Carrier Heat Pump Model 38MURA-C

Performance 18 Compact

The "Performance 18 Compact Heat Pump" typically refers to a specific model or series of heat pumps manufactured by Carrier. While I can provide general information about heat pumps and their features, it's important to note that the specific details and specifications of the Performance 18 Compact Heat Pump may vary. For accurate and up-to-date information, it's recommended to refer to the product documentation or consult with a professional HVAC technician or Carrier dealer. Here are some general points about heat pumps and the Performance 18 Compact model:

Heat Pump Functionality: A heat pump is an HVAC system that provides both heating and cooling capabilities. It transfers heat between the indoor and outdoor environments to cool or warm the living space as needed. In the cooling mode, it removes heat from indoors and expels it outside. In the heating mode, it extracts heat from the outdoor air or ground and transfers it indoors.

Efficiency: The "Performance 18" in the model name may refer to the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating. SEER measures the cooling efficiency of the heat pump. A higher SEER rating indicates greater efficiency, meaning the unit can provide more cooling output per unit of energy consumed. However, please note that the specific SEER rating for the Performance 18 Compact Heat Pump may vary.

Heating Efficiency: In addition to cooling efficiency, heat pumps are also rated for heating efficiency. This is typically measured by the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF). A higher HSPF rating signifies greater heating efficiency, indicating the heat pump can provide more heat output per unit of energy consumed. The specific HSPF rating for the Performance 18 Compact Heat Pump may vary.

Compact Design: The "Compact" in the model name suggests that the Performance 18 Compact Heat Pump is designed to occupy a smaller footprint compared to larger units. This can be beneficial in situations where space is limited, such as smaller homes or installation locations with spatial constraints.

Advanced Features: The Performance 18 Compact Heat Pump may include advanced features to enhance performance and comfort. These can vary based on the specific model but may include features such as a variable-speed compressor, two-stage operation for improved temperature control, advanced diagnostic capabilities, and compatibility with smart thermostats for increased control and energy savings.

Noise Reduction: Heat pumps, including the Performance 18 Compact model, may incorporate noise-reducing technologies such as compressor sound blankets and advanced fan designs to minimize operational noise.

Additional Considerations: Depending on your specific needs, it's important to consider factors such as installation requirements, capacity, and compatibility with your existing HVAC system. Consulting with an HVAC professional or Carrier dealer can help determine the suitability of the Performance 18 Compact Heat Pump for your specific circumstances.

Remember, these details are general in nature, and the specific features and capabilities of the Performance 18 Compact Heat Pump may vary based on the model and any updates made by Carrier. For accurate and up-to-date information, it's best to refer to the product documentation, consult with an HVAC technician, or contact a Carrier dealer or representative.

Product Reviews:

We have a top of the line Carrier Infinity heat pump put in place in 2014.
We have a top of the line Carrier Infinity heat pump put in place in 2014. It was installed by an authorized installer who has been installing Carrier systems for 45 years. The unit is supposed to be state of the art and cost over $10K. But in 2015, one year after it was put in place, the system broke down in the summer and a motor had to be replaced. Now in 2016, second year after the installation, the system broke down again and another motor has to be replaced. And it takes more than 10 days to order the motor in todays world when everything you order from Amazon can arrive in 2 days. When I called Carrier to file a complaint, the lady I spoke with was supposed to be a senior level rep, and she was even more disappointing. Please note, I wasnt even asking them for anything. My repairs are covered by a service policy I already had. I just wanted to let them know my frustration as a consumer, and I think given the good reputation I have heard about Carrier, you would think how their customers are feeling about their quality and service. Well, this lady blamed everything on distributors and installers, and said Carrier provides 10 year parts warranty and thats all they can do. She basically said Why are you wasting my time by calling me. without using those words.Well, for a state of the art system such as Carrier Infinity, you probably wouldnt expect to shut down for 2 weeks every year in the hottest days of the summer. And you would probably expect Carrier to care more about the quality and service experienced by their highest paying customers. I need to replace another old HVAC system soon and I never thought I would get anything other than Carrier. Now I will look into what other competing products are out there.

Carrier Infinity heat pump residential - Similar problems as most others have listed. I purchased a top of the line Infinity System 3 1/2 years ago. The unit never cooled properly. Total Air Care was ignorant about the Puron system; they didnt know why it wasnt cooling. Ive had the TXV replaced twice. Ive had a motor capacitor replaced. Ive had the compressor relocated closer to the air handler. The last Carrier tech said I needed the evaporator coils replaced, $400 for labor. I installed a powered attic fan and had the attic re-insulated. Ive spent close to $2,500.00 on getting it to work properly. I still come home to a warm home. Ill never buy another Carrier - sounds like a little class action may be needed.

We had a new Carrier 4 ton Heat Pump & Air Handler installed in a 2000 sf one level home in May of 2007 at a cost of $14,700. April 2009, the unit was not working due to a failed control board in the air handler. Part was replaced under warranty, however, the labor and trip charge was $187.00. January 2011 - No Heat Removed and replace failed compressor on system under warranty. Labor to replace their faulty compressor $480. June-July 2014, removed and replaced failed compressor again in heat pump. Recovered old freon, pulled vacuum, charged to specs. Also removed and replaced starting components on compressor. Total bill $1745.00. February 2015, removed and replaced failed air handler circuit board and heat relays and boards to air handler. No longer under warranty. Total bill $1016.00. I have a note from the service tech, If heat pump compressor breaks again by May 2016, Carrier will replace with new unit.

Carrier at Home. Im a 100% disabled veteran and a senior citizen. A faulty heat exchanger resulted in a mandatory disconnection and no heat for 5 days. Carrier Corporate validated my warranty: replace and install part or discount on new furnace. Dealer said 3-day minimum wait if part available to ship over weekend. We opted for a new furnace as 5 days without heat was enough. Carrier found a warranty loophole: You didnt ask our permission first before you took the discount option. Discount denied. When my Trane heat pump finally expired after more than 20 years, I made the mistake of hiring a company, Bryant Heating and Cooling, which installs Carrier units. Within a year, the defrost board went out. After a few more years the compressor broke, Carrier replaced it under warranty, but Bryant wanted $1500 labor (about 2 hours work) to install it, but finally reduced the cost to $750. After installing the compressor, a valve in the heat exchange unit in the garage was found to be defective. A year later, the unit lost pressure, which was traced to a leaking canister next to the compressor (Im not sure what its called). The technician convinced Carrier to supply the part, but labor again was going to be $1500, but was reduced to $325. DONT EVER BUY A CARRIER! If I have any more problems, Im going to bite the bullet and replace this piece of crap which I can never depend on.

I had a Comfort 14, 50HZC installed this past week. It replaced a 26+ year old Gettle Heat Pump. Now this new heat pump is way cooler and more efficient for sure, but way louder than my old Gettle. The only con and the reason for the 3 stars is for the high noise DB this new heat pump puts out, a very low rumble hum and you can hear everywhere in the house. You cannot hear it outside, cannot even hear it while standing next to it on the roof, but its there. Must be a vibration going through the unit, through the metal frame, through the roof. Now I am extremely happy the way the New Carrier Heat pump works, but I hate the low high DB rumble sound. The HVAC Guy from Qual Tech claims its the compressor. Well if it was, I should have heard it 12 inches from it on the roof, nope no loud sound at all on the roof, matter of fact its quieter standing 12 inches from it on the roof than it is inside the house. If the rumble was lower or less DBs or just quiet I would give the Heat pump a 5, but cant when a 26+ year old Gettle makes less noise and vibration that a supposedly state of the art New heat pump.

Our unit is now 12 years old, the amount of repairs we have done to the unit, we could have replaced it with a quality Trane system three time over. A year into the system, our air handler developed a small leak losing Freon, under warranty, but labor with Custom Air of Florida cost over $700. Variable speed motor was replace three times costing us over $3000. Replaced capacitors every year at $200 a pop. Twice we had to have a leak fixed in the compressor coil, $1000 each time. Carrier is crap. Called them, told too bad in less words. We have a new Trane system going in this Tuesday with a heat pump, all labor and materials covered under warranty for 6K. Screw Carrier, go to Mexico, dont buy their junk.

I built a new house in NC in 2006. I had two Carrier units installed. Every year, there has been a problem with one or the other. Either circuit boards, leaking coils and now both units cut on and off in the heat mode every minute or so. Labor has not been covered on any issues. Bought new gas furnace and it doesnt work, keeps shutting off. Installer thinks its a bad heat exchanger. Have called Carrier 5 times and this has been 5 months and no heat. A waste of $2000. I have never been treated so bad in my life. My tenant below threatened to move out. I am ready to sue Carrier for their lack of care and not standing up to their word. I am going to have to contact the attorney general I guess. I dont recommend Carrier.

Similar to most postings... Newly constructed home with 2 new Carrier HVAC units. One 4 ton and the other 2 ton. The 2 ton has been serviced 3 times in the past 12 months. The first 2 visits were covered by the home builder; However, the last visit I had to absorb. I do have a ten-year warranty on the units... The 2 ton failed again and it cost me 305.00 for labor and diagnostic fee. I asked Carrier to reimburse me as this was the 3rd failure in 12 months. They declined any help whatsoever. I will never buy a home that has a Carrier HVAC system nor will I recommend anyone to buy Carrier. The HVAC company that came out to service it also said the part they had to replace routinely fail, yet Carrier accepts no responsibility... Carrier stinks...

June 2003: We had a weather maker 9300TS furnace/air conditioning unit installed in our home. The previous furnace had been in the home for nearly 30 years and still running strong.Since we had this product installed, we have had to have it serviced every year. They have replaced the circuit board, switches, coils, re-worked the lines and yet again, with the temperature at 25 degrees, it has gone out again. At the time we thought we were getting a quality product, but now we realize that this product is not worth the contract we signed when we purchased it. Very disappointing to pay that kind of money for a product that does not work. The installers have came out each time and performed a quick fix instead of addressing the obvious issue, which is apparently a faulty product. I would never recommend a carrier product to another. As far as the duct work being under-sized, which I have heard some refer to when this product was installed we had duct work installed, also, its the product itself. Very disappointed, never again.

My Carrier air conditioning unit is less than 12 years old. The compressor has failed and seized. I understand the industry average should be 15 to 20 years or more of life. I paid a premium for my Carrier unit when I bought it. I contacted Carrier and they said it was out of warranty and basically its my hard luck. Based on my experience if you want an air conditioner to last longer than 11 years 10 months, dont buy a Carrier unit. I live in Chicago. I wonder how long this unit would have lasted in Texas.

We purchased a Carrier air conditioner and furnace through a dealer called Weather King 8 years ago. We thought Carrier was a quality company. The unit seemed to function well for a while. We live in Ohio and only use the air about 6-8 times a year, so we were surprised when the unit kept running and not cooling last fall. We contacted the dealer and paid $79 for a service call. We were told there was a loss of Freon and to schedule a visit in the spring. We did so, and were charged almost $500 more with no repair. We were told the coil was bad and told to contact Carrier. The Carrier rep was very curt and refused to help. She said that even though we registered the unit, the warranty was good for only 5 years. We have since learned from professionals that the defective Carrier coils are an industry wide problem and that a class action suit may be filed soon. We feel Carrier is deceptive in their practices and would advise readers to STOP BUYING CARRIER.

Then the repairman came and said they had to replace the inducer assembly and get this, OVER $1000 for the job! This is absolutely unacceptable predatory pricing. I purchased an Infinity air conditioner from the Carrier Corporation through Airflow Designs in Orlando FL. The air conditioner was originally installed on May 3, 2007 and cost $7,600 for the unit and a 10 year warranty. On July 5, 2010 the compressor went out and again on May 22, 2015 the compressor went out again. After lots of phone calls and much aggravation I have found that they used Bristol compressors and would be using that same product previously installed when installing this compressor. If that compressor has a high failure rate why do they continue to use them? However they would install another condenser for $2545 (cost from Airflow cost from Carrier was $1545) made by another company. It took quite a while to get in touch with anyone that actually works for the Carrier Corporation to find out what kind of support they provide for ineffective products. I contacted the corporate offices for Carrier (5/22/2015) and they only meet once a month to discuss this kind of issue and I got a reply 3 weeks (6/15/2015) after the request for help resolving this matter. So the choices were to go with what is covered under the warranty and has gone out twice in the past 7 years or pay a large sum of money to replace this unit that seems to be problematic. What is the point of having a warranty if you are going to continue to get ineffective products installed? I am also wondering why this company thinks that I would spend that much money with them again instead of going with a company that has a better reputation! Keeping in mind that I have an extended warranty for parts and labor for this air conditioner.

In 2010 we had Carrier HVAC installed. Since then the motor in the heating unit has been replaced, under warranty. Our service technician told me that Carrier knew that it was faulty but would only replace the part when it failed. Now we have to have the AC coils replaced because they are leaking coolant. According to the service technician the copper tubing cannot keep up with the pressure so it needs to be replaced with aluminum. After coming home from work on a hot, sunny, Friday afternoon, I noticed the inside of the house was MUCH hotter than what the thermostat was set for. After going outside and checking the heat pump, I noticed that the copper lines were frozen and the fan wasnt spinning. After calling the installation company, they said they wouldnt be able to be out there until Saturday afternoon (of course!). The repair technician came out Saturday around 3:00 pm and said that it was the motor and that Carrier knows these are bad motors, but they wont do anything about them until they break. They last roughly 2-2.5 years before they need replaced. I have already replaced at least 40 this year and thats just me.... I have three other partners!. Of course, he said that it wouldnt be able to be taken care of until Monday after he contacted Carrier. On Monday, he ordered the part and Tuesday around noon, he actually came and fixed it. If anyone knows what the weather is like in September in South Carolina, then you know that there were FOUR VERY UNCOMFORTABLE NIGHTS OF SLEEP (youre not getting much sleep when it is hot and humid... all a fan did was circulate the hot air). I wish that I had known about all these problems with Carrier before we built our house 2.5 years ago! I can assure you that from here on out, that for me, it will be hard to stop a Trane. I have asked two different technicians now, who they thought makes the best unit, and both unquestionably said Trane. Thanks to Carrier, I am now out $300 because of a known faulty motor (sorry to everyone else who has spent more money because I know that sounds like chump change, but I definitely would like spending that on something else). If any car manufacturer had known issues, they would put out a recall and fix the unit.... Why isnt Carrier doing the same? Unscrupulous is word that comes to mind...

We wanted air conditioning, and were told that we needed to buy a new furnace unit combination, so we bought a Carrier. It was 14 years ago, and we have had to have repairs done to this thing, every single year. I will never buy another Carrier product as long as I live. The original furnace was 20 years old, and had only been serviced twice in that time. This is a rental, and in our own home, we have a 37 year old furnace that has been serviced once. Neither one of these furnaces were Carriers. Never buy a furnace with a circuit board. They do not last more than a year. It costs more than $200 every time you get it repaired.

Im the same person who contributed the complaint below. I am obliged to state that in the end, three days later, Carrier authorized the complete replacement of the outdoor unit, which is worth several thousand dollars. However, Carrier is wiping their hands of it from this point forward. In other words, no warranty. I will also have to pay the labor and supply cost of over $900 and that is with the labor being significantly discounted by my HVAC company. Hopefully, the new 4-ton Carrier Infinity heat pump will perform as well as the 2-ton Infinity heat pump that conditions the first floor of our house.

I had the unfortunate experience of replacing two furnaces this year. One was a 12-year old Bryant and the other was a 7-year old Carrier. In both cases, the heat exchanger failed prematurely. In both cases, the technicians informed me that this is a known issue to Carrier with furnaces built between 2000 and 2012. In fact, they have been sued for this exact problem. In both cases, the part was under warranty; however, Carrier does not cover the cost of labor. Labor is the most expensive part! They also replace the exchanger with the same exact part that is known to fail! The cost of the labor and the other impacted parts cost half as much as a new furnace. In both cases, the technicians, which I trust, suggested that I not put any more money into the old furnace. The CO levels were through the roof, so they refused to turn the furnace back on due to safety concerns. Of course, the most recent happened during 3-degree weather in Minnesota.I feel cheated by Carrier for leaving flawed furnaces in the market. I feel cheated by Carrier for only covering the part (heat exchanger) when labor alone for that item is $1300. I feel cheated by Carrier for conveniently only covering standard parts for 5 years when furnaces are expected to last 15 years. I feel cheated by Carrier/UTC because my new furnace had to either be a Bryant or Carrier brand because my house was frozen and I had no time to research other service providers and their offerings. No reason to call customer service with Carrier. They elevated the issue to Level 2 support, which then told me to email their Management Review Board. I sent that email 10 days ago with no response yet. I have to be one of their top customers this year after purchasing two furnaces and an AC. At least have some respect and send a response that you are reviewing the complaint!

Had a new Carrier furnace and A/C installed in August 2013. It totally worked fine until last summer. After several visits by several technicians they replaced a low pressure switch and a coil in the inside unit. Last occurred last fall. I turn the unit on the spring and no A/C. Called the company that installed it since it is still under the 5 year labor 10 year parts warranty. It required 2 lbs of Puron. They never checked for a leak but recommended I have a nitrogen test that would cost me $800.00. I asked why I have to pay for a leak test under warranty. The tech told me that it is not covered under warranty. So they will continue to put Freon in until it goes out of warranty in August then it is all on me. A wasted 9k. I had complaint Carrier for my split ac (1.5ton), this is my fourth complaint for your product. Last complaint was lodged for NOISE OCCUR IN SWING FLAP. Which was done by your engineer Mr. ** who had broken the swing flap and on the same day, when I switch on my air conditioner the swinging flap is not moving, and on the next day I again complain your carrier, then again Mr. ** come from your side as an engineer and said that it is broken by you, and you have to pay for this. Tell me why should I try to repair the air conditioner and why should I touch when you are providing services for your product, when the product is under warrantyor why should I touch I am not a technician of air conditioner. This part was totally checked and repaired by your employee and now today he is saying that you have broken the part and you have to pay for that.

AC unit installed October 2008. Was serviced couple years ago, went down last year so needed to pay for more freon (sp) and labor cost, approximately $160. Now this year the heat pump went out and is now costing me another $1000 to fix. Service, change filters and maintain all you want, these machines will still fall apart!!

I had 25 year old air conditioner that needed the usual minor repairs every few years, nothing major. My A/C bill was high so I decided to buy a new cost efficient A/C, against several technicians advice. I checked around and was told to by homeowners that Carrier was the one to buy. Theyve had theirs for 20 years without problems. I bought this one less than 2 years ago and have had service technicians out three times and the blower motor changed last year. This weekend it stopped working again and the technician said I needed a new compressor. Major repair. $1,200 cost. Called Carrier to complain and all they told me was that parts are free, but labor is not. The parts may be free, but the shipping is not! This is ridiculous! Less than 2 years old and Carrier is not doing anything about it. Back to homeowners that told me to buy a Carrier, they all bought them when they were made in America. Everyone who is having issues, I wager, their A/C was made in Mexico. Coincidence? I think not!

Payne is a division of Carrier Corp. I purchased a Payne central A/C unit in 2011 and have regretted it ever since. By 2014, the unit was not cooling my house. I contacted the installer who came to diagnose and repair. I was told there was a small Freon leak and my vent directions were set wrong and everything should be OK. 2016 - Again the A/C not cooling house. The original technician did not return my calls. I hired another company to diagnose/fix. They told me there was a Freon leak that caused damage to my unit and it needs to be replaced. I contacted Payne (a division of Carrier). Wow! A service tech responded with aggression/sarcasm. He kept saying Well why cant you tell me whats wrong the unit? I kept asking him to call the HVAC company to find out. He told me I had to hire yet another company at my cost and that Payne would not pay for this even though he had not talked to the first company. He agreed to talk to the first company. Days later, no response. The outside HVAC company told me they have tried to contact the agent several times. No response. I contacted customer relations at Payne. I was just informed my conversation is being recorded. This unit is still under warranty and now I have read reviews from this site, I am horrified! I have spent hours on the phone. It has been 90 degrees this week and I cant get anyone to help me.

I replaced 4 or 5 of my a/c units in my home in Playa Del Carmen with Carrier because I thought I was getting a superior product. I was totally wrong. These units have lasted less time than my cheaper Chinese units at half the cost. One unit has had a control board failure twice in one year and the unit is less than a year and a half old! And of course the Carrier dealer in Cancun warranties nothing. So, needless to say, I am never buying Carrier again.

I purchased a new Carrier Infinity 25HNA unit in the summer of 2006. The purchase included a 10-year warranty. I just recently found out that my compressor locked up. (7.5 years). It has the Bristol compressor in it. My A/C guy mentioned that Carrier had numerous problems with this compressor. Carrier offered to replace the compressor but I would have to pay around $1400 in labor and additional parts to get my unit going again. On top of that, Carrier told me if I went this route there would be no further warranty on the unit. My other option was to pay $2500 for an entire outside unit and they would warranty this new unit for 10 years. I am very disappointed in Carrier. I have owned several other brands and never had a compressor go out. I own several rental units that the heat pumps have been going for almost 20 years. From the looks of this mess, i do not plan on ever buying a Carrier unit again.

I have had a Carrier Infinity system for 10 years. Within 3 years the compressor went out. A few years later we had a freeze and the heat pump turned on the outside unit breaking the fan. Carrier refused to cover. A year ago the compressor went out again. Carrier was willing to cover the compressor under a 10 year warranty, but not labor. My contract stated parts and labor. They later, after much negotiation, agreed to replace the condenser (including compressor) for $2500 and would extend a new warranty for 10 years parts and labor. Now the unit dies and its a circuit board. After replacing the unit would not come on again. It took 7 hours on the phone between the tech and Carrier to get it running again. Carrier support was reading a manual to help the tech figure out the problem. Their service even to a technician is a joke. I will never own another Carrier.

Had a new Carrier system (AC 24ACB3 & Furnace 59SP5) installed in our home June 2017. After install, we were very disappointed to find that our brand new furnace and AC unit were noisier than our old ones (not sure about energy efficiency yet but it seems that the new Carrier unit runs longer and more often than the old replaced unit). Back to the noise issues: We had Expert Heating & Cooling come back to our house a handful of times to try to determine and fix the excessive noises that were being sent throughout the home. #1. They replaced a portion of the factory AC line with a suction line at the unit. This new line is an eyesore and looks ugly. It did however quiet it down quite a bit (if we had not complained we wouldve been stuck with the excessively loud noise - now we have an ugly tube at the AC unit). Our old unit was quiet and not an eyesore #2. The new Carrier thermostat made a loud annoying click that everyone in the living room could hear each time the unit turned on and each time it turned off (our old replaced thermostat was quiet) - the new one was unacceptable. Again, they came out and replaced it with one that doesnt make a loud click. #3. Excessive/continuous blower whining or howling coming from the brand new furnace. This steady whirling whining noise permeates through the entire house and you can hear it at every vent - its very annoying. They tried to address it numerous times; They slowed down the blower speed but that wasnt the answer. Another time, both Expert and Carrier came out to the house and replaced the blower - - the whistle from the blower was still the same. Carrier said this is the way the new blower sounds and that we would have to get used to it - (there is NO getting used to it so far). Carrier mentioned that its possible we could try an older generation blower but we would lose some of the energy efficiencies that we gain on the new one. Carrier also mentioned that they could insulate some of our ducts near the furnace to quiet things down. Today the whistle still exists. So, in summary: we were very very impressed with Expert Heating & Coolings professionalism and customer care. However, we are very disappointed with the Carrier products we received. Please let us know if something can be done (without compromising the efficiencies of our new system) to remove the whistle noise. 12/7/2018 update - Carrier never responded to this note I submitted to them on their website. (and no, this howling noise is not caused by little air leaks or whistles in the air ducts, its from the motor)

My inducer has bad bearings, sounds like a 747 in my home when the furnace fires up. In addition, the evaporator is completely rusted. I have a seven year old system, and the builder did not register the system at install. I contacted Carrier and they basically told me to go fly a kite, even though they say they would have warranted their product had it been registered. The outside compressor is badly weathered, paint is peeling, rusted. The install guy said that although it has a Carrier brand on the outside, they took another system and merely added the Carrier logo to it. So after seven years Im looking at a replacement of the system. Guess what, it wont be a Carrier.

My Carrier Infinity Air Conditioner unit cost roughly $9,500 to install and was put in four years ago. My A/C stopped working because the condensing coil was leaking from the riser. This caused it to run under charged and blew the compressor. Now I need a new compressor, a new coil, a new capacitor, a new wire harness for the compressor and a new filter dryer - essentially building a new A/C unit. Carrier will cover the parts but the labor will cost $1,455 and they will not cover that cost. IF the tech agrees its a quality control issue they will see what they can do. Obviously by the number of complaints about Carriers coils, this IS a quality issue.

On our new house, the heating system is Carrier. Five years and three months now, it is out of warranty and the coil leaks have evaporated. Carrier refused to replace the part which, I think, is the quality problem. In Trane system, I had an AC which lasted for 24 years and is still going strong and did not lose freon. They just make junk parts. Two years after, the startup condenser fan will not start and they had to add a start-up kit to get the fan going again and patch up design. I will never buy or recommend any Carrier product to anyone I know. Just stay away from the product that they make.

Purchased a Carrier Infinity furnace and heat pump on 6/21/13. The compressor went bad in 10 days on July 3, 2013. Carrier replaced the unit. Less than 3 weeks later, the unit shut down. There was a loose wire on the outside unit. Twice the techs have been out to try to fix the water in the garage during the summer. Wrapped the outtake lines and flushed the line. They say it is just condensation. A few days ago, I discovered I have a steady leak under my house. They will have to contact Carrier because they are not sure of what the problem is but they think it is a bad gasket. Does anyone know if there has been a recall on this system or is there a class action lawsuit? I seriously think I have a lemon. I have not contacted Carrier yet, but will this week if the leak is not fixed.

I recently installed Carrier Performance 96% efficiency gas furnace. It gives me more trouble than comfort. This furnace is way louder than my old 30 year old furnace. The fan motor seems to have two speeds, the noise level of the lower speed is acceptable but when it is in high speed, the noise suddenly turns extremely loud. It is so loud that it often disrupts your sleep especially when the heat kicks in. I paid so much for this furnace and it does not give me the comfort I expected. The new and improved unit has a Copeland scroll compressor which seems to be the industry standard. Well, guess what, 6 days out of warranty the second Bristol compressor goes out. My residence air conditioner was leaking water under the furnace combination. The air conditioner tech diagnosed the pan leaking after checking for the freon pressure. I said why can I not patch the pan. He showed me how to access the evaporator coil and pan on the gas force air furnace by removing a panel on the rear near the evaporator coil. I have a Carrier AC.I looked hard for the source of the water as the pan was not leaking when I poured water on the pan, and the water was properly draining. The evaporator coil can slide out of the furnace housing, but one needs a platform to rest the coil to prevent kinking of the lines (very important as freon will leak, if not careful). I finally saw about two inches of dust/dirt at the top of the evaporator coil and surmised that this dirt was preventing the evaporated water from draining properly. After cleaning the evaporator coil, the AC seem to work, but the outside temperature was not hot enough to really test the AC.Another process was required, get some coil solvent from Home Depot and spray it on the coil. Be sure to get the ones that evaporate by themselves not require rinsing. I sprayed water on the coils after the foam went away just to be sure. Theoretically, the evaporated water will wash the solvent away when the AC is operating. Anyway, for a mechanically inclined person saving $5k to $6K using the above is worth a try! Or, you try talking the tech into looking at the coil itself and doing the cleaning for a few hundred dollars to pay for his time.

Then the inside unit needed to be sent back a few weeks later. 1 Year later in 9-degree weather with no warning from the Infinity app the inside of the unit clogged and now needs replacing again. Carrier is not available on Sundays so if you need any replacement you need 2 days.I had a perfect functioning electric unit that was replaced for cost and energy reasons, I have thousands in now in back up portable a/cs and heating units since Ive lost faith. Its worrisome that the inside of the unit looks like it burned and if the house didnt drop 10 degrees while I was home we may have had more than 1 frozen pipe. Today I am going to try to get Polsinello to quickly get another one order since the service tech stated its not fixable after charging us 270.00. The install cost 10,000.

The Carrier/Bryant air handler for a heat pump has a plastic pan inside the unit to catch condensation. The plastic pan material is of poor quality for the environmental temperature swings that it should have been designed in which to operate. After only 2.5 years, the pan cracked in July, water soaked the air handler insulation, and caused the ductwork to drip condensation on to the attic insulation and ruin the ceiling below the unit. The secondary protection pan under the air handler caught the water that dripped from the air handler but there was no protection for the plenum and ductwork which was collecting a vast amount of moisture from the soaked air handler. This is where the ceiling damaged occurred. Florida summers are hot and humid so the unit will produce a lot of condensation and a broken pan causes a lot of damage and high repair cost. The unit was under warranty so the replacement pan is free but the labor takes 4 hours to remove the coils, replace the pan, and replace the internal insulation in the unit. The internal insulation is not covered by the warranty so that is an extra cost. So there is about $700 of labor and insulation cost to replace a pan under warranty. Plus I need to repair my ceiling where the leak occurred. I suggest that Carrier should recall these pans and replace them with pans made of higher quality material. Perhaps made with plastic that is thicker, more flexible, and can withstand extreme heat and cold temperature swings. The pan is located next to the coil so when the heat pump is operating, the pan gets hot and obviously brittle. Also units should be designed so that parts can be quickly replaced. That seems to be a lost art. I have done some research and found that Lennox has a thicker more flexible pan that doesnt crack under normal use of the A/C and heat pump operation.

I had a new heat pump installed yesterday. While the technician was here, we attempted to register the new equipment using the website address in the Carrier literature. A message came up and said its not a valid website (cac.bdp.com). So I called Carrier, their phone message said to go to Carrier.com/homecomfort to register the product, which I did. While the tech was here, I attempted to register the equipment but the website kept asking for the installer no matter what I entered. The technician recommended that I call Carrier back (he had to go to his next job). I called Carrier and was told they no longer accept product registrations over the phone. So when I told the woman I could log in to their website to register the product while she was on the phone, she said she wasnt allowed to hold for customers. She seemed pretty rude. The problem here is that the Carrier website wont allow me to register my product (tried three different browsers) and their customer service will not help me register. This comes across as a warranty scam. Make it difficult so that customers dont register the product then deny warranty claims.

Paid over $1,700 to have board on furnace rebuilt. Next came the compressor. That is $2,200, plus. I say plus because the installer has sent crews here at least 4 times and they are unable to get the system working properly. I have tried to get Carrier to have an engineer or factory rep talk to the installers, to no avail. They say they dont make phone calls. I have sent an email to United Technologies who owns Carrier. No answer as yet. I am embarrassed to have to call the installers, again, and tell them I still do not have heat in my master bedroom and bath. On fixed income and money is scarce. I would hope that Carrier thought enough of their reputation to have established a Factory Engineer or several to talk installers through problems. From what I have been able to gather from the installers the computer system on Infinity is complicated. I am frustrated, exasperated and with Winter coming on desperate. I hate to see what I am going to be charged for a system that does not fully function.

Carrier Comfort Series unit - Puron. We are extremely dissatisfied customers. $4,500 was spent on a brand new, energy efficient air conditioner. We were told from the sales man that this was the top of the line product and will save time and money. We had this new unit installed on Aug. 11, 2014 and when we went downstairs to check it on Sept. 6, 2014 because it wasnt dropping the temperature in the home sufficiently, we saw that there was water all surrounding the unit. In +30 degree weather we called the company to say we wanted it fixed and they couldnt send out a worker for a few days. When a worker came out he worked for 2 hours that night and 4 hours the next day, he spent this time cleaning up the mess that was left by the installers. He told us when he had done all that he was able to that the unit was defective and the company was aware of 20 other units that were defective this summer of the same model. Apparently the evaporator coil was faulty on it. Waiting for the sales man to call back. So far no call. Not happy.

Saved to purchase new heat and AC. Bought July 2018. So excited...finally not having to call and have our old heater fixed regularly (GOODMAN). When we put the heat on for the first time, you have a smell, normal, especially after sitting for a few months, not in use. Our rec. room is downstairs as well is our office. We can smell a chemical/chlorine, gassy smell. Way ahead of you. Called gas company, called installer and checked my monoxide detector. NOTHING. No leaks, they found no odor. Everything is running top notch and fine. Okay, now. We sound crazy but at night, there is a smell of gassy, chlorine, chemical.I looked online to see if others had this problem and they do... I called Carrier and they offered no solution or tell us what it may be. It is Jan. 24th 2019 and I am typing this review with a smell of gas, chlorine in the air. I feel sick to my stomach and have a headache. We get a sleepy feeling when we shouldnt be tired. We are extremely MAD that this is happening. We have monoxide, gas detectors on all floors, one right next to the unit. We checked this so often, we have a new hobby. Sickening... I wish we never bought this and I wanted my old Goodman back.

I bought a high efficiency Infinity heating and cooling system from a Carrier authorized dealer in Oct 2009. Total cost was approx. $9500.00cdn. Both A/C and furnace came with a 10-year Carrier parts warranty. Also, I purchased 10-year Carrier labor warranty, which was offered in lieu of Carrier cool cash rebate of $350.00. My invoice clearly shows that there is a 10 years parts and Carrier labor warranty on both units. On May 31, 2013, our A/C unit stopped working. The dealer who sold and installed the unit is no longer in business. On June 3, 2013 I called Carrier at 1-800carrier, Canadian helpline. Carriers customer relations responded. She said that the dealer only registered for 10-year parts warranty and there is no labor warranty in their system. She said that she would send a message to Carrier office in Mississauga to look into this further and see what they could do to help me.On June 3, I received a call from Carriers technical division in Mississauga, who was extremely rude and simply said, There is nothing I can do to help you because the dealer did not register the labor warranty. Then he asked me for a warranty certificate issued by Carrier, which I never received. He wanted me to fax him a copy of the invoice, which I did. He said that he would talk to his sales management team and get back to me. He was focused more in telling me how their internal system worked rather than paying attention to my problem. He refused to give me his work number or the email address. He said to contact the 1-800 number (USA) and they would call him to contact me. After three days of several follow-up calls to 1-800-Carrier, the same person calls me back to tell me the same thing that there is nothing he can do for me. He concurred that there should be a 10-year Carrier labor warranty on both units as clearly indicated on the invoice. He also agreed that the cost of 10 years warranty was $350.00 (same as the Carrier cool cash rebate, which I never received because it was applied to buy the 10 years labor warranty), but flatly refused to honor the warranty because this warranty is not registered in their system and he could not go back and register this warranty after three years. He refused to send me his response in writing.

I have a Carrier-Payne A/C heat pump that was installed in a new construction in late 2005 or early 2006. I do not know the specific model number. Up until about 2 years ago, the unit ran problem-free. Since that time, I have had nothing but problems. The unit will quit heating/cooling without warning. The outside fan (not sure what its called) does not come on when the unit comes on and the compressor kicks out to prevent overheating. I can turn the unit off for a few hours and when I turn it back on, it runs fine for hours, days or weeks. It’s totally unpredictable. A technician will come out tomorrow for at least the 6th time. He has replaced a variety of electronic modules, the outside fan twice and added freon once, even though it was not critically low. He is at a loss on what to do next to try and fix it. Neither he nor I have called Carrier and after reading these posts, it would probably be a waste of time. I am paranoid about this unit and had to have someone house sit while I was on vacation just to keep a check on the A/C. Based on all of the compressor problems Ive read about, Im thinking that is the next thing to go out. I cant think of a compelling reason to replace this Carrier with another one.

Like others, it seems that a few months right out of warranty something breaks. I installed a top of the line Infinity 96 5 years ago. Last week the furnace motor stops operating. My service company followed the repair instructions that suggests replacement of a main PC board and then a motor module. It turns out the main PC board did not need replacement and the motor module was defective - a couple of months outside warranty. Carrier wont accept the unused main PC board back once it was opened. At wholesale cost I was out $900 for the two parts. I would wish that Carrier would accept the PC board back for credit and replace the motor module under warranty. So far I have had no luck going up the chain at Carrier. Any suggestions would be welcome.

The HVAC system was installed, new, in March of 2015. It seems unreasonable that the evaporator coil should fail within three years, but it (and my neighbors) did after about three years. Sure parts are warranted, but the labor was excessive for the repair. Id look elsewhere for a good unit if you have the opportunity.

Three top of the line Carrier units installed in the fall of 2006 has 100% rust and mold in all the copper evaporator coils inside the 3 air handlers. It has undergone consistent maintenance and service in the spring and fall every year. I contacted Carrier with the problem and they refused any assistance because the 5 year warranty has expired on the component, even though the local Carrier dealer who installed and serviced the units confirmed it is a manufacturing problem. The 3 unit models are: FV4BNF002, serial # 1606A82006; FV4BNF005, serial # 1106A87390; and FV4BNF005, serial # 4805A85599.If anyone reading this review is planning on installing a Carrier unit, please think twice and also read the 80+ other similar complaints. Also, please pass the word around so that others will not have to go through similar experience. The builder convinced us to install these Carrier units when we were considering another leading HVAC brand known for its excellent customer service and product reliability.

In less than three years of installing a new heat pump, we have had the upstairs computer board replaced, the outside capacitor unit and the upstairs blower motor. I have a case # given to me from Carrier for the concern of the unit. Of course, they say they havent had any complaints for these particular parts not lasting. According to all of the concerns I see from the reviews, I beg to differ. They have told me they will send a Carrier representative to us to have our unit evaluated if we have another problem as all things have been the inner electrical or computer parts. I have had no concern with our installer... just not happy with the product. I feel like spitting bullets.

Lakewood Furnace, Lakewood, Ohio & Carrier Greenspeed Heat Pump. Carrie
Lakewood Furnace, Lakewood, Ohio & Carrier Greenspeed Heat Pump. Carrier is Awful. Stay away. So bad, it’s criminal. Installed a very expensive top of the line Carrier heat pump - it was defective from day one. No air flow or humidity control. Carrier, as well as, the Authorized Carrier Dealer/Owner and techs could care less to help or troubleshoot in any way - they dont respond to emails or letters or calls. This is a very bad company. I have spent over 60 days so far trying to get this heat pump fixed. The dealer/owner is a walk away guy - wants to install pricey equipment and if anything goes wrong threatens you with lawsuit to pay. I have never, ever, experienced such a bad company and bad people. One tech said, You can call me 100 times but Im not gonna fix your heat pump. And just buy floor fans. That should work. Unreal - spare yourself this stress and use a reputable company. After calling, writing, emailing everyday for over 60 days, corporate Carrier has been of no help to me and the local dealer/installer is worse. Carrier only cares about sales and protects its rogue dealers - customers mean nothing. My home is being damaged everyday - no cooling, no heat, high humidity (mold) and no airflow or ventilation. 60 days of no action, I worry about when winter comes with no heat.

We got a new HVAC system in 2009, 11 years ago. It was Carriers top of the line furnace and central air conditioner at the time. It was the Infinity System. Quite expensive to say the least. Well, fast forward 11 years (to 2020). The Carrier central air conditioners condenser apparently went out. The company who installed it (In 2009) came out to diagnose a grinding sound I heard coming from the unit. Guess what?! Yep, you guessed it! My entire central air conditioner would need replaced due to the condenser failing!I know a couple family members whove had their central air conditioners for over 30 years, and theyre still in working order. If this new efficient HVAC equipment cant hold up for at least 20 years, doesnt that outweigh any efficiency improvements you got out of them?! In my opinion, not only are you out of an expensive unit, but for environmental purposes- it would be better to have a less efficient system last 30 years than a more efficient system last 10! Why? Because the materials to make it end up in a landfill 3 times sooner than the old style air conditioners! If I had known this Carrier AC would have only lasted 11 years, I would have went with a less expensive brand! Whats the point paying nearly twice as much, potentially, only to have your unit completely fail 10-11 years later! PS: I recently went out and bought a new window AC. I couldnt afford to spring for a new central AC, nor had any desire after that experience!

5 compressors in five years - On June 29th, 2007, we installed a Carrier Infinity 3-ton 15.5 Seer heat pump model 25HNA636A003, the high efficiency unit, thinking that we would recoup our upgrade expenses in energy savings. Wrong! In 2009, the air compressor went out. We had installed under our five star warranty. Now, 7-30-12, we just had another compressor installed under the ten year warranty. The man who installed the latest compressor said this is a bad compressor by the name of Bristol. He wanted to sell me a new compressor for $2,500. Carrier knows this is a bad compressor and should replace it with one that wont keep burning out. I still have five years left on the five star warranty.

Two-year-old system does not remove humidity from our home despite four service calls and a compressor replacement. The condensing unit never drains water and the Carrier dealer who installed the unit says all is okay/normal. As a result the humidity level in the house is always high, sometimes more than it is inside. Only two adults live in the home and the bathrooms/laundry room are well vented/exhausted. Does not appear from what I read that Carrier cares. Can the problem be linked to the refrigerant no longer being Freon? I have placed a portable dehumidifer upstairs which helps some and removes several quarts of water daily. We live in high humidity Indiana. Suggestions?

I bought a Carrier heating and cooling system back in 2010. Had a problem with the condenser freezing up when the weather got cold. Happened several times but was rectified. This year the heat went out. Had the same symptom. The company I bought the Carrier from was no longer in business so called another one that was a Carrier certified. They condemned the unit. Heat exchanger was burnt. These typically should last for 15 years. Only lasted eight and a half years. Getting Carrier will replace the part but the problem is the installation is very expensive. Its like buying an expensive car. All the parts are very expensive and they charge a fortune to install it. Dont be comforted by the warranty. Its worth very little.

I bought the 5 ton Carrier Infinity HNA26 indoor and outdoor unit heat pump
I bought the 5 ton Carrier Infinity HNA26 indoor and outdoor unit heat pump system in 2007. My money was good; my purchase was not. Ducting was made to spec for the Carrier heat pump compressor in a new home heating some 3500 sq feet. 4 years later, 2011, the original compressor packed it in, a new compressor was installed costing me some $2000.00 more - labour and refrigerant. There were also numerous service calls prior, with among others the replacement of a honking reversing valve. Now in 2015 the 2011 replacement compressor has packed it in - another 4 years. Two (2) compressors shot! Junk! I phoned another heat pump outfit and they will install a comparable American Standard for some $12,500.00 here in British Columbia, Canada. That is a boat load of money to replace a Carrier unit that should have lasted some 15 or so more years. There should be a class action suit against Carrier for this!

2017 AC Bad Condensor Coil after 1.5 years. Model 24abc636a300. $500 to find leak & add 3 pounds of Freon. $1500 to remove outside unit (take back to Carrier) & install new one. Several leaks on Cond. coils at welds & Baffle plate. Also they dont even install low pressure switches to protect the compressor. These are the notes from AC Tech: Found unit to have small leak in condenser coil. Appears to be in between header plate and coil making it difficult to bubble test. However video indicates a leak with electronic leak detector. Customer not interested in replacing coil under warranty at this time. Customer only wanted to charge unit. Leak will only worsen and refrigerant will leak out again and with no high or low pressure switches compressor damage could occur if unit continues to run with no refrigerant. Unit also has 45+5 mfd battery pack weak and customer declined replacing under warranty as well.

Luckily, I was able to find that it was just a run capacitor, after shocking the **out of myself, as I am not a certified HVAC guy, but it was back up and running. Over the next few years, I noticed an extreme amount of rust water coming from the drain line. Now, the A/C is broke again, this time compressor is locked up. I spent $300 to have tech come out and tell me this. He also told me that Carrier has a ten year warranty on parts. Wrong again, I talked to a manager and they said 5 years. In 09, they went to ten after the new and improved coils and compressors. The funny thing is she told me that 5- 10 years is normal life expectancy. Are you kidding me? Im a flooring contractor and if I told that to my customers, I would never get any business. Needless to say, I have a 6.5 year old house with a HVAC system that is not working and Carrier reps believe this is okay. There needs to be a class action law suit against them.

Just over ten years ago, we built a new home in Pennsylvania and decided on a Carrier heat pump because of anticipated quality and longevity. The outdoor unit is a 38YDB using a Bristol compressor. The compressor recently failed after 10 years and 6 months. Through our HVAC repair company, we knew that Carrier has had problems with the Bristol compressors (which are no longer used) and our repair company should know since they have been a dealer for almost 30 years.I contacted Carrier customer service and customer relations personnel by telephone and I made them aware (although they didnt acknowledge) of the companys compressor problems. I asked two questions : 1) would Carrier provide some satisfaction to our situation with regard to how close to the warranty the failure occurred? and 2) if we should choose to purchase a new Carrier unit, would the company provide any type of recompense toward the cost of the new unit? Carrier provided nothing in response to my inquiries. Essentially, No, were not going to provide any measure of customer relief or satisfaction and with the tone of, nor do we really care if you take your business elsewhere. This I will certainly do!

As a manager for a mechanical contractor it is very hard to look my customers in the face and tell them that the new heat pump we just installed doesnt work. This has happened 3 times in less than 90 days. One was short compressor mounting bolts from the factory and the refrigerant line broke during shipment. Carrier said it was a warranty issue. I say a factory defect! They wanted me to fix and not provide a replacement. Took a lot of my time 15 plus hours but they finally replaced. Today new unit had a bad transformer and would only heat. When switched to cool compressor would only run for 15 seconds and would shut off on high limit. Brand new unit needs a reversing valve.Again Carrier wants me to repair and not provide a replacement unit. Carrier corporate is useless in solving my issues as a contractor. I feel for the all the homeowners. Trane is 60 yards away from CARRIER GREAT LAKES, my local carrier distributor. Carrier Comfort 80 gas furnace blower motor & cage failure- The blower motor and blower squirrel cage have both recently failed on this 9-year-old unit. Preventive maintenance twice yearly has been consistently scheduled. Warranty was for 5 years for all parts except heat exchanger (10 years). Cost to replace both of these items was $960 less my 15% discount for being a preferred customer. VERY HIGH PRICES! The tech volunteered that Carriers prices on replacement parts is high. I found the same parts on other HVAC supplier websites for much less - I was initially not comfortable with handling the parts change out, but now seeing how it was done, could probably have done it myself & saved a bunch of $. I contacted Carrier, but got no response from them. Had asked for some $ warranty assistance since these parts failed prior to 10 years of service - my tech said that after 2010, Carrier increased their warranty to 10 years on other parts. This is the first time I have had any blower failures on a furnace earlier than 20 years of service. Apparently they just dont make em like they used to and Carrier doesnt really care about their residential consumer customers either. I have a Carrier 24ANB624A003 condensing unit matched with a 59TN6080V 17-14 gas furnace and using the communicating thermostat. The contractor that installed it used best practise methods and materials when installing the unit. That included pulling a proper vacuum in the refrigerant pipe and installing a filter dryer before opening the valves on the condensing unit. Carriers condensing units are pre-charged with enough refrigerant gas for 25 of line set. The contractor has provided me with a ten-year comprehensive warranty conditional on my having them do the annual preventive maintenance. I have 36 years of experience (now retired) as a commercial heating and air conditioning contractor and I have designed and supervised the installation of thousands of systems and am a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers so I can speak with some authority on the subject. Carriers quality is as good as any other manufacturer. Problems with systems are more often that not poor installations and poorly trained technicians. If your contractor does not provide a ten-year comprehensive parts and labour warranty then choose one that does.

In mid-2007, I had my 13-year old HVAC system replaced with a Carrier Infinity system with 5 ton 14.0 SEER unit (model #24ANA760A003) to give a peace of mind regarding reliability. Two years ago, the system failed and the temp in my house got to over 100 degrees here in AZ. The installation company told me the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced at a cost of over $800. This with the unit still under warranty! Now almost exactly two years later, the compressor again went out and needs to be replaced. The owner of the installation company told me that Carrier acknowledges that this is a faulty unit (as evidenced by the multiple other complaints here), but refuses to replace it with anything other than another unit of the very same defective model. And of course, I have to pay all the labor charges again. Carrier seems truly unconcerned regarding customer service and only wants to take your money and run. I thought I purchased the best warranty and well-known product available with the cost of over $7000. After 18 months of operation, this unit started having problems. After a multitude of service calls to the dealer, it was determined that there was a water to freon leak. It was then classified as a catastrophic failure event. This happened during the middle of winter and we had to rely upon the back up heat system, which barely provided enough heat to keep but consumed a huge amount of power.Carrier required the dealer to cut the water coil unit and sent to Oklahoma to be analyzed. It was apparently determined the copper tubing had developed corrosion by contaminated loop fluid and their opinion was that it was not a manufacturing problem. I requested the coil system be returned so that I could have it analyzed by my own sources. I did not receive any response. I did, however, keep both intake and outtake ends of this coil system. There is no indication of any corrosion.Through many calls to dealer, distributor, and manufacturer (Carrier), the distributor finally agreed to replace the now destroyed heat pump, if I agreed to remedy the so-called water corrosion problem with a separate enclosed plate to plate loop heat exchanger, which I agreed to due out of desperation at the cost of $2600.The new water source heat pump provided by the distributor is a Carrier 50 YD model, installed on 04/22/11. Alas, this was not the end of the story. On 01/11/13 (20 months after installation), I had to have a service call to replace the freeze control sensor. One month later, Im still having problems. Another service call determined there was a freon leak at one of the solder connections which was repaired. I was wrong once again thinking, I had a good warranted Carrier product. As I understand it Carrier would not honor any of the repair costs which the dealer said he would absorb. Needless to say, Im stuck with this product. I really have no problems with the dealer or the distributor. It appears to me they took the brunt of the cost on this matter, which I feel should have been provided by the manufacturer. As you can see, this has been a long drawn process which the manufacturer has not taken any responsibility. This has created a lot of extra stress on my family and me. Obviously, I am not a happy customer and I feel that Carrier has given me, my dealer, and the distributor a lot of headaches and hassles. This is causing a lot of redundant time-consuming checks and rechecks and no warranty support. I will never recommend or purchase a Carrier product.

I waited on phone line (1-800-CARRIER) for 22 minutes. Then gave up and pressed “1” for call back. About 40 minutes later a young woman returned call. I explained that my local dealer told me that Carrier did not support Ecobee thermostats and I wanted to verify that information. She asked to put me brief hold. After a few minutes she returned to line and advised that I would need to contact Ecobee and she provided phone number. I asked if there was someone at Carrier I could speak with. She said no because they have “no technical support staff” in customer service.

This unit was purchased 2/10/2015, 5 years parts warranty, Model 48ES-A2406030TP. This unit was problem child soon after install, kicking into lockout mode, igniter failing to light, AC part did fine was furnace part constant trouble, numerous service calls, exhaust inducer fail, high temp sensor fails. I quit using installer because failed again in less than 10 minutes after driving out the driveway, got ahold of another service company, they found high temp sensor bad kicking off furnace before satisfying thermostat, got that repaired, next thing started periodic igniter fail or repeated attempt to light kick into lock out mode again. This would not fail when service man present, told me to wait till completely fail, find problem them, month later total fail. The service company owner came out this time, found no electricity, the junction block for wiring some screws loose likely from defective assembly, yup assembled in Mexico, Once that got locked down, ignited immediately, inducer motor quieter, blower quieter, was lacking enough electric all along. Runs like should. Point is I am out hundreds of dollars on a unit under warranty, I have contacted United Technology to see if they will reimburse for defective assembly, that is not excluded under their warranty. Submitted claim today, will see what they do about this, I will follow up with the outcome of this when I hear from them, I had previous Carrier lasted 20 plus years, cracked exchanger at 20 was still running, Why I bought another, this one with new controls been a nightmare, the faulty assembly my opinion caused all the trouble all along.

We installed a Carrier ECO efficient heating and cooling system about 9 years ago, heating worked without any problem but the AC never worked properly. It stops around 81-82 degrees even if we set it to 76 or lower, especially for hot summer days when outside is over 90 degrees. We had Carrier dealers come to check and perform maintenance many times but no help. They said the a/c is fine but might be inside programming problem or controller problem which they cant fix and ask us to contact Carrier. Every time when we called Carrier, we were told to go to local dealers but local Carrier dealer asks us to go to Carrier. We are trying to find out if Carrier can have someone who can run a thorough diagnosis to figure out what is going on but dont know who we can approach. The a/c problem we noticed is a/c doesnt run enough time and stop (sometimes just 1 minutes) even it is far away from the temperature we set on controller (we set to 76, room temperature on controller is 84) then the a/c waits for a long time to restart then doesnt run enough time and stop again. Hope this helps us to get to the right place to fix the issue
