Common Reasons Why My Fridge is Too Warm
Posted On: February 16, 2021

When your refrigerator is too warm, your food spoils a lot more quickly and bad smells are more likely to occur. Even when you turn down the fridge temperature, your fridge is STILL not cool enough. Here are the most common culprits for this problem:

Check the Temperature Setting

Did someone bump the temperature setting by accident? Bumping the temperature dial is one of the most common reasons why your fridge might be too warm. Check the temperature and set it back to cold if needed (But not too cold, because you may be at risk of freezing your fridge!)

Check the Circulation Vents

Circulation vents are responsible for circulating cold air. When blocked, this could lead to your fridge not cooling properly. In most fridges, the cooled air is generated in the back of the freezer, and enters through a vent in the refrigerator compartment. This helps your fridge stay cool. Check to see if any food in your freezer or fridge is blocking this vent, ensuring there is enough room for air to circulate.

Not Enough Food

Another possible culprit for this issue is not enough food in your fridge. Refrigerated foods retain cold and share cold with other items. When your fridge is empty, there is nothing to retain the cold, which is why you can solve this issue with a few gallon jugs or pitchers of water. This will allow the coolness to maintain.

Here are the most common reasons why your fridge is not cooling properly. If the above tips don’t fix the problem, make sure to call an appliance expert to take a look at your fridge!
