I purchased a GE monogram microwave along with all the other brand new appliances when I remodeled my kitchen. Let me be clear when I say I will never buy another GE product again in my life. Not only is the product inferior but the customer service department is run by a group of very inept people that lack basic communication skills. The microwave I purchased needed two repairs within the first five years of purchase. I have a microwave in my office at work that I purchased over 10 years ago and Ive never had an issue with it. Needless to say, it isnt a GE product. Last April the microwave started acting up again and kept turning itself off. We didnt even bother calling GE because like everything else their repairmen are also incompetent. 1-800-Appliance came out and found that the magnetron needed to be replaced and we should just purchase a new appliance. Because our microwave had been installed in a custom made cabinet and the trim kit was still good, we made the mistake of purchasing the same exact microwave from GE for convenience. This was in April of 2014. Right now I am waiting for a GE repairman to come and take a look at it because it is already not working. This is after I spent an hour on the phone with consumer relations. I will never purchase a GE product again.

Its been more than 2 months that GE repair has been TRYING to repair my 4 month old dishwasher. 4 service calls, 3 wrongly ordered parts, GE blaming repair company, and repair CO. blaming GE. The repair company on their 4th visit told me wrong part again and that they refuse to come out anymore. They lost enough money already. When talking with GE consumer Dept. promises of a call back by a manager has been non existent, now they wont even return my call. I have a 5yr extended warranty on the dishwasher and I cant seem to get anywhere with the factory warranty. GE by far the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They were happy to take my money for 4 top of the line appliances, after that youre non existent to them. Its a shame that legal counsel is what seems my only avenue. Will never consider buying GE products ever again.

Microwave lasted 6 months, very light duty, burnt metal smell. Purchased from Walmart, they told us to contact GE. All GE could offer is a Good Will certificate which means, we have to go buy another GE microwave up to $155 in value. We pay taxes, shipping etc. Not really a customer-centric return policy for a lousy designed product made from cheap components in Asia. These microwaves are a piece of junk. This isnt the only complaint about this model of microwave. Others are experiencing the same problem all within the past 6 months. From March 2018 thru August. Stay away from these microwaves.

Microwave (over the stove model) is also supposed to be conventional oven, but does not do that well. Just use as microwave. As microwave, easy to use. Now 14 years old and still going strong, although a little dated in appearance. Grill cover looks like chrome, but made of plastic, and when I tried to remove it recently to change the filter, it broke and now has to be replaced. $180, but still cheaper than a new appliance. Wish we could get away from using plastic parts.

My 11-month-old GE Advantium oven no longer has any display, totally blank. When calling to make an appointment I was unable to speak to a live person but scheduled one for today from 1-5 pm. At 5 pm I received an automated call that the technician was running behind and would arrive in about an hour. By 8:30 pm no one called or came to repair my oven. At 4 pm when I was wondering if I would see a repairman I attempted to find on the internet a phone number that would connect me to a live person but had no luck. I have no idea what company is being sent out to make the repairs so that I can get in touch with them. Their service sucks.

Soon after getting our new Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM3SS the control panel died. I called GE and power cycling got it going again. This is an over the stove microwave, so we were also told by GE not to use the right front burner without the fan on boost. The problem persisted from time to time and steadily got worse over our 5 years of ownership. Reading the internet this was a common problem known to GE but they took no action to contact owners. The panel is now dead and my only option, having tried the fixes on Youtube, is to invest money starting at $108 for an inspection or buy a new Microwave. My entire experience with this product has been a big disappointment as I also own a GE Cafe range, fridge, and dishwasher.

After only 4 hours of installation, the microwave turned on and the fan and light came on. It was not cooking anything. Inside of microwave was hot and I could smell a burnt electronics smell. I unplugged it, waited a few minutes, and when I plugged it in, it started up again. The LCD screen was scrambled, all lit up. Opening the door stopped the unit, but it started again when I plugged it in.

I purchased the model (PEM31SM1SS) GE Profile (Spacesaver oven) in November
I purchased the model (PEM31SM1SS) GE Profile (Spacesaver oven) in November of 2008. Less than a year later, it overheated and failed. Since it was still under warranty, the repair was managed by the appliance vendor. The scorch mark on the rear wall of the oven was and is still there. During the past year, the paint on the interior roof began to bubble and peel. There is now a broad area of exposed metal and the paint around the interior door frame is also peeling. When I returned to my vendor, I was informed that several other customers had the same issue and was told to call GE. I also checked online and found many other complaints for the same thing. When contacted, GE offered me a $75 rebate voucher, applicable only if I buy another GE microwave. The current price for this model - the only one anywhere that fits the space - is $279. Even with the voucher, this is still a lot to pay for a product that has proved to be defective. GE does not appear to stand behind its products. It used to be a reliable company but given the issues Ive had with both this microwave and my expensive dishwasher, I will be looking elsewhere in the future.

We just had a Fire in our GE Microwave, Model # JVM1750SP1SS. Manufactured in August 2010. Purchased at Home Depot in December 2010 and installed January 2011. The right rear shelf hook caught fire while the microwave was in use. Luckily, we saw it in time... We are not sure who to complain to or tell about this. We went on GE.com to inform them of this issue and am waiting for a response. I see here that I am not alone. There is other info being shared on YouTube about this issue as well. GE better make good on this for me. Now I have to find my paperwork... Figure out who will remove this under cabinet installed oven and replace it. I am probably on my own here as it is 3 years old!!

I love the way the dishwasher is so quiet and cleans the dishes well. However, they are ALWAYS WET. A repairman came and told me that I could not expect the dishes to be dry on the light cycle with the POWER DRY. He told me I have to wash on the normal cycle. I did that and they are still wet. He came back out again and basically had no viable explanation. I have to have a dish towel in hand to dry the dishes as they come out of the dishwasher. I noticed that every now and then my dishwasher wasnt starting or running through a full cycle. I had called the GE repairman because my microwave was not heating up and asked him to take a look at my dishwasher as well. After hearing it was going to cost me $500.00 to fix my still under warranty microwave and the control board was no good and very expensive to replace because my one year warranty had past on my dishwasher, I will never invest in the money hog GE ever again! I purchased this dishwasher in Sept 2017. Today after normal use, the motor stopped and it leaked a full load of water into my basement. I called GE service and got no satisfaction. Its out of warranty after 12 months. I then called their customer care department who really dont care very much. They wanted a GE tech to look at the dishwasher for a fee of $109. Then they offered 50% discount on parts. In the past, GE was always a reliable brand but no longer. Stay away from their dishwashers and every other appliance they make. It is not the GE of old. I just purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher and hopefully, that will work better.

Slightly more than one year, I purchased a model GLD4404RCC dishwasher about which I have made complaints in the past, concerning poor washing performance and which you chose to ignore beyond attempting to tell me how to use it. Now, this Chinese-made piece of junk has begun to give different problems. Upon completion of the wash cycle, it starts to make a lot of noise and will not shut down. I must do this manually. Guess what? It has waited less than two weeks after the purchase date to do this, meaning it is out of warranty. We have just purchased a new home and will be needing new appliances such as dishwasher, refrigerator, washer and dryer, and a water heater. It will not be GE. I shall never purchase any more of GE products as the whole company stinks.

Two years ago, after owning a GE JVM1490 microwave-convection oven (over the stove) for three years, the door handle broke.Let me clarify that I worked for GE first as an engineer, later as manager, for 20 years including 6 in Major Appliances. I am ashamed of what I am reading how GE is treating customers today.I am perfectly capable of replacing the handle myself if I am provided the complete and correct assembly drawings and/or instructions. GE refused to provide me anything when I requested them. The scant drawings and instructions I found online are insufficient. As a matter of fact, the design is so poor that removing the internal bezel, which you must do to reach the handle fasteners, forces you to break the mounting tabs, requiring replacement of this part plus the handle. This was confirmed by the parts store I visited. However, even after removing the bezel, neither I nor another ex-GE appliance engineer could figure out the access to the fasteners. I have glued the handle three times using epoxy and Cyanoacrylate (super glue), but it has broken off a fourth time. I will figure out a way of fixing it before I pay GE close to $100 for both the handle and bezel. And if I replace the appliance, you can be sure it will not be GE.GE should be ashamed of the poor design and deplorable customer service they are giving now. How things have changed! My suggestion is that all with this problem post name and phone number of GE customer service personnel they spoke with.

This GE dishwasher is not designed to last. The exterior outlook is unfortunately poor. Ive had a GE Dishwasher for over 6 years and it works great. The issue is every 2 years or so, the plastic over the metal rods that make up the plate racks wear away and rust the underlying metal. The first time GE charged me about 200.00 for the racks, where the dishwasher only cost 250.00. The second time they replaced for free and now this third time, GE is being absolutely absurd not replacing these racks. My concern for mine is the health issues arising from having rusted parts in the washer. I believe this to be a manufacturers defect and could be happening in 1000s of these dishwashers. Metal should not go into water!!! GE should gladly replace my racks but theyre giving me a major problem, like take our offer or dont bother us. Please see the attached pictures and hopefully this doesnt happen to your dishwashers.

Wow, Donna from NJ, I could have written your dishwasher report! But since I didnt, I have never been so disappointed in an appliance purchase as my new GE dishwasher! Not only are some of the dishes & silverware coming out more dirty than they went in, it takes a ridiculously long time for a cycle. And if there are more than a couple of tablespoons of water on the door, it will pee out onto the floor when the door is closed! Not to mention that there is junk stuck to the floor just inside dishwasher, under the door, after the cycle has run! Yet the worst part is how dirty dishes are after even a Sani Wash cycle! Sometimes, the detergent lid is still closed. Sometimes its open, but the detergent is still there. Even then, dishes may be cleaner in appearance that time, than when the detergent is gone. A water glass, may have gritty stuff - not just detergent stuck and hiding down inside, or more obvious all over inside the glass. I have spent the past year experimenting with various things: detergents, amounts of detergents, arrangements of dishes, heat of water, pressure of water, rinsing dishes before cycle, etc. Glass and pottery normally fare better than plastics, but again the plastic may have started cleaner than they come out! The dealer has been out three times, finding nothing obvious the DW itself, nor anything I have done wrong. He has been told there is a kit that would fix the performance problem, but he cant purchase it, nor can his distributor. I have been told the length of cycle is because our government regulates the amount of water used. So my question is, then its okay to use more electricity?! Its totally embarrassing to serve someone a drink in a glass that is found not clean near the end of the drink! And I, too, have an old 12-years-dishwasher that still works! It was even a cheaper brand. I never had to think where pieces were arranged in that dishwasher. I just thought, in my newly built house, I should have new appliances!

GE microwaves are crap. In fact its not restricted to microwaves. Its their ENTIRE line of appliances. They team up with other grade e or f manufacturers for appliances (ie: LG, Samsung) and ANY GE appliance is almost guaranteed to fail prematurely. I see all these comments bucking Malaysia and in all reality the fact remains that Malaysia makes damn good stuff (think SONY). But it is the COMPANIES that build the products and how much theyre getting paid that factors quality. No doubt that GE is using the bottom dweller rejected off the assembly line parts to build their units. Most are Chinese garbage. China also builds some very reliable products but as the saying goes dumb American will buy anything. They save the best for them and sell us the crap.It is the lowest grade of those already should have been scrapped at the factory parts that GE passes off as quality and they do a good job at showing it. A cheap 30 dollar China made Emerson microwave made by Daewoo (Korean company that actually is decent) lasts longer and takes a hell of a beating compared to the overpriced rejected junk we call GE. The GE ac units are another classic example of pure garbage. Sadly the older GE works forever. That should sum it up. Why didnt the GE executives while visiting Thomas Edisons grave make every effort to step away from his grave and not stand upon it? Because Thomas Edison would pull them under.

Our brand new GE Profile dishwasher wasnt cleaning dishes (even after rinsing them before stacking them in the dishwasher). GE technician came several times and lectured me how I need to open hot water faucet before turning on the dishwasher, about how I should stack the dishes in the dishwasher, etc... all bogus talk. Our builder was kind enough to replace the dishwasher because he saw how frustrating it was to deal with GE service. The new GE Profile (i.e. replaced by builder) works without opening hot water faucet, or washing the dishes or stacking them in any particular manner. In summary, I wouldnt recommend GE Products because GE service is HORRIBLE and their products arent that great. I have GE Profile all over my kitchen. Ive been battling this dishwasher since it arrived 9 years-ago. It was a warranty replacement we were stuck with from GE. Plus, we paid $300. We could never get it to clean dishes, no matter how we loaded it or what we used, so we gave up and hand washed dishes for years. This year, I am committed to getting the dishwasher working because of hand eczema. I took it apart and cleaned the sprayer arms, filter & wiped it down completely. I also ran a dishwasher cleaner through it. I finally got it to clean dishes, but only if they are thoroughly rinsed first and on the Pots/Pans setting. After a month, it stopped cleaning my dishes again. I took apart the dishwasher again, and cleaned everything. Now, glasses on the upper rack in the back are not all getting clean. I never overload it. Im convinced that GE Dishwashers are just junk. Someday, Id love to find a dishwasher that actually works. :-( Frustrated!!!

Although the instructions state it can hold settings of 8, we have never been able to use more than 4 before it is packed. The utensil holders are almost useless. It has nice lighting for controls and a clean front. The installations instructions are not very good. They also did not include an elbow to connect to the water supply, which the hardware store manager said is standard connection, so GE just wanted to save $4.00 and piss off the customers instead.

GE Profile Microwave JVM1850DMCC - For the third time in 5.5 years, Ive experienced a magnetron failure in a GE Profile Microwave. The first failure was fixed under warranty. The second was so bad, the microwave had to be replaced, but it was no longer under warranty. I should have heeded the warning and gone to another brand, but on 12/31/10, I paid over $500 to replace the microwave with a new GE Profile to match the existing appliances. Apparently this was a big mistake as the magnetron has failed yet again. The microwave is on its own separate 20A circuit, so that shouldnt be an issue. It would seem, however, based on the number of complaints I see on this site, there is something inherently wrong with the manufacture of these microwaves, or more specifically the magnetrons. Im extremely disgusted at this point.

This week we noticed a small amount of water seeping from under the cabinet. We pulled the dishwasher out and saw a very slow leak from a part of the dishwasher. Called GE and was told it was no longer under warranty. Explained leak has had to have been going on for months so should fall under warranty. Was told because we didn’t notice probably would not be. GE GDF520PGDWW 24 white, full console dishwasher - Energy Star. I have had this dishwasher model since December 2014 and it has not drained consistently since the beginning either during the wash cycle or rinse cycle. GE has sent three different repair companies to replace the pump, the control panel, and ultimately the entire dishwasher, yet even the new dishwasher still does not drain consistently. Sometimes it drains and sometimes it doesnt. The GE-certified repairman was again here this morning and is again ordering a new pump. Counting the original pump, the previously replaced pump and the pump in the new unit, this would be the fourth pump. I tried to suggest the problem may not be the pump, but the repairman could not think of another possible issue. I do not recommend purchasing this dishwasher.

Our GE Microwave Oven/Convection Oven Combo (Model: PT970SRSS) is a little over 2 years old. The interior paint on the ceiling of the microwave oven is chipping and bare metal is exposed. In addition, the microwaves glass turntable frequently slips off its plastic tripod base. Circular scratch marks, which also expose the underlying metal are evident in the area which is located directly below the glass turntable. The circular scratches are a direct result of the glass turntable scraping against the paint. The GE repairman said chipped paint is not repairable and that paint should not ever chip in a microwave, let alone a relatively new microwave. After many calls back and forth to the GE Consumer Relations person, we were offered a new combo at a discounted rate of approximately $1,000. (We paid around $2,000 originally.) Im not satisfied with this offer. I strongly feel that consumers should NOT have to pay to replace a defective item. GE needs to pull these defective and dangerous products off the market! Our GE microwave just stopped working after 3 or 4 years. It was manufactured 4 years ago, but I am not exactly sure when we purchased and installed it... It may have sat on the shelf for a year. It is not the touch panel, the lights, timer, clock... They all work. In fact, I can put in a time to cook and push START and the timer will start counting down as if the microwave is cooking, but it is totally silent, no turntable, no noise, no nothing. The new replacement model number is the JVM6175 but I am scared to buy it, as I am so disappointed in GE. All the washers, dryers, microwaves, and refrigerators we have bought over the last 30 years have only lasted 3 to 7 years. The only appliance by GE we have purchased that seems to be still working is the dishwasher. We only used this microwave to heat up coffee or some leftovers. It is not being used to cook big meals or anything like that. GE has just gone downhill, it appears. I think I will just give up on them totally.

JVM6175SFSS - I purchased this over the stove Micro in July 2014. When I cooked a potato or frozen meal it would sound like it was going to explode. Condensation drips down behind my stove and the window and door to it get all steamed up. The fan clears the door & window but is very loud and intrusive even on low. Besides that I have never needed to use a fan when I use the microwave. GE repair came and said there was nothing wrong with it. But after thinking about it, came back the next day and took it apart. The tech called GE engineers and described to their amazement the way the inside was made. They said no way. So the tech took pictures and emailed them to GE. They reviewed it and said thats the way it is. I wouldnt stand for that and called them again and told them that the bottom of the micro gets scalding hot. At that they changed it out.... for another one with the same problem. The wall behind the stove is getting ruined from vapor dripping and all the same problems exist. They will be coming again and I am going to insist they take back their junker and let me buy a safe microwave of another brand even though my other appliances match. GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 year
GE Cafe Dishwasher Model CDW9380N00SS - The dishwasher is just under 5 years old and is used approximately once daily for lightly soiled dishes, usually only half full since there’s only 2 of us in the house. On 12/28/2012, I ran the dishwasher on a normal cycle, no additional heat or heated drying and the cycle finished about 9pm. I did not open or unload the unit and went to bed. About midnight my wife smelled smoke and woke me up. We ran downstairs to find the dishwasher blazing hot and the smell of burning plastic coming from the dishwasher. I killed the circuit breaker and opened the dishwasher door. The whole first floor of the house smelled liked burned plastic and we had to open all the windows and doors in 28 degree winter weather to vent the smell. The bottom heating element had come on and stayed on! The entire bottom of the flatware basket was melted out and all the forks, knives and spoons were in the melted plastic goo in the bottom of the dishwasher. The wheels melted off the bottom wash rack and the lower wash arm melted and burned. Also, the plastic screen in the bottom of the dishwasher is twisted and distorted. Some dishwasher safe items like the glass coffee maker carafe with the plastic handle and rim are unusable since the high heat distorted the plastic parts. They were on the top rack. We feel fortunate that first, my wife smelled it and woke up. Second, the dishwasher tub is stainless steel and so it contained the heat and lastly, that our counter tops are granite since directly above the dishwasher, the counter was hot enough that you could not hold your hand on it comfortably. GE is coming today to evaluate the dishwasher and determine what, if anything, they will do. It is not under warranty, but as I told GE, it’s a safety concern. We dont want it fixed, we want a new one. Nobody expects a 4-5 year old top of the line dishwasher from a company like GE to be a fire hazard in their home. This dishwasher cost over $1,100.00 in 2008. My questions: why would the heat element come on at all given the settings? Second, why did it come on after the cycle ended and the indicator lights said clean? Third, why isnt there a high heat shut off switch that would have killed the power in a circumstance like this? And fourth, since I see other consumers with Cafe Dishwashers have had similar concerns, why isnt there a recall on this model? There are recalls on many other models it seems for heating element malfunctions. I believe that any action other than replacement, even after the warranty period, is irresponsible on the part of GE, but the cost of law suits and settlements maybe less than the cost of replacements or recalls. What of the potential cost of lost lives?

We bought our home 4 years ago. After 2 years and 8 months the bottom of the door cracked and a piece fell off, then the door wouldnt close. We were past the warranty so we bought a new one since it would be cheaper to replace it than repair it. We didnt complain because we thought it was put in incorrectly by the builder. The new one was installed correctly this time. After 1 year and 8 months the door is doing the same thing. I contacted GE and they said there is no manufacture defects. Because we didnt purchase the extra warranty it would cost us $90 to have someone come out and look at it. We only paid $179 for the microwave. It is a huge problem for us! We will not buy another GE product. Mostly because the customer service isnt willing to help at all. They just transfer you to different departments who all tell you the same thing. Very disappointed in GE.

If you plan to use your dishes for food or drink or if your pets eat food from bowls, dont buy a GE dishwasher if you expect items to get clean. Seems entirely incapable of producing grit-free clean dishes. Is particularly noticeable on the glasses. And I clean the filters all the time (manual recommends periodically) and I am taking a break from cleaning said filters to tell the world that GE Dishwashers are junk.

GE Stainless Steel Profile Dishwasher - My dishwasher is about 5 years old.
GE Stainless Steel Profile Dishwasher - My dishwasher is about 5 years old. Two years ago, we noticed that the gaskets, both around the tub and on the bottom of the door, were becoming gummy and rippling. We were hoping to make it another couple of years before buying a new dishwasher, but a couple of week ago, the top arm fell off because the gasket was so degraded. We ordered the appropriate parts and were only able to replace the top-arm gasket and the tub gasket. We had to call an authorized GE repairman, specifically RC Appliance in Sparks, NV. When he tried to get the gasket out, his hands turned black from the rubber. After about an hour of trying to get the new gasket installed, he had to use his pliers to crimp the gasket in place leaving large dents along the bottom edge of the door. He said the factory had crimped the old gasket in place at the factory from the other side. I am extremely unhappy about the workmanship and the fact that the gaskets did not last a reasonable time. I dont want to seek an attorney, but would rather GE contact me to discuss what must be done.

We had a GE microwave that my parents got when I was in elementary school that lasted us through graduation (when I got it), and it then lasted me another 6 or 7 years after that. It was a great microwave, so we went with GE for our next one. What a mistake that was. The new one died completely less than a year after we got it (less than a year after its manufacture date at that!). The one after, one of the same make and model, lasted 3 years to the month after its manufacture date. Sorry GE, but I just do not have any interest in spending so much for so short a lifespan on your products, and its a damn shame that your quality has suffered so badly that you have lost a once-loyal customer of your brand.

There was a recall on my fairly new dishwasher. The heater was causing fires. The repairman came and said I had to remove my ceramic tiles in front of the dishwasher for him to pull it out. I called customer service and a Tina offered to reimburse me $200 to have someone remove the tiles and pull the dishwasher out. I paid a handyman $250 in cash to have it done, called GE and they sent a man to fix it. I called again for my $200 and explained their man fixed it. They now wanted a bill from my floor man. I sent the bill and they refused to pay because the bill did not say paid. I called and asked them how their repair person could have fixed it if the floor had not have the tile removed and the dishwasher pulled out for him. I said, Ask your repair person to verify that the tile was removed. The answer was they couldnt ask him. I sent the bill again with a note saying paid in cash, a picture of the floor and a picture of me - a 74-year-old woman with a note saying it was impossible for me to have ripped up the ceramic tile and backer board myself. Again, I got a reply that the receipt that I sent was not acceptable and the case was closed.

The microwave (JVM1860WF001) came with the new home. It quit working. It still turns on, but does not heat. After reading all the complaints, I will not go to the expense of fixing this microwave. I will buy another brand. Goodbye GE. It appears by the other complaints, that GE does not care.

We bought a new house with GE microwave, oven and dishwasher. Our fridge doesnt give any water anymore and our touch screen microwave stopped responding to any touch. When I called customer service to come see, they want to charge $80 just to tell you whats the problem. GE has the worst appliances. I will not recommend it. I will go with Whirlpool brand.

GE Cafe microwave and GE Oven. Caution before you buy GE. Both appliances needed service 1 month after purchase. Had service come to my home 5 times. Had to wait up to four hours for service person each time. Also, parts were on back order. Had to wait weeks for parts to arrive. Keep in mind these are BRAND new GE top of line appliances. And no parts to fix them. Service is terrible. GE not the same company as years past. I would NEVER EVER buy this brand again. What a hassle. Still waiting for parts. My dealer even called to help and GE would not even help the dealer expedite the problem. Total lack of good customer service when you have a problem.

After many searches trying to do due diligence, we bought a GE dishwasher online Nov 2014. It was delivered and installed two weeks later. The day (Saturday) after delivery we loaded it and started the cycle; water went in, the circulation pump started and then the machine stalled. The machine was reset pumped out, restarted but no further improvement.Called the GE service number and after a 20 minute wait was informed that a request would be placed to a local service company. Monday the local service company (30 miles away) called to inform us they had to reject the service request and that GE would set up another. Three days later GE was called again. They were unaware that the service request was rejected so had not attempted to find someone else. They could not get another company to respond and told us to arrange the service call ourselves, pay the bill and submit it to them.My wife and I are now wanting to return the machine but were informed we would have to go through the local Home Depot. They informed us that we would need to have GE arrange it. GE was called back and informed us that the dishwasher could not be returned as long as it could be repaired which leaves it to their discretion. The process to arrange these things took a long time, many delays and many phone calls back and forth to Home Depot and GE. The calls to GE often took 15 minutes to get someone who would forward the call to the service rep which placed back in another 15 minute queue. Do not believe that Home Depot will take returns. The advertising makes you believe they will take but they do not without GEs RGA which GE is reluctant to provide. Avoid GE. I am not the first to find out that GE warranty (one year) and service is poor and that they are more than willing to wait out the warranty to leave their customers with a possible lemon. Other dishwashers are available with 5 year warranties.

Purchased a GE over-the-range microwave worth about $400. About 2/1/2 yrs in it stopped working. Had a GE repairman come out to fix it. They charge $95 just to come out. I complained so they gave me 50% off parts and labor after the initial investment. It took him about ten minutes to pull out the defective part, a $10 thermostat which he replaced. Total cost: $162. Ive had GE products for years but the new ones are much more cheaply made IMHO. Made in Malaysia. In addition, the handle is breaking off as are plastic parts coming of the top of it. I guess Ill consider getting extended warranties from now on because these products are cheap. If Id had it longer, Id have bought a new one instead of fixing it.

My GE microwave also has paint peeling off the top inside and bottom with rust as well. And cannot be repaired but not one person has said they were sorry or even owned up that it is a fault in paint. This is disgusting to think about this stuff falling into your food!!! This is not safe at all and 10% off new unit is not nearly enough considering they are up to $3000.00 now for microwave/oven unit.GE does not stand behind their products and it shows!!!!

We built a new home and selected the GE appliances including dishwasher, fridge and microwave thinking they were good brand. NOT. Fridge fan replaced twice, dishwasher 6 issues already, replace seals twice, entire door changed, no water, not working inside, internal latch wont release the soap and now, no water again. Just waiting for the microwave to stop working. Their appliance are terrible, built with poor quality and all are lemons. Im calling tomorrow to get my dishwasher replaced after 6 repairs in a year. I would not recommend to anyone to purchase GE appliance, worst ever. Now, Im worried they will say Im out of warranty since its now past the 1-year, but the problems under warranty have never been fixed. One fix causes another. I have documents to show my purchase in my new homeowner file.

According to the label in my GE Sensor microwave oven, it was manufactured in October 2010. I dont know how long after that time I purchased it. The paint on the ceiling is falling off and what hasnt fallen off is bubbling up over the entire surface, exposing bare metal. There is also missing paint on the floor of the oven. I called GE today and was told by a representative that it is a fire hazard and I should stop using it. She said I must have used a harsh chemical, but I have used nothing but dish detergent and water on paper towels. There should be a recall of these ovens, and GE needs to improve the quality of the paint. The microwave is not that old, and this should not have happened!

I bought a Moffat washer and dryer, and the timer came out of place and burnt on the inside. The timer clips in and if push too hard it will fall out or break the clip. We have extended warranty on it and due the repairman came out twice. The warranty person said it cost more for the repairman than the dryer worth - theres no more warranty. I think the dryer should replace when the timer fell out of place. This dryer should be called back.

The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something
The GE microwave oven that was installed by the owners of my 130-something unit apartment complex caught fire in June 2014. The manufacture date is listed as December 2012. I moved into the unit in June 2013 and the microwave was brand new still and had never been used by anyone else. I myself rarely use the microwave and only use it for heating up cold food that I previously cooked on the stove top. After heating up rice using the 2 minute express option and removing the food from the microwave, I had gone to the restroom for 30 seconds only to return and find the microwave on fire. The fire ignited from the ceiling of the microwave. I had initially intended on going to the bathroom to take a shower but needed to open a new bar of soap, so I had only returned to the kitchen to throw the soap packaging in the trash. Had I not done the latter, my entire apartment could have caught fire and it would have been difficult if not impossible for me to escape from my third floor apartment. Reading all of these complaints it is really hard to believe that a government agency has not stepped in and forced GE to STOP MAKING MICROWAVES! From the complaints on this board it is clear to see that every year GE continues to make appliances that put consumers safety and lives at risk. You would think that after so many recalls that they would have perfected their product by now, but that is not the case. It almost seems as though they are just slapping new model and serial numbers on the same BAD product. The management in my building contacted GE and my microwave was replaced with another GE microwave manufactured in 2014. I did not want another GE microwave, but I only rent so I didnt have a choice. I used the microwave once so far and the fan automatically came on after 2 minutes of use. It does state inside the microwave that the fan may come on automatically, but I just dont trust this brand anymore. I have a countertop microwave that works perfectly fine that Ive owned for over 15 years that I will be using. I will unplug the GE microwave and just keep it for aesthetic purposes, since thats all its good for.

I have a 3 and a half year old GE Cafe Dishwasher which I paid over $1400 for and yesterday, when I ran it, I had a couple of cups melted when I opened it. This morning, I opened it to remove the remaining dishes. I closed the door to it and left for work. I did not run it again, just emptied it. My husband came home about an hour after I left to a house filled with smoke and the smell of melted plastic. He opened the dishwasher and found everything inside melted. The spinners, the silverware holder and all the plastic rack dividers were totally melted.Apparently, the heating element stuck on and overheated it. If he hadnt come home when he did, I believe our home would have caught fire. He said the whole kitchen was much hotter than the rest of the house. The service repair man said it cant be fixed because it got so hot it melted the seals in the motor. It was not a wiring problem with the house. It was a problem with the dishwasher itself. So now, I am out $1400 plus a house full of very toxic smelling smoke.

I bought this over the range microwave in 2009 to go with my other Cafe app
I bought this over the range microwave in 2009 to go with my other Cafe appliances (dishwasher and range). After a few months, it stopped working and ge sent a repairman to fix it under warranty. He took it apart, replaced the touchpad panel, but told me that the old panel was still good and that I could keep it for the future in case I needed it. And I did. It stopped working a year ago. I took the whole machine apart, put in the original touchpad, and it worked. Until about a week ago. I went away on the Fourth, and when I returned 3 days later, I had the same problem for the third time. I just called ge service and was told that the replacement for the touchpad is $600. When I started to say that I could buy two Microwaves for that amount, the ge service person cut me off and asked if she could help me with anything else. Rude. In addition to this, the Cafe Range ($3000) has three unusable knobs because they were made of cheap PLASTIC and are cracked. They just spin and turn nothing on. When the third one broke, my wife had turned on the power boil and was unable to turn it off until I came home 2 hrs later. A huge FIRE HAZARD!! To replace the six knobs is, you guessed it, $300. I could buy an inexpensive stove for that. I have purposely used ge in lower letters because that is the way I feel about their appliances and their service.

So I was forewarned by my family of nightmare experiences they had with GE appliances over the course of the last 50 years of our family. I just bought a home with 2 GE dishwashers that are both under 5 years old, and both are malfunctioning terribly. The one has leaked from the bottom and created severe water damage, and the other will not drain. Just an affirmation of the bad experiences my family has had in the past. Cheaply made, and often the go to appliances installed in manufactured and new homes. Had a service technician come out after speaking with GE on the phone and they assured me it was cost free. After the technician came out and told me I was being billed $105 for the call, and it would cost an additional $255 to fix the washing machine. The tech was not very friendly or helpful, and his only concern was collecting the bill. Avoid these products!

Five years ago I purchased a brand-new condo w/ a GE Nautilus dishwasher installed. This machine has NEVER worked right. Issues: 1. The detergent cup that closes, consistently gets stuck shut, hence only half of the detergent gets dispensed and a second cycle is usually needed to get the dishes cleaner. 2. Dishes are never really clean. Theres always at least one dish that has something left over on it, but its usually multiple dishes. 3. Lower rack started rusting out after 3 years of very light use (used approx 3-4 times a month). Loud. Louder than my washing machine. 4. Replacement parts are ridiculously expensive. A new lower rack is approx $100. My condo also came with a GE refrigerator. It too is junk. Never again...

When we bought our house we upgraded our GE appliances to stainless steel.
When we bought our house we upgraded our GE appliances to stainless steel. I had no problems with the dishwasher until a few days ago. Then it stopped working completely. As with most of the complaints I have read the control panel was not working. We took the front door apart just to see if the dishwasher was worth salvaging or should we buy a new one. A screw was NEVER installed on the vent assembly to hold it in place. The entire inside if the door was corroded by steam and/or water. So every wash slowly degrading the electronics. 18 months, 6 months past its warranty where now its out of their hands and you can pay $89 to have someone just look at it. We were lucky it just broke because this hidden mistake on their part could have not only caused a short circuit but a fire. Like so many of the other stories. I will not buy GE again.
