I have a GE microwave. It stated that I had a 10 year warranty on the magnetron on the computer website. Now GE says its not warranted. I have owned this microwave for a little over a year and its pile of **. All they wanted to do is sell you their products and they dont stand behind what they make anymore. Nothing is made to last in this time and age. I will never buy GE products from Home Depot again.

Needed to replace handle. Silver covering started to peel and actually got a splinter. Cheap plastic underneath covering. Called GE and while they did send out a replacement, I had to pay to have it installed. Instructions on internet were not helpful! Bill to replace was $142. Ouch. GE rep said they did not have prior complaints. I later Googled it and saw 1000 complaints!!!

We purchased a GE JVM6175EFES microwave oven in 2014 and are now on our 4th unit. When cooking food, condensation forms and drips down the wall behind the microwave. GE replaced it with another, but it was a rebuilt unit which when operated caused sparks and smelled of something electronic burning inside. So another unit was ordered and delivered damaged. Now after a year, the 4th unit is once again causing condensation on the back wall. GE has no answer or explanation for this problem and really doesnt seem to care. This is just one of several problems weve had with GE appliances. We also had to go thru 3 refrigerators to get one that was not damaged from the factory. We will be trying to replace the microwave with a different model, but doubt if GE will work with us to get this resolved as their customer service has been no help at all. DO NOT BUY GE appliances.

We purchased a black over the stove microwave from GE, the oven has great preset buttons and it extremely easy to use. It looks sleek and works great. The only issue we have had was a few months after purchase we tried to change the bulb for one of the lights and the entire mechanism crumbled and fell out so we only have one light now over the stove. Disappointing but everything else works great.

We have never had a problem with the microwave. Most of our use has been heating things up. There has been a few times that our granddaughter made something else. It is lightweight. Easy to clean. Not too large or small. Fits what we use it for perfectly. Doesnt take up much room. It heats perfectly. It has been a really good microwave.

We bought this microwave (GE DE68-00307A) brand new 2 years ago and the paint is peeling off everywhere!!!! I keep my microwaves extremely clean, and this was not due to wear and tear by any means. I would say it started after about a year and a half of having it. I have showed multiple people and I cannot believe this is not on a recall list. This is extremely dangerous and could cause many issues. I am hoping someone can do something about this manufacturer and this product. This alone will make me never buy a GE product again.

We bought our new home 4 years ago & bought upgraded GE Profile appliances. To date, the gas range has been serviced 3 times, the refrigerator too many times to remember & now my dishwasher pump has gone out. We found out the pump just cannot be replaced, but all hoses, etc. must be purchased as well. GE is CRAP & I will never even consider purchasing anything from this company again. Knowing it was bought out a few years ago by Whirlpool (I believe) but still remains under the GE label - consumers BEWARE.

Bought all new General Electric Appliances in 2002. Dishwasher, Washing Machine, and Dryer replaced after 6 years. Handle on Advantium Microwave replaced twice at the cost of $50 for handle made of plastic? Today our house smelled like burning plastic which upon inspecting dishwasher, found the heating element was COOKING everything in dishwasher. Got so hot that is melted the silverware bin and anything plastic in dishwasher. Glad we were home to unplug unit which we could not reset the controller on door of unit. Consumer Product Safety Commission is aware of this incident and is VERY common complaint with this Manufacturer. I have been on hold for 30 minutes with GE consumer relations phone number 1-800-386-1215. Was told by automatic system wait time was going to be 5 minutes. GE Profile Microwave JVM1850DMCC - For the third time in 5.5 years, Ive experienced a magnetron failure in a GE Profile Microwave. The first failure was fixed under warranty. The second was so bad, the microwave had to be replaced, but it was no longer under warranty. I should have heeded the warning and gone to another brand, but on 12/31/10, I paid over $500 to replace the microwave with a new GE Profile to match the existing appliances. Apparently this was a big mistake as the magnetron has failed yet again. The microwave is on its own separate 20A circuit, so that shouldnt be an issue. It would seem, however, based on the number of complaints I see on this site, there is something inherently wrong with the manufacture of these microwaves, or more specifically the magnetrons. Im extremely disgusted at this point.

I purchased my GE Microwave about a year and a half ago. It has served me with flying colors till yesterday. To explain, I was boiling a small plastic pan of water for some rice. I have done this many times in the past. In the middle of the cooking cycle I heard a loud bang from the microwave. I stopped the cooking cycle and opened the door. To my surprise the glass turntable had shattered into several pieces. I cleaned out all the broken glass and tested the microwave. It seems to be working perfectly with the exception of the glass turntable. A new one was ordered. No further action is required. This is just an information for GE.

Not a very good job at cleaning, plus takes over two hours to run. It has a steam function, to help clean grease off of dishes, and should be used for simple cleaning too. Although the instructions state it can hold settings of 8, we have never been able to use more than 4 before it is packed. The utensil holders are almost useless. It has nice lighting for controls and a clean front. The installations instructions are not very good. They also did not include an elbow to connect to the water supply, which the hardware store manager said is standard connection, so GE just wanted to save $4.00 and piss off the customers instead.

Three years ago, we remodeled our kitchen and replaced all our appliances with GE Profile Stainless Steel appliances, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Two months ago, the dishwasher, model PDWT580R10SS, stopped working. It was out of warranty, but the store where we purchased it said to call GE consumer service to see what they could do. They said that they would replace the parts for free if we paid for service. They said they would send a GE certified service tech to fix it. The two people they sent were dumb as a brick and after tearing apart the door, they decided that the controller board was bad and sent for a replacement. Two weeks later, they installed the new controller board and it still didnt work. They called GE and were walked through a troubleshooting guide and it was determined that the touchpad was bad. They ordered a touch pad and two weeks later, they arrived to install it and asked where the part was. According to them, it was sent to me and was at the post office, which it was not. They then asked to be paid for the three calls and I told them I do not pay for incompetence and would pay them when the appliance was fixed. Turns out, they gave GE the wrong address (their store) for the part and it was sent back. I called GE Consumer Service and talked to my rep who said she would send the part directly to me and that the service rep refused to work with me again and I should contact another service organization. The part came and it was not a touch pad, even though the packing list said touch pad. I called the GE rep, who is now a good friend and she said she would contact the store where we purchased the dishwasher and have them fix it as long as I paid for the parts. It is now two weeks since they arrived and diagnosed the problem. I just called the store and they said the part was backordered for another week. It will be close to three months before the dishwasher will be fixed if it can be. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PURCHASE A GE APPLIANCE.

I purchased a GE over-the-range microwave in 2008. After 3 years, the magnetron went out and the microwave stopped heating. I called GE repair, and they told me it would cost over $300 to fix - close to the cost of a new microwave. Stupidly, I bought another GE microwave in August 2011, model JVM1750DP1BB. In the one year Ive had it, it has broken 4 times. One time, it was the magnetron (seems like a common problem). Another time it was the motherboard. Another time, it was a bad wiring problem. Each time, I called the GE repair service, and it takes 1-2 weeks to get an appointment. Twice, they cancelled my appointment on the day because they overbooked. Given that I had to take time off work for the appointments, this is a huge inconvenience. I have been waiting over this last time for an appointment, after they again cancelled my scheduled appointment. GE makes a terrible product, and their repair service is a joke. I bought GE because I wanted to Buy American, but they have completely turned me off. Think twice about buying GE! You will waste lots of time and money.

I spoke to someone in the customer relations department after contacting GE cares. Our GE refrigerator purchased 16 months ago had malfunctioned. Within minutes of explaining the problem GE located my file in their system. They immediately extended the manufacturer warranty as a courtesy. I didn’t have an extended warranty but GE arranged to have the service technician come to my house to repair, what he discovered was a broken fan, in less than 24 hours at no cost. While the likelihood of a fairly new appliance needing repair is rare, the service technician did explain that repairs needed with GE appliances does keep him very busy. I purchased a new GE washing machine, and a new GE dishwasher, less than 5 years ago. The washing machine started leaking suddenly, and the repairman stated it was due to a cracked basket. They stated this was very rare, but the warranty had expired. The repairs would cost as much as a new machine. The dishwasher stopped draining water. A repairman advised there were two pumps, and one or both may be out. Estimates to repair the unit were only slightly less than the cost of a new unit.I will never again purchase GE appliances. I believe the life of a home appliance should be longer than 5 years. The cheap units I bought in my younger years lasted 20 years, without any problems. The GE units are not quality machines, and repair costs are outrageous. Nice way to try and convince appliance owners to just go buy new units. I can guarantee, I will not buy GE products ever again.

My 4-month old dishwasher started to leak so I called GE to repair since it is still under warranty. Technician said there was a superfluous piece on the gasket which he removed. Dishwasher was fine for about 2 cycles when it started to leak again. As GE do not have a weekend service I had to take a second half day off work. Different technician said the gasket was not pushed in correctly and I should check it each time before running it. Shouldnt this be part of the design - a gasket that stays put?! Ran the dishwasher. I have had two service calls on this dishwasher (Model Number GDT65SMJ0ES) and it is 18 months old. The first was to replace the heating element, which was under warranty. The recent problem was a cut-off switch that will trip when needed. The technician hooked up his computer to turn it back on, a very quick procedure, and it cost us almost $100. This unit should have a trip switch like a vacuum or garbage disposal so that the owner can do it themselves. After that, if the dishwasher still doesnt work, then a call for repair could be made. We have had it just over a month now and not only does it fail to get all of the dishes completely clean (even when run on heavy cycle) it NEVER dries even with the dry boost on. We never overload it or load it incorrectly and still there are dishes and utensils with food residue after its done running which takes hours. I predict it will rust out in about five years (planned obsolescence). The only feature Im happy with is that it is nearly silent. Not hearing it run helps to not remind me how much money we wasted.

I have a GE Profile model JT965SK4SS micro/oven combo. It came new with my new home. A couple years into it, the paint (lining) interior of the microwave start to bubble and peel and eventually started rusting. Had SEARS come out (warranty had expired) who contacted GE and they concluded it was only cosmetic that it doesnt affect the functioning of the microwave. Well, its gotten a LOT WORSE now, bubbled peeling paint all over inside, rust, exposed metal, and the paint is falling onto food. I can NOT even wipe out the interior to clean it, it makes more stuff come off/fall down. I called GE last week, was told by 2 employees that it is NOT safe to use anymore, discontinue use. I had SEARS come again (per GE). The tech said he had NEVER seen anything like it before. He called GE to tell them its not safe, exposed metal, and its dangerous. They again said, well maam, youve gotten 8 years use of it. We wont replace it, but will offer you a discount for a new one ($2,500 out of pocket for me). The person who had offered me the discount (yes, I sent pictures, showed how bad it is) also gave me a tip regarding the unit I have now with the exposed metal and the chance of arcing (spelled? like Ark) if the unit catches on fire, make sure not to open the doors, the fire should contain itself. 2 employees told me its not safe, a 3rd gave me helpful info for if/when it catches on fire... and yet, they still wont replace the unit... and do not stand behind their own products. I plan to go to our local news station, see if they can get anywhere with this, since they wont do anything. Patiently waiting and unable to afford a new unit.

Our Spacemaker microwave, which was installed over the stove August 2008, suddenly stopped heating food. My husband called GE, and their phone advisor advised us the microwave was under warranty. She said her computer screen showed our product registration, and she also saw we owned three other GE products. Fast forward, the GE repairman came and said the microwave repair cost would be around $400. The heating part wasnt under warranty nor was the labor. Mind you, the entire microwave (new) was under $400. We called the GE service center, and they refused to honor what their representative had told us. The most they offered was 50% off. We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher). Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak. Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. In May, we will be putting their terrible product out on our curb for city wide garbage collection. You no longer get what you pay for with GE. Do not buy their products!

GE brags about employing its own service technicians yet, when I called to schedule an appointment to fix our Advantium 120 microwave (3 years old), they told me that unless I provided proof of purchase to the technician, he would charge me even for parts under warranty such as the magnetron tube. This in spite of the fact that they have all the purchase information at their fingertips, as I reported when we registered our purchase. They even told me our date of purchase, had our address, email address, etc. They dismissed my suggestion that an email from them to me that I could show the technician should suffice. After 3 years and severe family health issues, I have sadly misplaced the proof of purchase, not realizing that registering the appliance for warranty provided no real benefit; not even proof that I didnt steal the thing. I am saddened that a company of the former stature of GE would stoop so low to avoid a legitimate warranty repair.

Microwave (GE 2.2 PROFILE) was manufactured in Oct 2015, I ordered in November 2015 and it was delivered January 2016. Installed in March 2016. Was making rattling sound like the case was loose or something. The other night I placed cup of water in microwave, turned on for 1minute and FLAMES shot out (on the inside) from the “squares” on the inside. Does it every time so unplugged. Contacted GE. Was told Out of warranty. Repair person can’t come for 2 weeks. Waiting for return call from customer support. I don’t think flames can be fixed!!

We purchased all GE Profile appliances when we built our house 4 years ago. The dishwasher, for the second time, has turned itself on and melted everything inside and got smoke in the house before we discovered it. I am afraid to have it repaired for fear that it will happen again when we’re not home or asleep. There seems to be a lot of people having this problem, yet I do not qualify for any recall that I can find. I am disjointed in GE to say the least.

The first GE microwave never worked right out of the box. I took it to school and let my Physics students (I am a science teacher) tear it apart and find the trouble. The magnetron was broken. Since it could possibly have happened bringing it home, I decided to let it go and went and bought a new one. This one is less than a year old and has the very scary habit of coming on by itself. When I go in there, it says it is defrosting, or beverage, or any number of reasons. Tonight, I will unplug it, chunk it, and go buy another microwave. One can bet that I will never buy another GE product.

My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS)
My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS) at 9 pm, 2/4/13. At 11 pm, he emptied and put away the dishes. At midnight, we went to bed. At 4:50 am on 2/5/13, we were awakened by a burning smell and discovered the heating element of the dishwasher either turned back on or never turned off. We were unable to touch the granite counter, the front of the dishwasher, and both wooden cabinets on either side of the dishwasher were very warm. The spinning arms and other plastic parts were melted. The only way it could be turned off was to unplug it from the outlet in the cabinet. We were leaving for the airport at 7:30 am on 2/5/13, so needless to say, we would have lost our home if this occurred a couple of hours later. The Assurant tech said it was repairable and ordered a part, which would take at least a week. Assurant customer service had us call GE. When we stated we didnt want the faulty dishwasher repaired, but wanted a new dishwasher, the best the GE customer service rep could offer us was 38-40% off several new different Profile dishwashers. After reading page after page of bad reviews, most of which detail either one or multiple fires from different GE dishwashers, we dont even want another GE dishwasher in our home. We already needed the smart soap dispenser replaced, since it clogs periodically and doesnt wash dishes very well. We also have a countertop GE Profile microwave, and the turntable motor has gone out 3 times so far. Weve purchased the replacement motors ourselves since it isnt under Assurant insurance. Not sure what the resolution will be on the dishwasher, but wed be happy if GE would give us at least $500 toward a different brand dishwasher. I know well never ever buy another GE appliance after this. We wouldnt sleep at night or ever want to go out of the house without unplugging another GE dishwasher, so dont want one.

Model WES1130 GE Microwave - The entire interior of the microwave just started peeling off the coating/finish around 3 years after purchase. The turntable wheel guide path totally disintegrated the finish of the path. It still worked but was so unsightly and disgusting to look into the interior and possibly dangerous to eat anything that had been put inside to cook. I just got rid of it. We bought a top of the line GE microwave oven (model PEB7226DF1BB sn VA201160N) in 2014. It has now failed 5 times in 4 years - 2015, 2016, twice in 2017 & now 2018 - and the repairs have cost us more than the original price of this piece of junk. We bought it from a local dealer, KAM Appliances in Hyannis, MA, but had to resort to an independent repair service, because KAM was not very responsive. I know that I should have given up on it a long time ago, but in the past I always had good luck with GE appliances. Needless to say, I will never buy anything from GE again. I have learned that GE Appliances are now built by Haier, a Chinese company. No wonder they are junk.

I called GE and they sent a technician and fixed it but it left scratches on the stainless steel. In addition, we have had problems with the turntable. Finally on March of 2013, the keypad went out. This of course is past the one-year warranty. I called GE and they told me that they could schedule a service call for $89.95 plus parts and labor. I told them that I could buy another microwave from another company for less than that would probably cost. This microwave was made in Malaysia. I would not recommend any GE appliances that are not made in the US.

Bought at Lowes (GE Slate GDT655SMJES Dishwasher). Even bought the extended warranty. Leaked and buckled the floor while it was under GE warranty on December 12. Had to file with our homeowners insurance to get entire floor replaced, $1000 deductible, twice. They have been out 5 times and still not fixed. Now the new flooring is damaged from same leak. After nearly $5,000 of damages, not to mention the time we have spent you would think a new $700 dishwasher would be cheaper. We bought the refrigerator, double oven, convection stove and dishwasher, matching. At this point seriously considering buying a different brand of dishwasher even though it wont match the slate. Never will we buy GE again, they dont stand behind their product, disappointed in Lowes as well for passing the buck.

I called GE customer relations and was told too bad because it’s not under warranty anymore. They offered a minimal discount on a new similar model. The attitudes of the customer care representative and supervisor took me by surprise. They were curt and told me, Guess you should have gotten the extended warranty. When it comes time to replace my kitchen there will not be any GE products in it. GE does not stand behind their products. I received a recall on my original wall oven with microwave unit, and was only going to receive financial help from GE, if I replaced it with the same unit model JTP90. The unit was only 3 years old at the time. I purchased the new model, which cost $1,200.00, and received a check from GE for $600.00 for the recall, which is already a rip off in my opinion. I had the new unit for 14 months, when the microwave stopped working completely, with no power whatsoever. I thought it had blown a fuse. I took it to the repair center, and they tell me the diode, capacitor, and fuse have all failed. $200 later, it can be fixed, but they have no idea why all three went out at the same time. I, however, do know, GE just makes junk! I will never purchase another GE appliance. Just a side note, my 3 year old dishwasher was also recalled, and it was $600 to replace it with the same model. They sent me a check for $300. It sounds like GE has a good thing going. Make a piece of junk and recall it a few years later, and only give the customer half of the cost to replace it, and only if they buy another GE product! Wow!

One of the most disgusting situations I have ever been in. I purchased a brand new home with all new GE appliances. I have since learned that a technician was sent out twice prior to our walk-through because the superintendent noticed the dishwasher wasnt working properly. I registered all my appliances online. The first time I used the dishwasher, it flooded the kitchen floor, causing the builder to have to repair baseboard and drywall. A technician came out and repaired it. I used it an additional two times and each time I did, it flooded my kitchen and a repairman came out. After the second time, I contacted GE customer care to open a case. The third time, I requested a new dishwasher and the customer care agent, Stephanie, stated that my new dishwasher was a discontinued model and so she suggested one that was a slight upgrade. I agreed to this change and she informed it would take approximately 24 hours to have it approved. I have since talked to seven different people at GE customer care. This was started when a company called Barlows Distributing showed up unannounced at my front door approximately hours after my discussion with GE. They said they were here to install my dishwasher. I was rather shocked, said the timing was impressive, and let them in the door. After they had drained the water standing in the then current dishwasher, they started to put in a replacement. I looked at the box and realized they were placing the same model in. I told them that was unacceptable, because according to GE, I was being approved for a different dishwasher. I then told the tech to stop installing it and called GE. GE had no idea where this dishwasher had come from. Then an unavailable number showed up on my cell phone and when I answered it, the woman spoke my first name and started talking about my dishwasher, stating the builder had ordered a new one. I asked her who she was twice and she would only tell me GE customer care and not her name. I have since learned her name was Julianna. She said that I had to take this dishwasher or I wouldnt have one at all. I took this as a threat. After spending countless hours on the phone with GE opening a case and discussing the issues, picking out an acceptable replacement, I was then told the builder made this decision. Not only was I thrown from person to person over a discontinued model, I was threatened, and further was told by the superintendent of construction that once the dishwasher was installed and we closed on the house, I had to handle all problems through GE. I own the dishwasher, not the builder. I registered the warranty, and I handled it through the proper channels. I feel I need an explicit apology from GE. One of their arms doesnt know what the other arm is doing. During this entire time, I had little use of my right hand and seven fractured vertebrae (for which I am permanently disabled) and had to physically wash 10 boxes of dishes that had been packed up due to our move and stand while doing it. GE has caused me property damage, stress, and severe physical pain, yet threatens me and yanks me from person to person. This is my house, my dishwasher, and this matter should have been handled directly with me, instead of inviting someone into my house that I had no connection to or knowledge of. The really sad thing is that I just purchased and had installed a $6500 water softener and reverse osmosis system for the whole house, manufactured by guess who...GE.

I contacted by phone GEs customer service department (800-386-1215) on 2 separate occasions. The most recent was on 2/18/13. About 4 1/2 years ago, when we purchased our new house, we bought all new GE appliances for our kitchen and laundry room. My biggest complaint is with our dishwasher. The top and bottom racks are rusting and most of the prongs have broken off as a result. This should not happen for an appliance that is only about 4 1/2 years old. Their response was that I could purchase both the top and bottom rack. Why would I purchase the same racks only to have it happen again? Clearly this is happening because they used a poor quality steel. There was a recall not too long ago on our dishwasher and the service tech who came out to fix the recall couldnt believe how badly the racks have rusted. I understand there is no warranty; however, you would think or hope that the racks would last a lot longer than 4 1/2 years. I am very disappointed in the quality and the lack of help regarding this matter.

I have had a few cheap microwaves but at this point in my life I wanted to buy a good quality microwave that would last. Well I bought a 200 dollar GE microwave in February. 3 months later it went out on me. I did hard and soft reset numerous times with no success. They offered me a discounted check to replace it and it would take 4-6s weeks to receive. Instead we returned to place of purchase and they gave us a floor model to replace it. All was well for 2 months when lo and behold this one started doing the same thing. No amount of resetting would make it run. It went out cooking corn on the cob. Why is this so hard to keep running? Their response this time was a goodwill rebate certificate to purchase only a GE microwave. Why in heavens name would I want another one? It only lasts a couple of months and who is to say the 3rd replacement will not be the same.

I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005.
I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005. These appliances are not even seven years old and I have had the side-by-side fridge repaired several times with no true fix to the problem. They charged me to repair the tank in the fridge that the water line leads out from and into the freezer door. Another repair man said that was never the problem and that the seal on the freezer door is broken from inside the door (a common problem) and freezes up the water line, so no filtered water comes out. They wanted to charge me $800 for a new door with no guarantee that it won’t happen again! My cook-top downdraft has shorted out three times because of a faulty design issue. Water and moisture can get up under the switch, which shorts it out. There were three different repairs for the same issue. Last time the same service man repaired the problem and he was so careless. He got silicone all over the granite counters and switch, which he didnt check before leaving! I called him back to my house before he even got out of the neighborhood. Ultimately, he admitted he screwed up and ordered me yet another switch. Now, just today, my Monogram dishwasher started billowing black smoke. I called GE to find that the unit has been recalled for electrical shock and fires. They said I could have it repaired (if the service man deems it repairable) or it’s $400 towards a new unit. Is this company for real? How many consumers do they have to lose before they wake up? If I werent home my house could have burnt to the ground or, worse, one of our kids or us could have been severely hurt or worse. Do they not realize the liability they would have at that point if the worst would have happened? And they have two phone numbers and my address on file. Why on earth would they not contact me to tell me of the recall? Are they holding their breath and crossing their fingers that nothing too bad will happen? I have a Whirlpool fridge/freezer that is 18 years old and in my garage; nevertheless, it has never given me an ounce of trouble. I will never buy another GE appliance again and will tell anyone I know the same, including the several new home builders I work with. There are too many other companies out there that will back up their quality products. I have called into GE on my latest problems. And if I dont get satisfaction (i.e., brand new units), I have no issues contacting the attorney general. There are forms online that can be downloaded so a formal complaint can be filed. I urge anyone else to do the same.

I purchased this GE Adora dishwasher about 3 years ago from Home Depot and it cost about $550 which I think should translate into a well made dishwasher. I only run it about twice a week so it gets low use. On inspection this month I noticed the racks were already starting to rust and that there was a tear in the door gasket. I called the 800 number for GE consumers and they told me they could order me the racks for $200 a piece and that they would send out a repairman for $139 plus the $40 part. This is more than the dishwasher cost. They also told me I should have purchased the extended warranty and that this particular dishwasher has only a one year warranty. What happened to GE? Have a six-year-old GE Tall Tub Café dishwasher (model#GHDT168V00SS) I purchased at Home Depot in Denver. Also purchased a 5 Year Extended Warranty that I assumed was through GEs Extended Warranty Opportunity. The dishwasher suddenly began leaking and ruined our hardwood floors (I know, wood floors in kitchen not good; tell that to the builder). I called GEs customer care number and basically talked to a scripted robot. You dont have a warranty through GE, its a third-part insurer such as Assurant, I was told. Not worth repairing, and the warranty expired a few months ago. I know parts wear out, but for heavens sake, cant they build a dishwasher that doesnt leak from the bottom, underneath the unit, where water will seep unbeknownst to people, eventually destroying the floor? Guess not. So, no more GE appliances EVER. PERIOD! Switched to Samsung, LG and Maytag. Now, gotta spend a couple grand ($2K+) to repair the hardwood floor.

The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something
The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something unit apartment complex caught fire in June 2014. The manufacture date is listed as December 2012. I moved into the unit in June 2013 and the microwave was brand new still and had never been used by anyone else. I myself rarely use the microwave and only use it for heating up cold food that I previously cooked on the stove top. After heating up rice using the 2 minute express option and removing the food from the microwave, I had gone to the restroom for 30 seconds only to return and find the microwave on fire. The fire ignited from the ceiling of the microwave. I had initially intended on going to the bathroom to take a shower but needed to open a new bar of soap, so I had only returned to the kitchen to throw the soap packaging in the trash. Had I not done the latter, my entire apartment could have caught fire and it would have been difficult if not impossible for me to escape from my third floor apartment. Reading all of these complaints it is really hard to believe that a government agency has not stepped in and forced GE to STOP MAKING MICROWAVES! From the complaints on this board it is clear to see that every year GE continues to make appliances that put consumers safety and lives at risk. You would think that after so many recalls that they would have perfected their product by now, but that is not the case. It almost seems as though they are just slapping new model and serial numbers on the same BAD product. The management in my building contacted GE and my microwave was replaced with another GE microwave manufactured in 2014. I did not want another GE microwave, but I only rent so I didnt have a choice. I used the microwave once so far and the fan automatically came on after 2 minutes of use. It does state inside the microwave that the fan may come on automatically, but I just dont trust this brand anymore. I have a countertop microwave that works perfectly fine that Ive owned for over 15 years that I will be using. I will unplug the GE microwave and just keep it for aesthetic purposes, since thats all its good for.

First, as a new homeowner blessed with select builder-provided appliances, I never imagined I would be authoring this letter 4 months after closing on the new home. Your friggin’ microwave oven light mechanism truly sucks! I lost the two bulbs a week or so ago and purchased two more at the cost of approximately $10, even though a one-year warranty was stated. That was okay, as I was more interested in fixing the problem versus starting some long-range purchase interest. So, and this is the most aggravating aspect, I have the correct pins and life is ** good, and as I attempt to insert the first, the ** pin breaks off. Okay, so I reflect on the horrific engineering of the mechanism, and I softly” align the second of the two bulbs, and the ** pin breaks off again. ** is my predominant theme tonight. As well, believe me, I am going to inform Taylor-Morrison that their respective selection of your friggin’ lousy pieces of crap is corrupt and misguided. You suck, G.E.! I’m moving forward.

Ahhhh me, here we go again! Its no wonder that the state of business in this country is not as solid as it could be. I purchased your GE dishwasher, Model #GDF540HSF2SS, Serial # ZA703816B, on 01/19/2014 from Lowes Home Centers, 3805 Northern Blvd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124. It was delivered and installed soon after. Soon after that, mid to late July, it began to flood our kitchen. A service call had to be made to replace the tub gaskets. Covered under initial 1 year warranty. Here it is the 5th of November, 2015 and now the unit does not function at all. A service diagnostics call performed today the 6th of November to ascertain its ailment to the tune of $89.00! (No, we didnt purchase the Extended Warranty. My belief has always been that the option to purchase an extended warranty is; 1) an opportunity for the company to make extra money on the sales of a product, and 2) an admission by the manufacturer that the product is probably not well made and will probably break down sometime in the near future!) I guess that future is here for this product! It almost lasted 2 YEARS!! Deplorable! The last dishwasher I had was almost 20 years old and the only service to it was to replace a water hose (which I did myself). Diagnostics proved that the electronic motherboard failed! In addition to the inconvenience and the $89.00, Id be willing to bet that the replacement part for this unit will cost 1/2 of the original purchase price of $599.00! AND I WAS CORRECT; the replacement board will cost $269.00 to replace (part and labor)!!! What a rip-off! I will never purchase another GE product as long as I live! And I will go online and register my opinion and complaint about this product with the Consumer Services Bureau and any place else that I can find to vent electronically!Recently the Sandoval Economic Alliance attempted to lure GE to establish their Headquarters here in New Mexico. For various reasons, we did not make GEs shortlist for consideration. I am thankful that we didnt make it! Why would our state want such a crappy company embarrassing our state with their crappy products? I will be sending a copy of this complaint to them as well.

I may be speaking too soon because I need to run my dishwasher again to make sure the minor leak truly has been fixed, but I am very impressed with the responsiveness of GE customer support. There was virtually no wait to talk to a rep about my 2-month-old dishwasher with a drip (plus water was collecting inside). Less than twenty four hours after my call, a friendly man was at my door to fully diagnose and then correct the issue. This was the cheapest, bottom-of-the line model that they so quickly came to service! Now in an ideal world, a new dishwasher wouldnt need any servicing at all, but I think all dishwashers are pretty finicky so at the moment, Im pleased.

I have a GE over the range microwave oven purchased in 2011. 4 years old, hardly out of its service life. In 2013, while heating up my lunch, I heard a loud buzzing and popping noise. The plastic hooks that hold up a metal tray (yes, the unit comes with a metal tray) in the microwave oven caught fire. I called GE and demanded they repair the unit, they said they were not responsible since it was out of the warranty period. Having experience in the insurance industry, I reminded them about product liability, if this is a common occurrence, there would be potential liability issues for GE. The service tech said they would send someone out free of charge to repair the unit. He replaced the two hooks that fried and said they were no longer responsible for unit. Today, 01/28/15, we just had it happen again. One more hook caught fire. Hey GE, do you really think I will buy any kind of appliance from you again when you make a defective product and dont stand behind it? I will not. I would recommend people do your research carefully when buying a microwave oven, especially one from GE. I would recommend anyone do research when buying any kind of GE product since, in my opinion, they clearly do not care about their customers.

I purchased this GE Profile dishwasher last June, I paid $1,499.00 for it and have had three (3) service calls. The first one said the water is not hot enough, the second one said run the water in sink and get hot before you use the dishwasher. The tech was here again this morning and called in to tech services and was told put plates on the right side of the rack only and the dishes will get clean. Are they kidding me? I called the 800 number for customer service and was told by Dominic (rep in customer service) that they would replace the dishwasher and allow me a 40% discount on a new one because this one is working as designed. It is my understanding that the dishwasher should wash dishes, so that tells me it is not working as designed. I want a new dishwasher, preferably one that washes the dishes and not one that I have to pay an additional 60%. Are you kidding me? This is not right. I have read the reviews on this dishwasher and it seems everyone who purchased the dishwasher I have are having the same problems and it is not working as designed. Please let me know asap when the replacement dishwasher will be delivered. I will not pay an additional 60% for another. It is not right that you would keep making excuses until warranty runs out. I notified you of this problem one month after I purchased it and I have lived with this problem for almost one year and now you tell me that you will give me a discount on a new one. I have already paid for a new dishwasher and that is what I expect in return. Thank you. I expect to hear from you soon.

I bought a brand new GE Spacesaver OTR mount Microwave (Model # jnm1851dmbb) and had installed in my new home by the appliance shop where I purchased it in November, 2010. I am a widow and I use the microwave maybe 3-4 times per week, and take very good care of it. I went to steam some fresh veggies this evening and the whole unit just went dead. There’s no fan, light, or keypad. It is plugged in and I did not blow a fuse or switch. I checked them all. It’s just plain broken after less than 2 years of very light use. It’s a piece of junk! I’ll be buying another brand this time. I will never buy a GE again! It’s a junk, junk and junk!

I recently purchased a GE Profile 1.9 microwave oven from Home Depot less than a year ago. Last week I went to remove something that I had cooked and went to close the door and it would not stay shut. I ended up getting some masking tape to try and tape it shut in order to keep the light from staying on and burning out until morning when I could get a better look at it, thinking that it had to be something small that could be taken care of without any problem. Hinge adjustment, something getting in the way that I couldnt see, etc, etc. Wrong! I have been over this door with a fine tooth comb and there is nothing that I can see that is preventing it from staying closed, not only that but according to everything that I have read, I am very lucky that I didnt get fried while trying to figure out if the latching mechanism was functioning correctly. I am not even going to go through the long drawn out process of dealing with GE over this due to the simple fact that I have been there done that with my dishwasher that showed up with the front panel dented a few years back from the factory and I ended up blaming the place that I had purchased it through instead of GE and have since found out by reading other complaints that this seems to be something that is not unusual when it comes to GE appliances. I spent over 1100.00 dollars on the dishwasher and they only replaced the panel instead of giving me a new one, and I have never been satisfied with the way that it operates, and it was a very long and drawn out process and I am just not willing to spend the time again on another one of their products. It is unfortunate that we have entered a time where customer satisfaction means nothing, and the days of caring about having repeat business from a satisfied customer are over. The prices continue to rise on the things that we have become to depend on and cant seem to live without, but the quality and workmanship have not only diminished but also present safety threats. I will never purchase another GE anything and I am looking forward to the day when we all have finally had enough of this and do something that makes these companies stand behind the products that they sell and quits ripping the consumer off. Its rampant across the board no matter what you buy, and there should be laws in place in order to keep it from happening. We have laws for everything else, why not have a couple that protect the consumer and their pocket books.

I had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when I purchased my home. Th
I had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when I purchased my home. The dishwasher had a fire in the wiring harness for the energy save drying switch. The dishwasher was under warranty and was repaired by GE without issue, and they told me it was safe. About 2 years later, GE recalled the dishwasher for having started numerous fires throughout the country. As part of the recall program, GE offered incentives towards the purchase of a new dishwasher; however, unless you purchased another GE dishwasher, you received virtually nothing. I purchased the top of the line GE Triton performance plus dishwasher and had it professionally installed, and given my previous dishwashers history, I purchased an extended warranty from GE. This new allegedly top of the line dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen, causing several thousand dollars in damage to the floor / sub floor and ceiling below. GE was contacted, came out, and made a repair; and my damage claim was paid by GEs insurance carrier Electric insurance. Once again, 2 years later, this same dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen and downstairs. I contacted GE and found that my warranty had been sold by GE to an outside company named Assurant without my knowledge. They were unable to provide me with a service appointment for about 2 weeks and advised me not to touch anything until the damage was documented by a GE technician or my damage claim would be denied. I contacted GE customer service and explained the circumstances and that the water damage would need to be mitigated in order to prevent additional damage to my home. GE scheduled a sooner appointment, but they failed to show up. I called GE again; they rescheduled for the following day and failed to show again. GE was re-contacted, and they scheduled a third appointment with A&E, a GE affiliated outside repair service. This time, the technician arrived but was unable to do anything unless I made a cash payment to him, as GE failed to include my extended warranty information when they booked my appointment. I re-contacted GE, and the next available appointment date was more than two weeks away. I was concerned that the water damage would cause mold and create an electrical hazard due to wet wiring, and the water caused the laminate floor and sub floor in my kitchen and downstairs den to warp and buckle. I was forced to contact my homeowners insurance in order to get this damage addressed. GE has been unable to get anyone to my home to address the situation. In total, I have spent about 16 hours on the telephone remaining on hold an average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours for each call, only to be told there was nothing they could do or that no supervisor was available or authorized to do anything. Assurant advised me they would look into it and get back to me, but I have yet to receive a return call. GE corporate headquarters was contacted, and they were polite but unable to accomplish anything either. I am removing the appliance myself and having it replaced at my own expense with any brand other than GE. I would strongly urge anyone making an appliance purchase to choose another brand; GEs appliances, customer service, and repair service are all unreliable and well below standards based on the hundreds of dollars we spend on appliances. My decision to purchase a GE dishwasher has resulted in damage to my home in excess of $10,000.00 and an unbelievable amount of frustration and aggravation waiting for repair personnel that dont show and waiting on hold to speak to people who can do nothing for you. If I performed this badly at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago. Learn from my situation and dont buy GE!

After many searches trying to do due diligence, we bought a GE dishwasher online Nov 2014. It was delivered and installed two weeks later. The day (Saturday) after delivery we loaded it and started the cycle; water went in, the circulation pump started and then the machine stalled. The machine was reset pumped out, restarted but no further improvement.Called the GE service number and after a 20 minute wait was informed that a request would be placed to a local service company. Monday the local service company (30 miles away) called to inform us they had to reject the service request and that GE would set up another. Three days later GE was called again. They were unaware that the service request was rejected so had not attempted to find someone else. They could not get another company to respond and told us to arrange the service call ourselves, pay the bill and submit it to them.My wife and I are now wanting to return the machine but were informed we would have to go through the local Home Depot. They informed us that we would need to have GE arrange it. GE was called back and informed us that the dishwasher could not be returned as long as it could be repaired which leaves it to their discretion. The process to arrange these things took a long time, many delays and many phone calls back and forth to Home Depot and GE. The calls to GE often took 15 minutes to get someone who would forward the call to the service rep which placed back in another 15 minute queue. Do not believe that Home Depot will take returns. The advertising makes you believe they will take but they do not without GEs RGA which GE is reluctant to provide. Avoid GE. I am not the first to find out that GE warranty (one year) and service is poor and that they are more than willing to wait out the warranty to leave their customers with a possible lemon. Other dishwashers are available with 5 year warranties.

If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.

It started in the dishwasher, which was off, and destroyed the unit. Repairs will be costly due to fire restoration required as well as the need to now replace more than just a dishwasher. No one ever followed up with me, I had to call to check on the status of my claim EVERY time. The request for a replacement dishwasher after two weeks was denied because the part was going to be available in another week, but then I wouldnt receive the part for a minimum of another week after that. When I asked to speak to a superior she refused and told me no one was available. So I was forewarned by my family of nightmare experiences they had with GE appliances over the course of the last 50 years of our family. I just bought a home with 2 GE dishwashers that are both under 5 years old, and both are malfunctioning terribly. The one has leaked from the bottom and created severe water damage, and the other will not drain. Just an affirmation of the bad experiences my family has had in the past. Cheaply made, and often the go to appliances installed in manufactured and new homes. Had a service technician come out after speaking with GE on the phone and they assured me it was cost free. After the technician came out and told me I was being billed $105 for the call, and it would cost an additional $255 to fix the washing machine. The tech was not very friendly or helpful, and his only concern was collecting the bill. Avoid these products!
