In 2006, I purchased all new Amana products, $1500 French Door Refrigerator AFD2535DEB bought 5yr extended warranty now another 3yr warranty. What a joke! I have lost over $800 in food and no one will fix it. The freezer works but the refrigerator in warm. Takes over two weeks to get a repair man to the house and when he gets there, its working again. Then they want to charge you for a service call because they couldnt get there when it wasnt working! Do not buy Amana! Same thing happened with the range. It was only 4 years old. Paid $900. They wanted to charge me $500 for the computer board, really! Come on Amana wake up! Washer/dryer and dishwasher are junk as well. Nothing but a money pit. Never again will I purchase from them.

Washer and dryer were in the house when I purchased the house and they were new. But I have 2 issues with the washer. It does not have a liquid fabric softener dispenser and the bleach dispenser has spotted some of my dark clothing. The washer washes small to extra large loads also delicate. But it appears not to empty fully so I no longer use it. On the other hand, the dryer works well and has many selections for air to time setting to auto dry.

I bought an Amana dishwasher model ADB1500AWW3 in early 2011 from Home Depot. I had originally chosen another brand, but the sales clerk told me that the Amana would last longer than the one I had chosen. What she did not tell me was that the control panel would not last one year. A couple of cycles, it stopped working early on, but being I didnt use those much I thought I would see what happened. Then it stopped working altogether. I called Home Depot and was told that being it was over one year they could not do anything about it. I will never waste my money on Amana products again.

I purchased a brand new Amana 3.5 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer with Dual Action Agitator (model NTW4516FW2) in July 2018 from Home Depot. The product has completely stopped working after just over 2.5 years of normal usage in a small household of 2 people. According to the repair representative, the controller has stopped working and needs to be replaced at a cost of more than $500 which would be more than the price paid. The product lasted less than a quarter of the expected lifespan of 12 years. A call to the company that owns Amana (Whirlpool) provided no reprieve such as a discount on a replacement purchase or credit towards other Whirlpool products.

If you must buy an Amana product, get an extended warranty and keep extending it for as long as you can. Unlike the folks who make these Amana products, the Assurant Solutions service protection people are a standup group. Its clear from just a little research that this product (Amana ACS3350AS) had design and manufacturing flaws from the start, including oven and broiler igniters that dont last more than a couple of years. Unsafe overheating of exterior oven surfaces. A poorly placed computer control unit that overheats with the rest of the oven. Since they stopped making the computer, less than six years after we purchased the thing, its dead. Amana argues that the California state obligation that parts be made for seven years does not apply in this case. They consider it seven years from the date of manufacture and not purchase or it seems like they are saying we didnt buy it when we bought it. Run from these people if you have a choice. The warranty company (Assurant) is paying $720.00 for the oven we spent $1,000.00 in 2006. I believe I spent $200.00 on extended warranty until 2014. No money on five repair visits. You do the math. Please keep in mind this is the same corporation that owns Whirlpool, Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Consul, Brastemp, Bauknecht and Gladiator. Collecting brands, not customers. Consider the service youll get.

I was coming down the stairs to get my son a bottle at 6:00 AM and heard a strange noise. As I walked into the living room, it was filled with a foul smelling smoke. I yelled and woke up my father who came running down the stairs. My father unplugged the fridge from the wall and put the fire out. Our slate flooring is burnt, and my son and I had mild smoke inhalation. It has been over a month and we are waiting for parts to cover the repair or they will give us $200 for a new fridge. Our fridge was older but, just like most everyone else, it was the compressor that failed. I think Amana needs to recall their refrigerators and come up with a new design.

Warning. This fridge stopped working after 2.5 years with no warranty after 1 year and thrown out. Before this past weekend, I would have rated this appliance high. We bought this fridge for my mother-in-law who is in her mid 90s. It was the perfect size and worked well without any issues whatsoever....until it just stopped working without notice of any kind suggesting there was a problem. We called for warranty and was directed to Whirlpool for service. Apparently model # ART318FFDW wears numerous different brands including Amana, Maytag, Kenmore, IKEA and more. They advised the appliance only came with a 1-year warranty. So we called an independent service guy to service it only to be told that this is a common problem with this model and it would cost over $700 to repair it (they retail in Canada between $7-800 new), advising it was not worth repairing because there was a risk of it occurring again. He provided a report (see photo for screen shot) and suggested we call the manufacturer back as they will be aware of this problem and there may even be a recall. We did just that and they denied any knowledge of problems with this model and there were no recalls issued. And because we did not buy the additional warranty, there was no recourse. I could appreciate having to pay to fix our fridge, since there was no additional warranty, but I was certainly not expecting a 2.5 year old fridge to be unfixable. That the parts would cost as much as replacing the fridge is unacceptable. To make matters worse, Whirlpool offered us an apology with a loyalty REBATE of 15% if we purchased a replacement of any model within the Whirlpool brands, even off a discounted price. Though we were not going to purchase the same model, we thought this was at least some form of recourse and reluctantly purchased another fridge. When I filed for the claim with the code they emailed me, the code was rejected saying Code was already redeemed. I had just got the code a day earlier as this was an emergency replacement purchase, and the code was not working. I reached out to Whirlpool by replying to their email which was a no response email address. I then sent a message through their contact form and many days later still no response. If I dont receive one by the end of the week Im going through the pain of returning it and replacing it with a different brand.Long story short, I dont recommend this model nor do I recommend the Whirlpool brand because of the poor response to a lemon of a purchase.

I purchased an Amana Side by Side (24.9 cubic inch) in March 2017... In Dec., I noticed 2 visible cracks on both sides of the shut where ice falls to be dispensed from the freezer to outside. Also the cheap plastic on shelves & drawers has cracked. My husband & I are both in our 60s & are not rough on our appliances. The refrigerator gets opened maybe 4 times a day. A repairman came out to look & stated we were under warranty, however WHIRLPOOL refuses to fix the inside of freezer door... said its cosmetic. NO, ITS NOT. Even the repairman said it was defective from the factory & will continue to only get worse. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER THING FROM THEM.

An Amana furnace and air conditioner were purchased in Dec 2013 after my 21 year old furnace died. The Amana furnace first broke down and stopped cycling Feb 2014. The air conditioner first broke down and blew warm air in June 2015. Since the first breakdowns the air conditioner broke again in June 2015, it was making a leaking sound. Air conditioner broke again in June 2016, blowing warm air. Furnace broke twice Jan 2017, no heat. Air conditioner broke again May 2017, blowing warm air. Furnace broke again Jan 2018. And lastly, the air conditioner broke again July 2019 and I am currently waiting for a new evaporator coil. Evaporator coils are not covered under warranty so nearly $800 out of pocket. Wish I had more time in Dec 2013 to research furnace and air conditioners but when it is 20 below zero outside all I wanted at the time was heat!

In December of 2003, I purchased a drop-in Amana range model #ACS4250. The oven recently abruptly stopped heating. The repairman informs me that the part needed to repair the oven (electronic control #77001240) has been discontinued.Who does that? Who discontinues parts? I called Amana and they helped me immensely. They connected me with the sales department. As if I would be fool enough to buy another product from a company who discontinues a small part that is vital to the operation of one of their major appliances in order to force a customer to replace that appliance. I dont think so.I am an 81-year-old woman who takes extraordinary care of my appliances. This range looks as though it should be on the showroom floor and now it’s junk. The only help I got from Amana was an offer to sell me a new range or a suggestion to call around and try to find someone else who might have that part lying around.By the way, I spent most of the afternoon on the telephone doing exactly that – all to no avail. That part cannot be found. Amana should be ashamed. One of the persons I talked to actually had the nerve to tell me that I needed to understand that this is The wave of the future. This is technology.I hung up.My new range will be anything but an Amana – Maytag, Whirlpool – or anything connected to them. They are a disgrace.

We purchased a basic model Amana refrigerator A9RXNMFWB01 in June 2010, delivered in July 2010. The refrigerator was making a lot of noise the past few months. We didnt realize the fan was not working properly. When the fan quit, the food was still frozen in the top freezer. But the refrigerator compartment would not go below 50 degrees. I called for the Amana technician. A & E couldnt make it over until the following week, so we called a local repairman. $182 later, new fan, the refrigerator is fixed. Its only 15 months old! Our old Amana is still running since 1997. We have never had troubles with a refrigerator in our 35 years of buying appliances. Now I see on reviews of compressors going bad. Appliances are not made well and we will be lucky to get 8 years out of this Amana with cheap parts. There go our landfills. What can we buy that wont cost hundreds to fix? We have never had to buy extended warranty. This is a money maker for Amana (Maytag, Whirlpool). It’s a lesson learned. I’m very dissatisfied. I feel we deserve to be compensated for this breakdown, especially since it acted up during the 1st year of warranty. We shall see if Amana can make it right.

After moving in to a new home and seeing a brand new stove installed, I was excited to get cooking. I noticed that the stove grates were bent from the middle (the grates are long and the front burner and back burner are connected on the same grate). I didnt think this would be an issue because maybe the pans/pots I use would be heavy enough to compress the grates down. I was wrong to think that and the pots/pans will slide when put on the grates because of how they are angled. I have spilled a full pan of oil (luckily not heated to a dangerous temp yet) when the pan was placed squarely in the middle of the burner and it just slid forward and off the stove top.Amana was called to try and get replacements for the brand new appliance but they told us that the bend in the grates is on purpose and they will not be fixing the danger their appliance puts us in. I now can only use the back burners (one of which is very small) or I run the risk of hurting myself with hot falling pots and pans. They are confident this is normal and are fine with the dangers. Do not buy from Amana as they will sell you a dangerous product.

Amana Refrigerator, Not Good After 6 Years: We purchased an Amana bottom freezer refrigerator, model#ABB2227DES, serial#10253964EP at Sears approximately 6 years ago. We have had numerous issues with the refrigerator starting just after the 12-month warranty ran out. At one point, I paid $300 for an extended warranty. I had to have more repairs on it and was told by several technicians that the compressor would be going and it won’t be worth paying for the repair (roughly 50% of the $1300 that we paid for the fridge). At this point, including the purchase and repairs of the refrigerator, we are over the $2000 mark. Again, the fridge just died and we have been told that the compressor is gone and it would not be worth it to fix unless Whirlpool agrees to pay the repairs. I would like Whirlpool to pay for the repairs of this refrigerator or provide a comparable refrigerator, or I will contact my own attorney in regard to this.

Bought my Amana top-loading washer in April 2014. Most of my laundry isnt deeply soiled, so didnt think much of it for a while. However, becoming more obvious now that my clothes are not getting clean enough. I garden and have a dog, so sometimes get socks soiled and dirt on clothes when dog jumps up. My whites are not white and the soiled areas dont come out. I had my previous Whirlpool washer over 20 years and didnt have this problem. Have checked the manual to be sure Im using right detergent and loading the washer correctly, but hasnt solved the problem. I liked the price, capacity, and no-frills model of the washer I bought, but not happy with the cleaning results. Dont want to have to buy another one, and always thought Amana was a reliable brand, but I personally could not recommend to others.

This means that I have two choices, I can either find a way to transport my broken washer to an approved service provider at my own expense, or I can pay a local repairman and be reimbursed up to $150.00 in about 6 weeks. These are my options?!! My washer is brand new, why should I have to pay when its still under warranty? I have no way to transport my washer! Its huge. I would have to rent a truck twice to drop it off and pick it up. My only option is to pay for the repair and wait over a month to be reimbursed. I asked them why they would only repay me $150.00 if repairs cost more than that, but I was only told that it shouldnt cost over that amount. So now I have to go a family members house to wash school clothes for my daughters and decide which utility bill can wait so I can fix my NEW washing machine. My advice, dont buy Amana, they will not stand by their warranty unless its convenient for them. I will never buy from them again.

My husband and I bought a brand new Amana front load washer in May of 2009.
My husband and I bought a brand new Amana front load washer in May of 2009. Last week, March 5, 2011, it broke. It began buzzing. When I went to check it, the washer has an “ND” code and it would not open. The first girl I spoke with was Samantha. She told me that she couldnt find that code in her computer (on the net is says it means no drain, most likely true), but she told me how to get the washer to unlocked. Eventually, it did work. My washer still had dirty water and soap in it. I handled the soapy mess and later washed my clothing at my in-law’s house. When I called back to talk to them about why my washer wouldnt work and what they could do to help me, I was told nothing. I spoke to a manager and was told the same thing. The only thing they were willing to do was give me a warranty plus one. Meaning, that I get this repair fixed and one-year warranty on the piece of junk in my basement. My washer wont be 3 till May. There is no reason for it to be broken. I also did my own research and many people have complained about the same problem. I feel that this washer should be recalled or at least the company should fix it at no cost to the consumer. This seems to be an on-going problem with this model. We bought thinking this we were buying from a good company. Now, Im stuck with a scrap pile till I get the repair guy to come out, thanks to a warranty that I have to pay for out of pocket.

In 2007, I purchased an electric ceramic top slide in range model acs4250-aw. It was installed in a vacation home and used four to eight weeks per year and is still in pristene condition. In July 2011, the ERC timer panel short circuited and burned, rendering the unit nonfunctional. We have made extensive inquiries through the internet and through other sources by phone and have failed to find a replacement panel which we come to find is no longer available. After talking to Whirlpool Corporate Office, as a last resort, we were advised unceremoniously and without the least attempt to appreciate our dilemma that the part was no longer available, and that they had no process to mount a search for this part and that there was nothing they could do to help. So, we had purchased a $1800.00 plus range bearing the AMANA name which is now useless except to hang towels on. We will never buy a product from the Whirlpool group of companies again.

We bought an Amana refrigerator #ABD2533DEB in Dec 2004. We have had it for 7 years. Its just 2 adults in our house, so the fridge is like new. We just paid $95 to find out the compressor is shot. The cost to repair will be $800, $300 for the compressor and $500 labor. We were told that the compressor that failed had been made in China and that there have been many issues with these compressors! We were assured that all new after market compressors are now made in Korea with far fewer issues. We lost everything in the freezer and most of the fresh food in the fridge. Amana & Maytag need to do a much better job standing behind their products! Based on what Ive read, we will never buy another Amana! We will also advise any friend looking to buy a new appliance.

I purchased this Amana washer in March 23, 2015. In February 27, 2016, this problem occurred: I turn on the washer, but as soon as the wash fill ups with water, it does not move to wash and it does not lock to start the wash cycle. The water drains and then I have to start the wash all over again. So I thought it was the lid switch, and my solution was to push down on the lid hard enough until I heard a click sound. This worked for several months. Another problem occurred on August 12, 2016: my load would complete the cycle, but when I open the lid, I clearly see that the clothes are soaked so this means that during the drain/spin cycle, the speed was too slow to fully squeeze out all of the water from the clothes. So my next solution was to start the drain/spin cycle only, but again. With all these problems that keep coming up, we decided to use our warranty, so we called in to have the washer repaired. We called HHGregg to repair the washer, and we gave all the detailed information as to the problems and the possible fixes to it. Their representatives solution was to replace the washer because they deemed the necessary repairs to the washer as costing more than the value of the washer. Well, we were shocked, because this washer is only 18 months old, so how could its value decrease so quickly in under 2 years? I researched and found that the drain/spin and lid switch is a very common problem with Amana washers. So we understood that we got what we paid for. So back to the washer replacement with HHGregg. They shipped us a new washer for around the same price of our old purchase.Again, we purchased the first washer in March (we got a St. Patricks Day Sale Price), and now were getting this new washer that is smaller and still is an Amana. HHGregg refuses to repair it, they would rather give us a washer that is smaller in capacity and would most likely last for a year but no more than 2 yrs. In a nutshell, we were screwed over by HHGregg, because they saved on repair costs, and gave us a washer of lesser value than what we originally started with. Oh ya, we had to pay on taxes, obviously, so they profited from that too. AMANA WASHERS ARE TERRIBLE!!! Save your money and purchase a more reliable washer!!!

I was the lucky one chosen by a bad quality control department to miss the 30-day requirement for defects. They call it a cosmetic issue. My new side-by-side stainless steel refrigerator (matching the range) has a clearly unaligned door, unaligned according to manufacturer specifications. From the top view it looks like the seals are off... One is wider in spots. However they are stating to me that it is a cosmetic issue beyond the 30-day window. And I DO HAVE PHOTOS. For AMANA to not consider this issue for what it is has been unbelievable to me. They wont replace the door... Nothing. Am I mad? I no longer consider them to be a respectable company. They would rather I have it as it is with bad quality control, using a 30-day extreme rule. So I lose.

I have wanted a 2-stage HP for years so when our 22yo 10SEER AC was nearing EOL, we jumped at the opportunity for a high-performance unit. My expectations have been exceeded: We love the dehumidification feature, the ECM air handler is able to reach the furthest corners of our house, I have to go outside to check if the condenser is running sometimes even though the unit is right outside our kitchen window, and the heat pump uses ~1kW less electricity while in the 2nd stage than our old unit. ComfortNet/Bridge took some learning but if you have patience and like to read then you'll be tuning your system in no time. Honestly, I ended up going back to many of the defaults because the whole setup is already quite efficient. We recently had a few <50F mornings so I have also been able to test the heat in action and am now looking forward to a cold winter to really stretch the system's legs!

In 2002 bought Amana Distinctions top load washer and electric dryer. They worked great for 11 years with zero problems. The dryer still works. The washer died because when I started hearing a strange noise a couple of weeks ago, I didnt do anything about it and kept using the machine. Then during a load it started smoking. Turned out a bearing or gear or something went bad and the belt got out of alignment and running like this killed the transmission. I really wish I had called the repair person when I first heard the noise because the repair is too expensive to justify. I have really loved the no frills controls, stainless steel wash tub, and extra-large capacity. So disappointed. :(

For the past 6 months Ive had to empty and defrost the coils at least 5 times! After replacing the coil (which was checked for continuity and failed), I still have issues! So who knows how many other parts are needed to fix the issue. Amana has basically said, Too bad, youre on your own, after condescendingly explaining how to care for my freezer!! Its only the second freezer Ive ever owned, the last one having served me well for more than 15 years, but that wasnt a garbage Amana product!!

I have Amana Washer in my apartment. When I first used it I noticed my clothes werent clean so I did some research to make sure I was using the right detergent. I was using the right detergent. No water ever entered the washer. It only sprinkled the clothes with water. I had to rewash the clothes by hand to get them clean. This has gone on over a year. Management claim that they called a licensed Amana dealer. I took pictures and sent them to Amana and to the apartment managers. The apartment managers have even came out and have been aware of the machine not working. We had an outage in December and the machine now makes a terrible noise. So the guy that cleans the yard came and unplugged it. After a year of not working properly and never being fixed and now they want me to replace machine that was already damaged. The guy that works here claims he cant remember it not working. This guy stood there and actually lied. If you look at the pictures there is very little water. You have to have water to wash clothes. My wife and I bought this Amana washing machine & dryer as a set from Best Buy in Green Bay, Wisconsin, little over two years ago as a Christmas present from me & Linda, to myself & Linda. Just last week (2/9/2016), the wife was doing some laundry. When she closed the door it wouldnt lock, so the machine couldnt start its washing cycle. She asked me to come down. I looked at it, unplugged it, and waited a few minutes, thinking that it would reset itself. I plugged it back in and had the same issue. I turned the dial and there was a huge light, followed by the tell-tale noise of electrical components arching. Then there was a flash of light (from the back of the control panel, followed by a cute little mushroom cloud). I called Best Buy and informed them of what had happened. They said that there wasnt much they could do then transferred me to the customer service manager. She gave me the customer service number to Amana. Upon calling them, I had the feeling like I was bothering them (cold shoulder routine). Like the other complainant stated, Amana has been around for years, figured it was a solid, dependable product. Obviously, it isnt - quantity, not any quality anymore!!! After what seemed like an hour had passed, I finally hung up. Totally disgusted & frustrated with my experience. We both feel like we have been duped. My advice, DO NOT BUY ANY AMANA PRODUCT WHATSOEVER!!! Thanks Amana for nothing. I will not recommend your product to ANYONE!!! Pull your heads out of your **!!! Two Amana compressors defective! No, we did not have the extended warranty but how often does a fridge die? Not after 1.4 years! Hello my roommate bought a used Amana washer because the other Amana washer didnt work. She paid 200 for it... And found out it didnt spin. So she spent 100.00 more. Then the door would not close for it to turn out. She arranged for another certified Amana repair guy to come... He traded the door with other broken machine. The door closed and it turned on. He did not stick around long enough to hear the spin cycle sounding like a helicopter... And still delivered your clothes on the wet side and not very well washed. So 450.00 later we still have a broken Amana washing machine and the repair man said he fixed the door problem and it would cost more for him to look at any other problem. Its heavy but if I can I will throw it in the trash... Or put it online for salvage. Expensive lesson. Never buy another Amana after the first one broke down? But no one asked me...

We bought an Amana oven from Home Depot in July 2010. We did not purchase the extended warranty package. You would think when you buy an appliance that you would get, at least, five plus years out of it. Well, in September 2011, our oven stopped working. We had the gas company come to check out the gas that we smelled. He said that the fire ignition is no good. So, we are two months past the warranty and this oven needs to be repaired. Needless to say, we are not happy and the gas representative said that he would never get an Amana oven. The consequences are that we have to pay someone to fix this and it will probably cost about $250. Does Amana make these to break down on purpose after the warranty period ends? Seems like an incredible coincidence to me. We may just get a new oven at this point and it will not be an Amana. When you purchase an item like this, you should have the confidence that it will give you a decent amount of time and 14 months is not acceptable.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH AMANA AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM!!! I have owned Amana central air conditioning systems in a number of homes, and always thought they were of the highest quality. In fact, I installed a central system at our summer beach house, which operated reliably and without any problems whatsoever in a high salt-air, highly corrosive environment, and it served us well for more than a decade. As a result, when we were building our new house in 2009-10, I specified five Amana systems for our 7500 square foot home. WHAT A MISTAKE! This summer, we have learned that three of the five evaporator coils are leaking, and further learned that the HVAC subcontractor NEVER REGISTERED the warranty with Amana. Simple fix, right? Just call the Customer Service department and explain the problem. No... the Amana organization has totally ignored us, in what may be the poster child for horrible customer service. They have stonewalled us, and have not replied to phone calls and emails. Their local distributor has refused to give us the name of their local rep in an effort to find someone who cares about our problem. No help, no solution. I have to fix the problem and pay for what should have been warranted repairs out of my own pocket, because the cost of the service calls coupled of an electricity bill that has skyrocketed while trying to get help from Amana has me with no choice but to fix it myself. If you buy an Amana air conditioning system and need factory support, forget it. You are on your own, and they will not stand by their products!!!

I had my washer for barely over 2 years before it started to unbalance. Now less than 2.5 yes after purchase I have to replace it. According to the Amana repair representative for my area I needed a new balance ring and new suspension. He said the balance ring would cost over 200 dollars, but my research show the average cost being 40 dollars. However, with the price of labor the total repairs would be a minimum of 170 dollars on a machine that only cost 300. I realize this was a bargain appliance but we never overloaded it and it should have lasted longer than 2.5 years. The short life expectancy of modern appliances is ludicrous. This is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. We bought it in May of 2014 and to my dismay found that it did not fill on the rinse cycle. My clothes always had soap residue left on them. I read the manuals carefully and it did indicate that when manually adding softener, to let the rinse tub fill. It never did. We called the repairman who re-calibrated it, so supposedly it would work properly. He no sooner left when the red lock lid button started blinking. It was off-cycle again. It still does not fill. I have to go to another rinse drain cycle to rinse my clothes. My advice to anyone...DO NOT BUY AN AMANA WASHER, THEY ARE JUNK!!!

We had our Amana fridge freezer fitted in January 2009. After 6 years and 6 months this appliance has broken down and is unrepairable. We paid £3,800.00 for the fridge, and would have expected at least 10 years service from it, as we have had 10/12 years service from fridges that we have paid a fraction of this cost for. We have contacted Whirlpool, who manufactured the fridge, and have had a very unsatisfactory response so far. We are still fighting our case, and we are prepared to take this all the way, to make sure that no-one else buys an Amana product. If we had been advised that the expected lifespan of this appliance was so short and would be unrepairable, we would never have bought it.

I have been a loyal Amana, Whirlpool, Maytag, Kitchen Aid customer for close to 50 years now. My 7 year old French Door Amana Refrigerator still works fine, but has a product defect, the heater. Ice forms on the bottom of the Freezer compartment, and if not removed every 3 weeks (manually defrost) it will melt and run onto the floor. I had it repaired 1½ years ago for $503. Less than 8 months later the problem reappeared. There is a class action lawsuit for this well known issue. But Amana refuses to act. I called Amana and they told me they would gladly send a repair person out to look at the issue - AT MY EXPENSE!!!! Thats all they will do. Yesterday I bought my first Non-Whirlpool appliance, a GE refrigerator. I will never buy Amana, Whirlpool, Maytag or Kitchen Aid again - NEVER!!!

The Amana is an 18.5 cu.ft refrigerator. Its a year old and works well. I bought it for two reasons: a) a Bottom freezer and the height being less than 65 inches to fit under cupboards. I purchased an Amana refrigerator with bottom freezer about 4 years ago. Recently noticed water leaking from under the freezer onto the laminate floor. Upon further investigation noticed ice build up on the floor of the freezer. The lower basket would scrape on the ice as the door basket was pulled out. Checked out the problem on the internet and noticed a number of similar complaints. At that point assumed maybe there was a recall for a certain part causing the problem. Called the store where I purchased the appliance and a repairman was out within a day. He was knowledgeable and knew what the problem was. It appears to be fairly common. The replacement part has been fixed to remedy the problem. Because this is what I was told, I inquired about a possible recall. I was told that the part had been modified since I purchased my refrigerator. If the part has been changed or modified then it seems Amana is aware of the problem. The part is a drain tube. The cost to me including labor was almost $200.00. I felt that Amana should cover the cost as there are a number of complaints about this issue. The serviceman suggested I call Amana so I did. Even though the representatives were nice and professional they offered no resolution or satisfaction to my complaint. I spoke with a supervisor too. I fully explained my reason for calling and my dissatisfaction with Amana but really felt that they could care less. I stated that they would lose me as a customer if they could not stand behind their product especially knowing this was not a new problem. I guess customer satisfaction doesnt count for much today. Too bad but that is the last Amana product I will buy.

We purchased Amana Refrigerator model# ABB2222FEW on 8-15-06. We replaced control board when the refrigerator was only 2 yrs & 4 months old and it cost $216. Well guess what, it just went out again. The part cost me $111. My husband will try to replace it. If he cant, we will have to dish out another $100. This is ridiculous. Amana needs to step up and have a recall on this product. I have had a new top load HE washer now for just a few months and I regret I ever bought them. List of problems: (1) This will be the 3rd service call in just a few months. (2) NO SOFTENER DISPENSER, what rocket scientist would design a washer without a softener dispenser??? Its not like it would cost anymore to the company! You have to either stop the machine right when it’s filling up for a rinse cycle or...buy a softener ball which stains clothes and does an ineffective job at best! (3) My electric bill has not dropped one penny, do not tell me that these machines are more efficient, thats just politics, so that congress can say they are being more environmentally safe! HE (high efficiency) is not true!!!(4) The washer does a terrible job of cleaning clothes. It does NOT agitate properly, it just winds back and forth a little and makes a weird little noise. My old washer (Kenmore) was a superior product and I wish I had never got rid of it... If you own an Amana top load, just wash your clothes in deep water, so they at least wash better. (5) This is our 3rd service call as I said in the beginning in just a few months, the first 2 service calls were with the dryer and this one is for the washer. The motherboard is bad in the head of the unit. Buyer beware, these are not old time washers that you could open up any time or adjust water levels during the operation or just open up anytime you wanted to add clothes or more soap... No... These are very sensitive electronics that have issues when the washer process is disturbed in any way!!!(6) This is the way you have to treat these washer, pay attention... Open up lid, add soap, put clothes or whatever your washing on sticky soap. Add softener ball if you (unknowingly) bought a washer without a softening dispenser. That was us... Never buy from ad in paper, go see it, who knew washers are now made WITHOUT softener Dispensers!!! Then close lid and set settings from left to right and hit start program button. The reason I said program button (Start) is because these junk washers are now like cyborgs, part computer with junk electronic boards as electronics to control functions and operations of a washer which are just basic. After you do that, do NOT disturb in any way! Otherwise YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS AND REGRET YOU EVER BOUGHT THIS PIECE OF JUNK. Resetting only works so many times when it does have problems. I bought this from a local vendor through a sale paper ad. The vendor is not the problem, this is a Amana Corporate issue. Shame on you Amana, I will never buy a Amana product again... Trying to reinvent the wheel?

I purchased the Amana 25.1 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator in Stainless Steel, Model# ASD2522WRS from Home Depot 15 months ago, in September 2010. Two weeks ago, all my food in my fridge spoiled. I noticed while I was pouring milk in my sons cup, something told me to taste it because it didnt smell fresh even though it had over three weeks until expiration. It tasted like sour cream. I am so glad my child didnt drink that. I almost threw up. Also, I had four-day old ice tray in my freezer that was still liquid, my ice cream softened and all my sons popsicles crumbled to my touch. I had to throw away majority of our food and weve been eating carry outs since. I contacted Amana and they told me the warranty was only good for 12 months. They scheduled for a technician to come to my house for repairs. I was suppose to be priority since I was stuck at home without food. I waited all day for technicians to come and/or call. I even tried to call and couldnt get through since their lines were busy. I left a message and received a return call the next day. Amana gave them the wrong phone number. I wasnt given a quote so I asked the technicians directly for a estimate and they said they were going to charge me $129 just to come to my house + charges. Say what now? That is ridiculous.

I purchased an Amana Side by Side refrigerator in November 2017 and the freezer quit working after 4 months. Service Technician came out to repair and said that the workmanship involved at the factory was awful and he had to replace coils/condensing unit. Needless to say the next day the refrigerator and the freezer quit working. Another service company came out a week later and said that the first company did very poor work and they were to blame for the new problem. Needless to say they had to take refrigerator to their shop to break it totally down to find out all that is wrong. Called Amana customer service to request a brand new refrigerator only to be told NO! Without a refrigerator for three weeks and counting! Is this acceptable? Ask Amana and they will say yes! NEVER BUY AN AMANA unless this is what you want. Thanks AMANA. I hope your business survives because with this type of service I know my company would not last very long and I do not think yours will either.

About a year ago, I purchased an Amana oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Granted, all three were on the economy end of the model spectrum. I have issues with all three. The oven door on after only 4 months started to bind opening and closing. Also, the plastic trim around the oven handle also is cracked and continues to get worse. I called Amana thinking I could get it repaired within the 1 yr. warranty. I was told that the oven door repair is not covered because it does not affect the functionality of the appliance. Really? I think the door has quite a bit to do with the functionality of an oven. Regarding the microwave, the door, also cracking off the plastic trim around the window part of the door. Thirdly, the dishwasher upper rack keeps falling off the track because end bracket on the left side often comes unsnapped. These design (or should I say misdesigned) elements of Amana products should not be occurring. Especially after only a few months of use. Oh, by the way, after my 1 yr. warranty expired a couple months ago, I received a card offering to extend my warranty. You have to be kidding! I have sold my home and I will not have to be living with these inferior Amana appliances for long. I will never purchase an Amana appliance ever again. I used to think made in America meant something.

Bought a Amana HVAC in 8/14. In one month serviceman had install a hard start kit on the AC unit. When it starts the current it pulls shuts down all the florescent lights in the whole house. After the kit was installed all the lights still blink. A hard start kit is only used on units that are at the end of their life. NOT at the beginning. This not my first rodeo. The furnace (which also controls the AC) locks up any time the power goes off. I manually must turn thermostat off, turn off the furnace breaker, wait 10 minutes, switch the breaker on and the thermostat on for anything to work again. This is a weekend home so having a reliable furnace/AC is critical. Yes I have had the rural electric company out the check the power at the pole/house and at the AC unit. The power is not only good but exceptional.I have called each day for 4 weeks. Every time I get the same response. Your customer service guy is... He is waiting on a email from the Technical dept. I had a hard start kit installed on a different house in a different city. I asked the guy about this. He gave me a answer in less than 5 minutes. Answering the phone in less than 5 minutes does not give them the right to give a BS response! Oh BTW now the Amana service guy has sent me a bill for the hard start kit as that is not covered under warranty!!!

Three of my Amana appliances are not working. The Amana washer is 4.5 years old, the Amana oven and dishwasher are 6 years old. I understand that appliances break down but three so soon and at the same time????? Shame on Amana. Do not buy Amana products! I just paid $170 for a diagnostic evaluation to tell me that the repairs will cost me over $750. The issues I have with all three are common with other customer issues, yet the company does not issue recalls. I bought the stackable washer & dryer. If I end up needing a new washer, I dont know if I will be able to get one that will properly fit under the Amana dryer. I will never ever buy an Amana product again. This machine does not wash clothes very well. Everything must be hand washed beforehand. So for lightly soiled items, it would be nice to be able to just rinse and spin/dry. But even this small feature is impossible to isolate. The spin cycle leaves clothes quite wet. The rinse cycle adds more water than the wash cycle does and takes forever. Remember that I am getting the dirt out by washing the clothes by hand. The wash cycle does such a poor job. When I put the bed cover in for a wash, the water level did not wet more than half of the cover. So I manually filled it with water from the sink. The washer released the water out. So I wasted all that soap and effort. I took the cover to the laundromat. This machine does not wash laundry well. It has one reason for being in the house: to wash laundry, and I am doing clothes by hand or going to a laundromat. #fail.

I purchased a brand new stainless steal Amana refrigerator 6 months ago for 1200. The day it arrived I had issues. The doors do not line up. One door is 2 inches below the other. I called Amana and they told me this was due to a crooked house! The refrigerator sits perfectly level. Within hours we realized that the ice machine had design flaws. Water and ice cubes fail to land in the cup. Ice goes all over the floor. We have resorted to opening the freezer door and scooping ice out.About two weeks in to owning the refrigerator both of the sliding fruit and vegetation drawers were cracked. They are made of very brittle plastic. The drawers do not have castor wheels or a slide system. They just sit plastic on plastic. This causes major friction and difficulty shutting the drawers leading to them breaking. Amana offered to ship new ones but did not offer a fix. The refrigerator in the show room had extra freezer shelves and a meat cheese drawer. Mine came without them and I was told these are add on by Amana customer support. I will never again purchase an Amana product. Very dodgy craftsmanship.
