Goodman Heat Pump Model GSZC16

Split GSZC16

The Goodman Split GSZC16 Heat Pump is a high-efficiency heat pump system designed to provide both heating and cooling capabilities for residential or light commercial applications. Here are some key features and information about the Goodman Split GSZC16 Heat Pump:

High-Efficiency Performance: The GSZC16 Heat Pump is known for its energy efficiency. It features a two-stage compressor that adjusts its speed based on the heating or cooling demands, providing precise temperature control and maximizing energy savings. The heat pump typically achieves a high SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating for cooling efficiency and an HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) rating for heating efficiency.

Two-Stage Operation: The GSZC16 Heat Pump offers two-stage heating and cooling, allowing for more precise temperature control and improved comfort. The heat pump can operate at a lower capacity for milder conditions and switch to full capacity during extreme temperatures, ensuring efficient operation and consistent comfort levels.

Quiet Operation: The GSZC16 Heat Pump is designed for quiet operation, thanks to its two-stage compressor and advanced sound-dampening technology. The heat pump operates at lower speeds most of the time, resulting in reduced noise levels compared to traditional single-stage systems.

ComfortBridge Technology: The ComfortBridge technology is integrated into the GSZC16 Heat Pump. This technology allows the heat pump to communicate and coordinate with other components of the HVAC system, such as thermostats and air handlers. It optimizes performance, enhances efficiency, and provides advanced diagnostics for easier troubleshooting.

Smart Thermostat Compatibility: The GSZC16 Heat Pump is compatible with smart thermostats, enabling remote control and programming capabilities. Smart thermostats allow you to adjust settings, create schedules, and monitor energy usage from your smartphone or other connected devices.

Environmentally Friendly Refrigerant: The GSZC16 Heat Pump utilizes environmentally friendly R-410A refrigerant, which has a lower impact on the ozone layer compared to older refrigerants.

Limited Warranty: Goodman typically offers a limited warranty on their heat pumps, including the GSZC16 model. The warranty coverage may vary depending on the specific terms and conditions set by Goodman. It is important to review the warranty documentation to understand the coverage and duration of the warranty.

As with any HVAC system, proper installation, regular maintenance, and adherence to manufacturer guidelines are essential to ensure optimal performance and longevity. It is recommended to consult with HVAC professionals or authorized Goodman dealers for specific details, pricing, and installation requirements for the Goodman Split GSZC16 Heat Pump.

First of all, Im not the type to write a review every time I experience something or go on YELP every time I go to a restaurant. Actually this is my first time ever writing a review. But this experience has really gotten under my skin. My Goodman gas furnace went out last Saturday. I am a mechanic by trade and have worked on many RV gas furnaces so of course I checked it out myself. I took the cover off of the unit and figured out in a few minutes that the problem was that the squirrel cage was in a bind. Therefore not able to spin to push hot air through the duct because the cage was laying against the shroud that the motor and cage sits in. And what had caused this was that one of the brackets supporting the motor had broken a weld. Apparently, it had been running this way for a while because the bearings in the motor were shot. So, even if the bracket was rewelded the problem wouldnt be cured because the bearings are shot making the motor shaft tilt which the cage rides on. Therefore the outcome would be the same. So I called Goodman and of course they were closed on weekends. Which is understandable. Monday I called and after getting forwarded to 3 different people I finally reached someone in the warranty department. I gave them the model and serial number and they said that the unit was under warranty because it is only 2 years old. Well, thats good I thought to myself. But, this is the kicker. I explained the problem, which is very simple I thought. But they wouldnt take my word for it. I was told that I had to call a professional that was a Goodman dealer to check it out so they {THE DEALER} could call it in and order the part. So I had to call a heating & air company and pay them a service call and labor just to tell me the same thing that I already knew. That was all done on Monday. Later that day the heating & air company called and told me that the order was placed and ordered. But I would be responsible for the shipping, which I dont agree with. I asked when I should expect the new parts. They said probably Friday. The parts were coming from Texas, which should be a 4 day delivery time, since Im in NC. Meanwhile the temperature is in the 30s cause its January. You would think that they would rush delivery the parts. Its now the following Saturday and still no parts and Im still without heat. I went and bought an electric heater but it only heats one room. Hindsight I would have been better off buying the parts online for less money but Goodman wouldnt give me the part number for the part I need. Now Ive spend $150.00 for the service call and labor and I expect the shipping to be at least $50.00. Not counting the $120.00 electric heater I had to buy. So much for WARRANTY... I am very unsatisfied with the GOODMAN products and even more with the customer service. Needless to say the next house I build will not have anything GOODMAN in it.

I am not happy with the Goodman A/C that was purchased in December 2009 and was installed on December 26, 2009. I have had nothing but problems with the unit and I purchased the 10 - 10 - 10 year warranty on the unit. Even though you have the warranty, the refrigerant is not covered and you are responsible for adding it - also you have to pay the service calls to get the unit checked. On 6-22-2010 the compressor went out and a new one was installed. On 8-9-11 the blower motor went out and was replaced. On 6-3-2014 the evaporator coil had to be replaced. On 2-23-15 the condenser coil was leaking and has to be replaced - found out to get a new condenser coil would be 7-14 days, because there was not one in the state of Florida. I would not recommend the purchase of a Goodman Unit of any kind. Our a/c company Star Air Conditioning & Heating in Kissimmee, Florida has been excellent and have done everything they can to be of service.

I had an old furnace, but it stopped functioning during the last winter. I decided to try a Goodman furnace as recommended by one of my brothers. The GCVM96 model heats my house quick, and my gas bills have gone down by a noticeable margin. I am yet to do any repairs on this model, and I don’t expect to do any repairs soon. If I am to buy again, I will, of course, buy Goodman again although the prices are a bit high.

We purchased a complete Goodman system from our HVAC company just a little over 5 years ago. It has already had a total system failure twice. The first time, the part had to be ordered and took about a week to get. This time, the blower has failed, and has to be replaced. The expected time is 2 weeks with no system. I cant believe at only 5 years, 2 major components fail. We live in a metro area of over 1,000,000 people, I dont know why parts are not readily available? That must be a sign of the volume of sales they have. In our opinion, these are very very low quality. No decent system would have 2 complete system failures at 5 years. And to think that a blower motor would fail at 5 years is a clear sign of the poor quality workmanship.

Purchased a Goodman heat pump and air handler 09/09/08. I called Goodman and verbally gave them the serial numbers of both units and I also sent in the warranty card as well. 2013 unit started leaking freon so I had it topped off and the unit ran fine. 2015 leaks got worse so I called Goodman and they stated I sent in the warranty card 05/15/09? Data input error perhaps or did this happen when they cut over to a new system? Found out they did put in a new system but dont know when.Spoke to a male CSR rude and abrasive refused to let me talk to a supervisor but finally caved in. Spoke to Hema and she stated they had the serial # for the heat pump but no air handler so no warranty on the handler. Told her I called and mailed in the warranty card then was told they do the data input and then the cards are thrown away. My word against theirs? I thought the customers was always right? So much for that theory! I have called several times after that, no return calls. Theres a surprise! Although Hema was helpful but still no warranty.I like the unit and have very little problems with it until the leak, and now the warranty. What is the point of having a warranty and then not to honor it? So now they think I will get stuck with the bill... wrong! Got things to do and people to speak to about the warranty issue. This is just bad P/R on their behalf and I am sorry they are taking that stand. Will I buy another Goodman unit? Maybe not because of this warranty issue.

I am a licensed HVAC/R contractor who has been in the field for 30+ years who installs all makes and models. These last two years selling Goodman products has been very very stressful. In particular the build quality is super cheap and flimsy and their quality control is extremely poor. Ive installed 30 gas furnaces in the last year and 10 of them all had wiring issues such as Molex plugs with uncrimped connections. The wires were not even stripped back and also the female spade terminals were poorly attached causing me to waste my time to fix their poorly assembled units. The last straw was I installed a brand new 80000 BTU 92% furnace for a very good customer of mine and it hasnt worked right since it had been installed. Now mind you this is not any fault of installation but fault of Goodman instead. The gas valve was dead on arrival so I thought, Ah. No big deal. Ill just go ahead and replace the gas valve. Things happen, I thought to my self. Well, in goes the new gas valve still not operating so then Im looking at a new replacement circuit board and now Im furious and the customers not too happy either. So go the new board installed. Didnt fix the issue either. Now Im fighting with customer service who is useless by the way and unwilling to help me resolve the issues. The customer service manager was dodging my phone calls and wouldnt return any of my calls. I didnt want an unhappy customer and wanted them to have heat so I removed that pile of junk and put in a New York furnace. Fired up beautifully. No problems and now the customers happy. But Ill tell you Im happy that the customers happy but Im not happy with Goodman. Please whoever reads this refuse Goodman products. They suck. They dont care about you or me and they are not cheap to buy either. Do yourself a favor and buy a quality brand and not this cheaply made trash. It made me look bad to the customer installing a brand new unit that should have had zero problems but ended up hurting me financially as I had to buy the customer a new furnace because they wouldnt help or even refund me for this defective unit. Hopefully they go out of business selling shoddy equipment to us honest hardworking Americans like us. I will never recommend or sell Goodman ever again and will spread the word. Have a blessed day.

Brand new system has had problems from the start. Multiple repairs have been attempted to remedy an unacceptable noise. Still sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle, which everyone agrees is unacceptable, but nobody can diagnose or fix. Further, the unit leaks a rusty fluid into the pan, and there is condensation/corrosion in the supply plenum which the installer said should never leak.

We got what we were told was a top of the line Goodman HVAC natural gas unit. It was installed this September (2019). All was well until it got cold and we turned on the heat. Gas smells arose from the floor heating vents. It doesnt happen all the time but there are great bursts of gas intermittently. And -- get this-- our carbon monoxide detector started beeping. We were so naive that we thought the detector was broken and replaced it. Then the new one started going off! We called the installer. They came out and could detect no leak from the outside unit. It was discovered that there was a gap where the unit had slipped off the base. They fixed that. We were hoping that meant the problem was solved. Nope. The gas smell in the vent is even stronger. Im told that means the heat convector is cracked or broken or defective. This is a brand new unit. What the hell?

I had a 95% AFUE GMH95 gas furnace installed in June of 2009. Furnace carries a 10 year parts warranty. In 2015 the inducer pump melted and caught fire. I had the Installation company come out to see this. Was told there was too much damage to replace parts and cables burned. Would need to be replaced. I filed a claim with customer assurance and continually hounded them for the status of this claim. A month later with temperatures now below freezing a representative from distributor and the installer came out to see damage which I already had sent picture to Goodman. Was told I would be notified next Monday. Another week goes by. No word. E-mailed customer assurance rep. for my case and received out of office reply with a phone number to call for assistance. I basically got the run around. A week later I tried again and also left voicemail. I finally called Goodman consumer affairs and spoke with a live person. After explaining the situation and the fact that my representative is not responding for over a month now I was then transferred to the same customer assurance rep. and listened to the same OGM telling me to call consumer affairs. Yes, a complete circle. It seems they just want to avoid this issue. So I called again and got a different live person who said Hold on I need to check something and was immediately disconnected. Now I feel I should let others know about the worst customer service experience that I have ever been through. So much for the 10 year warranty.

I closed on my home May 2014 and purchased your product Model: GSZ13421AG Serial:1403135510. This product is almost new and only 2 years old. It has been determined that it has a faulty piece. I feel as if I have no recourse and am stuck with this faulty product. The air conditioner is defectively designed and cracked resulting in it leaking refrigerant, thus making my unit entirely inoperable unless I pay 750.00 total. As a result, my electric bill has increased because while the unit was leaking, it required more power for adequate cooking. Because the leakage of the refrigerant from the evaporator coil left my unit completely ineffective, I am forced to pay 750.00 in total repairs to address the problem fully which will take 2 weeks.Worse, today I had to pay 79.00 for a leak search out of my pocket to determine why your product is not functioning as promised by your company. I had to pay 75.00 for the visit and 190.00 for refrigerant. Worse, I have to pay 425.00 in labor next week to have your item repaired, the bill is at 750.00 plus at this point. I am outraged. This is ridiculous. Im told that it is tough and I should pay or my house will be hot.

I bought a Goodman heat pump model GsZ160361bd, serial no 1903096018 brand new and had it installed by a “license technician“. The unit broke in less than 18 months and required repairs that cost me approximately $1600 in labor. The part were covered by the manufacturer. But no customer should have to spend that much money on a heat pump that was purchased new. I believe Goodman Manufacturing has junk heat pumps and I recommend anyone looking to buy a new unit to look at the other manufacturer. Also make sure it is a sister brand name to Goodman. The customer support is of no use to the customer who purchased their product. All you get is scripted reply to call a license contract to fix their junk product! At your own cost! This is a real experience. Do not buy!

I purchased a Goodman heat pump GPH1360H41BC (sn: 1208655671) in 2012 from a local dealer by my AC tech. It worked ok at first except for low freon. This year I began having problems. First a capacitor, then the fan motor. A month later I was told the coil had a leak and tech replaced 5 lbs freon at $30/lb plus labor. I was quoted 11 lbs of freon at $30/lb plus 3 hrs labor for a total of about $900 for a new coil. Coil was under warranty but labor and freon isnt. Those are the biggest cost on the problem. Why should we have to pay for freon that escaped as a result of a faulty coil?A week later the new coil arrived and will be installed tomorrow. Now I find out there are many problems with Goodman products. I am a widow on social security and cannot afford costly repair bills. My tech tells me they do not install these anymore. Im also afraid that my son who purchased one a year or so ago will also start having problems. Made in China products are no good. Please stop selling these.

Had a Goodman GSZ14 Heat Pump and Air Handler system installed in my house. The units ran trouble free for about four years. Last week the house lights would randomly flicker, yesterday the Heat Pump stopped working. The repairman found that a wiring bundle was ty-wrapped to a coolant line and the vibration of the system wore through the wire insulation and shorted out on the coolant line and arced a hole in that line causing the coolant to escape and shut down the unit. The wire was on a high voltage circuit so every time it shorted out, our house lights would flicker.

I built a new house in 2012-2013. 3 separate Daikin commercial grade split units were installed. The house was completed in August of 2013 when I moved in. I noticed, in February of 2014 the unit wasnt heating the rooms on 1 of the units zones. I called the installer and spent over $900 to fix it, the company refilled the freon which was empty and left. 6 months later in August, units not working again. Long story short second repair company after two three to four visits finally identify the problem with a Daikin tech rep to be the condenser coil in the outdoor unit and evaporator coil in one of the handling units. Ive spent now $2500 to identify the problem. Daikin will not cover parts citing 1 year warranty on all but compressor for a unit that didnt even have normal residential wear and tear. Parts are $1500. I am completely dissatisfied with the lack of quality and desire to stand behind the product they manufacture here in the States for Daikin. I will never recommend or purchase another product from this company.

In July of 2012 I purchased a Goodman System for my Condominium in Ossining New York. I was a little skeptical because I had never heard of Goodman but was assured it was made by Amana and was a good, reliable brand and somewhat less expensive than the name brands. I was told by the company that installed it that it had a good warranty... 10 years in fact so not to worry. I had routine maintenance done on schedule and in April of 2018 began having trouble with the A.C. Serviceman repaired and recommended a new thermostat system which I had done. Three months later the system failed again. Noticed some ice buildup on copper pipes around unit and some water on the floor. Serviceman replaced filter and cleaned outside condenser. One month later FAILED again and now told by repair service the condenser coil is no good. He said, Dont worry. Its covered under warranty... Until three hours later when Goodman told him the unit was not registered and they would not honor the warranty. Now I have the bill of sale with all documents and serial numbers yet they are telling me that I had to send in the postcard to have it registered. Its a damn 7000 unit... Like a car. I said... You dont send in postcards for cars do you? I went round and round with Goodman NON CUSTOMER SERVICE and decided to try to reach a supervisor. THEY KEPT TELLING ME THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. Well I called the corporate office and asked to be connected to the CEO a Mr. Ebisus secretary. Lo and behold I was connected to a woman named K.D. ** (Write that down folks. K.D. ** is the secretary to the CEO.) I started to explain my issue and she was trying to put me back in touch with customer service... But I convinced her to listen to the whole story (the same complaints that many of you have mentioned in these reviews) after a good 10 minutes she assured me that the head of Consumer Complaints a Mr. Preston ** would be working on my case and that she was sure he would help in the matter. She even went so far as to tell me that she was instructing him to get back to me within 2 hours with a resolution. Well... he called back and was ABSOLUTELY NO HELP AT ALL. In fact he said to me... You were never supposed to get put through to Ms. ** office. I was and I intend to make sure that both of their names are out in public so that people will know who they are and how little they care about customer service.Tomorrow, I am having a new unit installed at a discount price from TRANE which is a REAL COMPANY that backs its products. My service company was so mad at Goodman that they are eating the labor cost to install the new system. They discounted the price by 2600 DOLLARS and a 4500 price tag is now down to under 1700 which is less than the part that Goodman wanted to send me. STAY AWAY FROM GOODMAN... Tell your friends to stay away from Goodman and if anyone has a class action suit going count me in. Please call Ms. ** and Mr. ** and give them.

There is a 10-year warranty on it and they will not fix it, its been two years waiting.

When this unit Goodman heat pump model GPH144841AC was about one year old it developed a major leak causing all the refrigerant to escape. It cost $500 to have someone repair the faulty factory solder joint and recharge it. Since I installed the unit myself Goodman will not honor any warranty. It is a self contained unit that I did not even open up so there was no way I could have damaged the inside of the unit. About two years later the main power relay failed and I had to replace it. This past Spring, 2017, I found it low on refrigerant and I added about 3 pounds and it worked correctly up until a few days ago even cycling off during some 28 degree weather (so it had refrigerant then). Yesterday I noticed it was running on emergency heat and checked it this morning. Not a pound of pressure. Apparently the small leak became a big leak. Again since it is a self contained unit it must be a factory fault. Im hoping it is something that can be easily fixed, but Im going to start saving for a replacement and it sure will not be a Goodman unit. They are junk.

Reasonable price for a good quality and energy efficient unit that works great! I was leery when the a/c people recommended Goodman as I was not familiar with the brand. However I decided to give it a try as they highly recommended it and being they live on the same street as I do I figured they would probably steer me in the right direction. Am glad I went with it. The unit is quiet and a strong workhorse that cools and heats the house in minutes. Our electric bill went down and we are very pleased with the results. Good warranty on the compressor for 10 years.

With proper maintenance, a furnace should last two years or more but Goodman doesnt even have a half life. I put in the first Goodman 10 years ago. The heat exchanger failed in less than two years and the entire furnace was replaced under warranty in March 2007. I had to pay for labor. The heat exchanger has now failed again at the end of winter, rendering the furnace dangerous and unusable. Nobody local has a heat exchanger so it must be shipped from Texas. Im told to pay for shipping and labor. Despite talking to Goodman on the phone, the company didnt tell me it would be backordered nor would it airship to me despite the weather. A consumer affairs supervisor never called me back. My family will be without heat in the Northeast for about three weeks because of Goodmans failure as a quality manufacturer and one whose customer service is disrespectful, unresponsive and extremely poor. Do not ever consider a Goodman and if your HVAC company or supplier recommends Goodman - find a different company because they reflect the companies they carry.

We purchased (2) 25 Ton Daikin HVAC Units. Goodman Distributors in Philadelphia sold them to our contractor / we bought them from the contractor. Both units arrived on July 11, 2017. 1 of the units worked for a few days. It is now over 40 days and still no sign of getting replacement parts for the unit. The management at Goodman Distributors is absolutely horrible. I cannot express how angry I am at the lack of customer service & no care or desire to fix the unit. Goodman is a company owned by Daikin (manufacturer). They actually told me its the contractors problem - not theirs. Daikin built the unit / Goodman sold the unit - they then wash their hands off it - let me be clear - it work for only a few DAYS! $15,000 for 1 unit. I was instructed to call Customer Care - again - said too bad nothing they can do - call the contractor. This company and the mother company are Dirty People. I made the mistake of agreeing to purchase Daikin units. Be careful if you decide to go with a Goodman Brand - they do not stand behind their equipment. In the event of a bad part (this happens) they will make your life miserable. What they should do is say we are sorry - we will get this resolved immediately. 40+ days and counting - you be the judge!

Model ARUF486016BA Air handler. In this blog, I am not suggesting that you have to buy the very best and most expensive air-conditioner on the market, but just beware of doing business with Goodman. All of us who have owned homes and had to incur the expense of a new heat near unit are typically replacing units that are 15 to 20 years old not 7. I bought the Goodman 4 ton heat pump in early 2008. In 2010 I had a refrigerant leak so I called my repair company and they informed me that the evaporator coil which is the main coil in the air handler was bad and had a leak. He informed me then, that this was a very common problem. He had the coil replaced under warranty which I was shocked he did not cover the labor and $500 later my AC was working.About a year ago my AC wasnt cooling so I called the company and they came in and put some Freon and it and told me once again the coil was leaking. I asked them if they could get a hold of Goodman and/or the distributor to see if they would replace the old part once again they said no. I had them charge the unit up at $150 and it bought me another year. I just priced repairing the unit and it will be approximately $1200. I figured I would call Goodman and see if they would potentially replace that product once again given the class-action suits that Ive seen on the Internet and unhappy customers all over the United States. I spoke to the first line of communications and she informed me know theres nothing we I can do and I should just replace the whole unit. My question of her was do you have $5000 to spend on a condition of your house?I spoke to a supervisor this morning and pleaded my case and she had the audacity to say the evaporator coils may not have been installed properly or theyre not in a safe environment for our products. Really! The repair company that Ive been dealing with for so many years told me they havent sold Goodman products in a few years because of the problems they had. It is very interesting that pretty much the only AC units on eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist are Goodman units. I am going to replace my unit with another brand and one thing I learned is you dont have to spend top dollar on the unit, but to do have to do your diligence and feel comfortable with the manufacturer of the product. Shame on you Goodman Corporation for peddling that junk. No wonder there are class-action suits out there.

Two years ago, I purchased a new Goodman HVAC system for my 1450 sq ft condo. Installation was neat and clean, and complete within five days. First summer I didn’t suffer from the heat and humidity. Never did I have to touch controls, just set the thermostat at my desired temperature and it would turn on and off without my help. Same in winter. I purchased the service maintenance plan, so every change of season company comes and checks out equipment, changes filter and makes sure I’m ready to go. I know Trane is the best, but also cost the most. I’m happy and price was right.

After having a Goodman furnace installed in my home 7 years ago, I recently had to spend $1000 on repairs. The main blower wheel began to make noise and was found to have cracked welds where the fins attach to the end plate. While the Tech was there he noticed the Combustion Blower was also noisy and dragging. He thought it might last a little longer, but I elected to replace it then as well. Since the furnace was just out of warranty, the cost for the two parts was almost $800. I have seen other complaints regarding Goodman Furnaces and must agree, they are substandard. The initial cost was low, and the unit seems to be efficient, but long term durability is poor. I have heard others say Goodmans are fine for a home you dont intend to keep. Ditto That!

We had this furnace less than 6 years in our new home, this was installed by the builder, and gas valve failed to work within this short period. After contacting their customer service we were told we are out of warranty. This company has a trap set for registering the unit within 60 days of installation to get full 10 years warranty. We were not told by the builder of this trap as Goodman and the builders are all lobbying to sell cheap stuff and keeping the customer uninformed of this conditions in small writings. I am sure many new homeowners may not be aware of this condition which is deliberately set to trick the customer, so the Goodman can wash off their hands of any failed part.Their customer service is lousy and have no consideration whatsoever for exceptional cases. They say only original homeowner will get 10 years warranty, means if the ownership changes, the warranty is over. This is really a joke & trap. How in the world the functioning of Goodman furnace part impact the performance whether Mr. X owns the house or Mr.Y, as far as both does the same maintenance and care and keep record of it as well. I was pretty sure Goodman is a big name in the industry, but this company is worse in the customer service even with a corner grocery store, who still respect their client. Never buy again from Goodman who cannot stand behind their products.

Purchased a Goodman furnace in January 2010 from a building supply company in Steinbach which is about 20 mins out of Winnipeg. I liked the fact that Goodman was offering a 10 year warranty on the parts and 10 year full replacement. We have had nothing but issues with the unit every winter and always seems to be the same issues - a circuit board, sensors, condensation build up and the motor. I had their Goodman account manager in my home last year after I said I wanted the unit out of our house, was told he was going speak to his superior to make sure I was satisfied Toronto and get back to me, that never happened. I never write reviews about products but the word needs to get out that the furnace is not reliable. If you live in area which only requires your furnace periodically then maybe its fine but not in a Canadian climate.

I purchased a heat pump in 11/2011 and then started to have a lot of problems in 2015. It was noisy running also. Then on 5/15 was my 1st service call and they found a hole in the coil which leaked freon. Had to be repaired and added freon. Then 4/2016 it stopped working completely. Another service call and they had to replace the compressor and defrost control unit. At least they were under warranty, but I had to pay for service call and freon. Thats not cheap either. On July 8 warm air came thru vents. Serviceman had to add more freon and changed the schraders. More money. This lasted a week and back to warm air again. Another call another hole in coil and more freon. This lasted a month so now its Aug. 2016 and Im sitting here in my house with temp of 95 and outside temp of 98. I have so much money out for service calls and freon, that Ive decided that I am going to have to buy a new heat pump when this one isnt even 5 yrs. old. But with all the money going for repairs, I could have put in a new one. I trusted the dealer for the quality of Goodman products, but since all these troubles Ive read all the unsatisfactory notations and Im adding to it. In fact the customer service girl at Goodman hung up on me when I told her I would never recommend this company to anyone. Hows that for rude employees!! I would like to get some of my money back if its possible. I wrote to Goodman asking for this, but I doubt if I will because they dont care. They dont even make my model anymore, so it must have been bad to begin with. I hope other people read the reviews about Goodman before they purchase anything and dont buy from them. The evaporator coil has already started leaking and is being replaced as I write this review. $625 to replace the coil and $75 handling fee from parts warehouse. I called Goodman (877-254-4729) and they denied problems with their units and did not offer any compensation. Then I got on this website and read the reviews and got even more depressed. I am a new homeowner who had a nice HVAC guy install a brand-new Goodman system in my home (I chose Goodman). The red plastic logo on the outside unit broke off within two months so I simply contacted Goodman to ask for a replacement (it serves their needs well to have free advertising like that) and they flat-out refused after initially telling me it was being sent. What a horrible company. I shudder to think what will happen if/when the unit itself goes out. Already regretting this purchase. Should have gone with another more reputable manufacturer. BTW, this sign is being removed entirely. I have a Goodman heat pump that was installed in Dec 2009. It started leaking freon last year. Just 2 pounds. This year it started freezing up. Guess what? Needs more freon and r22 is high. Just found out r22 production will cease in 2016. This unit is leaking like crazy. Called Goodman. They say my unit is out of warranty because it wasnt registered in first 60 days. What? Is this a gimmick? Thought it came with a 10-year warranty. Seems like a easy way for them to get out of warranty for their products.Ive had cheap Walmart window units last longer than this piece of junk and way cheaper. I found a new a-coil for sale on internet for 500 bucks but found out it might leak when installed new. The a/c company said they would install one for 1500$. Are you kidding. This unit is out of warranty 6 months. Would have been better off paying extra for something better. Overall this will cost me much more in the long run. Goodman customer service is terrible as the guy there just kept saying to call one of their dealers. In my opinion Goodman needs to go out of business or do whats right and fix these faulty units.

I selected a Goodman 5-ton heat pump unit with a variable speed fan system
I selected a Goodman 5-ton heat pump unit with a variable speed fan system in 2011 for a large insulated shop that I own. It was installed by a licensed installer that also is a dealer for Goodman and also does commercial installations for McDonalds, Burger King, etc. 3.5 years later in 2015, the evaporator coils failed. It was a leak deep inside the coils. Pure manufacturing defect. Goodman warrantied the coils, but of course not the $800 in installation and refrigerant costs. Roll forward 3.5 more years and the evaporator coils failed again. Goodman wont replace them, even though it is CLEARLY a manufacturing defect, because replacement coils only have a 1-year warranty. Hmmm. I wonder why that is? Their warranty speaks volumes on what they think of the quality of their product. Customer support tried to help me, but their hands were tied. They did try to blame the installer and that it could have been an improper installation issue. Again, the leak is deep inside the coil array. It seems that the coils are manufactured in such a way that they are rubbing on each other inside the array. Goodman wont admit it, but they know they have an issue when they only offer a 1-year warranty on the replacement coils. That being said, Im driving into Austin today to pick up a new set of replacement coils for $700. Ill be forking over another $500+ for installation and refrigerant. If they fail again, I will happily pay whatever it takes to completely replace the Goodman. I own 7 other properties with different brand heat-pump HVAC systems. The American Standard on my home (11 years old) and the Bryant (5 years old) on a rental house have performed flawlessly. BTW, I have an Electrical Engineering degree with 33 years experience working for a manufacturing company in customer support and development. I know bad product, bad warranties, and bad customer support when I see it.

AC heater air handler unit - When installed my house flooded. Phoned the installer, I did everything correctly. Phoned Goodman company, was told if I can wait a month they will send someone to look at it. This is right after installation. They said he did not unplug something so it was emptying in the house - my house is carpeted, its in the kitchen/dining room, living room and passageway to the bedrooms dripping wet. He came, said it was fixed. Used it for a month, and it was not used for 2 years. Now its flooding again and its freezing up above the filter. Turned off for a week and tried again - frozen. Thawed it out and just turned it off. This unit is a piece of crap and Goodman should be closed. I had a Trane for 20 years no problem and lightning hit the compressor. A brand new Goodman/Amana A/C was installed in my home in 2011. The condenser coil leaked and had to be replaced in 2012. In 2014, coil leaked; it was patched and freon recharged. In 2015, freon leaked, was now attributed to the evaporator coil. In the four years since the new unit was installed, I have spent over $1000 for labor replacing BOTH coils and freon recharges. Basically, the product is a piece of junk and major parts need to be replaced - not anyone expects of a new equipment. Is there collusion between the manufacturer and the A/C service provider: one sells product that should be pulled from the market, the other recommend the product and makes money by labor charges?

Brought a unit from Goodman on 3/7/17. Installed the unit for my customer on 3/9/17. On 3/11/17 they had to evacuate from their home because of the smell because the heat exchanger is bad. Also the children got sick and the parents got headaches and had them for 3 days. Goodman said they couldnt give us a new heater and the homeowner no longer wants this furnace in their home. They do not want no tech from Goodman at their home. They want to be reimbursed. The Manager Michael ** was the most unsympathetic person I dealt with in my life. Instead of just reimbursing the homeowner he is making it difficult for them. He wants us to pay a tech from Goodman to deem it bad when we purchase the unit not even a week ago. I will never recommend Goodman to any of my customers and homeowners and I have been doing heating for over 25 years and I know what I am talking about. Do not purchase a heater from Goodman. They didnt care about children getting sick and they had the homeowners without heat for 5 days and will not reimburse them with their money. We purchased a new home in 2010 that came with a 4 ton Goodman and we have had nothing but problems with the Goodman. The first year alone the condenser went out, costing us out of pocket for labor due to only the part being covered... not to mention having to add Freon twice a year due to leaks that cant be found!!! Our fan motor, compressor x2, and regular motor have all been replaced costing more than the unit itself!!! I am now waiting on the repair guy AGAIN due to my home going from a comfortable 72 degrees to satans kitchen (95). Someone has to be held accountable for the poor workmanship on these units... Very displeased with my AC unit!!!

Our 15 year old TRANE air conditioner was ready to be replaced. I called around and read reviews and we chose NorthCentralFloridaAirConditioning. We paid about $7400.00 which I had to put on my credit card. They installed it in September 2019. To date we have had them come out to TRY and fix it at least ELEVEN times and it’s not a year old. Being elderly and in the middle of a pandemic doesn’t make it easier either. It would just stop working. After working in the yard and the heat index in the 100s is not fun coming in the house with an air conditioner not working at all.Ray- the boss and owner-and those that came out were nice and they did try to fix it. It’s not the company but the product. I hope we never ever have to buy a FRANKLIN AC ever again. We had a TRANE for 15 years and never had a problem with It until about a year before we got the FRANKLIN. Sales person assured me that FRANKLIN is better than a TRANE. We did let the manufacturer know about this and they noted this and gave us a case number. They put in a hard start kit which seems to be working for now. Manufacturer said not all units need that. Uh, why didn’t they just include this from the beginning!! This has been a true nightmare. Dena **

I purchased both a Goodman Central AC Unit and a Goodman Furnace in 2013. I had become disabled around that time and this was my last big purchase. I had hoped that in buying 2 new units that I wouldnt have problems with them and that theyd be reliable for years to come. That was not the case. When I went to start up the AC at the beginning of the 2nd year, it wasnt working. The repairman had to replace the coil. Now, going into the 5th year, my furnace is not working. The repairman came out and said it needed a part that had to be ordered. He said the error code on the panel read: Low fire pressure switch open. Since it was Friday afternoon when the repairman came out, the part wouldnt be delivered until late Monday (or early Tuesday) and so therefore Tuesday would be the earliest it could be repaired. This left me without heat for almost 6 days in 30-degree weather with snow on the ground. Its freezing in this house. I have severe arthritis and nerve damage which is worse in the cold. Ive had to increase my pain medication and Im stuck sitting under a heated blanket.I made this purchase because I didnt want to have to worry about my old system breaking down while I was out of work with limited funds and as it turned out, my 20-year-old system was more reliable. Im really disgusted with this company. Both their AC units and furnaces are junk. I spent thousands thinking I was making a good investment for my home and its one of the worst purchases Ive ever made.

Due to an internal wiring defect within the outside heat pump unit I got hit with a repair bill of just under $400. This was a manufacturer defect. Representatives of Goodman Manufacturing informed me that wiring defects are not covered under their warranty. The unit is within the initial warranty period which began on date of installation. Let this be a warning to anyone contemplating a Goodman Manufacturing product. They do not properly stand by their work. Beware.

Our house had a Lennox heat pump system that came with a new house made in 2006. It nearly broke me financially with repairs and the straw broke when my family was on the cold side during last winter. I called Recker and Boerger this year and they gave us a bid on a brand-new GOODMAN 16 SEER 4-ton unit armed with a scroll compressor, matching variable air handler, 5-year parts and labor warranty on the entire unit, 10-year parts after the 5 years is up, and a LIFETIME scroll compressor replacement guarantee in the event that the compressor fails for any reason--providing it stays at the same house it was installed in. I explained in great detail to the R&B salesman that my family had been through hell with winter and repair costs and we really needed some good service.

I purchased a Goodman unit after doing a lot of research. I am so sorry I spent 6000.00 on this unit. This is the worse purchase of my entire life. I have had 13 services calls replacing coil, motor, condenser and now the compressor. Consumer Affairs are absolutely NO help and frankly they dont give a damn. So it leaves me nothing else but to hire a lawyer and call channel 8 to get some satisfaction. Goodman consumer affairs does not care nor offer to help. I have never received such crappy customer service. Their attitude is too bad so sad. I am a widow living on Social Security and cant afford a new unit. I asked about the lemon law and they thought I was nuts. I requested a New unit and will not even talk about it. I am very disappointed in this piece of garbage. How can you sell people such shabby workmanship? So as I sit in my home in Florida for the 5th night at 10:35 PM it is 88 degrees in my house. It goes as high as 99 degrees and the unit is still NOT fixed and nothing in site. Oh they offered to replace Condenser 10 year warranty BUT I have to pay for installation, parts, and Freon. WHICH IS THOUSANDS money I do NOT have.

I live in the NW and had my old unit replaced 6-2020 with a Goodman unit. The unit ran fine but was air only we have gas heat. So that said it only ran for app. 20 day in 2020. This year as temperatures rose in late June it started running for an additional 7 day then died completely by July 16th. That means this unit actually only lasted new for 37 days of A/C service. If it was a heat pump unit delivering heat that would have likely only lasted 1 month. That cost over 2500.00 for one months usage! No one wants to work on it. Just charge over 200.00 to diagnose the compressor is junk. We are left to suit the dealer who claimed 12 year parts & service extended Warranty on our contract in writing, and buy a real A/C unit that will last.Over 30 days usage. At my last home I sold in 2017 we put in a unit in 1997 upon our purchasing the home. It was a heat pump running all summer & winter. When we sold the home it still ran flawlessly 20 years later! Goodman should cease selling such cheap, undependable garbage to unsuspecting customer by shady dealers.

I purchased a Goodman ductless mini split heat pump. It was installed by a professional installer. The compressor stopped working after about 5 years and 2 months. Assuming the unit had a 10 year warranty, I contacted the company. Upon doing so, the customer seemed to enjoy telling me that the unit only had a 5 year warranty. I then attempted to contact a company to repair the unit, and found it difficult to find a company that worked on the Goodman brand. I was advised that Goodman was not a good unit and it would be less expensive to replace it with a Mitsubishi unit, which I intend to do. I will never do business with Goodman again.

We purchased a Goodman HVAC 3-ton GSZ130361BC in April 2012. In June 2014 we paid for 3 pounds of coolant. On July 12, 2014, one more pound of coolant was added. They found the evaporator coil was leaking. On July 17, 2014, a new coil was installed. It required two men to remove it, so we had to pay $400 extra. One year later, July 26, 2015, the system has shut down. It appears to be an electrical problem this time. Our 3-yr-old system has already cost us $954 in repairs (not counting todays pending repair). We definitely would not recommend this product.

After several years the coil developed a very small leak and had to be replaced. I tried to get Goodman to replace it, but they told me that I did not register it correctly and essentially told me to **. After some quick research, I found out there is a class action suit against Goodman for knowingly selling coils with a defective design. Many customers have been stuck with these faulty coils. STAY AWAY FROM ANY PRODUCT GOODMAN SELLS. On the Goodman website it says IN LARGE TYPE A name you can trust. Do not believe it. I understand that any company can make design mistakes, but Goodman is a very large company that could afford to stand behind their products, but choose NOT TO. Check out the consumer reviews. I explained in great detail to the R&B salesman that my family had been through hell with winter and repair costs and we really needed some good service. This Goodman unit we got installed is fabulous. Its quiet, powerful and it slowly brings up the air speed in the house and slowly reduces to almost not notice it. The outdoor 4-ton unit is quiet enough for people to carry a conversation without missing a single pronunciation...its that quiet! Please do yourself a favor and take the time to tell your installing contractor and they will come through for you like they did us. Make it personal, get to know them a little by offering some lunch (pizza and pop) like we did, and they will do a PERFECT JOB for you...providing they have the ability. Our final cost was that they took off 3% of the price (paid cash with a 401K loan) and they threw in a free HEPA whole house filtration system and half off of a forced air HVAC humidifier. I saved ~$600 + I got back $200 from Duke Energy for a qualifying energy saving system!!! Win, win, win. People, we love this unit and my wife thinks I am a superhero now. Everybody is happy and the contractors left with a full belly and a thank you. Take care of people and they will take care of you.

We had a Goodman 3 Ton Unit replaced on 7/21/2015. It cooled all of about 1/2 day. Since it was installed in July during heatwave (94 for more than a week) we thought it was taking house time to cool and the air out of the vent felt marginally cooler than air temp., But we were delusional. The unit was blowing warm air. The installer came on 4 occasions. 1st time to remove Freon, 2nd time and third time diagnose system, 4th install indoor thermostat. Nothing. The unit blows cold air when the sun is down and as soon as the sun comes up fails and blows hot air. Miserable unit. Had a second HVAC person look at unit. Diagnosis, Condenser. To that I say, REALLY it’s not even installed a month??? My house is 80 +, I should not have to live in the heat with a brand new unit sitting outside my house. Today we are suppose to have our installer back to replace the condenser. If this does have the system up and running 24/7, my instructions are for him to remove the unit and install another brand more reputable such as Carrier, York, Trane. I did in depth research to find Goodmans are nothing but a ton of junk that really needs to be pulled off the market. Waste of everyones time and dollars. Furious.

First Unit: Would not heat without kicking on strips. Thirteen service calls and 4 years later, it was finally addressed. Second Unit: 2nd year, capacitor failed. 3rd year, same capacitor failed. 4th year, outside unit fan failed. Had a couple of other smaller issues, too. Also purchased 10 year parts/labor warranty with Goodman. Apparently not. Even though I have an invoice that states what I purchased, Goodman will not recognize the labor warranty. Made many calls to get the issue addressed and they would not listen. I can understand one or two problems, but not many significant problems, continually on two separate new units. We keep temp 78 in summer and 68 in winter, so not an overworked system. From day one I have hated this LOUD condenser. I trusted my HVAC contractor, who had worked on our home for 5+ years and that was a fatal mistake. We had a York AC unit that was great but when it leaked he said he would replace it. He replaced it with a Goodman condenser and coil - I had no idea he would not be replacing it with another York system as he did not tell me he only installed Goodman units. The second it was installed it was LOUD inside our home. Amazingly enough, when I pointed it out to the installer/owner of the HVAC company he said, Does not sound loud to me. Hey, its not your house! Had the tech service guy come out from Goodman and he went through the entire condenser unit and in his report he said it was all great but it was loud inside the house but very quiet outside - so when the AC is running I would need to be outside - perfect. Pretty much my two+ months with customer service, their supervisor, the tech supervisor have been horrible and 10 years of this is just going to be a picnic. DO NOT BUY GOODMAN and do NOT ever trust your HVAC company to install anything without your permission.

Last year, I bought a house that recently had a Goodman heat pump installed shortly before my purchase. Recently, I discovered the contractor had not installed the unit per Goodmans guidelines. I called them up to see if the installation was still acceptable, despite not being per their guidelines, or if I should talk to the contractor about re-doing it. I figured that if Goodman said it is acceptable, then I would drop the matter; if Goodman said it isnt acceptable, I would have more leverage in asking the work to be re-done.As a homeowner, they refused to talk to me; they said to talk to a Goodman installer. I told them my problem was with an installer, so how could I be sure that another installer would give good advice. (I am a retired HVAC engineer, so I would understand whatever technical advice they gave.) I can understand them wanting to be careful what they say, and refer many questions to an installer, since most people dont understand HVAC, but my question is a simple one, Is the installation acceptable as-is? With this kind of support, no, I will not buy a Goodman unit.

Replaced under warranty and same install cost. I had to use John as he had purchased the unit and could only do the warranty. Never again will I fall into this trap. The outside unit has now cost me $4500. I could have replaced the whole system with a reliable system for that expense, which I have to do now in 2018.So after just shy of 4 years a 4 ton a/c and heating outside unit needed service and Freon added two times (2016 and 2017). The tech I called out today showed me oil leaking from the condenser too. The freon was gone. At least with a whole new unit I will switch from R22 to R14 freon. So no more C & J Repairs and Services Inc to service my AC and never again a Goodman AC unit.

We have 2 three-yr-old air conditioning systems. On 8/23, one unit stopped working. We called for service hoping to get the system up & running without paying a lot of money & since the unit is still fairly new, we prayed that parts would still be covered under the manufacture. No such luck. We were told that we had to replace an E-Z trap, $177.00, a Safety T, $199.00. We were charged for a tune up $155.00, a diagnostic fee $99.00, an Indoor Coil (still covered under warranty) but with labor & other charges, it cost $809.00, a Coolant R-410A $69.00. The other system made an extremely loud noise while running so we had them to check that system as well and were told it needed a condenser fan motor, $209.00. We moved into our new home on 4/15/10. I cant image why so many problems would be happening to these systems so soon. When I reached out to Goodman to make them aware of what was going on, of course I was asked if we had an extended warranty (wish we had been told about that early on). Their only suggestion was to have the company making repairs to contact distributor for Goodman so that a field tech specialist can come out with company making repairs and make an assessment to see whats going on with the system. I am very upset that we had to spend so much money on these systems so soon and I hope Goodman will stand behind their reputation.

My new Goodman heat pump lasted almost a year before losing the freon. Multiple repairs failed. Goodman will not honor the warranty, and I dont want to hassle with legal issues. Looking for a new unit after only 2 years. I will not purchase Goodman products again.

Evaporator coil went bad after 3.5 years (known issue) with Goodman search the web for complaints. I have a 10 year warranty after fighting with Goodman on registering the unit for a new house. My HVAC guy files for warranty. The approval took a week then it took Goodman another week to inform as to COVID19 we are backed logged and dont know when the part will be in stock.Given the amount of people who have the same issue with Goodman one would expect Goodman to have this part in the warehouses. Sadly no warehouses have the part and what was in stock as to the known issue with summer starting those in stock were taken. I have never seen an HVAC system have this issues after 3.5 years. My parents had an Amana hvac from 1980s which was replaced in 1999 that ran with no issues which came with the house. After my 10 year warranty now 7 years left is done if I have issues I will get a Trane with spending the extra money so I do not have to worry about odd issues occurring.
