36 gas range dilemma
Posted On: August 24, 2023

I have a 12 year old, 36" gas/electric range from Ikea/Whirlpool (YIDC865VM) that has given up the ghost. Our kitchen cabinets and granite counters were built to accommodate this range. Here are my challenges:.

We are a big family, so the 36" unit has come in very handy. 30" models are probably fine, but will leave a 3" gaps on either side, looking dumb, so I seem bound to buy another 36" unit.

I am having trouble finding similar 36" units in this ($2k) price range.

It seems that the granite gap width is actually about 35 3/4", making me worry that a different brand 36" unit would not fit, requiring me to have the difference professionally trimmed off of the granite (sounds messy, and expensive).

Any suggestions?

Question from user Wise_Owl_1 at Appliances at reddit.com.

Answer:

Thor, Frigidaire pro (but that might be a lot actually) think that's about it. Smeg is pretty cheap in Canada now but still like $3500.
