I got a GE cafe two years ago, all the matching appliances. A few weeks ago, we heard beeping in the middle of the night. ow every night at two am we get a message on the panel with annoying beeping. This weekend, we went out of town and when we returned the microwave was and had been on for a very long time. It doesnt take a genius to figure out that our house could burnt to the ground while we were gone! Thank God it didnt! Not to mention. my dishwasher does not clean! It takes 3 runs to wash.

We have a GE Profile Microwave (PNM1871SM3SS) that is only 3 years old and is reporting KEYPAD SHORTED - SERVICE MAY BE REQUIRED. We called GE service repair and told them the exact message. The service guy shows up and says all he has in his order is General other service needed and that he doesnt have the keypad panel. Gives us an estimate of $501 to repair it. Tells us a new one costs $400 and with a coupon he can give us it will be $100 less. We were charged $99 for this visit which basically lasted 10 minutes (way to go GE on making money off faulty devices you sell). The service-person also told us that the average life was 10 years for these, but this one crapped out in 3. He said if we get another GE microwave, it will fit right in there and that I can do it myself if I am handy but after reading all the reviews online, I am skeptical whether I should get a GE microwave again or not!

Bought a GE microwave and arranged to have it installed. Kept it in sealed box for 3 days until installer appointment. Opened box to find a crease (dent) in door. I phoned in to the GE warranty depot and they informed me that I only had 48 hours to report and as such was out of luck. They indicated that it is clearly stated in the Appliance Manual under the warranty section. Too bad that the Manual was in the sealed box. No warning on the outside of the box. On top of that the individual that I spoke to at the Warranty Depot was very rude. No more GE Appliances for me. Be forewarned.

My microwave was purchased 2.13, costing about $500. The panel shorts and I paid for one GE visit, $150. And it happened again. My friend was here and said hers does the same thing. She has a neighbor with the same problem. I researched online and learned quite a bit about this machine. I found out that the panel shorts when youre cooking under it, and steam/heat rises into the machine. Makes the panel short. Im now demanding that GE return $150 service fee that I paid before I found out that its a defective machine. And this machine has to be replaced with a model that allows cooking with vents on. If GE does not do the right thing, I will make it a life goal that no one buy their products. Mark my words. Im this angry because I called customer service this week and was told that theyll give me a new panel but I have to pay for the labor and no refund for the $150 and no replacement microwave. This was insulting. Shame on GE.

Five years ago I purchased a brand-new condo w/ a GE Nautilus dishwasher installed. This machine has NEVER worked right. Issues: 1. The detergent cup that closes, consistently gets stuck shut, hence only half of the detergent gets dispensed and a second cycle is usually needed to get the dishes cleaner. 2. Dishes are never really clean. Theres always at least one dish that has something left over on it, but its usually multiple dishes. 3. Lower rack started rusting out after 3 years of very light use (used approx 3-4 times a month). Loud. Louder than my washing machine. 4. Replacement parts are ridiculously expensive. A new lower rack is approx $100. My condo also came with a GE refrigerator. It too is junk. Never again...

I called the toll free number because of the concern I am having with your microwave, the paint is coming off the inside. So my concern is first why would it be coming off, is it a defect in the product or does it just happen? The person was helpful and seemed as if it was to be concerning. WELL IT IS to me. Could it make us sick, do I need to put it in the trash or what? Thanks for not helping me and not being concerned, but I am sure if it was you or family you would have had a different story to tell.

I had trouble from the beginning; the dishes came out hazy. When I called GE, they said to use the recommended detergent; I did. The dishes came out hazy and smelled like detergent. They messed around long enough with that and getting someone out to fix the controls, which did not work properly, until enough time lapsed and I could not get a refund. The dishwasher turned itself on after a power outage. It was not running when the power went out and was running non-stop for God knows how long before it was noticed. This happened at Thanksgiving time, and they had service out at 6 weeks so I had to do Thanksgiving dishes by hand. After that, they postponed for another 2 weeks. I got a replacement dishwasher, thanks to the Home Depot Manager. The dishes come out stinky and hazy; sometimes, there is visible soap residue on the glassware. I even ran the dishes through a second no detergent cycle and still had residue on the dishes. The controls do not work. We have to turn the power on and close the door 3 or 4 times before it will come on. We are afraid to leave the circuit breaker on when we leave as we are unsure if it will start on its own like the first one did. It is also the worst designed layout for loading any dishes. This is totally unacceptable as soap residue causes intestinal difficulties, and you should not have to be afraid that your dishwasher will take on a life of its own and start. I highly recommend you do not waste your money on this dishwasher. GE has extremely poor customer support. Home Depot support was great. This makes two GE Profile Dishwasher in less than a year and two strike outs. They will not get the chance for a third out. We are getting a KitchenAid.

I am writing this more as an educational notice for consumers of the G.E./Rheem gas water heaters to aid in uninterrupted service and understanding of the water heater. Installation locations: If you have installed your unit outside, all though in the owner’s manual, it states that G.E./Rheem says to never install the unit outside. People that live in warm climates do have their unit installed as such, but in a metal enclosure, of which to the city codes are fine, but again not by the G.E./Rheem standards. So being as this is accepted by city codes, people do and will continue to install water heater outside in enclosures.

My GE Profile Dishwasher is a plain Jane without the bells and whistles, yet is a trusted, working appliance. Honestly, the only beef I have with this model is that plastic articles do not dry completely unless placing the controls on Heated Dry, and leaving the dishes in the dishwasher for the entire drying cycle. I have had my kids place some dishes in the dishwasher, caked in day old food. I left the plates in the dishwasher, hoping to teach my kids a lesson about rinsing off their dishes before placing them in. Imagine my surprise when after running the dishwasher through its normal cycle, the plates came out spotlessly clean! Impressive!

I bought a dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago, along with GE fridge, microwave, convection oven for my remodeled kitchen. It was less than a year old, when the dishwasher control board went. GE fixed it for no charge, as it was under warranty. They sent the part, and the repairman was great. A little over a year later, the same thing happened. It is no longer under warranty. I spoke with a supervisor about this. This dishwasher was just over 2 years old, and again, the same thing happened. They were very nice, and sent a man over, after sending the same part in the mail, and again, he was very nice, and I was called to see if everything was to my satisfaction, and it was. I was not charged. It is now a few months later, and the machine will not begin the cycle. The lights are on, blink several times, then finally go off altogether. I did the troubleshooting suggestions, including turning it off via the circuit breaker to reboot, and still nothing. I am so angry. This is a relatively new machine. I am so disgusted that I will never buy another GE appliance, and strangely, I have stock in the company. Its a small amount, but stock nonetheless. What a shame. Now, I have to spend a lot of money on a repair that I should not have to. GE charges $90 just to walk in the door. I was told the second time it would be over $200 to repair a 2 year old machine. It is not the customer support nor repairmen that I am so angry about, rather, it is the ** machine, which is not even 3 years old! The thing is, I always try my best to buy American products, even cars. Before I call in a repairman, I am going dishwasher shopping, in case I decide that it is simply not worth an over $200 repair. I will not be looking at GE.

Bought all new General Electric Appliances in 2002. Dishwasher, Washing Machine, and Dryer replaced after 6 years. Handle on Advantium Microwave replaced twice at the cost of $50 for handle made of plastic? Today our house smelled like burning plastic which upon inspecting dishwasher, found the heating element was COOKING everything in dishwasher. Got so hot that is melted the silverware bin and anything plastic in dishwasher. Glad we were home to unplug unit which we could not reset the controller on door of unit. Consumer Product Safety Commission is aware of this incident and is VERY common complaint with this Manufacturer. I have been on hold for 30 minutes with GE consumer relations phone number 1-800-386-1215. Was told by automatic system wait time was going to be 5 minutes. I like many other people have had issues with the keypad malfunctioning. The first one shattered the first time I used the microwave, I then replaced it 2 years later and now another 3 years the second one stopped working. GE was rude when I talked to them, said they had no record of my replacement keypads even though I contacted them directly and were offering another for $514. That is no deal, I could get one in the store for that price. Also, the icemaker and water dispenser in my GE Cafe french door refrigerator are constantly malfunctioning, my range keypad does not always work, and the seal around my dishwasher keeps coming off! GE these are not quality products and you do not stand behind them.

Wow, Donna from NJ, I could have written your dishwasher report! But since I didnt, I have never been so disappointed in an appliance purchase as my new GE dishwasher! Not only are some of the dishes & silverware coming out more dirty than they went in, it takes a ridiculously long time for a cycle. And if there are more than a couple of tablespoons of water on the door, it will pee out onto the floor when the door is closed! Not to mention that there is junk stuck to the floor just inside dishwasher, under the door, after the cycle has run! Yet the worst part is how dirty dishes are after even a Sani Wash cycle! Sometimes, the detergent lid is still closed. Sometimes its open, but the detergent is still there. Even then, dishes may be cleaner in appearance that time, than when the detergent is gone. A water glass, may have gritty stuff - not just detergent stuck and hiding down inside, or more obvious all over inside the glass. I have spent the past year experimenting with various things: detergents, amounts of detergents, arrangements of dishes, heat of water, pressure of water, rinsing dishes before cycle, etc. Glass and pottery normally fare better than plastics, but again the plastic may have started cleaner than they come out! The dealer has been out three times, finding nothing obvious the DW itself, nor anything I have done wrong. He has been told there is a kit that would fix the performance problem, but he cant purchase it, nor can his distributor. I have been told the length of cycle is because our government regulates the amount of water used. So my question is, then its okay to use more electricity?! Its totally embarrassing to serve someone a drink in a glass that is found not clean near the end of the drink! And I, too, have an old 12-years-dishwasher that still works! It was even a cheaper brand. I never had to think where pieces were arranged in that dishwasher. I just thought, in my newly built house, I should have new appliances!

GE Microwave Model WES1450DN1BB 1.4 Cubic Ft 1100 Watt - This product is absolute garbage! This product was manufactured in June 2010 and I purchased it in approximately in May of 2011. So after 13 months of moderate use, the unit no longer functions properly. Needless to say, the product is out of warranty by about a month, so I pretty much now have nothing more than an overweight paperweight.I wont bore you with all the details, but for the most part, the touch pad stopped working and if left plugged in, the microwave will start on its own and run for up to a minute before beeping incessantly. If I unplug the unit and plug it back in, Ill receive a different error message, and so on. I wont waste my time contacting GE, because from what I hear, they really dont give a damn! When I was young, you could by an American-made product and expect it to last for many years. However, ever since greedy corporate America decided to ship all our jobs overseas in the name of profits, I have yet to find any imported products that are worth a damn. Instead of one good American product that would last a lifetime, I now have to purchase the same imported piece of ** many times over to get the same longevity. Maybe this is what GE wants?Needless to say, GE has now been placed on my Do Not Buy list. I guess I will now buy from another major manufacturer to see if their foreign-made garbage is any better!

I called GE, b/c the microwave has paint flaking off and piling on top of my food. Just like snow flakes. You tap the inside-ceiling with your index finger lightly and it looks like theres a snow fall inside the microwave. Lots of metal is exposed. We moved in to our home in 2006 and it had a GE Monogram Microwave built in. The microwave died and I purchased a similar GE Monogram microwave to match our kitchen in 2014. That microwave died exactly 17 months later. Fortunately, we had a home warranty program as we are selling our home. I figured that this saved me the effort to complain to GE about their product... Wrong. The Home Warranty program sent a repairman who said we can order a part. A few days later I received a call that they would replace the microwave. OK... I checked online as well as with a local retailer to see which model is the replacement model, and trim kit. Today (about 10 days after I first called for service) they delivered the new GE Monogram microwave and installed it. Fortunately, I asked to test it and we tried to boil a cup of water. The contents in the oven being cooked were not visible. Either the light was too dim or the shading on the door was too dark. I have never seen a Microwave where you could not view what is inside. I called GE Customer Service while the installers were there and they refused to allow me to keep it until a replacement was delivered. They had to deinstall it, re-install my old (non working unit) and take the new one back. I called GE with my homeowners claim info and they sent me back to the Homeowner Warranty company to start the claim all over. Ridiculous.Instead of a replacement they offered me a cash value which was 60% of what I paid the retailers. When I asked why that amount? They only provide the value based on what the Warranty company gets the products/services for (wholesale cost). Net: If I used the money to buy another product it would cost me out-of-pocket for replacement. I am hoping the new unit to be delivered in the next 3 days works better. Otherwise, GE has a significant design flaw that doesnt allow you to view what is cooking in the Microwave. If thats the case, why have a window at all? Fyi - My Panasonic Microwave in our basement is working fine.... and has for years.

We purchased a GE microwave/convection oven which developed peeling on the inside top of the microwave. GE contacted me and offered a replacement ($300 toward a shelf model or prorate the microwave/oven). Why would we take $300 replacement when we paid nearly $3000 for this oven???? So we took the prorated one directly from GE. We felt confident that we would not have a repeat of the problem. The oven was manufactured in December 2012. After it was delivered, I noticed a rough area on the turntable; and after the oven began to peel AGAIN on the second oven, I believe that the rough area was due to a remanufactured part on the oven. Now we are stuck with another microwave/convection oven combo with the same issues as the first oven. I never used anything harsh to clean the oven and now this happens again. Why cannot this company manufacture an oven that will not have defects in it??? I am tired of peeling paint on a second oven when I have done nothing except pay them for 2 ovens. Why cannot they use stainless steel interiors, and this would stop the many complaints that people make about the product. I would NEVER again purchase another product from this company. The products I have purchased have been inferior. I paid for two microwave/convection ovens and still have one that is inferior!!!!

In late March, we placed a service call under GEs one year warranty. The outcome - a gasket repair. Within a week or two, the door began to drip from both the right/left bottom. With having three teens, I figured someone opened the door and released some water. Well, that just wasnt the cause. Shortly over the next few days, the leak was consistent and I placed a service call to GE on 4/19. The customer representative offered, instead of a service call, to order some panels that fit it the bottom of the dishwasher. I stated clearly that our one year warranty was up on 4/25 and if this does not work, would GE address the issue with a service call? Answer was yes. Within a few weeks, I began to worry when I did not receive the panels. A call to GE was made; however, no documentation was noted of the call made on 4/19. However, GE stated the information might be in parts department, but regardless now, that call was made after one year warranty, extended warranty would fix the issue. Long story short, the extended warranty states problem initiated under GE and GE states the extended warranty is responsible because the call was made outside the one year warranty. I expressed that GE never fulfilled responsibility as GE did not even notify us that panels were not available for our unit. In the meantime, I am the one out of a working dishwasher. Now I know $539 may not be a lot to invest, but we feel the loss. The frustration and lack of responsibility to correct the repair is just beyond me. GE is responsible. Oh and did I share that lack of communication with GE is horrible? A promised call within 12-24 hours just doesnt happen. Again, I know most would say its not worth the frustration, but it makes me sad that GE and Assurant Warranty company can get away with what I know is wrong. Weve learned from this ordeal. No more GE products in our household.

All GE kitchen appliances delivered on time, but the dishwasher has been a nightmare. Started leaking right away, called GE and they couldnt come back out for 3 whole days after installing it, which ended up being a work day - so had to miss work to wait all day when he didnt come until 5 pm. Tried to make us pay for the service - we havent even used the dishwasher and they think we are going to pay them to come out fix their mistake, also under a 1 year warranty. Tech guy came out ran some computer test - didnt even look at the dishwasher or underneath. Test was good, we asked him to stay a few extra minutes and he said thats not his job. Leaked again. GE argued that we didnt get it installed by them, which was a lie. Same tech guy came out again, on a workday Again so missed work - finally figured out what was wrong, ordered the part. The part wasnt coming in for another week. So we Waited Another week without a dishwasher. When that day came We again missed work because they said between 1-5 and didnt even show up. GE tried to say the part wasnt in but we were holding the part when we asked where they were. Infuriating at that point already missed so much work days and GE employees couldnt even do their job. GE rescheduled the appointment without even telling us. Had to wait another week until they finally came out and fixed the dishwasher. Now almost a month after they delivered the appliances, I received a charge and didnt not even email to let us know we were being charged. Horrible experience with GE and will never ever buy from them again.

Just two years old, the interior paint in my GE Microwave JES1072SHSS started to peel. I called customer service, then emailed, learned that the paint peeling posed no health problem, then, as a gesture of goodwill, given a $75 rebate. I foolishly bought yet the same microwave today (and will return it) as I read here on this site: not only is it unsafe to use a microwave with peeling paint, GE had a class action suit over this very issue and never took responsibility for the health risks to loyal consumers. So it gets returned this week. But PLEASE BEWARE. Gosh, I really bought the goodwill - hook, line and sinker! Then I read all the complaints here - about peeling paint.

We have purchased this GE Profile PP970FR2SS microwave with oven combo a year ago. In less than a year, we have experienced these problems on the microwave that still keeps on heating even if its not in use and a buzzing sound can be heard. We called for repair and the repairmen replaced the door switch mechanism. In less than a month, same issues persist. Again repaired but after some months, same problem. The technician said that the door mechanism is not the original parts and ordered the original GE Profile parts. But after replacing it, the same problems exist and the technician said that its now the panel board. Its been almost two weeks now that we dont have any microwave and still waiting for GE technician to repair it. I wouldnt buy this brand anymore and wouldnt recommend a combo for microwave and oven. This is a poor design and quality on GE. Hopefully, this equipment will not cause any fire. We now turn off the circuit breaker for this device every time we go on a long trip/vacation.

Its been more than 2 months that GE repair has been TRYING to repair my 4 month old dishwasher. 4 service calls, 3 wrongly ordered parts, GE blaming repair company, and repair CO. blaming GE. The repair company on their 4th visit told me wrong part again and that they refuse to come out anymore. They lost enough money already. When talking with GE consumer Dept. promises of a call back by a manager has been non existent, now they wont even return my call. I have a 5yr extended warranty on the dishwasher and I cant seem to get anywhere with the factory warranty. GE by far the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They were happy to take my money for 4 top of the line appliances, after that youre non existent to them. Its a shame that legal counsel is what seems my only avenue. Will never consider buying GE products ever again.

Our last microwave was also a GE and it lasted about 15 years before it started to suffer from occasional electrical arcing inside, while in use. We simply stopped using it and after reviewing all models, chose to buy another GE and it has been great. We have an over the range micro at our summer home - a Frigidaire and not as good. Our research shows it will likely fail long before the GE.

I bought this dishwasher GLDT690TBB-00 on 05/12. Its not even 2 yrs old. I had some minor complaints about how hard it was to fit bowls, how the utensil rack wasnt easily accessible, how long the cycles took, how it had to be vented right after a cycle to keep clean dishes from smelling musty... But I was willing to put up with that. I spent about $700 new. The dishes did come out clean, if I stacked them properly. I only used it when full, about 2x/week, as I am an aging widow & live alone. It stopped functioning a few days ago. Control panel lit up, a little water came in, but no action with spray, etc. Called a local repair company today. They say the control panel is shorted out, and that in turn burned out the motor. The repair cost would have been $524.61. REALLY? Not doing that! Very disgusted. Ill never buy GE again. Last KitchenAid lasted 12 yrs, but as all the repair guys say: They dont make em like they used to! Too many bells & whistles. All I require is clean dishes, and for the appliance to do its job.

We had to rip the carpet off our stairs and now the water is ruining the drywall! We usually turn on the dishwasher in the night. Last month ours started smelling smoke in the morning 6:00 am. When checked, it was the dishwasher that melted couple of plastic cans and its own sprayer and other plastic parts (pictures speaks for itself). When checked with GE, this model was not under recall (there are other models with similar issues). They sent their technician, who confirmed that newer models has auto turnoff circuit. When I asked GE rep, both (level 1 and her manager) assured me that even though it shows its burnt from inside, it would have contained the fire inside, which I disagree. Even after seeing pics, their tech review and the whole incident, their engineers determined this is not a safety hazard to me or my family.

Three years ago, we remodeled our kitchen and replaced all our appliances with GE Profile Stainless Steel appliances, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Two months ago, the dishwasher, model PDWT580R10SS, stopped working. It was out of warranty, but the store where we purchased it said to call GE consumer service to see what they could do. They said that they would replace the parts for free if we paid for service. They said they would send a GE certified service tech to fix it. The two people they sent were dumb as a brick and after tearing apart the door, they decided that the controller board was bad and sent for a replacement. Two weeks later, they installed the new controller board and it still didnt work. They called GE and were walked through a troubleshooting guide and it was determined that the touchpad was bad. They ordered a touch pad and two weeks later, they arrived to install it and asked where the part was. According to them, it was sent to me and was at the post office, which it was not. They then asked to be paid for the three calls and I told them I do not pay for incompetence and would pay them when the appliance was fixed. Turns out, they gave GE the wrong address (their store) for the part and it was sent back. I called GE Consumer Service and talked to my rep who said she would send the part directly to me and that the service rep refused to work with me again and I should contact another service organization. The part came and it was not a touch pad, even though the packing list said touch pad. I called the GE rep, who is now a good friend and she said she would contact the store where we purchased the dishwasher and have them fix it as long as I paid for the parts. It is now two weeks since they arrived and diagnosed the problem. I just called the store and they said the part was backordered for another week. It will be close to three months before the dishwasher will be fixed if it can be. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PURCHASE A GE APPLIANCE.

A few years ago, I purchased a brand new GE microwave oven. A week ago the microwave oven stopped working. I contacted an Appliance Repair company for repair. When the tech came & disassembled the microwave oven, he discovered pliers inside the oven. We took pictures of it (BTW, it wasnt the cause of the problem). I contacted GE to alert them of this & they told me that the robots that assembled the microwave oven probably dropped it in there. Then they said they will send a tech to my residence to investigate. I told them that the pliers was removed & the microwave oven is fixed & assembled. Nonetheless they sent a tech anyway. I told the tech what his Customer Service said & he said he wasnt surprised about the tool being inside an appliance from GE & GEs response. In summary, I would not recommend purchasing any GE products. They proved their products are a safety hazard & they dont care about the consumer nor their safety. I guess my GE Profile dishwasher is a lemon. Sounds like it from all the other reviews. Same deal - purchased it in July of 2016 and by October 2016 it went out. Technician that was sent told me it was the electric and I needed to have an electrician fix the fuse. Electrician came out and said it had electric, that it was the dishwasher that failed. Next technician fixed it and said the electronic panels get confused. Three days off of work. December, 2016 the dishwasher failed again. Had no dishwasher throughout the holidays. They scheduled service technician and then cancelled because the one technician they had was out sick.Today, January 9th, they called to let us know they were on the way, but never called the number they were supposed to, so now we are totally taken off the schedule. Ive been on hold and disconnected three times and now have been on hold for one hour and 6 minutes. DONT BUY GE APPLIANCES - Terrible service and crappy appliances that dont work. This is really sickening since I have ALWAYS used GE appliances.

Dishwasher Disaster SR# TD729818B M# CDT765SSF1SS - Please, Please, Please, help me to come up with a solution with the issues that have plagued me and my family since we purchased the dishwasher referenced below in the numerous e-mails and electronic correspondence! As I write this E-mail, the GE Assigned warranty repairman has the dishwasher in question torn apart and disassembled for the 3rd time in the last month and half (Please see included photos). A repair I was told was only going to be minutes to conduct has now lasted over 3 hours and caused me to miss a very important appointment. That time frame will go at least another hour if the repair is even possible? Not to mention that a dishwasher that has been used less than 25 times has once again been torn apart and reassembled. I dont care how well built they are, this in my mind affects their performance! The repairman from JK Appliance has spent at least 12 man hours of repair time on the dishwasher, made a half dozen calls to your tech support (check your records), and has never spent less than 4hrs here on a visit. Once again, I have to be here for those visits (time out of my day) plus the stress of watching a brand new $1600.00 dishwasher dismantled time after time! At what point does G.E. make a decision that the amount of money being spent to repair a defective machine is not worth it?? I have to believe that 12hrs of repair time plus an hour of travel time for three separate visits each way, has already added up to the price of a new/replacement dishwasher? The other two G.E. appliances (microwave/Gas Stove) purchased with our remodel last year have performed flawlessly and we are happy with them. However, the trouble with the dishwasher has soured us on ever considering G.E. again! I plan on sending this E-mail and attachments to every consumer/watchdog group (Consumer Affairs) that Im aware of and to the store (Lowes- Farmington N.M) that the appliance was purchased at. This is not meant to be a threat, Im just at my wits end as to how to get to the end of this long tortuous journey that a simple appliance has caused for me and my family. Yes, there are certainly more pressing problems in the world, but right now this is the one that is currently affecting my family and the happiness in our home! Please advise if there is another route that I need to go with this problem including any alternate points of contact (GEs Escalated Issues department). My phone number is ** and maybe a simple personal call of apology from someone at G.E. explaining what my alternatives are would be considered? Thanks for your time and consideration.

I live in a condominium building with approximately 105 units. We all had the same GE microwave installed in our units approximately five years ago (contractor-installed). I sent out a mass email to all of the owners to ask if they were having the same problems I was having my microwave, which was the touch panel will not accept commands. I received approximately 15 complaints from various homeowners with the same complaint. When I called GE to tell them the problem I was having with my microwave, they told me a technician would have to come out and diagnose the problem. The service call would be $99.95, and at that time the technician would let me know what the problem was and tell me the charge for the replacement part and labor cost. I told GE Customer Service that there were many people in my condo building who were having the same problem and I wanted to know why each homeowner should have to pay the initial $99.95 service call fee? The response was, That is our policy. To placate me, GE customer service said they would charge me the initial fee but I would receive a 25% discount for parts and labor. In the meantime, two or three other homeowners made service call appointments for their microwave oven with GE. One homeowner was given a fee for parts and labor, which would have been only slightly less than buying a new microwave and another homeowner was not given a labor cost. In both cases, the homeowners did not go forth with their repairs, because buying a new microwave was more cost effective.I want Consumer Affairs to know GE grossly mishandled this malfunction issue amongst a group of homeowners who own the same microwave. Secondly, I realize the microwave ovens are five years old, but GE should have some record regarding failing parts along with the life cycle of this product. Lastly, I want GE to be held accountable for not telling consumers a repair cost for certain issues. There should be a cost per hour, not cost per broken item.I kept records of all correspondence amongst the homeowners of my condominium building, so I will be of great assistance if you need further help from me. Product malfunction is a GE Profile Spacemaker 2.0 Model # JVM2070SK02.

First, as a new homeowner blessed with select builder-provided appliances, I never imagined I would be authoring this letter 4 months after closing on the new home. Your friggin’ microwave oven light mechanism truly sucks! I lost the two bulbs a week or so ago and purchased two more at the cost of approximately $10, even though a one-year warranty was stated. That was okay, as I was more interested in fixing the problem versus starting some long-range purchase interest. So, and this is the most aggravating aspect, I have the correct pins and life is ** good, and as I attempt to insert the first, the ** pin breaks off. Okay, so I reflect on the horrific engineering of the mechanism, and I softly” align the second of the two bulbs, and the ** pin breaks off again. ** is my predominant theme tonight. My less than a year old GE microwave stopped working last week. My AT&T phone service died so I had to make repair arrangements online. Guy was here this morning. My microwave’s main board is fried. It does not conform to Repair Guy’s published schematics. Repair Tech could not upload new data to it. Repair guy did order three new parts including a main board. GE told Repair Guy that mainboard delivery ETA UNKNOWN. After three hours here repair tech left and told me to call GE customer care. Believe it or not, two hours on telephone with GE. First you need to talk to a customer service rep that cannot help you. They then determine you need a Customer Advocate. Then they need to input data on your file for the Customer Advocate. Then they need to transfer you to that department. Then you have to get a case number assigned. Then you give someone all the serial numbers and model numbers again. Then the Customer Advocate (CA) takes the call. The CA does not speak English as you and I speak English. After the CA puts me on hold to verify the purchase, then the appointment, then the tech and then the order they actually speak to me. In my case, the mainboard part is not available on CA’s computer. The CA has to electronically contact the parts department to find out if the part is in this universe. If the part can be delivered to my Repair Guy in Jackson, GA within 14 BUSINESS days from the date of the inquiry I have to take the part and wait for repair. In the event the part cannot be delivered in 14 days CA will start a process to get me a new microwave. The parts department has up to 48 hours to respond to the CA. When asked what happens if no response occurs in 48 hours, I was told, That never happens. It is the Christmas Holiday and I anticipated guests. My husband is disabled and his meals are pre-made frozen so I will have to decompose them and heat them on the cooktop. GE could care less about those issues. So after waiting five days for repair I have no working microwave. Someone told me not to replace my GE with a GE, but I did not listen. It is December, holidays, no microwave is an aggravation that I thought paying for a GE product would alleviate. So, on January 2nd I might get an answer. Part possible or new appliance COULD be ordered and delivered by someone sometime.

We have a five-year old GE Profile Microwave that has an LCD panel. It is a nice feature, but it has become unresponsive to touch and now will cost us $500 to replace the LCD panel. We will just buy a KitchenAid instead. The LCD panel is not sealed, so when you cook, even using the exhaust fan, the moisture gets up in there and damages the panel. This is such a terrible design. We paid $600 for this microwave thinking it is a good quality appliance. Never buy GE! I was in Best Buy yesterday and told people who were there looking at microwaves. Terrible quality! We have to purchase a whole new microwave hood range now.

Our GE Profile dishwasher turned itself on and overheated to the point that everything inside was completely melted. This has been happening with other models but mine PDW9900NBB is not on the recall list. This leads me to believe that there is a serious defect in GE dishwashers. Even more disappointing is the length of time one waits to talk to a customer representative. Whatever they decide to do, I have lost confidence in GE completely and do not want to replace this with another fire hazard. Bosch, here I come.

First, I want to acknowledge that I misplaced my receipt due to a move, 8 storage units and 4 houses. But...I did register my new, never before installed dishwasher when it was installed October 2020. After install I ran it empty to test/clean it. IT LEAKED. I called GE to schedule repair. I was told it was manufactured in 2018 (another said 2019) and it was not under warranty. I explained I purchased it only a few months before and installation was delayed due to my contractors. They said I would have to pay for labor but the parts were covered under warranty. I didnt like it but agreed because I couldnt find the receipt (from a big box store).Local repair people came, after 2 more calls, 3 weeks later and fixed the leak. They did not run or check if anything else was wrong with the dishwasher. I began using it and quickly realized that it did not get the dishes clean. It does not heat the water, it does not dry, it cant possibly sanitize without heat and kitchen installer said it was missing the kick plate. Geez!! And this is just the things I know!! I have called 4 times now to schedule a service repair, each time having to explained the whole thing, sit on hold, ask to speak to a supervisor, be transferred to customer service and 4 times I have been DISCONNECTED!! I bought all GE appliances so they would match but I would give anything if I didnt have to deal with GE again!! Unfortunately, I will have to call again Monday or buy a different brand. Save yourself and buy another brand!!! Wish I could submit a picture.

We bought this dishwasher, with third rack and steel tub, after extensively reading reviews online. We went through Home Depot and had to wait a month for the dishwasher to be delivered. We have had it just over a month now and not only does it fail to get all of the dishes completely clean (even when run on heavy cycle) it NEVER dries even with the dry boost on. We never overload it or load it incorrectly and still there are dishes and utensils with food residue after its done running which takes hours. I predict it will rust out in about five years (planned obsolescence). The only feature Im happy with is that it is nearly silent. Not hearing it run helps to not remind me how much money we wasted.

I have a over the stove microwave. I went to pull out the filter to clean, and one came out no problem. The second one fell apart. I got online today to replace $38 plus $6 S&H for one!!! It was the first time I took it out. I called GE told them I thought it was B.S. They said, No problem, we will give you 15% off and free shipping. Only problem was they wanted $47. I have 3 GE appliances. When its time to replace I will NOT be buying GE.

I have had a fridge, a washer and a microwave oven from GE. I have been so disappointed in all three, but the microwave oven disappointed me the most. The door broke around the handle and the hinges, and was replaced shortly after buying it. Then it broke again and I replaced it myself. Then it broke again. This makes me not want to try another GE product. The fridge shelves all broke because they were plastic. The washer fell apart shortly after a year. It is just myself and my husband using them, so they should last for years. When you buy large item, you would like them to last a long while.

Have been trying to have repairs for new appliances less than year old since before May 20th. Have had cancelled appointments, service never showed, wrong parts etc. Went to consumer advocates for help, no help. Today my appointment was again cancelled and rescheduled to July 10th. About to have a stroke. Both ice makers dont work, yet I am not put ahead. Have to go back in line after GE cancels.Purchased microwave, double oven profile appliances, two dishwashers for which gasket fell off and dispenser for soap leaked, french door refrigerators, all stainless steel. I just got off phone with consumer advocates and again was told next date July 10th. And I do want an attorney to contact me. Thank you and I hope I get a response.

We have the dishwasher, fridge and stove from the GE Cafe series. In the 2 years that we have had them, we have become pretty acquainted with the local repair people because there hasnt been one month when all three were working at the same time. The fridge had to be replaced (we lost over $1000 in just food) - the replacement fridge had to be repaired. The customer service is awful. They are just trained NOT to be helpful. GE takes no responsibility for putting out such low quality, high priced appliances. I will never buy GE again and hopefully these reviews can save you the same grief and hopefully money (we have to pay for service repairs). Buy anything but GE, one star - is one too many!

I recently purchased a GDT696SSFSS Serial #SWGF800933C GE dishwasher. From the moment I tried to use it there was a leaking water to the floor from the back wall. I contacted the store that referred me to GE stating that their role ended when we received the dishwasher (long story..). I called GE service and when they came the technician said needs seal mat and offered to repair (the dishwasher has been installed in the garage since the water that comes out flood the kitchen floor and we cant afford having the floor damaged). But I had no faith whatsoever in this dishwasher (I was told if the problem happen again and damage my floor they will only offer to repair the dishwasher and I have to go to the insurance to repair my floor) or GE and said I wanted my money back. They did not even offered a replacement. It is still a brand new machine, I never use it.

I own a GE counter-top sensor microwave oven model #JES1451, which was only 2 years old. At 3:00AM, I woke to a room full of smoke and a burning plastic smell. I immediately rushed to the source which was my microwave oven. It was going by itself and the panel read sensor error with smoke billowing out of it and flames erupting. Luckily, I had a fire extinguisher handy. I had never had any problems with this microwave prior to this experience. I cringe at the thought of what could have happened to my home and my family sleeping upstairs if I hadnt been nearby.

After about 5 months of owning the unit (GE dishwasher model GDT580SGFBB), the door latch sensor became defective and discontinued the wash cycle up to 6 times every use. I contacted the GE warranty department. Their consumer relations advocates treated me as subhuman. I never felt like a valued customer, my concerns and my time were never a priority. Instead I became a part of their research and development program while beta testing a defective product. After 6 months of futile repairs requiring multiple technician visits I was exasperated. I had submitted 4 separate warranty claims that often were mysteriously closed without my knowledge. I finally contacted the original retailer, Home Depot, and shared my experience. They catered to me even though it was well past the 90-day store policy. They gave me a credit for the purchase price so I could choose a replacement. Since I dont want to touch another GE appliance with a 10-ft pole, I chose another brand. Shortly thereafter I received a call from GEs Escalated Issues department offering to replace the unit. Evidently that lit a fire under them. But it was too late, my patience with GE has been exhausted. If this is the way GE wants to run their business, then it will be a fast-track way to dig their own grave.

GE MICROWAVE OVEN MODEL PVM 187osmcoz PROFILE over the range. This is the first time we have purchased an extended warranty. It was purchased October 2010. On December 6 2010, the whole unit was replaced. Then little things continued to occur. The fan would start to run continuously. The circuit board was replaced. That lasted for several months. Then another circuit board was replaced. Less than two weeks ago another circuit board was replaced. Last night at dinner the unit began acting up again. This unit is out of commission for almost a whole week after every break down as we wait for parts. While waiting for parts on Jan 24 2012 we bought a Sunbeam Microwave for $39.95 as a back up. I placed it in service today, Jan 29 2013.

The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something
The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something unit apartment complex caught fire in June 2014. The manufacture date is listed as December 2012. I moved into the unit in June 2013 and the microwave was brand new still and had never been used by anyone else. I myself rarely use the microwave and only use it for heating up cold food that I previously cooked on the stove top. After heating up rice using the 2 minute express option and removing the food from the microwave, I had gone to the restroom for 30 seconds only to return and find the microwave on fire. The fire ignited from the ceiling of the microwave. I had initially intended on going to the bathroom to take a shower but needed to open a new bar of soap, so I had only returned to the kitchen to throw the soap packaging in the trash. Had I not done the latter, my entire apartment could have caught fire and it would have been difficult if not impossible for me to escape from my third floor apartment. Reading all of these complaints it is really hard to believe that a government agency has not stepped in and forced GE to STOP MAKING MICROWAVES! From the complaints on this board it is clear to see that every year GE continues to make appliances that put consumers safety and lives at risk. You would think that after so many recalls that they would have perfected their product by now, but that is not the case. It almost seems as though they are just slapping new model and serial numbers on the same BAD product. The management in my building contacted GE and my microwave was replaced with another GE microwave manufactured in 2014. I did not want another GE microwave, but I only rent so I didnt have a choice. I used the microwave once so far and the fan automatically came on after 2 minutes of use. It does state inside the microwave that the fan may come on automatically, but I just dont trust this brand anymore. I have a countertop microwave that works perfectly fine that Ive owned for over 15 years that I will be using. I will unplug the GE microwave and just keep it for aesthetic purposes, since thats all its good for.

My prior GE ref was 13 years old. New one, now four months old, has cut my electric bill by 40%, runs much more quietly. It is a 15.3 cu feet side-by-side; the top area of the refer side has a bulky light cover that interferes with what you can put on the top shelf. The pockets on the inside door of the freezer side are a bit too small. But, all things considered, it's a great unit and I'd probably buy it again, considering the price.

To inform others that need an under-cabinet space-saving microwave, unless you are replacing an existing GE unit (and want the mounting brackets to align for easy re-installation), I would strongly suggest getting a different unit. I am about to buy my third GE undercounter microwave for the past 11 years. The rest of my kitchen is pretty high-end Thermadore, Kitchenaide, ASKO, and Braun. I was very impressed by the look of the GE over-the-range microwave oven but my impressed state faded not too long after I began using the oven. My typical usage ranges from heating something for 20 seconds to soups for three to four minutes. Within the first month of purchase, the paint on the floor of the oven was peeling off, exposing the metal color. I was only wiping/drying out the oven with a soft cloth, never using an abrasive product or cloth, so the peeling paint was only due to moisture. I have now owned the oven for just over 14 months and not only is the floor nearly completely devoid of the white painted surface but I just had a quick fire when thawing frozen onion chips for 10 seconds. My previous, much less expensive microwave lasted nearly 7 years, so its a shame that a supposedly better model cannot match the longevity of the GE model. Looks aside, I would not recommend a GE microwave oven to anyone looking for a new or replacement microwave.

I just dont know how to start to show how disappointed and upset Im about this Microwave. I know GE is good brand but this Microwave must be the worst. I bought this microwave between July or August in 2016. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt. I bought a cash at Home Depot in my area, because I bought it cash Home Depot unable to find a record of but they remembered I did buy there between that time. I know bought that time because I bought my house in July 20116. This microwave started giving problems since June 2017. When I call GE they told me, they cant help because I dont a receipt, and they told from their record, this microwave was purchase in January 2015, they didnt want to believe that I purchased it in 2016.They charged over $100 to have a technician to come, he has to order a part that cost as well over $100, when the part comes another technician came. It was the wrong part. He had to order another part. The technician came back and Microwave work for only 1 or 2 months and stop working. Its been very stressful with this Microwave. This microwave was the most expensive, I bought over $500-600. Even though from your record you said I bought it in 2015, it still unfair, no one expect to buy something that expensive and break down that fast. I dont what to do. Im just so frustrated about the whole situation. This microwave cost me about $ 1,000 now from price to repair, and yet still not working. I wish someone reply to me and help me, if no one help I never wish to buy a GE product. So Sad GE, I need HELP.

Im just beginning the process of investigating this dishwasher I bought that doesnt work. I am a snowbird so this machine has only been used part time for a family of 2. We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

Soon after getting our new Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM3SS the control panel died. I called GE and power cycling got it going again. This is an over the stove microwave, so we were also told by GE not to use the right front burner without the fan on boost. The problem persisted from time to time and steadily got worse over our 5 years of ownership. Reading the internet this was a common problem known to GE but they took no action to contact owners. The panel is now dead and my only option, having tried the fixes on Youtube, is to invest money starting at $108 for an inspection or buy a new Microwave. My entire experience with this product has been a big disappointment as I also own a GE Cafe range, fridge, and dishwasher.
