Our builder installed our GE microwave Model: JVM7195SF1SS as part of our kitchen appliances. It worked fine for about 3 1/2 years. Then it stopped heating. It turns on and appears to work, but after inserting a cup of cold water and running it on high 10 minutes, we remove cold water. I looked into this and found that the magnetron (spelling?) tends to fail. Apparently, its a known issue, based on the reviews. GE wont allow consumers to replace this and doesnt provide replacement parts. Getting it professionally repaired will cost more than the microwave is worth. GE sent me a certificate for $150 to replace it, but it will cost at least twice that to purchase a new unit and get it installed. Plus, we have to buy another GE. I dont want to end up in the same situation. So we didnt use the certificate.

We remodeled our kitchen and bought full line of GE café appliances which we have not been happy. Microwave screen cracked in the first three months; refrigerator is at max cooling but still does not cool or freeze enough; dishwasher has never cleaned well and marks my dishes with gray streaks and its control panel quit working and had to be replaced. They said that it was my soap, water etc., even though it never happened with previous dishwasher. All this in the first ten months of ownership of a couple with no family at home. Servicemen were nice and polite but their products are crummy. Dont buy them.

I wish I had seen this site first. I purchased a dishwasher. It didnt even make it 6 months. Took a month to fix and then 3 months later broke right before Thanksgiving. It is now Friday before Christmas still not fixed. GE is closed. The repairman and GE both lie and said it would be fixed before Christmas. Do not purchase anything GE. They do not stand behind their products. The products are poorly made and dont last. Ive had several dishwashers over the years. This is the first GE and it will be the last. You will have to wait over an hour for on hold to reach anyone and even then they just dont care. Save your money. Buy a didnt brand.

I purchased this GE dishwasher May 2015 through Amazon. Immediately after installation I was having trouble where it kept beeping when I went to wash dishes. A repairman came out and said there was a recall on the control panel and he replaced - no charge. In July 2017 this dishwasher flooded onto my laminate floor. I found it in the morning when I woke up. An appliance repairman came out. Did not know why it flooded. No charge this time, but he made a few adjustments and it seemed fine. Then the bottom sprayer arm broke. The heat shields fell off and the arm melted. I had that replaced. Then the washer would not dry - no matter what I did. Repairman came out. He did not have access to the GE computer program but made some suggestions. No charge. Dishwasher seemed to dry better for two weeks. Then in August it flooded again. A repairman came out. Ran the dishwasher, but it did not flood, so he did not know what the problem was. This time charged me $60 and said call if it floods again. Obviously I am afraid to run the dishwasher at night or when I am away in case it floods again. Plus the dishwasher is not drying completely.I have contacted GE. Their response is: Normally we dont do this because your warranty has expired already; however, I have a bit of a soft spot and think some extra consideration is due. I did a lot of research and came up with a couple options to help you out: I realize this is not ideal but we can extend to you our discount into any new model if you find its not cost effective to repair. I found the 2017 comparable model for you. Really??? I dont want another GE. I want a refund as this is a piece of junk. Plus this kind person said it would only cost me $484 and I will have another warranty.

I purchased the GE Cafe dishwasher in March 2010. Starting in January 2012, some of the keypad options stopped working. Then in April 2012, the keypad stopped working completely and I could no longer get it to turn on. I did call GE for repair. When the repair person was out to fix it, they said that this model has a design flaw. It was originally designed to sit 1 below the countertop so that the heat could release without shorting out the keypad. However, that would require a person to somehow raise their entire counter or fit the dishwasher below the floor somehow. GE was aware of the problem but decided to ignore the problem. That means that even though my keypad was replaced, the same problem will occur again and again no matter how many times the keypad is replaced. I paid over $1400 for this model, and the labor charges alone cost me $200 for the repair. I think it is absolutely despicable that such a large company has allowed a high-priced, defective product to go out into the market, knowing that a major malfunction will occur out of warranty in such a short period of time.

From these posts, Ive seen people saying that they couldnt trust GE American-made anymore. Our microwave oven was made in Malaysia, but GEs home office appears to be in Louisville, Kentucky. Our problem: peeling paint on the door and upper part of our 2009 GE #JES1451DN1WW oven. As a cancer survivor of 8 years, my antenna goes up with any defaults such as this. On a common sense scale this should never be happening. I was very sad to see no recalls on these items Ive been reading about and am frankly scared to use this microwave. Shame on you, GE.

My husband and I replaced all the appliances in our new home 4 years ago with GE Profile double oven, cooktop and built in microwave. All the appliances are of poor quality and do not cook the way we are accustomed to. But the microwave has had a particularly bad history. Within one year, it completely quit working and we had to replace several fuses and a board. Over the past couple of months, the keypad continually quits working and we have to climb up on a stool, unplug the microwave to reset it. Only then will it work for us to heat something. However, the keypad does not accurately reflect the task we are trying to use. I have had many microwaves over the years and I have NEVER had to repair one before. This particular brand of microwave was produced in Malaysia in July 2008. Very, very poor quality. No resolve from GE or from Sears where we bought it. I am done with GE and with SEARS.

The last apartment I was in had a comparably sized dishwasher that had too many shelving elements that got in the way of being able to just shove some dishes in there. We purchased a new home with a GE Profile dishwasher installed. Since the day we had it, we have never been satisfied with the cleanliness of the dishes. They frequently come out covered in food and must be rewashed. We now routinely prewash everything in the sink and we always use the cookware setting to wash everything. Despite this, we still have to re-run loads because they are not clean.I am convinced that there is a design error with our dishwasher, because the top dish shelf obstructs the door of the soap compartment and prevents it from fully opening. After a load has run, you can still see leftover soap dried and crusted in the soap container. If the dishwasher cannot even wash the soap out of the soap compartment, no wonder our dishes are not clean.

Bought model DDT575SMFES less than a month ago (along with a new microwave, stove and fridge) from the Home Depot. When the appliances were delivered the stove had some flaws in it so it had to be replaced. The dishwasher is a whole other story. It worked fine for a week but now it takes forever to get it to turn on. We try and try but it just beeps and the light flashes. Once we do get it turned on to stops before completing the cycle. If it does run a full cycle the soap dispenser does not dispense the soap. I wish I would have looked at this site before purchasing these GE appliances. Total junk and will NEVER buy anything GE again if I can help it. No responses back from GE and from what I read dont expect much from them. Now we will not be able to match the Slate with another brand and are stuck here.

I know this commonplace complaint, like thousands before me, will head straight into the wind because the world just works in this way: technical support and repairs works as a profit center for a corporation. My GE Profile microwave abruptly failed out of warranty after years of use. The cause was due to a wire burning up inside that had not been loosely connected, said the GE technician, so this was an issue of inadequate quality--not bad enough to cause the microwave to fail quickly but enough to cause failure over time. After taking the microwave out of the built-in cabinet, it only took the technician about 5-8 seconds to find and diagnose the problem, several minutes to get the right part (a wire) from the truck, and a couple of minutes to fix it. The labor charge was $121 for about 7 minutes of repair work, to be liberal with time. (This charge is separate from the charge to come to our home and diagnose the problem.) This prorates to over $1,000/hour for a basic wiring change, which I think is exorbitant. I understand that the technician is a highly trained individual, but this is already reflected in the high labor rate.According to GE, the cost to replace the built-in microwave, which came with a matching stainless steel frame would be $550 if we wanted the new microwave to match the frame at least (but not necessarily the oven, stove, etc.). This is the kind of cost you dont think about when you buy a new home built with matching appliances--well, I didnt. Companies like GE can rationalize all they want about all the overhead associated with servicing a repair call. I can certainly grant them some leeway, but in the end, charging an extra 8 times more an already high labor rate given the time needed to fix the problem is simply price gouging a consumer who has no good recourse. (This is why I pretty much avoid repairing anything, except for my car. Its almost never worth it.)I recently had an experience with an experienced plumber charging an hourly rate of $150, prorated by and rounded up to half-hour increments of work, regardless of difficulty of work. Repairing an appliance should work the same way, and my GE bill would have been halved. Because of such profiteering, I will not consider purchasing a GE appliance in the future. I pray that this microwave doesnt break down again in the coming years due to some other problem. It would be a lot less expensive to just buy a non-matching portable microwave then for $100-$150 than to keep up appearances. To be fair, the woman who fielded my service call was courteous and empathetic. Because the microwave apparently had an electrical burning problem, she previously waived the diagnosis fee. Otherwise, my simple repair would have run several hundred dollars, more than the cost of the microwave. However, she was unwilling to reduce the labor charge, so based on how strongly I felt ripped off, I give GE a star rating overall.

I called 1800GECARES and they said you either need to have a tech come out or we can replace it. In 2008, after waiting 30 years, we remodeled our kitchen using both a GE Range & GE OTR Microwave, model # JVM1850. Last week, it started making a loud noise when started and wont heat. From reading online it sounds like the magnetron went. Everything else, fan, turntable, lights inside and outside work, but wont heat. I called in for service to find that it would cost $89.95 to have them come out to diagnose it. Also read that a magnatron is between $150 - $200, and used to be warranted for 5 yrs. New GE microwaves only carry a 1 year total warranty. So they know they are supplying junk to us. Had to just bite the bullet and replace it. People cant afford for appliances to only last this long, at the price they are charging. I am not only upset at having to spend another $450 only 6 1/2 years later to replace a microwave that was lightly used, but GE has chosen to change the look as well, so it no longer will match the range it sits above. When I was remodeling, I read so much about matching appliances... not matched anymore. Totally disgusted.

I bought a brand new house and it came with the set of GE profile appliances in 10/2009. In November of this year, it came on for one minute on its own and then popped and indicated a circuit board failure. The inside of the microwave was extremely hot and there was obviously an electrical short. This could have burned down my house! My fiance replaced the circuit board at a cost of $125. I negotiated from the service department that supplied all my builders appliances. This week it happened again. This time, there was a cup of coffee in the microwave and it boiled in the minute before the microwave fried itself! I cant believe that GE still has this product on the market! Since then, we have been basically rinsing the dishes clean before even putting them into the dishwasher as, obviously, this dishwasher cant handle much. I have also been keeping the drain filter screen spotless. Two months later, the drain is clogged again. GE sent a second tech out who said that the first tech should have repaired the dishwasher. The problem is that GE knows that the drain pump screen and the filter screens are inadequate and let food to pass through and block the pump. GE has redesigned the pump and the screens and filters and even added a filter to the design and we will get all these new parts installed for free and the dishwasher will then work as it should. Tech ordered the parts on 12/21. The service call was scheduled for tomorrow, 12/27. I got a call today from GE saying the parts had not been delivered. I know this because they are being shipped to my house and they have not arrived. GE called to reschedule the service call to January 6th, 2020--another week and a half away!!!! Clearly, this dishwasher is not working as it should and GE has a problem on their hands. I am now weighing my options as I sit on hold on GEs Customer Service line as I wait for someone to complain to. But as the dishwasher is still only a few months old, I am tempted to load it up and bring it back to the big box retailer from whom I purchased it and demand a refund. This is ridiculous!!!!

Paint is peeling on the top part of the oven. It could fall into food. This seems to be a common problem. Called GE. They said it could not be repaired and to stop using it. Buy a new one. What kind of product do they put out that cannot be repaired? Not very good in my estimation. Customer Service did not offer much assistance to replace it. Be warned. Don’t buy GE products.

My life partner/bf moved into a semi flipped 10 yr old home. Every single appliance required to be replaced, everything from refrigerator, stove/oven, to dishwasher. We researched every appliance we purchased, a lot of time and effort along with reviews from various reputable reviewers, pointed us to the GE GDT DISHWASHER. Who can go wrong with three tier washing amongst jetted water bottle washers? After a 1 1/2 yrs in the top spinner completely separated from its housing. We googled the problem, GE said it was a faulty design, yet no recall. The door lock began to fail, googled the repair fix, another fault design, yet again no recall. Upper plastic door trim broke in half, solution, replace the entire console. Guess what? My solution here on out is to not buy GE products. If two years is all you get with a GE product, I am out! Done with your products that once lasted 10 to 15 years. The fact that have to research another DISHWASHER, absolutely pisses me off. I dare you GE to win me back!

Excellent. The dishwasher cleans dirty dishes and dries them as I expect. We use all the features periodically, usually the RINSE & Normal wash daily. We rarely use the China setting, but we do use the pots and pans and hygienic features as well. We also occasionally use the delayed start feature. Our dishwasher is a decent size four our family for daily use and for large get-togethers. Our house came with a WHITE dishwasher, which were not totally fond of as a personal preference, BUT, its LOOK and design are fine by our standards. We have had a problem with the door catching on the screw that holds the dishwasher in the cabinet. Seems like a simple fix, but it hasnt been. Id like to see that problem go away for any dishwasher installation.

GE Profile Microwave wall oven combo model PT970SOM1SS - We have a few years old unit very gently used. However, we now have the paint peeling and flaking from the top and back interior wall of the microwave. Some spots have bare metal exposed. Contacted GE and they told me there was no fix for it other than replacing the device. Now they cannot replace the Microwave alone. The whole unit has to be replaced at a cost of ~ $2800.00. This is ridiculous. There should be a recall as there are several other complaints about similar issues.

Wow, Donna from NJ, I could have written your dishwasher report! But since
Wow, Donna from NJ, I could have written your dishwasher report! But since I didnt, I have never been so disappointed in an appliance purchase as my new GE dishwasher! Not only are some of the dishes & silverware coming out more dirty than they went in, it takes a ridiculously long time for a cycle. And if there are more than a couple of tablespoons of water on the door, it will pee out onto the floor when the door is closed! Not to mention that there is junk stuck to the floor just inside dishwasher, under the door, after the cycle has run! Yet the worst part is how dirty dishes are after even a Sani Wash cycle! Sometimes, the detergent lid is still closed. Sometimes its open, but the detergent is still there. Even then, dishes may be cleaner in appearance that time, than when the detergent is gone. A water glass, may have gritty stuff - not just detergent stuck and hiding down inside, or more obvious all over inside the glass. I have spent the past year experimenting with various things: detergents, amounts of detergents, arrangements of dishes, heat of water, pressure of water, rinsing dishes before cycle, etc. Glass and pottery normally fare better than plastics, but again the plastic may have started cleaner than they come out! The dealer has been out three times, finding nothing obvious the DW itself, nor anything I have done wrong. He has been told there is a kit that would fix the performance problem, but he cant purchase it, nor can his distributor. I have been told the length of cycle is because our government regulates the amount of water used. So my question is, then its okay to use more electricity?! Its totally embarrassing to serve someone a drink in a glass that is found not clean near the end of the drink! And I, too, have an old 12-years-dishwasher that still works! It was even a cheaper brand. I never had to think where pieces were arranged in that dishwasher. I just thought, in my newly built house, I should have new appliances!

GE had recalls on models 8500 and 8700 due to the motor catching fire but not my 8600 which is right in between. So besides it being the worst working dishwasher weve owned by not even cleaning well, the unit catches fire and almost burns my house down and GE wants to give me a credit toward buying another fire trap as opposed to replacing it because its 5 years old. I expect appliances to last more than 5 years and not catch on fire. No more GEs for me!

My husband and I enjoyed our 1980s White GE Microwave and Stove/oven. But, after 15-20 years with the same appliances, we finally saved up for upgrades and purchased a new Stainless Steel (mid-range priced) GE Microwave and stove/Oven. I cannot begin to describe our disappointment. The Microwave is above our Stove/oven. Our old microwave had two powerful lights underneath it - one on each side. This microwave provides one small, weak light that does no good any time of day. Why would GE go from two great lights to one middle useless one? Also, the faint white numbers on the front keypad of the microwave are barely visible during the day - forget about seeing this when the light is not perfect. I foolishly assumed these numbers would be backlit on a black background. Onto the Stove/oven. The temperature is not accurate but that is something we can deal with. After the oven is pre-heated, the assigned temperature stays on the display pad - NOT the actual time. Who cares about the temperature you set the oven to - dont we all need to know when to check or take out our food? Our last oven always showed the time. We did not join the Stainless Steel bandwagon 10-15 years ago when others did - which we thought would be good for GE to get some kinks out. I Guess we should have waited 10 more. Proper lighting on your Microwave and The time on your stove/oven while cooking are not too much to ask for when we just dropped at least 2-thousand dollars!!!!!

The GE MICROWAVE MODEL JVM6175EF1ES was manufactured in August 2015. I purchased it in November of 2015, brand new from Home Depot. It was not installed until April 2016. So less than 2 years after installation it malfunctioned. (The unit brand new only has a 1 year warranty). The parts the tech replaced have a 5 year warranty. That demonstrates to me that GE does not have a lot of faith in their appliances. Aside from that I paid $375 for the repair, thats almost the price of a new microwave. But I paid since it made more sense to have a 5 year warranty on the parts instead of a 1 year with a brand new unit. I WILL NOT be buying GE products in the future due to this product defect.

Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or oth
Hello to all reading this and considering purchasing a GE dishwasher or other appliance from them. Last June 27th we bought a new home which came with all GE appliances. In fact I have 2 of these dishwashers. Once in the basement (just for low usage) and another one in the kitchen. The first day the dishwasher in the kitchen did not work and they came out and replaced it. I have had 3 other service calls on this thing and now it does not clean. Six days before Thanksgiving. I called and the lady told me no service until November 30th is available. It does not work, the first time they came out it was for a leak, second time the pump was not working and the dishwasher was not draining and now it is not cleaning. It was almost as it was my fault. It is a dishwasher - you put the dishes in and then turn it on and they should come out clean. I should not have to rinse or do anything special to make it work. We spent over 1500 dollars on each of these dishwashers and now one if not working. I did not do anything other than turn it on and expect that it should clean.I was told that they would sell me another dishwasher at a discount. DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER ANOTHER ONE?! A real company should replace this POS and give me another one for free and it has been 15 months and I have had 2 of them in my kitchen. I can tell you if you plan on purchasing look at KitchenAid they run forever without any problems. They also did a fantastic job of support (I had it for 6 years in one house with one repair, second house they never needed to come).

We bought a brand new GE kitchen. We put all GE in the new kitchen. The hood/microwave/convection oven broke in 9 months. We had service out, and they wanted the same amount we paid for it to repair it. My husband is an engineer and he got it to limp along. Then in September, it broke and cracked up. All the control panel cracked and broke. It does not work. We called GE. They said to get a replacement. We went to Sears and bought a similar unit as the original has been discontinued. We were assured of a credit towards the new one. A credit would not be issued. Gary ** has continually called my home but not my cell. He reached me today in school, a Special Ed behavioral unit, and started yelling at me over the phone. He said that I did not provide serial numbers. I have many times. He said there is no record of my complaint. I have called, emailed and written at least 3 times providing all information. We just want a credit for the original unit. We have provided sales slips, etc. Please help.

Purchased the Maytag MDB7749SBM stainless steel dishwasher in December 2013. The dishwasher and install totaled $700, which for that price and with Maytags past reputation, I wrongly assumed that the dishwasher would last a long time. In May 2016, slightly over 2 years, the dishwasher started having issues with the control panel. The control lock would randomly activate. I would have to reset the circuit breaker daily, leaving it off for around 10 minutes. Even with trying to go through all the steps to resolve the issue, resetting it from the circuit breaker, sequence on the control panel, the dishwasher wouldnt work. I called Maytag and after 40 minutes on hold, they finally answered. They wanted $89 for a service call and for the $143 part, plus labor. Might as well just replace it with another brand like GE, or Samsung.

No matter which cycle or combination of features I use, my dishes have yet to be cleaned. Contrary to advertising above, I do need to rinse dishes prior to cleaning in dishwasher and also rewash dishes after dishwasher cycle is completed. I have purchased a GE microwave/convection oven 7 months ago. A month ago, the control panel broke down and it would not turn on. I called up customer service and a technician was sent after a week. They have diagnosed it and the motherboard needed to be replaced. The said part was ordered and I was told it would be delivered in 2-3 days and a service will be scheduled in a week. A week came and no parts showed up. I have called up customer advocate and they assured me the said part will be delivered in time for the service appointment.Unfortunately, when they came, the said parts have not been delivered and I was given the lame excuse of systems failure; the request has not gone through their system. So the technician assured me that he will put in an overnight request for the said parts and the oven could be fixed within the week. He even gave me his work and cell number for me to call if I have any inquiries. But he never picks up or even returns my calls. So another service appointment was scheduled and parts were delivered, only to find out that it was the wrong parts, supposedly for another customer and for a different microwave model. Its really frustrating when people keep on reassuring that they are going to get it done, but has done nothing but lip service. Its been over a month and my microwave is still a broken microwave. I have learned my lesson and will never again in my life time purchase a GE appliance. PS: I should have listened to the Home Depot guy that sold me this microwave.

We have had this microwave GE JVM1631wb007 (2003) for a number of years installed above our stove. It was given to us by my husbands son so we did not have it registered with GE as owning it. However, I just sent an email to GE today asking for help as I find absolutely nothing on the internet about a scorched outside microwave door. We have had no issues with it whatsoever - until now. When we returned home from a one week vacation this past Sunday evening, we came home to a scorched OUTSIDE door on this microwave! The inside is fine. The two people who came into the house while we were gone said they did not use it but it is DEFINITELY scorched around the entire area on the outside around the screen area. I refuse to use it although my husband (who is an appliance repairman but does NOT work on microwaves) says its fine to use. Its not only hideous, it LOOKS unsafe to use. Im scared its going to catch on fire but my husband says dont worry and go ahead and use it! Im attaching a pic of it... Anyone else heard of this? Its not like we dont have the money to replace it. Im NOT going to touch the thing... You cant tell him anything. He thinks its fine. I need PROOF that this is dangerous to convince him... Please help before the house burns down!

This machine washes glasses sparkling clean with the use of a rinse additive. I like the fact that it has a top, middle and bottom spray blade; it has a moveable silverware bucket; it is very quiet; it provides that you can wash the upper level separate from the lower level. It seems to make use of the maximum amount of space inside. The appearance is sleek and modern. During the first few washes there is a distinct heated rubber smell that emits from the machine; however, this should dissipate completely by the fourth, fifth or sixth wash.

Soon after getting our new Cafe Microwave CVM2072SM3SS the control panel died. I called GE and power cycling got it going again. This is an over the stove microwave, so we were also told by GE not to use the right front burner without the fan on boost. The problem persisted from time to time and steadily got worse over our 5 years of ownership. Reading the internet this was a common problem known to GE but they took no action to contact owners. Bought a GE dishwasher that a service bulletin was generated by GE on a fault in their manufacturing. DD03-16 for reference. The door does not stay shut and continues to open. GE customer service suggested replacing hinges and brackets on the door. So I ordered the parts and changed them. It did not work. I called them back and they suggested purchasing and replacing additional parts. I called a local 3rd party and they provided the service bulletin and said that this is a problem in the design of these models. GE will not repair the problem. The cost has been shifted to me or they suggest buying a new dishwasher for only $150 over retail. They are hiding behind a warranty that expired, but the problem started at time zero when it was made. This is garbage and I have been without a working unit and continuing to argue with them over the repair or replacement cost. Call if you have this problem because they have identified it and have a solution that they will not tell you about.

I told the tech what his Customer Service said & he said he wasnt surprised about the tool being inside an appliance from GE & GEs response. They determined it was a faulty unit. They ordered another one. I started an insurance claim with GE. They sent a technician to look at it. 2 1/2 weeks after it was installed, the technician showed up. Surprise, it was leaking anymore (The water had been shut off for 2 weeks). Several days later the replacement unit arrived and was installed. Two days later, this one started dripping. I called to have it removed. The installation crew was scheduled to come back on Saturday to remove the dishwasher and get it out of my house. On Thursday, this unit started pouring water out onto my floor. The occasional drip had become a steady stream of water. More than a month after buying this hunk of junk, it was finally removed. Ive ordered a different brand of dishwasher. Ive hired a contractor to come and replace my floor. GE denies any responsibility. I will be starting a lawsuit against them. I cant say enough horrible things about dealing with GE.

I bought one of the microwave ovens with two metal shelves. I found that the shelf in the middle of the oven was in the way and I removed it years ago, but left the top shelf in the unit. The other day, while cooking in the microwave it started to spark at the point where the shelf sat on a small clip. The inside of the oven is ruined. Why would anyone put metal shelves inside a microwave? Im just lucky that I was nearby and able to stop the fire before it destroyed my kitchen.

Have a three-year-old townhouse in New England that came with GE appliances. Within months the microwave needed a new circuit board and, later, the auto open vent is making funny noises when it opens and closes. WORSE: Dishwasher on fritz in third year, requiring a new computer control pad. The cost: $283. American-labeled products produced in other parts of the world are going to cost twice or three times as much before their useful life is over. Shop with care, friends.

I have a 2011 GE Model # JES1456BJ05 microwave and it has been gently used and kept clean. Upon cleaning today I noticed that the top of the inside is blistering and peeling off. Surely this is not safe as it could fall into food, plus they should make them to stand heat, after all this is why they are made for heating things. I called GE who informed me that there is no recall on them so I am pretty much stuck to go out to buy a new one with no help from them. I now read that this has happened to people before. Lesson learned never purchase a GE microwave as they do not stand behind their products when a manufacturing problem develops if you are the first one to call, and beware and ready to buy a new one every 2-3 years. This is all they are made to last!!!!!

Microwave counter top - On Oct. 15, 2010, I purchased JES1460 DNWW at Pacific Sales San Jose. Since then, two service calls on this microwave which replaced one that did not work. New sensor on service call 10-10-11. Today is 3-6-12, strong electrical smell practically knocks you out. I unplugged the unit. We always purchase GE appliances. No more, very poor quality. We are upset.

Does not clean well nor dry well even on the more powerful cycles. I rinse off all the food and if anything is accidentally missed, it just gets baked on. Very disappointing. Also much of the upper rack item remain very wet at the end of the cycle. Drying issues: I use the most powerful drying cycle option but contents remain wet at the end of the cycle, especially plastics and top rack utensils. Not just damp, but large drops of water remain. Cleaning issues: Even when I use the heavy cycle, unless I remove all traces of food from the contents, the food remains and worse, now baked on. This model has a sanitized cycle so basically I use this dishwasher to sanitize only rather than clean, dry and sanitize. Completely unacceptable.

We sent the rebate form in, and they denied our claim. It was for a dishwasher that was recalled. We had to buy another one and only received $100 for the rebate after having to spend $500 on a dishwasher, but the rebate was denied! Unbelievable. We have written GE and the FTC with no response.

Our GE Cafe Appliance package is less than 1year old and the convection/microwave door handle is wrinkling and peeling. I realize that weight may be a concern hence the plastic vs. metal handle due to the side hinge of micro but aluminum or other light metal would have made more sense. A service tech is coming out next week to replace the in warranty handle however this cost will be our responsible next year when this happens again. A light metal retrofit/recall seems to be the logical solution to remain customer centric and maintain GE loyalty. How this material choice error is handled by GE to ensure this problem does not repeat during the life of this appliance defines brand loyalty. Thank you for your consideration.

GE Profile Dishwasher Model GLD4400N10WW - This was the second GE dishwasher I have purchased and it will be the last. When guests come to my home, they ask whats wrong with my dishwasher when helping me in the kitchen. The racks are bubbled and there is a burn mark by the heating element from overheating. The dishes have always been too hot to unload afterwards that you have to leave the door open for ten minutes before touching them, or you will burn your hands. I purchased this dishwasher from Lowes on 2/23/2008 for $368.88. I see that there is a recall on the dishwasher now, and it is only worth a repair. Quite frankly, my dishwasher is all ruined inside and it needs more than just a new heating element. It isnt worth it to me. It is very noisy and sounds awful when I use it. I will not be putting any money into replacement parts at this point, and I am very disappointed with my purchase. A dishwasher should last more than 3.5 years. My dishwasher should be replaced for free, not just get a new element. My husband is a licensed builder and he will not be using GE either, after this experience. I am enclosing a photo of the burns.

20-month old G.E. Space Saver microwave (HVM1540) started to fizzle out by showing signs of running, but not heating; display flickering on and off with odd symbols; and vent, at times, not able to turn off unless I unplugged the whole unit. Anyhow, brand new home with brand new GE appliances, and I have had to replace the ice maker three times in my GE Profile refrigerator, and now this, my microwave. Service department stated that if I pay for the service call and the magnetron, they could guarantee the part for 5 years. But if it should go out, I would have to pay for labor again. Labor is guaranteed for 30 days. No thank you. I am very disappointed in GE products. Single mom, on a single income in rough economic times, I cant afford to purchase GE products again, and again, and again.

I purchased a GE dishwasher 1.5 years ago and it has been nothing but a problem since day one! The door will not stay latched and the dishwasher is perfectly level. You might get 1 or 2 washes in before you have to work on it again. We bought a set of appliances from GE and the stove and refrigerator have worked well. However this dishwasher is junk and I based on my experience I would not recommend this product to anyone!

We recently purchased our second dishwasher in 16+ years (the other one (a Kenmore) is still running fabulously but staying with the sale of our former home - however I am tempted to swap it out with this new one from GE). This beautiful inside and out dishwasher has a couple main flaws that has me wanting my old dishwasher back. The buttons on the front are super sensitive, causing it to come on countless times a day as we get items out of cabinet above. This is not something we thought about. Our old one had the controls on the front but they were under plastic that you pushed... not actual buttons like this one.The second issue is minor. The rack on the bottom is set up very wide on one side and our dinner plates are smaller than some and they do not sit firmly in between the tines. The spacing is great for larger plates or serving items but not for medium size plates. We use a lot of bowls so the other side with closer together tines is always full. Like I said just a minor flaw. Lastly, the unit puts off a high-pitched sound during certain parts of the cycle. It is not really loud but it is bothersome if we are still in the kitchen when it is running.

I found out that there were 2 recalls on this product while sitting in the warehouse for sale, I guess I was lucky. 6 service calls later, still does not work properly and you want continue to charge me service calls for this disastrous dishwasher of 3 years. I guess my GE Profile dishwasher is a lemon. Sounds like it from all the other reviews. Same deal - purchased it in July of 2016 and by October 2016 it went out. Technician that was sent told me it was the electric and I needed to have an electrician fix the fuse. Electrician came out and said it had electric, that it was the dishwasher that failed. Next technician fixed it and said the electronic panels get confused. Three days off of work. December, 2016 the dishwasher failed again. Had no dishwasher throughout the holidays. They scheduled service technician and then cancelled because the one technician they had was out sick.Today, January 9th, they called to let us know they were on the way, but never called the number they were supposed to, so now we are totally taken off the schedule. Ive been on hold and disconnected three times and now have been on hold for one hour and 6 minutes. DONT BUY GE APPLIANCES - Terrible service and crappy appliances that dont work. This is really sickening since I have ALWAYS used GE appliances.

Today I heated some spaghetti sauce in my microwave and it splashed, so I wiped it out. My microwave is built in and was pretty new and in the house when we bought it 4 years ago. It is in the base counter so I have to reach down to clean it. l havent had a problem with it but when I wiped the inside top I felt bumps and when I looked at the cloth to see what was on it, there was paint on it. That has never happened before so I of course looked and there is a fair amount of peeling paint in one spot. I have had microwave ovens for many years. Never had this problem with any other brand. What is that?? Can it be fixed? Is it dangerous???

I just had a GE tech out to my house to look at a GE profile dishwasher that almost burned down last week. There was not a cover over the internal electronic control panel inside the dishwasher and that was causing the circuit board to short out. The dishwasher is only 2 1/2 years old. GE wants to charge us $200 for the repairs. But this should be something covered under warranty. Their solution is for us to pay half. I think we will go and begin to look for a new dishwasher and never purchase another GE appliance. If you are in the process of building a house and equipping your home with new appliances, I highly recommend you look for another line and another brand of appliances. I guess I need to check with an attorney to see if there are any open cases against GE for faulty electronic components in their appliances.

Our new GE dishwasher is a disappointment. 1. There is water on the door after the dishes wash. 2. There is soap on the door after the dishes wash. 3. The silverware is often dirty after the dishes wash.I have observed the following: 1. The reason for the water is the silverware trays are made of plastic and do not dry. They should make them of coated wire like they used to. 2. The soap tray is often prevented from opening all the way by the silverware in the rack. They should re-design the bottom rack. 3. The silverware tray is too enclosed for good cleaning. It should be made of coated wire like they used to.

Generally ok, but the entire wash cycles take way too long. Certainly much longer than the older models. I guess thats more or less the case with most dishwashers today. Two years ago, after owning a GE JVM1490 microwave-convection oven (over the stove) for three years, the door handle broke.Let me clarify that I worked for GE first as an engineer, later as manager, for 20 years including 6 in Major Appliances. I am ashamed of what I am reading how GE is treating customers today.I am perfectly capable of replacing the handle myself if I am provided the complete and correct assembly drawings and/or instructions. GE refused to provide me anything when I requested them. The scant drawings and instructions I found online are insufficient. As a matter of fact, the design is so poor that removing the internal bezel, which you must do to reach the handle fasteners, forces you to break the mounting tabs, requiring replacement of this part plus the handle. This was confirmed by the parts store I visited. However, even after removing the bezel, neither I nor another ex-GE appliance engineer could figure out the access to the fasteners. I have glued the handle three times using epoxy and Cyanoacrylate (super glue), but it has broken off a fourth time. I will figure out a way of fixing it before I pay GE close to $100 for both the handle and bezel. And if I replace the appliance, you can be sure it will not be GE.GE should be ashamed of the poor design and deplorable customer service they are giving now. How things have changed! My suggestion is that all with this problem post name and phone number of GE customer service personnel they spoke with.

Run, dont walk, toward any dishwasher other than a GE. Problems with the dishwasher within one year - black residue on my dishes that felt and smeared like grease. Calls to GE repair resulted in the worst customer service I have ever experienced. One call returned at 4:00 am. After two visits, a lecture about how to load a dishwasher, I gave up. The effort of making calls for visits, taking time off work, rude repair technicians and being told it was not grease, I now have a dishwasher a few years old that is falling apart. Screws are now coming loose and the buttons are sticking.
