We have the Infinity Greenspeed heat pump and ac combo. AC not excessively noisy but oh boy the heat pump outside is horrible. Any time the outside temp gets close to 32f and below, the unit is louder than a mack truck. And unfortunately its outside my bedroom window, so sleep is not possible when its running and it runs constantly. It still heats the house ok, just too noisy. Ive had installed and 2 heating cos check it and they say its normal and wont do anything since unit is producing heat. Called Carrier and getting the run around. Called several times and they cant give me a status and never call back. Horrible. Spent over $10k about 3 years ago and its been horrible ever since and no end in sight. NEVER CARRIER AGAIN!!!!!

Being a dedicated Carrier dealer, technician and installer for over 20 years in SE Texas, I am sympathetic to all of the unhappy customers who have written reviews. However, just from reading the situations, I believe that the problem lies not in the equipment but in the so called installers and service techs. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of reputable Carrier dealers in any given state. I have personally went behind some of these service companies and have seen the type of installation or service that was performed. To a Factory trained technician, the remedies are often relatively easy and inexpensive to repair. The fault lies not in Carrier equipment, but in the local distributors who willingly sell Carrier equipment to any Jack leg moron who knows how to operate a thermostat. Carrier should monitor their distributorships more closely and see what companies are buying equipment and how many of these are having issues with Carrier junk. Carrier is and will remain a world leader in the HVAC industry, but like everything else, the product is only as good as the person installing or servicing it. Look really closely at your contractor before you blame Carrier. There is not one manufacturer out there who is going to cover a bad install under ANY kind of warranty.

I purchased my unit in 2007 and thru the company I bought it from, have a 15 yr parts and labor warranty. I have the Infinity thermostat and 3 ton unit heat pump and Infinity air handler. Ran okay for the first year or so but fast forward to today... Heres a rundown of the repairs on this unit. Ive had 7+ system malfunctions, many of them with multiple codes. The primary code is always 45. Ive had the air handler circuit board replaced 3 times - 3/2009 12/,2011, 9/2014 and a 4th one effective today due to the total shut down (8/2015) of entire system. Ive had the heat pump circuit board replaced also 9/2014, coils replaced 2/2014, and new wiring harness 10/2014. Ive been told that Carrier will eventually stop warranting the circuit boards.As everyone else, someone needs to be home when this service is done so taking time from work to be home for every repair can be very tough and expensive for someone whose company doesnt allow them or cant have them work from home. Im fortunate but in the long run Carrier should be doing something to recognize the problems their system has and make it right. My service company is great but eventually this will start to get very costly. Im done with Carrier and will be contacting the company I purchased it from regarding the lemon law. This just cant go on...

The very next day of installation, the aircon would reflect ERROR every time we attempt to put on the unit. We reported this defect but they give us many excuses, wasting our time and just raising our blood pressure. We just paid P100,000 for the unit, and on its first week, we have to try putting it on 3-4 times before the unit actually turns on!! 2017 AC Bad Condensor Coil after 1.5 years. Model 24abc636a300. $500 to find leak & add 3 pounds of Freon. $1500 to remove outside unit (take back to Carrier) & install new one. Several leaks on Cond. coils at welds & Baffle plate. Also they dont even install low pressure switches to protect the compressor. These are the notes from AC Tech: Found unit to have small leak in condenser coil. Appears to be in between header plate and coil making it difficult to bubble test. However video indicates a leak with electronic leak detector. Customer not interested in replacing coil under warranty at this time. Customer only wanted to charge unit. Leak will only worsen and refrigerant will leak out again and with no high or low pressure switches compressor damage could occur if unit continues to run with no refrigerant. Unit also has 45+5 mfd battery pack weak and customer declined replacing under warranty as well.

I am an a/c contractor in Florida. I have installed a lot of carrier/Bryant systems and I have had no problems. I also installed Trane, Maytag, Gibson, Frigidaire, Westinghouse, Goodman, Amana, Nordine. I had so many problems with these units it almost ran me out of business. I am still doing warranty work on them and I stopped installing them two years ago. If you are having the types of problems Im reading about here with carrier you should change your contractor because I have no problems and have installed hundreds of these systems. If you are looking for a great system, buy carrier but make sure you also pay for a great contractor thats just as important.

Ive been told, time and again, that HVAC units can last and should last to at least 10 years, but have the capacity to last up to 15yrs. Why is it, then, that NO Carrier HVAC unit weve had installed by local business Central Air, in Texarkana,Tx, had lasted more than 10yrs? The most recent unit was purchased, new, in 2013. Whereas I never see any neighbors have HVAC companies coming to do maintenance checks on their units, and this household has always paid to have them done... what is the deal with ours not lasting as long!! I use my HVAC very frugally, doing my best to keept the temp set at 78 in the Texas summer months, and also heater wise, I keep my home CHILLY in winter. I layer up my clothes no matter if Im dressed, or if Im in my pajamas! I layer my nightgowns wearing two of them at a time, and oft times wear my robe, and perhaps even throw on one of my athletic style jackets over it!So... I mentioned my CARRIER brand HVAC --not-- lasting?? Last year--July 2019... the compressor in my Carrier blew out!! What in tarnation! I do learn that its covered by warranty, but that does NOT mean that the additional parts required, nor the labor required, nor the refrigerant which was lost= NONE of those... ABSOLUTELY NONE of those things were covered. What in the heck---is CARRIER in cahoots with its dealer??? I was still out over $600usd per having to have the compressor replaced!! And good grief, it would have been astronomical to have had to pay for a new compressor too!! I suspect that Carrier must think, oh goodness the customer will be so relieved that we covered the cost of the new compressor, that theyll simply not be aggrieved by the output of cash still necessitated by the situation!! I am still upset to this point in time, to have had to pay for more refrigerant!! To have had to pay for the labor. To have had to pay for the extra parts ruined by the compressor blowing!! Does CARRIER --NOT use quality compressors! All I can figure is that they rely on planned obsolescence to survive! But they forget, once BITTEN, TWICE SHY!!! My future will be cooled by another brand!! I am looking into Trane, and others!! CARRIER can NOT be relied upon, per my experience, and-----per my estimation. I recently did an engine search on the Carrier brand and is stated in black and white that Carrier IS essentially UNRELIABLE! Oh, and to add the CHERRY on TOP of the HVAC SUNDAE... my capacitor broke in May of 2020!! I pitched a fit, and it wound up that the HVAC tech got permission to replace my capacitor at no cost, free of charge, to me. Darn tootin! That action, and gesture, though appreciated is no salve for the financial wound caused me, by Carriers choice of compressors they place into their units! Does CARRIER NOT comprehend that $6000USD for a HVAC UNIT is expensive enough? CAN they NOT take things A step further by building QUALITY PRODUCTS! They are perpetrating an epic fail by resting on the laurels of their good name! I donnt mind being vocal, via social media, as NECESSITATED/REQUIRED/NEEDED!! I contacted the dealer who installed the system and they said it was just that the system was new. A few months later, with no change in the odor, I contacted them again and they came out and told me I must have a dead animal in the duct work. Not! The odor was not constant like it would be if it were a dead animal.Then cooling season rolled around and no problems. The system worked great. Now heating season again and again, the odor was back. Called dealer again and they came out and said they couldnt smell it. Gave it a couple weeks and called dealer again (when it was very cold outside). Finally, the technician admitted noticing the smell, but had no idea what it was. He contacted the regional Carrier representative and was told that it was Dirty Sock Syndrome. He recommended cleaning coils with Listerine and installing a UV light.Dealer wanted to charge nearly $700 to install a light to get rid of an odor that I shouldnt have in the first place. It didnt exist with my old unit. From what I have read on the Internet, the UV light will likely not solve the problem anyway.I contacted Carrier and am getting the run-around that it was my environment that was causing the problem. Nothing had changed in my environment. Same environment with old system = no foul odor. Same environment with new system = foul odor. Conclusion was that there was something with the new equipment that was not getting along with the same environment thus the only thing that had changed was the equipment.Carrier, to this point, has refused to help. This was a known issue that these manufacturers were aware of and have been aware of, but refused to warn consumers about or correct the problem. In my mind, we need a Class Action suit filed in defense of the consumers in this country that are being taken for a ride by the HVAC manufacturers.

Three trips and the company assured me they had corrected all items. In just under three years, cooling coils on both units of the two-unit system failed and had to be replaced. Replacement coils were furnished under warranty but the bill was $1500. I hired another company to do an analysis of system. Based on this inspection, I filed a formal complaint with state licensing bureau. Finally, about $4,000 worth of corrective action was performed at no charge. Corrections included the installation of an additional return air ducting that was not installed but was on original design.Well, now 3 years and 5 months later, the cooling coil on one unit has again failed leaking out all Puron over a weekend. Carrier will not provide replacement coil under warranty. Work is being completed today and Id guess the bill will be around $1500. So HVAC repairs of $3000+ in 6 years on new home has to be considered unacceptable quality.

That was based on exhaustive research, after the purchase. I found what seemed to be endless complaints against Carrier. How do you test drive an air conditioner? Caveat emptor!

The unit sweats when the air conditioner is running and is causing massive mildew/mold within the closet the downstairs unit is located. The Rep from New Orleans has been twice and said unit is working fine and closet needs insulated better. Had another HVAC come look and he said the unit should not sweat like this at all and the temp in closet was 73 degrees so no huge temp difference. As of Oct. 4, 2019 this unit now needs additional new parts. The 2 ton unit also failed in Sept. 2019 and needs major parts replaced. My HVAC contractor is working with me and told me to contact Carrier customer service. Carrier customer service has informed me that their only responsibility is the warranty for parts. The $1000`s spent for labor is my problem. Bottom line is Carrier feels that if their unit lasts 1 year they have met their obligation. I know that everyone buys heating and AC units with the expectation that it will last more than 1 year. Carrier does NOT have that same expectation -- they hope it lasts a least a year so they are off the hook. Do Not buy Carrier products - unless you want to replace them quickly.

Carrier Infinity heat pump residential - Similar problems as most others have listed. I purchased a top of the line Infinity System 3 1/2 years ago. The unit never cooled properly. Total Air Care was ignorant about the Puron system; they didnt know why it wasnt cooling. Ive had the TXV replaced twice. Ive had a motor capacitor replaced. Ive had the compressor relocated closer to the air handler. The last Carrier tech said I needed the evaporator coils replaced, $400 for labor. I installed a powered attic fan and had the attic re-insulated. Ive spent close to $2,500.00 on getting it to work properly. I still come home to a warm home. Ill never buy another Carrier - sounds like a little class action may be needed.

It was replaced in 2010 by an other Carrier unit, along with a second unit for the other half of the house. Both new systems installed in 2010 were high efficiency systems with infinity thermostats, at a total cost of $15,000.00. Both of these units failed in the summer of 2014 with major repair bills - even though they had a 10 year warranty. The entire evaporator coil had to be replaced on the first unit at a cost of about $1000 in July 2014. The condenser fan motor failed on the second unit just today (Aug 29, 2014). The tech from central heating said that the motor is covered by warranty, but he must still charge me $60 for the visit and $200 for the labor to replace the motor. It is simply unacceptable to pay such high prices for top-of-the-line systems and get such poor reliability. I will never purchase another product from Carrier.

It has the Bristol compressor in it. My A/C guy mentioned that Carrier had numerous problems with this compressor. Carrier offered to replace the compressor but I would have to pay around $1400 in labor and additional parts to get my unit going again. On top of that, Carrier told me if I went this route there would be no further warranty on the unit. My other option was to pay $2500 for an entire outside unit and they would warranty this new unit for 10 years. I am very disappointed in Carrier. I have owned several other brands and never had a compressor go out. I own several rental units that the heat pumps have been going for almost 20 years. From the looks of this mess, i do not plan on ever buying a Carrier unit again.

All of the units run off of batteries first which are energized by street power and generator power. Ill keep everyone posted on how this evolves. Carrier refused to replace the part which, I think, is the quality problem. In Trane system, I had an AC which lasted for 24 years and is still going strong and did not lose freon. They just make junk parts. Two years after, the startup condenser fan will not start and they had to add a start-up kit to get the fan going again and patch up design. I will never buy or recommend any Carrier product to anyone I know. Just stay away from the product that they make.

I have had the coil in the furnace replaced, the blower motor replaced, a leak repaired on the outside unit and once again I am without air conditioning waiting on a service call which will take 3 days. My units carry a 5 year warranty (parts only, labor was for one year I believe) which could have been extended to 10 if my units were registered (for marketing purposes I was told) within 90 days of closing on my home. With the mountain of paperwork/moving/dealing with banks/contractor I missed this deadline. I cannot say they, I wasnt handled a piece of paper at some time telling me to do so. Even though I am still in the initial warranty period, and Carrier could obtain my data for marketing purposes, they will not extend my warranty for the additional 5 years.That being said this equipment should not have failed so many times in such a short period of time. I have had no issues with any of the other appliances in my home, only my Carrier equipment. They treat their warranty like rebate cards. They know most people wont register their equipment so they can get out of the additional years of warranty. I only found out about this from a different Carrier dealer who will now be servicing my equipment. Buy something else. The equipment I have is unreliable and thus far I have not been impressed with their service. I did not have a choice as my builder had the equipment installed, when it is replaced I will stay away from Carrier.

Even though the parts were covered under warranty (numerous failures have been reported with the LG compressor), Carrier refused to replace or even assist with labor cost. Imagine getting hit with a $2200 repair bill on an HVAC unit that was just over 1 year old. Terrible, terrible customer service.

Wrong! In 2009, the air compressor went out. We had installed under our five star warranty. Now, 7-30-12, we just had another compressor installed under the ten year warranty. The man who installed the latest compressor said this is a bad compressor by the name of Bristol. He wanted to sell me a new compressor for $2,500. Carrier knows this is a bad compressor and should replace it with one that wont keep burning out. I still have five years left on the five star warranty.

INFINITY means as long as you have it you will have aggravation. It is junk. I live right on Long Lake Rd in Bloomfield Hills and on June 26th I will remove all Infinity equipment and replace with Trane. I will put all three furnaces and condensing units on the main road with a 12 foot banner which reads, This is the kind of junk to expect of Infinity equipment. The previous furnace had been in the home for nearly 30 years and still running strong.Since we had this product installed, we have had to have it serviced every year. They have replaced the circuit board, switches, coils, re-worked the lines and yet again, with the temperature at 25 degrees, it has gone out again. At the time we thought we were getting a quality product, but now we realize that this product is not worth the contract we signed when we purchased it. Very disappointing to pay that kind of money for a product that does not work. The installers have came out each time and performed a quick fix instead of addressing the obvious issue, which is apparently a faulty product. I would never recommend a carrier product to another. As far as the duct work being under-sized, which I have heard some refer to when this product was installed we had duct work installed, also, its the product itself. Very disappointed, never again.

Got Carrier Infinity Greenspeed in November 2012. Got the 97.2% efficiency infinity modulating natural gas furnace and 4 ton 17 SEER air conditioning unit. I do love the low speed variable heating as it keeps a gentle constant heat. Cooling is also good and efficient. Both units, however, have been unreliable. In October 2014 the furnace broke. We needed a new inducer motor. They dont keep parts at Carrier, so it took several days to get the part. Cost me $400 for labor and other parts. In July 2015 air conditioning unit leaked and had to have coolant replaced. In May 2016, the unit would not start during routine twice a year maintenance service agreement we had with installer. There were multiple leaks and the entire outside unit and coil had to be replaced. The installer was great and didnt charge for labor since we had repeated problems with the unit. Carrier again did not have parts on hand, so had to wait a week on parts. Still cost me $600 in additional installer parts not covered by Carrier. So, on this supposed high end system, both the furnace and air conditioner have had major failures in under 3 years of use and these have cost me over $1000 out of pocket. Obviously, my conclusion is that Carrier Infinity Greenspeed is a piece of junk.

The 1st year, a bad sensor had to be replaced; 2nd year ran okay; 3rd year, it ran constantly and hardly cooled down our home. At the beginning of the 4th year, it ran out of freon and was recharged, and last year it ran out of freon again. The installer found a pinhole in the coil and it had to be replaced. Our installer/servicer was very helpful and worked with us to help keep labor costs down but, Carrier should stand behind their product and cover all labor for warranty parts. I shouldnt have to pay labor charges on factory defective parts. Its very frustrating to have purchased a top-of-the-line unit, only to feel like we ended up with a lemon and have little recourse but to accept Carriers less than satisfactory limited warranty. I get the feeling Carrier couldnt care less about the little guy, once a sale is made. At least the car manufacturers cover labor and parts for warranty work. I told them there must be a mistake since why would only one part of the system be registered and not the complete unit. They refused to do anything to remedy the matter. I thought it will be well worth it to have the highest quality, 2-stage, rated with energy star and uses Puron. Turns out this unit is quite the lemon. By the looks of all the other complaints I now see concerning the same system, I guess theyre nearly all lemons. Wish someone could make Carrier do the right thing and provide what they advertised. And are still advertising. I had this unit installed by a reputable heating and air company. From the beginning it never did work all that well. It did cool however so I did not complain. It only seemed to work about half as good as advertised. On real hot days, it would not keep up with demand and cool that well. If in the 90s outside, the best it would cool was to about 76-78 inside. Cool enough to live so I didnt complain. In 2006, it stopped cooling altogether, so I called what many believe to be one of the most reputable heating and air company around to troubleshoot it. They said the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced. This was under warranty but I would have to pay the labor. Labor to install the new compressor was $1,200.00. I had a couple other companies also price the labor and all were about the same. It killed me to pay $1,200.00 labor to install a compressor that is under warranty. I considered alternatives such as maybe just install a new unit, but a new unit would cost more than twice that amount installed. I figured this is one of the most reputable heating and air companies around so I told them to go ahead and change the compressor and paid them $1,200.00. It was cooling my home again but still only cooling about half what it should, same as before. In the winter, the electric back-up strips were on most of the time, even when outside was in the 40s. I put up, told the installer about this and they added Puron a couple of times at quite some expense. They told me I should have had them install the unit originally. Then they would stand behind it better. In summer 2008, there were many days in the 90s and the unit would only cool to about 79-80 inside. I had them check the unit again. They said the unit was leaking Puron from the charging valve and that this had nothing to do with them installing the new compressor in 2006. They gave me a price of $1,300.00 to replace the leaking charging valve. It was extremely hot outside (upper 90s) during this time, so I paid them the $1,300.00 to replace it. After that, it did cool our house down to mid to upper 70s. Still not cooling so great but good enough. Winter time came and back to having the back-up heating kicking in when outside in the 40s and later even when in the 50s. The next summer, back to not cooling so well but could live, so did not complain. Winter came again and using back up heat. When the next summer came, it was in the 90s outside and could only cool to the 80s inside. I had to have Puron added again buy the same reputable company? They would not cut me any break on the cost of the Puron. They said if they were the original installer in 2002 then they would take care of me a little better. After they added Puron this time they said to just call someone else if I had any more trouble with it. Now here it is summer of 2014 and not cooling at all. I had a different company look at it and they told me they believe the compressor is bad and recommended I call the same company that installed the compressor when it was under warranty. He said he have never worked on one of these very high efficiency units. I did call the Carrier Corporation a few times since the original install in 2002 and I was told that there was nothing that Carrier would do to help. We have Carriers very best unit on the market and we are sweating in our home and just hoping it will be cool at night so we can sleep. Not sure what to do now. I guess I will have to have another reputable company come out and install another unit or something. The new compressor was install in August 2008, not quite 6 years ago. I dont know if it will be under warranty or not. The original compressor had a 10-year warranty. Does that mean this second compressor will have a 10-year warranty? In the last 4 and a half years, I have had 9, yes 9, service calls on my system. I have had fans out of balance (one was so bad it would rattle the dishes on the countertop in the kitchen). The main units compressor locked up and had to be replaced. The main thermostat went out and had to be replaced. Theres a freon leak in the upstairs unit and freon has had to be added to both units 4 times. It leaked water condensation in the attic, and now I go to turn it on over the weekend and the downstairs unit blows warm air. It wont cool. It has cost me over $1,300 out of pocket for the things not covered under warranty. Some labor was not covered, some service calls were not covered and, who knew Id have to pay shipping to get replacement parts shipped to me and then pay shipping to have the faulty parts shipped back to Carrier??? What a ** way to do business. The installer, Love Heating and Air in Monroe, NC is worthless and horrible to deal with and now Im getting the runaround with Carrier Corp. Im done with Carrier and wish they would come and rip this crap out of my home. Ill buy the Trane instead or a box fan. At least, the box fan would work.

I quit using installer because failed again in less than 10 minutes after driving out the driveway, got ahold of another service company, they found high temp sensor bad kicking off furnace before satisfying thermostat, got that repaired, next thing started periodic igniter fail or repeated attempt to light kick into lock out mode again. This would not fail when service man present, told me to wait till completely fail, find problem them, month later total fail.The service company owner came out this time, found no electricity, the junction block for wiring some screws loose likely from defective assembly, yup assembled in Mexico, Once that got locked down, ignited immediately, inducer motor quieter, blower quieter, was lacking enough electric all along. Runs like should. Point is I am out hundreds of dollars on a unit under warranty, I have contacted United Technology to see if they will reimburse for defective assembly, that is not excluded under their warranty. Submitted claim today, will see what they do about this, I will follow up with the outcome of this when I hear from them, I had previous Carrier lasted 20 plus years, cracked exchanger at 20 was still running, Why I bought another, this one with new controls been a nightmare, the faulty assembly my opinion caused all the trouble all along.

Had to refill at a cost of $550. Maintenance company ordered a new coil under warranty. It took 5 weeks to deliver. Another $500 of refrigerant and $700 in labor was required to make the repair. CARRIER had a known problem with the coils. The lack of stock and the long fulfillment time are logically related. Several false ship promises further belie this contention. Carrier should have made me whole for all expenses. They did not exhibiting lack of concern for the customer and their brand.

Preventive maintenance twice yearly has been consistently scheduled. Warranty was for 5 years for all parts except heat exchanger (10 years). Cost to replace both of these items was $960 less my 15% discount for being a preferred customer. VERY HIGH PRICES! The tech volunteered that Carriers prices on replacement parts is high. I found the same parts on other HVAC supplier websites for much less - I was initially not comfortable with handling the parts change out, but now seeing how it was done, could probably have done it myself & saved a bunch of $. I contacted Carrier, but got no response from them. Had asked for some $ warranty assistance since these parts failed prior to 10 years of service - my tech said that after 2010, Carrier increased their warranty to 10 years on other parts. This is the first time I have had any blower failures on a furnace earlier than 20 years of service. Apparently they just dont make em like they used to and Carrier doesnt really care about their residential consumer customers either. I wont be replacing any of this equipment (when the time comes) with Carrier!

In all, I spent over $500 in freon charges and labor that were not covered by the warranty in the first 4 years I owned the home. A year later, my compressor wont start and I had to fix that. Then my compressor went out a year later. Now my compressor wont start again. The HVAC people will only tell me it has age on it. It is 7 years old. I have spent over $1000 of my own money fixing it. In between the yearly (and in two cases twice yearly) breakdowns of the AC unit, my heater failed in 2009.

There were also numerous service calls prior, with among others the replacement of a honking reversing valve. Now in 2015 the 2011 replacement compressor has packed it in - another 4 years. Two (2) compressors shot! Junk! I phoned another heat pump outfit and they will install a comparable American Standard for some $12,500.00 here in British Columbia, Canada. That is a boat load of money to replace a Carrier unit that should have lasted some 15 or so more years. There should be a class action suit against Carrier for this!

My heating and cooling bills were also huge and the thermostat had constant problems - going out, or not registering the correct temperature. You would think these companies would be concerned about their reputations. You would think that the certified dealers would also be concerned about the quality of these products. You would think there was some integrity in this business.

We are on our second thermostat, which is not letting us program day temperature. Had circuit boards replaced. This past winter, had the compressor replaced. Were told this will fix the issues we have been having. 3 months later, 24vac fuse call, technician is on our thermostat again. We have the company that installed the unit come in every spring and fall to check the system for proper operation and usually 6 to 8 weeks later it quits working or the 24vac fuse warning comes up. Also have a carrier gas furnace the first year the blower fuse blew. The repair technician left me 2 extra fuses and showed me how to replace it so we did not have to pay someone to come out.

My coil now has a service recall because of a manufacturing defect, no service recall notification or call. It add insult to injury, they will not allow me to use my Cool Cash Rebate of $250 and I have to pay for the coil to be installed. They cant even tell me how long it takes to install the coil. The deal is telling me 4 to 5 hours at $110 and another hour to determine the problem to begin which should have been automatic because of the service recall issue. There is no customer service and the Carrier is a piss poor product and the guarantee of 10 years is a joke!

Its been less than 5 yrs, and they said we didnt maintain it in over 10 yrs! HUH, hello carrier? 2016 from 2011 purchase date is 5 yrs. Yes, the unit is maintained but not by your service contract. No wonder All Temp Co. Heating and Air Conditioning of Harrisburg, NC sells these. They get a lot of work out of these inferior products, over and over again. Run as fast as you can and buy a Trane. Wish we had. Maybe carrier might move back from Mexico. I guess it doesnt matter where its made if they wont stand behind their product. I think after 2 major leaks we deserved more than their attitude and bad record-keeping.

The unit is not yet 10 years old and this is ridiculous for it to not last any longer than this. I have already paid a couple hundred dollars for a capacitor coil that failed early this year. We had a bad experience a couple of summers ago (the a/c was not cooling) and it all came down to the one question I failed to ask the 2 repair companies that were sent to our home by our home warranty company: Does your company INSTALL Carrier systems? Well, (after the 2 companies had spent countless hours and replaced the evaporator coil--which did not make the problem go away), that one little question did the trick! The warranty found one company that actually had installed these systems and they came out and after an hour of hooking up the compressor to the techs computer and consulting with the engineers in Houston, the problem was identified. They replaced the compressor and that was that. We love it. The comfort it brings to our home and the money it saves with the highest efficiency system... We only wish we would have gotten a zoned system. I would recommend Carrier---but you have to get the right people to be your service technicians, preferably the company that installed it...and just take really good care of the system--do all your check-ups regularly. It is not inexpensive to purchase, so why would you just hire anyone to service it?

I think it is misleading to buy parts and labor extended warranty and find the local dealer charges a service fee/call. Today, it was $112 to come out for less than 30 minutes. Granted it was on weekend after normal business hours, but the same has occurred during normal business hours.

I had my Carrier Heat Pump installed when we added on to our home back in 2009. I was told by my HVAC installer that the unit I was buying was energy efficient and came with a 10 year warranty. Today I was told by the installer that my blower motor was out and that it was under warranty. Later I was told that the 10 year warranty I was sold was not valid because I did not register it online within 90 days of the installation. We were never told by the installer that we needed to do this to have the warranty. In fact the page of information that was torn from the book and had the serial numbers on it does not even have any statement regarding the need to register the product within 90 days in order to obtain the 10 year warranty. Not even hidden in the fine print. Carrier instead requires the installer to make sure that the buyer knows that they need to register online. Both my wife and I work and we are not even sure if either of us were home when this work was completed as we had contractors working at the house. I took this all the way up to a Senior Person at Carrier. I was told by them nothing they can do, take it up with the installer. They will not allow you to go back and register your product. If this company is as good as the other installers that have posted say, then I would think that Carrier itself would allow the consumer to register the product retroactively, especially when the homeowner was not aware of the requirement. Im not even saying they should pay for the immediate service, my installer will take care of that because that falls on him, but to screw the homeowner out of the rest of the warranty shows a definite lack of support for their products. What happens now if my installer goes out of business or sells his business to someone else? I agree with the others on this blog who have wrote no Carrier ever again. I have an older Trane unit in the upstairs that has not given me one problem. I guarantee when that needs to be replaced, it wont be with a Carrier!

We installed a Carrier Infinity 4-ton heat pump model 25HNA648A30020 in a new custom built home in 2007, opting for the top of the line, high efficiency unit, thinking that we would recoup our upgrade expenses in energy savings. Wrong! So far, we have had to replace a compressor, a coil, and a circuit board. All these parts were covered under Carrier warranty, but not the labor. All told, we have spent $3887 in labor and Freon (R410). We would have been better off going with the builder grade unit. Our HVAC system undergoes routine maintenance twice a year, so this is not due to a lack of proper routine service. We have done everything the HVAC company and Carrier recommended. At one point last year, two Carrier field service reps came to my house to evaluate our duct system, at the request of the owner of our HVAC company. The Carrier field service reps agreed to the recommended duct redesign. I was willing to do anything to correct the problems and make the frequent equipment failures stop. I saved all service records and have over 30 pages of them now. The same unit went out 2 days ago for the second time in the middle summer in hot, humid South Carolina. HVAC company has not been able to run a diagnostic yet because the compressor was too hot. To add insult to injury, we were told the warranty on the Bristol compressor replaced in April of this year would not even last for the balance of warranty on the HVAC unit. That signaled to me that Carrier expects it will fail again within the balance of the heat pump warranty and they dont want to pay for it.Given numerous similar complaints and universal lack of responsiveness on the part of Carrier customer service, it would seem that a class action suit might be in order. Too bad, Carrier prefers to let it get to that stage rather than faithfully standing behind their products. Doing the right thing might be expensive, but not nearly as expensive as it will be when attorneys get involved.

I have a Carrier-Payne A/C heat pump that was installed in a new construction in late 2005 or early 2006. I do not know the specific model number. Up until about 2 years ago, the unit ran problem-free. Since that time, I have had nothing but problems. The unit will quit heating/cooling without warning. The outside fan (not sure what its called) does not come on when the unit comes on and the compressor kicks out to prevent overheating. I can turn the unit off for a few hours and when I turn it back on, it runs fine for hours, days or weeks. It’s totally unpredictable. A technician will come out tomorrow for at least the 6th time. He has replaced a variety of electronic modules, the outside fan twice and added freon once, even though it was not critically low. He is at a loss on what to do next to try and fix it. Neither he nor I have called Carrier and after reading these posts, it would probably be a waste of time. I am paranoid about this unit and had to have someone house sit while I was on vacation just to keep a check on the A/C. Based on all of the compressor problems Ive read about, Im thinking that is the next thing to go out. I cant think of a compelling reason to replace this Carrier with another one.

I paid $6500 for a new furnace (59SC5A)/AC in July of 2016. Turned on my furnace on Friday 10/12/18 remotely via wifi thermostat and came home to NO heat. Called after hours service at $145 just to walk in and diagnose the problem. Bad gas valve that they do NOT carry and have to order and I have to PAY for the service call and the labor which is unacceptable. No heat for the next 3-5 days with temps in the 30s and 40s. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHES AND STAY FAR AWAY FROM CARRIER. The quality is subpar for the premium price and I feel this is just going to be the first of many problems with this junk!

Distributor can DO NOTHING, but I can -- NEVER, NEVER, NEVER purchase or recommend any product produced by United Technologies. Planning to present my case to Texas Home Builders Assoc. and recommend that they do not disappoint home buyers by installing United Technologies products in new or remodeled homes! The heat pump function on our 1 and 1/2 year old Carrier unit is not functioning properly. What happens is that when a steady temperature of 68 degrees is set, the unit buzzes and then fails to come on. Then it buzzes again and fails to come on. Then buzzes again and fails to come on. (Repeated on purpose.) Had the installation company come out yesterday morning and they found nothing wrong. The board was not fried. They tested all terminals and said they were okay. Paid $80 for the visit that did nothing. Like to wake up every minute or so as your heat pump fails? Buy a Carrier unit!
