In 2008, I purchased a washer/dryer from F&P. The person talked me into an F&P when I really wanted something else. Never hearing about this product, he convinced me it’s the best out there and their biggest seller. Boy, he was wrong! The washer sounds like a jet airplane when it spins. Sometimes, I have to spin them twice to get all the water out. The bearings in the dryer have been replaced 2-3 times, the thermostat, sensor module, and central module. Each time was at least $100 or more for a total of 5-6 times. I contacted a representative and was given a case number. Today, I called because the bearings are going again. That means another service charge. The next step will be the curb!

I am a rural American, I have used the Fisher & Paykel washing machine for 4 years and have continually smelled mold and mildew. Today, the washer spilled water all over my laundry room, so I took the entire machine apart. As I suspected, there was mold and slime all over it. Why does water sit on the bottom of this washing machine all the time and what can I do to correct this problem other than go buy a GE?

Tonight is the third time that my washer has stopped working. It does not drain now and will not power on. This washer has been nothing but trouble since purchased. I regret ever getting rid of my old washer. It was dependable. I think this is a sub-standard product and after reading the reviews here, I see that I am not the only person that feels this way. You should not have to have service on such a new product as often as you do on this. I am in good mind to just junk it and go buy a cheap regular washer that I can depend on. I am very frustrated and I am telling everyone that I know to stay away from this product. I have called customer service and left messages, but so far I have not had a return call. The customer service is horrible, too.

I bought my Fisher-Paykel dishwasher in 1/09. It worked fine for a few months, but started beeping and would stop running. I contacted Fisher-Paykel and they recommended I use the dishwasher cleaner, which I did. It ran fine for a while but again started beeping. This time I contacted Jeffers-McGill in Columbia, where I bought the dishwasher. They were very unconcerned and gave me the name of a repair company. I have had 2 technicians come, neither seemed to know how to fix it, and after paying $132, I still dont have a dishwasher that is running correctly. One of the technicians indicated it had been installed wrong. I have now spent over $200 for a $1,000 machine, and still dont have a dishwasher I can depend on. In fact, the 1st dishwasher I bought from Jeffers-McGill started giving me problems after only 2 years, at which time I bought the Fisher-Paykel. I will never buy another appliance from Jeffers-McGill, nor will my family, former good customers of theirs. What do I do now? I am very upset about spending so much money on an elite appliance that is not living up to its reputation.

We purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, which was far more expensive than any other fridge that we considered. After delivery, we called to say that it was not cooling. The technician came once and added gas. After a day, it again stopped cooling. The technician came again, realized that there was a leak, and soldered some wires. When it started working, it was noisy. We called again, and they said they would replace the fridge the following week. They sent a truck to pick up the faulty one, and when we called the store to ask when the new one would be delivered, we learned that FP had changed their mind and did not want us as customers. We were left with rotting food and no fridge.

My granddaughter was getting married and moving into a home and needed a lot of help with outfitting it so I gave her my old washer and dryer. So then I went out to an appliance store looking for a new washer and dryer and found out about Fisher & Paykel. I had good recommendation from the owner who told me that’s what he had at his house so I chose to buy this brand and I’ve been very satisfied with my first F&P washer and dryer. Really, there are some things that are much better than the previous ones we’ve owned - I think that they spin water out more and the clothes are dryer when you take them out of the washer to put them in the dryer. They don’t have as much water in them so less dry time.

I was quite surprised to read the negative comments about Fisher Paykel! After being a brand loyal kind of gal, everything I owned appliance wise was Maytag. After my Maytag dishwasher, washer and dryer broke down 4 times in a year. I decided it was time for a change. I went to my local appliance store and was just about to purchase a new washer/dryer when the salesman tried to sell me an FP. I had never heard of FP before. The salesman made quite the pitch. When I continued to shy away, finally he told me if I tried the units and didnt like them, within 60 days he would exchange both units. Okay, I gave it a shot. I love my FP washer/dryer so much I bought their double drawer dishwasher. I had to call for service once for the dryer and once for the dishwasher. Both were relatively simple problems that were fixed within 20 minutes of the serviceman entering my house. I would have to say I highly recommend Fisher Paykel.

I was excited to buy Fisher & Paykel machines. The washer is on its third lid as the plastic continues to crack. On the dryer I have replaced the plastic knob and the inside of the dryer is all cracked and peeling. I have had my water checked but these are the only appliances with a problem. Quality of plastic parts below zero. My Miele dishwasher is fine. I called F & P and the customer service rep suggested that I use harsh detergents, but I just use All detergent. No help. I will never buy another F & P product and I tell anyone who will listen of my bad experience.

I have finally purchased a different brand of range and the never-functioning, Fisher Paykel 36 dual oven range will be hauled out of here. I have replaced the entire ignition system in this range, three times. These units are not cheap and that you cannot get the larger oven to turn on, and stay on, its ridiculous. I gave up on trying to use the large oven, when, after multiple repairs, it went off, mid-way while roasting a seven rib prime rib. Christmas dinner was very late that year.

Two weeks later they came out again and said it was unfixable. We were promised a replacement that would arrive March 23rd. Never came. Promised 11th April. Never came. Promised 28th April. F-P Top Loading Washing Machine - I would never buy a F-P Product again. We purchased our machine from a local appliance store. After 3 years, the pump broke because a coin had been left in a pocket and got into the pump. We have been waiting for more than three weeks for the part, and the store said the labor cost to install the new one will be high. A machine that will be ruined by a coin slipping into the pump is not a good design. Also, this machine cannot handle anything but a light load before becoming unbalanced.

I had a Maytag that I had been suffering through with for two years and hated it unbelievably and I did not want one of those front loader machines because of all the mold and whatever issues with the door, and I have to worry about leaving the door open and cleaning the door, cleaning the machine and all that stuff for I got the Maytag and oh my God! I felt like it did a terrible job. I dont like my washing machine being locked for a big long period of time that I cant get into it and I have to sit there and wait and wait. It was horrible. I only used it on one cycle and that was the cycle that filled it all the way up because it didnt do a good job the rest of the time. Finally, I just had enough and I started researching, which I had researched when I bought that one too. But I started researching and really reading a ton of consumer information out there on the internet. I noticed that some other people have had the same problem I had and they bought this Fisher & Paykel. My husband knew I was looking for one and he came up with the same one. I said, Well, I dont know. I guess Ill try it. Well order it from Sears. I paid 200 and some dollars just to have it brought to me. But it was supposed to be new in the box so I ordered it from their outlet. Ever since I have gotten it, the minute you pushed for it to unlock, it stops immediately and its unlocked. And so, thats not an issue for me at all. It doesnt finish its cycle and then unlock. I truly love it. And I choose my own level that its going to be at. You can do that or you can let it do its own thing. I checked it a couple of times when Ive let it do its own thing and it seems just to fill it to where it should. But Im kind of old school so I like to choose my own water level. Also, sometimes Ill wash a load and do a little bit of a bleach in it, and then I want to rewash the whole thing. Once that water spins out of there, I can push it forward to be done with the cycle and start it over again, and that works. The other one did not work - I had to let it complete and for being so energy efficient it used so much energy you just cant even believe. This one, you still get to tell it what to do, you are in charge of it, and it does an excellent job.

I went to the appliance store called Melzen’s Appliance at Glastonbury and they informed me about Fisher & Paykel. Never heard of it before. It was one of the most expensive refrigerators I’ve ever bought in my life - it was $1600. I’m married for 35 years and I’ve had refrigerators before this. I was shocked at the price but had to buy it because of the size (it had to fit into a specific area). I also wanted a stainless and a refrigerator on top. It had so many of the things I wanted. It was delivered November of 2012.I love the F&P refrigerator except I do have an issue with it that I did go back to the appliance store to tell them that when I opened up the door, something came flying out of the refrigerator. I told them, “Look at this piece, what do I do.” The guy looked at it and said, “Oh that just goes underneath the door of the refrigerator, just glue it.” I said, “Glue it? You know this refrigerator is only 6 months old - really?” He goes, “Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with your refrigerator right?” I said, “Correct” “So well, just glue it. It’s fine. Because if I send out a repair man, that’s what they’re going to do and they’re gonna charge you.” So I still have the piece here and it doesn’t impede or impact what’s going on with the refrigerator. I haven’t glued it yet because I’m having a hard time thinking that I have to glue this on my new refrigerator.I like the performance. I’m satisfied, though I’m not happy that a piece flew out on me.

This is my second Fisher Paykel dishwasher. My first one lasted for over 14 years almost double the life expectancy of a dishwasher. I loved that dishwasher and loved the reliability. I could not purchase anything other than a Fisher Paykel for my next dishwasher. The new dishwasher is even better than the first. I love the improvements with the adjustable to racks. The new machine works flawlessly as expected. I love the ability of only using one drawer if I do not have a large load. I also love how quiet this machine is. It is truly a pleasure to own!

Fisher Paykel is the only dishwasher that provides a double draw and this is the only reason it’s still on the market. You will be changing a motor/rotor every 18 months. The cost of the motor is 100.00 dollars and installation is 290.00. Fisher Paykel will recommend Dial An Appliance if you live in Brooklyn or Queens. They take 250.00 to put the motor in and it’s a 10 min job, but you’ll have no choice. I loved the double draw so within a 10 year period I had to buy and fix 3 dishwashers. Finally said, No more.. I just purchased a KitchenAid and hope to have it longer. If you purchase this dishwasher your first repair will be within the first year. Guaranteed!

We purchased a full set of 4 appliances along with extended warranties for a kitchen renovation in 2016. After 5 years, when warranties had expired, only the refrigerator remains in good working order and we love it. The dishwasher never did a very good cleaning job and we had it serviced. (Do NOT purchase the 2 drawer model!) The microwave oven stopped without any warning because the main PCB and line conditioner needed replacement. The interlock assembly on the door also had a fair amount of play in it. Then the induction range slowed down to only 2 working elements until the inverter board completely stopped rendering the cooktop completely unusable. The replacement piece cost was $1800 pre-tax and installation with a 30 DAY warranty! The oven cavity has turned off during use a couple of times which I consider a warning. Fisher and Paykel was unresponsive to communication so I will never purchase or recommend their product in the future.

So I've read a lot of negative reviews about FP. I have been using it since a 6000 sqft project build I did almost 10 years ago using a dual drawer dishwasher. THIS IS THE ONLY DISHWASHER I'LL EVER BUY. A 2 drawer dishwasher is very civilized... 2 completely independent running drawers that clean very well. Next renovation in a $2M condo I put in same dishwasher and a FP Washer and Ventless Dryer. I could not be happier. Never any service problems, cosmetically beautiful, and nice ergonomics. Don't overload it.

I have a Fisher Paykel washer and dryer that’s a little over 3 years old. The washing machine agitator broke, and it wouldnt drain water. Now it is fixed, but it doesnt even really clean the clothes and doesnt spin the water out like advertised. The dryer is junk. We have had a certified Fisher Paykel repair man try to fix it twice. It took a while for the part to come in, and then it didnt fix the problem. I just recently replaced the bearing assembly, and it still sounds like the dryer is going to literally take off through the ceiling. I have contacted customer service, only to have the wrong part sent to me. When I called to let them know they sent the wrong part, I was told that the part I needed would cost me an additional $50 dollars. I cant express how upset I am that I paid the money for this set when the washer and dryer were under warranty; it probably should have just been replaced. The customer service always had some crazy solution or excuse! I will never recommend this brand to anyone. I would rather hand wash and dry my clothes than to have to listen to the loud, ridiculous noises that come from the washer and dryer. I dont understand how a company can sell something and not even bother to warranty or care about their product or their customers! Company failure!

I have the dish drawers and both handles have broken. I know how to open the dish drawers as I had dish drawers prior to getting these except that handle was one piece on the door. I was concerned when I got these dish drawers as several of my friends that I had talked into getting Fisher Paykel dish drawers had the same thing happen to them because they are made out of cheap plastic! This was the only reason I did not want another Fisher Paykel. I loved the one I had before because you have enough room to keep your dishes done rather than the one dishwasher that you can never fit all the dishes in a load. I called Fisher Paykel and they have not been helpful at all, not did they seem interested in doing anything about it. They know how cheap these handles are and when they are broken. You cant open the dish drawer. Both are broken and I do not let anyone load my dishes except me because I knew what happened with my friends dish drawers. I loved my first one that lasted 9 years without a problem but when I called the service man out, it ended up after 400 dollars where they were replacing parts and something else was going wrong, I decided enough was enough -- they said they could not fix it so I wanted another set but I will never get anything Fisher Paykel anymore. They used to be good and stand behind their product but now they just build a cheap machine and charge a large price for it. My timer is already not working correctly and it even changes the settings all by itself. I had no clue after only 3 years I would have such a piece of junk!

I had just purchased a brand new F&P dish drawer from a local PC Richards store. No less than 3 days, I needed to call for service. I spent quite a bit of money on this unit and was excited to finally be able to experience all of the features this dish drawer had to offer the consumer. Its so sad to say that I was let down by the company. When I called F&P Customer Service line, I had to wait on hold for almost 30 minutes to finally talk to someone. Contacted the Fisher and Paykel Customer Care to repair a 2 year old fridge - no longer working (under warranty). The fridge was removed and taken in for service and a replacement fridge was provided. Our fridge was returned 1.5 weeks later, and we were told it was working. Its not. Contacted the service dept, given the run-around, told it is probably a small repair required and the technician will attend on site - but not for 4 days. Thanks guys. Its 30 degrees out. Love having to deal with a fridge/freezer and 100s of $$ of rotting food.Would have been helpful to at least speak with a manager, or be reassured that given it was their error, or case would be prioritized. Debbie at customer service said nothing can or will be done, was unable to reach a manager, said Josh (the technical supervisor for our area) should get back to us within a day or so. Very reassuring (thats sarcasm). I find it very strange. Dealing with a mistake can be so easy with an apology, acknowledgement, and reassurance. None of which were provided.

I have a Fisher Paykel 12 year dishwasher Model DD603. And when the top drawer stop working I did not wanted to call the factory service because I thought about the high cost of factory service calls. What a mistake that was. After checking with several local appliance companies I finally located one that said that they did work on Fisher Paykel dishwasher. After three visits during one month and after replacing several parts the serviceman finally gave up and said I cannot fix it, please call the factory service.I did send an email to Fisher Paykel service department and I received an immediate response confirming my request and 2 days later the service call was confirmed. The friendly service man arrived early (something very unusual for servicemen). It took one look at the dishwasher, did a five-minute software diagnostic, remove the front cover of the top dishwasher and point at the control box and said that is what is wrong. One small plastic tab of the control box was broken and the box was loose. He explained that because the age of the dishwasher the plastic becomes brittle and started to break. Gave me the price of the new box, very reasonable and mentioned he had one on his truck. He went ahead to get the new box. Close the cover, tested the dishwasher and he was out to the next service call in 20 minutes. It cost me $330 for a job well done. Great service and if you have a Fisher Paykel dishwasher do not call any other than the service department of Fisher Paykel. Great service. Thank you.

I bought a Fisher Paykel washer and dryer based on the sales pitch that loads very seldom get off balance and that clothes spin almost dry. From the start at least one out of every 4 loads would get off balance. I had a repair man service my washer numerous times while it was under warranty. At one point the rocker arms were broke and had to be replaced and caused from the loads getting off balance. The last repair visit the service man said he would have to order parts and would be back to install them. He hasn’t been back and that was months ago. My washer still gets loads off balance and now it won’t complete the rinse cycle. But now my warranty has expired so I’m stuck with an expensive washing machine that doesn’t work. I will never buy another Fisher Paykel product nor will I ever buy anything from the store where I purchased them. I’m stuck with an appliance that doesn’t work and the warranty is now expired.

Yes, I will be responsible for what I write against a Fisher Paykel Dryer. I purchased a brand new washer & dryer on 4/13/2010 & I also purchased a 10 year warranty & I have nothing but trouble since I bought this brand. I am very disgusted with it. I will never purchase this brand again. I have friends that have had their other brands of washer & dryers for 25 + years, I havent had these since 2010, & am ready to go out & buy another brand, BUT, Fisher Paykel should pay for another purchase for me. As I said before, I never should have wasted my money, almost $800.00 a piece, wasted. Very Upset Consumer. I bought these from Ralphs appliance, Tiffin, Ohio.

I currently own a Fisher & Payel washer and dryer and just bought my second dishwasher. Im very happy with the products. My only complaint is the soap dispenser has two prongs inside it so if you use a powder cube and not the gel (which I dont like) you cannot get the soap powder cube in the holder. Poor design. Other than that I am really pleased with my FP appliances.

3 pumps in 5 years - We purchased our Fisher & Paykel washer in 2008 at Beesons, Lafayette, IN. They also did the warranty work for us. They replaced the pump while under warranty. A few years ago, my husband replaced the pump himself. Now, my pump is out again; the part is $130. We have decided to not put any more money into this appliance. I plan to go shopping for a new washer and will not be buying a Fisher& Paykel appliance ever again. Im curious. Is this normal for a Fisher & Paykel?

I have had a Fisher and Paykel stove for 20 years and it has served me extremely well. It is only now I have to get a new one as with time and continuous use, parts are wearing out and it is more economical now to replace it. And I am quite happy to go the same way again. In any inquiries I have always found the company approachable and helpful and would have no problem in recommending their product to anyone I know.

We bought a washer and dryer and in December 2014. We paid a total of $2132.86 for the Fisher Paykel brand. The dryer broke within one month, it needs a new blower which will take 5 1/2 weeks for the part to come in. Very disappointed and frustrated with this expensive appliance and the service is very difficult to get. Actually, the line I strung up in my basement has been drying my clothes perfectly!

I did a little bit of research on the internet, and then I saw a Fisher Paykel dishwasher for sale. I liked the idea of the drawers. I thought that was a very good idea. And it went along with my beautiful wood cabinets so I went ahead and purchased it. It is a used item, however. The top drawer is a little bit quieter than the bottom drawer. I often wonder if maybe it might need a new belt or something. It seems to be a bit loud. But I would recommend it to a friend. Its an unusual item. It is better than what I was using in the past. And even with the sound quality, I would still go ahead and recommend it to another one.

I replaced Fisher & Paykel dishwasher with the same brand item. The drawers are not of equivalent size. One is a little bit larger and the other one is a little smaller and Im actually liking it. I bought some of the appliances at the same time and there was a Fisher & Paykel rep there and I spoke to him and were playing around with it. So far I think its great. The last ones were not that great. I purchased a home with the dishwashers in the home and I did not call in the repairman.I decided that I was going to replace them because they were 10 years old but my understanding is to get them serviced is very difficult. I like the new ones better. I use these for dishes and they are very nice. Its in my second home so Ive used them only five times but from what Ive used so far, Id give them a five although Im afraid because I havent had to service them and I do hear little horror stories.

We bought a F&P washer and dryer a couple of years ago and have had trouble since day one! We have spent several hundred dollars in repairs with much frustration! The washer went first. Of course, it was my fault because a dime was left in pants pocket by accident and sent the whole machine into a tailspin! With conventional machines, that wouldnt have been an issue! Then, the fins on the rotator broke off and was cutting into my clothes as I washed them! Then, bearings went out on my dryer and ruined 2 loads of clothes with black grease before I realized what it was! Now, 2 weeks ago, element and thermostat had to be repaired after a week of laundry piled up! I still have the bill for over $200. I havent even had a chance to pay yet and now the lint bucket is stuck! Seems like it should be an easy thing to fix but with all of the smarts of the machine, its probably something to do with electronics not releasing it. I am so disappointed in these products. Something big would have to happen to make me ever buy another F&P product! I had a good ole Maytag washer and dryer before and used it for many, many years with no issues. My husband wanted me to upgrade, now I wish I hadnt given my Maytags away as they are still working great for my son who had just bought his first home!

I purchased a new F&P washer to replace the old one that I have. After delivery and hook up, I found that once you put the clothes into the machine and started the washer, the lid locked until the end of the cycle. I am not able to open the lid without turning off the wash cycle. In the old machine, the lid locked when the spin cycle was on. Now, I am unable to see what the washer is doing or how much it is filling. I called the customer care department to find out what could be done to override this feature during the fill and rinse cycle and an answer from a supervisor, named Bernice, is that I should wash by hand if I am so concerned about how my clothes are being washed. In the past, I have found this company to be difficult when trying to purchase parts; but this goes way beyond attitude. If you want control over your wash do not buy a F&P washer. Once you start the machine, its out of your hands. This is not a consumer friendly machine

About 4 years ago, we purchased a Fisher and Paykel Intuitive Eco washer. In the beginning we were very happy with our new product. Just shy of our warranty running out we experienced our first problem. It was pertaining to the pump/drain hose. Now, in the last month we have had to replace the pump and circuit board. It started with the beeps and a fault code. After turning the washer off and back on as instructed by the manual it began working again. A few loads of laundry later and now we smell a hot burning smell then the code alerts and now the washer stops working. We start with replacing the pump. Then the circuit panel goes out. Our repair man says the circuit board went out because of the motor so now they have an inline fuse to prevent this, its an upgrade. Okay, so we replace both parts. Great problem solved. Wrong.

We had a double drawer dishwasher installed as part of our kitchen refurbishment last May. Within two months, the dishwasher would not drain. Contacted customer service - NOT - and after being on hold for a long time, I was finally told to contact a company called Millers Ltd. UK to arrange an engineer to come and fix the problem. This company sent out one of the rudest young men I have ever encountered and he left the dishwasher un-repaired, so we had to contact the kitchen company to make other arrangements, dishwasher fixed. In February 2015 the tines in the tray of the upper drawer broke. I went online to order a new tray and tines at a total cost of £73.40, I ordered what was in the photo on Fisher & Paykel website. The tray arrived without the tines. After several phone calls and mindless music, I finally managed to convince an assistant called Ula that if she checked her website, she would see what I thought I was ordering and therefore could she send me the tines. This she did and they all snapped while trying to fix them to the tray. We have since managed to do a DIY job on this tray. In March of this year, the upper drawer again would not drain, clean the dishes - so back onto Fisher Paykel and the awful music. Again given a number to contact to arrange an engineer to visit, told the assistant about our previous experience and asked that that company not be used again. A very helpful engineer arrived the next day and instantly knew the problem and replaced the rotor in the upper drawer, he had one on-hand as he had dealt with this problem several times. July, both drawers very noisy, not cleaning dishes and a red light and bleeping from the upper drawer. Contact Fisher & Paykel and again straight onto the awful music, finally get through to Hannah, who cannot find a contact number for my post code. Oops its my fault that she misheard my post code and was looking in the wrong area. I explain as best I can the problem and previous history, she tells me to contact the previous company I used in March. This I do to be informed that they no longer deal with Fisher & Paykel as their machines have multiple problems. Contact Fisher & Paykel and Hannah, again to be given a number which turns out to be Millers UK, a company I will never use or recommend. Try to contact Hannah again but am beaten by the awful music. Instead I am now getting an independent assessment of the machine and will be going back to the kitchen company that recommended the dishwasher and installed it, as to whether or not they will have to replace it with a better-quality machine.

We were renovating our kitchen and I loved the idea of the two-drawer dishwasher because it’s just my husband and I, and they’re just made a lot more since. It seemed to work out better and it did. We were basically just shopping around and discovered Fisher & Paykel. It’s our first purchase with them. So I got it and loved it. After a year, we’ve had a problem with the handle part of the washer. The top part, where all your buttons are which is right above the handle, cracked within a couple of years. And it is a plastic piece. Maybe it’s just weak in that area so that when you do open it, and they didn’t crack at the very same week but within a short time of each other, they both have a crack in that plastic handle. And I sent a picture which was very obvious where the crack was. When I wrote Fisher & Paykel which was probably a year after they cracked, they said, “We’re sorry, your warranty has run out. We aren’t going to be able to give anything for you.” I feel like we’re two people. I hadn’t really worn it out. I may have lived here and had my kitchen renovated four years ago but I still didn’t wear out the dishwasher. We have a summer home on the river which we spend a lot of time there. I feel this way, I can’t be the only one with this two-drawer dishwasher that had this problem.

7/28/14 I have not been able to find any good reviews of this product, so I'm going to do my best to give one to help others as they consider buying this fridge. I know people want to know how a product lasts over time, so I'll do my best to remember to keep updating this review. As of today, the fridge has been up and running for 2 days. It is important to note that our fridge is a B-stock unit (was returned by someone, but never used. They listed the reason as "damaged packaging"). We did not buy through this website. THE BACKSTORY Our previous fridge was a big 36" standard depth white GE side-to-side that someone gave us for free. We knew it was only a temporary solution, and started saving for its replacement for when it would die on us. The rest of our kitchen appliances were stainless, so we were looking forward to the day our big white fridge kicked the bucket so we could have a more uniform look. Yesterday, we got home from a trip and our fridge was making loud and scary noises that wouldn't stop. We saw this as the perfect excuse to make the switch. I had heard of Fisher and Paykel before, and was told they were a good solution for a long-lasting fridge without all the unnecessary bells and whistles (that end up breaking and causing service calls down the road). I also thought this was the most elegant looking out of all of its competitors. I like the simple, flat look of this unit. I headed over to our closest appliance outlet store and found a B-stock unit that was never used (still had the plastic wrap), but had a dent in the back. We saved a thousand dollars on this unit because of a dent nobody would ever see. Score! INSTALLATION I took it home in my van and let it stand for 8 hours before turning it on (guy at store said this was important to do so all the liquids in the compressor could settle into place after transporting it on its back - better safe than sorry). During that time, I installed the included water filter and hoses to the fridge. It comes with everything you need except the piece that actually taps into your water line. Since we already had that from our previous fridge, this was a breeze. No need to call a plumber. The instruction manual was very easy to follow on installation of water components. I am the least handy guy you could know, so trust me when I say this was easy! During the time the fridge sat unplugged, I also wiped down the shelves and bins, took off the plastic wrap, and read the instruction manual. I HIGHLY recommend reading the manual. There are so many features in this fridge that aren't highlighted on the companies website that I never would have known about had I not read the manual. I'll go into more detail in the "Features" Section of this review. After the 8 hours, I plugged the fridge in and let it get to its proper temperature (about 2 hours). I used this time to adjust the front legs (it is supposed to be raised up 1/2" higher in the front than the back for ease of door use). During this time, the exterior sides and back of the unit got HOT! Like, I'm afraid this thing is going to explode, hot. Thankfully after reaching its desired interior temps, the exterior cooled off substantially. Today, it isn't even warm. I made sure to run all the air pockets out of the water line, and discarded the first few batches of ice as instructed. FEATURES First of all, keep in mind that we were previously using a big, standard depth side-by-side before, and have never had a counter-depth fridge, or one with a freezer on the bottom. Having made the transition, it is clear that these fridges are not for everyone. I'll try to explain in more detail as I go. - Counter-Depth: This opened up our kitchen far beyond what we were expecting. I know its only a few inches shallower, but it made a huge difference for us. Our kitchen just got bigger and brighter! Our fridge is no longer the elephant in the room. This fridge looks great, but blends in. It does come with some trade offs. The depth of storage in the fridge is very shallow. For example, I don't see the ability to fit a large pizza box in the fridge or the freezer (untested theory). - Doors: I've been to some peoples houses where their french doors were really hard to either open or close. These open with no problem, and close even easier. The freezer door is a bit harder to open than the fridge doors, but not difficult by any stretch. - Hidden top hinges: I love how the top hinges are covered in the front. It is a small attention to detail which really makes this thing look clean and sharp. It also makes cleaning the top of the fridge so much easier! - Water dispenser: Some people may not like that this doesn't have a door ice dispenser (ice is dispensed in a bin in the freezer). It is perfect for us, I love the shallow water chamber that doesn't cut into storage space on the inside door. It also is easier to clean, and you can fill any size container without worrying if it will fit. For us, the water comes out fast, and fills things up quickly. People who like to set a glass in the water cavity and walk away while it fills up will not like this feature. It is too shallow to set a glass in, you will need to hold it the entire time. Not a problem for us. - Shelving: This model has 3 shelves (2 of which are height adjustable). These shelves go across the full width of the fridge. Some of this units competitors have adjustable shelves that only go halfway for more customization, but in my opinion that is just more breakable pieces, and it cuts into the amount of things you can store. The full-width shelves work perfectly for our needs. Also, many competitors' fridges have white plastic spill proofing around the edges of their shelves. In my opinion, this makes a fridge look cheap and flimsy. The ActiveSmart fridge has beautiful brushed metal spill proofing, it looks so much more elegant and uniform. Sounds like a small thing, but it is one of my favorite features! - Door Storage: Because of the shallow water dispenser, you get full storage on both doors. This increases the storage like no other. There are large compartments with dividers for gallon sized jugs and tall items. At the top of each french door, there is a compartment with a lid for butters or cheeses. Our previous fridge had one of these compartments with a rounded lid, it really limited storage, but these have a squared off lid that allows you to stack items without worrying about closing the lid. My biggest complaint of this fridge is that these lids don't stay open when you lift them. So you need one hand to hold the lid open, and another to grab whatever is inside. It may sound negligible, but i'm usually holding something else when I need something from these compartments. Hopefully I'll get used to it. As of right now, it's really annoying. - Wine/Bottle holders: There really isn't a place in this fridge where you would be able to store a wine bottle standing up other than the doors, so they included 4 horizontal holders that clip to the back of every shelf. These holders also stack upon another so if you don't have 4 bottles to hold, they don't take up a lot of room. Very thoughtful feature. If you insist on storing your wine or tall bottled drinks standing up, you may not like this fridge. - REMOVABLE BINS!: This is my very favorite feature of this fridge. All drawers in the fridge and freezer are actually pull out shelves with clear bins sitting on top. This is so useful for so many reasons. Instead of shuffling through the vegetables or fruits to find what you are looking for with the fridge doors open, you can just pull out the desired bin and take it to the counter, find what you need and easily put it back. The same is true for meats/cheese bins, frozen drawers, and the ice bin. Saves tons of energy. Also, it makes cleaning drawers out a breeze. Just pull it out, rinse the bin in the sink, and dry out. I love this feature! - Crisper drawers: Like most fridges, this has separate drawers for fruits and vegetables with a separate humidity setting for each. Keep in mind, you need to open both french doors to pull out the drawer. Even though there are two separate sections, the full drawer they share takes up the full width of the fridge. People who only want to open one door and pull out fruits or veggies will not like this fridge. - Meats and Cheese Drawers: I like that there are two separate sections for these. We use the left one for lunch meat and cheeses, and the right one for other meats (steak, beef, fish, etc...). It is especially nice to use one of these as a dedicated meat thawing section without worry of any juices finding their way to other items in the fridge. Again, you need to open both french doors to access these compartments. - Lighting: Our previous fridge had a light in the top back center. If we had anything in front of it (which was always), it would darken the rest of the fridge, making it difficult to see other items throughout. This fridge has a strip of LED lighting at the top front of the unit which allow for full illumination of the entire contents of the fridge no matter how you have your food arranged. Very nice touch! There are no lights on the doors, but enough spills from the inside of the fridge that you will be able to make out what you need even in the middle of the night. - Ice machine: Since this is only our 2nd day, all I can say is it works as advertised so far. I know the ice machine is usually the biggest issue people have with any fridge, so I'll keep my eye on it and let you know if anything weird happens over time. The default setup is that in the freezer, there is a top shelf with 2 big bins across the width. In the left big bin, there is a smaller one that takes up half the width of that bin, and that is the ice bin. If you require more ice, you can just remove the smaller bin and let the ice dispense into the bigger bin. With either bin, it is supposed to stop producing ice when it is full. If you need even more ice, you can fill up the big bin on the left, switch it with the right bin, and fill up that one too. Lots of versatility, and the removable bins are great if you are entertaining! - Freezer: The freezer has a top shelf that pulls out with the ice bin, plus a bin and a half of storage for other things. Then there is a large cavity below for the storage of everything else. If you are a person who usually packs out your freezer of your current fridge, I don't think you will enjoy a counter-depth freezer-on-the bottom model. This is definitely more for the person who has a larger ratio of fresh food to frozen food. I can easily see people needing to dig around the lower cavity if they over fill it. For our family, we don't need much freezer space, so it works perfect for us so far. - Noise: As of right now, there is a constant hum that is about the volume of somebody whispering softly. It is audible, but not something you can hear unless you are in the kitchen. I'm not sure if this will always hum, or if it is just because we haven't filled up our ice bin to the top yet, and the ice machine is constantly working. I'll update the review when we find out. - ActiveSmart Tech: I don't really know what it is, other than it's supposed to do a good job of keeping your food cold. Mission accomplished so far. - Other features: Sabbath mode, open door alarm (90 seconds for fridge, 60 seconds for freezer), ability to turn off open door alarm (for cleaning), water dispenser lock (for cleaning or curious kids), ice bin on/off, fast ice, temperature controls, bottle chill function (allows you to chill a beverage quickly in freezer, and will sound alarm when it is done), fast freeze (for quick freezing of fresh food), water filter replacement indicator, lock fridge controls (for cleaning) and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Fridge controls are located inside the fridge. WHO WOULD LOVE THIS FRIDGE People who: - Have more fresh food than frozen food - Don't need to store extra deep items (large pizza box, for example)* SEE UPDATES - Appreciate removable storage bins - Like sleek, simple, modern design - Want to maximize the storage of the inside of their fridge - Like good lighting - Want to be able to fill pitchers and other large containers from the door water dispenser - Want easy opening and closing doors - Want to be able to view everything in their fridge at a glance without needing to move things out of the way. I purchased a Fisher Paykel dishwasher 6 months ago. I took out a store credit card and paid it off in 6 mo. The last time I turned the dishwasher on it started flashing and did not work, and then turned completely shut off, never to turn on again. I am not on week 7 -without a working dishwasher, I have spent countless hours calling fisher Paykel, at first they sent a repairman out asap, only because they tried to say it would take 1 week, I said that was unacceptable - he came the next day, only to tell me that he needed a part, came back 1 week later. My husband called me and told me the dishwasher could not be fixed and that it would need to be replaced. One week went by, I called the customer service number, on hold for 40 minutes. I was told the new dishwasher request had been denied. It took hours to get the supervisor Richard to call me back. He said he did not know why it had been denied, though I was told he was the person who denied it and he said that he would order me a new dishwasher, that he was a consumer and understood how things went wrong in this day and age. A few days later I heard from the appliance store where I bought the dishwasher and was told it would take 1-2 weeks. It has now been over 2 weeks, so I called this morning, on hold for 40 minutes, spoke w/ Cindy. She said I would be updated today. I called Richard 2 days prior and left him a message the next day too, never returned my call. Today he called me, I missed his call, emailed me he was in meetings and unreachable. Did not hear from Fisher Paykel, so I called the appliance store. They told me Fisher Paykel said the dishwasher was sent to be there on July 23. Today is July 28, and it is not there. We have a problem, not like Fisher Paykel has noticed. I called Fisher Paykel around 4pm, got through immediately, spoke w/ Cindy. She said that I was not speaking to her in a nice way. I explained how frustrating it has been dealing w/ her company and nobody follows through. She said she was going to follow up w/ Richard and get back to me. Never heard from her. This is has been a horrible experience - I have wasted countless hours on this issue. I am still without a dishwasher and am shocked at the horrible customer service. This is a very expensive appliance. I expected so much more. This is the 3rd dishwasher in 17years, all Fisher Paykel dishwashers that I have replaced. I should have learned my lesson.

I bought a Fisher and Paykel washing machine. It is not even 3 years old, but it leaks everywhere, smells moldy all the time and grime builds up in the drum and softener bowl. I had a Kenmore that was 25 years old and it never had any problems. I thought I would save energy and help the environment by buying a new machine. Boy, do I wish I had my old machine back.

We had bought a new Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. It sat for awhile. We were in the middle of doing our model, installed it and it wouldnt run so I had registered the unit and she insisted that I show the proof even. They repaired it and then asked me for a copy of my receipt. Theyve done nothing but harass me. Theyre charging me $135 for something that they never even said, We may have to bill for this. Well have to send it through to see if its covered under warranty. They just fixed it and then called me and said, How come you havent paid this? They didnt even give me an invoice but call me and harass. I just got a phone call a couple of days ago again. I would never ever use them. It was horrible.

The old design was better in terms of its usability... I discovered this appliance manufacturer on a public little forum online called Garden Web, which is for home improvement and stuff like that. We were looking for a counter-depth refrigerator and that reduces the number of things we can buy. And then, once we did that, we really didn’t want to lose space by having that entire icemaker on the door. And we didn’t want a water dispenser because we’ve got young kids. So this was the product which had the features that we were looking for - it did not have the icemaker in the door (it was inside the freezer section) and it doesn’t have the water dispenser. It’s our first appliance from F&P and we’re happy with it. A lot of people have mixed reviews and stuff like that, but so far so good. It’s a very good product and it looks nice too. I would recommend to others. I hope it doesn’t break.

We bought Fisher Paykel washer last year and I cant say enough good things about it so when our Maytag drier broke I bought the Fisher Paykal drier that matched the washer even though the salesman recommended another brand. Ive given the drier several months and I still hate it. The worst problem is that the auto dry function does not work. The clothes consistently come out over dried. In fact Im surprised my bedspread didnt catch on fire in the drier. When I removed it (because I felt it had been in the drier too long) the panel still said it was damp but it was so cooked that it was completely puckered up and crisp in places. I had to replace it. Clothes still have lint all over them and I hate the fact that the timer can only be set for predetermined amounts of time and that I have to wait for the lid to unlock every time I want to open the lid. It’s a bad design flaw! I wish I could replace it but it seems Im stuck with it now. All I can do is to warn others.

The worst I ever had! If you need to deal with F&P at Botany, 78 Springs Road RUN!! To replace the faulty draws I have to take 4 days off work!! After waiting the whole day it for delivery, it was delivered 4:45 pm and left downstairs cause the delivery company, (which it seems to be separate to company that installs - very efficient) didnt know it needs to go to the 2nd floor (and no one asked - great communication NOT).Second time 2 guys got it upstairs and then I had to book a technician to install - No follow up service, and the guys that bring the dishwasher dont tell you anything about it. When I called to book the technician, I explicitly asked if the old dishwasher will be picked up on the same day and I was reassured it will, but guess what it wasnt! And now I need to take another day off for it to be picked up! In addition to this, the supervisor I talked to was rude and refused to put me to her manager, she just hang the phone me! So GOOD LUCK dealing with F&P.

I have had a Fisher Paykel single dish drawer since 2001 and recently replaced it with a newer model. Not because I had to, but because I did a kitchen makeover and the timing was right. In all the years I had my original FP dishwasher, it required service twice and both times service was expedient and at reasonable cost. In my opinion, as a long time user of the product, the value, reliability and performance of the FP dish drawer cant be beat.

We would like to relay our experience with an FP oven which we have documented with copious notes and repair receipts. Our FP oven OS302SS was put in service in early 2008 and acted erratically from the get-go. We finally contacted customer service in August 2010 when the issues became worse. The same month, repeated repair efforts began, which ultimately resulted in ALL boards being exchanged because of power supply issues. Along the way, it became apparent that the repair companies were at best sub-par, even though during our numerous calls to FP we had been promised white glove service. Some of the repairmen had never seen an FP oven in their life and were consequently in the dark about how to approach this issue. It did not help that some essential parts of the oven were dropped on the floor by a repairman resulting in further repairs (to oven and floor). In late 2010, repair activity seized temporarily since the oven appeared to be working. In February of 2011, another bout of repairs started because the fan and oven light were only operating intermittently. In the course of multiple repair visits and repair efforts, the oven stopped working altogether for periods of time. After numerous phone calls to the FP tech line, the repair company was no longer confident that this oven could be repaired and concluded that it should be exchanged as a lemon. Unfortunately, one of the repairman also got into an argument with the FP tech line (in our presence) resulting in a less than favorable impression of the situation by FP. FP refused at this point to swap the oven unless another repair company would assess the situation again. FP also suggested the local supervisor would get in touch and review the situation.Reluctantly, we made an appointment with another repair company in a neighboring city (since we had been through with all the local ones) that had been suggested to us by FP, but the repairman never showed up. We were never contacted by the supervisor of FP and hence, we’re unable to present our case to him. Based on previous experience with repairs, my wife refused to contact yet another repair company. At this point, the oven still experienced power problems intermittently and also did not hold the correct temperature. We had, by then, purchased a portable countertop oven and we’re able to use it when the FP oven was in-operational. We also learned to adjust the temperature of the oven manually with the help of a digital thermometer disregarding the displayed temperature. In January 2013, less than two years from previous repairs and hence, technically, within the warranty period of these repairs, the oven seized to operate completely. We have since been without the wall oven. To call the experience with this oven a nightmare would be polite. Despite being used sparingly in a two-person household and not once having being used in the self-cleaning mode, the oven has NEVER worked reliably for any length of time. We have been without an oven more often than not and are now faced with purchasing a new oven. The primary problem appears to be that the service companies FP contracts for warranty repairs are utterly incompetent and have, in our opinion, contributed to the failure of the appliance. At some point, we, the customers, were therefore sufficiently worn out from the repair attempts that we essentially gave up and lived without the oven. We deeply regret having purchased a number of FP appliances over the years.

We have had a Fisher & Paykel dish drawer for a few years and have been pleased with the dish drawer after we learned some of the nuances of a dish drawer. Recently, we had to replace the rotor. I contacted the company to purchase the rotor and found it was less expensive buying it directly. The company was easy to work with and the item sent quickly. After replacing the rotor, we found there were more problems than we had initially thought. I contacted the authorized repair facility and they also were great to deal with. However, I would like to see other dealers in order to do some price comparisons because we had to pay extra fees on top of the repair bill due to the distance. They also charged quite a lot per hour. The repairman was extremely helpful on teaching me something so I could repair the drawer on my own if I ever had to.The repairman contacted F&P due to some previous poor repairs before we owned the home. F&P offered to pay for the parts, we just had to pay for labor. The repairman repaired the most difficult part that we initially called him about and I was able to order other parts and repair them myself later. The entire experience (although frustrating to be sans a dish drawer) was very easy and in all cases, the parts were cheaper dealing directly with F&P. I will also say it really was great to at least have one drawer to wash dishes while the other was out of commission. The only reason it is 4 stars instead of 5 was due to a shipping error which delayed my order. It would be nice to get an email confirmation regarding what parts are being shipped in order to catch such errors before time is wasted.

We went to an appliance store down in Houston and we had tested several washers. Fisher Paykel is what we first bought. We found out the ease of the repair and the warranty so we bought a washer. And then my dishwasher went out and I needed a new one so we went to the same place. Since we had such good luck with the washing machine, we went with the dishwasher also. I love the new models - love the efficiency. I love that they dont use a whole lot of water or energy and the results of the clean are as good, if not better, than a model that uses all the water and all the electricity. It doesnt cost me a million dollar to have them repaired. My experience has been fantastic. Ive had one problem with my washing machine and it was very easy to take a part and we found a YouTube video and took it apart and replaced the part ourselves. So instead of having someone come out and we have to pay them $120 just to look at it, for $60 for the part and everything, it was done and over within 15 minutes.

I emailed them back to let them know and they never responded to my email, and I even sent pictures of what mine looks like, so I called again and I was told that I would have to have a service rep come out to remove the bins and if he found there was no manufacturer defect they would charge me $95!!Yet they are not able to provide me with any instructions on how to do it myself!!! This refrigerator cost way too much have people answering the phone that cant help with something that should be a simple process... My Fisher & Paykel Washer failed to pump out water or complete a spin cycle. The technician from the store that we bought it from, determined that the pump was not operating and needed to be replaced. This company no longer carries Fisher& Paykel products mainly because it continues to change replacement parts, and have poor support in receiving parts. He did contact the Service Dept. for F&K and was able to find the part number needed for the pump. My wife had to contact them to order and pay for the part. After receiving the shippings tracking number and date of delivery, it became a waiting game. When the package did not arrive on the expected date, my wife contacted the customer service personnel and initially was informed that they could not find the order; then determined that the order did not ship because an additional part was required for the pump. As luck would have it, this part was not in California but was located somewhere in Kentucky.By and large, someone took it upon himself to cancel the order, but failed to inform us of the situation. My wife now had to get the correct information, order the part, trust the so-called experts to credit our charge account, and play the waiting game. Mind you, 2 weeks has lapsed since this process began. When the much awaited part arrived, we had to wait another 4 days for the service tech to install it. Today when I arrived home from work, I found my wife in tears and on the verge of a mental breakdown. The part was installed and when the tech ran a cycle through the machine with a load of clothes in it, it failed to pump the water out again. To make a long story short, when he talked to a tech at F&P, he was informed that a change made to their parts required that the motherboard also needs to be replaced at the time a new part was installed. Now we are talking an additional $190 for the part and $25 for shipping and handling. The total cost with parts already received was $357. NFW are we going to continue to pump money in to this money pit. To fix this problem, we have ordered a new washing machine but it is not an F&K product.Never again will we waste good money on any product by F&P. Not only will we no longer support the products of this company, we will seek out every opportunity to express our dissatisfaction and terrible experience to anyone that will listen. This is the worst buying and service after the sale experience that we have ever encountered. I can only hope that F&Ps competition will eventually drive them out of business.

This is a turn-around story led by Customer Service Hero named Lisette ** at the Fisher Paykel Office in the USA. After hearing about the experience we went through with Rob who refused to let me speak with his superior and then in spite of my insistence to be escalated went on to tell us that his supervisor/manager doesnt answer return calls. Lisette took all of the details of the situation and undertook to get back to me within 30 minutes with a plan of action. When she called back 20 minutes later, she informed me that she had reached out to the Canadian Service Manager, sent him and e-mail and copied me on it as well. She provided his name and contact information including his cell phone number. Within a few hours, I had received a call from Freddy who informed me that he was arranging for a local service person to perform a service call and that I should hear from him within a day. In the meantime, Freddy and Lisette arranged for spare parts to be flown to the local service company, so that the problem could be resolved on the first visit. To make a long story short, the problem was resolved by very professional local service people from Murphys Appliance Repair in Dartmouth, NS. They received technical guidance and support from Freddy over the phone during their visit - and our problem was resolved beyond our expectations. The leadership clearly came from Lisette and she deserves the recognition and a Customer Service Hero Award for doing so. Kudos to her superiors for supporting her initiative! In the face of a horrific situation, she mobilized her local, national, international team and their partners to rescue a loyal Fisher Paykel Customer, stranded without local service on very high end appliances. For all of this, we are very grateful and share our thanks with Lisette, Freddy, Trevor (and Trevors nephew) and whomever else was part of this chain of support.

Had my washing machine about 18 months, when the drain pump went, then about 4 weeks later the circuit board went down. What gets me angry is that each part takes over a week to get repaired to the machine, as they have to order the part. I find this outrageous that it takes that long. You can only contact Fisher Paykel on the 1300 number in NZ, and theyre not worried that you are without your appliance for however long, as the parts come from their Queensland depot, and they dont do overnight express. So I asked why they didnt have a service center with their parts here in WA, and every Capital City, but they said its not necessary to do that. What a lot of bull. Their customer service is disgusting. Washing machines are very needy when you have kids. Waiting for over a week to get any appliance fixed in this day and age is bad management, and they need to look at ways to provide quicker and better service to the consumers that buy their products that keeps them in jobs. This will be the last Fisher Paykel appliance I ever buy - never again!

About a month ago I purchased a double wall oven made by Fisher & Paykel. I was a little worried by the reviews I read, but I know that more people who are unhappy with their purchases tend to write reviews because they want to air their grievance. I love my FP ovens. They work perfectly. They have about 10 different settings depending on the type of food you are cooking. The ovens work perfectly. They hold the correct temperature and everything I have made in them has come out perfectly. I love that the shelves move in and out at the gentlest touch. No struggle to get heavy pans in and out of this oven. The only thing I havent tried is the cleaning cycle. That was the problem with my Thermador ovens. The high heat of the cleaning cycle burned out the circuit boards---three times. No more Thermador for me. So far I am a happy baker.

First off, Kathy from Milford, OR, the loud noise in the dryer is the ball bearing (1) on the right side of the dryer as you look at it. Get some white grease and carefully remove and clean the ball bearing, then cover in white grease and even more carefully replace so that the drum, etc. is balanced. The lint contraption is non-functional after each 20th load or so. The lint screen has to be removed and washed by hand and the rest of the unit vacuumed out and then reassembled. After doing this for years, it’s now down to a bi-monthly exercise of 25-30 minutes, including putting away tools and vacuum.Im burdened with too many Fisher Paykel appliances: a double oven, washer, dryer, and double dish drawer dish washer. All in some form of disrepair. The double ovens lower oven stopped working (suspect circuit board), washer has cracked top, control panel buttons breaking, the dryer has had the screen removed to clean so many times the screws are stripped, and the dishwasher filter screen in the top drawer keeps popping up and stopping the sprayer arm from revolving and then I just wash the dishes by hand. All of Fisher Paykel should be closed and customer appliances replaced.

We bought a DD603 dishwasher in 2002 and it has worked reasonably well since then. However, a problem seems to have developed on the top drawer. I recently cut my finger when pulling it open, and discovered three sharp, probably metal projections on the pull. I can only conclude that this must be a design defect. My grandchildren have been in hospital with bad stomachs and we have put it down to the substandard dishwasher. We were told they would replace it and had a call from them but they have never come to replace it. I have called them at least 20 times and emailed with no outcome. My next step is to arrange a solicitor to get my money back.

My first F&P dryer worked fine for a year and then continually tripped thermal switches. One actually has to remove a panel to reset this as it is not accessible from the outside of the dryer. F&P finally replaced this (well, I got a new dryer for the privilege of paying them $250 for the prorated use of the old dryer). I also spent another $250 re-venting the dryer because they were concerned that the venting that worked fine for my 25 year old Maytag was insufficient for their unit. Dryer #2 developed a bearing squeak--quiet at first but now is extremely loud. The tech from the company that sold me the dryer claims the bolt is frozen and the bearing cannot be replaced or at least cannot be replaced for a service call cheaper than half the price of actually replacing the dryer. Meanwhile, THAT store has ceased selling the product and no longer will work on F&P machines. The tech recommended by F&P after this told me the same thing and recommended that I save my money and buy Samsung.

On 3/24, we purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator from Lowes. We had the refrigerator delivered on 4/6. The refrigerator worked for only two weeks when the power went out completely. We called F&P on 4/20 (the day it went out) and we were referred to a local authorized service provider. We called the the company they recommended and were not able to schedule service until 4/24. The technician came out and found that the circuit board was bad. How can a refrigerator that is only two weeks old have a bad circuit board? The technician ordered a new circuit board on 4/25. It took a week for the part to arrive and he came to install the new circuit board on 5/4.Within a few hours of the technician leaving, we noticed an F11 error, which has something to do with a fan. We noticed, at that time, that the refrigerator was not cooling, although the freezer seemed to be working. We called the technician back and were not able to schedule another visit until 5/9. By the time the technician comes on 5/9, we will be 19 days with no refrigerator. It is simply not acceptable for a new appliance to work for only two weeks. We paid $2,000 for this refrigerator and it has been broken for longer than it actually worked. I called customer service on 5/4 and explained everything that has occurred. I was offered a 3-month extension of the warranty. How does that fix the problem? Why would I want to extend a warranty on something that doesnt even work? I was put on hold to speak with a supervisor and coincidentally none were available. At that point, the representative told me that she looked over my file again and could offer to extend my warranty an extra six months. This is simply not a solution. How does extending the warranty make up for not having a working refrigerator for longer than having a working one, throwing away all of the food we had in the refrigerator, and having to eat every meal out for three weeks? I told the representative that this was not acceptable and I still wanted to speak with a supervisor. So, now my file has been expedited, and she said I should get a call from a supervisor on Monday (5/7). I hope I do. This refrigerator is clearly a lemon and should be considered DOA (dead on arrival). We should be sent a new refrigerator and receive a credit for our loss of use for three weeks.

I purchased a Fisher & Paykel dryer in Dec 2010. Less than a year later, it would not heat. It has been in for repair twice. I have since had to reset the thing for every load of clothes. Now, it will not even dry a load after resetting it, back at the repair shop. I will never buy another Fisher & Paykel product.

We bought a brand new house with brand new appliances. Since move in, our warming drawer and dishwasher have not worked properly. The dishwasher has always leaked and the warming drawer was actually midwifed AT THE FACTORY. It turned on high and wouldnt turn off. It melted its own thermostat and control knob and was a major fire hazard. We had to turn off the breaker. The parts have since been replaced. The dishwasher is a major leak problem. It is ruining our beautiful new floor. We have had 4 services on it and a replaced part and the bottom drawer still leaks. Despite the fact that it is under manufacturers warranty, the company wont replace it. Save yourself the pain and DO NOT PURCHASE from this company.
