My Viking refrigerator and dishwasher are just over four years old. We have had constant problems with the fridge beginning within a year of purchase. Ice maker replaced twice, unit not cooling, plastic cracking, doors not sealing. We have had the entire unit replaced, since then the ice maker is still working but the plastic is cracking again on the covers to the butter storage. The dishwasher has been repaired at least twice, once due to a fire hazard recall. Now it doesnt dry the dishes and needs repair again. In over 30 years of homeownership I have owned several homes with other appliance brands at much lower cost - have never had any single appliance come even close to having major issues such as this. When I paid top dollar for professional appliances I never expected this low level of quality.

My professional freestanding dual fuel range and oven has been a major bust
My professional freestanding dual fuel range and oven has been a major bust! I have owned it for 8 years and so far I have had to replace the entire electric control panel. Then the other day I was using the self cleaning function and my control board underneath caught on fire. Sparks and fire coming up from underneath the unit. So extremely scary and dangerous. Viking has nothing say except sorry. I now need $1,100.00 in parts and one of the items is out of stock and they don’t have ETA. The first time my Oven broke it was not useable for 4 weeks!!!! This time they can’t even give me an idea of timing. The killer is I was deciding between a Wolf and Viking and I clearly chose poorly. Carefully think about your high end purchase.

My experience with our Viking range has been good so far. We have one issue when we first got it, but it was a floor model, so thats understandable. One of the burners wasnt working, but they came in and they repaired it. Also, I did have a little bit of an issue with the vendor they used. Its the only authorized repair facility in the area. They dropped the ball a little bit with time. They got the part, and then they forgot to call me, and I had to call them after about three weeks after that.I paid that amount of money for a range and I expect to have it working, but Viking didnt really do anything. Its a little upsetting. I was expecting them to do something, but they just told me that it is what it is. And so, thats the only real issue. I waited about eight weeks from the time I got the stove until the time it was fixed. But the stove itself is doing great. I like the name of the brand and what I thought they stood for, and other than that, the quality of the range is incredible. We have one of the cast iron griddles. We use it a lot. We changed to one of the accessory pieces that they have that should come in cast iron, which we prefer over the stainless steel attachment that it comes with. But its great. We love it.

We have Viking in our primary home and we like the quality of the appliances as well as the pricing for the quality that we get. So we got the whole package, wherein if you pull up the stove you get the dishwasher, and if you buy the refrigerator you get the hood. We like all of it and how the refrigerator looks in addition to how it functions. We also had a very good experience with the dealer.

I had a Viking cooktop before and last August, I had a Viking Range installed. Since I didn’t want all the electronics that most ranges have and wanted to keep it simple and fewer things to break, I went with Viking and it seemed to meet that need. I had a very good experience with the company where I got the range from and they were very helpful. I feel good about the quality of the range. I wish the oven was a little deeper but having the convection part, I love the depths of the oven. The range is working well and is easy to use, and a lot of my friends have Vikings too.

We’ve just moved into a new build and we got to pick the appliances, and the contractor ordered everything for us. I like the fact that the Viking ranges rolling shelf that can roll in and out and I can actually adjust the height of it because a lot of ovens that I’ve seen before were fixed in a certain place. So, that’s handy and it seems to cook evenly. We like everything about it - the way it looks, the little lights that come on it, where the knobs are, and it also functions well. We’re very happy with it. Its of very good quality and its worth spending the extra money.

I thought Viking had a good reputation and high-quality appliances. Ive had my Viking refrigerator since November 1st and the buying process was fine. The rebate process was pretty good too. It’s just that the $10,000 refrigerator isn’t working that great. It doesn’t make ice and/or whatever makes the ice sort of bloated out and puts frost all over the freezer. Viking customer service sent out a local firm to fix the problem and they came out multiple times. They said they fixed the refrigerator twice but it’s still not fixed. I’m not feeling too good and I need to call Viking back again. My wife is screaming at me to do so.

We were very excited 4 years ago to be able to afford our first “professional” range. Purchased a Viking and it was terrible. $1000 motherboard repair followed by a broken door. Dumping today. Nice waste of $5500. No customer support from Viking during any of this. Not even help finding a repair option in our area. Will never purchase another Viking product.

We special ordered our Viking range in white on May 13, 2017 and were told it would be 6-8 weeks for delivery. Our range was delivered August 5th with no explanation of the delay. When our range was removed from its pallet and packing material removed, we discovered the door and lower cover panel were both dented. Our selling dealer quickly noted the damage, but installed the range with the promise to have both pieces replaced. It is now November 10th and we are finally scheduled to have the damaged pieces replaced on 11/18. We are patient people, but the delay in the original delivery date and the long wait for replacement parts seems unreasonable. No reason was ever given for either delay and that makes our experience with Viking only satisfactory. We were fortunate that the operation of our range was not compromised and have been using it since delivery in August. It performs flawlessly and does meet our cooking needs. However, the center burner doesnt seem to work correctly (it never goes to high) but we are hopeful that when the service tech comes to replace the dented pieces, he/she can make a simple adjustment. My husband and I do wish that there was direct communication from Viking beginning at the original order date. To date, we have never heard directly from Viking until this. Knowing the status of our order would have been much appreciated, given the substantial cost of our Viking.

I had a kitchen remodel and they installed the Viking range, and the unit itself was level front to back and side to side. But the cooking surfaces, which include the range top and the ovens, were not level. They dipped down in the front. I only noticed it when I was making Christmas morning breakfast and I was cooking pounds of bacon on the griddle that covers both the burners. All the grease was collecting in the front of the griddle, which is not safe. If I had not been paying attention, it would have overflowed into the front, right into the burner and cause a fire.I called Viking to state that I had this issue, and they sent one of their authorized service people to come out and look at it. The tech guy was by himself and he couldn’t do much. He fiddled around and then he left. I got a phone call a couple of weeks later that said, “Your case has been closed. There is nothing that can be done with your range. I went back to Viking and they were like, “We got a copy of the report and the report states that it’s an installation problem which is not our issue. You need to go back to whoever installed it.” When they came out to look at my range, my contractor was here. He was talking to the service man and said, “Everything is perfect. I followed all the instructions. Everything is laid out the way it’s supposed to be. Nothing is butting up against it.” It went back and forth and finally, I asked for another different authorized service company to come out. Before they came out, Viking called me and said, “This second opinion you’re getting is not covered.” The second service company came out, and they came out with two guys. The older gentleman looked at the range and said, “Your surface isn’t level.” They took care of it and now its level. He gave me my slip and I was like, “How much do I owe you?” He said, “We are charging Viking for this. It is their problem. You’re not paying for this.” Overall the Viking range is a wonderful thing to cook on when everything is okay. Up until recently, I was cooking for a very large family and boys eat a lot of food on a four-burner cooktop. Now I have an eight-burner range so I can cook to my heart’s content and not have to shuffle things around, shove them in the oven or put them in the grill. I got the range and it came with a microwave drawer which is wonderful. The only thing that I did not get was the range hood because they charge you for it and then they charge you for the fan motors separately.

Im in the culinary industry and I always knew that I wanted a more professional series. I knew Viking was a good way to go because they have a great reputation. I like my Viking range and Ive been happy with it. It has a better coverage on the burners which I love. They burn higher more than the average range. My water boils faster and food cooks faster. We had a few bumps in the beginning but Im okay now. I also had a good experience with their dealer. They were professional and had good knowledge of the products. When I had issues, they were pretty very responsive and directed me to the right places.

I liked the Viking brand and since my friends had their products, I purchased a Viking refrigerator. They were slow to deliver and it took a while to get everything moving. I like the French doors and the freezer on the bottom of my refrigerator. But my ice maker went out already so I’m a little skeptical about its quality. I have their stove-top as well and the metal piece has discolored on one of them. When I had the service man here, I asked him about it and he said sometimes that’ll happen to those black pieces in the middle of the stove, so I was disappointed by that too.

We purchased a 36 Viking Range model #VDSC5366BSS with 6 sealed burners, sealed broiler, sealed heating element and have had three significant issues. The first, a cracked broiler occurred in the first month after installation. The second time, the broiler broke (November, 2012). We could not get a technician to fix it for weeks (still not fixed until today). Today (Nov. 21, 2012), the day before Thanksgiving, the entire oven does not work. We have called Viking, we have called the distributor (Gene Schick company) and we have called local service people but no one could service this unit. This Viking series has design flaws and should be recalled. Viking is expensive to buy and expensive to repair. My recommendation is do not purchase.

Within 3 months, I started having problems with all three appliances. The decals wiped off. When I complained to Viking, they said that cosmetics were not covered after 3 months. I dont know if my oven is on or what the temperature is. How is this cosmetic? I have had dozens of visits from Viking repair experts. They dont know how to order the correct parts. I have been taken away from my work for nothing. They come out but they leave without accomplishing a thing. I have had 2 door hinge repairs and the refrigerator will not automatically close. Viking has driven me insane. With all the money they have spent trying to repair my appliances, they should have just replaced the items free of charge. We, the consumer, are the ones suffering while they sit back and laugh. Dont ever buy Viking products. You will be sorry.

Both our built-in freezer and refrigerator were purchased brand new with extended warranties. Freezer constantly breaks down and the technician cannot fix it right away and they have to keep coming back to change parts and still it take 3 to 4 weeks sometimes to fix it. That is why I purchased a spare Kenmore freezer used for $200.00 and it works better than my $5000.00 dollars Viking freezer, it does not break down. The refrigerator is falling apart. All the drawers are all broken or cracked from change in temperature and the warranty does not cover bad quality products. In short my recommendation to all Americans is dont buy Viking, it is a very bad company with a big line of bad products and bad customer service. My previous built-in refrigerator and freezer was Thermador and I did not have any problem for 24 years.

I had a Viking refrigerator in my first house and then I got a new one now. It looks magnificent but I cant tell if the quality is better. My last refrigerator did not break twice but the new one did. The freezer and the refrigerator doors should stop at about 100 degrees and both of them broke, which happened twice. I went through a dealer in a showroom. They suggested Viking and presented it. Since on the day we had it installed, we kept on having issues. We had a cracked hinge which is steel right from the beginning. Right now it’s making a noise when opened. There was also a loose fan inside that was making a noise at the beginning. That would have to be repaired. There was another issue with the bottom drawer, the front door alignment, which is still not perfect. They said it cannot be corrected anymore. If I call directly to Viking, they seemed not very helpful directly. They basically try to avoid any replacement or anything like that because we had a big issue with the first refrigerator, which we had to throw out. That one was brand new that was damaged right at the beginning. This is our second brand-new refrigerator, again with issues. Very pricey too. I have another issue with my stove now, and it’s also Viking. Im not happy. Maybe we just had bad luck, but definitely not buying Viking again. On the other hand, we are very happy with the local service they contracted with. These guys are very responsive and very knowledgeable. They fixed everything pretty much quickly, and were really very courteous. That was a good experience with them. But overall so far, it’s a little bit of a disappointment. We never expected from the beginning to have the service over so many times since it’s brand new. I was actually about to call today again ‘cause there’s another issue. With this price point, buying brand-new appliances are a huge investment for many, many years for me. It’s definitely not worth the price.

We had a Sub-Zero and then we decided to try a Viking. We wanted a freezer on the bottom rather than the side to side, and it’s stainless steel. However, we’ve had some problems with the freezer as it stopped working. Somebody came in and defrosted the drain line or whatever that gets clogged up with a hair dryer. We had to spend about $400 to $500 to get that fixed as it was out of the warranty. Also, Im not all that impressed with the set up for the authorized repair. We called customer service, and the repair people are coming again tomorrow. But it’s like I’m talking to somebody where I got a phone bank somewhere, and it’s not a local business. For one thing, we can’t find the stupid model number or the serial number. They’re underneath somewhere strange in the back of the freezer, and one can’t get down there to see it. Also, the other day, one of those bookcases with the sliding shelves on the door broke apart for no reason. I had to order from Viking a new one for a couple hundred dollars for half of one of those bookcase sliding units. It’s so stupid that I’m trying to get that plastic. This unit just broke apart for no reason, and then I’m trying to go find the model number and the serial number so that I could talk intelligently with Viking support, and I can’t get it. The only way I found it was to go back to the original invoice from ABW who were the people who get all the appliance for us when we were renovating the kitchen. Other than having these incidents, Viking is a good refrigerator and we like it.

Up until it broke, I was quite happy with my Viking refrigerator. But it broke in November (the evaporator failed - still under warranty). A service company came, diagnosed the problem and ordered the part December 5. Today it is March 10. In February the appliance repair company called Viking and they were told the part would come in February 26 and that it would be sent out by overnight air when it arrived. February 26 came and went. No word.Yesterday I called Viking and spoke to a customer service rep who took my info and told me someone would call me back. No one called. Today I called and spoke to a different customer service rep and was told that there is no expected arrival time of these parts to the Viking factory. I was told some people are waiting 6 months or a year. Im sorry but I call BS on that.Heres the thing: This is a popular model of refrigerator. Clearly they must be getting these parts at the factory and installing them in new product to be sold while ignoring current customers like me. Not only is this bad business, I believe it is dishonest when they tell me that none of these parts have come in. Im kind of an in internet guy. This is the first review of this situation that I have left. There will be more. Viking is making a mistake. If they rectify it I will come back and modify this review. But dont hold your breath. And if you want your food cold, definitely consider what might happen if your Viking refrigerator stops working.

Viking is a good higher end brand. Its not as expensive as some of the ultra-high-end brands. When we decided to do the renovation this year, we put in all of Viking appliances. Im really happy with them. As I was cleaning the stove the other night, I really like it. Its easy to clean. It looks more of a restaurant style kitchen. It looks impressive. It feels good. His words hopefully thats the issue, if its not then Viking will switch it for another one. I called to get the status and this time they said 10 days! We were a little disappointed because our old kitchen had a custom built-in refrigerator work 23 years and never had a problem before it broke down. The Viking refrigerator door could not close properly because a mullion glide did not fit. The problem did not occur after the first service and the second service occurred this afternoon where the rep was very courteous and knowledgeable. The servicemen delivered and it seems working now.

Ive known Viking from many years ago in the food service business. I wasn’t going with the Viking Refrigerator, but with the Viking cooktop. Both appliances came as a package deal and the sales pitch was one item would be free, so it was easier for me to do that. I would have never gone with Viking for my refrigeration purchase. I’ve been using the refrigerator for about a month now and it appears very sturdy and I feel its gonna last. It also appears to do a great job to have the room that I thought it did for its size. I also like the digital controls on top that tells me what’s going onPeople have to understand the options that come with their Viking Refrigerator, like the ice maker versus non-ice maker, down to if they have water filtration for access to waterspouts. Viking is really there when you’re looking at the quality. On the other hand, Viking is not sitting extremely well with me on the customer service side. I had the direct vent and it hasn’t worked since day one. After three months, they finally decided to replace it. I saved my money for a very long time for those items and they are the biggest expense Ive ever made on appliances. It was quite depressing knowing that Viking didn’t stand by some of their equipment. So, be cautious.

The first problem I had with my range is the oven taking forever to preheat. Then an incessant clicking began on the burners. I was lucky enough to purchase a repair contract for $65.00 for a year. They fixed the oven preheating problem and also fixed the clicking problem, but now it has began again. It is so annoying. My burners do work, but I want to scream sometimes when I am trying to use all of the burners.

What I liked about Viking was the unwavering quality but I dont think thats true anymore. The Viking appliances that I have that were supplied with the apartment are of a much lower quality than I had come to expect from them. Theyre only a couple of years old but Im not happy with them. Im very disappointed with Viking and Im looking to replace the appliances that I have. With the open burner range, it feels very rickety and I have to take it apart to clean it quite often. But Im fearful about cleaning it. Looking inside, there are these loose wires and I need to clean the inside very carefully for fear that I will dislodge some wire or something. Also, I have a dishwasher and a microwave that have failed and the refrigerator freezes milk but doesnt have even temperature regulation. They replaced the microwave fairly quickly but when the dishwasher broke, I was without a dishwasher for almost two months. Viking seems to be able to replace things, but they dont seem to be able to fix things.

UPDATED 12/11/2020: Ive had an appliance repair person to the house 5 times since then and the cooktop is still having issues. Good luck getting a return call from Viking Customer Service. It took 3 calls (with messages left) to get a call back the last time. I just left another message today. The repairman left after replacing the burner plate and was sent a faulty switch by Viking so its still not working. Never again will I purchase a Viking appliance. I tried to buy American and help out my fellow Americans, but its no good. I dont know what happened to this company. Id always heard good things about them. We have a Viking double oven and a Viking microwave as well. NEVER again.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased the 30 Induction Cooktop in April 2020. Model (VICU53014BST). Honestly we loved the way it works; boils water in less than 1 minute and cooks evenly. 2 months in, 2 of the 4 burners stopped working. Had the dealer/repair company come out and they determined it was the generator board ($2800). Its covered under warranty for 2 years, so we just have to wait. They ordered the new generator board, got it in, and came out to install it. It was defective. Its been 5 days and we havent heard anything. I called Viking and they said I just had to wait for the repair company. My disappointment is that we paid over $4000 for a cooktop thats worked about 2 months, and then we got a defective repair part. I expected much better from Viking. I wanted to write this review to let those who are considering this brand to know what to expect. Im not sure I would buy a Viking again. Their response was very poor and very un-empathetic.

We bought an entire set of Viking appliances: vegetable drawer, beverage fridge, and ovens. The fridge specifically has been fantastic, just the quality of it and the features that it has. Having the freezer at the bottom is a great feature. We have the two drawers there that pull out separately. Also, theres a separate rolling tray that separates between the upper and lower half of the freezer itself, which is great. We also like that since the door is a French door, we can put in wider items there like a tray of longer cake, whereas if its double doors, it wouldnt be like that. We highly recommend it and its a game-changer.

I had Viking for 14 years and I never had a problem with it. I liked it very much and decided to go with it again. The first one I had, I liked its dependability and the way it cooked. It was a high performing stove, and I liked that. What I have now is the same model, newer, and it’s no different. I had two problems however. I ordered my Viking range and when it came, there was a gas leak in it. The Viking person could not find any smell of gas, and he thought I was crazy. I had the gas company out and they found that it was inside the stove. Then the second time, they took that stove away and gave me another one, and I had a defect in that one also. So, I’m on my third stove, but it’s finally the right one. The installation teams have been fine too.

But this is the only one problem I got. The rest is good. I like the way the oven cooks. And every time I need customer service they come. They adjust stuff. Like the last time the extra piece in the back was too loose, and they tried to make it nice and strong. They put an extra screw. I got good service. I’ve been very pleased with them. After 4 repairs on an original and 10 repairs on a complete replacement Viking double wall oven, we gave up. We couldnt spend any more time waiting the four-hour window for repairmen, and no correction to maintaining a constant oven temp. Two repairmen broke fingers during repairs, no lie. Viking warranty people lacked response often, and convinced me to keep trying. Also, the cook top grates have little rubber feet that kept melting and falling off. DANGEROUS! Replaced about 6 times. Ten years later, dozens of burnt or under cooked meals, cookies etc., we are finally able to and frustrated enough to get something new. The hesitation is the cabinet was cut larger to fit Viking. And what do you buy? This is a short version on the problems with Viking and Viking associates. I could go on and on. BUY SOMETHING ELSE and save your sanity.

The oven that we bought from Viking took about eight months to ship and when it came, it was damaged. We had to wait another month and a half to fix one part, so it could be fully operational. So, I dont have a lot of confidence that the rest of the machine is going to last that long. The broiler specifically had to be rebuilt in our house. The microwave hasnt worked properly since installation and after three months, we finally got Viking to replace it instead of fixing it. Its nice having a high BTU range, which was what I was looking for, as a home chef. The oven seems to be working fine and the microwave has some good features if it would work. There should be open communication between the retailer and the Viking Middleby company. Im disappointed. If I had known now what we would have gone through, I probably would have chosen a different option. We were simply upgrading our kitchen and we had something that was working that we got rid of for this.

We have a Viking stove and an oven as well. Then, we were shopping around for a new stove and we really liked our Viking stove. They stopped selling Viking up here in Canada and when we bought the stove, it was just at the point when Viking lost that trademark. We were looking for a stove that didn’t have a lot of sort of electronics but would be really a good gas stove. It’s an electric oven and that would stand the test of time. The salesperson really highly recommended the stove and she was right. We love it. Then, when it came time to replace our fridge, we just naturally leaned towards looking for a fridge that had the same quality. We were lucked out that the timing was such that they started selling Viking again here in Canada.I love the icemaker that’s in the pullout drawer. We didn’t think we wanted any kind of an icemaker or a water dispenser but this one came with the ice dispenser inside and we love that. We use it all the time. And I love the layout of the drawers on the inside, the flexibility with being able to move the shelves around. I love that the shelves are glass. They’re clear so I can see through into them. Also, there are lots of space in the bottom and there’s like a pullout temperature control drawer that holds lots and lots of fruits and vegetables in there. They’re smartly designed and its a really nice fridge. One thing that would be great would be if it was easier for us to get our hands on the replacement water filters and the air filters. Its a little bit of a challenge. They have to get ordered from the States and then they go to the appliance store. It takes a long time. Other than that, I would highly recommend Viking.

The Viking Pro dishwasher we had was recalled because the heater would start fires, apparently about 20 of them! So they sent a tech to fix it - that took 3 months! So we washed dishes by hand. Then after they supposedly fixed the dishwasher it would give error codes like flooding, but it was not doing that it just would stop mid cycle - sometimes. So they came again after much complaining and could not fix it and suggested it MIGHT be a control board problem. Even though when they ran diagnostics there was nothing found to be broken. It was clear to me that fixing the heater problem caused the machine to randomly stop, yet they refused to fix it. Viking wanted to charge me for a new controller board so adding $400 to a unit I already do not trust. Clearly if it worked before they took it apart and replaced the wiring harness and heater then something they did during the repair broke something else!

I was choosing between a Wolf or a Viking and at that time, Viking was having a rebate so I went with them. I like that it was made in America and have the stickers on it but the quality is horrible. On Thanksgiving day, it caught on fire. The conduction oven doesnt work and the regulator for the gas has had to be adjusted three times. The product is a total lemon. Im working with the supplier who says hes working on my behalf with Viking and I am going to go to every review site I can find and post if they dont do something to remedy this $5,000 stove that I invested in. Prior to when I first built my house, I bought good appliances and I was hoping that this Viking would be even better and this would be the last range that I would have to purchase, being of the quality. But every time I bake, it rattles the vent or fan but theyve tried taping it.My husband and I are so disappointed. We made this decision together. I cook all the time and it doesnt even completely work. It caught on fire because they didnt connect it to the gas thing properly. It wasnt a plumbers fault. They didnt make the stove correctly so I am upset. Its documented through the repair person including the type of visits. I even had a plumber come and look at it separately from the repair person. Even the repair person said Viking is not very good at standing by their equipment once we get it. And thats from the person whos selling it in his store. Unfortunately, Im all the way in Hawaii so I realize they dont want to pay shipping. I had a KitchenAid prior to this and I didnt want an electronic motherboard. That was another big decision maker, cause its very humid in Hawaii. In Vikng, the knobs are on the front so I felt its a better investment cause in the long run the motherboards breakdown. Also, theyve had to move the range in and out and its gotten scratched, not because of anything Ive done. The racks are now uneven inside of it because the repair guy has had to take them in and out so many times. My husbands tried fixing it himself but the only thing thing that works properly are the burners on the top and thats it. Everything else is wrong. Ive had to call Viking when it first caught on fire. Its still under warranty but it is only good for so far. And in the first three months, this thing has had four repairs and thats not right. They should try to work with me and replace it. But theres been no contact and no accountability.

We purchased a complete Viking kitchen which included a range top, downdraft hood, a dishwasher, a Dutch oven, the refrigerator and the convection microwave. We’re satisfied with everything except for the refrigerator because every time you open the freezer, the ice overflows to the floor and I think it’s a design flaw. It doesn’t happen every single time, but the ice builds up and theres no back on the refrigerator, so it goes straight down and falls on the floor. So, somebody has to get to the floor and pick up the ice cubes. But I like the digital controls of the fridge and everything else is fine. Im very surprised about this one item and I know that LG makes their refrigerators so that may be the issue here, but I have heard only good things. I did a research because I know that previously, there were problems with the Viking refrigerators, and I was assured that that had been taken care of. It may be a minor adjustment but weve only had it set in place for three weeks, so weve been dealing with it. If it continues, then Im gonna rattle some cages.

When we first got the refrigerator, the bottom of the freezer started filling up with ice. The technician came out. Somehow, in the construction of the refrigerator, all this insulation had been sprayed down the tubes and supposed to drain that stuff out. They replaced the whole refrigerator. But then the bottom of each of the doors of the new refrigerator were all clogged up with the same sort of spray foam insulation. The technician came out again said that the doors needed to be replaced. NOW, Im going on five months waiting for that. Viking is just waiting for the new doors to be manufactured. The refrigerator works, but its not right yet, and I took a five-year extended warranty on it. With this defect, Im wondering if that five-year extended warranty is going to be extended when I finally get a refrigerator that works properly. Ive known about Viking forever and as a matter of fact, the brother of one of my friends in Iowa used to be a distributor for Viking. I had a GE Profile that broke down after about five years and I was not about to put any money into it, so I thought Id invest in a Viking. Ive dealt with the dealer, Abt, before for other things and I got my Viking refrigerator from them. The guys who installed it were absolutely wonderful and they tried not to scratch floors. They did a good job and it was first class as far as installation. While the water for the GE was hooked up with plastic, the Viking has a nice metal flexible pipe. Howeve, the bottom drawer broke apart when I pulled it out. A gentleman came out, looked at it, and said that theyll send me a new one. They sent another drawer out and so that was no problem. Another thing also is that every time I looked at the temperature on the GE, it was the same temperature on my little thermometer. On the Viking, the temperature jumps around so it does things differently. Still, it runs quite a bit more than my GE ran.

I discovered the recall on or about January 25, 2016, when my units electrical circuit ceased operation and I inquired about service. Thankfully no fire. I called the recall hotline, (800) 241-7239, was assigned Customer ID No. **, and was promised a repair kit would be delivered to my home within 15 business days. On March 1, 2016, I call back to the hotline to report that the repair kit still had not arrived, and I was advised that the issue was escalated and that another kit would be sent because they could not trace the 1st one. On March 24, 2016, I again called the hotline because no repair kit has been received. I was told that the company answering the hotline reported the matter to Viking and while I was placed on hold, they tried without success to reach Viking. VIKING 30w ALL GAS RANGE 4 BURNERS CONVECTION MANUAL CLEAN OVEN: Purchased NEW in 2007. Initial cost: $3,480. To date, have spent $868.05 in repairs, and it is still a faulty stove. When using the oven (baking) the knobs that control the range become so HOT you cannot touch them. They do not get warm, they get HOT... so hot you jerk your hand away. Weve had the authorized technician out multiple times to troubleshoot and replace burnt/melted parts. The DSI Unit has been replaced twice. The therm and board have been replace at least once. We have notified VIKING, and their response has been less than stellar. The current board/DSI does not melt and die, rather it just quits working: the oven shuts itself off and wont work until it has cooled down. Needless to say, this is POOR POOR POOR. What was a little unusual was that they didnt have the stuff in-stock and we had to wait for production and delivery for about a month. The installation was rather annoying too. The guys that delivered it werent plumbers, so they took out our existing refrigerator, put it in the garage where we wanted it, and left the Viking out in the garage as well because they couldnt install the water element. I will miss this Easter as well since the parts wont be in by then. As a cook this is unacceptable to me and Viking’s potential customers should be aware of this. It will have been 4 months for me to receive a new ribbon element with glass part # 013930-000 IF I get it by April. I think Viking potential customers should be aware of the lack of customer service in parts with Viking. Also Viking customer service didnt seem to care about my issue and basically had the too bad for you attitude. We have a 6 burner Viking range top and a Viking double oven in a top end house. It was quite lengthy to get the proper technician to come and look at it. Theres a whole process that I experienced talking to the company and the company has another company hired for public relations. I got an email from that second company that the issues were being looked at. Then the same second company recommended the local tech but I wasnt happy with the tech that worked initially. The local company that was hired to look at the things that are not functioning reported something that wasnt complete. So, I had to recall the technician and another technician came. They ordered the parts that were malfunctioning and they installed it. The second tech finally solved it but it was about two months of smelling gas and its been quite stressful. The process could be something more straightforward like you talk to the company and get a response from the company. There are no middlemen and no broken chain of relaying the problems that are reported.

I knew a couple of people who have Viking Ranges and they spoke highly of them. Viking also has a reputation that they stand behind their product and their ranges are very good at heating. However, I had a big issue when I first purchased the stove. I bought it from a store and they shipped it to the wrong place. They said that Viking had some issue then they said someone else had some issue. I was supposed to get it in November but I ended up getting it in January. I finally just called Best Buy and said I’m cancelling the order, then I placed a second order through AJ Madison which delivered it on time.I got the one with six open burners that deliver equivalent heat. So far, the stove has been great but I had two issues before with the stove. First, the oven conked out on me. I called Viking then the warranty people came over, looked at the oven, and fixed the spark igniter that was not working. The second issue was the ventilation hood and for whatever reason, the switch on it stopped working. So, the techs had to come in with a switch part. That took a little longer, though, since they said that they’re usually slow to get parts from Viking. I called them on a Monday and they were supposed to come on a Friday, but they said that they were two weeks out, so I waited a little bit. Both issues have been taken care of and Ive been very pleased with Viking.

Ive known about Viking for years. Ive had Sub-Zero for years, but we just replaced it with the Viking. I liked the quality of the Viking refrigerator I received. It’s a side-by-side refrigerator. However, there’s one thing I don’t like and that is there are no shelves on the freezer side of the door. There are shelves on the door on the top, but just not on the bottom. I’m used to the Sub-Zero having the shelving all the way down on the door.

I bought a new home and Viking came with it. I like that the appliance cooks well. To be honest though, I haven’t had the best experiences. We’ve had to have some repairs for every appliance since I’ve lived here in one year of owning brand-new products. So I’m not exceptionally thrilled. I have a fridge, a stovetop and a microwave. There was some build-up of ice in the freezer. The most aggravating part is that I sit and wait for installers all day long. Then, they do it over and over and over, so it doesn’t sit very well. I had three times they had to come out for the freezer and the stovetop. Twice they had to come out for the microwave. But at this moment, everything is working fine.

We went into a store and found the Viking range to my liking. It has eight burners. All the other ones came with six and a griddle. I can do all eight burners with no griddle. Chuck was my dealer and he was absolutely wonderful. He listened to everything that we had to say, gave us input when we asked for it, and he wasn’t pushy. He didn’t try to give us something that we didn’t want.

I said to the artist that someday, Im going to have a Viking range and now I have one. I had the one with six burners on top and its wonderful. Also, the quality is pretty phenomenal. I didnt mind my Whirlpool range but it does not compare. I love my Viking range.

Four years ago we bought Viking appliances and Christine, the Stephen King creation, took over the dishwasher. One replacement and 4 repairmen later, blowup. From my wifes FB post: We had a little post-Christmas surprise today... the Viking dishwasher backed up, flooded our newly refinished hardwood floors, newly painted basement and new carpets. You could of water skied through our kitchen this morning. Then the laws of gravity took over and you could have water skied though my downstairs office. Guess what the Viking Distributor is getting for a New Years present... I hope he has a big, solid and waterproof desk!

The first person we dealt with at the Viking dealer was really bad at his job. He only did the bare minimum for customer service and didnt really care about it. The second was fantastic, though. She was attentive, helpful and did what we needed to get done with the same information that was provided to the first guy. Weve had a good experience with them. The repair company that they referred to us came out the next day to repair our freezer after the other repair company could come only after two weeks. Its really nice that we were given accommodations. Now its done so thats great. However, the refrigerator is very shallow. It needs to be deeper so it can fit more stuff but other than that, its great. Im very satisfied with my Viking experience. Theyre easy to work with and I appreciate the above and beyond customer service.

We switched it to Viking and Ive been really happy with it so far. But the back of the range has a cut-in, assuming that your gas feed comes on the left side. Our feed comes in on the right side so we had to slide the range out until we were able to move our gas feed to the left side. If it had probably cut out going across it and the air would cut out, that would have been much better than having a big cut-out only on one side.

We wanted a Viking Refrigerator, design and character-wise for the house. As of now, the refrigerator portion is working. The freezer is intermittent and the icemaker does not work at all. It was a brand-new fridge that stopped working after a couple of weeks. Weve contacted them and they scheduled a third-party to come. We had to wait a couple of weeks before they were able to come out and look at it. The guy comes out and confirms that the fridge doesnt work. He wasnt sure what was wrong and had to order some parts. Weeks and weeks and weeks went by and they are still not scheduled to come back to install what they ordered. Plus, the dealer was horrible.

Were happy with the range but the purchase experience was not without difficulties. Immediately after installation, three warranty service calls were necessary due to faulty wiring on the convection fan and broiler ignition failures. The issues were not due to shipping. The stove came with a list of quality control checks but obviously, the factory is hasty in final QC. Its a pity because the build and design are so nice. Checking its operation at the factory would have revealed the problems and saved everyone a lot of inconvenience.

But we havent had our Viking fridge for very long when the door opened and got a dent because it hit the cabinet. We had a refrigerator for 15 years and it never had a ding in it. We thought Viking had a good reputation. We bought a brand new Viking stove oven but it was defective from the start. It has been months since we reported the issue and Viking has been looking into it. However, it has been extremely slow and unsatisfactory plus we have to keep doing the follow-up. They had to order parts and it was absurdly a long time. They should be able to put the order and have it on a day or two and not weeks then tell us its on back order. We do have a service call. They said that the parts came in and its gonna fix it.Viking is poorly handling our situation. We asked for this thing to be escalated weeks and months ago but it doesnt go anywhere. Weve been trying to talk to someone in quality control since they should know about the production issue and fix it. We got promises that they will get back to us but no one does that. They also promised that they would send us a summary via email and there is no email. At this point, we’re clearly not happy Viking customers and we would never ever recommend a Viking product.

We had a horrible time with our Viking when we first got it in. I contacted Viking and they got on the ball and got the range serviced. I liked the people I dealt with. Also, the range cooks good, although Im not used to the oven yet. It seems like my cakes and stuff have been all right but with biscuits, Im having to put it up on a higher temperature to even get them to brown good. That bothers me. And the quality inside the oven kind of disappointed me. The racks from the other stove that I had were more of a quality than the ones I have now. Also, in the book, it says to use just soap and water for cleaning but that wont do it all the time. That worries me. Its very important to have a product that you can clean with other than just soap and water.

Weve heard about Viking from friends since we moved to the US. The realtors also recommended them and told us that they were good for the reselling of the house. So, we went with Viking for their reputation and we bought a built-in refrigerator from them. We love its looks and the lights on the side, and how spacious and practical it is. So far, everything has been great with Viking.

Viking has been around a long time. We were looking for a range for our house, but at the time when we were remodeling our kitchen, I knew Viking was a good product, but they didn’t make the 32-inch range and we needed that size. We do a lot of cooking and Viking has a good reputation. Other folks that I know have them and really like them. The look and the reputation of the product made us choose them. I really like its quality, the way it feels and the burners. All the burners are the same size and they heat really fast. The grates on top come off, all 6 pieces of them, which makes it really easy to clean. We got the one with the ceramic top that seals, and we had installed about two months ago. Were really happy with the Viking range and I’m looking forward to getting a Viking dishwasher next.

But I would have never bought a Viking refrigerator. It’s not where I think their strength is. They didnt install the fan. We had a water problem on our floor and we had to get the guy out. Ive never had a refrigerator drip water before and these are hardwood floors. They got somebody out there but the tech service guys were very confused with it. The first one didnt know quite how to fix it. It left the factory without the fan hooked up on the bottom. There was a float device that tells it when to turn on the heater, and none of that was hooked up properly. It took two trips to figure that and right now Im still very nervous about it.

Viking Ranges is one of the brands you’d look at if you’re looking for a professional-style range. Ive checked them out as I was doing a kitchen renovation. I’ve got a bit of an older model from them. It looks more clean and it’s not as fancy-looking. Its just simple, and I want it to work well and not look pretty. Performance-wise, I like how much heat it can put out and the consistency of that. It’s a lot more powerful. I like the high heat of it and also its ability to keep it below simmer. You can get it really low. Most ranges can’t hold such a low flame. The range has been great and I’m getting adjusted to cooking with it. One of the things that I think was a bizarre design of the range is when you have the oven on and it gets to a temperature, it cycles on and off. And it seems like it cycles rather frequently. It’ll shut off and then you’ll hear, “Tick, tick, tick,” and then it will all fire back up. I thought there was a problem with it, so I called Viking just to understand. From what I understood, the newer models have this glow bar, and it’s a little bit different. I think they fixed that but changed the mechanism. The Viking customer service were helpful and was okay. I had some problems at first when I got the range. When I was trying to get it troubleshot and have someone come out and take a look at something that there was a problem, it took them almost two weeks before they were able to get someone to me. That was just a little bit long, especially considering I just got the product. For people who likes to cook and can afford a range like Viking, I think it would be a good range for them to get.

We bought a home with an Italian Fhiaba refrigerator. We had a lot of problems with it and we had to replace it. It cannot be repaired and we only had a certain amount of money that the manufacturer had given us to purchase another refrigerator. The Viking was on sale and thats why I purchased it. It was not my first choice though. The drawers for produce, meats and cheese storage bins are so cheap and I was shocked at the interior for a Viking product. I was sad to lose my Italian refrigerator which was well-made and had beautiful interiors. I would not have bought the Viking refrigerator but it was at the right price, so I ended up with it. But would I buy another one? Absolutely not. We purchased a completely renovated home, and all the appliances were Vikings. The six-burner gas stove and the microwave are all okay, and they work great. But I would not recommend the refrigerator. When I knew I had to replace my previous refrigerator, I went onto several websites to read reviews, and very few of them were good. But my husband wasnt going to spend more money because we bought a house with a $10,000 refrigerator that ended up not working after two years. Even the plastic inside of a Sears Kenmore refrigerator is better. Viking has these soft close drawers for cheese and veggies, which are awful. I have to treat them with kid gloves, because Im afraid theyre going to break on me at any given moment. The company that owns Viking make commercial grade refrigerators and U-Line is one of their products. Its an amazing refrigerator. Why dont they use some of the same materials? Viking has been synonymous with high-end quality. But they really fell short on this one. Looks good on the outside, poor quality on the inside.

We purchased a newly built home and had all Viking appliances installed. The range puts out good heat but the oven is definitely malfunctioning. It cycles every minute no matter what temperature you set it to so if I am baking something that takes 2 hours, Ill hear the igniter click and the flame come on over 100 times. I dont know if its because the flame is reigniting so often but the smell of gas is so strong. Also, the door gets so hot you cant even touch it without wearing an oven mitt. All of these make me afraid to use the oven. I called Viking and theyve sent out the same repair person twice who told me that the cycling every minute is normal and the door is supposed to get hot because heat radiates. I understand heat radiates but it shouldnt get so hot you can burn yourself. What happens if children accidentally get close to the oven? I also dont understand why for a supposed high end oven, the temperature cant be maintained for more than a minute when the flame goes out before it reignites again. And since its cycling every minute no matter what temp you set it to and regardless if you leave the oven door closed for 2 hours (yes, we tested it with the door closed for 2 hours to make sure we werent losing heat from opening the door), it doesnt seem like the cycling is temperature related at all. When I call Viking, they tell me this is NOT normal and a repair person needs to come out to make adjustments. Theyve sent the same repair person twice who insists this is normal. I called again today and asked for a different company. The same person has been scheduled to come out tomorrow, wholl likely tell me again that this is what I have to get use to with this oven. This oven is a hazard. Youll either be afraid to use it or youll end up burning yourself or inhaling carbon monoxide fumes. I had to turn the oven off yesterday because I got a terrible headache from the fumes. I am writing this to advise everyone to not buy a Viking. Also, now it is documented that these issues existed in the event something bad happens.

When we decided to purchase a new fridge, there were only a couple of choices - GE, Sub-zero and Viking, so I went with the better choice. We also got a Viking dishwasher, stove and hood, and so far, they have been okay. But we had a problem with the freezer down below. Someone came and fixed it, but it took a long time. Other than that, its still in good shape and its doors are nice. Ive had other brands and the Vikings quality seems okay. I wouldve preferred to have a mostly full refrigerator and a small freezer, and didnt wanna have one with a freezer below because the ice maker was also below, and I dont freeze a lot of stuff.
