Goodman Appliance Repair

Goodman Manufacturing offers a range of affordable air conditioning, packaged units, heat pumps and gas furnaces for residential heating and cooling needs.

Air Conditioner Repair

Goodman manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Goodman appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Goodman Central air conditioner not cooling
The furnace control board sends a low voltage signal to the contactor. When the contactor receives the signal from the control board, it closes the circuit, sending voltage to the condensing unit components. If the contactor is defective, it will not provide voltage to the condensing unit. To determine if the contactor is at fault, use a multimeter to test the contactor for continuity. If the contactor does not have continuity, replace it.

Goodman Central air conditioner is noisy or loud
The condenser fan motor has bearings that can wear out over time. When the bearings are worn out, they make loud noise. To check the bearings, try rotating the condenser fan motor by hand. If the motor does not turn smoothly, replace it.

Goodman Condenser fan motor does not run
If the capacitor is defective, the fan motor might be noisy, overheat, or not run at all. To determine if the capacitor has failed, inspect the capacitor. If the capacitor is bulging or leaking, replace it.

Goodman Condensing unit does not run
The wall thermostat has contacts in it that control the furnace. If the contact fails it can result in the furnace & condenser unit to not run at all.

Furnace Repair

Goodman manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Goodman appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Goodman Furnace not heating
The igniter gets very hot and glows bright orange to light the gas burner. If the igniter fails or cracks, the furnace won’t heat. To determine if the igniter is faulty, remove the igniter and inspect it for cracks. If the igniter is cracked, replace it. If the igniter is not cracked, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.

Goodman Furnace is noisy or loud
The blower wheel blows air out of the furnace and through the house. The blower wheel is attached to the blower motor shaft with a set screw. If the set screw is loose, the blower wheel will wobble on the motor shaft, and the wheel will be noisy as it turns. Check the set screw to ensure that it is properly tightened. Next, inspect the wheel for damage. If the blower wheel is damaged, replace it.

Goodman Furnace starts then stops
The flame sensor monitors the burner to detect whether or not a flame is present. If the flame sensor is defective, it might fail to detect a flame. If the flame sensor does not detect a flame, the control board will shut off voltage to the gas valve to prevent the furnace from heating. Sometimes, if the flame sensor is dirty, it will fail to detect a flame. Try cleaning the flame sensor with a fine abrasive pad. If the furnace still doesn’t heat, replace the flame sensor.

Goodman Furnace blower not running
The blower motor blows air through the return vent, past the heat exchanger, and into the home’s venting. First, make sure that power is getting to the motor. If power is getting to the blower motor, but the motor does not run, the motor may be burned out. If the blower motor is burned out, replace it. If the blower motor hums, check the blower fan to ensure that it spins freely. If the blower fan is unobstructed but does not spin freely, replace the blower motor.

Goodman Furnace blower runs all the time
The control board has relays that regulate the voltage to each component in the furnace. If the relay that controls the blower motor fails while it is closed, it will send continuous voltage to the blower motor, causing the motor to run continuously. If the control board is at fault, replace it.

Heat Pump Repair

While it's generally recommended to consult a professional HVAC technician for heat pump repairs, there are a few troubleshooting tips you can try before calling for service. Keep in mind that working with electrical components and refrigerants can be dangerous, so exercise caution and prioritize your safety. Here are some heat pump repair tips:

Check Power Supply: Ensure that the heat pump is receiving power. Check the circuit breaker or fuse box to see if a breaker has tripped or a fuse has blown. Reset the breaker or replace the fuse if necessary. Also, check that the heat pump's disconnect switch is in the "ON" position.

Inspect and Clean Air Filters: Dirty air filters can restrict airflow and cause efficiency issues. Check and clean or replace the air filters if they are dirty or clogged.

Clear Debris from Outdoor Unit: Inspect the outdoor unit and remove any debris, such as leaves, dirt, or grass, that may be obstructing the airflow. Ensure that the unit is not covered or blocked.

Check Thermostat Settings: Make sure the thermostat is set to the appropriate temperature and mode (heating or cooling). Verify that the fan is set to "Auto" or "On" depending on your preference.

Check and Clean Condenser Coils: Over time, the condenser coils on the outdoor unit can accumulate dirt and debris, reducing efficiency. Carefully clean the coils using a soft brush or hose, being cautious not to damage the fins.

Verify Outdoor Fan Operation: Ensure that the outdoor fan is spinning freely and not obstructed. If the fan is not running or making unusual noises, it may require professional attention.

Check Refrigerant Levels: Low refrigerant levels can affect the heat pump's performance. However, refrigerant handling requires specialized equipment and knowledge, so it's best to leave this task to a qualified technician.

Monitor for Unusual Noises or Smells: Pay attention to any unusual noises or smells coming from the heat pump. Grinding, squealing, or buzzing noises, as well as burning odors, could indicate mechanical or electrical issues that require professional attention.

Remember, these tips are general in nature, and the specific repairs needed for your heat pump may require professional expertise. If you're unsure or uncomfortable performing any repairs, it's always best to contact a qualified HVAC technician for assistance.

All I can say is, I had a York system that was 20+ yrs. old, and the original condenser fan. And my new Goodman unit has a condenser fan that is louder than my old unit. Maybe Goodman needs to put more $ and effort into research and development. If I had known, would never have bought a Goodman.

We had just put in a brand new Goodman gas pack in 2018. The heating system does not heat as sufficient as the AC blower does. We have to put in a space heater to keep it warm during the winter but it cools just fine during the summer. I called and asked the question what would cause this. They told me that they are not trained for this type of stuff?! They told me I have to hire somebody to come out and look. The company we have put it in in Zebulon North Carolina was not trusted anymore and we had got rid of them ever since. Company name Company name Air Serv. Very poor customer service.

Our original heat pump stopped working after 20 years so we decided to go with this brand. Huge mistake. The motor has gone out twice including last night at midnight. The therm has gone out 3 times. In 5 years this piece of junk has been repaired and or serviced 7 times. We will never buy this brand again. We are in the south in July. IT IS HOT.

In 2009, I built a new house and it was finished about August of 2010. I bought a Goodman whole home system, which had an air conditioning unit, a furnace, and the inside air conditioning unit in February of 2010. Since I have had it installed by professionals, I have had nothing but trouble. The outside air conditioning unit turns on very loud and when it gets to normal speed, the fan will jolt really hard and you will hear a really loud grinding noise. This has happened since about September of 2010. We have had 3 service calls out to our house and all of them said that it needed freon or there was a fan issue. We didnt have the money for them to take it apart and find something wrong to cost even more money, so we left it alone. It still does that grinding every time it runs. Then, yesterday (9/5/2015) the outside unit was making a weird noise and the inside unit was not blowing any air into the vents of the house. The inside unit was also make a whining sound, so I shut the whole system off and went back to check it out. The pipe that goes from the outside unit to the inside unit had ice build-up all over it. I let it thaw for an hour and turned it on again to see what it would do. The outside unit will turn on fine, (still makes that grinding noise) but the inside unit will not turn on at all, so it will not blow any air to the vents. I tripped the breakers to the system to see if it would reset, and now the outside unit will not turn on at all!We called our local place to have them look at it this morning (9/6/2015). They got the outside unit working but found out that the fan for the inside unit is burned up and they dont have it in stock. If they cant fix this, I am just going to rip the whole system out and put in a Carrier or a Trane system. I cant believe a company would do this to people. Take their money and then right after the warranty expires, the whole system goes down. UNBELIEVABLE!!

I bought a Goodman heat pump model GsZ160361bd, serial no 1903096018 brand new and had it installed by a “license technician“. The unit broke in less than 18 months and required repairs that cost me approximately $1600 in labor. The part were covered by the manufacturer. But no customer should have to spend that much money on a heat pump that was purchased new. I believe Goodman Manufacturing has junk heat pumps and I recommend anyone looking to buy a new unit to look at the other manufacturer. Also make sure it is a sister brand name to Goodman. The customer support is of no use to the customer who purchased their product. All you get is scripted reply to call a license contract to fix their junk product! At your own cost! This is a real experience. Do not buy!

On 9/16/11 I bought a goodman heat pump serial #**. My installer installed. After installing he got on my computer and registered for the warranty. I watched him do this. Funny that less than four years later I needed warranty work and your site says it wasnt registered. That is incorrect. I have bought 5 goodman units in the last 8 or 9 years as I flip houses. This is one I put on my personal house and youre denying my warranty. Please contact me on this matter **. I will be buying more units in the future and would like to continue using goodman if and when this matter is corrected. Thank you.

I am a new homeowner who had a nice HVAC guy install a brand-new Goodman system in my home (I chose Goodman). The red plastic logo on the outside unit broke off within two months so I simply contacted Goodman to ask for a replacement (it serves their needs well to have free advertising like that) and they flat-out refused after initially telling me it was being sent. What a horrible company. I shudder to think what will happen if/when the unit itself goes out. Already regretting this purchase. Should have gone with another more reputable manufacturer. BTW, this sign is being removed entirely. Nobody needs to know I have a Goodman which is a piece of garbage based on how their corporate headquarters treated me for simply asking for a replacement logo/sign.

In 2007 we had a new Goodman 4 ton 15 SEER heat pump installed in our home. Nothing but problems since. Much review was done before purchase to make sure size was appropriate for home, etc. Never really feels like its heating or cooling properly. Numerous times per year it has required repair, run capacitor, defrost control board, blower motor, bad txv (whatever that is), bad reversing valve. Last week started making awful noise while running. Repairman said it needs new fan. And last night it started throwing the breaker at the heat pump. So tired of this piece of crap, would not recommend.

With proper maintenance, a furnace should last two years or more but Goodman doesnt even have a half life. I put in the first Goodman 10 years ago. The heat exchanger failed in less than two years and the entire furnace was replaced under warranty in March 2007. I had to pay for labor. The heat exchanger has now failed again at the end of winter, rendering the furnace dangerous and unusable. Nobody local has a heat exchanger so it must be shipped from Texas. Im told to pay for shipping and labor. Despite talking to Goodman on the phone, the company didnt tell me it would be backordered nor would it airship to me despite the weather. A consumer affairs supervisor never called me back. My family will be without heat in the Northeast for about three weeks because of Goodmans failure as a quality manufacturer and one whose customer service is disrespectful, unresponsive and extremely poor. Do not ever consider a Goodman and if your HVAC company or supplier recommends Goodman - find a different company because they reflect the companies they carry.

We switched to a Goodman furnace 8 years ago. The company we bought from were very friendly as was the installer, who did a great job. Never had any troubles at all, just changed air filters every 3-4 months. But this July 2016 the coil went bad. The coil warranty was for 5 years, so missed out. After reading these reviews I guess we were fortunate and cant complain. Still would recommend.

After only 2 years, the 3 ton a/c and heating unit needed service and Freon added. Now, after only 10 months, the unit once again is not cooling. The initial diagnosis was that it needed more freon, not it needs a new condenser. I will never, ever buy another Goodman and if you are smart, neither should you. A $4000 unit should at least give you carefree service for 5 years more. I am going to contact Goodman and see what they have to offer.

Three year old 14 SEER heat pump developed a condenser coil leak. They warranted the part but not labor to have it installed. I had the new coil installed on a Friday. By Monday the coil drip pan developed a crack and was leaking water. Goodman was called by the installing A/C company for a replacement part and asked them to cover the install due to their part being faulty. Goodman refused to help or cover the labor cost. DO NOT BUY A GOODMAN! I’m cutting my losses and getting a better system from a company that cares about their customers.

In 2020, I purchased a 16 SEER Air Conditioning unit and a cased evaporator
In 2020, I purchased a 16 SEER Air Conditioning unit and a cased evaporator coil after the coils on my old Carrier unit (which I loved) failed due to age. Since the new coil required an updated refrigerant, I decided to replace the AC unit as well. The installation went smoothly, and the unit (although failing to cool quite as well as its predecessor) has been functioning without issue. Fast forward to last weekend, when I received a letter from Goodman, stating that they were issuing a voluntary recall on their evaporator coil drain pans (“under abnormal conditions, the drain pans may overheat, deform and melt, posing a fire hazard”). Of course, whenever I see the words “fire hazard”, I sit up and take notice. I immediately contacted Goodman and found out that my unit was affected. Initially, I was impressed that they quickly sent out a replacement kit - which took only a couple of days to arrive at my home. But unfortunately, my experience has accelerated downhill from there. Goodman provides their own technicians to effect these types of repairs - apparently because these dealers are willing to complete the job at a rock bottom price. As a homeowner, I have specific vendors that I have trusted over the years who know me and my home, and I would prefer to have the repairs effected by the HVAC company that has performed my service for many years. Goodman does allow for these “third-party” repair preferences, and my HVAC company was able to price out the job. Unfortunately, when they filed their claim with Goodman, they determined that only a nominal amount would be disbursed, and that the balance (which was over $600) would have to be covered at my expense. Think: “You totaled your $40,000 vehicle, and the insurance company is only prepared to issue you a check for $20,000”. Since discovering that I am on the hook for $600+ in order for Goodman’s problematic part to be repaired correctly (and which I would think they would want to avoid fixing “on the cheap”, since they apparently didn’t get the original design correct in the first place), I have tried every avenue I could think of to avoid having to foot such a large bill myself: 1. I talked to my HVAC company to determine if there was any way they could affect the repair for less. Nope. Replacing the pan will require removing that coil, and that’s a two-man job. 2. I called Goodman’s recall department (which - although staffed by friendly people - is really just a call center). They said they couldn’t help and directed me to the main Goodman number. 3. I called the main Goodman number and was told that they have technicians that have agreed to the rock bottom “you get what you pay for” price, and that if I don’t want to use one of those, I’ll have to pay the difference myself. Gives new meaning to the term “paying customer”. 4. I asked what this rock bottom price was. After a brief hold, I was told that Goodman cannot release the actual amount of the rock bottom price. 5. I asked to speak to a supervisor. After some recalcitrance, I was finally connected with said supervisor, who rendered the same explanation. In essence: “You have to use one of our techs-who-you-have-knowledge-of-and-cannot-vouch-for-the-quality-of-their-work-and-oh-by-the-way-they’ve-agreed-to-do-the-repair-for-the-rock-bottom-price-that-we-won’t-tell-you-what-it-is or else you must pay the difference yourself”. 6. After thinking about things, I decided to try to vet their list of vendors to see if I could indeed go with one of them. I called Goodman back and was immediately told that Goodman doesn’t release the names of these vendors. “You can go to our website for a list of certified Goodman vendors, but there’s no guarantee that the one you call is the one that has agreed to do the repair. And oh, by the way, our process is not for you to call them. They will contact you when they are able to fit you in to the 500,000+ repairs that have to be made”. Needless to say, at this point, frustration levels were through the roof. Continuing... 7. I opened the Goodman website and found a list of certified vendors - scrolling through them and using the point-and-click method, coupled with “they have a nice sounding name” to pick one at random. I found a vendor after a few minutes, checked their reviews (they were good), and called. I was immediately connected to a receptionist who promptly dropped my call. I called back, got the same receptionist, and was able to talk for about 30 seconds before she dropped my call again. 8. I called a second vendor and was told that they weren’t sure whether or not they did Goodman recall repairs. They would get back with me once their service manager had an opportunity. No call came that day. 9. I called my home warranty company to see if they could help with my $600+ passed-along-to-customer cost. They were very nice, and nicely told me that my warranty does not cover manufacturer recalls. So, that pretty much brings the saga up-to-date. I absolutely loathe feeling so defeated, and have pretty much resigned myself to paying $600+ to correctly repair Goodman’s defective manufacturer part. This was my first Goodman unit, and - one thing I can absolutely promise - it will definitely be my last.

I bought this furnace about a year ago, and it has lowered the temperature swings and reduced my heating bills by almost half. This is all thanks to the double stage heating and a high energy efficiency of 95%.The installation was hard for me, and I was forced to hire a technician to do all the setup work and everything turned out well after that. I have not had any issues with my furnace, and I love how well it works.

We have 2 three-yr-old air conditioning systems. On 8/23, one unit stopped working. We called for service hoping to get the system up & running without paying a lot of money & since the unit is still fairly new, we prayed that parts would still be covered under the manufacture. No such luck. We were told that we had to replace an E-Z trap, $177.00, a Safety T, $199.00. We were charged for a tune up $155.00, a diagnostic fee $99.00, an Indoor Coil (still covered under warranty) but with labor & other charges, it cost $809.00, a Coolant R-410A $69.00. The other system made an extremely loud noise while running so we had them to check that system as well and were told it needed a condenser fan motor, $209.00. We moved into our new home on 4/15/10. I cant image why so many problems would be happening to these systems so soon. When I reached out to Goodman to make them aware of what was going on, of course I was asked if we had an extended warranty (wish we had been told about that early on). Their only suggestion was to have the company making repairs to contact distributor for Goodman so that a field tech specialist can come out with company making repairs and make an assessment to see whats going on with the system. I am very upset that we had to spend so much money on these systems so soon and I hope Goodman will stand behind their reputation.

Recently bought a home from a popular bullet in my city. Love everything about my new home BUT the furnace and air conditioner (both Goodman). Ill be honest the disappointment and disbelief that a new unit could have so much trouble in the first few years is just insane! Im on the board for my neighborhood H.O.A., and Im one of MANY that has had very very similar problems. Sure the builder cut cost by installing cheaper system in 89 homes in my area! The local heat and air company that installed it per builder has the greatest reviews all over the network and BBB! They have been very very helpful and cutting down repair cost because they feel sorry! So, in the last three years Ive had a leak on BOTH coils, then new coil came with filter dryer that also leaked in same year, and now I have a restriction in the piston that coils quite possibly be metal shaving from inner compressor! Also replaced circuit board on furnace and also in the first year the blower wheel came loose and tore up the blower motor! Goodman is a disgrace to HVAC industry! Ive seen it all over internet, fellow HVAC techs, and neighbors! Nobody but this equipment EVER. Year four this summer, I had some extra cash and changed out the full system! Bought new Trane furnace and heat pump combo!

In August of 2016 we had an A/C system failure, and decided to have a Goodman complete system with gas furnace installed. Not only was the overall cost much lower than some competitors, both A/C and heat have performed at a very high level from day one. We installed a 2008 model Goodman furnace in 2009. Last winter, we had a long, long cold streak and I had 6 different HVAC guys out to try to repair it. The last guy finally replaced the motherboard and it worked fine after that. Now, here we are in 2014 and the first cold spell of the winter and NO heat AGAIN!! Last year I had to spend $941. So far this year, $144. Plus last year we had to stay in a hotel for 4 nights because we couldnt get anyone to come and fix it due to the prolonged cold weather. Last year when we tried to file a warranty claim for the control board we were informed that because we didnt call them when the furnace was installed, our warranty ended after just 5 years! What a crock! NEVER, NEVER TAKE A CHANCE WITH THIS CRAPPY FURNACE!! Buyer beware!!!! SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!

Purchased a Goodman heat pump and air handler 09/09/08. I called Goodman and verbally gave them the serial numbers of both units and I also sent in the warranty card as well. 2013 unit started leaking freon so I had it topped off and the unit ran fine. 2015 leaks got worse so I called Goodman and they stated I sent in the warranty card 05/15/09? Data input error perhaps or did this happen when they cut over to a new system? Found out they did put in a new system but dont know when.Spoke to a male CSR rude and abrasive refused to let me talk to a supervisor but finally caved in. Spoke to Hema and she stated they had the serial # for the heat pump but no air handler so no warranty on the handler. Told her I called and mailed in the warranty card then was told they do the data input and then the cards are thrown away. My word against theirs? I thought the customers was always right? So much for that theory! I have called several times after that, no return calls. Theres a surprise! Although Hema was helpful but still no warranty.I like the unit and have very little problems with it until the leak, and now the warranty. What is the point of having a warranty and then not to honor it? So now they think I will get stuck with the bill... wrong! Got things to do and people to speak to about the warranty issue. This is just bad P/R on their behalf and I am sorry they are taking that stand. Will I buy another Goodman unit? Maybe not because of this warranty issue.

8 year unit, installed in a new house in 2013, Houston TX. 5 Ton. The coil was broken in 2017, had to replace it. This year 2021 the condenser had leaks EVERYWHERE! This was installed in a new built home. My husband passed away suddenly 2 days before the day of the closing back in 2013, and I had no time or clear head to learn about warranties. The crooked contractor never registered the unit under my name, and therefore when it broke this year I could not claim any warranty. Laws in Texas only benefit corporations but not the individuals. The manufacturers will give better price to contractors with licenses, and higher prices to home owners. If you own your house, make sure you register any device you buy under your name, specially if you are a lady, try to avoid service companies to buy devices. Most contractors (installers, distributors, repair companies) in Texas are vultures, awful rats, they will take your money and never disclose the real price they get from manufacturers. Goodman ethics sucks, same as the contractor JDS (David Sanabria) in Houston. For HVAC units save yourself aggravation and pain: Go with RHEEM, Bryant or Carrier.

A brand new Goodman/Amana A/C was installed in my home in 2011. The condenser coil leaked and had to be replaced in 2012. In 2014, coil leaked; it was patched and freon recharged. In 2015, freon leaked, was now attributed to the evaporator coil. In the four years since the new unit was installed, I have spent over $1000 for labor replacing BOTH coils and freon recharges. Basically, the product is a piece of junk and major parts need to be replaced - not anyone expects of a new equipment. Is there collusion between the manufacturer and the A/C service provider: one sells product that should be pulled from the market, the other recommend the product and makes money by labor charges?

As I write this our house is 90 degrees (typical August in NC) and weve been without AC since yesterday. The whole blower is gone now. Ive never heard anything good about these units and anybody who buys one will likely get ripped off. Our electric bill has nearly doubled in the winters since weve had this thing and increased in the summer months also. It runs constantly but can never seem to keep up even though its the same size as the one we replaced....... which by the way was a Rheem that lasted 17 years with maybe 2 service calls the whole time.

Despite being within the 10 year warranty it is not covered by their warranty because it didnt get registered. Guy was a real ** on the phone. Warning all potential customers - AVOID this company.

We had this furnace less than 6 years in our new home, this was installed by the builder, and gas valve failed to work within this short period. After contacting their customer service we were told we are out of warranty. This company has a trap set for registering the unit within 60 days of installation to get full 10 years warranty. We were not told by the builder of this trap as Goodman and the builders are all lobbying to sell cheap stuff and keeping the customer uninformed of this conditions in small writings. I am sure many new homeowners may not be aware of this condition which is deliberately set to trick the customer, so the Goodman can wash off their hands of any failed part.Their customer service is lousy and have no consideration whatsoever for exceptional cases. They say only original homeowner will get 10 years warranty, means if the ownership changes, the warranty is over. This is really a joke & trap. How in the world the functioning of Goodman furnace part impact the performance whether Mr. X owns the house or Mr.Y, as far as both does the same maintenance and care and keep record of it as well. I was pretty sure Goodman is a big name in the industry, but this company is worse in the customer service even with a corner grocery store, who still respect their client. Never buy again from Goodman who cannot stand behind their products.

When this unit Goodman heat pump model GPH144841AC was about one year old it developed a major leak causing all the refrigerant to escape. It cost $500 to have someone repair the faulty factory solder joint and recharge it. Since I installed the unit myself Goodman will not honor any warranty. It is a self contained unit that I did not even open up so there was no way I could have damaged the inside of the unit. About two years later the main power relay failed and I had to replace it. This past Spring, 2017, I found it low on refrigerant and I added about 3 pounds and it worked correctly up until a few days ago even cycling off during some 28 degree weather (so it had refrigerant then). Yesterday I noticed it was running on emergency heat and checked it this morning. Not a pound of pressure. Apparently the small leak became a big leak. Again since it is a self contained unit it must be a factory fault. Im hoping it is something that can be easily fixed, but Im going to start saving for a replacement and it sure will not be a Goodman unit. They are junk.

Do not buy!

I had a 4 ton Goodman home air conditioner installed less than 5 years ago. The evaporator coil has already started leaking and is being replaced as I write this review. $625 to replace the coil and $75 handling fee from parts warehouse. My service tech tells me I was lucky to get 5 years and that he replaces these coils frequently. He found the leak in 1 minute. I called Goodman (877-254-4729) and they denied problems with their units and did not offer any compensation. Then I got on this website and read the reviews and got even more depressed. Ill never buy another Goodman (or Amana because I understand they use the same coil) and be sure to tell my story as often as possible.

Purchased a Goodman furnace in January 2010 from a building supply company in Steinbach which is about 20 mins out of Winnipeg. I liked the fact that Goodman was offering a 10 year warranty on the parts and 10 year full replacement. We have had nothing but issues with the unit every winter and always seems to be the same issues - a circuit board, sensors, condensation build up and the motor. I had their Goodman account manager in my home last year after I said I wanted the unit out of our house, was told he was going speak to his superior to make sure I was satisfied Toronto and get back to me, that never happened. I never write reviews about products but the word needs to get out that the furnace is not reliable. If you live in area which only requires your furnace periodically then maybe its fine but not in a Canadian climate.

After having a Goodman furnace installed in my home 7 years ago, I recently had to spend $1000 on repairs. The main blower wheel began to make noise and was found to have cracked welds where the fins attach to the end plate. While the Tech was there he noticed the Combustion Blower was also noisy and dragging. He thought it might last a little longer, but I elected to replace it then as well. Since the furnace was just out of warranty, the cost for the two parts was almost $800. I have seen other complaints regarding Goodman Furnaces and must agree, they are substandard. The initial cost was low, and the unit seems to be efficient, but long term durability is poor. I have heard others say Goodmans are fine for a home you dont intend to keep. Ditto That!

I have a Goodman heat pump that is less than 4 years old but has had many problems in that short span of time. Im already aggravated that Im sitting in the heat with no relief, but what really makes my blood boil is the way I was treated by Goodmans customer service. My air conditioner is out AGAIN and Im sick of paying all the service fees associated with keeping it running. My compressor has now gone bad so even though the part warranty will replace it, Im out the $1400 it cost for labor. I have a Goodman AC unit that is barely 2 years old. Back in November 2017 my coil went bad and lost all coolant. Had to wait almost 2 months for a new coil since it was on backorder. The new coil was installed in January of 2018. Roughly a month later, the float switch died and had to be replaced. A week or two later, the blower died. This also had to be replaced. It is now June of 2018 and the six months old coil is leaking AGAIN! It will cost around 800 dollars to fix AGAIN! Since both coils failed and caused the air handler to freeze up, I now have water damage in the air handler cabinet. Mold is now growing and had to be removed. The air handler cabinet will have to be replaced as well since the insulation is now damaged. With this new repair, I will be $2,000 dollars in the hole on a 2 year old system.Goodman seems like they have poor quality control for their systems and refuse to help. I called the manufacturer and they blame the installation company and to contact the distributor about any complaints. Since the parts keep failing, I would say its the manufacturers fault, not an installation company or distributor. They also have poor customer service. The person I called was Debbie. She was very rude and not helpful at all. She seemed like she didnt want to hear my complaint and not help me. She told us to call the distributor and that was it.With poor quality control and poor customer service, I would have to say this is, by far the worst company I have had to deal with and never will again. Reading all the reviews on here, I am starting to consider legal action against GOODMAN. There has to be some laws protecting consumers against such practices that GOODMAN conducts.

Brand new system has had problems from the start. Multiple repairs have been attempted to remedy an unacceptable noise. Still sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle, which everyone agrees is unacceptable, but nobody can diagnose or fix. Further, the unit leaks a rusty fluid into the pan, and there is condensation/corrosion in the supply plenum which the installer said should never leak.

The parts are warranty but the labor is not, it has costs us 800 to 900 dollars a year. We have called Goodman and they say, the parts are under warranty but we are responsible for the labor to repair these parts. I have asked that extend our warranty or replace the unit. I can get no help. There is no logical reason for the major items in a brand new unit purchased in 2013 have so many bad parts. Customer service is HORRIBLE, no help at all. I had a gas leak the first season (2011). I went without heat for one month as the Gas Company kept turning off my Goodman unit. Dayton Services tech came out 4 times but could find nothing. A neighbor found the leak and they came out and fixed it as I had taken a picture of the leak. Next season the Amana a/c went out and Freon put in. Skipped a season and next year the a/c went out again and capacitor and freon added. Skipped a season and same thing again--Freon and capacitor. I am 83 and didnt want to go through the heat and bought a window unit in anticipation of next breakdown in summer 2018. I called and wrote Goodman (in Houston) along with pages of documentation. No response. Mainly sarcasm. No response from Dayton. Paid $5,000 for the unit. Im supposed to have 10-year warranty and service!

Evaporator coil went bad after 3.5 years (known issue) with Goodman search the web for complaints. I have a 10 year warranty after fighting with Goodman on registering the unit for a new house. My HVAC guy files for warranty. The approval took a week then it took Goodman another week to inform as to COVID19 we are backed logged and dont know when the part will be in stock.Given the amount of people who have the same issue with Goodman one would expect Goodman to have this part in the warehouses. Sadly no warehouses have the part and what was in stock as to the known issue with summer starting those in stock were taken. I have never seen an HVAC system have this issues after 3.5 years. My parents had an Amana hvac from 1980s which was replaced in 1999 that ran with no issues which came with the house. After my 10 year warranty now 7 years left is done if I have issues I will get a Trane with spending the extra money so I do not have to worry about odd issues occurring.

I am a licensed HVAC/R contractor who has been in the field for 30+ years who installs all makes and models. These last two years selling Goodman products has been very very stressful. In particular the build quality is super cheap and flimsy and their quality control is extremely poor. Ive installed 30 gas furnaces in the last year and 10 of them all had wiring issues such as Molex plugs with uncrimped connections. The wires were not even stripped back and also the female spade terminals were poorly attached causing me to waste my time to fix their poorly assembled units. The last straw was I installed a brand new 80000 BTU 92% furnace for a very good customer of mine and it hasnt worked right since it had been installed. Now mind you this is not any fault of installation but fault of Goodman instead. The gas valve was dead on arrival so I thought, Ah. No big deal. Ill just go ahead and replace the gas valve. Things happen, I thought to my self. Well, in goes the new gas valve still not operating so then Im looking at a new replacement circuit board and now Im furious and the customers not too happy either. So go the new board installed. Didnt fix the issue either. Now Im fighting with customer service who is useless by the way and unwilling to help me resolve the issues. The customer service manager was dodging my phone calls and wouldnt return any of my calls. I didnt want an unhappy customer and wanted them to have heat so I removed that pile of junk and put in a New York furnace. Fired up beautifully. No problems and now the customers happy. But Ill tell you Im happy that the customers happy but Im not happy with Goodman. Please whoever reads this refuse Goodman products. They suck. They dont care about you or me and they are not cheap to buy either. Do yourself a favor and buy a quality brand and not this cheaply made trash. It made me look bad to the customer installing a brand new unit that should have had zero problems but ended up hurting me financially as I had to buy the customer a new furnace because they wouldnt help or even refund me for this defective unit. Hopefully they go out of business selling shoddy equipment to us honest hardworking Americans like us. I will never recommend or sell Goodman ever again and will spread the word. Have a blessed day.

A part in the heat pump failed and Amana (Goodman Manufacturing) would NOT stand by the warranty, because we had not formally registered the product with them. Amana (Goodman Manufacturing) would not accept the paid invoices to the builder as proof of purchase. We had a Goodman 3 Ton Unit replaced on 7/21/2015. It cooled all of about 1/2 day. Since it was installed in July during heatwave (94 for more than a week) we thought it was taking house time to cool and the air out of the vent felt marginally cooler than air temp., But we were delusional. The unit was blowing warm air. The installer came on 4 occasions. 1st time to remove Freon, 2nd time and third time diagnose system, 4th install indoor thermostat. Nothing. The unit blows cold air when the sun is down and as soon as the sun comes up fails and blows hot air. Miserable unit. Had a second HVAC person look at unit. Diagnosis, Condenser. To that I say, REALLY it’s not even installed a month??? My house is 80 +, I should not have to live in the heat with a brand new unit sitting outside my house. Today we are suppose to have our installer back to replace the condenser. If this does have the system up and running 24/7, my instructions are for him to remove the unit and install another brand more reputable such as Carrier, York, Trane. I did in depth research to find Goodmans are nothing but a ton of junk that really needs to be pulled off the market. Waste of everyones time and dollars. Furious.

So sorry to write this, but want to warn others not to waste their money buying Goodman HVACs. We are a manufacturers dream because we take care of anything we own. Since purchasing our unit in 2017, we have had it maintained by a local HVAC company that took care of a previous unit for 10 years. On June 1, 2019 our AC went out and diagnosis by the HVAC company that does maintenance as having a bad evaporator coil. I looked online and these normally last between 10 to 15 years. Goodman did warranty the part, but the change out and restarting the unit cost more than $2k.

I have a Goodman heat pump that was installed in Dec 2009. It started leaking freon last year. Just 2 pounds. This year it started freezing up. Guess what? Needs more freon and r22 is high. Just found out r22 production will cease in 2016. This unit is leaking like crazy. Called Goodman. They say my unit is out of warranty because it wasnt registered in first 60 days. What? Is this a gimmick? Thought it came with a 10-year warranty. Seems like a easy way for them to get out of warranty for their products.Ive had cheap Walmart window units last longer than this piece of junk and way cheaper. I found a new a-coil for sale on internet for 500 bucks but found out it might leak when installed new. The a/c company said they would install one for 1500$. Are you kidding. This unit is out of warranty 6 months. Would have been better off paying extra for something better. Overall this will cost me much more in the long run. Goodman customer service is terrible as the guy there just kept saying to call one of their dealers. In my opinion Goodman needs to go out of business or do whats right and fix these faulty units.

I have read so many bad reviews and all I can say is I have been installing Goodman units since 2008 and have yet to have one fail. I would put a Goodman up against any brand. Dollar for dollar and dependability you cant beat it. I have had 2 units where ants made a home in the contactor, but thats the only times I have had to replace any, and I mean any part on a Goodman unit. Goodman also has a solid alum. Evap. Coil, nothing to rust out like other brands have a MILD steel end plates that after 10-15 years of service with it being wet from condensation will rust and cause the copper loops to have pinhole leaks that is impossible to fix. Goodman, Amana, Daikin are all the same company and is the largest HVAC company in the entire world. They didnt get that way from building bad and undependable equipment. They build good quality equipment, maybe its the installer, and not the equipment, because as I have said in the last 9 years of steadily installing Goodman, not one has failed.

The price was 30-60% less than the Brand Names - My unit cost ~$3,200 (a 5 Ton heat pump package unit with additional electric heat & new programmable thermostat) plus an additional $500 for final install - to get warranty activated. Its been working around 11 months and weve had No problems whatsoever. I would recommend this Brand!

Purchased a Goodman 16 seer a/c unit and air handler. The motor in air handler failed in less than 3 months. Had to pay $200.00 additional labor to have it replaced. Very poor quality control. Now very worried what will go out next. Took a week to get new motor in 90 plus Florida heat. Highly recommend you not buy Goodman product.

Buy another brand. This AMANA unit has a ten year warranty and the condenser stopped working after 8 years. Goodman refuses to honor the warranty. They sell crap and then don’t warrant their crap. DON’T BUY GOODMAN/AMANA! Buy a Trane or any other brand! I bought a C/A unit in 1982 and sold the house in 2016 and the condenser/compressor was working just fine after 34 years! This junk quit after 8! The cost was $6840.00! And no warranty! CROOKS!

I bought my house in 2014 in South Florida. The house was brand new construction and very well built. It has all impact windows and doors, along with plenty of insulation. The biggest mistake however was that the builder installed a GOODMAN manufacturing HVAC system. The system is sized well within Florida code and worked fine the first year. However, the second year things quickly went downhill during the summer of 2016 when the condenser motor went out in the unit - only to be followed by the coils leaking 4 months later. As of this summer 2017 the unit has gone out again and was completely out for 2 WEEKS!!! I set the unit to 74 and it runs all day even though the house is 85 degrees inside. I have had 4 different HVAC companies come out and try to diagnose my problem. I have had 7 techs from 4 different companies completely disassemble my unit trying to find the problem. They have checked all the ducting and checked my homes structure for leaks, to no avail. All 4 companies have told me that they believe that the unit is defective and ALL has NOTHING positive to say about the company and all these companies refuse to even do business with GOODMAN (for obvious reasons). That Goodman is one of the cheapest units you can buy and has the most problems! They all recommended that I Bite the Bullet and replace the 3 year old unit, after I have dumped $1400 into it. When I contacted Goodman Manufacturing, an American made Company out of TEXAS. I was told by a supervisor after explaining my situation, that there was nothing they could do to help me out, despite there being a 10 year warranty on the unit. The incompetent employee I spoke to from GOODMAN told me that my unit was fine and didnt see a reason for them to have to replace it. For a companys motto to be, At Goodman we believe in American Dependability. Units are designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A. to tell a customer that theres nothing you can do is appalling. Goodman Units are nothing more than the lowest quality TRASH - Made from defective parts in China and Mexico, shipped to the U.S and then assembled by migrate workers. Their whole American Made motto is **.Goodman Manufacturing and its management are no better than All Talk No Action Politicians! I hope Trump builds that WALL and taxes your defective parts coming into the U.S so much you go bankrupt!!! It is safe to say that I have thrown out my garbage known as Goodman and Switched to a much more dependable A/C unit.As for anyone thinking about buying a Goodman A/C unit dont!!! For anyone thinking about replacing their existing unit or buying a house with a Goodman A/C be warned!!! It will cause you so much money, stress and headache when it goes out within 3 years. You will be HIT IN THE FACE with thousands of dollars in repair bills, only to dish out another several thousand dollars to replace it with another unit. I am so entirely dissatisfied with Goodman, their product as well as their employees. I wont even sell my old unit to anyone because I dont want them going through what I had to, down here during a HOT South Florida Summer. P.S.A.!!! To anyone purchasing a new HVAC unit. Spend the extra money upfront and buy something that will last you at least 10 years. DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM GOODMAN MANUFACTURING OR YOU WILL EAT THESE WORDS, THAT I CAN PROMISE YOU!

My Goodman unit was installed new 2008, both inside and out. The inside unit which was a gas furnace had to be replaced as it was still under the 5 year warranty. The outside unit stopped working about a month ago, which the HVAC guy said it was the capacitor was gone. They replaced that and a week later it stopped working. So now I was told to replace the coil as that was the problem. So I had to pay for that to be replaced, as I was told the warranty was only covered 5 years. That being done, a week later it stopped working again. So this time they said I needed to change out the outside unit.I started asking question as I am now very frustrated, and did a little research. Come to find out, these should have been covered under the 10 year warranty, but we are not being told by the HVAC people to register the system. I was under the impression that they register it, as they are the ones that order them and install them. I have been doing property management for 20 years and was never told this. Also my clients have never been told this either, so I am thinking this is another way for them to make money, as we have to fork out to have these units replaced after only 6-7 years old. The HVAC companies should be held responsible for this and stop misleading the consumers, either they register the units or give the owners the option to register it.I do property management and have been using the same HVAC company for years. So all of the owners property that I take care of and have had replacement units, have never been told, nor was any of the warranty papers brought back to my company for me to register them or give to the owners. My other house - we have had that unit in for 20 years and it is still going (not a Goodman unit). I told my HVAC guy and he told me he had not registered them and that it was up to the owners to register them - how can they if they do not know. My complaint is both with Goodman Manufacturing as I am not happy with their products, and the HVAC Company and all the other HVAC companies who do not let the consumers know about the 10 year warranty. Very misleading.

We purchased (2) 25 Ton Daikin HVAC Units. Goodman Distributors in Philadelphia sold them to our contractor / we bought them from the contractor. Both units arrived on July 11, 2017. 1 of the units worked for a few days. It is now over 40 days and still no sign of getting replacement parts for the unit. The management at Goodman Distributors is absolutely horrible. I cannot express how angry I am at the lack of customer service & no care or desire to fix the unit. Goodman is a company owned by Daikin (manufacturer). They actually told me its the contractors problem - not theirs. Daikin built the unit / Goodman sold the unit - they then wash their hands off it - let me be clear - it work for only a few DAYS! $15,000 for 1 unit. I was instructed to call Customer Care - again - said too bad nothing they can do - call the contractor. This company and the mother company are Dirty People. I made the mistake of agreeing to purchase Daikin units. Be careful if you decide to go with a Goodman Brand - they do not stand behind their equipment. In the event of a bad part (this happens) they will make your life miserable. What they should do is say we are sorry - we will get this resolved immediately. 40+ days and counting - you be the judge!

Brought a unit from Goodman on 3/7/17. Installed the unit for my customer on 3/9/17. On 3/11/17 they had to evacuate from their home because of the smell because the heat exchanger is bad. Also the children got sick and the parents got headaches and had them for 3 days. Goodman said they couldnt give us a new heater and the homeowner no longer wants this furnace in their home. They do not want no tech from Goodman at their home. They want to be reimbursed. The Manager Michael ** was the most unsympathetic person I dealt with in my life. Instead of just reimbursing the homeowner he is making it difficult for them. He wants us to pay a tech from Goodman to deem it bad when we purchase the unit not even a week ago. I will never recommend Goodman to any of my customers and homeowners and I have been doing heating for over 25 years and I know what I am talking about. Do not purchase a heater from Goodman. They didnt care about children getting sick and they had the homeowners without heat for 5 days and will not reimburse them with their money. I am appalled they only care about one thing taking money from customers. They didnt try to help at all. You will never see our business again. I also suggest to you Michael ** learn how to be a manager the way you handle this situation is uncalled for.

When we bought our house, we thought getting a new AC would be a good idea. The old one hadnt been properly maintained and summer was approaching. We had a new outside unit installed, plus new furnace (gas), and air handler. Everything worked great for the first two summers. The 16 SEER unit did a good job keeping up with the blazing Georgia heat, and our electrical bill wasnt too bad. 20 months after it was installed, the motor failed on the outside unit. The compressor was running, but the fan wouldnt turn.I just had the guy out from the company that installed it, and he verified its the motor. So, I now have to wait for a new motor to ship and then be replaced. In all, this is going to cost me $350 in shipping and labor (yes, Im paying shipping, too). It was good while it lasted, but, talk about buyers remorse. This will definitely be my last Goodman product. That includes anything from Daikin (Amana, for example). You lost my business.

First Unit: Would not heat without kicking on strips. Thirteen service calls and 4 years later, it was finally addressed. Second Unit: 2nd year, capacitor failed. 3rd year, same capacitor failed. 4th year, outside unit fan failed. Had a couple of other smaller issues, too. Also purchased 10 year parts/labor warranty with Goodman. Apparently not. Even though I have an invoice that states what I purchased, Goodman will not recognize the labor warranty. Made many calls to get the issue addressed and they would not listen. I can understand one or two problems, but not many significant problems, continually on two separate new units. We keep temp 78 in summer and 68 in winter, so not an overworked system. I purchased a 16 seer Variable speed 2 stage 3 ton heat pump with a AVPTC air handler. The unit was purchased and installed on 1/13/2012. Almost immediately the problems started. Goodman replaced the variable speed motor in the air handler along with the circuit board. I then started having problems with the heat pump in the winter months kicking out on the high head pressure limit. After many calls to Goodman, they sent a factory Rep from Iowa along with a rep. from Lute Supply where the unit was purchased. The rep found a short in the high pressure limit, a Hard start was added to the heat pump and the unit worked fine for about 6 months. At this point I have $750.00 invested in service calls. The unit failed again in August 2016. Service was called again and the run capacitor was replaced. Service call $313.00. The unit ran fine until 10/25/17 when the heat pump stopped. Service was again called and I was told the unit is leaking and coil needs replaced. I have 13 service calls on this unit at a cost of $1800.00. The unit is coming out, I would never recommend Goodman products.

From day one I have hated this LOUD condenser. I trusted my HVAC contractor, who had worked on our home for 5+ years and that was a fatal mistake. We had a York AC unit that was great but when it leaked he said he would replace it. He replaced it with a Goodman condenser and coil - I had no idea he would not be replacing it with another York system as he did not tell me he only installed Goodman units. The second it was installed it was LOUD inside our home. Amazingly enough, when I pointed it out to the installer/owner of the HVAC company he said, Does not sound loud to me. Hey, its not your house! Had the tech service guy come out from Goodman and he went through the entire condenser unit and in his report he said it was all great but it was loud inside the house but very quiet outside - so when the AC is running I would need to be outside - perfect. Pretty much my two+ months with customer service, their supervisor, the tech supervisor have been horrible and 10 years of this is just going to be a picnic. DO NOT BUY GOODMAN and do NOT ever trust your HVAC company to install anything without your permission.

I am not happy with the Goodman A/C that was purchased in December 2009 and was installed on December 26, 2009. I have had nothing but problems with the unit and I purchased the 10 - 10 - 10 year warranty on the unit. Even though you have the warranty, the refrigerant is not covered and you are responsible for adding it - also you have to pay the service calls to get the unit checked. On 6-22-2010 the compressor went out and a new one was installed. On 8-9-11 the blower motor went out and was replaced. On 6-3-2014 the evaporator coil had to be replaced. On 2-23-15 the condenser coil was leaking and has to be replaced - found out to get a new condenser coil would be 7-14 days, because there was not one in the state of Florida. I would not recommend the purchase of a Goodman Unit of any kind. I purchased a heat pump in 11/2011 and then started to have a lot of problems in 2015. It was noisy running also. Then on 5/15 was my 1st service call and they found a hole in the coil which leaked freon. Had to be repaired and added freon. Then 4/2016 it stopped working completely. Another service call and they had to replace the compressor and defrost control unit. At least they were under warranty, but I had to pay for service call and freon. Thats not cheap either. On July 8 warm air came thru vents. Serviceman had to add more freon and changed the schraders. More money. This lasted a week and back to warm air again. Another call another hole in coil and more freon. This lasted a month so now its Aug. 2016 and Im sitting here in my house with temp of 95 and outside temp of 98. I have so much money out for service calls and freon, that Ive decided that I am going to have to buy a new heat pump when this one isnt even 5 yrs. old. But with all the money going for repairs, I could have put in a new one. I trusted the dealer for the quality of Goodman products, but since all these troubles Ive read all the unsatisfactory notations and Im adding to it. In fact the customer service girl at Goodman hung up on me when I told her I would never recommend this company to anyone. Hows that for rude employees!! I would like to get some of my money back if its possible. I wrote to Goodman asking for this, but I doubt if I will because they dont care. Goodman 2 Ton 13 Seer A/C unit and compressor: Bought a unit in 2009 - every year had to have them come and do something because it either did not heat or did not cool. Bought it for $2,355. In 2012 I ended up with bills over $2,400 in repairs. Whatever went wrong was NEVER a warrantied part. Watched them fix the air handler and saw the most flimsy wires ever which I was told would burn out every so often. Last couple of years, the compressor seemed to be rather noisy. Filed a complaint and now I am getting nowhere because the installer and manufacturer keep blaming the other person. IF neither accepts responsibility, then I hope to go the the media to have this resolved. Heard there is a lawsuit against Goodman Mfg. Id like to have a decent unit put in. Tired of the expense. Last year, I bought a house that recently had a Goodman heat pump installed shortly before my purchase. Recently, I discovered the contractor had not installed the unit per Goodmans guidelines. I called them up to see if the installation was still acceptable, despite not being per their guidelines, or if I should talk to the contractor about re-doing it. I figured that if Goodman said it is acceptable, then I would drop the matter; if Goodman said it isnt acceptable, I would have more leverage in asking the work to be re-done.As a homeowner, they refused to talk to me; they said to talk to a Goodman installer. I told them my problem was with an installer, so how could I be sure that another installer would give good advice. (I am a retired HVAC engineer, so I would understand whatever technical advice they gave.) I can understand them wanting to be careful what they say, and refer many questions to an installer, since most people dont understand HVAC, but my question is a simple one, Is the installation acceptable as-is? With this kind of support, no, I will not buy a Goodman unit.

I purchased a brand new Goodman 4 ton HVAC unit in March 2017 for 5k. Only 4 years later the compressor goes out and it cost me $800 in labor to fix their bad products?! How is this okay? Goodman should have to stand behind the labor charges too! I will NEVER buy GOODMAN again!! Dont do it!! I wish I had thought to visit this site before I made my purchase... Live and learn!

I bought a Goodman Heat pump last year. Already I have had 2 leaks and had a contractor come out to fix the fan because it will cut off.. The fan runs all the time.. Will not hold freon and Goodman will not replace the unit. I have had nothing but trouble with this Goodman heat pump.. I will not... or will not recommend one to anyone.. I feel like telling them to come and get it and just buy me another unit made buy someone else. The unit is less than a year old.

I purchased both a Goodman Central AC Unit and a Goodman Furnace in 2013. I had become disabled around that time and this was my last big purchase. I had hoped that in buying 2 new units that I wouldnt have problems with them and that theyd be reliable for years to come. That was not the case. When I went to start up the AC at the beginning of the 2nd year, it wasnt working. The repairman had to replace the coil. Now, going into the 5th year, my furnace is not working. The repairman came out and said it needed a part that had to be ordered. He said the error code on the panel read: Low fire pressure switch open. Since it was Friday afternoon when the repairman came out, the part wouldnt be delivered until late Monday (or early Tuesday) and so therefore Tuesday would be the earliest it could be repaired. This left me without heat for almost 6 days in 30-degree weather with snow on the ground. Its freezing in this house. I have severe arthritis and nerve damage which is worse in the cold. Ive had to increase my pain medication and Im stuck sitting under a heated blanket.I made this purchase because I didnt want to have to worry about my old system breaking down while I was out of work with limited funds and as it turned out, my 20-year-old system was more reliable. Im really disgusted with this company. Both their AC units and furnaces are junk. I spent thousands thinking I was making a good investment for my home and its one of the worst purchases Ive ever made.

I bought a Goodman M acvolt8/ 208/233 unit when I bought my module home Feb 2015. This came as a package deal. I have had to have a local authorized dealer out three times because the air conditioner will not work. Leak found at filter dryer and piston meter device. There is a clog in the system in the area of the clog. The unit was completely frozen. There was no Freon in the system. This system is LESS than two years old. The repairman also noted that the ductwork was not the proper size for the unit we have. I need to have the unit completely replaced and have the proper ductwork put in or I will continue to have this problem. Since the AC/HEATING unit came as a package deal through Taylor Made Homes and Destiny manufacturer I had no choice in what company they used.

Let me start out by saying Im a HVAC business owner for 24 years and I will no longer be installing Goodman equipment. The reason is that Ive needed technical help on a few jobs in the last month and the Tech Desk was the worse Ive dealt with out of any manufacturer. They were short, didnt give me many things to try and after I told them what Ive already tried, they were like I dont know. I kept asking them what other things I can try and they just repeated themselves giving me no new things to try. Ive always had great help with other Tech help with other brands and they always helped me figure it out. But Goodman Tech help was worthless the 4 times I dealt with them. They all must really hate their job and take it out on the Service people that call in. Ive been installing Goodman on and off since it was Janitrol. They were helpful and nice years ago. I havent had to call in for Tech help in years and man have they changed. The most arrogant, rudest ** Ive ever talked to. They all need to be fired and hire new Techs and retrain them. Otherwise this company will fall within 5 years the path they are on. I see many other 1 star reviews on here which means this companys Customer Service sucks. Wake up Goodman and if you cant see all these negative reviews, you people in corporate are the dumbest people on earth and you deserve to fail. If I owned a huge company such as Goodman and I see all these negative reviews, I would do undercover calls and find out who all the filth and garbage is within the company and fire them. A new training regimen must be enacted immediately for customer service. New management must be put in place. Out with the old and in with the new.

The capacitor failed after only 3 1/2 years. While this inexpensive part (less than $30) is covered under warranty the labor of a licensed HVAC contractor is not covered. So I had to dish out $180 for labor. Labor should be covered under warranty as well. Disappointing and frustrating to happen on a relatively new unit.

I had an old furnace, but it stopped functioning during the last winter. I decided to try a Goodman furnace as recommended by one of my brothers. The GCVM96 model heats my house quick, and my gas bills have gone down by a noticeable margin. I am yet to do any repairs on this model, and I don’t expect to do any repairs soon. If I am to buy again, I will, of course, buy Goodman again although the prices are a bit high.
