Explanation for Reddit's Samsung - LG hate while website reviews are strong?
Posted On: July 8, 2023

We're in the market for getting new appliances for the entire home.

Samsung, LG, and possibly other brands get trashed a lot on Reddit.

Yet when I look at customer reviews (Costco, Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy, etc), the appliances for Samsung/LG often have more "stars" than the other brands.

Further, the professional review sites routinely put LG/Samsung at the top.

A Home Depot employee said LG/Samsung have made significant improvements in the last couple of years.

If Reddit users are basing their experiences on older model appliances, I suppose this could explain why Redditors have a negative (outdated) opinion.

However, is there another explanation for this discrepancy between Reddit and customer/professional reviews? I guess what I'm asking is, why should I trust Reddit over customer/professional reviews? .

Question from user thealimo110 at Appliances at reddit.

Answer:

People should only speak about their own experiences with different brands instead of listening to rumors.

I have had bad luck with Samsung appliances myself, but others might have better results.

Whirlpool, fridgeidaire, KitchenAid are good choices in my opinion.

I know someone who loves their LG fridge though too.
