The Vikings Range was already in my fourth house when I bought it in September 2015. The range, including the oven, gets hot super super fast and that concerns me because it cooks food so fast. When I scramble eggs, the estimated time is half of what it would normally take. Im concerned about burning and fires so I have to watch it. Its almost short of a microwave, and because of that it creates potential danger.

We have a Viking refrigerator that is 7 years old. It needs a repair in the water filter. First, it was hard to find someone who would repair it. The servicemen I called would not touch it, due to Viking not sending parts in a timely manner or not having parts. Thank goodness the retailer who sold our kitchen appliances to us will stand by their service!! They are going to try to repair our refrigerator without the part. Viking DISCONTINUED the part for a 7 year old refrigerator!!! We found this out after waiting one MONTH for Viking to let the retailer know. I have an entire kitchen of Viking appliances... I am so bummed. These appliances were supposed to be top end. Buyer BEWARE. Our local retailer no longer carries Viking due to these problems.

I have a Viking kitchen. I've had a Viking refrigerator in my house for about 20 years. It lasted 18 years before I needed some work. And then, that lasted for another couple of years. I was good with it. It went bad, so I needed a new one. However, I'm rather disappointed that the warranty service happened. The issue was the fridge wouldn't hold temperature. It took about a month and a half. But the tech did a really good job. It has only been a month or two since the repair, but so far, so good. He added refrigerant. He couldn't find the leak. So if the leak is somewhere hidden, it would recur. I like the fridge when it works.

Not the greatest service for a pretty pricey appliance. The grid was kind of hard to maintain. Overtime, the grill top did look discolored (supposed to be normal) but it kind of bothered us as we had an open kitchen concept. Otherwise, best gas stove we have had so far in-term of cooking/pots - the grill top in the center and 2 cooking grids on either side.

We were shopping around and looked at Viking. We looked at the outside and the description on the panel but didnt do research. We also compared and heard about the Viking reputation. We thought that Viking was a high-quality product so we bought the refrigerator and dishwasher. Surprisingly, there were minor problems all along so we kept calling the service. We were a little disappointed because our old kitchen had a custom built-in refrigerator work 23 years and never had a problem before it broke down. The Viking refrigerator door could not close properly because a mullion glide did not fit. The problem did not occur after the first service and the second service occurred this afternoon where the rep was very courteous and knowledgeable. The servicemen delivered and it seems working now.

I will never but another Viking appliance. Our Viking appliances are also 6 years old. We have $30,000 Viking appliances in our kitchen. They are six years old. Three years ago the refrigerator/freezer leaked water all over the hardwood floor, causing considerable damage. Last fall, our closed system failed (the compressor and entire cooling system - a repair costing more than $2000). At the time, Viking told me that a failed closed system is not unusual for the age of our refrigerator! It sounded ludicrous to me, but because that “piece of junk” matched everything else in my kitchen, I sucked it up and spent the money to repair the refrigerator. Then two weeks after the closed system was replaced, Viking sent notice about a hinge recall, claiming the door could fall off. I did not see anything wrong with my refrigerator door hinges, but I called Viking and was strongly urged to replace the door hinge. Immediately, after replacing the hinge there was a significant problem. Now, the door does not close properly. Lo and behold, six weeks later, at the end of 2011, Viking issued a second hinge recall and this time offered customers a reduced price of $4470 ($4100 plus tax) to buy a new Viking refrigerator. I contacted Viking’s customer service immediately because I wanted to know if Viking was willing to reduce the replacement cost of a new refrigerator to help compensate me for the major repair I just incurred. After 3 months of phone calls and emails waiting for Viking to respond to my request, I finally sat on hold for 20 minutes waiting for a customer service representative (I use this term loosely) who was authorized to help. I explained the fact that I was willing to replace my refrigerator if the cost was truly $4500; but since I just spent more than $2000 on repairs, this new replacement refrigerator would effectively cost me $6500. I asked if Viking would be willing to reduce the replacement cost in any way. I was told, No, the price you have is the price youll pay. I inquired why Viking had not made this replacement offer when my closed system failed before I sunk $2000 into this refrigerator just 3 months prior. I was told that was beside the point and I could take the offer or not, but there is nothing more Viking will do. I advise anyone and everyone who has not already made the purchase: dont buy Viking! This is a mediocre refrigerator, but their customer service is by far the worst and most insulting I have encountered. Yes, I will be buying a Sub-Zero to replace this piece of junk and use a front panel to match my other graphite grey appliances. Note: For others with graphite grey appliances, I have found an Italian laminate by Abet Laminati that matches perfectly (879 Colorpact-sei is thicker than the regular product). I have had a test door made up to be sure it is a perfect match.

We had an oven fire over Christmas, and so we bought a new one from Viking. The oven fit and I had a hood already that was Viking, so it was just as simple as replacing what was there. I needed an oven fast, so I went online and found whoever was closest to me, who could bring it in and who had a good deal going on. I got it through Appliance Connection. I spoke to somebody about which one to get and they sorted it out. It was okay. But the installers were a little half-assed. Even so, the quality of the oven is good and solid. There was nothing wrong with it except one of the igniters wasnt working, but I fixed that myself. And there were a few loose parts on it when it came that needed to be sorted out. But Ive had one in the past, and its fine. Its better than most.

I put a gourmet kitchen in our house and Viking is the brand of appliance that I wanted around our stove. The stove, dishwasher, double oven, and microwave were fine. But Ive had problems with the refrigerator and the wine refrigerator and Ive had the appliance store at our house. For the refrigerator, this will be the fourth time, and for the wine refrigerator, twice. After paying the amount of money for all my appliances, Id like to have them working correctly. Im hoping that this next fix, when the technician comes out, is going to resolve the issues.

We purchased a Viking dishwasher, model FDW100, just over a year ago and it looks like we will be throwing it away. It does not wash or dry. I tripped the door switch to watch the washing action with the door open and there just isnt enough water pressure from the dishwasher pump to get the dishes clean. If you put a cup right-side-up on the top shelf it can barely fill the cup with water. We had two serviceman look at it and they say there is nothing wrong. They connect their tester and find no diagnostic codes so they say it is fine. I ask them if they check the water pressure from the pump and the answer is; No. We dont check that. (Water pressure is the only thing that washes) As far as drying, well it doesnt. The dishes are warm but not even close to dry. Im contributing the drying problem to the EPA forcing the Energy Star program onto manufacturers. How do you reduce energy cost on a dishwasher? Two ways. Reduce the pumps and reduce the electric heating cycle. I cannot recommend this model Viking dishwasher to anyone.

My husband and I are both good cooks and I wanted a Viking Range ever since
My husband and I are both good cooks and I wanted a Viking Range ever since they became available commercially. It was about the same price as its competitors but its the one I always dreamed of having. I wanted a six burner and the one I received from Viking is incredible. I love it. My old range was a Kitchenaid and with it, I couldnt run the burners on top and the oven at the same time. I would get a power failure and at that time, that was allegedly a good range. So I wanted something that was not going to crap out on me. We just had Thanksgiving and with the Viking Range, I had at least five burners going in the oven and everything was perfect. But when I purchased it from a retail store, it was a mess. I had complaints and they kept not wanting to put me through Viking. They kept telling me that Viking wouldnt do anything about it because the ovens got to have many things wrong with it. They also kept saying they could repair it and when we were down to the 6th thing that needed to be repaired, finally they sent the email with my complaints to Viking. Once Viking got involved, I had a new stove within two weeks. And because the range and the refrigerator are only separated by a small-ish cabinet, I also told them that when the refrigerator came in, it had a big bash on the side. Again, I had a new one in five days. So the people at Viking were incredibly responsive and based on my experience, we should watch out for the retail outfit that we get our Viking products from.

My wife researched Viking Ranges online since we’ve seen them before at different houses. She was happy with the price and the package that she got. We got a white range with a big scratch on it and it took six months to get a new kit panel. My experiences with Viking are not very good. But the range is great except for the scratch. The people who sold us the appliances dealt with the Viking dealership and they’re absolutely terrible. I would get a call on a Monday and she would tell me I’m going to hear from Viking and they would tell me what theyre going to do. But we never got a call. And at the end of the week, I’d call them and tell them we didn’t get a call this week. And they would say we didnt get a callback because she was busy or it was the Fourth of July or the Memorial Day or a Flag Day. We weren’t happy when we received it. It also took a long time to get anything. They need to send somebody else who knows what they’re doing besides analyzing what the repairman did! I’m not impressed at all. It’s been an unbelievably poor experience.

I love my Viking refrigerator. It’s a good refrigerator - food stays fresh for longer. I bought it through Pacific Sales and they wanted to drop the unit off and just leave. It was a long process but we got there. Their services were great.

One of my friends bought a house that had a Viking Range and I was out of a range for three months because I couldn’t find anything I wanted, so I researched Viking. The people that installed the stove was fantastic and it’s a rarity now to find that anywhere. They were Justin and John and it was called Bald Eagle Delivery & Home Service. They were a father-son team and they were incredible. They worked together very well. I live up in the mountains of Colorado and I can’t get anybody out here to do anything. I got the stoves that are 410 pounds, the smallest one, and they took their time, installed it correctly and showed us how to use it. The overall experience was amazing. As opposed to going to Sears, Lowe’s and Home Depot, I won’t go to any other place but Mountain High Appliance in Colorado Springs because the service was good. We’ve had four ranges in the 20 years that we’ve lived in this house and they keep going out. My husband did not want me to get a Viking Range because of the expense, but I told him that I was getting it. The roll-out trays inside the oven are great. I love the cooking experience, having a propane range and the fact that the oven is electric. I got the dual range and I just cooked the most beautiful rhubarb strawberry pie yesterday. It was wonderful. I love Viking Ranges.

This morning my Viking range turned on by itself. I researched and found that there is a voluntary recall by Viking for this exact problem, but when I called I was told that my model was not covered under the voluntary recall, so they would not send me the repair kit. Instead they told me to contact an authorized repair service. While in the phone with Viking, my oven turned on by itself four more times. My oven is now unplugged and we have disconnected the gas line. I am extremely nervous about this issue. My model is the 307 series. Covered under the recall is the 306 and 308 series, among others. Does this make sense? No. In addition to this problem, we have had to replace the glass seal, hinges and oven igniters. We also purchased a Viking microwave which broke within the first 13 months. Very unhappy. Should have purchased a Wolf.

We purchased a Viking microwave, range/oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator i
We purchased a Viking microwave, range/oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator in February 2008. The appliances were beautiful. Unfortunately, they did not last. Between February 2008 and November 2012, the oven had to be repaired twice. There was an issue with the temperature gauge both times. In addition, the microwave/range hood required multiple service visits, and at one point Lakeview (the authorized repair facility) took the microwave back to the shop and replaced every working part in the appliance in order to get it to function again, according to the repair person who worked with us. The microwave completely stopped working in 2010, and we purchased a temporary countertop microwave to use. In 2012, the dishwasher completely broke down and was irreparable. In 2011-2012, I repeatedly contacted Viking Customer Service and attempted to get our microwave repaired again. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to get any sort of information or resolution (multiple emails went unanswered after I provided the information requested by the customer service agent), I contacted the Better Business Bureau. After Viking was contacted by the BBB, a representative contacted me relatively quickly. But Viking would only offer to cover the cost of the parts needed for the repair and would not cover the cost of repair, although we had already paid for the microwave to be repaired more than once. Lakeview, the only authorized repair group in our area, charges $180 for the first hour of service and $90 per hour after that for repairs. In the end, we ended up sending the appliances to the junk yard and paid $1000 for a temporary microwave and dishwasher from GE, both of which function just as well or better as the Viking appliances when they still worked. We are now waiting for our Viking refrigerator to stop working. The water and ice dispenser in the door has already stopped functioning very well, so we do not use them any longer. In addition, the temperature in the freezer occasionally fluctuates for absolutely no reason. Sometimes it is 5 degrees, sometimes it is 0 degrees, or some other random temperature.Additionally, when we purchased the appliances from a licensed vendor, we were informed that we were eligible for a small rebate for the appliances. We verified that we were eligible with the manager of the vendor, who confirmed that we would be able to obtain the rebate. Viking refused to honor the rebate. We will never purchase Viking appliances again, and we make sure that we advise our friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances to avoid the companys products as well. When we redo our kitchen in a year or two, we are planning on purchasing our appliances from Wolf and Subzero.

The current situation with Viking is an oven relay that has been backordered for over six weeks. Considering the poor quality of Viking appliances, their parts department should be overstocked. We liked the look of the Viking Ranges. We also liked the multiple burners and the size of the double oven. We knew what we wanted as we shopped, and we picked Viking out. Weve had a couple of problems, though, but it is covered by warranty because we built the house. We had to have it completely replaced once, because the main oven door wouldnt close and seal. The original dealer stopped carrying Viking, so we ended up having to get the replacement from another dealer. Because it was an all-new construction, the builder handled finding the other dealer, and he contacted them. They quoted all the same appliances and everything was smooth. The pricing wasn’t any different. It was just a matter of waiting for construction completion, and everything was here when we moved in. It didnt hold up construction. With the replacement, though, the two oven doors dont align. There’s an uneven gap, so it looks like somethings crooked. But theyre coming next week to try to get that fixed. Were hoping that its some adjustment that they can make and not another problem. Another thing is that it has all large burners. Theres nothing smaller for just a small pot to simmer something, so I’m always dealing with a larger wider diameter pot. But it’s a nice product, so far. Theyve been accommodating with the issues that weve had, so I would recommend it.

The Viking Range is really good and I like their burner power feature. However, we ended up getting one that we didnt even buy which is the appliance dealers fault. We bought the six-burner series with the griddle in the middle but ended up with an eight-burner that they installed. We were not here during the install, which is fine. I’m not upset about that. But trying to get the griddle and our money back has been a chore and we have been at it for two months and cant understand why it hasnt been done. The guy who owns the place is extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot when we went to see him and he did a wonderful job on the install but the follow-up items after the fact have just been a nightmare for us. I liked the durability. However, I am so unhappy. I purchased the refrigerator then right away, I noticed a sound. I called in two weeks after I purchased the refrigerator because of the sound. Viking sent a repair person. They replaced the motor. And now, it has another sound that’s bugging me, so I rescheduled another appointment. I realized I had felt it but I was always in a hurry. The handles are giving shocks off. I had an electrician go in yesterday. And for some reason, he passed by the refrigerator with his gadget to detect electricity, and there’s electricity running through the handles where we open it. And he said, “Whoa, call them immediately tomorrow. Get them over here. This could be dangerous.”I was talking to Viking regarding this and I paid $4,000 for this refrigerator. They were sending me repair people. And Pacific Sales told me they only had a 14-day exchange, and Viking will only do repairs. Now, with this issue, I want a replacement. Ive known Viking for decades. They were offering a rebate on the refrigerator so I went with them. I also had a free refrigerator and the range hood with blower, which made my purchase more enticing. Without them, I might have bought the unit from Sub-Zero and Wolf. I bought it from the Better Housekeeping over in Red Bank and the people I have dealt with were great. But the unit has a poor design and if I had to do it again, I will not purchase this refrigerator. The spring on one of the doors has a sound and the ice tray was poorly made because on the first week I pulled it out and the handle snapped right off. The magnet of the butter tray on top isnt good and every time I pull the refrigerator, if I have a stick of butter inside, it falls out. Also, compared to a regular KitchenAid, which are the deeper refrigerators, Viking units are more counter depth, so in terms of storage there isn’t a lot of cubic feet in there to use. With my particular model, there are four trays for produce and those trays are much smaller so I can’t really put a lot of stuff in there.I also have the Professional Series for the oven, which is the one with the French door. Even though it’s a beautiful look, it’s really stupid that it’s said to be self-cleaning but because there’s no latch for the French doors, it’s not the same kind of self-cleaning at the lower oven. It’s just like a steam clean kind of effect and stuff like grease doesnt come off. I also already had a problem with our blower on the fan where it was making a lot of noise and I’ve already had a service call on it. So to spend what I totally paid, which is at $25,000 for my entire kitchen, I really shouldn’t be expecting or experiencing problems like these within the first year. These are high-end products, and it’s a professional series, so it’s very disappointing.

Stuff should really take a beating and be able to take a beating. We got the fridge four years ago. So its a good product. My Viking fridge looks great, and it matches. So, overall, it gives value to the kitchen in the house. I am happy with the purchase. Its not expensive, which is why Im glad. I dont mind paying more, if you call them and theyre really responsive like they were when something happened to it. An internal fan conked out, I called the retailers but they were not too helpful. When I called Viking, they were really helpful. So, if there will be an issue again, I would call Viking direct.

I was looking for a comparable model so I researched and saw that there were Jenn Air, Subzero, and Miele. I was looking for a certain look and dimension and I decided to go with Viking Refrigerators. I like the feature choice components. Plus, its quality seemed all right, but I was shocked that it didn’t have a filter installed for the water. Aside from the refrigerator, I also bought four other pieces of kitchen equipment and had a good experience with the dealer. Viking Refrigerators is very supportive and I would recommend them.

One of the selling points of the house for my wife and I was that it had Viking appliances in it. Viking has an excellent reputation and it would be my choice. They look so beautiful and they work so well, so were very happy with them. We like the quality too, however, were having a problem with one of the burners. Weve sent in the registration paperwork and took the numbers right off of the appliances. We have to go through our building contractor since its under the one-year house warranty. They are supposed to be contacting Viking to set up an appointment for them to come out and look at the Viking cooktop and see what the problem is. Another issue we encountered was with the registration. We were told everything is verified except for either the microwave or the stove. Other than that we always recommend Viking.

All I can say is that I wish I had read these other reviews before buying our very disappointing Viking D3 Electric Range!!! It hasnt cooked right since the day we got it. Being on a special medical diet, I need to have all 3 of my meals cooked along with what I need to cook for my family. So, needless to say, my range gets a good work out. Thought I was buying a high end brand to fit my needs. Unfortunately, the oven does not cook to the proper temperature & takes forever to cook anything. 1 1/2 hours to cook thin chicken cutlets, almost 2 hours to bake a blueberry loaf that ended up being still uncooked in the middle & all the blueberries sunk to the bottom. The best was some birthday cupcakes I baked on the convect cycle which got over cooked on the outside & not done on the inside & actually exploded part of the tops off. Im going to try & include a photo if I can. All I can tell people who are looking to buy a range, DONT BUY VIKING!!!!! I wish I never bought one.

I was doing research and my sister had a Viking range, and then I started looking into Viking appliances. I liked them, plus they were made in the USA, and thats how I ended up buying a Viking refrigerator. Its a good purchase. I bought it from my dealers here in the Portland area. Its been excellent with the reps. The salesperson was very knowledgeable. He offered me different kinds and I said, Listen, just tell me about Viking right now, and he said, Okay. The ref I got has two features that I like. First, the temperature is very constant, and is exactly what the ref says. Second, theres a little ozonator inside the ref for keeping the food fresh and not smelling. However, I am going to call Viking because we have a little issue with the refrigerator. When I open the door, the drawers on both sides where you put your veggies in wont stay and would slide out if I dont put something underneath, like a piece of towel. This appliance is not leveled well. Other than that, its perfect. Hopefully, somebody can fix my refs drawers so they will not slide when I open the main door, because thats very annoying.

Overall, I like the quality of the Viking range and I like many aspects of it even though I was supposed to have service on it again. I’ve had a service problem since the beginning and they haven’t rectified it yet even though they have tried. My favorite thing about the range is the ease of being able to clean the top. And now, the new ones that are just a year and a half old are having issues too so the quality is not that great. There is ice buildup in the freezer and mold in the gasket. And one of the lights already went out. It took a while to get the right people to come out here to even look at them. It’s been three weeks and the issues havent been solved. I’m not that happy.

Now, my wife uses the range and she likes that she can control the flames so carefully from high to low. Its very controllable. Im glad that we bought the Viking equipment. We plan to stay here in the house for many, many years and we hope that all these appliances last as long as we do.

I’ve been having a lot of trouble recently with our Viking Refrigerator and it’s been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I liked the great arrangement design in the freezer and that it had a three-year warranty. But, the freezer leaks water onto the floor, which then pools under the fridge and then leaks into my basement. I have to get in there every week and break up the ice at the bottom of the freezer so it doesn’t break the seal. I sent an email to Viking several weeks ago and I was in touch with somebody there and we have emails back and forth. I opened up a service ticket about three months ago and I’m only now starting the service process since it wasn’t until this week that I actually got confirmation. They have a local appliance service person coming out and I’ve scheduled an appointment with them.

We have four different Viking appliances and we love their line. We also love the range. But with the refrigerator that we bought, Im not feeling super great about it. After less than two months of us installing it, the refrigerator died. There was a problem with the fan in the freezer portion that wasnt blowing air up the refrigerator, so everything was spoiled. We called the company where we purchased the Viking Refrigerator from and then they contacted Viking. Then they sent someone under the manufacturer warranty. However, that process took three weeks so we were out of a refrigerator for three weeks. The refrigerator is fixed now, although there is a popping noise that occurs occasionally. But even though the refrigerator is giving us some trouble, we still like it. We also like its size and the capability of monitoring the temperature.

I had issues with the thermostat, compressor, evaporator, and hardware falling off. The evaporator was 1,500 bucks to replace and Ive done that twice. When it came down for replacement, Viking offered us a 40% discount to stay with them and give their product another chance. So far, Im very pleased with the new refrigerator. We’ve had our old Viking Range for at least 14 years. We did some comparisons this time but still ended up with Viking because of our past ownership. The quality of the new range is top-notch and it has the ability to do the low simmer on the burners, which is really nice. In the oven, the slide rails are really nice, for the racks, too. The Viking dealer was terrific, knowledgeable and very nice and we had done a lot of background research so we didn’t really have many questions for them. However, we had a problem with the oven igniter so we called them back and they had somebody out to fix it the very day that I called. They were completely supportive.I love the burners and the oven itself and I’m getting used to using convection. The old oven didn’t have convection so I’m playing around with temperatures. I really like the new ranges quality and some of the features but there could be some improvements. One of those is the oven fan runs for a really long time after I turn the oven off and it is annoying to have that constant fan there. The oven window and the oven light are really miserable. There might be better ovens out there, in terms of the oven light, oven window, and that annoying fan. But other than that, it’s really nice and sure is pretty.

I was never notified of a fire hazard recall on my unit (Recall date: April 10, 2012; Recall number: **) which states [c]onsumers should immediately stop using the recalled dishwashers and contact Vikings hotline for a free in-home repair. I discovered the recall on or about January 25, 2016, when my units electrical circuit ceased operation and I inquired about service. Thankfully no fire. I called the recall hotline, (800) 241-7239, was assigned Customer ID No. **, and was promised a repair kit would be delivered to my home within 15 business days. On March 1, 2016, I call back to the hotline to report that the repair kit still had not arrived, and I was advised that the issue was escalated and that another kit would be sent because they could not trace the 1st one. On March 24, 2016, I again called the hotline because no repair kit has been received. I was told that the company answering the hotline reported the matter to Viking and while I was placed on hold, they tried without success to reach Viking. I left my cell number and demanded a call back. The failure of Viking to timely address the recall is unacceptable. My family of 4 has been without a dishwasher for 2 months now.

We went through an open house and we saw one with Viking as one of the stuff they put in their kitchen. My parents really love Sub-Zero and we were wondering if we’d go with Sub-Zero or Viking, and we picked Viking out of price. I like how cold it is and I like the fact that food doesn’t go spoiled as easily as with my traditional $2,000-range fridge. I bought a floor model and I called Viking ‘cause it had an installation issue. They sent a third-party company fast, which is good in terms of their customer service. However, the company who did the repair was not as good as I would like them to be because they couldn’t do it right and they put on the report that it might be a different issue. They scheduled it for another three to four weeks ‘cause of the parts. Overall Viking is pretty solid, but from the design point-of-view, it’s a bit outdated compared to others. Sub-Zero is better but it’s a little bit pricier and it’s harder to find a floor model than Viking.

Ive known about Viking Refrigerators for a long time. We purchased a home recently that had a built-in refrigerator and it had a sub-zero that was not working. I went over to Best Buy to check some stuff out. I knew they had the Pacific Home in there so I went in and got the Viking fridge. We had a rocky start because when they came and delivered it, the refrigeration door was approximately a half an inch lower than the freezer door. And there was no adjusting it. They had to basically come out, take the door off, put some spacers underneath the one side to level it out and get it all to work right, which is pretty frustrating for a $12,000 refrigerator. At first, Best Buy said, Well, youre gonna have to call Viking. and I said, Im not gonna call anybody. I bought it from you so you guys can figure it out or you can come pick up your refrigerator and Ill buy from somebody else. And they figured it out. The lady I talked with at the dealership was very helpful. When she wasnt available the day that I called and there was an issue, she called me the next day. She also called me after the follow up when they came out and fixed it to make sure everything is okay and did a great job.Everything is great. I do like that all the shelving on the doors is all metal instead of the flimsy plastic. We have a separate ice maker so we don’t really use the one inside of it too much. It doesnt seem to hold a lot so if that was our only ice maker, that would probably be a downside for us. Overall, the refrigerator is very solid. Were looking to hopefully buy an in-wall oven and a dishwasher from Viking soon.

Weve been having a lot of problems with our refrigerator. From the beginning, the freezer side would not seal properly and we couldnt figure out why. The contractor took a look at the door and he realized that the seal thing was disconnected. It took them three or four weeks to get the part here to get it fixed and meanwhile, our freezer was working really hard but that got fixed. But from the get-go, our fridge has been super loud. At first, we thought it was because the cabinet up above was a little loose. We tightened that cabinet up and the fridge is still super loud. Were still going back and forth with Wiking and it is not resolved. Its just a bunch of escalation to somebody who doesnt call back. We found out the range was damaged when it was installed and we had the local vendor, AllSouth, come out and look at it to see what the deal was. They said it could be fixed and it could be 5,000. But even if we replaced it, they were somewhat reluctant to say they feel safe with the internal portion of the gas part of it. That made us still somewhat reluctant to use it.They handed it off to Viking and Viking did not call us back so we had to call them and they apologized. They said they were sorry the other guy didnt call us back and that they have cameras that look at the production process so it couldn’t have been on their part. But the end result is we paid almost $7,200 for the range and its damaged. Im not real happy with Viking and I was real disappointed with them. If I had to do it over again, I would not go with them. I was very disappointed its oven died after about a year and a half. I was glad I had an extended warranty on it because otherwise, it wouldnt have been covered at all and I wouldve been out the entire amount. But after nine service calls, it could not be repaired. Viking then replaced it with a new model because the model of our first range wasnt available anymore. Since then, the stove we have now has been working fine. The product was delivered with a manufacturer defect. The doors had to be zip-tied up because the installation is difficult if the doors are moving about. After it was installed, my husband and I realized the doors dont close. What upset me about the third-party vendor was that they said that its our problem, not theirs, and left. But Viking immediately stepped in and sent help with their repair people around town. I have had to use them on two or three occasions once again, all from the defect of original product delivery. No issues that went wrong. They have been incredibly responsive. Its a brand that stands by its quality. On the other hand, they did let a fridge that doesnt have doors that close past inspection somehow, so thats also strange. But when they realized they messed up, they fixed it. They seemed to have dealt with those questions before or the saleslady might even own one, so she was able to speak about personal experiences too. We like all the features that came with the range and it has been really good. We havent had a gas stove before, so the fact that everything heats up really quickly is awesome to us. Plus it looks really good in our kitchen. We bought it back in the fall, but only got it installed in February, so were still sort of in a trial period of using it. Fact: Third repairperson finally told us what Viking wanted to say, which was it can be fixed if we replace the doors and thermostats.Vikings policy is they will NOT take back, even a brand new appliance, if they can replace all of the parts. Where are we to put this, and where can I get one for $400 with installation? I have begged, literally, for them to replace it... I didnt ask for our money back, just replace with a quality item... They refused. I was better off with my other brands that were less money. I will NEVER EVER tell anyone to buy Viking. Honestly, it is a horrible situation.

I went to Barry’s Appliance in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and they had all different brands on there. I liked the style of the Viking range. It looked nice. I thought it fit well in my kitchen that we had just put in. We got the hood, and it was very good. I like the convection oven a lot and the quality of the range is excellent. However, the door doesnt look like it closes all the way but they told me that’s ‘cause of the gasket that’s on it. It almost looks like it’s a little open on the side but they said that all the Viking Ranges are like that. There was also a problem with one of the gas jets when we first got it. There was a loose connection inside. They sent a repair guy down and took the whole stove apart. We tightened every connection in it. He was there for three or four hours and I haven’t had problems since. My experience with Vikings is great and I would recommend the Viking range.

Our designer and the manager of the store we went to highly recommended the Viking range. We love its look and the small oven is awesome. My husband is the main cook and he loves how it simmers where you can get it really low and then also for making meatballs. As of this moment, our Viking isnt working properly. Parts are needed and the appliance repair company said that they have been waiting on it for over a month now. But other than that what works is great. The only suggestion I could make is for them to have a childproof type of lock. They got plastic covered knobs but those dont look good. The ones where you can push in and turn would be awesome, but I could not find any.

We liked Vikings name recognition and aesthetics. I feel good about the quality of the range that we got. The installer commented that it was the heaviest range of that size he had ever tried to lift in his life. And he’s been installing high-end appliances for 15 years. Weight is a good indication of quality to me. You can typically look at the weight of something and figure out whether it’s made well or not. I also liked that we could get the Viking range in a custom color because my wife wanted a black one. We had to wait a couple of extra months for Viking to build that one. Having the dual fuel, which is the gas range and the electric oven, is good too.We got our Viking range at Bob Wallace Appliance in Huntsville, Alabama. They were really good and I would definitely recommend them. I picked out the range online, talked with the salesperson, ordered it over the phone, and had it delivered to my house. The whole thing from step one to the final step was done without me ever stepping foot in the store.I know that Viking and other high-end brands like this have like a no discount policy. But we were able to take advantage of a sale going on to where when we bought the range, we got a free Viking dishwasher with it. Also, one of the things that I wanted, we were going from a electric stove to a gas stove and I wanted a vent hood. And as part of that Viking promotion, we could pick a microwave or a dishwasher. In the future, they could add to the list of free products that one could get. I would’ve taken a free vent hood even though it’s less expensive than a dishwasher because I didn’t need a new dishwasher. I just got it anyways because it was free. The promotions like that are really good and as far as the stove, everything works perfectly right now.

I have a lot of problems with Viking. The oven is really loud. When you set the temperature for 300, it goes to 300, and then it tries to go on and off just to maintain the temperature. I can hear that on and off sound -- the clicking and the sparks -- in the living room which is a good 30 or 40 feet away. I dont know if I have a faulty unit or thats the way its built. Also, the dishwasher doesnt really clean really well. Ive looked online and at the manual. I tried to tweak things like settings and gears. I also make sure I use rinse aid and high-quality detergents but there have been some issues. One more thing was the fridge. When I set it at a temperature like 37 degrees Fahrenheit, things start freezing in the back of the fridge. If I put a jar of olives towards the back of the fridge, it gets frozen. These are very expensive appliances and theyre considered high-end, but I dont feel like I have that quality in them. Ive had a Frigidaire fridge in my garage and Ive had it for about seven years, and thats working perfectly. I dont think I would recommend Viking but that could change. Ive been meaning to contact support and once I get in touch with them and they can help me resolve these issues, I think maybe it would be different.

I’ve used Viking for several years. I’ve had a 16-inch Viking range in one house and had some other Viking and Jenn-Air appliances as well. But Ive always gone back to Viking. My wife likes them because the big Viking ranges have removable inserts so when we spill and things flow over on the gas ranges, we lift the grating off and then there’s a pan that we can lift out on the older ones that makes it much easier to clean. But in my current house, I bought a Viking surface gas range and it’s a pain in the ass because I can’t pull those pans out to clean them.I also have a non-built in refrigerator and I had it drop shipped to my house. I unpacked it, installed it myself, set it all up, and it’s perfect. I like the LED lighting in them. Its just a nice touch to it when I open the doors. Also, the handles have a substantial feel which at times, feel a little better than industrial feel. Others are still in boxes and they’re waiting to be installed. One’s a built in refrigerator, built in freezer, and a built in wine cooler. And I have a construction project going on right now so they’re not going to be installed for another four weeks if all goes smoothly. One of the reasons I’ve gone overboard with Viking is because when I went a local supplier where I’m at to look at Viking and they didn’t stock them any more They said, “Well, we actually just had to pull them out because we don’t do enough business here. Viking is consolidated per dealership network. And so I called another dealer and they said, “Yeah. We’ve been buying up all the demo Viking stuff and Viking bought stuff from other dealers ‘cause they’ve gone through a dealer consolidation. So I ended up going to a dealer in Dallas, Texas and buying most of my Viking appliances from them. We got a really good discount because they had been buying up inventory from other dealerships in this consolidation so my timing was right.Nonetheless, I spent over $20,000 but Ive got three refrigerators, a wine cooler, two stove tops, one gas, one induction, and one Viking wall oven and two Viking warming drawers. My wife absolutely loves the wall oven because they’re French doors, and she’s short. She’s burned herself on oven doors trying to reach into the oven to pull things out and so those French doors are phenomenal for short people because they can get right into the oven without having to reach over the door when they open the door down in a conventional oven. Ive already recommended them to a couple of friends that were remodeling their kitchens. I even told them where to go and a couple of dealerships that I worked with that gave really good pricing.

Where do I begin. 4 and half years ago, we remodeled our home and bought Viking appliances which we have been very happy with EXCEPT for the horrible, horrible dishwasher. It has NEVER worked properly, EVER. So much so that after 2 years, I got Viking to replace it with a new one and its still doesnt work well. It spontaneously starts beeping, non-stop, the cycle takes FOREVER. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. A friend recommended to get a less expensive one, stainless steel but that will work better. I have always heard about Viking Ranges and always wanted one. We remodeled
I have always heard about Viking Ranges and always wanted one. We remodeled our whole house, so we got all new appliances. We did some research and Viking Range was really out of my cost range but I found one at Best Buy that was being discontinued and it was locked down and so we got it. I chose Viking because I liked the look of it. I wanted a dual fuel and I liked the look of the cooktop and I particularly like the self-cleaning range. I was also looking at a KitchenAid but when I dug deeper, I found that it wasnt self-cleaning and Viking Range appeared to be. I havent cleaned it yet. We used to have just a cooktop and a separate oven and I wanted both of those combined together. Other ranges were far away from the actual burner itself and I really wanted one that was closer. I really like the shelf, pulling it in and out and Viking was very smooth in that. So, we decided to go with a Viking Range. However, the quality is not so good. We bought it in October off the showroom floor. They sat here for over a month and then they installed it and it didnt work. The gas cooktop worked but the electric oven did not work. Since we bought it at Best Buy through Pacific Sales and we signed up for their Geek Squad offer or the five-year plan, we called them and someone came out the next day. They told us that the motherboard was fried. So, they said I have to order another one. So, we waited and waited and finally, they ordered the part, the part came and the guy who came to install it said, Oh, this is the wrong part. This is not what we ordered. So at that point, this was in January, I was fed up with them because both who came had no good things to say about Viking. We started questioning if we made the right decision. Maybe we loved the way it looks, but if I have problems with it, then this is not the range for us. So, we went to Best Buy and Pacific Sales, and we talked to them and they were very nice about it. They asked if we want our money refunded or if we want to pick out another one instead. I selected the KitchenAid that I wasnt going to get the first time. And in the meantime, they gave me the name of the Viking dealer in Dallas area that provides some support for that kind of thing and told us, Call them directly and see what they can do. And if they get it fixed and you want to use it, use it until your other one comes in. So, the KitchenAid was back ordered and it was just supposed to be delivered last Thursday. The guy came out from the other place and he worked on the Viking range and he said, Well, I think its just the power supply thats bad on it. Let me get a part for it. So, he ordered a part, he came out and it was just the power supply. He fixed it and got it up and running and thats been a couple of weeks ago. Now, its up and running and I love it. The guy who fixed it recommended that we should call Viking and get an extended warranty from them. I did but Viking doesnt offer an extended warranty. Also, theres a lot of things in there and I have not used but I did not get anything with it that tells you not to do or how to convert or any of that. I got to figure that out. I have conventional kitchen instructions and I wanted it to convert it to convection but I dont know how thats going to work yet. We bought an extended warranty with Best Buy or Pacific Sales because it does have a material warranty on it. So, Im going to call the people who can fix it for two years and then we go back to Best Buy for the last three years. I havent used all the functionality on there but I love what Ive used, which is bake and Ive used the cooktop and the grill on the cooktop. If I had purchased it from someone else who knew more about Viking, I might have had a different experience. I dont know how long they studied Viking. But when I called the Viking repair people directly, they said not everyones authorized to make changes. If youre going to buy something off the floor, it should work, and you should have people who are authorized to fix come out and work on it. And whoever comes out, since you spent a ton of money on it, you want someone to confirm that you made the right decision and not bad mouth what you had.

I was looking for higher end appliances, so we decided to go with Viking and have had nothing but problems. The refrigerators doors had a crack in it. The doors were not aligned. The freezer is always kind of opening and not sealing properly. Its a bit noisy. Then there was indenting, and this is the second time it happened in the fridge. I dont know why. I realized I have an extended 10-year warranty with PC Richard so I had the guy come out again, and he said he had to order a bunch of parts, and he placed the order. I hope that is being handled. As far as my range, its horrible. Im always having trouble. It is a very high-end stove that the burners half the time arent working. Its not holding the proper temperature inside. I feel like its a limit. I would put it on 400 but it only went to 300. Viking replaced the burners a couple of times. They come and fix it, but it reoccurs. Theres something wrong with the actual range itself. And then, when I called Viking because of everything that happened to have it serviced again because they canceled my last service due to the COVID, they told me Im out of warranty now. But its the same problem Ive been having since I got the range. Ive called in again but nobody has gotten back to me. They were supposed to push it up to management. I made a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding whats going on.

I used to be a decorator in New York but now Im in Portland. I was doing caregiving for my mom, but I got her into renovating and I wanted to upgrade the whole kitchen. I wanted a sturdy commercial fridge that would still look nice in a residence and Viking Refrigerators already has the reputation. In addition, I like that the interior parts of their refrigerators were metal and not plastic. I had a simpler fridge the first time and I was amazed at how quickly the plastic parts started getting smashed when a bottle fell. I went to Eastbank Contractor Appliances. They represent a bunch of different companies, and what I liked about them was that they team up with Basco Appliances here in Portland. They picked all the brands that they like the best and put together the showroom. So you get good people who are seasoned in the industry. I trust them and they helped me go through everything. So far, I like my fridge and Im very pleased with it. I love the lighting when you open it up. There are lights all over the place. Its LED so I dont worry about wasting energy. Even though Viking Refrigerator was expensive, its worth the price. Its worth it to get something thats going to last because it just pays off in the long run.

Purchased Viking 48 wide by side in 2002. Compressor went out within 6 months, thankfully was under warranty. There was a door recall a few years later AND then another recall for those doors! The company that replaced the doors are familiar with Viking fridges and were able to to be somewhat helpful, suggesting we not place anything within 8 inches of any of the interior vents. We have NEVER been able to get the temp right. We have never been able to keep our fruits and veggies in the produce drawers as they become frozen. If we turn the temp down the milk goes bad, etc. Several of interior the plastic parts have broken under normal use: handle portion of ice maker drawer broke off in my hand, lid of bottom meat/produce drawer snapped off. Now the fridge lights have gone out (all simultaneously.) Try going to the Viking site to find a manual or worse yet parts. Everything there is SO difficult! They sent us a manual and I was able to download two, but none of them show the same control panel as what we have, since when there was a door recall, we received a new control panel as well... I feel sorry for the people that work for Viking. I will never purchase another Viking product. We purchased a high end Thermador range and KitchenAid Micro-Convection oven the same year and have had no problems with those appliances!

Viking is a brand name thats been known for quite some time. We did a fair amount of research and, in my personal opinion, Viking is overpriced fairly significantly. But beyond that, the simplicity of it was important and there arent a lot of electronics involved although one major flaw is having no timer. Our Viking range is not very big but its certainly well-made, well-constructed and very durable. My wife does a lot of baking and she is getting used to the stove. There were some spills on it and we tried to clean them up. We got the manual out and read it. It said to put a wet towel down for a period of time, but that doesnt work at all. It said not to scrub it with abrasive scrubbers and so were trying to figure out how to keep it spotless as we can. I paid to have the range installed and had it all prepared for the installers. I had cut the countertop, vacuumed everything out, and removed the old stove so they had a pretty easy job. One thing I dont understand is Vikings concept of forcing people to buy a stove with a washer. We wanted a stove and we didnt need or want a dishwasher, but that was part of the deal. It was a deal-breaker for me, but my wife was pretty much convinced thats the stove that she wanted. It doesnt make any sense to force somebody to get a washer and I would have rather taken the cost of the dishwasher off the stove and felt much better about that.

My stove had a manufacturing defect and failed to work properly from the outset. The oven would not hold a temperature and could not be calibrated. It took weeks and many, many phone calls and threats to get it repaired. After many requests and escalation to Viking customer relations, Viking finally agreed to send the necessary part by overnight mail. However, they did not make good on this promise. The part did not arrive for another week. We were exceedingly unhappy with the initial defect and with the very poor customer service. We purchased an entire suite of professional-grade Viking kitchen appliances. My wife is a very good cook, so she wanted a gas range with Viking as a name, and we thought the refrigeration would be good too. However, I just had somebody come in to repair my refrigerator cause its a defect. The drain was not designed properly, so it would basically freeze up or clog up at the end of the day and then back up. And then, I ended up with ice below my freezer tray. It would melt on the door below the freezer door and then get my floor wet. As a result, I have cupping on my wood floor. So, not only did I pay the repair company that just recently came over $170-$200, which I havent even been reimbursed yet for, but I also have damaged floor.I havent had Viking contact me regarding that yet, and that was something I was expecting a call on. I reached out to them first, and they informed me that if it was a sealed component, it would be covered under warranty but if it wasnt, it wouldnt be. I ordered a part for the snap tray from a repair company, and I asked about the refrigerator and its leaking characteristics. They mentioned that there was a fix for it, and Viking knows about it. A notice was sent out and apparently, Viking has amnesia with that. They dont know of any notice. Theres no recall, yet its clearly a defective product.

I bought a house on June 1 that has all Viking appliances. Since I bought the house, the start button has broken twice, each time taking 2 weeks to repair. Luckily the old owner purchased an extended warranty so it was covered, but I literally used it twice and the button broke again. He told me to tap very lightly, but even with that, a tiny plastic part cracked and the dishwasher wouldnt work. Then I received a notice that an electrical part in the dishwasher was on recall and would take 14 business days to arrive at my house, at which point I could schedule a repair person to fix it. Again, the dishwasher will be out of service for 4 weeks. I called Viking and asked them to extend the warranty because the dishwasher has so many problems but they declined. They said the start button will be covered for a year, but labor isnt covered once my extended warranty is up. Ive never had a dishwasher problem before, and this one has only worked for 4 washes in the last 3 months. Save a lot of money and aggravation and pick a different one.

My mom is a chef and she said Viking is the best stove made. I like my range a lot. It’s a dual-energy. So, I’ve got a gas stovetop and an electric oven that has a convection. All the convection settings are really awesome. It takes too long to heat up. But once it gets hot, it’s great. The rows are nicer and much more even heating. It’s a very high-quality product. Im happy. The Wolf range was a little bit more money, but from the visit in the store, I didnt see that much difference in quality with the Viking range. One of the things that sold me on the gas stove top is that it has 55,000 Btu burners, and then, it’s got a little tiny one for simmering. That is awesome because the other products that I’ve owned only had one high-power burner, so I couldnt boil water and fry meat at the same time. But I do not have that problem anymore with Viking.

We had a lot of problems with our old refrigerator. It was a nightmare so I didnt want to buy that same band. I wanted an American made refrigerator so I went through a whole lot of options. We owned other Viking appliances so we looked at them at a store. We bought the Viking ref from an appliance store in Minneapolis. They were very nice. They didnt scratch it during the delivery and the delivery guys were very friendly. There were no issues. The Viking ref is not a regular refrigerator. Its built in so it fits a very specific size and it matches the cupboard, so it cant be easily thrown away. You got to fix them. Another thing I really like about it is I installed it myself and bolted it into the wall. They gave me the directions and showed me where and how to bolt it into the wall. It has a lot of nice lighting. My wife noticed that it doesnt get any mold in it because it has an ozone generator so she doesnt have to sit and clean it up. That is the absolute best feature of the Viking ref. The old ref was always moldy and yucky inside and we hated it. There was no egg holder in the door of the Viking ref. They provided a closed egg container where one had to take it up the shelf, open the cover and take an egg out. That was just a pain. So I made really nice trays that sit in my doors. Viking might want to consider doing that because the other company did that. The ice maker tends to run too much ice that it overflows. When you open up the door it dumps the ice out into the cabinet. But that is little bit of a pain compared to my old refrigerator. Its interesting because its the same exact brand of ice maker my old ref uses. They should improve their icemaker because they buy it from the ice maker company. I hope that Viking is better, but I don’t hold that hope. The most important thing will be to determine how long it lasts without giving us any trouble. They were a good company. Were very happy with the refrigeration from Viking.

We purchased the top of the line (so we thought) Viking double wall ovens for our re-model. They arrived with broken glass in the 2 doors. The oven was installed, without the doors, into the custom built cabinet based on the specs from the manufacturer. It didnt fit properly, no matter how hard we pushed on the approx. 400-lb. appliance. There was nothing in the way of it being pushed fully into the cabinet, and finally we realized that the oven itself was twisted a bit so that while the right top corner and bottom corners fit, the top left corner sits out about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. It looks hideous but we live with it because the company wouldnt respond to our concerns. We assume the unit was dropped somewhere before it reached us. Replacement doors finally came, one had broken glass again. New one came and it was installed. Then when I began using the top oven it burned the bottom and left the top undercooked. I thought it was me at first, since I may not have been used to this particular oven. Not me. Its the oven. If I use it, then I lower the temp. 50 degrees and hope for the best. I contacted the company from which we purchased it as well as Viking, but nothing was addressed to remedy the problems and, funny thing, our warranty expired. Then there is the issue of the self-cleaning function which I used maybe 4 or 5 times. I dont use it any more. I am worried, because of the extreme heat coming from the ovens and what I can feel on the wood around it, that it will catch fire. We heard that the self-cleaning is a problem with Viking. Anyway, we limp it along because we spent thousands on it and to replace it is an expense we cant assume right now, but I tell everyone how much I hate our Viking ovens and that they should never buy one. At a home show convention several years ago, the Viking reps were out trying to drum up interest. I told them of my experience and they took my name, etc. with the promise that theyd help me... Right, never happened. Lousy product, lousy customer service.

The Viking Range in our house has been in it longer than we have and weve been here for maybe four years but its pretty good. I got it serviced last Friday to make sure all the parts are working in order and for the most part, everything is working fairly well. I like the griddle part of the range because its fairly easy to use and clean. The whole range is easy to clean because everything pops off fairly easy. Im not a neat freak but its nice to be able to get all the food out of the crevices. Also, cooking on it is fairly easy. But, I cant get the temperature low enough. The low feature is too hot and when I simmer, I cant seem to get close enough to it without igniting the pilot light again. For example, usually with rice, you put on a low simmer and the low setting is just still too hot for it. Also, I dont know if this would interfere with the flame but we have a gas stove and an overhead exhaust and it would be nice to have the exhaust where the oven outtake is. Because instead of having an exhaust over the food, it would just be more on the same plane as the food. Its also nice to not have the fan on because its so loud when Im cooking and I feel like Im in a wind tunnel. But other than those, the functionality of the stove is quite useful. The dual oven is also pretty nice but its cavity cant fit a turkey. You have the three-inch roasting pin, the elevation to that and then you have the bird which has a big breadth to it so Im not able to put it in the oven. But, for the most part, its pretty nice with the conduction and all those features. Then, we have an industrial professional grade, so its raised off the floor a good three inches. You could use that to gain more cavity space. In addition, we have a little warming oven to the side and the width of that is too narrow but the height on it is perfect. I would like it a little bit wider for most dishes and sheet pans.I think its very reliable and very consistent. However, my husband said that if he had his wishes, he wouldnt buy a Viking range again, but he doesnt cook and he doesnt get into the kitchen at all. I think its because its such a big piece of equipment but the actual components of it are very small. Wolf is what he really liked and the dial controls are a lot more flexible based on what youre cooking and the cavity is much bigger. But I would say some positives with Viking is that the cooktop space of the range is very open. I have a lot of big pans but Im able to put two big pans side-by-side without having problems. Also, I can put a small pan on top and not feel like its being swallowed up by the burner.

I purchased a Viking range for my home. I was reading the reviews and I just went for a try. The Viking dealer was very helpful, and everything went well on the installation. The quality of the range is very good. I’m happy with it and I like everything about it.

We had a new $8000 refrigerator from Viking. Over 5 years we had it repaired 18 times. The refrigerator was recalled so Viking charged us half price for a new one about 8 months ago. This evening - all of the food in the freezer is now thawed out. The refrigerator is not getting cold. Youve got to be kidding. Even the replacement of the recalled refrigerator isnt working now after 8 months. We have an old GE refrigerator out in the garage that weve had for 16 years and it still works perfectly with no repairs in 16 years. So tell me, what is better, the EXPENSIVE OVERPRICED 8-MONTH-OLD VIKING - OR 16-YEAR-OLD G.E. that has never needed repair?

Ive had a Viking stove for the past 10 years and I was pretty pleased with the product. And I bought a Viking dishwasher because my old dishwasher, that was approximately over 20 years old, went. So, when my built-in refrigerator went as well, I got a Viking refrigerator because I said, Im just gonna get a Viking. Everything else is Viking. I got my Viking refrigerator through P. C. Richard. In fact, I bought pretty much all my appliances through them and theyve been pretty good.I love my Viking refrigerator. Its roomy and holds a lot. So far, its a great product, so Im happy. I like the fact that the lighting is wonderful. You can see everything thats in it. In addition, I like the way that they have the drawers stacked. I have extra room to put other things in that I couldnt do with my other refrigerator because I had a side-by-side refrigerator then. So, if I had a wide tray, I could never fit it in that other refrigerator. But this one holds everything beautifully. The freezer is a little small, though. It holds a little less than my other refrigerator did but thats okay.

Viking 36 inch convection range. I prefer gas but we dont have that option, so I went with the electric convection model. I chose Viking because of their reputation. I am not a fan of this range. The 36 inch range has four burners with the smallest burners in the front. The right side burners can be used as a single cooking zone, but the heat isnt consistent. All of the burners adjust the temperature throughout cooking which I suppose is a good feature unless youre trying to boil water. The oven is noisy even without the convection. The oven is self cleaning but it takes 8 hours to go through the cycle! Make sure your installer is familiar with Viking. Ours was not. He was there all day trying to get the range installed, and we had to have a technician back immediately to make adjustments. The range is nothing special for the money. It isnt cheap or cheap looking, but I have had much less expensive ranges that I liked better than this one. I find this range very frustrating to work with. The 36 inch, ceramic top convection model ran about $5000. Its self cleaning, assuming you have the 8 hours needed. The middle rack in the oven glides beautifully which avoids spilling of quiches, souffles, etc. The features I find the least appealing are the ceramic top and the tiny burners in the front. The ceramic is impossible to keep clean and the small burners dont heat the pan evenly. Also, the knobs dont lock into place, so you constantly have to check the settings. The burners self regulate, so the burner will reduce the heat throughout cooking. This becomes very frustrating if you are trying to boil water. Gas is probably more consistent. The oven seems small. The racks do not cook evenly, so you cant use all three simultaneously. I cant tell any difference between convection and non-convection cooking except convection is louder.
