Cost of washer $749.95 plus 4-yr warranty, install and hoses, $273 equals $1,023 for this GE stainless interior tall tub dishwasher GLD8700N20BB that only lasted 6 years and 4 months. It wont run, wont fill with water, nothing. Six years. Time to buy again. My advice, buy a cheap one and replace it every 36 months and forget the extended warranty. Installed: Sept. 2009. Dead: Jan. 2016. This was a replacement to an LG dishwasher that completely flooded my kitchen and caused a total tear out of my kitchen, and my homeowners insurance took LG to court. That LG cost $42,000 for a new kitchen and months of contractors and work. Washing dishes by hand is looking better every day... Think about it.

Update 4/14. GE finally conceded that the dishwasher is indeed broken last week, and set up a replacement unit to be delivered and installed. The company that delivered the new unit would not install it of course...why would they? So, we had to hire another place to install it. GE is supposed to reimburse us for the extra installation expense. Im glad it is finally resolved, but man, oh man...what a headache.

I purchased a GDF520PGJ dishwasher from Home Depot and it still doesnt work. Home Depot has no return policy and G.E. has been unable to resolve. I have written to GE Appliances Consumer Relations for a replacement but pending another service call. Its unfortunate that there is no recourse with Home Depot as was advised that I need to work with GE for the first year warranty yet my dishwasher hasnt worked for the past month. Buyer beware.

I loaded and ran the GE Profile dishwasher in the evening. Later that evening, putrid odor of undetermined origin was noted in the house. I searched throughout house to find the cause, but it was not located. The next morning, the dishwasher was found to be extremely hot on the outer surface (door) and countertop. The heated dry light was on along with the start button, which would not reset or turn off. The unit had to be disconnected by turning the electrical breaker off. All contents were either melted or had a strange brown film, along with broken tines and melted silverware rack in the dishwasher. Even the water dispenser in the bottom of the dishwasher was melted or broken. A GE service representative was called and his report stated: Unit was left on for too long and heat caused excessive damage to the product. Due to excessive damage, unit is non-repairable. He shared with me he had never seen this much damage done to a dishwasher. I spoke to GE consumer advocates twice and their solution is to provide me a discounted price on a new appliance and the email address for formal complaints. When I inquired about if there had been resolution to the cause of this problem because I wanted to make a formal complaint, I was told there is not a safety issue with the heating unit. I then spoke to a GE resource person in recall and she shared with me that it is a known issue of overheating and destroying contents, but it has not caused a fire. Igniting a fire is a justification for a recall - can we not be proactive? This department is working with me and ensured that in newer models this potential hazard does not exist. But other consumers who have purchased in this model (PDW9280N20SS) should be aware of the potential fire hazard. Everything was very hot inside and out. Consequences: the 3-year-old dishwasher (that I use about once per week) was totally ruined and I inhaled potentially toxic fumes for over 8 hours.

This is a review from another customer “Not only does this dishwasher do a lousy job of cleaning dishes, I have just found out it allows dirt to collect under the door flange==lots of dirt! There isnt enough hot water to clean this out. Very gross--do not buy.” I agree with this 100%. I have to use Clorox wipes to wipe out this disgusting sludge that builds up under the door flange every couple days. I have to buy a new dishwasher because my dishes smell, are still dirty and very unsanitary. Do not buy!!!! My dishwasher is only 3 years old.

Almost 2 years ago and right from the start this dishwasher did not clean. Numerous times they had people come out and supposedly fixed it. Ive had different suggestions as to what to do. 1. Turn on the hot water tap and make sure its hot. 2. Use various different cleaning solutions on top of the dishwasher soap. 3. Use loose detergent.4. Throw at the bottom of the washer. One of the arms keeps falling down. And the last time I was told I could return it and get a deal on a better machine. I am now left with hand washing every item that goes into it unless I want gritty glasses, dishes and silverware. I bought this at Home Depot. I will never buy any products such as this from them nor will I ever buy another GE product.

After only 4 hours of installation, the microwave turned on and the fan and light came on. It was not cooking anything. Inside of microwave was hot and I could smell a burnt electronics smell. I unplugged it, waited a few minutes, and when I plugged it in, it started up again. The LCD screen was scrambled, all lit up. Opening the door stopped the unit, but it started again when I plugged it in.

I have had a few cheap microwaves but at this point in my life I wanted to buy a good quality microwave that would last. Well I bought a 200 dollar GE microwave in February. 3 months later it went out on me. I did hard and soft reset numerous times with no success. They offered me a discounted check to replace it and it would take 4-6s weeks to receive. Instead we returned to place of purchase and they gave us a floor model to replace it. All was well for 2 months when lo and behold this one started doing the same thing. No amount of resetting would make it run. It went out cooking corn on the cob. Why is this so hard to keep running? Their response this time was a goodwill rebate certificate to purchase only a GE microwave. Why in heavens name would I want another one? It only lasts a couple of months and who is to say the 3rd replacement will not be the same.

Weve had our new over the stove microwave (GE Profile Microwave Oven PVM2170SR1SS) just over one year and the oven light went out. The owners manual has no information about how to replace the light. I called GE customer assistance office and they said it requires a technician to come to the house to replace the bulb. A service call would cost around $95 minimum. This is a ridiculous requirement to make consumers do a service call for an oven light. The owners manual does show how to replace the charcoal air filter, if you use one, by removing the plastic cover across the top of the oven with the door open. Guess what? I removed the two screws holding the plastic cover and sure enough, there was also the access to the cover to access the oven light. You just remove the one screw and the small cover plate can be removed! Be sure to turn off the power to the oven before removing the small 50w Halogen G8 light bulb (Home Depot $5.00). My complaint about GE is that they do not give the homeowner information about replacing this oven light, but instead require you to pay for a service call. The irony is that the owners manual tells you how to access the filter by removing the plastic grill and thats how you also access the panel to replace the oven light bulb. They also tell you how to replace the light bulb that provides light to your range, so it cant be a safety issue about replacing light bulbs. Requiring the consumer to request a service call for $95 just to replace the oven light, when GE could have easily put the procedure in the owners manual, is a real consumer ripoff!

So to sum you up, 600.00 purchase, the day it was deliver and installed, another 200.00 and it still will not work properly??? I found out that there were 2 recalls on this product while sitting in the warehouse for sale, I guess I was lucky. 6 service calls later, still does not work properly and you want continue to charge me service calls for this disastrous dishwasher of 3 years. Three nights ago, I loaded my GE Profile Dishwasher, model # PDW9880L00SS and began the wash cycle. The wash cycle completed and I went off to bed leaving it on the dry cycle. The next morning I smelled a burning smell but did not know where it was coming from in my home. A few hours later, my husband began searching all of the appliances in our home to see what the burning smell was. When he opened the dishwasher smoke came out of it and everything in it was completely burned. Apparently the drying mechanism never turned off after the wash cycle or it turned itself back on only on the dry cycle. I dont know. But I know one thing for sure, we are lucky that my husband was home because I left and if he wasnt there, Im positive that the dishwasher would have caught on fire causing severe damage to our home. I will never purchase a GE appliance again. Note, I also have problems with my GE refrigerator and my GE Profile microwave and our dryer. Weve had to replace the dryer and the microwave and weve repaired the refrigerator. I have a repair person coming out to see if the dishwasher is repairable, but I dont think it will be. This is terrible.

We have a GE Profile Microwave (PNM1871SM3SS) that is only 3 years old and is reporting KEYPAD SHORTED - SERVICE MAY BE REQUIRED. We called GE service repair and told them the exact message. The service guy shows up and says all he has in his order is General other service needed and that he doesnt have the keypad panel. Gives us an estimate of $501 to repair it. Tells us a new one costs $400 and with a coupon he can give us it will be $100 less. We were charged $99 for this visit which basically lasted 10 minutes (way to go GE on making money off faulty devices you sell). The service-person also told us that the average life was 10 years for these, but this one crapped out in 3. He said if we get another GE microwave, it will fit right in there and that I can do it myself if I am handy but after reading all the reviews online, I am skeptical whether I should get a GE microwave again or not!

I bought this dishwasher GLDT690TBB-00 on 05/12. Its not even 2 yrs old. I had some minor complaints about how hard it was to fit bowls, how the utensil rack wasnt easily accessible, how long the cycles took, how it had to be vented right after a cycle to keep clean dishes from smelling musty... But I was willing to put up with that. I spent about $700 new. The dishes did come out clean, if I stacked them properly. I only used it when full, about 2x/week, as I am an aging widow & live alone. It stopped functioning a few days ago. Control panel lit up, a little water came in, but no action with spray, etc. Called a local repair company today. They say the control panel is shorted out, and that in turn burned out the motor. The repair cost would have been $524.61. REALLY? Not doing that! Very disgusted. Ill never buy GE again. Last KitchenAid lasted 12 yrs, but as all the repair guys say: They dont make em like they used to! Too many bells & whistles. All I require is clean dishes, and for the appliance to do its job.

Ive been battling this dishwasher since it arrived 9 years-ago. It was a warranty replacement we were stuck with from GE. Plus, we paid $300. We could never get it to clean dishes, no matter how we loaded it or what we used, so we gave up and hand washed dishes for years. This year, I am committed to getting the dishwasher working because of hand eczema. I took it apart and cleaned the sprayer arms, filter & wiped it down completely. I also ran a dishwasher cleaner through it. I finally got it to clean dishes, but only if they are thoroughly rinsed first and on the Pots/Pans setting. After a month, it stopped cleaning my dishes again. I took apart the dishwasher again, and cleaned everything. Now, glasses on the upper rack in the back are not all getting clean. I never overload it. Im convinced that GE Dishwashers are just junk. Someday, Id love to find a dishwasher that actually works. :-( Frustrated!!!

GLDT696 series dishwasher - I have put up with my GE appliances and their problems for years, but now I will throw in the towel. Our Contractor appliances were replaced 5 years ago when remodeling the kitchen. Ten years of no problems with cheap stuff replaced with Stainless Steel GE ovens, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. I will only mention the dishwasher in this posting. Bottom line... Wish I went with another manufacturer. The washer has a gasket that loves to fall out of place creating leaks or floods. The pump has failed after the one year warranty. The control board has been replaced twice and today it looks like there will be a third one. That is if I am stupid enough to hold on to this piece of junk. If I buy another manufacturers steel front dishwasher it will not match the other appliances. At this point I dont care. GE GDF520PGDWW 24 white, full console dishwasher - Energy Star. I have had this dishwasher model since December 2014 and it has not drained consistently since the beginning either during the wash cycle or rinse cycle. GE has sent three different repair companies to replace the pump, the control panel, and ultimately the entire dishwasher, yet even the new dishwasher still does not drain consistently. Sometimes it drains and sometimes it doesnt. The GE-certified repairman was again here this morning and is again ordering a new pump. Counting the original pump, the previously replaced pump and the pump in the new unit, this would be the fourth pump. We moved in to our home in 2006 and it had a GE Monogram Microwave built in. The microwave died and I purchased a similar GE Monogram microwave to match our kitchen in 2014. That microwave died exactly 17 months later. Fortunately, we had a home warranty program as we are selling our home. I figured that this saved me the effort to complain to GE about their product... Wrong. The Home Warranty program sent a repairman who said we can order a part. A few days later I received a call that they would replace the microwave. OK... I checked online as well as with a local retailer to see which model is the replacement model, and trim kit. Today (about 10 days after I first called for service) they delivered the new GE Monogram microwave and installed it. Fortunately, I asked to test it and we tried to boil a cup of water. The contents in the oven being cooked were not visible. Either the light was too dim or the shading on the door was too dark. I have never seen a Microwave where you could not view what is inside. I called GE Customer Service while the installers were there and they refused to allow me to keep it until a replacement was delivered. They had to deinstall it, re-install my old (non working unit) and take the new one back. I called GE with my homeowners claim info and they sent me back to the Homeowner Warranty company to start the claim all over. Ridiculous.Instead of a replacement they offered me a cash value which was 60% of what I paid the retailers. When I asked why that amount? They only provide the value based on what the Warranty company gets the products/services for (wholesale cost). Net: If I used the money to buy another product it would cost me out-of-pocket for replacement. I am hoping the new unit to be delivered in the next 3 days works better. Otherwise, GE has a significant design flaw that doesnt allow you to view what is cooking in the Microwave. If thats the case, why have a window at all? Fyi - My Panasonic Microwave in our basement is working fine.... and has for years.

After one repair to my 9 year old microwave we decided to replace it. I am so sorry I did! The old microwave had a stainless steel kit and was made with quality. The replacement is a piece of junk! The outer kit is plastic and shows fingerprints like crazy as well as the microwave itself! Im always wiping it off. The flimsy door button is impossible to open without pushing it ten times in the right spot! The door doesnt close easily either! The front of the microwave is warped and wavy! I hate it! The quality of your microwaves has dropped to zero!

GE Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM2SS - The touchpad stopped responding, like many other who have had this issue. GE would not give me a break on replacing the main and supporting circuit panel as suggested by the technician, so I had to pay out $500 on my own. After less than a year now the microwave wont heat. We recently purchased three GE Profile stainless steel appliances for our new home. The total was somewhere around $3500. Within two weeks our $1000 dishwasher would not work. It took FOUR service calls and THREE weeks for it to finally be repaired. Now our $2000 oven (traditional/convection) has stopped working and the oven light will not go off without us tripping the breaker. Service tech not available for 5 days. I am expecting the new micro to go out any day now. All of these appliances are less than two months old. We had GE builder grade appliances in our previous home that are still running strong after 16 years. That is the reason we went with GE again. However, after the above mentioned issues with our new GE appliances, I encourage anybody who reads this to NEVER, EVER BUY ANY GE PRODUCTS AGAIN.

Three months after that, the microwave turned on by itself for 1 minute nonstop. I had to unplug it and call the service again. It would also turn on even when the door is open. Were using a white GE Digital Microwave Oven at home Model No. JEI2870SPSS. We got it from Ansons a few months ago when our previous Kyowa was broken beyond repair. The price is reasonable, the usable space inside is adequate and the exterior design goes well with our kitchen. It has touchpad controls which are very easy to use especially with the pre-programmed settings like steam cook and snacks. So far it has worked very well. Its quite excellent at defrosting meat and evenly heats our food. We have no problem cleaning it and its pretty silent when in use. I hope this one lasts us longer since its pricier than the Kyowa and because use of the microwave less these days because they say the radio waves emitted by these machines cause cancer.

The GE website listed on the product proclaimed GE Cares; I couldnt seem to find anyone who did despite numerous calls. The only question I had was if happened to be any troubleshooting re my problem--I dont think they cared...

GE Model PDW9280J10SS Fire - Many GE Profile dishwashers have been recalled during the same time frame as the model we purchased, but it is not listed as one of the recall models. Just as many other complaints, ours started to smoke out of the top of the front door and filled our house with smoke. Thank God we were there to shut it off. The next day I opened up the front door to see what had been burning and it had holes burnt in front and back of the main circuit box (for lack of better name), one burn mark right where the main wire harness plugs in and burnt right through it. This is the same description many others have written. There is a problem with all of these Profile dishwashers purchased between 2006 and 2009 (ours 2007). If we had not been home, who knows what would have happened?

I recently purchased a GE Profile 1.9 microwave oven from Home Depot less than a year ago. Last week I went to remove something that I had cooked and went to close the door and it would not stay shut. I ended up getting some masking tape to try and tape it shut in order to keep the light from staying on and burning out until morning when I could get a better look at it, thinking that it had to be something small that could be taken care of without any problem. Hinge adjustment, something getting in the way that I couldnt see, etc, etc. Wrong! I have been over this door with a fine tooth comb and there is nothing that I can see that is preventing it from staying closed, not only that but according to everything that I have read, I am very lucky that I didnt get fried while trying to figure out if the latching mechanism was functioning correctly. I am not even going to go through the long drawn out process of dealing with GE over this due to the simple fact that I have been there done that with my dishwasher that showed up with the front panel dented a few years back from the factory and I ended up blaming the place that I had purchased it through instead of GE and have since found out by reading other complaints that this seems to be something that is not unusual when it comes to GE appliances. I spent over 1100.00 dollars on the dishwasher and they only replaced the panel instead of giving me a new one, and I have never been satisfied with the way that it operates, and it was a very long and drawn out process and I am just not willing to spend the time again on another one of their products. It is unfortunate that we have entered a time where customer satisfaction means nothing, and the days of caring about having repeat business from a satisfied customer are over. The prices continue to rise on the things that we have become to depend on and cant seem to live without, but the quality and workmanship have not only diminished but also present safety threats. I will never purchase another GE anything and I am looking forward to the day when we all have finally had enough of this and do something that makes these companies stand behind the products that they sell and quits ripping the consumer off. Its rampant across the board no matter what you buy, and there should be laws in place in order to keep it from happening. We have laws for everything else, why not have a couple that protect the consumer and their pocket books.

I disconnected it and called GE and asked if they had experienced any problems with their product and if this was a fire hazard, the nice young lady put me on hold and did research and stated that no reports of a fire hazard or running on its own. My husband encouraged me to do my own research and guess what? shocking, I was lied to! There are reported fires on the news and a law firm has a class action lawsuit against GE! I guess because this appliance wasnt in the nice young ladys moms house it wasnt of importance to inform me of the fire hazard? GE is off of my list of products I would buy!

Bought a GE dishwasher that a service bulletin was generated by GE on a fault in their manufacturing. DD03-16 for reference. The door does not stay shut and continues to open. GE customer service suggested replacing hinges and brackets on the door. So I ordered the parts and changed them. It did not work. I called them back and they suggested purchasing and replacing additional parts. I called a local 3rd party and they provided the service bulletin and said that this is a problem in the design of these models. GE will not repair the problem. The cost has been shifted to me or they suggest buying a new dishwasher for only $150 over retail. They are hiding behind a warranty that expired, but the problem started at time zero when it was made. This is garbage and I have been without a working unit and continuing to argue with them over the repair or replacement cost. Call if you have this problem because they have identified it and have a solution that they will not tell you about.

I have an above the range GE microwave oven, model no. JVM1750M1CC. It has been in service for about 9 years. About 6 months ago it stopped working with an F3 code. The code claims the control panel needs to be replaced. I found that the price of the control panel was over $100 and the service call was at least $100. A little shopping around and I found I can purchase a new oven for about the same price. As the control panel is located just above the largest burner where water is usually heated to a boil, it receives a lot of steam. I visited a local church second hand store and purchased a countertop microwave and used it while I found a good solution. I decided to let it dry out for a few days and lo and behold it worked again. Unfortunately it only worked for a few hours, sometimes a full day and then I needed to let it dry out some more. I purchased an extension cord with an on/off switch and hooked it up. Now I can stop the electricity without having to climb up on a chair to pull the plug. Once I was set up with the easy on/off switch I could easily reset it. After about a week of resetting, it got the message. It has been working properly for over two weeks now with no failures.

I purchased this Spacemaker Microwave Oven (HVM1540LP1CS) from Home Depot in Aug. 2010 along with a GE electric range (JB400SPSS). I wanted the appliances to match and they look very nice in our kitchen. Four days ago the microwave stopped working, that is, it comes on and appears to be working but does not heat the food placed in it. After looking on the internet, I found that other consumers have had the same problem and it appears the megatron is the culprit. The microwave was manufactured in March 2010 in Malaysia so it was not an older model that has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The cost to repair the microwave will be about $125 which is about half of what I paid for it. I will not repair this microwave just to have it fail in 20 months, General Electric should be ashamed of themselves for selling foreign-made products that do not last more than 2 years. My only hope is that the electric range we purchased does not follow the same course as the microwave, consumers should be aware of these problems before they purchase General Electric products.

I called the 800 number for GE consumers and they told me they could order me the racks for $200 a piece and that they would send out a repairman for $139 plus the $40 part. In August, we read about the recall of a similar model number manufactured within same time frame. Our machine model is PDW7300J03WW, the recalled model is PDW7. Our machines serial # is **. Strangely, the serial number is not listed in the recall, even though symptoms are exactly the same!We have called GE Consumer Affairs at 1-800-386-1215 four times, the most recent today, 9/14/2012. Each time we call, we are left on hold for 59 minutes only to be disconnected automatically! I am sending a registered letter to GE CA with a copy of this link and intend to contact my local news if I do not receive sufficient response within the week. We purchased our Adora over-the-stove microwave oven from Home Depot. The Adora brand is made exclusively for Home Depot and were sold on its special functions and value. Well now, 3 years later, this exclusive models glass fogs up when we use it. There are only 2 of us living at home. We use it maybe 4 or 5 times a day. A microwaves typical lifetime is 9 to 10 years. Also, by the way, when we turn on the fan to highest, it sounds like an express train hurtling through our kitchen. Our dog had a heart attack and died the first day we operated it. No he didnt. We dont even have a dog. But you get the picture.

From these posts, Ive seen people saying that they couldnt trust GE American-made anymore. Our microwave oven was made in Malaysia, but GEs home office appears to be in Louisville, Kentucky. Our problem: peeling paint on the door and upper part of our 2009 GE #JES1451DN1WW oven. As a cancer survivor of 8 years, my antenna goes up with any defaults such as this. On a common sense scale this should never be happening. I was very sad to see no recalls on these items Ive been reading about and am frankly scared to use this microwave. Shame on you, GE.

We bought Cafe series appliances less than 4 years ago including dishwasher, fridge, stove and microwave. These are not cheap appliances. We also bought a service contract with them. When our dishwasher broke a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, we called service to have it looked at. After 3 trips and over a month later the dishwasher is still not fixed. Each time we tried to make an appointment we were always given a date 1 week out and a 4 hour time window, but each time the technicians showed up late and once even 3 hours late despite the 4 hour window. The fact that after so many visits and part replacement the dishwasher is still broken says a lot about the quality of the product and its maintainability. All customer representatives work like zombies. The problem with GE lies within the culture. Nobody cares. The service contract is a total waste money.

Two years ago, after owning a GE JVM1490 microwave-convection oven (over the stove) for three years, the door handle broke.Let me clarify that I worked for GE first as an engineer, later as manager, for 20 years including 6 in Major Appliances. I am ashamed of what I am reading how GE is treating customers today.I am perfectly capable of replacing the handle myself if I am provided the complete and correct assembly drawings and/or instructions. GE refused to provide me anything when I requested them. The scant drawings and instructions I found online are insufficient. As a matter of fact, the design is so poor that removing the internal bezel, which you must do to reach the handle fasteners, forces you to break the mounting tabs, requiring replacement of this part plus the handle. This was confirmed by the parts store I visited. However, even after removing the bezel, neither I nor another ex-GE appliance engineer could figure out the access to the fasteners. I have glued the handle three times using epoxy and Cyanoacrylate (super glue), but it has broken off a fourth time. I will figure out a way of fixing it before I pay GE close to $100 for both the handle and bezel. And if I replace the appliance, you can be sure it will not be GE.GE should be ashamed of the poor design and deplorable customer service they are giving now. How things have changed! My suggestion is that all with this problem post name and phone number of GE customer service personnel they spoke with.

After about 5 months of owning the unit (GE dishwasher model GDT580SGFBB), the door latch sensor became defective and discontinued the wash cycle up to 6 times every use. I contacted the GE warranty department. Their consumer relations advocates treated me as subhuman. I never felt like a valued customer, my concerns and my time were never a priority. Instead I became a part of their research and development program while beta testing a defective product. After 6 months of futile repairs requiring multiple technician visits I was exasperated. I had submitted 4 separate warranty claims that often were mysteriously closed without my knowledge. I finally contacted the original retailer, Home Depot, and shared my experience. They catered to me even though it was well past the 90-day store policy. They gave me a credit for the purchase price so I could choose a replacement. Since I dont want to touch another GE appliance with a 10-ft pole, I chose another brand. Shortly thereafter I received a call from GEs Escalated Issues department offering to replace the unit. Evidently that lit a fire under them. But it was too late, my patience with GE has been exhausted. If this is the way GE wants to run their business, then it will be a fast-track way to dig their own grave.

Our GE Cafe Appliance package is less than 1year old and the convection/microwave door handle is wrinkling and peeling. I realize that weight may be a concern hence the plastic vs. metal handle due to the side hinge of micro but aluminum or other light metal would have made more sense. A service tech is coming out next week to replace the in warranty handle however this cost will be our responsible next year when this happens again. A light metal retrofit/recall seems to be the logical solution to remain customer centric and maintain GE loyalty. How this material choice error is handled by GE to ensure this problem does not repeat during the life of this appliance defines brand loyalty. Thank you for your consideration.

We purchased a GE Over-The-Range microwave, model LVM1750DM1BB in late 2008 and had nothing but problems with it, from paint peeling off on the inside to buttons which did not work, to burning smell, until it finally quit completely. Nothing worked, nada. This was not a cheap microwave and, added with installation expenses, was a major purchase. Even so, it would cost more to have it repaired than the original costs combined. This is criminal, a total rip-off!

Run, dont walk, toward any dishwasher other than a GE. Problems with the dishwasher within one year - black residue on my dishes that felt and smeared like grease. Calls to GE repair resulted in the worst customer service I have ever experienced. One call returned at 4:00 am. After two visits, a lecture about how to load a dishwasher, I gave up. The effort of making calls for visits, taking time off work, rude repair technicians and being told it was not grease, I now have a dishwasher a few years old that is falling apart. Screws are now coming loose and the buttons are sticking.

We built a new home and selected the GE appliances including dishwasher, fridge and microwave thinking they were good brand. NOT. Fridge fan replaced twice, dishwasher 6 issues already, replace seals twice, entire door changed, no water, not working inside, internal latch wont release the soap and now, no water again. Just waiting for the microwave to stop working. Their appliance are terrible, built with poor quality and all are lemons. Im calling tomorrow to get my dishwasher replaced after 6 repairs in a year. I would not recommend to anyone to purchase GE appliance, worst ever. Now, Im worried they will say Im out of warranty since its now past the 1-year, but the problems under warranty have never been fixed. One fix causes another. I have documents to show my purchase in my new homeowner file.

I bought a GE dishwasher model #GDF570SSJSS from Sears. It was delivered on Thursday, installed Friday (by myself and a daughter) and the first test run produced nasty, dirty dishes. It took 2 hours and 10 minutes for it to declare that the cycle was finished and the dishes were clean. Fortunately I did not opt for the drying cycle. Or else the nasty crud would have been baked on. I called GE service and they scheduled a Monday service call. Monday, a very nice man hooked the unit up to his computer and found nothing wrong. He then placed a plexiglass door on the unit so he could watch the cycle. He found that the connection to the upper arm was not attached. He snapped it into place and declared that it was fixed. While I watched through the plexiglass door I was appalled that the reason that the GE dishwashers are so quiet is that the washing spray is extremely gentle. The technician seemed very proud of how quiet the units are. I told him that I could get my dishes cleaner if I spread them on the lawn and used a water hose sprayer. He was not amused. I chatted with him and asked several questions and learned some interesting facts. The lower and upper spray arms and the top rain action do not all happen at once. First the lower arm sprays, the machine pauses, then the upper arm sprays, the machine pauses, then the top rain action happens. This cycles over and over until the machine thinks the dishes are clean. I asked why there wasnt a hurricane inside the unit scrubbing my dishes? He said that the motor is a DC motor, I asked how many volts, he said 12.After he left I filled the machine up with dishes I had saved over the weekend for the test. The machine ran for 2 hours + (I forgot to write down the start time). The end result was nasty, dirty dishes that I washed in the sink afterward. So the new dishwasher looks just like the old dishwasher but let me tell you, she is not happy at having the worthless piece of junk sitting nearby and doing nothing while she is sweating over a sink full of dishes. When Im not quite so angry in a few days I will have a conversation with Sears to try to resolve this.

I like many other people have had issues with the keypad malfunctioning. The first one shattered the first time I used the microwave, I then replaced it 2 years later and now another 3 years the second one stopped working. GE was rude when I talked to them, said they had no record of my replacement keypads even though I contacted them directly and were offering another for $514. That is no deal, I could get one in the store for that price. Also, the icemaker and water dispenser in my GE Cafe french door refrigerator are constantly malfunctioning, my range keypad does not always work, and the seal around my dishwasher keeps coming off! GE these are not quality products and you do not stand behind them.

GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days
GE Cafe Series dishwasher model # CDW9380N20SS is a fire hazard. Three days ago, our GE Cafe Series dishwasher nearly caused a fire. If I had not been home that day, it surely would have. I ran the dishwasher as usual and went about my day several hours later. I detected a strange acrid smell and with my five-year-old who was ill and at home that day, discovered the dishwasher door was burning hot to the touch. I needed a potholder to open the door. Once opened, there was a blast of heat and smoke. I needed to use oven mitts to protect my hands from the heat to pull the racks out and handle the dishes. The heating element did not deactivate at the end of the cycle. If I had not been at home, the house would have been destroyed as all the plastic items on the top rack in the dishwasher melted. In addition the plastic parts of the lower rack, the wheels and their clips; the silverware holder; covers; the clips that hold the pot tins in place were destroyed, to the point that the majority of our silverware was coated with plastic. The plastic on the lower water dispenser has been demolished; it completely melted more than 50% of the plastic covering on the arm and is charred and burned. We are so lucky to still have a home! The door must be kept open. When the door is closed, the element super heats and presents a major fire hazard. We have noticed that there is a recall for similar models with plastic tubs, but ours has a stainless tub. GE needs to broaden the recall to include all these models. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed immediately. Our GE Cafe Series dishwasher model #CDW9380N20SS was installed on October 1, 2008. I would not be surprised to find that parts from the recall in April 2008 were also used in the Cafe Series. I have discovered in the few days since the DW units malfunction that there are over 1000 complaints listed with similar, even identical complaints, on multiple internet sites with the same problems.

This dishwasher is less than 4 years old and the rack is rusting away. It seems like it happened overnight. I didnt notice anything and then all of a sudden the first is everywhere! The metal inside of the plastic is even disintegrating. It seems like it was rusting before the plastic coating came off. The only good thing I have to say about this dishwasher is that it is quiet. At 4 years old I dont think I should be having to replace both teams!

In 2008, after waiting 30 years, we remodeled our kitchen using both a GE Range & GE OTR Microwave, model # JVM1850. Last week, it started making a loud noise when started and wont heat. From reading online it sounds like the magnetron went. Everything else, fan, turntable, lights inside and outside work, but wont heat. I called in for service to find that it would cost $89.95 to have them come out to diagnose it. Also read that a magnatron is between $150 - $200, and used to be warranted for 5 yrs. New GE microwaves only carry a 1 year total warranty. So they know they are supplying junk to us. Had to just bite the bullet and replace it. People cant afford for appliances to only last this long, at the price they are charging. I am not only upset at having to spend another $450 only 6 1/2 years later to replace a microwave that was lightly used, but GE has chosen to change the look as well, so it no longer will match the range it sits above. When I was remodeling, I read so much about matching appliances... not matched anymore. Totally disgusted.

One day after the new GE dishwasher was installed, I came home to find water raining down into my basement. My kitchen floor was destroyed. The installers came out a week later to look at it. They determined it was a faulty unit. They ordered another one. I started an insurance claim with GE. They sent a technician to look at it. 2 1/2 weeks after it was installed, the technician showed up. Surprise, it was leaking anymore (The water had been shut off for 2 weeks). Several days later the replacement unit arrived and was installed. Two days later, this one started dripping. I called to have it removed. The installation crew was scheduled to come back on Saturday to remove the dishwasher and get it out of my house. On Thursday, this unit started pouring water out onto my floor. The occasional drip had become a steady stream of water. More than a month after buying this hunk of junk, it was finally removed. Ive ordered a different brand of dishwasher. Ive hired a contractor to come and replace my floor. GE denies any responsibility. I will be starting a lawsuit against them. I cant say enough horrible things about dealing with GE.

Our Spacemaker microwave, which was installed over the stove August 2008, suddenly stopped heating food. My husband called GE, and their phone advisor advised us the microwave was under warranty. She said her computer screen showed our product registration, and she also saw we owned three other GE products. Fast forward, the GE repairman came and said the microwave repair cost would be around $400. The heating part wasnt under warranty nor was the labor. Mind you, the entire microwave (new) was under $400. We called the GE service center, and they refused to honor what their representative had told us. The most they offered was 50% off. I dont accept the premise that a new appliance should only last four years. I will replace my unusable microwave with a competitor’s brand and will pledge never to purchase a GE appliance again. I will also sell my GE stock, for I now understand why its going nowhere.

Beware of GEs scam! My new house came with a GE microwave oven model JVM16
Beware of GEs scam! My new house came with a GE microwave oven model JVM1630. It no longer heats food so I called GE repair. Heres basically what they told me: It is likely the magnetron tube and it is still under warranty, so no charge to replace it but I would have to pay $99.95 for the repairman to come to my home to diagnose the problem. If I decided I didnt want to repair the microwave, I was offered a $100 coupon toward a new one but it had to be a GE and it had to be bought on their website only. If I decided to go ahead with the repairs, the $99.95 would be deducted from the bill and I would only have to pay for additional parts and labor. I repeatedly asked for a ball-park labor charge so I could make an informed decision as to whether it was cost effective to have the repairman come out or just get a brand new one elsewhere. The person on the repair line hung up on me! I called back and I was told the same thing; that no one could tell me what the labor cost estimate might be. I asked to talk to a supervisor and same story. I didnt schedule a repair because I was taking a long trip and wouldnt be using the microwave anyway. When I returned from my trip, I called GE repair and again they wouldnt give me a ball park figure. Frustrated, I decided to have the repairman just come out and repair the darn thing and an appointment was scheduled for the next Monday. I had to rearrange a Monday day trip to Wednesday and set the repair appointment. On Monday, it was starting to get late in the afternoon, so I called to find out if the guy was on his way. A recording said my call was noted and I would be receiving a follow-up call. About 10 minutes later, Kim in dispatch called to tell me she had to reschedule the repairman to Wednesday. I explained I already had an appointment on Wednesday. which was already changed because it conflicted with the repairman coming to my home. She told me the repairman couldnt come because his truck wasnt safe to drive so that whole day was shot. The appointment was rescheduled for Wednesday and I had to again reschedule my other trip. When the guy finally showed up on Wednesday, he told me to put a glass of water in the microwave and start it. Ten seconds later, he declared it to be the magnetron tube. He was at my house about 10 minutes, just long enough to take my $99.95 credit card payment and to give me an estimate of $246.90 to repair the microwave which included the free magnetron tube, a $20 part plus tax and labor. The estimate had instructions on how to get the $100 coupon if I decided to buy a new GE microwave, which he said is what most people do. He didnt seem like he came prepared to repair the microwave at all. I was so frustrated and already out the $99.95, so I told him to go ahead and repair it. He said I should call repair to schedule him to come back to repair it! I told him to just repair it now and he said he didnt think he had a magnetron tube in his truck. I asked him if he would go to the truck and check! He did, and nope, no tube and he left.I think this is a great scam GE and maybe others have going. Its entrapment. They get you to accept a repairman to come to your home and charge you nearly $100 for it, but give you a coupon for $100 for a new one but it has to be a GE and can only be bought from their website where they can go as high as $500 or $600. By the way, I got on the website to find a replacement. My model had been discontinued and the only one in my price range was also a discontinued model. They charge $75 to come out to install it and another $30 to take away your old one. I called local appliance stores to see if I could unload my old microwave for parts and they all said the same thing: stay away from GE products.
