AC heater air handler unit - When installed my house flooded. Phoned the installer, I did everything correctly. Phoned Goodman company, was told if I can wait a month they will send someone to look at it. This is right after installation. They said he did not unplug something so it was emptying in the house - my house is carpeted, its in the kitchen/dining room, living room and passageway to the bedrooms dripping wet. He came, said it was fixed. Used it for a month, and it was not used for 2 years. Now its flooding again and its freezing up above the filter. Turned off for a week and tried again - frozen. Thawed it out and just turned it off. This unit is a piece of crap and Goodman should be closed. I had a Trane for 20 years no problem and lightning hit the compressor. So after him pressuring me to change the unit for nearly $4,000 dollars, I got ripped off. Wish I had all the information on this unit but its mislaid. Will try and locate.

Purchased a Goodman 16 seer a/c unit and air handler. The motor in air handler failed in less than 3 months. Had to pay $200.00 additional labor to have it replaced. Very poor quality control. Now very worried what will go out next. Took a week to get new motor in 90 plus Florida heat. Highly recommend you not buy Goodman product.

We had a Goodman heat pump installed less than 5 years ago and it has been nothing but problems since. We have had to have numerous parts replaced, coolant, motor, fan....... The list goes on and on. As I write this our house is 90 degrees (typical August in NC) and weve been without AC since yesterday. The whole blower is gone now. Ive never heard anything good about these units and anybody who buys one will likely get ripped off. Our electric bill has nearly doubled in the winters since weve had this thing and increased in the summer months also. It runs constantly but can never seem to keep up even though its the same size as the one we replaced....... which by the way was a Rheem that lasted 17 years with maybe 2 service calls the whole time.

In 2011, I had two Goodman split units (upstairs and downstairs) installed. With minor parts calls, for the most part they have worked OK. I purchased Goodman Goodcare Extended Warranties (10 year) coverage on parts and labor. It is Oct 2019 (8 years of operation) and the main floor outside unit 3.5 ton unit compressor failed. The largest HVAC vendor (also a Goodman dealer) in the area will only cover the parts but not honor the labor warranty. The answer back is that Goodman is either slow or never reimburses the dealers/vendors on labor and so the vendors wont honor it. I called Goodman for other HVAC vendors to call. From the list they provided of vendors, two are no longer in business, and the other says they will not honor the labor warranty either. :(

(8-20-15) Our house had a Lennox heat pump system that came with a new house made in 2006. It nearly broke me financially with repairs and the straw broke when my family was on the cold side during last winter. I called Recker and Boerger this year and they gave us a bid on a brand-new GOODMAN 16 SEER 4-ton unit armed with a scroll compressor, matching variable air handler, 5-year parts and labor warranty on the entire unit, 10-year parts after the 5 years is up, and a LIFETIME scroll compressor replacement guarantee in the event that the compressor fails for any reason--providing it stays at the same house it was installed in. I explained in great detail to the R&B salesman that my family had been through hell with winter and repair costs and we really needed some good service. This Goodman unit we got installed is fabulous. Its quiet, powerful and it slowly brings up the air speed in the house and slowly reduces to almost not notice it. The outdoor 4-ton unit is quiet enough for people to carry a conversation without missing a single pronunciation...its that quiet! Please do yourself a favor and take the time to tell your installing contractor and they will come through for you like they did us. Make it personal, get to know them a little by offering some lunch (pizza and pop) like we did, and they will do a PERFECT JOB for you...providing they have the ability. Our final cost was that they took off 3% of the price (paid cash with a 401K loan) and they threw in a free HEPA whole house filtration system and half off of a forced air HVAC humidifier. I saved ~$600 + I got back $200 from Duke Energy for a qualifying energy saving system!!! Win, win, win. People, we love this unit and my wife thinks I am a superhero now. Everybody is happy and the contractors left with a full belly and a thank you. Take care of people and they will take care of you.

Purchased a renovated foreclosed home with a brand new Goodman heat pump and air handler. I learned the unit was installed in Oct. 2014 and I purchased my home in March 2015. During that time the house was unoccupied because it was for sale. Goodman will extend warranty from 5 years to 10 if you register within 60 days installation. Even though my situation is identical to a new home sale Goodman refused my extension two times. Their customer service is pathetically poor.

I purchased the extended warranty through our local One Hour Heating and Air (now out of business). This covered a total replacement installation in 2009 of: a Furnace/Coil downstairs; heat pump/air handler unit upstairs; two outdoor units. Evaporator coil sprung a leak last week and I checked my warranty online and on the phone w/ Goodman and they confirmed my coverage for parts and labor. Called one of their authorized Asure techs and he came out and told me the coil wasnt covered.Everything (all serial numbers for furnace, heat pump/air handler, two outdoor units) was covered and registered EXCEPT, they had no record of the serial number for the coil. They all start with similar #s (0905, 1001) yet that one serial number for the coil isnt among what they have. Im beyond angry, especially after reading that thats the part that may have been defective upon install!! *sigh* They said the only recourse I had was to present them with a RECEIPT from 2009 showing that coil on there! After confirming the furnace was covered online, I didnt even consider keeping the receipt. Lesson learned there, I suppose. I will be calling them back today and try and dig a bit deeper. This is ridiculous.

Nov 21, 2019 Warranty with lots of loopholes. I have bought a few Goodman furnaces in the last few years. I flip houses for a living and have rentals. I used to think they were a good value. Just had some warranty issues with 2 units.! Four years old bad induced draft motor. And plugged heat exchanger. The second one 5 years old bad blower motor. I called Goodman about both units and they would not honor either warranty. If you do buy one make sure it is registered and the date it was made not just installed. And when I took another look at the warranty it is not covered if bought on the internet. I currently am talking to a few attorneys about their warranty practice and what can be done. I will never buy a Goodman or Dykin Ever again.

With proper maintenance, a furnace should last two years or more but Goodman doesnt even have a half life. I put in the first Goodman 10 years ago. The heat exchanger failed in less than two years and the entire furnace was replaced under warranty in March 2007. I had to pay for labor. The heat exchanger has now failed again at the end of winter, rendering the furnace dangerous and unusable. Nobody local has a heat exchanger so it must be shipped from Texas. Im told to pay for shipping and labor. Despite talking to Goodman on the phone, the company didnt tell me it would be backordered nor would it airship to me despite the weather. A consumer affairs supervisor never called me back. My family will be without heat in the Northeast for about three weeks because of Goodmans failure as a quality manufacturer and one whose customer service is disrespectful, unresponsive and extremely poor. Do not ever consider a Goodman and if your HVAC company or supplier recommends Goodman - find a different company because they reflect the companies they carry.

Evaporator coil went bad after 3.5 years (known issue) with Goodman search the web for complaints. I have a 10 year warranty after fighting with Goodman on registering the unit for a new house. My HVAC guy files for warranty. The approval took a week then it took Goodman another week to inform as to COVID19 we are backed logged and dont know when the part will be in stock.Given the amount of people who have the same issue with Goodman one would expect Goodman to have this part in the warehouses. Sadly no warehouses have the part and what was in stock as to the known issue with summer starting those in stock were taken. I have never seen an HVAC system have this issues after 3.5 years. My parents had an Amana hvac from 1980s which was replaced in 1999 that ran with no issues which came with the house. After my 10 year warranty now 7 years left is done if I have issues I will get a Trane with spending the extra money so I do not have to worry about odd issues occurring.

Since we had our 2 Goodman air conditioners installed we have had nothing but troubles. 4 times now the coil in one or both have had to be replaced at approx. $583.00 each. Then a small part on the compressor failed to the tune of $1200.00. Now the compressor itself failed and we are waiting on a quote to get it replaced. Keep in mind this is all labor only as the units are still under warranty for parts. The math is simple, more than $3000.00 and counting to constantly repair these units. They are garbage. The Goodman AC company should STOP producing ACs immediately. They are faulty. I will be contacting a lawyer.

A brand new Goodman/Amana A/C was installed in my home in 2011. The condenser coil leaked and had to be replaced in 2012. In 2014, coil leaked; it was patched and freon recharged. In 2015, freon leaked, was now attributed to the evaporator coil. In the four years since the new unit was installed, I have spent over $1000 for labor replacing BOTH coils and freon recharges. Basically, the product is a piece of junk and major parts need to be replaced - not anyone expects of a new equipment. Is there collusion between the manufacturer and the A/C service provider: one sells product that should be pulled from the market, the other recommend the product and makes money by labor charges?

Bought Goodman. Never again. 2 burnt blower motors and now a defective evaporator coil and on top of that my installer said it’s all warrantied through Goodman for 10 years but now Goodman says they will not warranty the units for 10 years; only 5 because a form was not filed within 90 days from install. This is bull. It’s because they are in a class action lawsuit about having lot and lots of defective coils and so theyre trying to get out of covering their 10 year warranty on a technicality and because they know their stuff will only last for 5 year and now turning the blame on homeowners for their installing company negligence in not filing their paperwork timely by saying, Oh that’s the homeowners responsibility to file the warranty paperwork and if they don’t we will penalize them for our defective products.Let’s face it. Paperwork or not it should not affect the warranty. If their stuff was built right from the beginning and they felt a 10 year warranty was proper then filing a form should not matter. It does not change the MFG date or the install date or the way they make their products. They have not heard the last from me. This is just a start.Buy Trane not Goodman and save your self lots of headaches. Dealing with Goodman’s customers service is a joke just a headache. I’m not asking for labor charges or the 10 lbs of Freon that was lost due to their defective coils just to stand behind their 10 year policy and provide the parts to replace their known bad inferior parts for the 10 year period they promised. If youre looking for HVAC work do your homework. Check out the net for all the people having issues with Goodman then buy something else more reliable like American Standard or Trane. I wish I did.

We installed a 2008 model Goodman furnace in 2009. Last winter, we had a long, long cold streak and I had 6 different HVAC guys out to try to repair it. The last guy finally replaced the motherboard and it worked fine after that. Now, here we are in 2014 and the first cold spell of the winter and NO heat AGAIN!! Last year I had to spend $941. So far this year, $144. Plus last year we had to stay in a hotel for 4 nights because we couldnt get anyone to come and fix it due to the prolonged cold weather. Last year when we tried to file a warranty claim for the control board we were informed that because we didnt call them when the furnace was installed, our warranty ended after just 5 years! What a crock! NEVER, NEVER TAKE A CHANCE WITH THIS CRAPPY FURNACE!! Buyer beware!!!! SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!

First of all, Im not the type to write a review every time I experience something or go on YELP every time I go to a restaurant. Actually this is my first time ever writing a review. But this experience has really gotten under my skin. My Goodman gas furnace went out last Saturday. I am a mechanic by trade and have worked on many RV gas furnaces so of course I checked it out myself. I took the cover off of the unit and figured out in a few minutes that the problem was that the squirrel cage was in a bind. Therefore not able to spin to push hot air through the duct because the cage was laying against the shroud that the motor and cage sits in. And what had caused this was that one of the brackets supporting the motor had broken a weld. Apparently, it had been running this way for a while because the bearings in the motor were shot. So, even if the bracket was rewelded the problem wouldnt be cured because the bearings are shot making the motor shaft tilt which the cage rides on. Therefore the outcome would be the same. So I called Goodman and of course they were closed on weekends. Which is understandable. Monday I called and after getting forwarded to 3 different people I finally reached someone in the warranty department. I gave them the model and serial number and they said that the unit was under warranty because it is only 2 years old. Well, thats good I thought to myself. But, this is the kicker. I explained the problem, which is very simple I thought. But they wouldnt take my word for it. I was told that I had to call a professional that was a Goodman dealer to check it out so they {THE DEALER} could call it in and order the part. So I had to call a heating & air company and pay them a service call and labor just to tell me the same thing that I already knew. That was all done on Monday. Later that day the heating & air company called and told me that the order was placed and ordered. But I would be responsible for the shipping, which I dont agree with. I asked when I should expect the new parts. They said probably Friday. The parts were coming from Texas, which should be a 4 day delivery time, since Im in NC. Meanwhile the temperature is in the 30s cause its January. You would think that they would rush delivery the parts. Its now the following Saturday and still no parts and Im still without heat. I went and bought an electric heater but it only heats one room. Hindsight I would have been better off buying the parts online for less money but Goodman wouldnt give me the part number for the part I need. Now Ive spend $150.00 for the service call and labor and I expect the shipping to be at least $50.00. Not counting the $120.00 electric heater I had to buy. So much for WARRANTY... I am very unsatisfied with the GOODMAN products and even more with the customer service. Needless to say the next house I build will not have anything GOODMAN in it.

Brought a unit from Goodman on 3/7/17. Installed the unit for my customer on 3/9/17. On 3/11/17 they had to evacuate from their home because of the smell because the heat exchanger is bad. Also the children got sick and the parents got headaches and had them for 3 days. Goodman said they couldnt give us a new heater and the homeowner no longer wants this furnace in their home. They do not want no tech from Goodman at their home. They want to be reimbursed. The Manager Michael ** was the most unsympathetic person I dealt with in my life. Instead of just reimbursing the homeowner he is making it difficult for them. He wants us to pay a tech from Goodman to deem it bad when we purchase the unit not even a week ago. I will never recommend Goodman to any of my customers and homeowners and I have been doing heating for over 25 years and I know what I am talking about. Do not purchase a heater from Goodman. They didnt care about children getting sick and they had the homeowners without heat for 5 days and will not reimburse them with their money. I am appalled they only care about one thing taking money from customers. They didnt try to help at all. You will never see our business again. I also suggest to you Michael ** learn how to be a manager the way you handle this situation is uncalled for.

In 2020, I purchased a 16 SEER Air Conditioning unit and a cased evaporator
In 2020, I purchased a 16 SEER Air Conditioning unit and a cased evaporator coil after the coils on my old Carrier unit (which I loved) failed due to age. Since the new coil required an updated refrigerant, I decided to replace the AC unit as well. The installation went smoothly, and the unit (although failing to cool quite as well as its predecessor) has been functioning without issue. Fast forward to last weekend, when I received a letter from Goodman, stating that they were issuing a voluntary recall on their evaporator coil drain pans (“under abnormal conditions, the drain pans may overheat, deform and melt, posing a fire hazard”). Of course, whenever I see the words “fire hazard”, I sit up and take notice. I immediately contacted Goodman and found out that my unit was affected. Initially, I was impressed that they quickly sent out a replacement kit - which took only a couple of days to arrive at my home. But unfortunately, my experience has accelerated downhill from there. Goodman provides their own technicians to effect these types of repairs - apparently because these dealers are willing to complete the job at a rock bottom price. As a homeowner, I have specific vendors that I have trusted over the years who know me and my home, and I would prefer to have the repairs effected by the HVAC company that has performed my service for many years. Goodman does allow for these “third-party” repair preferences, and my HVAC company was able to price out the job. Unfortunately, when they filed their claim with Goodman, they determined that only a nominal amount would be disbursed, and that the balance (which was over $600) would have to be covered at my expense. Think: “You totaled your $40,000 vehicle, and the insurance company is only prepared to issue you a check for $20,000”. Since discovering that I am on the hook for $600+ in order for Goodman’s problematic part to be repaired correctly (and which I would think they would want to avoid fixing “on the cheap”, since they apparently didn’t get the original design correct in the first place), I have tried every avenue I could think of to avoid having to foot such a large bill myself: 1. I talked to my HVAC company to determine if there was any way they could affect the repair for less. Nope. Replacing the pan will require removing that coil, and that’s a two-man job. 2. I called Goodman’s recall department (which - although staffed by friendly people - is really just a call center). They said they couldn’t help and directed me to the main Goodman number. 3. I called the main Goodman number and was told that they have technicians that have agreed to the rock bottom “you get what you pay for” price, and that if I don’t want to use one of those, I’ll have to pay the difference myself. Gives new meaning to the term “paying customer”. 4. I asked what this rock bottom price was. After a brief hold, I was told that Goodman cannot release the actual amount of the rock bottom price. 5. I asked to speak to a supervisor. After some recalcitrance, I was finally connected with said supervisor, who rendered the same explanation. In essence: “You have to use one of our techs-who-you-have-knowledge-of-and-cannot-vouch-for-the-quality-of-their-work-and-oh-by-the-way-they’ve-agreed-to-do-the-repair-for-the-rock-bottom-price-that-we-won’t-tell-you-what-it-is or else you must pay the difference yourself”. 6. After thinking about things, I decided to try to vet their list of vendors to see if I could indeed go with one of them. I called Goodman back and was immediately told that Goodman doesn’t release the names of these vendors. “You can go to our website for a list of certified Goodman vendors, but there’s no guarantee that the one you call is the one that has agreed to do the repair. And oh, by the way, our process is not for you to call them. They will contact you when they are able to fit you in to the 500,000+ repairs that have to be made”. Needless to say, at this point, frustration levels were through the roof. Continuing... 7. I opened the Goodman website and found a list of certified vendors - scrolling through them and using the point-and-click method, coupled with “they have a nice sounding name” to pick one at random. I found a vendor after a few minutes, checked their reviews (they were good), and called. I was immediately connected to a receptionist who promptly dropped my call. I called back, got the same receptionist, and was able to talk for about 30 seconds before she dropped my call again. 8. I called a second vendor and was told that they weren’t sure whether or not they did Goodman recall repairs. They would get back with me once their service manager had an opportunity. No call came that day. 9. I called my home warranty company to see if they could help with my $600+ passed-along-to-customer cost. They were very nice, and nicely told me that my warranty does not cover manufacturer recalls. So, that pretty much brings the saga up-to-date. I absolutely loathe feeling so defeated, and have pretty much resigned myself to paying $600+ to correctly repair Goodman’s defective manufacturer part. This was my first Goodman unit, and - one thing I can absolutely promise - it will definitely be my last.

I bought a 15 seer heat pump from Goodman Manufacturing. This is my worst mistake ever, less than 5 years evaporator coil started leaking out Freon. 2 pounds to start with, then 1 year later 5 pounds. Unless you like spending enormous amounts of money on Freon ($45 per pound), and $75 per hour labor, do not buy a goodman heat pump or air conditioner. The amount of rust around the evaporator coil is unbelievable. Their warranty is a ** warranty. The warranty is only as good as the product, and the product is only as good as the warranty. Please do some research and don’t buy goodman products. I thought it said made in America. Its made with defective parts, please look at all their negative reviews. I had a Rheem that lasted 31 years and a carrier 33 years.

I have an Amana furnace that just had the heat exchanger fail. It was letting life threatening amounts of CO into our home. It was still under warranty. My HVAC contractor contacted the distributor who said the exchanger was no longer made but offered a replacement Goodman. I was advised by contractor to ask for an Amana because Goodman heat exchangers do not last in Propane service. I offered to pay any price difference. The distributor said he would have to call the factory and get back to me in 2 days. I advised him I was without heat at 18F. He said he would call back with an answer the next morning. Never received a call so I called back at the end of the day. He was rude and put off and told me, I guess you should have just taken the Goodman. I asked to speak with his supervisor and he refused. I have since called Goodman directly 2 times and have just been given the run around. You can only speak with a random operator who just takes some your information and you never hear back from anyone. It has been 1 week with no answers and still no heat. Thanks Goodman for a substandard product and the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I bought a Goodman heat pump model GsZ160361bd, serial no 1903096018 brand new and had it installed by a “license technician“. The unit broke in less than 18 months and required repairs that cost me approximately $1600 in labor. The part were covered by the manufacturer. But no customer should have to spend that much money on a heat pump that was purchased new. I believe Goodman Manufacturing has junk heat pumps and I recommend anyone looking to buy a new unit to look at the other manufacturer. Also make sure it is a sister brand name to Goodman. The customer support is of no use to the customer who purchased their product. All you get is scripted reply to call a license contract to fix their junk product! At your own cost! This is a real experience. Do not buy!

So after reading good reviews and hearing good things about Goodman, I decided to fork out the money and pay to have a brand new Goodman heat pump packaged unit installed before winter gets here. Well needless to say that Id much rather have my 13 year old unit back in. The HVAC service company installed a new 3-Ton Packed heat Pump in on the 23rd of November. Its been almost two weeks and already Im very disappointed in this unit. Yes it may be a little bit quieter but it definitely does not get as warm as my York did. The funny thing is that they are both the same size. Im an engineer so I took my infrared thermal gun along with my Fluke Thermometer to record over a two day period what the min., avg.,and max. temps coming out the ducts were. This past weekend the outside air temp was around 42-45 deg. F.. This isnt all that cold outside but needless to say that having my thermostat left on 73 all weekend left for some warm to even bitter air temps inside the house. My house is basically a brand new house with all new dry walls and insulation. After recording the temps, the lowest air temp the hvac pumped out was 64.8, the average was 78.6, and finally the max. temp was 96.8. Only 96.8? That is ridiculous for it being only 42 degrees outside. My 13 year old York heat pump unit would put out at least 110-115 max in that weather. Needless to say I will never buy a Goodman again after losing all the money that I have. Im scared to see how cold its going to be in this house when it is 0-5 degrees and snowing outside. Im more than likely going to have to bite the bullet on this one and buy a whole new unit from York, Trane, or even a Lennox.

We purchased a complete Goodman system from our HVAC company just a little over 5 years ago. It has already had a total system failure twice. The first time, the part had to be ordered and took about a week to get. This time, the blower has failed, and has to be replaced. The expected time is 2 weeks with no system. I cant believe at only 5 years, 2 major components fail. We live in a metro area of over 1,000,000 people, I dont know why parts are not readily available? That must be a sign of the volume of sales they have. In our opinion, these are very very low quality. No decent system would have 2 complete system failures at 5 years. And to think that a blower motor would fail at 5 years is a clear sign of the poor quality workmanship.

Was told repair cost would be $$128.00 Serv. call + $800.00 labor +$150.00 Frt!! Repair cost too high, went out to Carter Lumber in Toledo and purchased a NEW furnace for LESS than the repair cost!! The location was at my rental property and all installations are done by me. Model ARUF486016BA Air handler. In this blog, I am not suggesting that you have to buy the very best and most expensive air-conditioner on the market, but just beware of doing business with Goodman. All of us who have owned homes and had to incur the expense of a new heat near unit are typically replacing units that are 15 to 20 years old not 7. I bought the Goodman 4 ton heat pump in early 2008. In 2010 I had a refrigerant leak so I called my repair company and they informed me that the evaporator coil which is the main coil in the air handler was bad and had a leak. He informed me then, that this was a very common problem. He had the coil replaced under warranty which I was shocked he did not cover the labor and $500 later my AC was working.About a year ago my AC wasnt cooling so I called the company and they came in and put some Freon and it and told me once again the coil was leaking. I asked them if they could get a hold of Goodman and/or the distributor to see if they would replace the old part once again they said no. I had them charge the unit up at $150 and it bought me another year. I just priced repairing the unit and it will be approximately $1200. I figured I would call Goodman and see if they would potentially replace that product once again given the class-action suits that Ive seen on the Internet and unhappy customers all over the United States. I spoke to the first line of communications and she informed me know theres nothing we I can do and I should just replace the whole unit. My question of her was do you have $5000 to spend on a condition of your house?I spoke to a supervisor this morning and pleaded my case and she had the audacity to say the evaporator coils may not have been installed properly or theyre not in a safe environment for our products. Really! The repair company that Ive been dealing with for so many years told me they havent sold Goodman products in a few years because of the problems they had. It is very interesting that pretty much the only AC units on eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist are Goodman units. I am going to replace my unit with another brand and one thing I learned is you dont have to spend top dollar on the unit, but to do have to do your diligence and feel comfortable with the manufacturer of the product. Shame on you Goodman Corporation for peddling that junk. No wonder there are class-action suits out there.

I had a 95% AFUE GMH95 gas furnace installed in June of 2009. Furnace carries a 10 year parts warranty. In 2015 the inducer pump melted and caught fire. I had the Installation company come out to see this. Was told there was too much damage to replace parts and cables burned. Would need to be replaced. I filed a claim with customer assurance and continually hounded them for the status of this claim. A month later with temperatures now below freezing a representative from distributor and the installer came out to see damage which I already had sent picture to Goodman. Was told I would be notified next Monday. Another week goes by. No word. E-mailed customer assurance rep. for my case and received out of office reply with a phone number to call for assistance. I basically got the run around. A week later I tried again and also left voicemail. I finally called Goodman consumer affairs and spoke with a live person. After explaining the situation and the fact that my representative is not responding for over a month now I was then transferred to the same customer assurance rep. and listened to the same OGM telling me to call consumer affairs. Yes, a complete circle. It seems they just want to avoid this issue. So I called again and got a different live person who said Hold on I need to check something and was immediately disconnected. Now I feel I should let others know about the worst customer service experience that I have ever been through. So much for the 10 year warranty.

Seems like I have a common problem with several consumers that have purchased a Goodman HVAC system. I built my house in 2009 and the builder installed 2 units, upper and lower. Every year I experienced issues with both units. We had to replace the coils and fan in the lower unit, we have to add Freon every year, $500+ because the units stop cooling. Ive spent well over $3000 for parts and labor. Now, looks like the upper unit continues to fail and the Goodman customer service department acts like the company has no concern for a resolution. My warranty expired after 5 years, because I too never received registration papers for an extended warranty.

I live in the NW and had my old unit replaced 6-2020 with a Goodman unit. The unit ran fine but was air only we have gas heat. So that said it only ran for app. 20 day in 2020. This year as temperatures rose in late June it started running for an additional 7 day then died completely by July 16th. That means this unit actually only lasted new for 37 days of A/C service. If it was a heat pump unit delivering heat that would have likely only lasted 1 month. That cost over 2500.00 for one months usage! No one wants to work on it. Just charge over 200.00 to diagnose the compressor is junk. We are left to suit the dealer who claimed 12 year parts & service extended Warranty on our contract in writing, and buy a real A/C unit that will last.Over 30 days usage. At my last home I sold in 2017 we put in a unit in 1997 upon our purchasing the home. It was a heat pump running all summer & winter. When we sold the home it still ran flawlessly 20 years later! Goodman should cease selling such cheap, undependable garbage to unsuspecting customer by shady dealers.

Never did I have to touch controls, just set the thermostat at my desired temperature and it would turn on and off without my help. Same in winter. First Unit: Would not heat without kicking on strips. Thirteen service calls and 4 years later, it was finally addressed. Second Unit: 2nd year, capacitor failed. 3rd year, same capacitor failed. 4th year, outside unit fan failed. Had a couple of other smaller issues, too. Also purchased 10 year parts/labor warranty with Goodman. Apparently not. Even though I have an invoice that states what I purchased, Goodman will not recognize the labor warranty. Made many calls to get the issue addressed and they would not listen. I can understand one or two problems, but not many significant problems, continually on two separate new units. We keep temp 78 in summer and 68 in winter, so not an overworked system. Carry your business elsewhere or set a dinner plate for the regular serviceman as we did.

Recently bought a home from a popular bullet in my city. Love everything about my new home BUT the furnace and air conditioner (both Goodman). Ill be honest the disappointment and disbelief that a new unit could have so much trouble in the first few years is just insane! Im on the board for my neighborhood H.O.A., and Im one of MANY that has had very very similar problems. Sure the builder cut cost by installing cheaper system in 89 homes in my area! The local heat and air company that installed it per builder has the greatest reviews all over the network and BBB! They have been very very helpful and cutting down repair cost because they feel sorry! So, in the last three years Ive had a leak on BOTH coils, then new coil came with filter dryer that also leaked in same year, and now I have a restriction in the piston that coils quite possibly be metal shaving from inner compressor! Also replaced circuit board on furnace and also in the first year the blower wheel came loose and tore up the blower motor! Goodman is a disgrace to HVAC industry! Ive seen it all over internet, fellow HVAC techs, and neighbors! Nobody but this equipment EVER. Year four this summer, I had some extra cash and changed out the full system! Bought new Trane furnace and heat pump combo!

8 year unit, installed in a new house in 2013, Houston TX. 5 Ton. The coil was broken in 2017, had to replace it. This year 2021 the condenser had leaks EVERYWHERE! This was installed in a new built home. My husband passed away suddenly 2 days before the day of the closing back in 2013, and I had no time or clear head to learn about warranties. The crooked contractor never registered the unit under my name, and therefore when it broke this year I could not claim any warranty. Laws in Texas only benefit corporations but not the individuals. The manufacturers will give better price to contractors with licenses, and higher prices to home owners. If you own your house, make sure you register any device you buy under your name, specially if you are a lady, try to avoid service companies to buy devices. Most contractors (installers, distributors, repair companies) in Texas are vultures, awful rats, they will take your money and never disclose the real price they get from manufacturers. Goodman ethics sucks, same as the contractor JDS (David Sanabria) in Houston. For HVAC units save yourself aggravation and pain: Go with RHEEM, Bryant or Carrier.

In 2009, nearing the finish line of my post-Hurricane Katrina rebuild, I had two new Amana HVAC heat pumps installed. Less than 2 years later, one started malfunctioning and I was told the coils had a leak. Second opinion said no, but the problem persisted as the coolant apparently did leak out over time. Last year, the coils on the downstairs unit appeared to have a leak. I have a parts warranty but the labor runs between $800-$1000 per unit. I called Amana, unaware that this was a common problem, and the customer service rep could just have well sent me a picture of her middle finger with the attitude and complete lack of concern she showed. I guess the volume of complaints had her on edge. I did a lot of research before I bought these units and I had faith in the company. I never would have imagined I would have this much trouble in such a short period of time, as my old units had been in service for at least the 17 years since Id bought the house with only minor repairs, never coils or compressors. Ive been screwed by just about every contractor that set foot in my house but was happy to find a good HVAC company that didnt screw me on service, but the product is just BAD. I cant believe Goodman/Amana doesnt care enough about its reputation to address its customers concerns. Theyve changed their policies about it several times from what I can discern and now theres a class action suit against them. I teach marketing at a university and would love to give them some lessons because theyre in serious need. Bad moves, Goodman. Many bad moves. Im reluctant to pursue a class action suit because their lawyers will make millions and Ill get something like a $100 voucher, but maybe a private suit is in order. 4 years ago I had both inside and outside units replaced for peace of mind at retirement. Outside unit is a Goodman 4 ton and inside is a Miller furnace in a Modular home. This unit for 4 years has blown water into the plenum and soaked it so bad, I am sure it needs full replacement now. Then 4 years in a row the fine Goodman outside unit has failed in midsummer and is down again right now. It has had coils replaced and compressors replaced and is still under warranty, but when ac repair crew gets out here again maybe Tuesday, I am going to cut my losses and have this junk removed from my sight. It is still under warranty, but I see no reason to keep this unit in service. Right now I think it is the compressor out again, that will be number 3. This needs to be completely removed and everything repaired under furnace to stop water and mold. Cant believe they can sell such poor equipment to people in this country. I will now being retired have to buy and pay for install of another unit and they can take this Goodman with its warranty to the landfill site. DO NOT BUY A GOODMAN UNIT, UNLESS YOU WANT CONSTANT REPAIRS AND EXPENSE ON YOUR PART.

Let me start out by saying Im a HVAC business owner for 24 years and I will no longer be installing Goodman equipment. The reason is that Ive needed technical help on a few jobs in the last month and the Tech Desk was the worse Ive dealt with out of any manufacturer. They were short, didnt give me many things to try and after I told them what Ive already tried, they were like I dont know. I kept asking them what other things I can try and they just repeated themselves giving me no new things to try. Ive always had great help with other Tech help with other brands and they always helped me figure it out. But Goodman Tech help was worthless the 4 times I dealt with them. They all must really hate their job and take it out on the Service people that call in. Ive been installing Goodman on and off since it was Janitrol. They were helpful and nice years ago. I havent had to call in for Tech help in years and man have they changed. The most arrogant, rudest ** Ive ever talked to. They all need to be fired and hire new Techs and retrain them. Otherwise this company will fall within 5 years the path they are on. I see many other 1 star reviews on here which means this companys Customer Service sucks. Wake up Goodman and if you cant see all these negative reviews, you people in corporate are the dumbest people on earth and you deserve to fail. If I owned a huge company such as Goodman and I see all these negative reviews, I would do undercover calls and find out who all the filth and garbage is within the company and fire them. A new training regimen must be enacted immediately for customer service. New management must be put in place. Out with the old and in with the new.

I purchased a heat pump in 11/2011 and then started to have a lot of problems in 2015. It was noisy running also. Then on 5/15 was my 1st service call and they found a hole in the coil which leaked freon. Had to be repaired and added freon. Then 4/2016 it stopped working completely. Another service call and they had to replace the compressor and defrost control unit. At least they were under warranty, but I had to pay for service call and freon. Thats not cheap either. On July 8 warm air came thru vents. Serviceman had to add more freon and changed the schraders. More money. This lasted a week and back to warm air again. Another call another hole in coil and more freon. This lasted a month so now its Aug. 2016 and Im sitting here in my house with temp of 95 and outside temp of 98. I have so much money out for service calls and freon, that Ive decided that I am going to have to buy a new heat pump when this one isnt even 5 yrs. old. But with all the money going for repairs, I could have put in a new one. I trusted the dealer for the quality of Goodman products, but since all these troubles Ive read all the unsatisfactory notations and Im adding to it. In fact the customer service girl at Goodman hung up on me when I told her I would never recommend this company to anyone. Hows that for rude employees!! I would like to get some of my money back if its possible. I wrote to Goodman asking for this, but I doubt if I will because they dont care. They dont even make my model anymore, so it must have been bad to begin with. I hope other people read the reviews about Goodman before they purchase anything and dont buy from them. I purchased this gas furnace about three years ago for my old folks, and they are yet to experience any problems with the pump. During summer, the house is evenly cooled as well as being equally warmed during the winter season. The furnace is quite expensive but according to my experience, the quality is worth the high price. Many expensive products are believed to be of high quality but last longer. I would buy this product again and also I would, without a doubt, recommend it to anyone.

Brand new system has had problems from the start. Multiple repairs have been attempted to remedy an unacceptable noise. Still sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle, which everyone agrees is unacceptable, but nobody can diagnose or fix. Further, the unit leaks a rusty fluid into the pan, and there is condensation/corrosion in the supply plenum which the installer said should never leak.

I have a Goodman heat pump that was installed in Dec 2009. It started leaking freon last year. Just 2 pounds. This year it started freezing up. Guess what? Needs more freon and r22 is high. Just found out r22 production will cease in 2016. This unit is leaking like crazy. Called Goodman. They say my unit is out of warranty because it wasnt registered in first 60 days. What? Is this a gimmick? Thought it came with a 10-year warranty. Seems like a easy way for them to get out of warranty for their products.Ive had cheap Walmart window units last longer than this piece of junk and way cheaper. I found a new a-coil for sale on internet for 500 bucks but found out it might leak when installed new. The a/c company said they would install one for 1500$. Are you kidding. This unit is out of warranty 6 months. Would have been better off paying extra for something better. Overall this will cost me much more in the long run. Goodman customer service is terrible as the guy there just kept saying to call one of their dealers. In my opinion Goodman needs to go out of business or do whats right and fix these faulty units.

Heat pump 4 years old - spent 2500$ in repairs already. The very first year, we had to replace the condenser, the second year, the coils, the third year we have had to replace the tubing soldering. The parts are warranty but the labor is not, it has costs us 800 to 900 dollars a year. We have called Goodman and they say, the parts are under warranty but we are responsible for the labor to repair these parts. I have asked that extend our warranty or replace the unit. I can get no help. There is no logical reason for the major items in a brand new unit purchased in 2013 have so many bad parts. Customer service is HORRIBLE, no help at all. Do not buy!

Our 15 year old TRANE air conditioner was ready to be replaced. I called around and read reviews and we chose NorthCentralFloridaAirConditioning. We paid about $7400.00 which I had to put on my credit card. They installed it in September 2019. To date we have had them come out to TRY and fix it at least ELEVEN times and it’s not a year old. Being elderly and in the middle of a pandemic doesn’t make it easier either. It would just stop working. After working in the yard and the heat index in the 100s is not fun coming in the house with an air conditioner not working at all.Ray- the boss and owner-and those that came out were nice and they did try to fix it. It’s not the company but the product. I hope we never ever have to buy a FRANKLIN AC ever again. We had a TRANE for 15 years and never had a problem with It until about a year before we got the FRANKLIN. Sales person assured me that FRANKLIN is better than a TRANE. We did let the manufacturer know about this and they noted this and gave us a case number. They put in a hard start kit which seems to be working for now. Manufacturer said not all units need that. Uh, why didn’t they just include this from the beginning!! This has been a true nightmare. Dena **

In July of 2012 I purchased a Goodman System for my Condominium in Ossining New York. I was a little skeptical because I had never heard of Goodman but was assured it was made by Amana and was a good, reliable brand and somewhat less expensive than the name brands. I was told by the company that installed it that it had a good warranty... 10 years in fact so not to worry. I had routine maintenance done on schedule and in April of 2018 began having trouble with the A.C. Serviceman repaired and recommended a new thermostat system which I had done. Three months later the system failed again. Noticed some ice buildup on copper pipes around unit and some water on the floor. Serviceman replaced filter and cleaned outside condenser. One month later FAILED again and now told by repair service the condenser coil is no good. He said, Dont worry. Its covered under warranty... Until three hours later when Goodman told him the unit was not registered and they would not honor the warranty. Now I have the bill of sale with all documents and serial numbers yet they are telling me that I had to send in the postcard to have it registered. Its a damn 7000 unit... Like a car. I said... You dont send in postcards for cars do you? I went round and round with Goodman NON CUSTOMER SERVICE and decided to try to reach a supervisor. THEY KEPT TELLING ME THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. Well I called the corporate office and asked to be connected to the CEO a Mr. Ebisus secretary. Lo and behold I was connected to a woman named K.D. ** (Write that down folks. K.D. ** is the secretary to the CEO.) I started to explain my issue and she was trying to put me back in touch with customer service... But I convinced her to listen to the whole story (the same complaints that many of you have mentioned in these reviews) after a good 10 minutes she assured me that the head of Consumer Complaints a Mr. Preston ** would be working on my case and that she was sure he would help in the matter. She even went so far as to tell me that she was instructing him to get back to me within 2 hours with a resolution. Well... he called back and was ABSOLUTELY NO HELP AT ALL. In fact he said to me... You were never supposed to get put through to Ms. ** office. I was and I intend to make sure that both of their names are out in public so that people will know who they are and how little they care about customer service.Tomorrow, I am having a new unit installed at a discount price from TRANE which is a REAL COMPANY that backs its products. My service company was so mad at Goodman that they are eating the labor cost to install the new system. They discounted the price by 2600 DOLLARS and a 4500 price tag is now down to under 1700 which is less than the part that Goodman wanted to send me. STAY AWAY FROM GOODMAN... Tell your friends to stay away from Goodman and if anyone has a class action suit going count me in. Please call Ms. ** and Mr. ** and give them.

Last year June of 2013, there was a leak on the inside coils and it cost me 400.00 labor and prior to that I spent 350.00 to diagnose the problem. Now it is Sept 2014, the air compressor locked up and failed, now the warranty expired in 5 yrs. I am looking at a replacement cost of at least 1400.00, but Goodman honored the warranty because it was expired by 2 days. I am a new homeowner who had a nice HVAC guy install a brand-new Goodman system in my home (I chose Goodman). The red plastic logo on the outside unit broke off within two months so I simply contacted Goodman to ask for a replacement (it serves their needs well to have free advertising like that) and they flat-out refused after initially telling me it was being sent. What a horrible company. I shudder to think what will happen if/when the unit itself goes out. Already regretting this purchase. Should have gone with another more reputable manufacturer. BTW, this sign is being removed entirely. I closed on my home May 2014 and purchased your product Model: GSZ13421AG Serial:1403135510. This product is almost new and only 2 years old. It has been determined that it has a faulty piece. I feel as if I have no recourse and am stuck with this faulty product. The air conditioner is defectively designed and cracked resulting in it leaking refrigerant, thus making my unit entirely inoperable unless I pay 750.00 total. As a result, my electric bill has increased because while the unit was leaking, it required more power for adequate cooking. Because the leakage of the refrigerant from the evaporator coil left my unit completely ineffective, I am forced to pay 750.00 in total repairs to address the problem fully which will take 2 weeks.Worse, today I had to pay 79.00 for a leak search out of my pocket to determine why your product is not functioning as promised by your company. I had to pay 75.00 for the visit and 190.00 for refrigerant. Worse, I have to pay 425.00 in labor next week to have your item repaired, the bill is at 750.00 plus at this point. I am outraged. This is ridiculous. Im told that it is tough and I should pay or my house will be hot.

In 2009, I built a new house and it was finished about August of 2010. I bought a Goodman whole home system, which had an air conditioning unit, a furnace, and the inside air conditioning unit in February of 2010. Since I have had it installed by professionals, I have had nothing but trouble. The outside air conditioning unit turns on very loud and when it gets to normal speed, the fan will jolt really hard and you will hear a really loud grinding noise. This has happened since about September of 2010. We have had 3 service calls out to our house and all of them said that it needed freon or there was a fan issue. We didnt have the money for them to take it apart and find something wrong to cost even more money, so we left it alone. It still does that grinding every time it runs. Then, yesterday (9/5/2015) the outside unit was making a weird noise and the inside unit was not blowing any air into the vents of the house. The inside unit was also make a whining sound, so I shut the whole system off and went back to check it out. The pipe that goes from the outside unit to the inside unit had ice build-up all over it. I let it thaw for an hour and turned it on again to see what it would do. The outside unit will turn on fine, (still makes that grinding noise) but the inside unit will not turn on at all, so it will not blow any air to the vents. I tripped the breakers to the system to see if it would reset, and now the outside unit will not turn on at all!We called our local place to have them look at it this morning (9/6/2015). They got the outside unit working but found out that the fan for the inside unit is burned up and they dont have it in stock. If they cant fix this, I am just going to rip the whole system out and put in a Carrier or a Trane system. I cant believe a company would do this to people. Take their money and then right after the warranty expires, the whole system goes down. UNBELIEVABLE!!

We purchased (2) 25 Ton Daikin HVAC Units. Goodman Distributors in Philadelphia sold them to our contractor / we bought them from the contractor. The management at Goodman Distributors is absolutely horrible. I cannot express how angry I am at the lack of customer service & no care or desire to fix the unit. Goodman is a company owned by Daikin (manufacturer). They actually told me its the contractors problem - not theirs. Daikin built the unit / Goodman sold the unit - they then wash their hands off it - let me be clear - it work for only a few DAYS! $15,000 for 1 unit. I was instructed to call Customer Care - again - said too bad nothing they can do - call the contractor. This company and the mother company are Dirty People. I made the mistake of agreeing to purchase Daikin units. Be careful if you decide to go with a Goodman Brand - they do not stand behind their equipment. Goodman 2 Ton 13 Seer A/C unit and compressor: Bought a unit in 2009 - every year had to have them come and do something because it either did not heat or did not cool. Bought it for $2,355. In 2012 I ended up with bills over $2,400 in repairs. Whatever went wrong was NEVER a warrantied part. Watched them fix the air handler and saw the most flimsy wires ever which I was told would burn out every so often. Last couple of years, the compressor seemed to be rather noisy. Filed a complaint and now I am getting nowhere because the installer and manufacturer keep blaming the other person. IF neither accepts responsibility, then I hope to go the the media to have this resolved. Heard there is a lawsuit against Goodman Mfg. Id like to have a decent unit put in. Tired of the expense. Have a 10-year warranty and it didnt last 4 years before I had bills that added up to a new unit plus more... Go to another manufacturer.

Over the past 6 years I purchased 4 gas packs which were installed by different HVAC installers at different homes. The motor has burned up on all 4 units. Two of them burned up after 2 years, one of them lasted 3 yrs and the last one just burned up after 5.5 years. Do not buy their products. Product GPG1324070M41

Well the Goodman HVAC unit is 3 years old and 2 coils down and now a compressor. These are clearly pieces of junk. Do not buy them. Its a shame that even with a parts warranty, I will have more money in labor in 3 years than the unit cost me to begin with. Not to mention burning up in the heat of summer. Junk Period!

I bought this furnace about a year ago, and it has lowered the temperature swings and reduced my heating bills by almost half. This is all thanks to the double stage heating and a high energy efficiency of 95%.The installation was hard for me, and I was forced to hire a technician to do all the setup work and everything turned out well after that. I have not had any issues with my furnace, and I love how well it works.

I built a new house in 2012-2013. 3 separate Daikin commercial grade split units were installed. The house was completed in August of 2013 when I moved in. I noticed, in February of 2014 the unit wasnt heating the rooms on 1 of the units zones. I called the installer and spent over $900 to fix it, the company refilled the freon which was empty and left. 6 months later in August, units not working again. Long story short second repair company after two three to four visits finally identify the problem with a Daikin tech rep to be the condenser coil in the outdoor unit and evaporator coil in one of the handling units. Ive spent now $2500 to identify the problem. Daikin will not cover parts citing 1 year warranty on all but compressor for a unit that didnt even have normal residential wear and tear. Parts are $1500. I am completely dissatisfied with the lack of quality and desire to stand behind the product they manufacture here in the States for Daikin. I will never recommend or purchase another product from this company.

On 6/7/19, my 11 year old Goodman Furnace had a near catastrophic overheating which melted the main control board and ruined the entire interior of the furnace with a putrid smelling black carbon dust. After sending photographs and a detailed report from the professional installer, who has only seen such a near fire twice in his 30 year career, I was told by Senior Management, “There is nothing we can do since you are 12 months out of warranty”!After discovering that Goodman had underreported major fire issues with other products in the past and was fined by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, I have decided that I want nothing to do with this company and their utter dismissal of my complaint and request for some assistance with a completely unreasonable $4,000 expense. This highly dangerous and unusual failure of a product without any company empathy or concern, after a vigorous outreach on my part, warrants this review and a refusal for anyone who is considering putting their lives in this company’s hands, to enrich this multi-billion dollar company any further.
