HVAC work do your homework. Check out the net for all the people having issues with Goodman then buy something else more reliable like American Standard or Trane. I wish I did.

Nov 21, 2019 Warranty with lots of loopholes. I have bought a few Goodman furnaces in the last few years. I flip houses for a living and have rentals. I used to think they were a good value. Just had some warranty issues with 2 units.! Four years old bad induced draft motor. And plugged heat exchanger. The second one 5 years old bad blower motor. I called Goodman about both units and they would not honor either warranty. If you do buy one make sure it is registered and the date it was made not just installed. And when I took another look at the warranty it is not covered if bought on the internet. I currently am talking to a few attorneys about their warranty practice and what can be done. I will never buy a Goodman or Dykin Ever again.

If I could rebuild my house and choose a better heating system - I would. Goodman is absolutely terrible! Had our home for 3 years and had 3 major repairs done on the unit. Whats really frustrating is the lack of parts. Whoopie - the parts are under warranty. However, labor is still outrageous and it take 3 - 5 weeks to get the part! Unexplainable! This has happened 3 different times now. It is now 16 degrees outside and we have been without a heater for 3 weeks. This type of support - or lack of support is criminal!

I had a gas leak the first season (2011). I went without heat for one month as the Gas Company kept turning off my Goodman unit. Dayton Services tech came out 4 times but could find nothing. A neighbor found the leak and they came out and fixed it as I had taken a picture of the leak. Next season the Amana a/c went out and Freon put in. Skipped a season and next year the a/c went out again and capacitor and freon added. Skipped a season and same thing again--Freon and capacitor. I am 83 and didnt want to go through the heat and bought a window unit in anticipation of next breakdown in summer 2018. I called and wrote Goodman (in Houston) along with pages of documentation. No response. Mainly sarcasm. No response from Dayton. Paid $5,000 for the unit. Im supposed to have 10-year warranty and service!

On October 16, 2012 we were awakened by a terrible noise coming from our Goodman HVAC unit inside our 6-year-old Fischer condo. We found that the noise went away when we turned off the heat, which is not feasible when the weather has turned cold recently. Since we have been under a service agreement for the past 2 years with Ricks Heating and Cooling I had them come out and upon investigation it was determined that the noise was related to vibration in the extremely long line-set (approximately 106-110 feet) and DelMonde (the installation company) had paired the 3-ton outdoor heat pump with a 2-1/2 ton inside air handler. We have not been able to use the heat pump as the compressor is failing and the coil on the interior air handler has also failed. Therefore, we have been relying strictly on emergency heat and space heaters and keeping the thermostat low in an attempt to minimize our electric bills.Additionally, Rick Martin of Ricks Heating & Cooling states that even if we replace the heating and air conditioning system he cannot guarantee future performance due to faulty installation of the existing line. Ideally, the entire system needs to be replaced and new Freon lines run in the proper location. This could be a considerable cost to us and may possibly also involve having to cut through our drywall and that of our neighbors. Naturally, we do not wish to involve our neighbor in this matter, nor do we want to have to bring it up before our condo association board and would like to minimize intrusion and inconvenience of others. As luck would have it the heat pump only had a 5-year warranty and the coil has a ten-year warranty, however, DelMonde failed to register either item for the warranties. After many weeks of getting opinions from other HVAC companies, two visits from DelMonde, and numerous phones calls with Gary ** of Fischer Homes Warranty Dept. we had an inspection on December 5 with representatives from DelMonde (the installation company), a Goodman factory rep., and Gary ** of Fischer. On December 10, 2012 we received a written opinion from Rob **, the Goodman factory rep, who declared that the refrigerant line set was within guidelines of 150 feet and equates to a capacity decrease from rating of approximately 12% and It is not outside our allowable design parameters per the R-22 Long Line Set Application guide and is not detrimental to the system operation. He further noted that the heat pump and air handler is a proper match ... and he can find no issues with the application or installation. This is very perplexing to us, especially since 3 different HVAC specialists have indicated that the very long line set is much longer than they would deem appropriate and heat pump/air handler do not appear to be a proper match. On December 16, I wrote a response to Rob ** stating that we are not satisfied with his findings and felt the cost burden to replace our HVAC system should be equally shared by Goodman, Fischer, DelMonde and us. To date, we have yet to receive a reply to my proposal.

We have 2 three-yr-old air conditioning systems. On 8/23, one unit stopped working. We called for service hoping to get the system up & running without paying a lot of money & since the unit is still fairly new, we prayed that parts would still be covered under the manufacture. No such luck. We were told that we had to replace an E-Z trap, $177.00, a Safety T, $199.00. We were charged for a tune up $155.00, a diagnostic fee $99.00, an Indoor Coil (still covered under warranty) but with labor & other charges, it cost $809.00, a Coolant R-410A $69.00. The other system made an extremely loud noise while running so we had them to check that system as well and were told it needed a condenser fan motor, $209.00. We moved into our new home on 4/15/10. I cant image why so many problems would be happening to these systems so soon. When I reached out to Goodman to make them aware of what was going on, of course I was asked if we had an extended warranty (wish we had been told about that early on). Their only suggestion was to have the company making repairs to contact distributor for Goodman so that a field tech specialist can come out with company making repairs and make an assessment to see whats going on with the system. I am very upset that we had to spend so much money on these systems so soon and I hope Goodman will stand behind their reputation.

8 year unit, installed in a new house in 2013, Houston TX. 5 Ton. The coil was broken in 2017, had to replace it. This year 2021 the condenser had leaks EVERYWHERE! This was installed in a new built home. My husband passed away suddenly 2 days before the day of the closing back in 2013, and I had no time or clear head to learn about warranties. The crooked contractor never registered the unit under my name, and therefore when it broke this year I could not claim any warranty. Laws in Texas only benefit corporations but not the individuals. The manufacturers will give better price to contractors with licenses, and higher prices to home owners. If you own your house, make sure you register any device you buy under your name, specially if you are a lady, try to avoid service companies to buy devices. Most contractors (installers, distributors, repair companies) in Texas are vultures, awful rats, they will take your money and never disclose the real price they get from manufacturers. Goodman ethics sucks, same as the contractor JDS (David Sanabria) in Houston. For HVAC units save yourself aggravation and pain: Go with RHEEM, Bryant or Carrier.

The outdoor 4-ton unit is quiet enough for people to carry a conversation without missing a single pronunciation...its that quiet! Please do yourself a favor and take the time to tell your installing contractor and they will come through for you like they did us. Make it personal, get to know them a little by offering some lunch (pizza and pop) like we did, and they will do a PERFECT JOB for you...providing they have the ability. Our final cost was that they took off 3% of the price (paid cash with a 401K loan) and they threw in a free HEPA whole house filtration system and half off of a forced air HVAC humidifier. I saved ~$600 + I got back $200 from Duke Energy for a qualifying energy saving system!!! Win, win, win. People, we love this unit and my wife thinks I am a superhero now. As I write this our house is 90 degrees (typical August in NC) and weve been without AC since yesterday. The whole blower is gone now. Ive never heard anything good about these units and anybody who buys one will likely get ripped off. Our electric bill has nearly doubled in the winters since weve had this thing and increased in the summer months also. I then attempted to contact a company to repair the unit, and found it difficult to find a company that worked on the Goodman brand. I had an Amana 2 ton hvac gas pack for 18 years, never had a problem, never cleaned, never serviced. The unit had to be replaced in 2006 and was a problem from day one! The unit would not cool like the old one, the unit was supposed the same as I had before. I spent $3,900.00 in repairs with everything in the unit being replaced, including the compressor. Goodman did not offer any help! They even called one service technician and said I wasnt happy with him, when the fact of the matter was he could not figure out what was wrong! The unit would run continually all day long with the thermostat on 73 and the outside temp was 83 degrees! I have finally found that the original compressor was a 19000 BTUs and the sensible BTUs rating was rated at 18000, which several HVAC techs said that was a 1/2 ton difference and would not work! I just recently replaced with a Coleman and will not buy Goodman ever again!!! The last tech found the blower wheel was wobbly because of insulation, but said even replacing it would not solve the issue!

In 2009, I built a new house and it was finished about August of 2010. I bought a Goodman whole home system, which had an air conditioning unit, a furnace, and the inside air conditioning unit in February of 2010. Since I have had it installed by professionals, I have had nothing but trouble. The outside air conditioning unit turns on very loud and when it gets to normal speed, the fan will jolt really hard and you will hear a really loud grinding noise. This has happened since about September of 2010. We have had 3 service calls out to our house and all of them said that it needed freon or there was a fan issue. We didnt have the money for them to take it apart and find something wrong to cost even more money, so we left it alone. It still does that grinding every time it runs. Then, yesterday (9/5/2015) the outside unit was making a weird noise and the inside unit was not blowing any air into the vents of the house. The inside unit was also make a whining sound, so I shut the whole system off and went back to check it out. The pipe that goes from the outside unit to the inside unit had ice build-up all over it. I let it thaw for an hour and turned it on again to see what it would do. The outside unit will turn on fine, (still makes that grinding noise) but the inside unit will not turn on at all, so it will not blow any air to the vents. I tripped the breakers to the system to see if it would reset, and now the outside unit will not turn on at all!We called our local place to have them look at it this morning (9/6/2015). They got the outside unit working but found out that the fan for the inside unit is burned up and they dont have it in stock. If they cant fix this, I am just going to rip the whole system out and put in a Carrier or a Trane system. I cant believe a company would do this to people. Take their money and then right after the warranty expires, the whole system goes down. UNBELIEVABLE!!

After 7 years it broke down and I was informed that unless I had gone online and registered it, the warranty was only 5 years. Nobody told me about this, sounds like a scam!

Our 15 year old TRANE air conditioner was ready to be replaced. I called around and read reviews and we chose NorthCentralFloridaAirConditioning. We paid about $7400.00 which I had to put on my credit card. They installed it in September 2019. To date we have had them come out to TRY and fix it at least ELEVEN times and it’s not a year old. Being elderly and in the middle of a pandemic doesn’t make it easier either. It would just stop working. After working in the yard and the heat index in the 100s is not fun coming in the house with an air conditioner not working at all.Ray- the boss and owner-and those that came out were nice and they did try to fix it. It’s not the company but the product. I hope we never ever have to buy a FRANKLIN AC ever again. We had a TRANE for 15 years and never had a problem with It until about a year before we got the FRANKLIN. Sales person assured me that FRANKLIN is better than a TRANE. We did let the manufacturer know about this and they noted this and gave us a case number. They put in a hard start kit which seems to be working for now. Manufacturer said not all units need that. Uh, why didn’t they just include this from the beginning!! This has been a true nightmare. Dena **

I purchased my Goodman furnace and (so called 10 year warranty) through a contractor that was working for the builder who was building my addition. I never received the warranty registration form from the contractor that was suppose to be returned to Goodman within 60 days. I had a fan replaced within the first year that worked its way loose filling my house with smoke with no questions asked. Eight years later the same fan has bearing problems requiring another fan costing $640.73. Goodman now tells me it is no longer under warranty because the registration was never filed. Consumer Affairs could tell me when (the contractor) purchased the unit but they couldnt warranty it. The moral of this review is Goodman cant sell the unit to the consumer but they expect you to register it if your supplied with all necessary information from your blue collared installer. Im told that a fan problem is not a common problem in HVAC units but very costly. Theres much better quality than Goodman manufacturing.

I purchased a heat pump in 11/2011 and then started to have a lot of problems in 2015. It was noisy running also. Then on 5/15 was my 1st service call and they found a hole in the coil which leaked freon. Had to be repaired and added freon. Then 4/2016 it stopped working completely. Another service call and they had to replace the compressor and defrost control unit. At least they were under warranty, but I had to pay for service call and freon. Thats not cheap either. On July 8 warm air came thru vents. Serviceman had to add more freon and changed the schraders. More money. This lasted a week and back to warm air again. Another call another hole in coil and more freon. This lasted a month so now its Aug. 2016 and Im sitting here in my house with temp of 95 and outside temp of 98. I have so much money out for service calls and freon, that Ive decided that I am going to have to buy a new heat pump when this one isnt even 5 yrs. old. But with all the money going for repairs, I could have put in a new one. I trusted the dealer for the quality of Goodman products, but since all these troubles Ive read all the unsatisfactory notations and Im adding to it. In fact the customer service girl at Goodman hung up on me when I told her I would never recommend this company to anyone. Hows that for rude employees!! I would like to get some of my money back if its possible. I wrote to Goodman asking for this, but I doubt if I will because they dont care. They dont even make my model anymore, so it must have been bad to begin with. I hope other people read the reviews about Goodman before they purchase anything and dont buy from them. I have a Goodman heat pump that is less than 4 years old but has had many problems in that short span of time. Im already aggravated that Im sitting in the heat with no relief, but what really makes my blood boil is the way I was treated by Goodmans customer service. My air conditioner is out AGAIN and Im sick of paying all the service fees associated with keeping it running. My compressor has now gone bad so even though the part warranty will replace it, Im out the $1400 it cost for labor. I feel like they should absorb those cost since they sold me a defective unit that wont stay in operation more than a couple months at a time.

Purchased two Goodman/Amana heat pumps at the same time for my home. Both 16 SEER, one was a 2 ton unit, one was a 5 ton unit. All new units, both inside and outside. First Unit: Would not heat without kicking on strips. Thirteen service calls and 4 years later, it was finally addressed. Second Unit: 2nd year, capacitor failed. 3rd year, same capacitor failed. 4th year, outside unit fan failed. Had a couple of other smaller issues, too. Also purchased 10 year parts/labor warranty with Goodman. Apparently not. Even though I have an invoice that states what I purchased, Goodman will not recognize the labor warranty. Made many calls to get the issue addressed and they would not listen. I can understand one or two problems, but not many significant problems, continually on two separate new units. We keep temp 78 in summer and 68 in winter, so not an overworked system. Carry your business elsewhere or set a dinner plate for the regular serviceman as we did.

I did routine air filter change every season and wash the outdoor AC unit in the winter months. The coil and electric cord were properly installed and cover with rubber foam. Our house has two HVAC units. Had both air conditioners replaced just under two years ago. The coil from the bigger unit cracked, and all the refrigerant leaked out. The warranty covered the part, the cheapest item of the repair. The warranty did NOT cover the labor or the $1500 worth of refrigerant that leaked. What a gyp. Its not like we did anything out of character. We paid a certified installer to install a new unit. Air conditioners use refrigerant. If the unit breaks, the refrigerant leaks out. This should be covered. The treatment from Goodman (also known as Diakin) is that if you pay to have brakes installed on your car, and the brakes fail causing your car to get totaled, Goodman will pay for new brakes, but not to have them installed, or to have the car repaired or replaced, saying were terribly sorry our brakes failed, but the rest of the car, well, thats just incidental, we wont cover you, thats on you. This gets worse. I posted a review on their website. They emailed me asking for more information. They emailed me back asking me to call. I called. They found my warranty, but had no idea why I was told to call. The lady said it must have been our media team. And that was it! Oh yeah, I checked, they removed my negative review from their website. On top of that, they obviously manipulate their reviews. In addition to removing mine, they left another review that gave one star, but talked about how Goodman made the best unit every. Cant even own up to their mistakes. I will not make the mistake with Goodman again. Our furnaces are probably going to go in the next few years, certainly will avoid Goodman and Diakin.

So far this year, $144. Plus last year we had to stay in a hotel for 4 nights because we couldnt get anyone to come and fix it due to the prolonged cold weather. Last year when we tried to file a warranty claim for the control board we were informed that because we didnt call them when the furnace was installed, our warranty ended after just 5 years! They have become a nightmare for me and my customers. Since 08 I can not believe how many leaking coils and replacement coils with same problem a year later. They used to make a decent affordable reliable unit. They have made for many upset customers with constant breakdowns and costly repairs. They are now owned by I believe a Chinese company and like everything from China is pure **. A good warranty is their selling point but when a leaking coil cost 800 in labor and gas and goes bad year after year it means nothing. Dont let any contractor talk you into it. Its cheaper for a reason. Decade old contractor that now wouldnt put a goodman a/c in my enemys house. Unreliable cheap Chinese crap. Buy American.

Purchased a Goodman furnace in January 2010 from a building supply company in Steinbach which is about 20 mins out of Winnipeg. I liked the fact that Goodman was offering a 10 year warranty on the parts and 10 year full replacement. We have had nothing but issues with the unit every winter and always seems to be the same issues - a circuit board, sensors, condensation build up and the motor. I had their Goodman account manager in my home last year after I said I wanted the unit out of our house, was told he was going speak to his superior to make sure I was satisfied Toronto and get back to me, that never happened. I never write reviews about products but the word needs to get out that the furnace is not reliable. If you live in area which only requires your furnace periodically then maybe its fine but not in a Canadian climate.

So sorry to write this, but want to warn others not to waste their money buying Goodman HVACs. We are a manufacturers dream because we take care of anything we own. Since purchasing our unit in 2017, we have had it maintained by a local HVAC company that took care of a previous unit for 10 years. On June 1, 2019 our AC went out and diagnosis by the HVAC company that does maintenance as having a bad evaporator coil. I looked online and these normally last between 10 to 15 years. Goodman did warranty the part, but the change out and restarting the unit cost more than $2k.

With proper maintenance, a furnace should last two years or more but Goodman doesnt even have a half life. I put in the first Goodman 10 years ago. The heat exchanger failed in less than two years and the entire furnace was replaced under warranty in March 2007. I had to pay for labor. The heat exchanger has now failed again at the end of winter, rendering the furnace dangerous and unusable. Nobody local has a heat exchanger so it must be shipped from Texas. Im told to pay for shipping and labor. Despite talking to Goodman on the phone, the company didnt tell me it would be backordered nor would it airship to me despite the weather. A consumer affairs supervisor never called me back. My family will be without heat in the Northeast for about three weeks because of Goodmans failure as a quality manufacturer and one whose customer service is disrespectful, unresponsive and extremely poor. Do not ever consider a Goodman and if your HVAC company or supplier recommends Goodman - find a different company because they reflect the companies they carry.

I have had nothing but problems with the unit and I purchased the 10 - 10 - 10 year warranty on the unit. On 6-22-2010 the compressor went out and a new one was installed. On 8-9-11 the blower motor went out and was replaced. On 6-3-2014 the evaporator coil had to be replaced. On 2-23-15 the condenser coil was leaking and has to be replaced - found out to get a new condenser coil would be 7-14 days, because there was not one in the state of Florida. We got what we were told was a top of the line Goodman HVAC natural gas unit. It was installed this September (2019). All was well until it got cold and we turned on the heat. Gas smells arose from the floor heating vents. It doesnt happen all the time but there are great bursts of gas intermittently. And -- get this-- our carbon monoxide detector started beeping. We were so naive that we thought the detector was broken and replaced it. Then the new one started going off! We called the installer. They came out and could detect no leak from the outside unit. It was discovered that there was a gap where the unit had slipped off the base. They fixed that. We were hoping that meant the problem was solved. Nope. The gas smell in the vent is even stronger. Im told that means the heat convector is cracked or broken or defective. This is a brand new unit. What the hell?

I have read so many bad reviews and all I can say is I have been installing Goodman units since 2008 and have yet to have one fail. I would put a Goodman up against any brand. Dollar for dollar and dependability you cant beat it. I have had 2 units where ants made a home in the contactor, but thats the only times I have had to replace any, and I mean any part on a Goodman unit. Goodman also has a solid alum. Evap. Coil, nothing to rust out like other brands have a MILD steel end plates that after 10-15 years of service with it being wet from condensation will rust and cause the copper loops to have pinhole leaks that is impossible to fix. Goodman, Amana, Daikin are all the same company and is the largest HVAC company in the entire world. They didnt get that way from building bad and undependable equipment. They build good quality equipment, maybe its the installer, and not the equipment, because as I have said in the last 9 years of steadily installing Goodman, not one has failed.

I purchased a Goodman heat pump GPH1360H41BC (sn: 1208655671) in 2012 from a local dealer by my AC tech. It worked ok at first except for low freon. This year I began having problems. First a capacitor, then the fan motor. A month later I was told the coil had a leak and tech replaced 5 lbs freon at $30/lb plus labor. I was quoted 11 lbs of freon at $30/lb plus 3 hrs labor for a total of about $900 for a new coil. Coil was under warranty but labor and freon isnt. Those are the biggest cost on the problem. Why should we have to pay for freon that escaped as a result of a faulty coil?A week later the new coil arrived and will be installed tomorrow. Now I find out there are many problems with Goodman products. I am a widow on social security and cannot afford costly repair bills. My tech tells me they do not install these anymore. Im also afraid that my son who purchased one a year or so ago will also start having problems. Made in China products are no good. Please stop selling these.

Let me start out by saying Im a HVAC business owner for 24 years and I will no longer be installing Goodman equipment. The reason is that Ive needed technical help on a few jobs in the last month and the Tech Desk was the worse Ive dealt with out of any manufacturer. They were short, didnt give me many things to try and after I told them what Ive already tried, they were like I dont know. I kept asking them what other things I can try and they just repeated themselves giving me no new things to try. Ive always had great help with other Tech help with other brands and they always helped me figure it out. But Goodman Tech help was worthless the 4 times I dealt with them. They all must really hate their job and take it out on the Service people that call in. Ive been installing Goodman on and off since it was Janitrol. They were helpful and nice years ago. I havent had to call in for Tech help in years and man have they changed. The most arrogant, rudest ** Ive ever talked to. They all need to be fired and hire new Techs and retrain them. Otherwise this company will fall within 5 years the path they are on. I see many other 1 star reviews on here which means this companys Customer Service sucks. Wake up Goodman and if you cant see all these negative reviews, you people in corporate are the dumbest people on earth and you deserve to fail. If I owned a huge company such as Goodman and I see all these negative reviews, I would do undercover calls and find out who all the filth and garbage is within the company and fire them. A new training regimen must be enacted immediately for customer service. New management must be put in place. Out with the old and in with the new.

Goodman 2 Ton 13 Seer A/C unit and compressor: Bought a unit in 2009 - every year had to have them come and do something because it either did not heat or did not cool. Bought it for $2,355. In 2012 I ended up with bills over $2,400 in repairs. Whatever went wrong was NEVER a warrantied part. Watched them fix the air handler and saw the most flimsy wires ever which I was told would burn out every so often. Last couple of years, the compressor seemed to be rather noisy. Filed a complaint and now I am getting nowhere because the installer and manufacturer keep blaming the other person. IF neither accepts responsibility, then I hope to go the the media to have this resolved. Heard there is a lawsuit against Goodman Mfg. Id like to have a decent unit put in. Tired of the expense. Have a 10-year warranty and it didnt last 4 years before I had bills that added up to a new unit plus more... Go to another manufacturer.

I have a Goodman AC unit that is barely 2 years old. Back in November 2017 my coil went bad and lost all coolant. Had to wait almost 2 months for a new coil since it was on backorder. The new coil was installed in January of 2018. Roughly a month later, the float switch died and had to be replaced. A week or two later, the blower died. This also had to be replaced. It is now June of 2018 and the six months old coil is leaking AGAIN! It will cost around 800 dollars to fix AGAIN! Since both coils failed and caused the air handler to freeze up, I now have water damage in the air handler cabinet. Mold is now growing and had to be removed. The air handler cabinet will have to be replaced as well since the insulation is now damaged. With this new repair, I will be $2,000 dollars in the hole on a 2 year old system.Goodman seems like they have poor quality control for their systems and refuse to help. I called the manufacturer and they blame the installation company and to contact the distributor about any complaints. Since the parts keep failing, I would say its the manufacturers fault, not an installation company or distributor. They also have poor customer service. The person I called was Debbie. She was very rude and not helpful at all. She seemed like she didnt want to hear my complaint and not help me. She told us to call the distributor and that was it.With poor quality control and poor customer service, I would have to say this is, by far the worst company I have had to deal with and never will again. Reading all the reviews on here, I am starting to consider legal action against GOODMAN. There has to be some laws protecting consumers against such practices that GOODMAN conducts.

I purchased a 16 seer Variable speed 2 stage 3 ton heat pump with a AVPTC air handler. The unit was purchased and installed on 1/13/2012. Almost immediately the problems started. Goodman replaced the variable speed motor in the air handler along with the circuit board. I then started having problems with the heat pump in the winter months kicking out on the high head pressure limit. After many calls to Goodman, they sent a factory Rep from Iowa along with a rep. from Lute Supply where the unit was purchased. The rep found a short in the high pressure limit, a Hard start was added to the heat pump and the unit worked fine for about 6 months. At this point I have $750.00 invested in service calls. The unit failed again in August 2016. Service was called again and the run capacitor was replaced. Service call $313.00. The unit ran fine until 10/25/17 when the heat pump stopped. Service was again called and I was told the unit is leaking and coil needs replaced. I have 13 service calls on this unit at a cost of $1800.00. The unit is coming out, I would never recommend Goodman products.

I was sold this Goodman Air Conditioner by Four Seasons heating & Air in Port Charlotte, FL. I have only had two years of use and after it wasnt blowing cold air I called 4 Seasons and in five minutes of inspection was told the compressor had blown out. They told me that despite the poor service of this unit, only parts were covered and they would charge $800 for the labor to reinstall these defective parts. I am 80 years old, live in Florida and will have had no air conditioning in 90% heat for at least three days. This product was defective. I have been a homeowner for 50 years and have never had less than five years wear from any air conditioner. Goodman needs to be investigated.

I had this unit installed on Jan. 2015 DURING cool months. Right away I noticed it wasnt blowing cooled air at all. My tech told me that it was due to it being cooled outside. Then I asked him to turn on the heater and that wasnt blowing enough heat. So months later and many calls to the tech, my unit is still giving me issues! I set the temperature and the a.c. Never gets to that set temperature. The thermostat was changed 4 times all together. Ive installed new duct work as recommended by my tech. I HAVE TOLD HIM A MILLION TIMES ITS THIS DAMN UNIT! Now I have so much moisture in the house it feels gross in here. The humidity is unbearable! I constantly find puddles of water next to my air vents. The unit is on all day and night. Barely shuts off trying to reach its set temp of 73. My electric bill is absolutely insane! Im noticing MOLD GROWING! WTF? Goodman right away tell you to have someone come out to make a report... I live in the NW and had my old unit replaced 6-2020 with a Goodman unit. The unit ran fine but was air only we have gas heat. So that said it only ran for app. 20 day in 2020. This year as temperatures rose in late June it started running for an additional 7 day then died completely by July 16th. That means this unit actually only lasted new for 37 days of A/C service. If it was a heat pump unit delivering heat that would have likely only lasted 1 month. That cost over 2500.00 for one months usage! No one wants to work on it. Just charge over 200.00 to diagnose the compressor is junk. We are left to suit the dealer who claimed 12 year parts & service extended Warranty on our contract in writing, and buy a real A/C unit that will last.Over 30 days usage. At my last home I sold in 2017 we put in a unit in 1997 upon our purchasing the home. It was a heat pump running all summer & winter. When we sold the home it still ran flawlessly 20 years later! Goodman should cease selling such cheap, undependable garbage to unsuspecting customer by shady dealers.

Do not buy!

I had a 95% AFUE GMH95 gas furnace installed in June of 2009. Furnace carries a 10 year parts warranty. In 2015 the inducer pump melted and caught fire. I had the Installation company come out to see this. Was told there was too much damage to replace parts and cables burned. Would need to be replaced. I filed a claim with customer assurance and continually hounded them for the status of this claim. A month later with temperatures now below freezing a representative from distributor and the installer came out to see damage which I already had sent picture to Goodman. Was told I would be notified next Monday. Another week goes by. No word. E-mailed customer assurance rep. for my case and received out of office reply with a phone number to call for assistance. I basically got the run around. A week later I tried again and also left voicemail. I finally called Goodman consumer affairs and spoke with a live person. After explaining the situation and the fact that my representative is not responding for over a month now I was then transferred to the same customer assurance rep. and listened to the same OGM telling me to call consumer affairs. Yes, a complete circle. It seems they just want to avoid this issue. So I called again and got a different live person who said Hold on I need to check something and was immediately disconnected. Now I feel I should let others know about the worst customer service experience that I have ever been through. So much for the 10 year warranty.

Much review was done before purchase to make sure size was appropriate for home, etc. Never really feels like its heating or cooling properly. Numerous times per year it has required repair, run capacitor, defrost control board, blower motor, bad txv (whatever that is), bad reversing valve. Last week started making awful noise while running. Repairman said it needs new fan. And last night it started throwing the breaker at the heat pump. So tired of this piece of crap, would not recommend.

Had a Goodman GSZ14 Heat Pump and Air Handler system installed in my house. The units ran trouble free for about four years. Last week the house lights would randomly flicker, yesterday the Heat Pump stopped working. The repairman found that a wiring bundle was ty-wrapped to a coolant line and the vibration of the system wore through the wire insulation and shorted out on the coolant line and arced a hole in that line causing the coolant to escape and shut down the unit. The wire was on a high voltage circuit so every time it shorted out, our house lights would flicker.

After having a Goodman furnace installed in my home 7 years ago, I recently had to spend $1000 on repairs. The main blower wheel began to make noise and was found to have cracked welds where the fins attach to the end plate. While the Tech was there he noticed the Combustion Blower was also noisy and dragging. He thought it might last a little longer, but I elected to replace it then as well. Since the furnace was just out of warranty, the cost for the two parts was almost $800. I have seen other complaints regarding Goodman Furnaces and must agree, they are substandard. The initial cost was low, and the unit seems to be efficient, but long term durability is poor. I have heard others say Goodmans are fine for a home you dont intend to keep. Ditto That!

I am a licensed HVAC/R contractor who has been in the field for 30+ years who installs all makes and models. These last two years selling Goodman products has been very very stressful. In particular the build quality is super cheap and flimsy and their quality control is extremely poor. Ive installed 30 gas furnaces in the last year and 10 of them all had wiring issues such as Molex plugs with uncrimped connections. The wires were not even stripped back and also the female spade terminals were poorly attached causing me to waste my time to fix their poorly assembled units. The last straw was I installed a brand new 80000 BTU 92% furnace for a very good customer of mine and it hasnt worked right since it had been installed. Now mind you this is not any fault of installation but fault of Goodman instead. The gas valve was dead on arrival so I thought, Ah. No big deal. Ill just go ahead and replace the gas valve. Things happen, I thought to my self. Well, in goes the new gas valve still not operating so then Im looking at a new replacement circuit board and now Im furious and the customers not too happy either. So go the new board installed. Didnt fix the issue either. Now Im fighting with customer service who is useless by the way and unwilling to help me resolve the issues. The customer service manager was dodging my phone calls and wouldnt return any of my calls. I didnt want an unhappy customer and wanted them to have heat so I removed that pile of junk and put in a New York furnace. Fired up beautifully. No problems and now the customers happy. But Ill tell you Im happy that the customers happy but Im not happy with Goodman. Please whoever reads this refuse Goodman products. They suck. They dont care about you or me and they are not cheap to buy either. Do yourself a favor and buy a quality brand and not this cheaply made trash. It made me look bad to the customer installing a brand new unit that should have had zero problems but ended up hurting me financially as I had to buy the customer a new furnace because they wouldnt help or even refund me for this defective unit. Hopefully they go out of business selling shoddy equipment to us honest hardworking Americans like us. I will never recommend or sell Goodman ever again and will spread the word. Have a blessed day.

I closed on my home May 2014 and purchased your product Model: GSZ13421AG Serial:1403135510. This product is almost new and only 2 years old. It has been determined that it has a faulty piece. I feel as if I have no recourse and am stuck with this faulty product. The air conditioner is defectively designed and cracked resulting in it leaking refrigerant, thus making my unit entirely inoperable unless I pay 750.00 total. As a result, my electric bill has increased because while the unit was leaking, it required more power for adequate cooking. Because the leakage of the refrigerant from the evaporator coil left my unit completely ineffective, I am forced to pay 750.00 in total repairs to address the problem fully which will take 2 weeks.Worse, today I had to pay 79.00 for a leak search out of my pocket to determine why your product is not functioning as promised by your company. I had to pay 75.00 for the visit and 190.00 for refrigerant. Worse, I have to pay 425.00 in labor next week to have your item repaired, the bill is at 750.00 plus at this point. I am outraged. This is ridiculous. Im told that it is tough and I should pay or my house will be hot.

Seems like I have a common problem with several consumers that have purchased a Goodman HVAC system. I built my house in 2009 and the builder installed 2 units, upper and lower. Every year I experienced issues with both units. We had to replace the coils and fan in the lower unit, we have to add Freon every year, $500+ because the units stop cooling. Ive spent well over $3000 for parts and labor. Now, looks like the upper unit continues to fail and the Goodman customer service department acts like the company has no concern for a resolution. My warranty expired after 5 years, because I too never received registration papers for an extended warranty.

I purchased the extended warranty through our local One Hour Heating and Air (now out of business). This covered a total replacement installation in 2009 of: a Furnace/Coil downstairs; heat pump/air handler unit upstairs; two outdoor units. Evaporator coil sprung a leak last week and I checked my warranty online and on the phone w/ Goodman and they confirmed my coverage for parts and labor. Called one of their authorized Asure techs and he came out and told me the coil wasnt covered.Everything (all serial numbers for furnace, heat pump/air handler, two outdoor units) was covered and registered EXCEPT, they had no record of the serial number for the coil. They all start with similar #s (0905, 1001) yet that one serial number for the coil isnt among what they have. Im beyond angry, especially after reading that thats the part that may have been defective upon install!! *sigh* They said the only recourse I had was to present them with a RECEIPT from 2009 showing that coil on there! After confirming the furnace was covered online, I didnt even consider keeping the receipt. Lesson learned there, I suppose. I will be calling them back today and try and dig a bit deeper. This is ridiculous.

Then a small part on the compressor failed to the tune of $1200.00. Now the compressor itself failed and we are waiting on a quote to get it replaced. This heat pump was installed when my new house was built in May 2010. In January 2011 it required piston replacement when it stopped heating the home. Then in June 2012 it required a replacement of the indoor evaporator coil when it stopped producing A/C. Then in June 2014 it required replacement of the outdoor evaporator coil when it stopped producing A/C. So in the first 4 years, it has required 3 major repairs. Sure, Goodman provides a 5-year warranty on all parts. But my most recent repair still cost over $1,000 for the labor and refrigerant. (The refrigerant is NOT included in the warranty, and that alone cost more than $600 this time.) I complained to Goodman, who told me I should have paid for the additional labor warranty as well. I suppose if you insist on buying a Goodman heat pump, then I would recommend the full labor warranty. But any person with half a brain should simply choose a heat pump from a company that is NOT widely recognized as the worst in the business (seriously, check any 3rd party review site). I will never be a Goodman customer again.

On 6/7/19, my 11 year old Goodman Furnace had a near catastrophic overheating which melted the main control board and ruined the entire interior of the furnace with a putrid smelling black carbon dust. After sending photographs and a detailed report from the professional installer, who has only seen such a near fire twice in his 30 year career, I was told by Senior Management, “There is nothing we can do since you are 12 months out of warranty”!After discovering that Goodman had underreported major fire issues with other products in the past and was fined by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, I have decided that I want nothing to do with this company and their utter dismissal of my complaint and request for some assistance with a completely unreasonable $4,000 expense. This highly dangerous and unusual failure of a product without any company empathy or concern, after a vigorous outreach on my part, warrants this review and a refusal for anyone who is considering putting their lives in this company’s hands, to enrich this multi-billion dollar company any further.

We had this furnace less than 6 years in our new home, this was installed by the builder, and gas valve failed to work within this short period. We were not told by the builder of this trap as Goodman and the builders are all lobbying to sell cheap stuff and keeping the customer uninformed of this conditions in small writings. I am sure many new homeowners may not be aware of this condition which is deliberately set to trick the customer, so the Goodman can wash off their hands of any failed part.Their customer service is lousy and have no consideration whatsoever for exceptional cases. They say only original homeowner will get 10 years warranty, means if the ownership changes, the warranty is over. This is really a joke & trap. AC heater air handler unit - When installed my house flooded. Phoned the installer, I did everything correctly. Phoned Goodman company, was told if I can wait a month they will send someone to look at it. This is right after installation. He came, said it was fixed. Used it for a month, and it was not used for 2 years. Now its flooding again and its freezing up above the filter. Turned off for a week and tried again - frozen. Thawed it out and just turned it off. This unit is a piece of crap and Goodman should be closed. I had a Trane for 20 years no problem and lightning hit the compressor. Fast forward 5 years, around the time the warranty ended and we began experiencing problems with one of the other units. We were advised that the coil inside the unit had gone bad and had to be replaced. I contacted Goodman and they advised that even though it had only been a few months since my 5 year warranty expired, they would not replace the coil. Too bad, tough luck. I would implore anyone reading this to not purchase Goodman products or have them installed in newly constructed home.

When we bought our house, we thought getting a new AC would be a good idea.
When we bought our house, we thought getting a new AC would be a good idea. The old one hadnt been properly maintained and summer was approaching. We had a new outside unit installed, plus new furnace (gas), and air handler. Everything worked great for the first two summers. The 16 SEER unit did a good job keeping up with the blazing Georgia heat, and our electrical bill wasnt too bad. 20 months after it was installed, the motor failed on the outside unit. The compressor was running, but the fan wouldnt turn.I just had the guy out from the company that installed it, and he verified its the motor. So, I now have to wait for a new motor to ship and then be replaced. In all, this is going to cost me $350 in shipping and labor (yes, Im paying shipping, too). It was good while it lasted, but, talk about buyers remorse. This will definitely be my last Goodman product. That includes anything from Daikin (Amana, for example). You lost my business.
