Goodman Appliance Repair

Goodman Manufacturing offers a range of affordable air conditioning, packaged units, heat pumps and gas furnaces for residential heating and cooling needs.

Air Conditioner Repair

Goodman manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Goodman appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Goodman Central air conditioner not cooling
The furnace control board sends a low voltage signal to the contactor. When the contactor receives the signal from the control board, it closes the circuit, sending voltage to the condensing unit components. If the contactor is defective, it will not provide voltage to the condensing unit. To determine if the contactor is at fault, use a multimeter to test the contactor for continuity. If the contactor does not have continuity, replace it.

Goodman Central air conditioner is noisy or loud
The condenser fan motor has bearings that can wear out over time. When the bearings are worn out, they make loud noise. To check the bearings, try rotating the condenser fan motor by hand. If the motor does not turn smoothly, replace it.

Goodman Condenser fan motor does not run
If the capacitor is defective, the fan motor might be noisy, overheat, or not run at all. To determine if the capacitor has failed, inspect the capacitor. If the capacitor is bulging or leaking, replace it.

Goodman Condensing unit does not run
The wall thermostat has contacts in it that control the furnace. If the contact fails it can result in the furnace & condenser unit to not run at all.

Furnace Repair

Goodman manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Goodman appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Goodman Furnace not heating
The igniter gets very hot and glows bright orange to light the gas burner. If the igniter fails or cracks, the furnace won’t heat. To determine if the igniter is faulty, remove the igniter and inspect it for cracks. If the igniter is cracked, replace it. If the igniter is not cracked, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.

Goodman Furnace is noisy or loud
The blower wheel blows air out of the furnace and through the house. The blower wheel is attached to the blower motor shaft with a set screw. If the set screw is loose, the blower wheel will wobble on the motor shaft, and the wheel will be noisy as it turns. Check the set screw to ensure that it is properly tightened. Next, inspect the wheel for damage. If the blower wheel is damaged, replace it.

Goodman Furnace starts then stops
The flame sensor monitors the burner to detect whether or not a flame is present. If the flame sensor is defective, it might fail to detect a flame. If the flame sensor does not detect a flame, the control board will shut off voltage to the gas valve to prevent the furnace from heating. Sometimes, if the flame sensor is dirty, it will fail to detect a flame. Try cleaning the flame sensor with a fine abrasive pad. If the furnace still doesn’t heat, replace the flame sensor.

Goodman Furnace blower not running
The blower motor blows air through the return vent, past the heat exchanger, and into the home’s venting. First, make sure that power is getting to the motor. If power is getting to the blower motor, but the motor does not run, the motor may be burned out. If the blower motor is burned out, replace it. If the blower motor hums, check the blower fan to ensure that it spins freely. If the blower fan is unobstructed but does not spin freely, replace the blower motor.

Goodman Furnace blower runs all the time
The control board has relays that regulate the voltage to each component in the furnace. If the relay that controls the blower motor fails while it is closed, it will send continuous voltage to the blower motor, causing the motor to run continuously. If the control board is at fault, replace it.

Heat Pump Repair

While it's generally recommended to consult a professional HVAC technician for heat pump repairs, there are a few troubleshooting tips you can try before calling for service. Keep in mind that working with electrical components and refrigerants can be dangerous, so exercise caution and prioritize your safety. Here are some heat pump repair tips:

Check Power Supply: Ensure that the heat pump is receiving power. Check the circuit breaker or fuse box to see if a breaker has tripped or a fuse has blown. Reset the breaker or replace the fuse if necessary. Also, check that the heat pump's disconnect switch is in the "ON" position.

Inspect and Clean Air Filters: Dirty air filters can restrict airflow and cause efficiency issues. Check and clean or replace the air filters if they are dirty or clogged.

Clear Debris from Outdoor Unit: Inspect the outdoor unit and remove any debris, such as leaves, dirt, or grass, that may be obstructing the airflow. Ensure that the unit is not covered or blocked.

Check Thermostat Settings: Make sure the thermostat is set to the appropriate temperature and mode (heating or cooling). Verify that the fan is set to "Auto" or "On" depending on your preference.

Check and Clean Condenser Coils: Over time, the condenser coils on the outdoor unit can accumulate dirt and debris, reducing efficiency. Carefully clean the coils using a soft brush or hose, being cautious not to damage the fins.

Verify Outdoor Fan Operation: Ensure that the outdoor fan is spinning freely and not obstructed. If the fan is not running or making unusual noises, it may require professional attention.

Check Refrigerant Levels: Low refrigerant levels can affect the heat pump's performance. However, refrigerant handling requires specialized equipment and knowledge, so it's best to leave this task to a qualified technician.

Monitor for Unusual Noises or Smells: Pay attention to any unusual noises or smells coming from the heat pump. Grinding, squealing, or buzzing noises, as well as burning odors, could indicate mechanical or electrical issues that require professional attention.

Remember, these tips are general in nature, and the specific repairs needed for your heat pump may require professional expertise. If you're unsure or uncomfortable performing any repairs, it's always best to contact a qualified HVAC technician for assistance.

WE had the unit installed # GMH95GCH95GCH9. This is about 5 years ago. At first it ran fine then one day it quit. The installer had me look for the red light, throw the little hole in the top center part of the unit. The light was blinking and he wanted to know the pattern. All it did was a steady blink. Then we turned off the power and turned it on and the furnace worked. We have been doing this for a couple of years. It is the only way we can heat the house. Is there anybody in Beaverton who could make this unit run like it should?

I purchased a heat pump in 11/2011 and then started to have a lot of problems in 2015. It was noisy running also. Then on 5/15 was my 1st service call and they found a hole in the coil which leaked freon. Had to be repaired and added freon. Then 4/2016 it stopped working completely. Another service call and they had to replace the compressor and defrost control unit. At least they were under warranty, but I had to pay for service call and freon. Thats not cheap either. On July 8 warm air came thru vents. Serviceman had to add more freon and changed the schraders. More money. This lasted a week and back to warm air again. Another call another hole in coil and more freon. This lasted a month so now its Aug. 2016 and Im sitting here in my house with temp of 95 and outside temp of 98. I have so much money out for service calls and freon, that Ive decided that I am going to have to buy a new heat pump when this one isnt even 5 yrs. old. But with all the money going for repairs, I could have put in a new one. I trusted the dealer for the quality of Goodman products, but since all these troubles Ive read all the unsatisfactory notations and Im adding to it. In fact the customer service girl at Goodman hung up on me when I told her I would never recommend this company to anyone. Hows that for rude employees!! I would like to get some of my money back if its possible. I wrote to Goodman asking for this, but I doubt if I will because they dont care. They dont even make my model anymore, so it must have been bad to begin with. I hope other people read the reviews about Goodman before they purchase anything and dont buy from them. Model #GSZ1302471 serial #1107701356.

Since March 2020 the following parts failed in our four-ton unit and had to be replaced. One new compressor to replace the original part that comes with the box.Two air handler fans. One to replace the original comes with the box and a second to replace the first replacement. Three main CPU logic boards. One to replace the one that comes with the box and the others to replace the replacement parts. The company we purchased the A/C units from has been very, very helpful and should get five stars out of five for the efforts put into making this right. The smaller, 2 1/2 ton unit that was purchased and installed at the same time has had no issues.

All I can say is, I had a York system that was 20+ yrs. old, and the original condenser fan. And my new Goodman unit has a condenser fan that is louder than my old unit. Maybe Goodman needs to put more $ and effort into research and development. If I had known, would never have bought a Goodman.

We purchased (2) 25 Ton Daikin HVAC Units. Goodman Distributors in Philadelphia sold them to our contractor / we bought them from the contractor. Both units arrived on July 11, 2017. 1 of the units worked for a few days. It is now over 40 days and still no sign of getting replacement parts for the unit. The management at Goodman Distributors is absolutely horrible. I cannot express how angry I am at the lack of customer service & no care or desire to fix the unit. Goodman is a company owned by Daikin (manufacturer). They actually told me its the contractors problem - not theirs. Daikin built the unit / Goodman sold the unit - they then wash their hands off it - let me be clear - it work for only a few DAYS! $15,000 for 1 unit. I was instructed to call Customer Care - again - said too bad nothing they can do - call the contractor. This company and the mother company are Dirty People. I made the mistake of agreeing to purchase Daikin units. Be careful if you decide to go with a Goodman Brand - they do not stand behind their equipment. In the event of a bad part (this happens) they will make your life miserable. What they should do is say we are sorry - we will get this resolved immediately. 40+ days and counting - you be the judge!

Nov 21, 2019 Warranty with lots of loopholes. I have bought a few Goodman furnaces in the last few years. I flip houses for a living and have rentals. I used to think they were a good value. Just had some warranty issues with 2 units.! Four years old bad induced draft motor. And plugged heat exchanger. The second one 5 years old bad blower motor. I called Goodman about both units and they would not honor either warranty. If you do buy one make sure it is registered and the date it was made not just installed. And when I took another look at the warranty it is not covered if bought on the internet. I currently am talking to a few attorneys about their warranty practice and what can be done. I will never buy a Goodman or Dykin Ever again.

We purchased a new Goodman heat pump and new furnace. We have had nothing but TROUBLE from the heat pump. Faulty parts and leaking freon. It is costly to have to keep fixing a NEW heat pump. I wish I still had my old one but we were told we had to let them have our old system??? For what it cost to repair this NEW heat pump you could just purchase a NEW heat pump. This is crazy. Other heat pumps last for 20 years or more with no problems? I give up on Goodman heat pumps.

Bought Goodman. Never again. 2 burnt blower motors and now a defective evaporator coil and on top of that my installer said it’s all warrantied through Goodman for 10 years but now Goodman says they will not warranty the units for 10 years; only 5 because a form was not filed within 90 days from install. This is bull. It’s because they are in a class action lawsuit about having lot and lots of defective coils and so theyre trying to get out of covering their 10 year warranty on a technicality and because they know their stuff will only last for 5 year and now turning the blame on homeowners for their installing company negligence in not filing their paperwork timely by saying, Oh that’s the homeowners responsibility to file the warranty paperwork and if they don’t we will penalize them for our defective products.Let’s face it. Paperwork or not it should not affect the warranty. If their stuff was built right from the beginning and they felt a 10 year warranty was proper then filing a form should not matter. It does not change the MFG date or the install date or the way they make their products. They have not heard the last from me. This is just a start.Buy Trane not Goodman and save your self lots of headaches. Dealing with Goodman’s customers service is a joke just a headache. I’m not asking for labor charges or the 10 lbs of Freon that was lost due to their defective coils just to stand behind their 10 year policy and provide the parts to replace their known bad inferior parts for the 10 year period they promised. If youre looking for HVAC work do your homework. Check out the net for all the people having issues with Goodman then buy something else more reliable like American Standard or Trane. I wish I did.

We purchased a Goodman HVAC 3-ton GSZ130361BC in April 2012. In June 2014 we paid for 3 pounds of coolant. On July 12, 2014, one more pound of coolant was added. They found the evaporator coil was leaking. On July 17, 2014, a new coil was installed. It required two men to remove it, so we had to pay $400 extra. One year later, July 26, 2015, the system has shut down. It appears to be an electrical problem this time. Our 3-yr-old system has already cost us $954 in repairs (not counting todays pending repair). We definitely would not recommend this product.

I purchased a Goodman central air conditioner in 2009. Since that purchase I have had to change the inside coils within 4 yrs and numerous service calls. Last year June of 2013, there was a leak on the inside coils and it cost me 400.00 labor and prior to that I spent 350.00 to diagnose the problem. Now it is Sept 2014, the air compressor locked up and failed, now the warranty expired in 5 yrs. I am looking at a replacement cost of at least 1400.00, but Goodman honored the warranty because it was expired by 2 days. Next week Sept 15 the coils in the unit leaked, the technicians tried to repaired it but could not. I had to purchase a new unit for 1450.00

4 years ago I had both inside and outside units replaced for peace of mind at retirement. Outside unit is a Goodman 4 ton and inside is a Miller furnace in a Modular home. This unit for 4 years has blown water into the plenum and soaked it so bad, I am sure it needs full replacement now. Then 4 years in a row the fine Goodman outside unit has failed in midsummer and is down again right now. It has had coils replaced and compressors replaced and is still under warranty, but when ac repair crew gets out here again maybe Tuesday, I am going to cut my losses and have this junk removed from my sight. It is still under warranty, but I see no reason to keep this unit in service. Right now I think it is the compressor out again, that will be number 3. This needs to be completely removed and everything repaired under furnace to stop water and mold. Cant believe they can sell such poor equipment to people in this country. I will now being retired have to buy and pay for install of another unit and they can take this Goodman with its warranty to the landfill site. DO NOT BUY A GOODMAN UNIT, UNLESS YOU WANT CONSTANT REPAIRS AND EXPENSE ON YOUR PART.

So after reading good reviews and hearing good things about Goodman, I decided to fork out the money and pay to have a brand new Goodman heat pump packaged unit installed before winter gets here. Well needless to say that Id much rather have my 13 year old unit back in. The HVAC service company installed a new 3-Ton Packed heat Pump in on the 23rd of November. Its been almost two weeks and already Im very disappointed in this unit. Yes it may be a little bit quieter but it definitely does not get as warm as my York did. The funny thing is that they are both the same size. Im an engineer so I took my infrared thermal gun along with my Fluke Thermometer to record over a two day period what the min., avg.,and max. temps coming out the ducts were. This past weekend the outside air temp was around 42-45 deg. F.. This isnt all that cold outside but needless to say that having my thermostat left on 73 all weekend left for some warm to even bitter air temps inside the house. My house is basically a brand new house with all new dry walls and insulation. After recording the temps, the lowest air temp the hvac pumped out was 64.8, the average was 78.6, and finally the max. temp was 96.8. Only 96.8? That is ridiculous for it being only 42 degrees outside. My 13 year old York heat pump unit would put out at least 110-115 max in that weather. Needless to say I will never buy a Goodman again after losing all the money that I have. Im scared to see how cold its going to be in this house when it is 0-5 degrees and snowing outside. Im more than likely going to have to bite the bullet on this one and buy a whole new unit from York, Trane, or even a Lennox.

I bought a 15 seer heat pump from Goodman Manufacturing. This is my worst mistake ever, less than 5 years evaporator coil started leaking out Freon. 2 pounds to start with, then 1 year later 5 pounds. Unless you like spending enormous amounts of money on Freon ($45 per pound), and $75 per hour labor, do not buy a goodman heat pump or air conditioner. The amount of rust around the evaporator coil is unbelievable. Their warranty is a ** warranty. The warranty is only as good as the product, and the product is only as good as the warranty. Please do some research and don’t buy goodman products. I thought it said made in America. Its made with defective parts, please look at all their negative reviews. I had a Rheem that lasted 31 years and a carrier 33 years.

I called the company who sold me the unit (C&C Heating and Cooling). They came out twice and told me it was a faulty coil and the freon was freezing up. I am retired and cannot afford to be paying service and parts for something I should not have to do. I had to pay $250.00 for service, part and freon. I called your company and was told to contact you when the service was complete. I have all the invoices. In 2011, I had two Goodman split units (upstairs and downstairs) installed. With minor parts calls, for the most part they have worked OK. I purchased Goodman Goodcare Extended Warranties (10 year) coverage on parts and labor. It is Oct 2019 (8 years of operation) and the main floor outside unit 3.5 ton unit compressor failed. The largest HVAC vendor (also a Goodman dealer) in the area will only cover the parts but not honor the labor warranty. The answer back is that Goodman is either slow or never reimburses the dealers/vendors on labor and so the vendors wont honor it. I called Goodman for other HVAC vendors to call. From the list they provided of vendors, two are no longer in business, and the other says they will not honor the labor warranty either. :(

It is a waste of electricity even though was sold as an energy saver. Runs for 20 to 30 min and never gets above 75 output. This is with 70 room temp and 70 set on thermostat. I am a licensed HVAC/R contractor who has been in the field for 30+ years who installs all makes and models. These last two years selling Goodman products has been very very stressful. In particular the build quality is super cheap and flimsy and their quality control is extremely poor. Ive installed 30 gas furnaces in the last year and 10 of them all had wiring issues such as Molex plugs with uncrimped connections. The wires were not even stripped back and also the female spade terminals were poorly attached causing me to waste my time to fix their poorly assembled units. The last straw was I installed a brand new 80000 BTU 92% furnace for a very good customer of mine and it hasnt worked right since it had been installed. Now mind you this is not any fault of installation but fault of Goodman instead. The gas valve was dead on arrival so I thought, Ah. No big deal. Ill just go ahead and replace the gas valve. Things happen, I thought to my self. Well, in goes the new gas valve still not operating so then Im looking at a new replacement circuit board and now Im furious and the customers not too happy either. So go the new board installed. Didnt fix the issue either. Now Im fighting with customer service who is useless by the way and unwilling to help me resolve the issues. The customer service manager was dodging my phone calls and wouldnt return any of my calls. I didnt want an unhappy customer and wanted them to have heat so I removed that pile of junk and put in a New York furnace. Fired up beautifully. No problems and now the customers happy. But Ill tell you Im happy that the customers happy but Im not happy with Goodman. Please whoever reads this refuse Goodman products. They suck. They dont care about you or me and they are not cheap to buy either. Do yourself a favor and buy a quality brand and not this cheaply made trash. It made me look bad to the customer installing a brand new unit that should have had zero problems but ended up hurting me financially as I had to buy the customer a new furnace because they wouldnt help or even refund me for this defective unit. Hopefully they go out of business selling shoddy equipment to us honest hardworking Americans like us. I will never recommend or sell Goodman ever again and will spread the word. Have a blessed day.

Heat pump 4 years old - spent 2500$ in repairs already. The very first year, we had to replace the condenser, the second year, the coils, the third year we have had to replace the tubing soldering. The parts are warranty but the labor is not, it has costs us 800 to 900 dollars a year. We have called Goodman and they say, the parts are under warranty but we are responsible for the labor to repair these parts. I have asked that extend our warranty or replace the unit. I can get no help. There is no logical reason for the major items in a brand new unit purchased in 2013 have so many bad parts. Customer service is HORRIBLE, no help at all. In 2009, I built a new house and it was finished about August of 2010. I bought a Goodman whole home system, which had an air conditioning unit, a furnace, and the inside air conditioning unit in February of 2010. Since I have had it installed by professionals, I have had nothing but trouble. The outside air conditioning unit turns on very loud and when it gets to normal speed, the fan will jolt really hard and you will hear a really loud grinding noise. This has happened since about September of 2010. We have had 3 service calls out to our house and all of them said that it needed freon or there was a fan issue. We didnt have the money for them to take it apart and find something wrong to cost even more money, so we left it alone. It still does that grinding every time it runs. Then, yesterday (9/5/2015) the outside unit was making a weird noise and the inside unit was not blowing any air into the vents of the house. The inside unit was also make a whining sound, so I shut the whole system off and went back to check it out. The pipe that goes from the outside unit to the inside unit had ice build-up all over it. I let it thaw for an hour and turned it on again to see what it would do. The outside unit will turn on fine, (still makes that grinding noise) but the inside unit will not turn on at all, so it will not blow any air to the vents. I tripped the breakers to the system to see if it would reset, and now the outside unit will not turn on at all!We called our local place to have them look at it this morning (9/6/2015). They got the outside unit working but found out that the fan for the inside unit is burned up and they dont have it in stock. If they cant fix this, I am just going to rip the whole system out and put in a Carrier or a Trane system. I cant believe a company would do this to people. Take their money and then right after the warranty expires, the whole system goes down. UNBELIEVABLE!!

Weve been pleased with our Goodman heat and air units, at 16 years old both air and heat run efficiently. We have maintained them by having a professional come in, replace any parts needed, tweak the units. We keep the filters changed about 4 times a year. Before we turn on the A/C we clean the outside unit of any debris, our HVAC tech also cleans it. Overall we are pleased.

Our Amana heat pump started breaking down after 5 years. First it was a leak, then coil, condenser then the other coil and another 5-6 leaks repaired. All of these on separate occasions & all in an 8 month period. Customer service wasnt any help either! I will never purchase Goodman Mfg. brand in the future!

I have read so many bad reviews and all I can say is I have been installing Goodman units since 2008 and have yet to have one fail. I would put a Goodman up against any brand. Dollar for dollar and dependability you cant beat it. I have had 2 units where ants made a home in the contactor, but thats the only times I have had to replace any, and I mean any part on a Goodman unit. Goodman also has a solid alum. Evap. Coil, nothing to rust out like other brands have a MILD steel end plates that after 10-15 years of service with it being wet from condensation will rust and cause the copper loops to have pinhole leaks that is impossible to fix. Goodman, Amana, Daikin are all the same company and is the largest HVAC company in the entire world. They didnt get that way from building bad and undependable equipment. They build good quality equipment, maybe its the installer, and not the equipment, because as I have said in the last 9 years of steadily installing Goodman, not one has failed.

So sorry to write this, but want to warn others not to waste their money buying Goodman HVACs. We are a manufacturers dream because we take care of anything we own. Since purchasing our unit in 2017, we have had it maintained by a local HVAC company that took care of a previous unit for 10 years. On June 1, 2019 our AC went out and diagnosis by the HVAC company that does maintenance as having a bad evaporator coil. I looked online and these normally last between 10 to 15 years. Goodman did warranty the part, but the change out and restarting the unit cost more than $2k.

Let me start out by saying Im a HVAC business owner for 24 years and I will no longer be installing Goodman equipment. The reason is that Ive needed technical help on a few jobs in the last month and the Tech Desk was the worse Ive dealt with out of any manufacturer. They were short, didnt give me many things to try and after I told them what Ive already tried, they were like I dont know. I kept asking them what other things I can try and they just repeated themselves giving me no new things to try. Ive always had great help with other Tech help with other brands and they always helped me figure it out. But Goodman Tech help was worthless the 4 times I dealt with them. They all must really hate their job and take it out on the Service people that call in. Ive been installing Goodman on and off since it was Janitrol. They were helpful and nice years ago. I havent had to call in for Tech help in years and man have they changed. The most arrogant, rudest ** Ive ever talked to. They all need to be fired and hire new Techs and retrain them. Otherwise this company will fall within 5 years the path they are on. I see many other 1 star reviews on here which means this companys Customer Service sucks. Wake up Goodman and if you cant see all these negative reviews, you people in corporate are the dumbest people on earth and you deserve to fail. If I owned a huge company such as Goodman and I see all these negative reviews, I would do undercover calls and find out who all the filth and garbage is within the company and fire them. A new training regimen must be enacted immediately for customer service. New management must be put in place. Out with the old and in with the new.

I bought my house in 2014 in South Florida. The house was brand new construction and very well built. It has all impact windows and doors, along with plenty of insulation. The biggest mistake however was that the builder installed a GOODMAN manufacturing HVAC system. The system is sized well within Florida code and worked fine the first year. However, the second year things quickly went downhill during the summer of 2016 when the condenser motor went out in the unit - only to be followed by the coils leaking 4 months later. As of this summer 2017 the unit has gone out again and was completely out for 2 WEEKS!!! I set the unit to 74 and it runs all day even though the house is 85 degrees inside. I have had 4 different HVAC companies come out and try to diagnose my problem. I have had 7 techs from 4 different companies completely disassemble my unit trying to find the problem. They have checked all the ducting and checked my homes structure for leaks, to no avail. All 4 companies have told me that they believe that the unit is defective and ALL has NOTHING positive to say about the company and all these companies refuse to even do business with GOODMAN (for obvious reasons). That Goodman is one of the cheapest units you can buy and has the most problems! They all recommended that I Bite the Bullet and replace the 3 year old unit, after I have dumped $1400 into it. When I contacted Goodman Manufacturing, an American made Company out of TEXAS. I was told by a supervisor after explaining my situation, that there was nothing they could do to help me out, despite there being a 10 year warranty on the unit. The incompetent employee I spoke to from GOODMAN told me that my unit was fine and didnt see a reason for them to have to replace it. For a companys motto to be, At Goodman we believe in American Dependability. Units are designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A. to tell a customer that theres nothing you can do is appalling. Goodman Units are nothing more than the lowest quality TRASH - Made from defective parts in China and Mexico, shipped to the U.S and then assembled by migrate workers. Their whole American Made motto is **.Goodman Manufacturing and its management are no better than All Talk No Action Politicians! I hope Trump builds that WALL and taxes your defective parts coming into the U.S so much you go bankrupt!!! It is safe to say that I have thrown out my garbage known as Goodman and Switched to a much more dependable A/C unit.As for anyone thinking about buying a Goodman A/C unit dont!!! For anyone thinking about replacing their existing unit or buying a house with a Goodman A/C be warned!!! It will cause you so much money, stress and headache when it goes out within 3 years. You will be HIT IN THE FACE with thousands of dollars in repair bills, only to dish out another several thousand dollars to replace it with another unit. I am so entirely dissatisfied with Goodman, their product as well as their employees. I wont even sell my old unit to anyone because I dont want them going through what I had to, down here during a HOT South Florida Summer. P.S.A.!!! To anyone purchasing a new HVAC unit. Spend the extra money upfront and buy something that will last you at least 10 years. DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM GOODMAN MANUFACTURING OR YOU WILL EAT THESE WORDS, THAT I CAN PROMISE YOU!

Our house had a Lennox heat pump system that came with a new house made in 2006. It nearly broke me financially with repairs and the straw broke when my family was on the cold side during last winter. I called Recker and Boerger this year and they gave us a bid on a brand-new GOODMAN 16 SEER 4-ton unit armed with a scroll compressor, matching variable air handler, 5-year parts and labor warranty on the entire unit, 10-year parts after the 5 years is up, and a LIFETIME scroll compressor replacement guarantee in the event that the compressor fails for any reason--providing it stays at the same house it was installed in. I explained in great detail to the R&B salesman that my family had been through hell with winter and repair costs and we really needed some good service.

I purchased this unit from a local contractor and have had 3 problems with it since installation. I had installer fix the first issue which he told me they would not charge me for. Unit was installed horizontally in attic and installers didnt know that when unit is installed this way condensation builds up in tube which wont allow heat to start up.Their employees are totally incompetent since they never glued PVC vent and exhaust piping through roof. Primed but never glued. Stick a piece of pipe in and thats done. Crooked coming out the roof, which I had to have repaired with the unglued pieces of pipe. Im afraid to check and see if they at least glued the pipe that holds condensation as that will eventually leak in time if that was also improperly installed. Now I had to have flame sensor replaced and unit is only 3 years old. Goodbye to Mensers Heating and Cooling and Goodman products.

By Monday the coil drip pan developed a crack and was leaking water. Goodman was called by the installing A/C company for a replacement part and asked them to cover the install due to their part being faulty. Goodman refused to help or cover the labor cost. I have a Goodman heat pump that was installed in Dec 2009. It started leaking freon last year. Just 2 pounds. This year it started freezing up. Guess what? Needs more freon and r22 is high. Just found out r22 production will cease in 2016. This unit is leaking like crazy. Called Goodman. They say my unit is out of warranty because it wasnt registered in first 60 days. What? Is this a gimmick? Thought it came with a 10-year warranty. Seems like a easy way for them to get out of warranty for their products.Ive had cheap Walmart window units last longer than this piece of junk and way cheaper. I found a new a-coil for sale on internet for 500 bucks but found out it might leak when installed new. The a/c company said they would install one for 1500$. Are you kidding. This unit is out of warranty 6 months. Would have been better off paying extra for something better. Overall this will cost me much more in the long run. Goodman customer service is terrible as the guy there just kept saying to call one of their dealers. In my opinion Goodman needs to go out of business or do whats right and fix these faulty units.

First of all, Im not the type to write a review every time I experience something or go on YELP every time I go to a restaurant. Actually this is my first time ever writing a review. But this experience has really gotten under my skin. My Goodman gas furnace went out last Saturday. I am a mechanic by trade and have worked on many RV gas furnaces so of course I checked it out myself. I took the cover off of the unit and figured out in a few minutes that the problem was that the squirrel cage was in a bind. Therefore not able to spin to push hot air through the duct because the cage was laying against the shroud that the motor and cage sits in. And what had caused this was that one of the brackets supporting the motor had broken a weld. Apparently, it had been running this way for a while because the bearings in the motor were shot. So, even if the bracket was rewelded the problem wouldnt be cured because the bearings are shot making the motor shaft tilt which the cage rides on. Therefore the outcome would be the same. So I called Goodman and of course they were closed on weekends. Which is understandable. Monday I called and after getting forwarded to 3 different people I finally reached someone in the warranty department. I gave them the model and serial number and they said that the unit was under warranty because it is only 2 years old. Well, thats good I thought to myself. But, this is the kicker. I explained the problem, which is very simple I thought. But they wouldnt take my word for it. I was told that I had to call a professional that was a Goodman dealer to check it out so they {THE DEALER} could call it in and order the part. So I had to call a heating & air company and pay them a service call and labor just to tell me the same thing that I already knew. That was all done on Monday. Later that day the heating & air company called and told me that the order was placed and ordered. But I would be responsible for the shipping, which I dont agree with. I asked when I should expect the new parts. They said probably Friday. The parts were coming from Texas, which should be a 4 day delivery time, since Im in NC. Meanwhile the temperature is in the 30s cause its January. You would think that they would rush delivery the parts. Its now the following Saturday and still no parts and Im still without heat. I went and bought an electric heater but it only heats one room. Hindsight I would have been better off buying the parts online for less money but Goodman wouldnt give me the part number for the part I need. Now Ive spend $150.00 for the service call and labor and I expect the shipping to be at least $50.00. Not counting the $120.00 electric heater I had to buy. So much for WARRANTY... I am very unsatisfied with the GOODMAN products and even more with the customer service. Needless to say the next house I build will not have anything GOODMAN in it.

AC heater air handler unit - When installed my house flooded. Phoned the installer, I did everything correctly. Phoned Goodman company, was told if I can wait a month they will send someone to look at it. This is right after installation. They said he did not unplug something so it was emptying in the house - my house is carpeted, its in the kitchen/dining room, living room and passageway to the bedrooms dripping wet. He came, said it was fixed. Used it for a month, and it was not used for 2 years. Now its flooding again and its freezing up above the filter. Turned off for a week and tried again - frozen. Thawed it out and just turned it off. This unit is a piece of crap and Goodman should be closed. I had a Trane for 20 years no problem and lightning hit the compressor. So after him pressuring me to change the unit for nearly $4,000 dollars, I got ripped off. Wish I had all the information on this unit but its mislaid. Will try and locate.

I am a new homeowner who had a nice HVAC guy install a brand-new Goodman system in my home (I chose Goodman). The red plastic logo on the outside unit broke off within two months so I simply contacted Goodman to ask for a replacement (it serves their needs well to have free advertising like that) and they flat-out refused after initially telling me it was being sent. What a horrible company. I shudder to think what will happen if/when the unit itself goes out. Already regretting this purchase. Should have gone with another more reputable manufacturer. BTW, this sign is being removed entirely. Nobody needs to know I have a Goodman which is a piece of garbage based on how their corporate headquarters treated me for simply asking for a replacement logo/sign.

Our 15 year old TRANE air conditioner was ready to be replaced. I called around and read reviews and we chose NorthCentralFloridaAirConditioning. We paid about $7400.00 which I had to put on my credit card. They installed it in September 2019. To date we have had them come out to TRY and fix it at least ELEVEN times and it’s not a year old. Being elderly and in the middle of a pandemic doesn’t make it easier either. It would just stop working. After working in the yard and the heat index in the 100s is not fun coming in the house with an air conditioner not working at all.Ray- the boss and owner-and those that came out were nice and they did try to fix it. It’s not the company but the product. I hope we never ever have to buy a FRANKLIN AC ever again. We had a TRANE for 15 years and never had a problem with It until about a year before we got the FRANKLIN. Sales person assured me that FRANKLIN is better than a TRANE. We did let the manufacturer know about this and they noted this and gave us a case number. They put in a hard start kit which seems to be working for now. Manufacturer said not all units need that. Uh, why didn’t they just include this from the beginning!! This has been a true nightmare. Dena **

Last year, I bought a house that recently had a Goodman heat pump installed shortly before my purchase. Recently, I discovered the contractor had not installed the unit per Goodmans guidelines. I called them up to see if the installation was still acceptable, despite not being per their guidelines, or if I should talk to the contractor about re-doing it. I figured that if Goodman said it is acceptable, then I would drop the matter; if Goodman said it isnt acceptable, I would have more leverage in asking the work to be re-done.As a homeowner, they refused to talk to me; they said to talk to a Goodman installer. I told them my problem was with an installer, so how could I be sure that another installer would give good advice. (I am a retired HVAC engineer, so I would understand whatever technical advice they gave.) I can understand them wanting to be careful what they say, and refer many questions to an installer, since most people dont understand HVAC, but my question is a simple one, Is the installation acceptable as-is? With this kind of support, no, I will not buy a Goodman unit.

After 3 service calls it was discovered that the TVX valve was bad. Goodman offered to replace the valve but not pay the $788 dollar service call to track the problem down and fix the problem and recharge the system with 12 lbs of R410. The service department said they wouldnt cover the service call and replacement of R410 because of the faulty part caused which was to release all the R410. The system cant run without it. This was a brand new system. MAKE SURE AND CHECK WARRANTY. I would NOT recommend Goodman HVAC products.

Recently bought a home from a popular bullet in my city. Love everything about my new home BUT the furnace and air conditioner (both Goodman). Ill be honest the disappointment and disbelief that a new unit could have so much trouble in the first few years is just insane! Im on the board for my neighborhood H.O.A., and Im one of MANY that has had very very similar problems. Sure the builder cut cost by installing cheaper system in 89 homes in my area! The local heat and air company that installed it per builder has the greatest reviews all over the network and BBB! They have been very very helpful and cutting down repair cost because they feel sorry! So, in the last three years Ive had a leak on BOTH coils, then new coil came with filter dryer that also leaked in same year, and now I have a restriction in the piston that coils quite possibly be metal shaving from inner compressor! Also replaced circuit board on furnace and also in the first year the blower wheel came loose and tore up the blower motor! Goodman is a disgrace to HVAC industry! Ive seen it all over internet, fellow HVAC techs, and neighbors! Nobody but this equipment EVER. Year four this summer, I had some extra cash and changed out the full system! Bought new Trane furnace and heat pump combo!

3-ton package unit, 16 SEER - Shortly after the unit was installed, we noticed water draining on our wooden deck. The unit was not placed on our deck, but it butted up against it. This was in June that it was installed. It is Nov. 9, 2017, and it is still drenching our wooden deck when the air conditioning is on. The company has tried everything they know to do, and they have spent hours and hours and hours here with many calls, 12 different techs. The guy yesterday and another tech said the unit is a poor design. The insulation was removed and was dripping water like a pitcher of water pouring out. We have condensation on top of the unit and rusting in one corner. We have not paid any money for all the hours and things they have tried. Next they are going to lift the unit and put in a drain pan. My husband is concerned that the water is still going to be a problem, and with winter coming, we will not be using the AC until spring to see if it is fixed. Goodman has been no help. I am joining a long list of dissatisfied Goodman a/c unit customers. My wife and I purchased our home in 2012 with Goodman units installed. Almost immediately after moving into my new home one of the units experienced problems cooling one of the floors of my home. It took 5 service repair visits to uncover a defect in the unit which ultimately was repaired. Fast forward 5 years, around the time the warranty ended and we began experiencing problems with one of the other units. We were advised that the coil inside the unit had gone bad and had to be replaced. I contacted Goodman and they advised that even though it had only been a few months since my 5 year warranty expired, they would not replace the coil. Too bad, tough luck. I would implore anyone reading this to not purchase Goodman products or have them installed in newly constructed home.

This heat pump was installed when my new house was built in May 2010. In January 2011 it required piston replacement when it stopped heating the home. Then in June 2012 it required a replacement of the indoor evaporator coil when it stopped producing A/C. Then in June 2014 it required replacement of the outdoor evaporator coil when it stopped producing A/C. So in the first 4 years, it has required 3 major repairs. Sure, Goodman provides a 5-year warranty on all parts. But my most recent repair still cost over $1,000 for the labor and refrigerant. (The refrigerant is NOT included in the warranty, and that alone cost more than $600 this time.) I complained to Goodman, who told me I should have paid for the additional labor warranty as well. I suppose if you insist on buying a Goodman heat pump, then I would recommend the full labor warranty. But any person with half a brain should simply choose a heat pump from a company that is NOT widely recognized as the worst in the business (seriously, check any 3rd party review site). I will never be a Goodman customer again.

Even though the problems may all be related to his install, he wants paid for the service call plus mileage each time. His business is in Miles City, Montana, that is 75 miles from here. I think they should have to replace the heat pump because of the many times it has cycled trying to start. It should be worn out by now. The last time they put in the wrong freon. I wonder what damage it is doing to the rest of the appliances. Every time it cycles it draws current away from my well pump, refrigerator, etc.

I purchased an HVAC system in 2013, which broke before it was even 2 years old! The repairman mentioned that he had to completely refill the refrigerant because it had all leaked out. He said that it leaked out because the units factory weld joint was faulty, causing the refrigerant to leak out. He mentioned that this absolutely should not happen to a system that is this new. He mentioned that I should contact Goodman for reimbursement. I contacted customer service, who asked that I submit a letter with the serial number of the unit and a copy of the repair bill for reimbursement. I received a reply via letter, which was very obviously a canned response, telling me the same thing I was told on the phone, that the warranty does not cover refrigerant, labor, etc. Only parts. The company stated in the letter, It is impossible to predict the life of any one part. That tells me that the design, test, and quality assurance divisions are severely lacking. Goodman obviously does not care about its products or customers. Im still waiting on a return call from customer service.

From day one I have hated this LOUD condenser. I trusted my HVAC contractor, who had worked on our home for 5+ years and that was a fatal mistake. We had a York AC unit that was great but when it leaked he said he would replace it. He replaced it with a Goodman condenser and coil - I had no idea he would not be replacing it with another York system as he did not tell me he only installed Goodman units. The second it was installed it was LOUD inside our home. Amazingly enough, when I pointed it out to the installer/owner of the HVAC company he said, Does not sound loud to me. Hey, its not your house! Had the tech service guy come out from Goodman and he went through the entire condenser unit and in his report he said it was all great but it was loud inside the house but very quiet outside - so when the AC is running I would need to be outside - perfect. Pretty much my two+ months with customer service, their supervisor, the tech supervisor have been horrible and 10 years of this is just going to be a picnic. DO NOT BUY GOODMAN and do NOT ever trust your HVAC company to install anything without your permission.

So now I was told to replace the coil as that was the problem. So I had to pay for that to be replaced, as I was told the warranty was only covered 5 years. That being done, a week later it stopped working again. So this time they said I needed to change out the outside unit.I started asking question as I am now very frustrated, and did a little research. Come to find out, these should have been covered under the 10 year warranty, but we are not being told by the HVAC people to register the system. I was under the impression that they register it, as they are the ones that order them and install them. I have been doing property management for 20 years and was never told this. Also my clients have never been told this either, so I am thinking this is another way for them to make money, as we have to fork out to have these units replaced after only 6-7 years old. The HVAC companies should be held responsible for this and stop misleading the consumers, either they register the units or give the owners the option to register it.I do property management and have been using the same HVAC company for years. So all of the owners property that I take care of and have had replacement units, have never been told, nor was any of the warranty papers brought back to my company for me to register them or give to the owners. My other house - we have had that unit in for 20 years and it is still going (not a Goodman unit). I told my HVAC guy and he told me he had not registered them and that it was up to the owners to register them - how can they if they do not know. My complaint is both with Goodman Manufacturing as I am not happy with their products, and the HVAC Company and all the other HVAC companies who do not let the consumers know about the 10 year warranty. Very misleading.

We bought a Goodman GMV95 2 stage gas fired unit warm air furnace about 5-6 years ago. Supposedly top of the line and would last. Last night it stopped working and now has a burnt spot in the circuit board and gas valve is stuck (so no heat). Despite being within the 10 year warranty it is not covered by their warranty because it didnt get registered. Guy was a real ** on the phone. Warning all potential customers - AVOID this company.

Several years ago I purchased a Goodman central air conditioner through a local dealer. It was supposed to be high quality with a 10 year warranty. After several years the coil developed a very small leak and had to be replaced. I tried to get Goodman to replace it, but they told me that I did not register it correctly and essentially told me to **. After some quick research, I found out there is a class action suit against Goodman for knowingly selling coils with a defective design. Many customers have been stuck with these faulty coils. STAY AWAY FROM ANY PRODUCT GOODMAN SELLS. On the Goodman website it says IN LARGE TYPE A name you can trust. Do not believe it. I understand that any company can make design mistakes, but Goodman is a very large company that could afford to stand behind their products, but choose NOT TO. Check out the consumer reviews. On 6/7/19, my 11 year old Goodman Furnace had a near catastrophic overheating which melted the main control board and ruined the entire interior of the furnace with a putrid smelling black carbon dust. After sending photographs and a detailed report from the professional installer, who has only seen such a near fire twice in his 30 year career, I was told by Senior Management, “There is nothing we can do since you are 12 months out of warranty”!After discovering that Goodman had underreported major fire issues with other products in the past and was fined by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, I have decided that I want nothing to do with this company and their utter dismissal of my complaint and request for some assistance with a completely unreasonable $4,000 expense. This highly dangerous and unusual failure of a product without any company empathy or concern, after a vigorous outreach on my part, warrants this review and a refusal for anyone who is considering putting their lives in this company’s hands, to enrich this multi-billion dollar company any further.

During that time the house was unoccupied because it was for sale. Goodman will extend warranty from 5 years to 10 if you register within 60 days installation. Even though my situation is identical to a new home sale Goodman refused my extension two times. Their customer service is pathetically poor.

I have an Amana furnace that just had the heat exchanger fail. It was letting life threatening amounts of CO into our home. It was still under warranty. My HVAC contractor contacted the distributor who said the exchanger was no longer made but offered a replacement Goodman. I was advised by contractor to ask for an Amana because Goodman heat exchangers do not last in Propane service. I offered to pay any price difference. The distributor said he would have to call the factory and get back to me in 2 days. I advised him I was without heat at 18F. He said he would call back with an answer the next morning. Never received a call so I called back at the end of the day. He was rude and put off and told me, I guess you should have just taken the Goodman. I asked to speak with his supervisor and he refused. I have since called Goodman directly 2 times and have just been given the run around. You can only speak with a random operator who just takes some your information and you never hear back from anyone. It has been 1 week with no answers and still no heat. Thanks Goodman for a substandard product and the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

The last guy finally replaced the motherboard and it worked fine after that. Now, here we are in 2014 and the first cold spell of the winter and NO heat AGAIN!! Last year I had to spend $941. So far this year, $144. Plus last year we had to stay in a hotel for 4 nights because we couldnt get anyone to come and fix it due to the prolonged cold weather. Last year when we tried to file a warranty claim for the control board we were informed that because we didnt call them when the furnace was installed, our warranty ended after just 5 years! I live in the NW and had my old unit replaced 6-2020 with a Goodman unit. The unit ran fine but was air only we have gas heat. So that said it only ran for app. 20 day in 2020. This year as temperatures rose in late June it started running for an additional 7 day then died completely by July 16th. That means this unit actually only lasted new for 37 days of A/C service. If it was a heat pump unit delivering heat that would have likely only lasted 1 month. That cost over 2500.00 for one months usage! No one wants to work on it. Just charge over 200.00 to diagnose the compressor is junk. We are left to suit the dealer who claimed 12 year parts & service extended Warranty on our contract in writing, and buy a real A/C unit that will last.Over 30 days usage. At my last home I sold in 2017 we put in a unit in 1997 upon our purchasing the home. It was a heat pump running all summer & winter. When we sold the home it still ran flawlessly 20 years later! Goodman should cease selling such cheap, undependable garbage to unsuspecting customer by shady dealers.

With proper maintenance, a furnace should last two years or more but Goodman doesnt even have a half life. I put in the first Goodman 10 years ago. The heat exchanger failed in less than two years and the entire furnace was replaced under warranty in March 2007. I had to pay for labor. The heat exchanger has now failed again at the end of winter, rendering the furnace dangerous and unusable. Nobody local has a heat exchanger so it must be shipped from Texas. Im told to pay for shipping and labor. Despite talking to Goodman on the phone, the company didnt tell me it would be backordered nor would it airship to me despite the weather. A consumer affairs supervisor never called me back. My family will be without heat in the Northeast for about three weeks because of Goodmans failure as a quality manufacturer and one whose customer service is disrespectful, unresponsive and extremely poor. Do not ever consider a Goodman and if your HVAC company or supplier recommends Goodman - find a different company because they reflect the companies they carry.

Much review was done before purchase to make sure size was appropriate for home, etc. Never really feels like its heating or cooling properly. Numerous times per year it has required repair, run capacitor, defrost control board, blower motor, bad txv (whatever that is), bad reversing valve. Last week started making awful noise while running. Repairman said it needs new fan. And last night it started throwing the breaker at the heat pump. As I write this our house is 90 degrees (typical August in NC) and weve been without AC since yesterday. The whole blower is gone now. Ive never heard anything good about these units and anybody who buys one will likely get ripped off. Our electric bill has nearly doubled in the winters since weve had this thing and increased in the summer months also. It runs constantly but can never seem to keep up even though its the same size as the one we replaced....... which by the way was a Rheem that lasted 17 years with maybe 2 service calls the whole time.

(8-20-15) Our house had a Lennox heat pump system that came with a new house made in 2006. This Goodman unit we got installed is fabulous. Its quiet, powerful and it slowly brings up the air speed in the house and slowly reduces to almost not notice it. The outdoor 4-ton unit is quiet enough for people to carry a conversation without missing a single pronunciation...its that quiet! Please do yourself a favor and take the time to tell your installing contractor and they will come through for you like they did us. Make it personal, get to know them a little by offering some lunch (pizza and pop) like we did, and they will do a PERFECT JOB for you...providing they have the ability. Our final cost was that they took off 3% of the price (paid cash with a 401K loan) and they threw in a free HEPA whole house filtration system and half off of a forced air HVAC humidifier. I saved ~$600 + I got back $200 from Duke Energy for a qualifying energy saving system!!! Win, win, win. People, we love this unit and my wife thinks I am a superhero now. Everybody is happy and the contractors left with a full belly and a thank you. Take care of people and they will take care of you.

Model ARUF486016BA Air handler. In this blog, I am not suggesting that you have to buy the very best and most expensive air-conditioner on the market, but just beware of doing business with Goodman. All of us who have owned homes and had to incur the expense of a new heat near unit are typically replacing units that are 15 to 20 years old not 7. I bought the Goodman 4 ton heat pump in early 2008. In 2010 I had a refrigerant leak so I called my repair company and they informed me that the evaporator coil which is the main coil in the air handler was bad and had a leak. He informed me then, that this was a very common problem. He had the coil replaced under warranty which I was shocked he did not cover the labor and $500 later my AC was working.About a year ago my AC wasnt cooling so I called the company and they came in and put some Freon and it and told me once again the coil was leaking. I asked them if they could get a hold of Goodman and/or the distributor to see if they would replace the old part once again they said no. I had them charge the unit up at $150 and it bought me another year. I just priced repairing the unit and it will be approximately $1200. I figured I would call Goodman and see if they would potentially replace that product once again given the class-action suits that Ive seen on the Internet and unhappy customers all over the United States. I spoke to the first line of communications and she informed me know theres nothing we I can do and I should just replace the whole unit. My question of her was do you have $5000 to spend on a condition of your house?I spoke to a supervisor this morning and pleaded my case and she had the audacity to say the evaporator coils may not have been installed properly or theyre not in a safe environment for our products. Really! The repair company that Ive been dealing with for so many years told me they havent sold Goodman products in a few years because of the problems they had. It is very interesting that pretty much the only AC units on eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist are Goodman units. I am going to replace my unit with another brand and one thing I learned is you dont have to spend top dollar on the unit, but to do have to do your diligence and feel comfortable with the manufacturer of the product. Shame on you Goodman Corporation for peddling that junk. No wonder there are class-action suits out there.

I have a Goodman AC unit that is barely 2 years old. Back in November 2017 my coil went bad and lost all coolant. Had to wait almost 2 months for a new coil since it was on backorder. The new coil was installed in January of 2018. Roughly a month later, the float switch died and had to be replaced. A week or two later, the blower died. This also had to be replaced. It is now June of 2018 and the six months old coil is leaking AGAIN! It will cost around 800 dollars to fix AGAIN! Since both coils failed and caused the air handler to freeze up, I now have water damage in the air handler cabinet. Mold is now growing and had to be removed. The air handler cabinet will have to be replaced as well since the insulation is now damaged. With this new repair, I will be $2,000 dollars in the hole on a 2 year old system.Goodman seems like they have poor quality control for their systems and refuse to help. I called the manufacturer and they blame the installation company and to contact the distributor about any complaints. Since the parts keep failing, I would say its the manufacturers fault, not an installation company or distributor. They also have poor customer service. The person I called was Debbie. She was very rude and not helpful at all. She seemed like she didnt want to hear my complaint and not help me. She told us to call the distributor and that was it.With poor quality control and poor customer service, I would have to say this is, by far the worst company I have had to deal with and never will again. Reading all the reviews on here, I am starting to consider legal action against GOODMAN. There has to be some laws protecting consumers against such practices that GOODMAN conducts.

We got what we were told was a top of the line Goodman HVAC natural gas unit. It was installed this September (2019). All was well until it got cold and we turned on the heat. Gas smells arose from the floor heating vents. It doesnt happen all the time but there are great bursts of gas intermittently. And -- get this-- our carbon monoxide detector started beeping. We were so naive that we thought the detector was broken and replaced it. Then the new one started going off! We called the installer. They came out and could detect no leak from the outside unit. It was discovered that there was a gap where the unit had slipped off the base. They fixed that. We were hoping that meant the problem was solved. Nope. The gas smell in the vent is even stronger. Im told that means the heat convector is cracked or broken or defective. This is a brand new unit. What the hell?

I selected a Goodman 5-ton heat pump unit with a variable speed fan system
I selected a Goodman 5-ton heat pump unit with a variable speed fan system in 2011 for a large insulated shop that I own. It was installed by a licensed installer that also is a dealer for Goodman and also does commercial installations for McDonalds, Burger King, etc. 3.5 years later in 2015, the evaporator coils failed. It was a leak deep inside the coils. Pure manufacturing defect. Goodman warrantied the coils, but of course not the $800 in installation and refrigerant costs. Roll forward 3.5 more years and the evaporator coils failed again. Goodman wont replace them, even though it is CLEARLY a manufacturing defect, because replacement coils only have a 1-year warranty. Hmmm. I wonder why that is? Their warranty speaks volumes on what they think of the quality of their product. Customer support tried to help me, but their hands were tied. They did try to blame the installer and that it could have been an improper installation issue. Again, the leak is deep inside the coil array. It seems that the coils are manufactured in such a way that they are rubbing on each other inside the array. Goodman wont admit it, but they know they have an issue when they only offer a 1-year warranty on the replacement coils. That being said, Im driving into Austin today to pick up a new set of replacement coils for $700. Ill be forking over another $500+ for installation and refrigerant. If they fail again, I will happily pay whatever it takes to completely replace the Goodman. I own 7 other properties with different brand heat-pump HVAC systems. The American Standard on my home (11 years old) and the Bryant (5 years old) on a rental house have performed flawlessly. BTW, I have an Electrical Engineering degree with 33 years experience working for a manufacturing company in customer support and development. I know bad product, bad warranties, and bad customer support when I see it.

8 year unit, installed in a new house in 2013, Houston TX. 5 Ton. The coil was broken in 2017, had to replace it. This year 2021 the condenser had leaks EVERYWHERE! This was installed in a new built home. My husband passed away suddenly 2 days before the day of the closing back in 2013, and I had no time or clear head to learn about warranties. The crooked contractor never registered the unit under my name, and therefore when it broke this year I could not claim any warranty. Laws in Texas only benefit corporations but not the individuals. The manufacturers will give better price to contractors with licenses, and higher prices to home owners. If you own your house, make sure you register any device you buy under your name, specially if you are a lady, try to avoid service companies to buy devices. Most contractors (installers, distributors, repair companies) in Texas are vultures, awful rats, they will take your money and never disclose the real price they get from manufacturers. Goodman ethics sucks, same as the contractor JDS (David Sanabria) in Houston. For HVAC units save yourself aggravation and pain: Go with RHEEM, Bryant or Carrier.

Funny that less than four years later I needed warranty work and your site says it wasnt registered. That is incorrect. I have bought 5 goodman units in the last 8 or 9 years as I flip houses. This is one I put on my personal house and youre denying my warranty. Please contact me on this matter **. I will be buying more units in the future and would like to continue using goodman if and when this matter is corrected. Thank you.

All HVAC manufactures give a 5-year out of the box & home owner needs to go online for the extended 5-yr within 60 days. Im a service tech/installer, I have noticed Goodman getting better in the past 5 years. Also it depends on the installer and company.

I had a gas leak the first season (2011). I went without heat for one month as the Gas Company kept turning off my Goodman unit. Dayton Services tech came out 4 times but could find nothing. A neighbor found the leak and they came out and fixed it as I had taken a picture of the leak. Next season the Amana a/c went out and Freon put in. Skipped a season and next year the a/c went out again and capacitor and freon added. Skipped a season and same thing again--Freon and capacitor. I am 83 and didnt want to go through the heat and bought a window unit in anticipation of next breakdown in summer 2018. I called and wrote Goodman (in Houston) along with pages of documentation. No response. Mainly sarcasm. No response from Dayton. Paid $5,000 for the unit. Im supposed to have 10-year warranty and service!

Evaporator coil went bad after 3.5 years (known issue) with Goodman search the web for complaints. I have a 10 year warranty after fighting with Goodman on registering the unit for a new house. My HVAC guy files for warranty. The approval took a week then it took Goodman another week to inform as to COVID19 we are backed logged and dont know when the part will be in stock.Given the amount of people who have the same issue with Goodman one would expect Goodman to have this part in the warehouses. Sadly no warehouses have the part and what was in stock as to the known issue with summer starting those in stock were taken. I have never seen an HVAC system have this issues after 3.5 years. My parents had an Amana hvac from 1980s which was replaced in 1999 that ran with no issues which came with the house. After my 10 year warranty now 7 years left is done if I have issues I will get a Trane with spending the extra money so I do not have to worry about odd issues occurring.

I am very frustrated right now. My American Standard unit that had been working great for 17yrs finally died 3 yrs ago. It was replaced by a Goodman AC unit and heat pump. My HVAC guy said they were a good system so I trusted him. Now 3 yrs later the heat pump is not working and have to keep the gas furnace on emergency heat. I have contacted goodman with no help of a tech person to come out and check what is going on. It's still under warranty but I do not want to pay for a service call when the unit is only 3 yrs old.

I had an old furnace, but it stopped functioning during the last winter. I decided to try a Goodman furnace as recommended by one of my brothers. The GCVM96 model heats my house quick, and my gas bills have gone down by a noticeable margin. I am yet to do any repairs on this model, and I don’t expect to do any repairs soon. If I am to buy again, I will, of course, buy Goodman again although the prices are a bit high.

I closed on my home May 2014 and purchased your product Model: GSZ13421AG Serial:1403135510. This product is almost new and only 2 years old. It has been determined that it has a faulty piece. I feel as if I have no recourse and am stuck with this faulty product. The air conditioner is defectively designed and cracked resulting in it leaking refrigerant, thus making my unit entirely inoperable unless I pay 750.00 total. As a result, my electric bill has increased because while the unit was leaking, it required more power for adequate cooking. Because the leakage of the refrigerant from the evaporator coil left my unit completely ineffective, I am forced to pay 750.00 in total repairs to address the problem fully which will take 2 weeks.Worse, today I had to pay 79.00 for a leak search out of my pocket to determine why your product is not functioning as promised by your company. I had to pay 75.00 for the visit and 190.00 for refrigerant. Worse, I have to pay 425.00 in labor next week to have your item repaired, the bill is at 750.00 plus at this point. I am outraged. This is ridiculous. Im told that it is tough and I should pay or my house will be hot.

I had this unit installed on Jan. 2015 DURING cool months. Right away I noticed it wasnt blowing cooled air at all. My tech told me that it was due to it being cooled outside. Then I asked him to turn on the heater and that wasnt blowing enough heat. So months later and many calls to the tech, my unit is still giving me issues! I set the temperature and the a.c. Never gets to that set temperature. The thermostat was changed 4 times all together. Ive installed new duct work as recommended by my tech. I HAVE TOLD HIM A MILLION TIMES ITS THIS DAMN UNIT! Now I have so much moisture in the house it feels gross in here. The humidity is unbearable! I constantly find puddles of water next to my air vents. The unit is on all day and night. Barely shuts off trying to reach its set temp of 73. My electric bill is absolutely insane! Im noticing MOLD GROWING! WTF? Goodman right away tell you to have someone come out to make a report... Okay, THEN WHAT?! Before I know a year has passed and this CRAP IS STILL HERE! Please stay away from this God awful product! Its absolute **! Goodman GPH1342H41 Goodman 13-Seer Package Heat Pump 3.5 Ton. Google the Reviews! A lot of people are complaining about the same thing! Man up and put out a recall on the Model!

25 years with only one service call. Wow. Of course, at 9 seer, we need a better system now. The newest HVAC units are rated 50% higher, so its just a matter of time for us. Which new system is best?

I purchased my Goodman furnace and (so called 10 year warranty) through a contractor that was working for the builder who was building my addition. I never received the warranty registration form from the contractor that was suppose to be returned to Goodman within 60 days. I had a fan replaced within the first year that worked its way loose filling my house with smoke with no questions asked. Eight years later the same fan has bearing problems requiring another fan costing $640.73. Goodman now tells me it is no longer under warranty because the registration was never filed. Consumer Affairs could tell me when (the contractor) purchased the unit but they couldnt warranty it. The moral of this review is Goodman cant sell the unit to the consumer but they expect you to register it if your supplied with all necessary information from your blue collared installer. Im told that a fan problem is not a common problem in HVAC units but very costly. Theres much better quality than Goodman manufacturing.

I was sold this Goodman Air Conditioner by Four Seasons heating & Air in Port Charlotte, FL. I have only had two years of use and after it wasnt blowing cold air I called 4 Seasons and in five minutes of inspection was told the compressor had blown out. They told me that despite the poor service of this unit, only parts were covered and they would charge $800 for the labor to reinstall these defective parts. I am 80 years old, live in Florida and will have had no air conditioning in 90% heat for at least three days. This product was defective. I have been a homeowner for 50 years and have never had less than five years wear from any air conditioner. Goodman needs to be investigated.

Weve bought our system just over 5 years. Went away on vacation to come home to 87 degrees in our home. The HVAC people came out and said that it was the compressor, and our unit wasnt registered. (GO FIGURE). So I proceeded to call about our warranty. I was told that the unit wasnt registered (which it was) and they will not replace the compressor. I got 3 prices on replacing the unit and all 3 were well over $1500. I wish now that I would have come to this page and seen all these negative reviews!!! Trust me. If you are thinking of buying this POS please re-think it...
