I meant to write you sooner about this but kept putting it off for two yrs. now. First, I had problems with the washer and the control panel. It was fixed over and over all during the warranty phase, but when the warranty ran out, it was suggested I purchase a new one which I did. Its fine now. The Dryer on the other hand is still a problem. It first quit drying. I had it repaired to the tune of $200+. New parts had to be installed. Then it became very noisy, shaking the whole house. I have had someone out twice and here I am again, listening the the noise. Its the ball bearings, I believe. They put in new parts but its still the same thing. Can you please recommend a knowledgeable washer/dryer service out in this area? Thank you.

I purchased a Dish Drawer dishwasher for a kitchen remodel in 2008. I was lured by the fact there are two (2) independent washer units; one on top of the other which allowed flexibility in cleaning as well as potential addition kitchen utensil storage. Troubles began within the first 90-days. I have summoned kitchen appliance repair companies listed as authorized by Fisher Paykel numerous times with the last service attendant indicating there are serious design flaws with the appliance. At this date the following had been experienced: The bottom dishwasher unit is completely non-functional, the touch wash controls in the operating unit do not work correctly; and now are stuck in one washer cycle. I was informed by one of the techs that came out there is a design flaw that allows water to seep into the controls. For $1,500 for a dishwasher I would have expected more. What is more alarming is the sales rep when I bought the appliance indicated the manufacturer also made kidney dialysis machines. If this is the case (and my research indicates this is true) there are numerous fatalities if the quality of the dialysis machines is the same as the Dish Drawer. Do not under any circumstances purchase anything this Company makes. The quality is terrible!!!

Ive had Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart Washing Machine Model Number WL26CW1
Ive had Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart Washing Machine Model Number WL26CW1 for approximately 7 years now and there has been big trouble. After the 2 year warranty expired it started to have problems. I contacted F&P and a repairman came out within a couple days. He determined that the washer needed a new circuit board (brain) which he would have to order. It took about 6 weeks to get the new brain and have it installed at a cost of almost $250 US.One and a half years after the new brain was installed the machine developed a new problem with the LCD display which is located on the circuit board (brain). Sometimes the LCD display cannot be viewed, nothing shows up in the window. Other times it works fine or it will show the wash selections in a faint image to which I can make a selection. The times that the wash selections are not visible I just count off the selections until I reach the one that I want (yes, Ive memorized them) and the washer will engage and work. However, at the end of any wash cycle instead of stopping the selected wash cycle starts all over and will continue to run over and over and over until I intervene and turn the machine off. Ive been doing this now for almost 4 years. I refuse to pay another $250 US plus to buy another new brain (circuit board) and dont want to buy a new washing machine until this F&P money drain totally craps out.

I already had one of the F & P double-drawer dishwashers at our other house before we moved here and we gathered the whole kitchen here. I put a single-desk drawer on each side of the sink and then a regular storage drawer below so I don’t have to bend over. I chose the Fisher & Paykel appliance because I was fascinated by the concept of the desk drawers and design-wise, doing things a little different. And then when we downsized from a 6000 square foot home to a 3000 square foot home, my husband and I both said we wanted to get them again. So we went 90 miles away to get them. We like the new models of F & P appliance compared with the old ones we’ve had in the past. They’re better, and the new ones are so quiet. We just love them.

I am very happy with my new dishwasher! The drawers are so much easier to use than the pull out racks on my old one. The wheels were always popping off or coming off the track. No problems now! The bottom drawer is perfect for smaller loads. No more waiting for more dirty dishes to make a load. Its quiet and has a setting for fast for a quick run. I love it!

I purchased a washer in 2006. It was DOA (dead on arrival) with bad control valve. I replaced it immediately. Since then, we have replaced this valve 3 more times plus pump and control board. The valve went out again today and flooded the laundry room. We are afraid to leave water on since it may never shut off the water flow.

I like the Fisher & Paykel two drawer dishwasher. Unfortunately the top drawer computer board has never worked since the day it was installed - it wont shut off. We talked to them and originally they were going to send somebody but then they said it was out of warranty. We had bought it but didnt install it until a year after. It stayed in the crate as we were renovating the house. Were still in the process of getting something done. Id hate to buy a whole new computer board for something that didnt work since the day it was installed. The bottom drawer works fine so it has nothing to do with the installation or electricity. It has good design but not the best quality.

I had a service call due to excessive squeaking. The lint trap screen failed and was subsequently replaced. I also had the washer looked at, because the water was not filling. And drain tube was fixed. He said we would probably need to replace the bearings. My husband replaced the drum bearing, but the drum belt tension roller bearings are original and are probably the culprit of the continued squeak. Also, the dryer not drying very well. Due to economic restraints and cost of bearing and poor design that make service costly, we are looking at ditching the dryer. Based on the premium purchase price, the dryer is certainly not looking to provide the 15- to 20-year trouble-free service life expectancy; and we are highly dissatisfied with this product. My husband has been out of work (under-employed for the past 4, going on 5 years), so service calls are costly. It would be cheaper for us to park it on the curb and buy used reliable dryer than to provide service. Can you help us out? It sure would keep us F&P fans. I have seen you have provided repair for others free of charge. I would appreciate if you could offer the same treatment in our case. Thanks. I would prefer to settle this with your customer service manager, USA.

I bought my Fisher-Paykel dishwasher in 1/09. It worked fine for a few months, but started beeping and would stop running. I contacted Fisher-Paykel and they recommended I use the dishwasher cleaner, which I did. It ran fine for a while but again started beeping. This time I contacted Jeffers-McGill in Columbia, where I bought the dishwasher. They were very unconcerned and gave me the name of a repair company. I have had 2 technicians come, neither seemed to know how to fix it, and after paying $132, I still dont have a dishwasher that is running correctly. One of the technicians indicated it had been installed wrong. I have now spent over $200 for a $1,000 machine, and still dont have a dishwasher I can depend on. In fact, the 1st dishwasher I bought from Jeffers-McGill started giving me problems after only 2 years, at which time I bought the Fisher-Paykel. I will never buy another appliance from Jeffers-McGill, nor will my family, former good customers of theirs. What do I do now? I am very upset about spending so much money on an elite appliance that is not living up to its reputation.

We owned a KitchenAid dishwasher for 30 years without a hitch. When we updated the kitchen, the salesman from Grand Appliance recommended the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer. What a mistake. It has never worked right. We have had so many service calls that I cant count them. I will replace it eventually with another KitchenAid. Perhaps you should take this one and analyze it like they do in med school with corpses - and perhaps you can figure out where you went wrong. By the way, not only is the electrical stuff faulty, but it simply does not clean the dishes. If I wash them first, it might sort of rinse them. Plus, to run it for 132 minutes for the small amount of dishes it holds is not exactly eco-friendly.

We purchased the refrigerator on July 2, 2013. Fisher Paykel seems to be one of the few manufacturers with boxes narrower than 35. Today is July 6, all is set up. Its been running for 3 days. However, the cold water dispenser is not dispensing ice water. The water is at 62.5 degrees Fahrenheit. That is the same temperature of the water from the tap. We have well water which comes out at 62.5 degrees Fahrenheit. So the water is not being chilled. I may as well drink from the tap. How do you get this water colder? It wasnt necessary for us to purchase this model if the cold water dispenser doesnt chill the water. What is the design rate of ice cube production?

I have been trying for 6 months now to get the correct part for my 2 year gas range, the oven igniter does not work. I have been sent the wrong part 4 times and in my last discussion with their service department (3 weeks ago) I was told they do not make the replacement part I require. I asked them if they are going to provide me with a new replacement range. They said they would get back to me and to date I have heard nothing even though they promised to get back to me the next day. I have sent numerous emails following up and they are ignored. I am now taking them to small claims court to settle the matter. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BUYS a FISHER PAYKEL PRODUCT. High prices, poor quality and poor service.

I liked the glass shelves and the look and feel of the Fisher & Paykel ref and it was the right fit. Refrigeration is good, but the freezer is terrible from the minute we started using it. My husband was quite upset. The ice maker at first didnt make ice. Now, it makes ice, but its all clumped together. I called Fisher & Paykel customer service two times and couldnt get a straight answer so we gave up on it. We bought a second refrigerator, but we still have the Fisher & Paykel. They need better customer service.

I was told in the store that the Fisher & Paykel refrigerator was a very quiet model, but its not. Its noisy and I did have to call them because since I got it, I cant sleep at night. Its cycling continually and extremely loud, like a jet taking off. The technician came out and said that I didnt have much in my freezer and suggested putting in jugs of water. But since then, I do have a roommate who uses the freezer and its a bit quieter, but not as quiet as I thought it would be. I had been concerned that my old ref was not energy efficient and thats why I got rid of it and got this one and it seems to be functioning okay, but I dont know how much energy its saving me. I am disappointed with the noise and I check back at the store and they said well, the new appliances do cycle on and are sensitive to drops in temperature. So it could be I didnt get complete information and didnt research this completely as I needed to. Im happy that its got a modern design and I like the size. If it were a bit quieter, I would be happier.

We bought a F&P washer and dryer a couple of years ago and have had trouble since day one! We have spent several hundred dollars in repairs with much frustration! The washer went first. Of course, it was my fault because a dime was left in pants pocket by accident and sent the whole machine into a tailspin! With conventional machines, that wouldnt have been an issue! Then, the fins on the rotator broke off and was cutting into my clothes as I washed them! Then, bearings went out on my dryer and ruined 2 loads of clothes with black grease before I realized what it was! Now, 2 weeks ago, element and thermostat had to be repaired after a week of laundry piled up! I still have the bill for over $200. I havent even had a chance to pay yet and now the lint bucket is stuck! Seems like it should be an easy thing to fix but with all of the smarts of the machine, its probably something to do with electronics not releasing it. I am so disappointed in these products. Something big would have to happen to make me ever buy another F&P product! I had a good ole Maytag washer and dryer before and used it for many, many years with no issues. My husband wanted me to upgrade, now I wish I hadnt given my Maytags away as they are still working great for my son who had just bought his first home!

Our service technician came this morning and the washer is fixed. No parts needed! Apparently, a couple of tub support/positioning springs came undone during a spin cycle when a load unbalanced. Thank you.

My husband is a carpenter and loves watching This Old House and Hometime - that’s how he heard about Fisher & Paykel washer. And then when we went, that was one of the models that they had and we really liked it. I had never heard of it and my husband was the one that’s like, “Oh, that’s a really nice one!” That would be a big reason why we ended up going with that model. I haven’t had much luck with my Maytag and so we went with another brand. And then of course everything that could go wrong with it, when they came out, “Well, we’ve never seen that happen before.” So I was like, “Okay. I’m done spending a ton of money on them.” We purchased a higher brand washer. It was only like $399 and I thought, “Well, even if it only lasts 5 years, okay.” It actually died before a year was out. When we went back to the gentleman that we purchased it from, they wouldn’t honor it anymore. He said, “Sorry, you’re out of warranty” and I’m like, “Really?!” Actually, I should clarify because the first one went out within a year so they replaced it. And they sent us a different one and that one died. And they weren’t going to replace that because my original year was up. The gentleman who we had purchased from was like, “No. I’ll stand behind it. You come down and we’ll get you something else.” That’s when we chose the one that we have now. It’s just my husband and I. Our two kids are at college so I’m like, “We don’t do that much laundry. I’m not that hard on them!” The Fisher & Paykel is just phenomenal, and I’ve told everyone. My husband and I have talked, that’s the brand we’ll look out, first and foremost.

In April we purchased a $2000 Fisher Paykel fridge with water and ice maker. We quickly realized the door did not close properly and was misaligned as the water/ice maker worked roughly one week on one week off. We called our dealer and they sent out a service representative who told us the water/ice maker could be replaced but he didnt know how to fix the misalignment of the door. He said he would get back to me. By late July nothing had happened and he basically washed his hands of it telling me the Fisher Paykel regional manager had ordered parts and would get back to us. By late September the parts had still not arrived so we started contacting Fisher Paykel America for help. They kept referring everything back to the regional manager who, for some reason, refused to contact us with updates. We were still waiting for a fix when they told us in October that the fridge misalignment could not be fixed. We asked for another fridge and was told that they didnt make this model any more and the closest model that would fit in our space was $500 more and was 0.5 cu. feet smaller. I asked that they replace our fridge with this one at no extra cost and they refused only offering an in-store credit for the original amount. Sorry I expect more for all the grief and inconvenience they have cased us.

I purchased a FP washer & dryer in 2008 with good recommendations. What a disappointment! Noisy, noisy, noisy. Im embarrassed when we have company and they ask, Whats that noise? I am embarrassed to say its brand name. This is supposed to be a good washer and dryer. The washer is off balance with every load of sheets I wash and plenty of other loads. What an inconvenience to constantly try to re-balance the loads. Also, the design of the dispensers is awful. I have to take them apart and clean them because disgusting black stuff is lurking under the covers. The dryer takes so long to dry. The lint bucket is emptied after each load but about monthly, my husband has to take the lint filter assembly apart to clean the internal parts or the sensor gets covered and the dryer works even longer.Ive been using automatic washers and dryers for 42 years and have never been more dissatisfied. I will never recommend FP to anyone, in fact, my recommendation for an FP product would be to stay away!

The recommended and authorized repairman arrived and discovered that the main circuit board was not functioning, so my top drawer was unable to work. He had the wrong part so he left, and was to return four days later. On that occasion, although he installed the board, there was then an additional problem with a wire. He left again, and had to order that part. Five days later I had to call to find out what was going on. The HiTech service, or rising service solution person, as their caller ID reads, informed me that they were service techs, not a warehouse, and so parts had to be ordered. Every time the guy comes, its another long trip, paid by me from their location. How can you be an authorized service and not carry parts? Also, I find the Fisher Paykel website very unhelpful re: technicians. I talked to a living person, and she had no more information than I did, so that also was useless. We went online and found that many other consumers had the same problem. Finally, we asked for an authorized service company. They recommended KAM appliances. It cost 95 dollars to get them to come out and tell us that they needed a part to make the repair. When they returned, they told us that the part was defective and they would talk to F& P again. I purchased a brand new F&P washer and dryer. We really do like them, and we have had no problems except the dryer tumbling issue which others have had. Last year in September, the dryer made loud grinding noises and then parts fell onto the laundry in the dryer. We replaced the parts and again the parts broke off onto the laundry in the dryer. I am checking to see if F&P will pay for these parts or if there is a consumer class action out there we can join. Can anyone give us information on this subject? Thank you!

I absolutely love my new washer and dryer set by Fisher and Paykel. I have had zero problems with the machines since I purchased them in August of this year. The Eco features save me money on water costs, and my clothes dry very fast due to the powerful spin cycle. I cannot recommend highly enough. Best appliance purchase ever!!!

We bought a fridge and a gas stove in October 2015. It is a nightmare. The stove does not have a warm temperature, so even at the lowest, everything burns. No clock on the stove to know if the stove has reached the good temperature, or no button either to program cooking time. Nothing, zero, and everything burns. The fridge? Each time you open the freezer door, it makes an awful noise with the plastic roulettes. The service guy said, The noise will go away in time... In time of what??? Very bad service also. PLEASE, DONT BUY FISHER PAYKEL. Waste of money and quality.

While our experience with the local vendor/service provider for our Fisher Paykel refrigerator has been less than stellar the product is superb. The refrigerator is exceptionally quiet and fits neatly into the cabinetry designed for an apartment sized unit. I am personally delighted with the stainless steel look that still allows for the use of magnets to display refrigerator art offerings from the grandchildren. I will be purchasing a Fisher Paykel refrigerator for our new dwelling.

The worst I ever had! If you need to deal with F&P at Botany, 78 Springs Road RUN!! To replace the faulty draws I have to take 4 days off work!! After waiting the whole day it for delivery, it was delivered 4:45 pm and left downstairs cause the delivery company, (which it seems to be separate to company that installs - very efficient) didnt know it needs to go to the 2nd floor (and no one asked - great communication NOT).Second time 2 guys got it upstairs and then I had to book a technician to install - No follow up service, and the guys that bring the dishwasher dont tell you anything about it. When I called to book the technician, I explicitly asked if the old dishwasher will be picked up on the same day and I was reassured it will, but guess what it wasnt! And now I need to take another day off for it to be picked up! In addition to this, the supervisor I talked to was rude and refused to put me to her manager, she just hang the phone me! So GOOD LUCK dealing with F&P.

Fisher Paykel Intuitive Dryer - We purchased a new Fisher Paykel washer and dryer three years ago which was installed in our new home on an interior wall with a straight shot through the roof exhaust pipe. After only four months of using the new dryer, the exhaust pipe became stopped-up with a considerable amount of lint. The exhaust cap on the roof had to be removed to allow access for removal of the lint from the exhaust pipe. This process had to be repeated about every 4 to 5 months since. Since the dryer lint basket very seldom collected lint and had to be emptied, four weeks ago we had the service technician out who determined the lint screen had been torn in numerous areas. Since the lint screen is within an enclosed area, he advised there must be some defect in the dryer lint basket which was cutting the screen. Over a period of time if left unchecked, this could have become a fire hazard. Is there something that can be done to prevent this from happening again? If so, please advise.

I love the fridge. We just bought it and I would have another one in a New York minute. But our fridge is having a problem and were hoping to get it fixed. The problem is that my crispers below are not meeting the thing on the top that closes them off. Weve gone to the people we bought it from. They came here to look at it, they forgot about it again, they came back again, now theyre coming tomorrow, hopefully to fix it. And I hope they can because I have lost a lot of veggies and stuff. Other than that this is an amazing fridge, the rest is great, its very, very quiet. I dont have to worry about hearing it. The ice cubes are pure and clean and nice. Its just great and it looks fantastic in my kitchen. It’s a counter sunk so it fits so well. It’s a good fridge.

In 2006, I decided to upgrade a perfectly operating set of Maytag washer and dryer that I purchased in 1992. That included a set of Fisher & Paykel washer and dryer. These units have been a problem from the beginning. I have the top load dryer. It got to the point to where the dealer could no longer help me. They even gave me a replacement after 2 years of ongoing problems. Now, the replacement is malfunctioning. I hate to say it, but these units are junk. I bought them because of reputation. But I will never ever recommend anyone buying them.

My granddaughter was getting married and moving into a home and needed a lot of help with outfitting it so I gave her my old washer and dryer. So then I went out to an appliance store looking for a new washer and dryer and found out about Fisher & Paykel. I had good recommendation from the owner who told me that’s what he had at his house so I chose to buy this brand and I’ve been very satisfied with my first F&P washer and dryer. Really, there are some things that are much better than the previous ones we’ve owned - I think that they spin water out more and the clothes are dryer when you take them out of the washer to put them in the dryer. They don’t have as much water in them so less dry time.

I absolutely hated the Maxima Maytag set that I had gotten and had been a Maytag person for about 30 years. I actually got rid of it, a very recent purchase of a Maytag frontloading set, because I didn’t like them at all and I like this Fisher & Paykel top loading set a lot. I love it! I’m really pleased with the purchase. It’s much more efficient. It’s easy, easy, easy, easy to use, not complicated at all. I like the fact that it’s simple and that it doesn’t have a lot of extras that I don’t need and would never use. But actually, even as it is, it has more than I use now, but it’s good. Space-wise, it’s not as deep, which is great, because in my case, I was kind of surprised by the depth of the front loader and it was inconvenient because it got in our way. So that was another reason why I got rid of the other one. And I’d only had the other set for a year. There’s two comments that I’d like to make with this F&P set… First thing is that I’m unhappy not being able to soak clothes because that’s a nuisance. I’m used to old top loaders where you could fill up the tub, put some bleach in there and soak it overnight, and you can’t do that with this. And unless there’s a way that I can be taught how to do it, I actually called the main headquarters and they simply said it wasn’t possible. Secondly, I’m not sure if it’s what I’ve been using for laundry soap, but it seems like things are a little dingier than they used to be. I’m not sure. I think that might be the soap that I’m using. It’s the whites aren’t getting as white as I’m used to. But I don’t think that’s the washing machine; I think that’s my products. The cleaning products that I use, I’ve always made my own, and I’ve never had a problem with things getting completely clean before and it seems like maybe there’s a residue because they’re not using as much water. And so, I changed back to the high efficiency stuff and everything seems just fine, but it’s a lot more expensive than what I do. Overall, it’s a great machine!

7/28/14 I have not been able to find any good reviews of this product, so I'm going to do my best to give one to help others as they consider buying this fridge. I know people want to know how a product lasts over time, so I'll do my best to remember to keep updating this review. As of today, the fridge has been up and running for 2 days. It is important to note that our fridge is a B-stock unit (was returned by someone, but never used. They listed the reason as "damaged packaging"). We did not buy through this website. THE BACKSTORY Our previous fridge was a big 36" standard depth white GE side-to-side that someone gave us for free. We knew it was only a temporary solution, and started saving for its replacement for when it would die on us. The rest of our kitchen appliances were stainless, so we were looking forward to the day our big white fridge kicked the bucket so we could have a more uniform look. Yesterday, we got home from a trip and our fridge was making loud and scary noises that wouldn't stop. We saw this as the perfect excuse to make the switch. I had heard of Fisher and Paykel before, and was told they were a good solution for a long-lasting fridge without all the unnecessary bells and whistles (that end up breaking and causing service calls down the road). I also thought this was the most elegant looking out of all of its competitors. I like the simple, flat look of this unit. I headed over to our closest appliance outlet store and found a B-stock unit that was never used (still had the plastic wrap), but had a dent in the back. We saved a thousand dollars on this unit because of a dent nobody would ever see. Score! INSTALLATION I took it home in my van and let it stand for 8 hours before turning it on (guy at store said this was important to do so all the liquids in the compressor could settle into place after transporting it on its back - better safe than sorry). During that time, I installed the included water filter and hoses to the fridge. It comes with everything you need except the piece that actually taps into your water line. Since we already had that from our previous fridge, this was a breeze. No need to call a plumber. The instruction manual was very easy to follow on installation of water components. I am the least handy guy you could know, so trust me when I say this was easy! During the time the fridge sat unplugged, I also wiped down the shelves and bins, took off the plastic wrap, and read the instruction manual. I HIGHLY recommend reading the manual. There are so many features in this fridge that aren't highlighted on the companies website that I never would have known about had I not read the manual. I'll go into more detail in the "Features" Section of this review. After the 8 hours, I plugged the fridge in and let it get to its proper temperature (about 2 hours). I used this time to adjust the front legs (it is supposed to be raised up 1/2" higher in the front than the back for ease of door use). During this time, the exterior sides and back of the unit got HOT! Like, I'm afraid this thing is going to explode, hot. Thankfully after reaching its desired interior temps, the exterior cooled off substantially. Today, it isn't even warm. I made sure to run all the air pockets out of the water line, and discarded the first few batches of ice as instructed. FEATURES First of all, keep in mind that we were previously using a big, standard depth side-by-side before, and have never had a counter-depth fridge, or one with a freezer on the bottom. Having made the transition, it is clear that these fridges are not for everyone. I'll try to explain in more detail as I go. - Counter-Depth: This opened up our kitchen far beyond what we were expecting. I know its only a few inches shallower, but it made a huge difference for us. Our kitchen just got bigger and brighter! Our fridge is no longer the elephant in the room. This fridge looks great, but blends in. It does come with some trade offs. The depth of storage in the fridge is very shallow. For example, I don't see the ability to fit a large pizza box in the fridge or the freezer (untested theory). - Doors: I've been to some peoples houses where their french doors were really hard to either open or close. These open with no problem, and close even easier. The freezer door is a bit harder to open than the fridge doors, but not difficult by any stretch. - Hidden top hinges: I love how the top hinges are covered in the front. It is a small attention to detail which really makes this thing look clean and sharp. It also makes cleaning the top of the fridge so much easier! - Water dispenser: Some people may not like that this doesn't have a door ice dispenser (ice is dispensed in a bin in the freezer). It is perfect for us, I love the shallow water chamber that doesn't cut into storage space on the inside door. It also is easier to clean, and you can fill any size container without worrying if it will fit. For us, the water comes out fast, and fills things up quickly. People who like to set a glass in the water cavity and walk away while it fills up will not like this feature. It is too shallow to set a glass in, you will need to hold it the entire time. Not a problem for us. - Shelving: This model has 3 shelves (2 of which are height adjustable). These shelves go across the full width of the fridge. Some of this units competitors have adjustable shelves that only go halfway for more customization, but in my opinion that is just more breakable pieces, and it cuts into the amount of things you can store. The full-width shelves work perfectly for our needs. Also, many competitors' fridges have white plastic spill proofing around the edges of their shelves. In my opinion, this makes a fridge look cheap and flimsy. The ActiveSmart fridge has beautiful brushed metal spill proofing, it looks so much more elegant and uniform. Sounds like a small thing, but it is one of my favorite features! - Door Storage: Because of the shallow water dispenser, you get full storage on both doors. This increases the storage like no other. There are large compartments with dividers for gallon sized jugs and tall items. At the top of each french door, there is a compartment with a lid for butters or cheeses. Our previous fridge had one of these compartments with a rounded lid, it really limited storage, but these have a squared off lid that allows you to stack items without worrying about closing the lid. My biggest complaint of this fridge is that these lids don't stay open when you lift them. So you need one hand to hold the lid open, and another to grab whatever is inside. It may sound negligible, but i'm usually holding something else when I need something from these compartments. Hopefully I'll get used to it. As of right now, it's really annoying. - Wine/Bottle holders: There really isn't a place in this fridge where you would be able to store a wine bottle standing up other than the doors, so they included 4 horizontal holders that clip to the back of every shelf. These holders also stack upon another so if you don't have 4 bottles to hold, they don't take up a lot of room. Very thoughtful feature. If you insist on storing your wine or tall bottled drinks standing up, you may not like this fridge. - REMOVABLE BINS!: This is my very favorite feature of this fridge. All drawers in the fridge and freezer are actually pull out shelves with clear bins sitting on top. This is so useful for so many reasons. Instead of shuffling through the vegetables or fruits to find what you are looking for with the fridge doors open, you can just pull out the desired bin and take it to the counter, find what you need and easily put it back. The same is true for meats/cheese bins, frozen drawers, and the ice bin. Saves tons of energy. Also, it makes cleaning drawers out a breeze. Just pull it out, rinse the bin in the sink, and dry out. I love this feature! - Crisper drawers: Like most fridges, this has separate drawers for fruits and vegetables with a separate humidity setting for each. Keep in mind, you need to open both french doors to pull out the drawer. Even though there are two separate sections, the full drawer they share takes up the full width of the fridge. People who only want to open one door and pull out fruits or veggies will not like this fridge. - Meats and Cheese Drawers: I like that there are two separate sections for these. We use the left one for lunch meat and cheeses, and the right one for other meats (steak, beef, fish, etc...). It is especially nice to use one of these as a dedicated meat thawing section without worry of any juices finding their way to other items in the fridge. Again, you need to open both french doors to access these compartments. - Lighting: Our previous fridge had a light in the top back center. If we had anything in front of it (which was always), it would darken the rest of the fridge, making it difficult to see other items throughout. This fridge has a strip of LED lighting at the top front of the unit which allow for full illumination of the entire contents of the fridge no matter how you have your food arranged. Very nice touch! There are no lights on the doors, but enough spills from the inside of the fridge that you will be able to make out what you need even in the middle of the night. - Ice machine: Since this is only our 2nd day, all I can say is it works as advertised so far. I know the ice machine is usually the biggest issue people have with any fridge, so I'll keep my eye on it and let you know if anything weird happens over time. The default setup is that in the freezer, there is a top shelf with 2 big bins across the width. In the left big bin, there is a smaller one that takes up half the width of that bin, and that is the ice bin. If you require more ice, you can just remove the smaller bin and let the ice dispense into the bigger bin. With either bin, it is supposed to stop producing ice when it is full. If you need even more ice, you can fill up the big bin on the left, switch it with the right bin, and fill up that one too. Lots of versatility, and the removable bins are great if you are entertaining! - Freezer: The freezer has a top shelf that pulls out with the ice bin, plus a bin and a half of storage for other things. Then there is a large cavity below for the storage of everything else. If you are a person who usually packs out your freezer of your current fridge, I don't think you will enjoy a counter-depth freezer-on-the bottom model. This is definitely more for the person who has a larger ratio of fresh food to frozen food. I can easily see people needing to dig around the lower cavity if they over fill it. For our family, we don't need much freezer space, so it works perfect for us so far. - Noise: As of right now, there is a constant hum that is about the volume of somebody whispering softly. It is audible, but not something you can hear unless you are in the kitchen. I'm not sure if this will always hum, or if it is just because we haven't filled up our ice bin to the top yet, and the ice machine is constantly working. I'll update the review when we find out. - ActiveSmart Tech: I don't really know what it is, other than it's supposed to do a good job of keeping your food cold. Mission accomplished so far. - Other features: Sabbath mode, open door alarm (90 seconds for fridge, 60 seconds for freezer), ability to turn off open door alarm (for cleaning), water dispenser lock (for cleaning or curious kids), ice bin on/off, fast ice, temperature controls, bottle chill function (allows you to chill a beverage quickly in freezer, and will sound alarm when it is done), fast freeze (for quick freezing of fresh food), water filter replacement indicator, lock fridge controls (for cleaning) and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Fridge controls are located inside the fridge. WHO WOULD LOVE THIS FRIDGE People who: - Have more fresh food than frozen food - Don't need to store extra deep items (large pizza box, for example)* SEE UPDATES - Appreciate removable storage bins - Like sleek, simple, modern design - Want to maximize the storage of the inside of their fridge - Like good lighting - Want to be able to fill pitchers and other large containers from the door water dispenser - Want easy opening and closing doors - Want to be able to view everything in their fridge at a glance without needing to move things out of the way. First off, Kathy from Milford, OR, the loud noise in the dryer is the ball bearing (1) on the right side of the dryer as you look at it. Get some white grease and carefully remove and clean the ball bearing, then cover in white grease and even more carefully replace so that the drum, etc. is balanced. The lint contraption is non-functional after each 20th load or so. The lint screen has to be removed and washed by hand and the rest of the unit vacuumed out and then reassembled. After doing this for years, it’s now down to a bi-monthly exercise of 25-30 minutes, including putting away tools and vacuum.Im burdened with too many Fisher Paykel appliances: a double oven, washer, dryer, and double dish drawer dish washer. All in some form of disrepair. The double ovens lower oven stopped working (suspect circuit board), washer has cracked top, control panel buttons breaking, the dryer has had the screen removed to clean so many times the screws are stripped, and the dishwasher filter screen in the top drawer keeps popping up and stopping the sprayer arm from revolving and then I just wash the dishes by hand. All of Fisher Paykel should be closed and customer appliances replaced.

Very dissatisfied with Fisher Paykel. I bought 4 appliances from them totaling over 11,000 dollars. The dishwasher was missing parts and the refrigerator did not work. After 6 weeks of back and forth with the company giving me misinformation and every employee telling me different things to do and making me in charge of lining up appliance service with 4 days needed off of work that resulted in them not replacing a bad refrigerator but saying they would repair. The wheels were also broken with the services which ruined my floor and once they replace the refrigerator they will not guarantee. They do a typical customer service routine, but could care less about the actual customer. My next home would never have their appliances.

My F & P dual drawer dishwasher never seems to clean well. The area under the filter/screen is always full of water and F & P says thats normal. The screen itself needs to be rinsed every several of loads as grease seems to build up on the inside. I run DW cleaner every dozen loads or so and it doesnt seem to help. I am very dissatisfied with this product. I got it so my disabled son can easily reach into the top drawer for loading and unloading and it works well for this purpose but its hardly worth it if the dishes have to be washed by hand after theyve been run through the machine.

In 2008, I purchased a washer/dryer from F&P. The person talked me into an F&P when I really wanted something else. Never hearing about this product, he convinced me it’s the best out there and their biggest seller. Boy, he was wrong! The washer sounds like a jet airplane when it spins. Sometimes, I have to spin them twice to get all the water out. The bearings in the dryer have been replaced 2-3 times, the thermostat, sensor module, and central module. Each time was at least $100 or more for a total of 5-6 times. I contacted a representative and was given a case number. Today, I called because the bearings are going again. That means another service charge. The next step will be the curb!

My first F&P dryer worked fine for a year and then continually tripped thermal switches. One actually has to remove a panel to reset this as it is not accessible from the outside of the dryer. F&P finally replaced this (well, I got a new dryer for the privilege of paying them $250 for the prorated use of the old dryer). I also spent another $250 re-venting the dryer because they were concerned that the venting that worked fine for my 25 year old Maytag was insufficient for their unit. Dryer #2 developed a bearing squeak--quiet at first but now is extremely loud. The tech from the company that sold me the dryer claims the bolt is frozen and the bearing cannot be replaced or at least cannot be replaced for a service call cheaper than half the price of actually replacing the dryer. Meanwhile, THAT store has ceased selling the product and no longer will work on F&P machines. The tech recommended by F&P after this told me the same thing and recommended that I save my money and buy Samsung.

I have purchased all these items and they have all malfunctioned just when out of warranty. I believe this is deliberate. The cost of repair is prohibitive to the extent that I have not bothered with the fridge or dryer however the dishdrawer showed an error code saying to call for a technician. I did this only to find that it worked again when the technician came out. I was forced to pay the call out fee for this. Most recently I wanted a new cutlery basket - not of my model but for the most recent one. I called and thought I had ordered the part - what arrived was one piece out of three. I called again and said I had not received all the parts and explained what I needed. I was then sent the same part that I already had again! I then called back and explained the 2 parts (each different) that I needed. I was then sent 2 of the same parts. I then called again and was told they could not work out which part I needed. We agreed I would send a photo and they would call me back when they got the photo. I received no phone call and called back. I was then sent a diagram to look at which I did and I explained which part I needed. I said that my dish drawer was 7 years old and I wanted the basket that came with the new model. I was then told that the part in the photo clipped onto the side of the cutlery basket. I explained that it was actually inserted into the cutlery basket. The man angrily repeated that it clipped onto the side and told me that it was the part I already had and did not need. I said that if read my email he would see that it was actually the part I needed. He then asked me for the serial number of the dish drawer. I said it would not help as the part I wanted actually came with the new model. He repeated angrily that he needed the serial number. I said that it would not help as my serial number was for a seven-year-old model. I said I would like to speak to someone else as he was upsetting me. I was then put on hold for 10 minutes. I then hung up. I rang again and spoke to Customer Care. I explained what had happened and advised that I still needed the part. I was told I would be called back about it. After 3 days I called back to be told that there were notes on the record to say that I had been called back that morning and a message had been left to say that the part would not be provided to me. I was near my phone at the time and there definitely was no call as verified by my phones missed call record. Ive now called again and am on hold - at this stage its been 35:07 minutes... I paid AU $1800 for my dish drawers 7 years ago - hardly a cheap product. My advice to anyone is: dont ever buy this brand. The appliances are designed to break and the after sales customer service is extremely poor. I have been treated with utter disrespect for my time and a complete lack of care for my feelings.

I got the refrigerator from Fisher and Paykel because it was the only one that fit. They should keep making them because a lot of people dont want to gut their kitchen in order to buy a refrigerator. It is excellent and everything seems to last longer. Its a better refrigerator but it makes strange noises which it has made it since day one. You dont hear it running but I think its gearing up to run. So it must be normal noise. I even had to buy the floor model because the place where I got it didnt know how to order them and they didnt even know what price to charge me. It fits a standard, old-fashioned, standard cabinet height. These new refrigerators that are fancy and glitz are too big for a normal house unless youre a millionaire.

I had decided to buy another brand, but was told in the store, that Fisher Paykel was offering a $600 rebate, for buying two appliances. A wall oven, Plus a cook top, or washer, etc. So I bit that carrot, and paid more for the Fisher Paykel, than I would have for the Kitchen Aid or the Wolf cooktop.I have had to spend so much time to try to receive this rebate. Probably 20 emails, several phone calls, numerous submissions of the claim form. There was some problem with it, every time. In the end, they said, I didnt qualify: because this is for a Wall oven, and cooktop. You purchased a Range Cooktop. Its still the same, it has 6 burners, and the range top style is actually more expensive than the basic cooktop. Its just rubbish, that they dont honor these rebates. I have tried to submit over and over, and it has been so frustrating. I have no idea if the appliances work well or not. But the rebate process does not. Dont fall for that.

We purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, which was far more expensive than any other fridge that we considered. After delivery, we called to say that it was not cooling. The technician came once and added gas. After a day, it again stopped cooling. The technician came again, realized that there was a leak, and soldered some wires. When it started working, it was noisy. We called again, and they said they would replace the fridge the following week. They sent a truck to pick up the faulty one, and when we called the store to ask when the new one would be delivered, we learned that FP had changed their mind and did not want us as customers. We were left with rotting food and no fridge.

About the washer, dryer, and dishwasher. The washer has done great. The dryer is constantly broken. The dishwasher simply does not clean dishes well at all. Ive had Kenmore and Maytag and would recommend either over these worthless, expensive pieces of junk. The dryer heating element has burned out six times or more. Clearly, there is some defect that should warrant a recall. Dishes have to be pretty much washed by hand before putting them in the dishwasher. It is worthless.

Have had our Fisher Paykel top load dryer for approximately 1-1/2 years. Started making a very loud noise which turned out to be the lint filter breaking away so lint could not escape. Paid the service repair $340.00 to fix it. He had just left when a new grinding sound started. He has been back four times and still cannot fix the problem. Now I am told we will probably have to replace the drum and bearings. I could have bought a brand new dryer (that would work for years! ) for what I have paid to repair this one.

Fisher Paykel is the only dishwasher that provides a double draw and this is the only reason it’s still on the market. You will be changing a motor/rotor every 18 months. The cost of the motor is 100.00 dollars and installation is 290.00. Fisher Paykel will recommend Dial An Appliance if you live in Brooklyn or Queens. They take 250.00 to put the motor in and it’s a 10 min job, but you’ll have no choice. I loved the double draw so within a 10 year period I had to buy and fix 3 dishwashers. Finally said, No more.. I just purchased a KitchenAid and hope to have it longer. If you purchase this dishwasher your first repair will be within the first year. Guaranteed!

We purchased a top load washer/dryer set in July 2009. By November 2010, the heating element in the dryer broker and the lint trap was clogged, meaning the dryer was not producing any heat to dry clothes. We had it serviced at that time, replacing the heating element and removing the lint trap to clean it, and now in January 2012, the link trap is clogged again. Also, almost immediately after purchase, the washing machine started leaking whenever a load was more than half full. Additionally, the washer began to (and still) stop wash cycles regularly because the load is not balanced. Sometimes, a wash cycle will stop up to 10 times before it finally runs through, taking almost a full day to wash one load of sheets/blankets. Also, in January 2012, we noticed that the top part of the plastic basket in the washer has begun to shred and tear. We are now weighing the choice of having a repair man out to fix it or not sink any more money into a machine were so unhappy with.We have been extremely disappointed with this set. We purchased this make and model when we built our new home because we wanted a modern, efficient washer/dryer. What we got was almost three years of headaches, service calls, and wasted water and electric.

We would like to relay our experience with an FP oven which we have documented with copious notes and repair receipts. Our FP oven OS302SS was put in service in early 2008 and acted erratically from the get-go. We finally contacted customer service in August 2010 when the issues became worse. The same month, repeated repair efforts began, which ultimately resulted in ALL boards being exchanged because of power supply issues. Along the way, it became apparent that the repair companies were at best sub-par, even though during our numerous calls to FP we had been promised white glove service. Some of the repairmen had never seen an FP oven in their life and were consequently in the dark about how to approach this issue. It did not help that some essential parts of the oven were dropped on the floor by a repairman resulting in further repairs (to oven and floor). In late 2010, repair activity seized temporarily since the oven appeared to be working. In February of 2011, another bout of repairs started because the fan and oven light were only operating intermittently. In the course of multiple repair visits and repair efforts, the oven stopped working altogether for periods of time. After numerous phone calls to the FP tech line, the repair company was no longer confident that this oven could be repaired and concluded that it should be exchanged as a lemon. Unfortunately, one of the repairman also got into an argument with the FP tech line (in our presence) resulting in a less than favorable impression of the situation by FP. FP refused at this point to swap the oven unless another repair company would assess the situation again. FP also suggested the local supervisor would get in touch and review the situation.Reluctantly, we made an appointment with another repair company in a neighboring city (since we had been through with all the local ones) that had been suggested to us by FP, but the repairman never showed up. We were never contacted by the supervisor of FP and hence, we’re unable to present our case to him. Based on previous experience with repairs, my wife refused to contact yet another repair company. At this point, the oven still experienced power problems intermittently and also did not hold the correct temperature. We had, by then, purchased a portable countertop oven and we’re able to use it when the FP oven was in-operational. We also learned to adjust the temperature of the oven manually with the help of a digital thermometer disregarding the displayed temperature. In January 2013, less than two years from previous repairs and hence, technically, within the warranty period of these repairs, the oven seized to operate completely. We have since been without the wall oven. To call the experience with this oven a nightmare would be polite. Despite being used sparingly in a two-person household and not once having being used in the self-cleaning mode, the oven has NEVER worked reliably for any length of time. We have been without an oven more often than not and are now faced with purchasing a new oven. The primary problem appears to be that the service companies FP contracts for warranty repairs are utterly incompetent and have, in our opinion, contributed to the failure of the appliance. At some point, we, the customers, were therefore sufficiently worn out from the repair attempts that we essentially gave up and lived without the oven. We deeply regret having purchased a number of FP appliances over the years.

I have had my Fisher Paykel Dishwasher for about 10 years. I absolutely love the concept of two drawers for washing dishes since I always have an empty washer that I can load. But I have to admit I have not been 100% satisfied with the unit. The top washer has always had issues and I have had it serviced almost every year for the last 10 years. Most of the time it will beep and stop running through the cycle for no reason. And even when it does run through the cycle, some of the dishes will need to be run again. It is not always super clean as I would expect from a good dishwasher. I am told that the newer models do not have the computer at the bottom of both drawers, which causes it to short circuit a lot. I hope the newer models are better at cleaning the dishes than mine is.

Fisher & Paykel is very good to work with. Their customer service is excellent. When my first FP dishwasher almost caught on fire, they went ahead and warrantied it and gave me a new one. I was gone for 3 days and came home and my whole house was smoky and my dishwasher had been left on. It came on by itself. I had the water turned off because we were up north at our cottage, and I came home and it was grinding. You could hear it outside in our garage. I read up on it on Google, and sure enough, some of them, they said they’d just come on by themselves because there’s a computer chip or something inside them. But other than that, this one’s working great. I like it. I have to say though, it doesn’t clean as well as my old Maytag. I love the double door concept. But this one here, I sometimes have to pull things off dishes after I rinse them, and I rinse everything before I put it in. A lot of my family members have a Fisher &Paykel dishwasher - my parents, my aunt, my mom - so I bought one for myself. So far, I don’t have any issues with it.

I bought a Fisher Paykel washer and dryer based on the sales pitch that loads very seldom get off balance and that clothes spin almost dry. From the start at least one out of every 4 loads would get off balance. I had a repair man service my washer numerous times while it was under warranty. At one point the rocker arms were broke and had to be replaced and caused from the loads getting off balance. The last repair visit the service man said he would have to order parts and would be back to install them. He hasn’t been back and that was months ago. My washer still gets loads off balance and now it won’t complete the rinse cycle. But now my warranty has expired so I’m stuck with an expensive washing machine that doesn’t work. I will never buy another Fisher Paykel product nor will I ever buy anything from the store where I purchased them. I’m stuck with an appliance that doesn’t work and the warranty is now expired.

I bought a FP two-drawer dishwasher about 5 years ago. It cost me a small fortune! We had our cabinets custom made to fit the FP dishwasher. It has been nothing but problems since the moment we got it. Now, it is on its last legs. It constantly fills up with water and my husband has to take the drawers out and wet-vac it, then put a de-humidifier in front of it for at least 24hrs. Once it is finally dry, he has to go into the basement and turn the electricity back on (which he shuts off to do this whole drying process). Inevitably, after one or two cycles it fills with water again and starts beeping. The beeping does not stop until we shut the power off again in the basement. The process repeats endlessly. We have had repairmen look at it and they say they see it all the time and there is nothing they can do with FP products, they are just not made well. My mother has had the same cheap Sears dishwasher for almost 30 years! I would love to replace it but I resent the fact that I paid so much for it and it is junk. Plus, Im afraid I will have to buy the same one again since my cabinets were specially designed to fit that model and I am afraid I will have the same problems with a new one.

I have been meaning to write this review to ward people away from Fisher & Paykel ovens (we have a range with an oven underneath, gas). First, they are dangerous. If not blowing up your home is important to you, purchase any other oven. One built by your child may be safer. We had their own representatives into our house over 5 times during the first year of purchase. On one occasion they left a gas leak and then had to rush back to repair it. They would not purchase it back but worse, they wouldnt give us a new oven. The flame routinely goes out in the oven, so something will be baking and all of a sudden, it is not. This creates a new type of cooking anxiety I never imagined. Cant thank you enough F&P!I finally took the time to write this today as I turned off a burner on the range and though the knob was often, the flame continued. The fire was on for 20 minutes before my wife smelled the smoke coming from the pan. My name is Alan **, I am a real person, and happily alive, regardless of what F&P does, I live in New York City, you can easily find me online (they dont let you put your email address in). If I havent convinced you not to purchase this range, please find me and give me another opportunity (unless our oven has killed us). And yes, we are buying a new oven.

We bought a BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE and on the 8th day, which is only the 3rd time we have used it, when it spin, the whole machine was shaking badly. So we called Fisher Paykel Customer Service and advised what happened. We took a video of the machine shaking. They scheduled us for a day for the repairman to check so my husband went off for work just to able to attend to the repairman. And then, he said, it defective and he requested with their Customer Service for it to be replaced...The second BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE arrives but when we tried it, it also shakes but not as bad as the first unit. My husband wanted to call Customer Service again. I told him, its not bad as the first unit so maybe its just normal, but the next time we used it, shaking was not good, so we took a video of it again just to show how the machine is again shaking. And not just that, we had these boxes of my boots at the side of the washing machine and its all wet and it just came to our knowledge that the BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE has a leak as well... What a quality. ;( So we called Customer Service and requested for another day to have a check on it, that was weekend. We requested if they can schedule us on the coming Monday for I am on leave from work but they said its all fully booked. They scheduled us on Wednesday same week 12-5pm.However, this is the 2nd time of this issue with this BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE and its not that easy to ask from work for another half day or leave. So my husband clearly advised with the Customer Service that he will be available by 5pm and they said back theyll see. So on Wednesday, I called Customer Service to confirm that technician will come on 5pm that day. The person I spoke to tells me that the technician will be finished working by 4:30pm in our area so 5pm is not possible. So I told her, is there any other option for we need someone to check the machine for it is not fair that we are paying a lot of money on this defective BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE.She throw the question back to me asking me what are other options I can think of. She told me shell ask the technician to call me 1hr before hell come. Just to put in perspective, she is quite nice lady, though. So I told her, I can use my lunch time to drive home just for this to be checked for I cant have another leave for I just had one. So she checked the technician schedule and said that we are scheduled for 12-1pm so it is fine that I can drive back home at lunch time so the technician can come at the scheduled time as what their system is saying. So I was thinking when she says that we are scheduled on 12-1pm, I just need to just go home and wait for the technician on the scheduled time.So I approached my Manager and advised that Ill be leaving but be back by 1sh. So when I arrived home around 12:10pm, I called Customer Service to confirm that technician will be coming as what was scheduled, as what their system is showing. But the lady on the other line says a straight NO, YOU ARE 12-5PM, NOT 12-1PM. Which makes my blood went up to my head. I drive 35-45 minutes to come home and then you will tell me that technician will not see me as what Ive been advised on phone earlier? I was pretty mad, disappointed whatever you call it, that we bought this FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE. The reason we bought a brand new is not to have a lot of drama, but we had more that we expected... Not really happy with the unit and with the Customer Service. I better refund the money for this unit and buy another Brand. THUMBS DOWN...

The Fisher Paykel refrigerator model E522B is made with junk plastic parts
The Fisher Paykel refrigerator model E522B is made with junk plastic parts that continue to break, and we are not rough on our appliances, as we are senior citizens, and previously owned a Frigidaire refrigerator, that lasted us over 25 years without one repair. However, in one year this Fisher Paykel refrigerator has had the following parts replaced: the rear caster wheels (broken on delivery), the plastic cover on the freezer door (broken when replacing the stripped freezer door handle), the plastic door closer under the door hinge has broken twice now, and a foam insulation kit was installed to help reduce the popping noises from the compressor. F&P customer service takes its good old time in responding to online inquiries about their products, and makes you jump through hoops, before they respond. They dont believe you, even after you register the product online with them, and inform them of how many times the unit was serviced as they still ask for proof (now want photos and receipts), when something breaks. Dont they have a computer system that logs the reimbursements they have made to service repair companies on their products? This will be our last purchase of New Zealand made junk as they seem to have no pride with craftsmanship!

We purchased the Fisher and Paykel EcoSmart Washer and Dryer set from Lowe’s in November of 2008. Last year, I had a problem with the dryer drying the clothes. After two weeks, the repairman finally arrived and fixed the problem within 10 minutes by flipping the safety switch. I wish someone would’ve just told me what to do to fix the problem. Now, I have had no problems with either since then and I love my washer and dryer. Tonight, I went to take the clothes out of the dryer and notice water on the top rim and dripping down the front of the outside drum. I’m wondering if this is a problem thats an easy fix, like my dryer was, or will it be necessary for me to wait possibly two weeks for a repairman to come see about it. My husband is in Afghanistan working and I have three kids, if that lets you know how bad I need my washer. Thank you and I look forward to your response.

This is a follow-up to the review I wrote on 6-15-13. I sent F&P (Lisette **) an email early, early Saturday morning, like 4:00 a.m. her time. I received an out-of-office reply that she would be out of the office for a couple of more days, so I wasnt hopeful that I would hear back soon. BUT GUESS WHAT? She emailed me back at 5:30 a.m. her time - just 90 minutes later - letting me know that she has asked someone to call me and get things going, and that it would be covered under warranty. One hour later someone from F&Ps NEW ZEALAND office called and got things set up for us! And it is now Monday morning and the service guy is here fixing the washer. So that is indeed terrific service again from F&P that we have received on a machine that has had several service calls. It is outside of the warranty period, but I am glad that they are standing by their product since there were obviously some design problems with the F&P washers that Lowes pushed in 2008 and 2009. We purchased Fisher and Paykel appliances when we built our home in 2006. The WOS-130 wall oven never heated correctly, could not be repaired, so it was replaced by FP. In 2010, I cleaned the oven, and the oven door would not open and the control panel ceased to operate. We contacted FP. A service rep ordered the new part, and we were responsible for the repair. About 3 weeks ago, I cleaned the oven, and the same thing happened. The first time the repair person came out in 2010, he showed my husband how to unlock the oven. We now have a dilemma because there is no longer a repair company in our area that will come out to repair the unit. I contacted the sales rep from FP by phone and email, and he has failed to return my messages. His name is Jim **. I guess there is no sense in buying an FP self-cleaning oven if every time you need to clean the unit it ceases to operate. I am in quite a dilemma because I cannot get service to my home, and surely cannot afford a new wall oven. I would never buy a Fisher and Paykel appliance again if you cannot get a customer service rep. to respond or service in your area. I am very disappointed with this product.

I tried several times to reset it by unplugging it like the owners manual instructed, only to have NO results again. I had to take the clothes out and wring them out by hand. We decided to get a new unit of Fisher & Paykel because we’re getting older and have to bend down all the way in to get in the old washer. And it wasnt broke but we went up to Millmans who is the independent distributor. They had one there but they also introduced us to split door and they are the only ones that have a fast wash, its 38 minutes. So we got it and they put it in, 90% of all these... its a very good machine and the people that put them in and represent the product, they knew what they were talking about. I didnt know Fisher & Paykels name simply because theyre a better, higher end and you dont find them in Lowes and other stores. A lot of people just dont know about them but its an excellent product. It does what its supposed to do and does it quietly. Ive had the washer for 2 or 3 years and I use the top drawer 90% of the time. We use the bottom drawer every now and then to make sure it doesnt get clogged up or gets lonesome. And every now and then if you noticed something, you just put it on the normal cycle which is 56 minutes and everything comes out fine. I dont know how you could improve it other than put the dishes away for me once its done. Is there anybody there who can do that for me? For older people and people that just dont wanna mess with stuff, the product is very very good. You hit a home run. I would recommend it to anybody that has electricity in their house because its just good a product. I enjoy Fisher & Paykel products.

I bought a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher and refrigerator quite some time ago. After 3 or 4 years, the dishwasher was deemed beyond repair so we had to buy a new one. The loading on the new dishwasher is worse than the previous one and neither one of them were very good. We have a very narrow kitchen and the fact that these are drawers rather than the drop down door is very helpful and thats why we tolerate the other shortcomings or things that have changed. The machine is so complicated that it doesnt run well and it cant be fixed when it breaks.

I emailed them back to let them know and they never responded to my email, and I even sent pictures of what mine looks like, so I called again and I was told that I would have to have a service rep come out to remove the bins and if he found there was no manufacturer defect they would charge me $95!!Yet they are not able to provide me with any instructions on how to do it myself!!! This refrigerator cost way too much have people answering the phone that cant help with something that should be a simple process... And maybe the bins dont come out at all but if they dont they should be able to at least tell me that instead of telling me they have to send out a service rep.

On 10/4/12, I posted a complaint regarding my F&P refrigerator. My refrigerator was 4 y/o and the display panel & water dispenser broke. Three days later, I received a call from Lisette, Customer Service Manager for Fisher & Paykel. She understood my frustration and assured me she would contact a local repair business. The repair service did not work out well, so I called again and Lisette assured me she would take care of everything to my satisfaction. She contacted a different repair service that did a fantastic job and F&P paid for all of the parts. I cannot say enough about F&P Customer Service and especially Lisette. She was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this company and appliance. I have purchased many brands of appliances throughout my lifetime and I have never had such a positive experience as I did with this company. This has restored my faith with the customer service of large companies, thanks to Fisher & Paykel. If they can deliver such incredible service, why cant other big name companies? Thank you, Lisette, for all of your assistance!

Contacted the Fisher and Paykel Customer Care to repair a 2 year old fridge
Contacted the Fisher and Paykel Customer Care to repair a 2 year old fridge - no longer working (under warranty). The fridge was removed and taken in for service and a replacement fridge was provided. Our fridge was returned 1.5 weeks later, and we were told it was working. Its not. Contacted the service dept, given the run-around, told it is probably a small repair required and the technician will attend on site - but not for 4 days. Thanks guys. Its 30 degrees out. Love having to deal with a fridge/freezer and 100s of $$ of rotting food.Would have been helpful to at least speak with a manager, or be reassured that given it was their error, or case would be prioritized. Debbie at customer service said nothing can or will be done, was unable to reach a manager, said Josh (the technical supervisor for our area) should get back to us within a day or so. Very reassuring (thats sarcasm). I find it very strange. Dealing with a mistake can be so easy with an apology, acknowledgement, and reassurance. None of which were provided.

Warning! We purchased this Fisher and Paykel top loading dryer in 2007. It has worked okay until now. I have not used the dryer in 4 days. Today, I found the dryer hot - very very hot. All the indicator lights were off. The outside of the heating element inside the drum was so hot to the touch it almost burned me. The exterior of the dryer was very very very hot particularly on the backside of the heating element. Fisher and Paykel offered to send a technician at my expense. I wont pay for their safety problem. Junk. Unsafe junk.

We purchased F&P fridge and stove in November 2009 and have been having issues with both since the very beginning (which is not surprising, judging from this site). The purpose of this review is to give our feedback regarding the service weve been getting from local authorized dealers and support they get from the company. No matter what, do not buy any products from Fisher & Paykel! Trying to get their appliances fixed is even more frustrating than finding out that your appliance broke down after only a few months of service. Prepare to wait for weeks and dont be surprised if the problem reoccurs within days or hours of the fix. Then, wait a few more weeks. There is no urgency, no ownership, no pride. I dont believe the company cares. Did you read their responses to customer complaints? They sound like a broken record. At this point, we are seriously considering throwing both fridge and stove out and buy something else. It cant be worse, can it? What a waste of money.

DD60DCX7 Dishwasher - Purchased in Jan 2015. Feb, motor fault out for 1 week, waiting for it to be repaired. March, could not select cycle, jammed again, out for 1 week for it to be repaired. March, same problem as last one, cycle jammed again, out for 1 week for it to be repaired by cutting away moulding??? April, same problem, insisted the dishwasher be replaced. New dishwasher in 5-5-2015. June, guess what E9-04 fault, dishwasher out again. This unit has been out of order longer than it has been OK. I need this issue resolved as a $1400 investment in a dishwasher with nothing but faults.

I went to the appliance store called Melzen’s Appliance at Glastonbury and they informed me about Fisher & Paykel. Never heard of it before. It was one of the most expensive refrigerators I’ve ever bought in my life - it was $1600. I’m married for 35 years and I’ve had refrigerators before this. I was shocked at the price but had to buy it because of the size (it had to fit into a specific area). I also wanted a stainless and a refrigerator on top. It had so many of the things I wanted. It was delivered November of 2012.I love the F&P refrigerator except I do have an issue with it that I did go back to the appliance store to tell them that when I opened up the door, something came flying out of the refrigerator. I told them, “Look at this piece, what do I do.” The guy looked at it and said, “Oh that just goes underneath the door of the refrigerator, just glue it.” I said, “Glue it? You know this refrigerator is only 6 months old - really?” He goes, “Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with your refrigerator right?” I said, “Correct” “So well, just glue it. It’s fine. Because if I send out a repair man, that’s what they’re going to do and they’re gonna charge you.” So I still have the piece here and it doesn’t impede or impact what’s going on with the refrigerator. I haven’t glued it yet because I’m having a hard time thinking that I have to glue this on my new refrigerator.I like the performance. I’m satisfied, though I’m not happy that a piece flew out on me.

2 yr old Fisher Paykel Dryer - We purchased a Fisher Paykel Washer many years ago that worked great and never needed repair. When we downsized we sold it with our home. We purchased a new FP washer and dryer when we moved to our Condo. Our new dryer stopped working on December 28, 2017. Electronic Motherboard burned out. Was only several months out of warranty. I was told when I called FP Customer Care that because it was only a few months out of Warranty they might refund the service charge (I think this kind of thing must happen often and they want to keep their customers happy). I went to FP Website which works well to locate qualified local service companies. They scheduled me within a week. Aside from being annoyed at the inconvenience of not having the use of my dryer over holidays, things went well in the beginning.Local Service Tech came out on January 2, 2018 with the correct part and repaired quickly. Because it was no longer under warranty I paid $258 for the part and service. I contacted the US Customer Service number that is in New Zealand, not in the US. I emailed them the Original Purchase and Repair receipts. I was finally sent an email with a CASE AUTHORITY NO. ** on January 26. I was told that the service company would refund my money. Turns out that was incorrect information. After another 12 phone calls (it turn out some were made to me from Customer Support using a local New Zealand phone number and, because I redialed in error, I now owe $84 to AT&T for 20 minutes in International charges) I was assured more than once since receiving the CASE AUTHORITY NO. ** on January 26 that a check would be sent within 7-10 business days. No one in Customer Support seems to know how this check will be issued or how it will be sent. Several times one of those I talked to put me on hold to consult with a supervisor. There were many excuses. I was told that the check couldnt be issued through their new system or it was being updated or the order for refund had been sent to the wrong department. It is now March 14, 2018. I will be calling again today. I should be billing them for MY time spent and the International phone calls made in error. (In all my years as a homeowner or in business I have never made International phone calls when calling Customer Service. Sometimes to India or Philippines etc. Who would have thought Customer Service would use a local phone number.) I have reached the end of my patience here. To be continued.

We bought our fridge, brand new in Sep 2011. After 3 years of use, our Fisher & Paykel E240BR fridge has broken down, 3 times in the last 3 months. July 2014 - Fridge was freezing everything, but the freezer was working fine. Called the F&P repair service and they couldnt come for 8 days. When they eventually came, the repairman fixed the thermostat and said it should be good. 30 August 2014 - Fridge & freezer stopped cooling, although motor was running. Everything in the fridge was warm and spoiled. Again F&P repair service couldnt come for a week. In the meantime we had no fridge and had to throw out over $200 worth of food from fridge and freezer.By the time the repairman came, fridge had started working again. He said there was nothing he could do until it broke down. 28 September 2014 (TODAY) - Again fridge and freezer have stopped working. Did not notice until tonight and again everything in the fridge is warm. When we rang the F&P call centre, they cannot come until Tuesday. Ridiculous. Call centre person was extremely rude and tried to say they had fixed it. Um if you had fixed it then why is it warm and stopped working again. Needless to say I am going to buy a new fridge tomorrow. Broken down 3 times in the last 3 months and its only 3 years old. Very unreliable, poorly made product. Will not be buying another F&P in the future.

I purchased a washer and dryer from Lowes. Within a year both needed service, under warranty. The following year both again needed service, the motor in the washer and the board on the dryer. $600 in repairs. Neither under warranty. I spoke with F&P and they wouldnt assist on the repair. On year three, the dryer went out again. I spoke to F&P and they told me to get a repair estimate and they would aid in the repair. The repairman, the only F&P rep in town, told me the units were junk even though they were on their high end. I called back to F&P with the estimate, $250 + $80 diagnostics, and was told, you have lemons. That is the nature of the world we live in. Too bad. I trashed the 3 year old units and replaced with something else. Avoid this company. The units are flimsy to say the least.

I, too, was coerced by a salesperson at Lowe’s to pay a huge sum for a washer/dryer set. When delivered the dryer did not work after 3 days. I only agreed to them bringing a new dryer. The dryer does not dry well and always taking twice as long as the washer, even though I am vigilant about keeping lint traps and piping clean. Now it is making a high pitched whining sound--bearings? The washer is constantly out of balance even though it is level and on a concrete floor. It spun clothes nearly dry when new, but now I sometimes run the spin cycle a second time to remove more moisture. Thought I would read reviews before calling the repairman. I now think I might go shopping instead of throwing more money at a hopeless situation. I will never buy this brand again and long for my old Maytag set.
