I bought a JVM3670SK05 a little under two years ago. It is an above the cooktop vent-a-hood microwave. I believed I was buying a quality unit. Now everything is working, but there’s no heat! Even the cheap units from Walmart work longer than this expensive piece of crap! Now I either have to spend enough to buy a new hood for cooktop and new microwave or pay the same price and buy parts in hope that they will not go out again. Not really feeling lucky with the GE product.

This dishwasher was brand new in our new house. It didnt work right from day one. GE service came out 3 times to repair. The first 2 times the GE tech was here all of 5-10 minutes and didnt repair it either. The 3rd time the tech actually pulled out the dishwasher and found the problem and fixed it. Their customer service was terrible.

Bought a GE Dishwasher on March 31st 2017. Used it in April & May, left June 1st for the summer so dishwasher was not used for 2 mo. Tried to use it in August when we got back it didnt work. Would not pump water. Called GE. They sent a service tech. out, replaced the pump, still didnt work. So next week they came out again & this time ordered a Computer board. Ever since then they have came out twice a month to repair dishwasher. Always something different. I requested 3 different times to have it replaced they refused. So I straight up asked if they were just trying to run me out of warranty & then drop me. Well, guess what - they came out for the last time on 4/5/2018 to repair it for the last time out of warranty. They turned me down every time to just replace it. WORST PRODUCT EVER. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, POOR POOR POOR.

Purchased the Maytag MDB7749SBM stainless steel dishwasher in December 2013. The dishwasher and install totaled $700, which for that price and with Maytags past reputation, I wrongly assumed that the dishwasher would last a long time. In May 2016, slightly over 2 years, the dishwasher started having issues with the control panel. The control lock would randomly activate. I would have to reset the circuit breaker daily, leaving it off for around 10 minutes. Even with trying to go through all the steps to resolve the issue, resetting it from the circuit breaker, sequence on the control panel, the dishwasher wouldnt work. I called Maytag and after 40 minutes on hold, they finally answered. They wanted $89 for a service call and for the $143 part, plus labor. Might as well just replace it with another brand like GE, or Samsung.

The little trap door which releases soap stopped opening when the GE top-of-the-line Profile dishwasher was one week past its warranty. Because of the design, all kinds of crud collects under the hinged door, meaning there is ALWAYS an odor unless we get down, hands and knees, to scrub it out. Features are fine -- as long as they work. Having a dishwasher that doesnt even dispense soap and cleanser isnt worth much, limiting us to the automatic feed with shine liquid. Stainless steel outside is impossible to keep clean. There are streaks and blotches within minutes of polishing with Sheela Shine. Suspect it has something to do with the humidity where we live, but it shouldnt happen. I find it strange that GE is perpetually sending me warranty extension offers for my refrigerator (which never fails), but nary an offer for the dishwasher or microwave/convection oven in the Profile line which have each needed repairs twice in the three years since purchase.

The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working
The GE microwave that was installed in our new home (2018) stopped working in June 2020, after the nuclear reactor “blew up”. Which could have been a dangerous situation. I was told by Assurant Insurance Company that it was no longer covered by the 1 year insurance policy, and if I purchased a new policy for $241.00, they would repair it or replace it. After they discovered it was not repairable, they denied the ”replace it” part and reimbursed the money for the policy. GE agreed to sell me a new microwave at a discounted price, which I agreed to. The replacement microwave was delivered damaged, in October 2020. After many calls and waiting hours on hold, service came out and said it was “not repairable“. Again, phone calls to GE Customer Relations and reexplaining the problem, I was told they did not have a microwave in stock to replace it. However, after further searching, one was found, and would be delivered. On 10/23/20, I received a phone call from the freight company that the microwave was being delivered the following day, but they had the wrong address! it was a previous address. Where that address came from is a mystery as we never had GE appliances delivered to that address. The freight company was not authorized to change the address in the system, so another call to GE. I am still waiting for a new microwave! I can’t even begin to count the number of times I have called GE, waited on hold or call-back, waited for service, and been told I have the wrong case number. I have all new GE Profile appliances, all have had service for problems. I will NEVER buy another GE appliance. Their service department and Customer Relations department is disorganized and incompetent. GE appliance are not quality products.

My GE dishwasher model #GDF570ddF855 is the worst dishwasher Ive ever owned. I have had 4. Ive had this model for 6 months. This model is hard to turn or to figure out if it is turned on. Right now its locked up and Im following the direction to unlock but it wont unlock. So theres no real on/off button! There needs to be a control on the inside of door where you can turn the lock button. Im writing this so others wont buy this model as they will be thoroughly dissatisfied. Maybe all GE dishwashers are like this? This one sucks...

We purchased all GE Profile appliances when we built our house 4 years ago. The dishwasher, for the second time, has turned itself on and melted everything inside and got smoke in the house before we discovered it. I am afraid to have it repaired for fear that it will happen again when we’re not home or asleep. There seems to be a lot of people having this problem, yet I do not qualify for any recall that I can find. I am disjointed in GE to say the least.

I bought a GE PEB7227 Profile Microwave and after 6 months the door latch breaks. Service tech comes and says, Sorry parts are back ordered for 3 months (including new frame due to damage done to it getting the thing open). I call GE customer care. Explain that its obviously cheaper to drop ship me a new unit (and I will waive the new frame) than all of the parts, frame and a second call to fix the unit. Their answer, buy a new unit at a discount or simply go without a microwave for 3 months. Add me to the list of victims trying to warn others to NEVER buy a GE product.

The first GE microwave never worked right out of the box. I took it to school and let my Physics students (I am a science teacher) tear it apart and find the trouble. The magnetron was broken. Since it could possibly have happened bringing it home, I decided to let it go and went and bought a new one. This one is less than a year old and has the very scary habit of coming on by itself. When I go in there, it says it is defrosting, or beverage, or any number of reasons. Tonight, I will unplug it, chunk it, and go buy another microwave. One can bet that I will never buy another GE product.

My GE Profile dishwasher is now 4 years old and Ive put up with it not cleaning well. For the last 3 years, I get a cloudy gray film over the dishes and finally figured out what is happening!! There is a gray rubber/plastic border around the bottom screen piece that has all the holes in it and covers most of the bottom of the dishwasher. I gently scraped with my finger and lo and behold its like gray putty!! So, the whole border of this gray rubber/plastic is disintegrating!! I had a 4 year warranty from Sears and they sent out a repairman. He is just going to order that whole screen part and replace it. He scraped the rubber and it came off for him too!! He said he never saw that before. He said it is probably the fault of my detergent which comes from health food stores and NOT the Cascade that they promote. Anyway, now I know where the gray film is coming from... Weve probably been consuming this for 4 years, a little at a time (NOT GOOD)!!! Im not thrilled with Cascade either!! Probably my LAST GE product to buy!!

My husband and I replaced all the appliances in our new home 4 years ago with GE Profile double oven, cooktop and built in microwave. All the appliances are of poor quality and do not cook the way we are accustomed to. But the microwave has had a particularly bad history. Within one year, it completely quit working and we had to replace several fuses and a board. Over the past couple of months, the keypad continually quits working and we have to climb up on a stool, unplug the microwave to reset it. Only then will it work for us to heat something. However, the keypad does not accurately reflect the task we are trying to use. I have had many microwaves over the years and I have NEVER had to repair one before. This particular brand of microwave was produced in Malaysia in July 2008. Very, very poor quality. No resolve from GE or from Sears where we bought it. I am done with GE and with SEARS.

Our Spacemaker microwave, which was installed over the stove August 2008, suddenly stopped heating food. My husband called GE, and their phone advisor advised us the microwave was under warranty. She said her computer screen showed our product registration, and she also saw we owned three other GE products. Fast forward, the GE repairman came and said the microwave repair cost would be around $400. The heating part wasnt under warranty nor was the labor. Mind you, the entire microwave (new) was under $400. We called the GE service center, and they refused to honor what their representative had told us. The most they offered was 50% off. I dont accept the premise that a new appliance should only last four years. I will replace my unusable microwave with a competitor’s brand and will pledge never to purchase a GE appliance again. I will also sell my GE stock, for I now understand why its going nowhere.

I bought this dishwasher GLDT690TBB-00 on 05/12. Its not even 2 yrs old. I had some minor complaints about how hard it was to fit bowls, how the utensil rack wasnt easily accessible, how long the cycles took, how it had to be vented right after a cycle to keep clean dishes from smelling musty... But I was willing to put up with that. I spent about $700 new. The dishes did come out clean, if I stacked them properly. I only used it when full, about 2x/week, as I am an aging widow & live alone. It stopped functioning a few days ago. Control panel lit up, a little water came in, but no action with spray, etc. Called a local repair company today. They say the control panel is shorted out, and that in turn burned out the motor. The repair cost would have been $524.61. REALLY? Not doing that! Very disgusted. Ill never buy GE again. Last KitchenAid lasted 12 yrs, but as all the repair guys say: They dont make em like they used to! Too many bells & whistles. All I require is clean dishes, and for the appliance to do its job.

We purchased a new home in 2014 with all new GE appliances. The dishwasher has never cleaned the dishes. I have to wash the dishes before I load them in the dishwasher. I might as well use the dishwasher as a drying rack. We had a service person come out before the warranty expired. We have used all of the proper cleaning recommendations and setting per the service person. Not even 2 years later, the dishwasher started leaking and ruining our hardwoods. The dishwasher was quiet but then started making a horrible noise and a burning smell emanated when door was opened. Unfortunately all of our kitchen appliances are GE. If we replace any of the appliances, they will not be GE. I will also be getting in touch with the builder of our home to let them know that GE appliances are not reliable. Less than three years ago, I purchased a microwave oven wall unit to replace an existing unit. Due to the size of the built-in cabinet, I was limited in choices. The cost of the unit was $2400. A few months ago, the interior wall of the unit began rusting and the enamel is peeling. I contacted the customer service dept via e-mail on their site. I was asked to send pictures and then informed that I should stop using the unit immediately due to the danger of arcing. I was also told that because I did not purchase the extended warranty, the best that GE could offer me was a new unit for $800. I asked for names of warranty companies and was given one name and number but told there were others that also offered the same service. I called this company and they clearly told me that the peeling and chipping was a manufacturer’s defect and would not have been covered by an extended warranty had I purchased one from any company. Then I contacted the GE repair service center and spoke with them. The man who answered explained that this is a cosmetic problem and that there was no danger of the microwave arcing unless there was less food in the microwave than the size of the area that was chipping. I am very disappointed in the response of GE, the pressure placed on me to make a decision in 7 days or the offer would be withdrawn, and the fact that the service department and the consumer service (complaint) department gave me entirely different responses to the same information and problem. I will probably have my cabinet rebuilt to avoid having to replace this unit with another GE appliance. Who would pay $$1600 for the use of a microwave/oven unit for less than three years? Unfortunately, GE seems to be the only company that makes a unit that fits the existing cabinet in my kitchen. Disappointing to say the least.

Excellent. The dishwasher cleans dirty dishes and dries them as I expect. We use all the features periodically, usually the RINSE & Normal wash daily. We rarely use the China setting, but we do use the pots and pans and hygienic features as well. We also occasionally use the delayed start feature. Our dishwasher is a decent size four our family for daily use and for large get-togethers. Our house came with a WHITE dishwasher, which were not totally fond of as a personal preference, BUT, its LOOK and design are fine by our standards. We have had a problem with the door catching on the screw that holds the dishwasher in the cabinet. Seems like a simple fix, but it hasnt been. In 2008 I redid the entire kitchen and purchased all GE Profile stainless steel appliances thinking I was purchasing quality items. Well, it didnt take long before the dishwasher broke but it was fixed for free by GE under a recall. However, now the refrigerator has begun to leak under the right corner of the ice/water dispenser located on exterior of freezer door and the microwave touchpad has also failed as I need to press below the actual keys for it to work half the time. When I spoke with GE customer service they basically told me there was nothing they could do with the refrigerator, I would have to call a repairman and have it looked at or pay their $100 diagnosis fee.The microwave they told me had issues with that particular touchpad and had it broken within first 5 years they would have repaired it for free under their recall program. But since its 7 1/2 years old I would have to buy the touchpad which normally only lasts for 6 months to 1 year or buy a new GE microwave and they would offer a rebate. Im so unhappy with their customer service and poor reliability of their products that Ive passed on each offer as I dont want to contribute another penny to a company that in my opinion is unethical and has horrible reliability. 3 out of 4 of my fancy GE Profile stainless appliances have broken! We recently purchased our second dishwasher in 16+ years (the other one (a Kenmore) is still running fabulously but staying with the sale of our former home - however I am tempted to swap it out with this new one from GE). This beautiful inside and out dishwasher has a couple main flaws that has me wanting my old dishwasher back. The buttons on the front are super sensitive, causing it to come on countless times a day as we get items out of cabinet above. This is not something we thought about. Our old one had the controls on the front but they were under plastic that you pushed... not actual buttons like this one.The second issue is minor. The rack on the bottom is set up very wide on one side and our dinner plates are smaller than some and they do not sit firmly in between the tines. The spacing is great for larger plates or serving items but not for medium size plates. We use a lot of bowls so the other side with closer together tines is always full. Like I said just a minor flaw. Lastly, the unit puts off a high-pitched sound during certain parts of the cycle. It is not really loud but it is bothersome if we are still in the kitchen when it is running.

Ive owned my GE Profile dishwasher for 6 years. Two months ago the pump had to be replaced and this is quite an expensive item. Then the other day I went to open the dishwasher and the doors spring gave away, hence slamming to the floor and crushing my big toe. The repairman said it was not the spring that broke but the link that holds the spring in place. The spring is actually quite strong but the link is just a flimsy piece of plastic. We are both anxious to see if the replacement link he ordered has been made stronger and are replacing both just to be sure it doesnt happen again. Although my toe isnt broken, it is extremely bruised and painful so I am going to be ever cautious of opening the dishwasher again.

I bought a GE dishwasher 2 years ago. The control board went out so I had a repairman come to fix it. They had to order the board from GE directly and it took 1 month or more to get the part. Then it lasted one day! Now they are telling me it cant be fixed. Really??? I expect a dishwasher to last longer than 2 years. I also bought a GE microwave that only lasted 2 years. I replaced it with Whirlpool. GE is crap now and that use to be all I bought. Not anymore. I will never spend any money on GE appliances any more.

I like microwaves to a point. If my wife puts my dinner the refrigerator and I take it out and put it into the microwave if the dinner has let’s say pork chops, mashed potatoes, peas everything gets cooked except the mashed potatoes. They’re always cold and sometimes the peas will pop. There’s never a good medium for all foods at once and if you have any bread or biscuits you have to take it out after 15 seconds. The same goes with turkey cranberry stuffing and other things that go on the plate at Thanksgiving. Some stuff gets very hot. Some stuff stays cold.

Bought model DDT575SMFES less than a month ago (along with a new microwave, stove and fridge) from the Home Depot. When the appliances were delivered the stove had some flaws in it so it had to be replaced. The dishwasher is a whole other story. It worked fine for a week but now it takes forever to get it to turn on. We try and try but it just beeps and the light flashes. Once we do get it turned on to stops before completing the cycle. If it does run a full cycle the soap dispenser does not dispense the soap. I wish I would have looked at this site before purchasing these GE appliances. Total junk and will NEVER buy anything GE again if I can help it. No responses back from GE and from what I read dont expect much from them. Now we will not be able to match the Slate with another brand and are stuck here.

It is about six years old, great dishwasher. The bad part is the new detergent! GE profile, pre-rinse, preheat water, everything, including enough water. Hold everything, unfortunately, now aluminum must be hand washed. Good looking, curved front. Its great, I shudder to think what the new low water usage ones will be like. I HATE my new low water usage washing machine. I HATE the reformulated dishwasher detergent, can be used on anything aluminum, now I use lots more water hand washing all aluminum items!!!

I have a GE Profile dishwasher that is only 1 1/2 years old and the control panel has stopped working 2 times. The first time, it’s under warranty and it repair took place for a couple of minutes. The second time, it’s not under warranty and they want to charge $89 just for the service call, parts and labor. Crazy. That’s a $1000-plus appliance that has already broken two times. I cant run the dishwasher on any setting except the one that it decides to choose for us. Yes, it changes whenever it feels like it. This was one of their higher end dishwashers and, to be honest, it really doesnt clean any better than a lower end one that I had at a previous home.

New house and all appliances came w/ it, used washer once to make sure plumbed correctly. It is the best storage container and no one looks in it... by not using it saved $38 a month in water bill and controlled water usage, throwing used water out on plants in drought, if need to sterilize put bleach in rinse water. I had 10 family members may have to use it other than for storage. Love to get a clothes pole for hanging laundry but God given rights of free sun and drying has been removed from us by associations. My machine is there if I need it. But great multipurpose and never complains... course after 13 years, crumbs in bottom and should run soon to clean it out... Its black and as this was a speculation home, builders chose colors... it doesnt show dirt as white appliances does... would buy same color again.. although real dark with oak kitchen.

We have a GE Profile Microwave (PNM1871SM3SS) that is only 3 years old and is reporting KEYPAD SHORTED - SERVICE MAY BE REQUIRED. We called GE service repair and told them the exact message. The service guy shows up and says all he has in his order is General other service needed and that he doesnt have the keypad panel. Gives us an estimate of $501 to repair it. Tells us a new one costs $400 and with a coupon he can give us it will be $100 less. We were charged $99 for this visit which basically lasted 10 minutes (way to go GE on making money off faulty devices you sell). The service-person also told us that the average life was 10 years for these, but this one crapped out in 3. He said if we get another GE microwave, it will fit right in there and that I can do it myself if I am handy but after reading all the reviews online, I am skeptical whether I should get a GE microwave again or not!

The other day, while cooking in the microwave it started to spark at the point where the shelf sat on a small clip. The inside of the oven is ruined. Adora Microwave - door falling apart: This microwave is supposed to be installed above a range. The materials are not suited to this. The plastic door has disintegrated. We have got through 2 handles. I took the 2nd one off to replace it and the plastic that holds the glass in place just disintegrated onto the floor along with much other plastic parts. Why is the door plastic in the first place if they cannot make it from a heatproof material? Only 4 years old and we are going to have to junk it. When the first handle failed under warranty GE said that it was not covered as it is a plastic part! They finally covered it after a long conversation.

We bought a microwave oven (CVM1790SS2SS, ZA301193K) for our new house some 4.5 yers ago. The flimsy, but very shiny, metal cover on the door handle split and the resulting sharp, but hidden, edge cut my finger. We covered it up with scotch tape, and ordered a replacement for the handle. We paid GE $102 (other folk sell it for $76, as we later discovered). There were no useable installation instructions. Our extremely competent handyman could not figure out how to do it and called GE for help at 800 636-2005. He was rudely dismissed and was told to look for instructions on Youtube! He spent 2 hours to install the replacement part. The screws that came with it, were not quite right. Ill never buy another GE appliance in my life. My life partner/bf moved into a semi flipped 10 yr old home. Every single appliance required to be replaced, everything from refrigerator, stove/oven, to dishwasher. We researched every appliance we purchased, a lot of time and effort along with reviews from various reputable reviewers, pointed us to the GE GDT DISHWASHER. Who can go wrong with three tier washing amongst jetted water bottle washers? After a 1 1/2 yrs in the top spinner completely separated from its housing. We googled the problem, GE said it was a faulty design, yet no recall. The door lock began to fail, googled the repair fix, another fault design, yet again no recall. Upper plastic door trim broke in half, solution, replace the entire console. Guess what? My solution here on out is to not buy GE products. If two years is all you get with a GE product, I am out! Done with your products that once lasted 10 to 15 years. The fact that have to research another DISHWASHER, absolutely pisses me off. I dare you GE to win me back!

Month Long Dish Washer Installation from Hell (Try #3 the best).Install Try 1 (I took off work for): Oops, I ordered the wrong hose. I am going to have to come back next week to install. I will call you and set something up. (installer). Next week Friday: Hello is this GE Installation services Umm its Friday and the guy never called or showed up this week to install my dishwasher I just purchased??!? (me). We then set up a time for the following week. How unprofessional.Install Try 2 (I took off work for): Umm still didnt bring the right hose. Can you go to Home Depot for me and buy the right one and bring it back? (installer). Ahh No!?! This is your problem not mine. (me). Well I will have to come back then. (installer). You have to be kidding me. I have to take another day off work?!? (me). Finally he gets a guy to come with the correct hose. Umm, can I borrow a screw driver and some tools from you?(installer). You have to be kidding me, sure? (me). Installer proceeds to drop the sides and fumble around banging the pieces on my NEW floor. Finally getting it installed. It doesnt look right. Dont the feet raise up and shouldnt the dishwasher be flush to the cabinets????!? and it looks crooked?? (me). Nope. (installer). I file a complaint and the guy removes my $60 install fee and sends another team out to fix it.Install Try 3 (I took off work for): 3 guys come and re-install dishwasher worse than the guy before them. From the other room you hear banging around and Oops, I broke a screw etc... This is what happens afterwards. Umm the plastic backing and sides are showing. Its pushed out farther than it was from the first guy. It definitely is NOT supposed to look like that. Plus its loose??? (me). Best we can do. Bye. (install team). This doesnt seem right....(me). Oh no, its leaking!!!!!!!!!!!! (me). So I called a plumber to come ASAP as I said before its NEW wood floor. New Plumber NOT associated with GE or Home Depot (who I probably will be getting a nice bill for calling last minute) proceeds to fix my dishwasher for the next 4 hours...Here is a small list of problems: 1) its leaking; 2) the foot vibrated off; 3) screws broke off; 4) damage to hose; 5) bottom plate installed at angle not even remotely level; 6) scratched up floor and cabinets; 7) installed too far forward and too low. This is the list. So far we still are trying to figure out where it is leaking from and if the dishwasher even will work. Thank god I actually got a Professional this time unlike GE/Home Depots teams. I then called GE Install services 1-800-432-7167 again and this is what they had to say: We already refunded you the 60 dollars. There is nothing we can do but we will file your complaint. I called again to speak with a manager and after a long conversation, he gave me $62 off my order. -- And let me tell you that is not going to cover the cost of the plumber I just hired to fix your mess. Not to mention the 3 days off work I took. Irritated I hung up. I bought a fridge, cook top, and double oven with GE along with this dishwasher. I wish I hadnt given them my business. Apparently, I am supposed to call back if the dishwasher doesnt work when my plumber is done working on it. Oh I WILL be calling back, you can bet on it. As for now I just hope he finds the leak... Moral of the story is NEVER use the install services they offer. You are better off getting your own plumber from the start.

I purchased a stainless steel GE dishwasher for $508.68 since I remodeled my kitchen October 2016, I contacted GE in March 2017 because the stainless steel on the dishwasher door started to have rust spots, they sent a technician to look at it, they told me that they cannot replace it because the aesthetic warranty is only good for 30 days. They authorized the technician to replace the door, however I have the same issue with the new door, and also the dishwasher stopped working. I contacted them again. The technician was able to fix the dishwasher, but as far as the stains on the door they told me thats an aesthetic issue. They cant do anything about it. I called the consumer relations department. I spoke with CIARA GE case # **. They offered me a small discount and I have to come up with $400.00 to buy a new dishwasher.I feel that a good business should always stand behind its products. The dishwasher obviously is defective, they sold me an appliance that supposed to be stainless steel but its something else, the right thing for GE to do is to exchange the defective product for the right one. I am very frustrated that in less than a year I have to spend over $900.00 for a dishwasher. I am great customer for GE, I remodeled my kitchen, I purchased a GE refrigerator, cooktop, oven, kitchen hood, microwave and dishwasher, I think I deserve better than a small discount for a defective product.

Almost immediately after purchasing the GE microwave we started having problems with the circuit board. It is now totally on the blink after only 4 years. This was a high price appliance. Sometimes when setting the timer on 30 seconds, the microwave would still be running and after looking at the timer it would still have 4 or more minutes left to cook. This is a FIRE HAZARD! We purchased this dishwasher for our rental. The last dishwasher was over 30 years old and still working but the racks were coming apart so we opted for a new one from Home Depot. A year later our tenants called saying when they used the dishwasher it rained in the basement. Our maintenance man called and said the dishwasher melted a hole in the right side about 1.5 inches by a 1/4 inch. Midway to the heater element. He did a temp fix with silicone.I called GE Recall number and was told it was not on a recall list. I called customer service and was told they would waive the service call. I explained this was a FIRE HAZARD. They insisted all they could do is send their tech out for repair. Since I paid about 280 dollars for the dishwasher I decide a service call would probably run near that and told them NO! I am now sending all information to consumer affairs department with my STATE REPRESENTATIVE. I also am putting the fire hazard info out there on facebook and twitter. I am waiting for someone else to say they also had a fire hazard. This should be on a recall list!

Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or oth
Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or other appliance from them. Last June 27th we bought a new home which came with all GE appliances. In fact I have 2 of these dishwashers. Once in the basement (just for low usage) and another one in the kitchen. The first day the dishwasher in the kitchen did not work and they came out and replaced it. I have had 3 other service calls on this thing and now it does not clean. Six days before Thanksgiving. I called and the lady told me no service until November 30th is available. It does not work, the first time they came out it was for a leak, second time the pump was not working and the dishwasher was not draining and now it is not cleaning. It was almost as it was my fault. It is a dishwasher - you put the dishes in and then turn it on and they should come out clean. I should not have to rinse or do anything special to make it work. We spent over 1500 dollars on each of these dishwashers and now one if not working. I did not do anything other than turn it on and expect that it should clean.I was told that they would sell me another dishwasher at a discount. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER ANOTHER ONE?! A real company should replace this POS and give me another one for free and it has been 15 months and I have had 2 of them in my kitchen. I can tell you if you plan on purchasing look at KitchenAid they run forever without any problems. They also did a fantastic job of support (I had it for 6 years in one house with one repair, second house they never needed to come).

I bought this over the range microwave in 2009 to go with my other Cafe appliances (dishwasher and range). After a few months, it stopped working and ge sent a repairman to fix it under warranty. He took it apart, replaced the touchpad panel, but told me that the old panel was still good and that I could keep it for the future in case I needed it. And I did. It stopped working a year ago. I took the whole machine apart, put in the original touchpad, and it worked. Until about a week ago. I went away on the Fourth, and when I returned 3 days later, I had the same problem for the third time. I just called ge service and was told that the replacement for the touchpad is $600. When I started to say that I could buy two Microwaves for that amount, the ge service person cut me off and asked if she could help me with anything else. Rude. In addition to this, the Cafe Range ($3000) has three unusable knobs because they were made of cheap PLASTIC and are cracked. They just spin and turn nothing on. When the third one broke, my wife had turned on the power boil and was unable to turn it off until I came home 2 hrs later. A huge FIRE HAZARD!! To replace the six knobs is, you guessed it, $300. I have had this dishwasher for less than a year and it doesnt work. The soap dispenser does not always open or it opens but the soap is not dispensed and just dribbles down the inside of the door. I have called in multiple trouble tickets. They have replaced the computer and the dispenser and have ordered another new computer and dispenser because the problem hasnt stopped. When I called GE to complain that I have had the unit repaired too many times and would like a replacement, they said if it is reparable, they will not replace it. I explained that it is not reparable if they fix it and it breaks again. This past Saturday, the tech told me that I need to run my hot water for ten minutes prior to running the dishwasher and that I should move the silverware caddy from its current location in the front (where it is supposed to go) to the back, taking up space in the rather small tub so I have less room for dishes, which, by the way have to be thoroughly rinsed before washing them. I explained to GE that if I have to jerry-rig the unit to make it work, then it is not reparable. Would they say it was okay if the latch didnt stay closed and I could just put duct tape on it to make it stay shut? If the product does not work as designed, and when the instructions that are provided with the dishwasher are followed and it does not work, it is not reparable. They refuse to replace it and while they did extend my warranty, there will come a time when that warranty is up and it will start to cost us money for all the repairs. It is costing GE more money to keep sending out techs and re-replacing parts than it would to just replace the relatively inexpensive dishwasher. Would I recommend this dishwasher to a friend? I would not recommend this dishwasher to an enemy! DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER!!!

I purchased a GE over-the-range microwave in 2008. After 3 years, the magnetron went out and the microwave stopped heating. I called GE repair, and they told me it would cost over $300 to fix - close to the cost of a new microwave. Stupidly, I bought another GE microwave in August 2011, model JVM1750DP1BB. In the one year Ive had it, it has broken 4 times. One time, it was the magnetron (seems like a common problem). Another time it was the motherboard. Another time, it was a bad wiring problem. Each time, I called the GE repair service, and it takes 1-2 weeks to get an appointment. Twice, they cancelled my appointment on the day because they overbooked. Given that I had to take time off work for the appointments, this is a huge inconvenience. I have been waiting over this last time for an appointment, after they again cancelled my scheduled appointment. GE makes a terrible product, and their repair service is a joke. I bought GE because I wanted to Buy American, but they have completely turned me off. Think twice about buying GE! You will waste lots of time and money.

Have been trying to have repairs for new appliances less than year old since before May 20th. Have had cancelled appointments, service never showed, wrong parts etc. Went to consumer advocates for help, no help. Today my appointment was again cancelled and rescheduled to July 10th. About to have a stroke. Both ice makers dont work, yet I am not put ahead. Have to go back in line after GE cancels.Purchased microwave, double oven profile appliances, two dishwashers for which gasket fell off and dispenser for soap leaked, french door refrigerators, all stainless steel. I just got off phone with consumer advocates and again was told next date July 10th. And I do want an attorney to contact me. Thank you and I hope I get a response.

I purchased a General Electric model peb7226df1ww in 2013. It lasted two years, then failed. I replaced it and two years later the replacement failed. At least GE microwaves are reliable in that aspect. You can count on them to fail. I am convinced GE installs a delayed kill switch on their microwaves to help their revenue stream. This was the last GE appliance I will ever purchase.

GE Dishwaser Model # GDT580SMF2ES - My husband and I purchased an entire suite of GE Slate appliances in 2015 when we built our custom home. We purchased the refrigerator, glass-top range, range hood microwave, and dishwasher. We have experienced problems with the refrigerator Model # GFE28HMHCES twice. A horrible rumbling sound, which they came out and repaired promptly. However, more upsetting is the constant problems we have experienced with the dishwasher. The door gasket broke, which we were informed was not covered under warranty, and most recently the dishwasher stop cleaning and will no longer dry. We have done everything to rectify or repair the situation ourselves, and since it is no longer under warranty, we are left with an appliance that we either spend more money on to repair or toss and buy a new one. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BUY GE!

I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005.
I bought a whole line of GE Monogram appliances for our home in late 2005. These appliances are not even seven years old and I have had the side-by-side fridge repaired several times with no true fix to the problem. They charged me to repair the tank in the fridge that the water line leads out from and into the freezer door. Another repair man said that was never the problem and that the seal on the freezer door is broken from inside the door (a common problem) and freezes up the water line, so no filtered water comes out. They wanted to charge me $800 for a new door with no guarantee that it won’t happen again! My cook-top downdraft has shorted out three times because of a faulty design issue. Water and moisture can get up under the switch, which shorts it out. There were three different repairs for the same issue. Last time the same service man repaired the problem and he was so careless. He got silicone all over the granite counters and switch, which he didnt check before leaving! I called him back to my house before he even got out of the neighborhood. Ultimately, he admitted he screwed up and ordered me yet another switch. Now, just today, my Monogram dishwasher started billowing black smoke. I called GE to find that the unit has been recalled for electrical shock and fires. They said I could have it repaired (if the service man deems it repairable) or it’s $400 towards a new unit. Is this company for real? How many consumers do they have to lose before they wake up? If I werent home my house could have burnt to the ground or, worse, one of our kids or us could have been severely hurt or worse. Do they not realize the liability they would have at that point if the worst would have happened? And they have two phone numbers and my address on file. Why on earth would they not contact me to tell me of the recall? Are they holding their breath and crossing their fingers that nothing too bad will happen? I have a Whirlpool fridge/freezer that is 18 years old and in my garage; nevertheless, it has never given me an ounce of trouble. I will never buy another GE appliance again and will tell anyone I know the same, including the several new home builders I work with. There are too many other companies out there that will back up their quality products. I have called into GE on my latest problems. And if I dont get satisfaction (i.e., brand new units), I have no issues contacting the attorney general. There are forms online that can be downloaded so a formal complaint can be filed. I urge anyone else to do the same.

Bought our GE Microwave (DVM1850DMWW) from Home Depot about 5-6 years ago. I can see a unit just failing; but to start burning, smoking and smelling is non-excusable. We were lucky enough to be in the kitchen at the time and catch the problem before it escalated. While the unit was just ok while it worked, potentially burning down our kitchen is inexcusable regardless of age. Time for a range hood and a small countertop model. A non-GE model.

To date, the gas range has been serviced 3 times, the refrigerator too many times to remember & now my dishwasher pump has gone out. We found out the pump just cannot be replaced, but all hoses, etc. must be purchased as well. GE is CRAP & I will never even consider purchasing anything from this company again. Knowing it was bought out a few years ago by Whirlpool (I believe) but still remains under the GE label - consumers BEWARE.

Have a three-year-old townhouse in New England that came with GE appliances. Within months the microwave needed a new circuit board and, later, the auto open vent is making funny noises when it opens and closes. WORSE: Dishwasher on fritz in third year, requiring a new computer control pad. The cost: $283. American-labeled products produced in other parts of the world are going to cost twice or three times as much before their useful life is over. Shop with care, friends.

GE cafe dishwasher, model CDT725SSFOSS - Bought new home December 16, 2014.
GE cafe dishwasher, model CDT725SSFOSS - Bought new home December 16, 2014. Dishwasher worked well for a short period of time. Six months into ownership the unit began to leak and was quickly and efficiently repaired while under warranty. 10 months into warranty, the dishwasher began to rumble very loudly during every drain cycle, to the point where it sounded like it was going to walk out of the kitchen. Warranty tech showed up and had to order parts. Not sure which pump to replace he ordered both. Tech returns 10 days later and replaces both pumps. He turns power back on and the entire unit is dead electrically. Nothing works, pumps, motors, keypad, nada! Repair keypad was ordered along with a new wiring harness, just in case it was the source of the problem.2 weeks later, and one week before warranty expires, the repairman shows up and replaces the keypad and wiring harness. Yippie skippie, everything works but the tech is still confused, telling me the keypad lights should turn off at the end of the cleaning cycle, he could never make that happen. He completes his repairs on December 23. The unit performs flawlessly for 3 complete cycles, except the lights on the keypad never turn off at the end of the cleaning cycles.Sometime during the week of January 11-17 (while I was traveling) the unit dies again. Completely inoperable electrically. Follow up call with GE warranty service and the entire focus is on the fact that the warranty has expired. I keep pressing and the warranty person finally admits that service parts should carry a 30 day warranty. Service tech arrives and tells me he has to order parts. Keypad has been back ordered and I have no idea when it will show up.Totally unreliable expensive piece of junk. I can only imagine what the future holds. This experience seems to mimic Jack Welchs business philosophy to a tee - maximize profit and return to the shareholders while minimizing production costs and ignoring the customer needs completely. Highly recommend that you run any direction except towards purchasing any GE appliance, especially the Cafe series. Dishwasher. Nonexistent quality controls, no parts available, disappointing performance, extremely high price, P.O.S! DO NOT PURCHASE GE APPLIANCES. Negative Stars rating is what I would give this product. It will for good recycle materials at the scrap yard, sooner than later I am afraid!

The WORST Customer Relations Department & GE Dishwasher EVER 1. Ordered dishwasher & Scheduled Delivery. 2. After my 4 hour window of waiting, I was called and informed the installation needed to be cancelled due to the installer calling in sick. 3. During installation, they dropped my dishwasher & dented the door. I rejected the dishwasher as my other one was already hauled out. 4. Due to my hectic work schedule, my dishwasher was installed about 2 weeks later. 5. Dishwasher was not cleaning. 6. Technician came out another week later and I was told it was MISSING parts from the manufacturing plant and should have never passed QC. In addition, It was missing the bottom spinner and the top spinner was snapped off. The technician glued it back on.7. Called Customer Relations to get the runaround saying, its not their fault it came from the manufacture missing parts. In closing, I own a large apartment complex and have many BUSINESS friends. I will NEVER buy a GE product EVER again and to think of all the people I know, Im going to share my horrid experience with everyone I know. This will make great conversation when golfing too.

Microwave Model HVM1540LP1CS... This microwave was installed 6 years ago when I built my home. I live by myself and the microwave has only been used by me. I loved this microwave until suddenly it began to turn on by itself and I would often hear popping noises. I looked up reviews of this GE microwave and found that this is a frequent problem with GE microwaves. Fires were reported in a couple of reviews so I immediately unplugged mine, as a safety precaution. If this happens frequently with these microwaves, why isnt GE replacing the parts for the defective machines since they can be fire hazards?

Within a year and a half of buying a new construction condo, the GE microwave fan stopped working (used the condo for no more than 30 days). I read all these complaints and am not surprised. My experience with Kitchen Aid appliances (refrigerator, microwave all junk) is no different than this. If I were to replace any of my appliances, I will not buy an American brand because they are all made in some other country with very poor quality control for very high profit and low quality goals. No choice for now, other than to get it repaired. At least, it provides employment, but what a way to create employment. I would never work for such companies.

I wish I could rate this dishwasher ZERO stars. I bought my first GE cafe series approximately 6 months ago and after the first week, there were three separate, unrelated problems. I called GE repair and the serviceman came out and said he fixed all the problems. He did not. I contacted the store where I bought it, and after contacted GE directly was able to get a brand new one. After two months, problems started again. Once again the repairman came out. Long story short - 2 months, and three sick days later (on my part) dishwasher is still not cleaning dishes thoroughly. I contacted GE several more times and they sent me some dishwasher cleaner and offered me a discount on a new GE dishwasher.... I will never purchase another GE anything and advise everyone else to do the same!

This is what transpired on the with GE: I called GE Service because the Magnetron is defective. I had trouble talking to anyone because the Serial Number label on the unit is BLANK. Also, the unit is 9 years old. However, my owners manual reads additional nine-year limited warranty. The customer service rep said the additional warranty is 5 years and GE WILL NOT honor the GE printed manual I have. I was escalated to a supervisor and the first thing she asked for a Serial Number to schedule a service call. I said no, all I want is a new part and she responded cant do that and I cannot schedule a call without a serial number. Hello, the label is BLANK. We went back and forth, getting nowhere and I got angry (I hope can recover the call), she is an IDIOT!Well, opened up the unit and lo and behold it isnt a GE part. I got on eBay and purchased the DAEWOO part (the magnetron the microwave was built with) a lot cheaper and repaired the unit myself. Oh, she said you cant do that. Sounds like Big Brother is alive and well at GE. I dont expect a response since I have been dealt with by the most inhuman people at GE!

Our GE Spacemaker XL microwave stopped working on 7/11/12. We purchased our house in January 2000 with the microwave included and have not had any problems with our microwave, until yesterday, when we woke up and tried to pop the kids breakfast in for a quick heat and it made a strange humming noise and you could smell plastic melting. All power was quickly turned off to the unit. Now to find a replacement for this built-in microwave is going to be a problem. The local technician stated the blower motor we need is no longer available. Thanks, GE, for at least 12 years of excellence. We are now looking for a similar replacement.

Were using a white GE Digital Microwave Oven at home Model No. JEI2870SPSS. We got it from Ansons a few months ago when our previous Kyowa was broken beyond repair. The price is reasonable, the usable space inside is adequate and the exterior design goes well with our kitchen. It has touchpad controls which are very easy to use especially with the pre-programmed settings like steam cook and snacks. So far it has worked very well. Its quite excellent at defrosting meat and evenly heats our food. We have no problem cleaning it and its pretty silent when in use. I hope this one lasts us longer since its pricier than the Kyowa and because use of the microwave less these days because they say the radio waves emitted by these machines cause cancer.

GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 year
GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 years old and is used approximately once daily for lightly soiled dishes, usually only half full since there’s only 2 of us in the house. On 12/28/2012, I ran the dishwasher on a normal cycle, no additional heat or heated drying and the cycle finished about 9pm. I did not open or unload the unit and went to bed. About midnight my wife smelled smoke and woke me up. We ran downstairs to find the dishwasher blazing hot and the smell of burning plastic coming from the dishwasher. I killed the circuit breaker and opened the dishwasher door. The whole first floor of the house smelled liked burned plastic and we had to open all the windows and doors in 28 degree winter weather to vent the smell. The bottom heating element had come on and stayed on! The entire bottom of the flatware basket was melted out and all the forks, knives and spoons were in the melted plastic goo in the bottom of the dishwasher. The wheels melted off the bottom wash rack and the lower wash arm melted and burned. Also, the plastic screen in the bottom of the dishwasher is twisted and distorted. Some dishwasher safe items like the glass coffee maker carafe with the plastic handle and rim are unusable since the high heat distorted the plastic parts. They were on the top rack. We feel fortunate that first, my wife smelled it and woke up. Second, the dishwasher tub is stainless steel and so it contained the heat and lastly, that our counter tops are granite since directly above the dishwasher, the counter was hot enough that you could not hold your hand on it comfortably. GE is coming today to evaluate the dishwasher and determine what, if anything, they will do. It is not under warranty, but as I told GE, it’s a safety concern. We dont want it fixed, we want a new one. Nobody expects a 4-5 year old top of the line dishwasher from a company like GE to be a fire hazard in their home. This dishwasher cost over $1,100.00 in 2008. My questions: why would the heat element come on at all given the settings? Second, why did it come on after the cycle ended and the indicator lights said clean? Third, why isnt there a high heat shut off switch that would have killed the power in a circumstance like this? And fourth, since I see other consumers with Cafe Dishwashers have had similar concerns, why isnt there a recall on this model? There are recalls on many other models it seems for heating element malfunctions. I believe that any action other than replacement, even after the warranty period, is irresponsible on the part of GE, but the cost of law suits and settlements maybe less than the cost of replacements or recalls. What of the potential cost of lost lives?
