Month Long Dish Washer Installation from Hell (Try #3 the best).Install Try 1 (I took off work for): Oops, I ordered the wrong hose. I am going to have to come back next week to install. I will call you and set something up. (installer). Next week Friday: Hello is this GE Installation services Umm its Friday and the guy never called or showed up this week to install my dishwasher I just purchased??!? (me). We then set up a time for the following week. How unprofessional.Install Try 2 (I took off work for): Umm still didnt bring the right hose. Can you go to Home Depot for me and buy the right one and bring it back? (installer). Ahh No!?! This is your problem not mine. (me). Well I will have to come back then. (installer). You have to be kidding me. I have to take another day off work?!? (me). Finally he gets a guy to come with the correct hose. Umm, can I borrow a screw driver and some tools from you?(installer). You have to be kidding me, sure? (me). Installer proceeds to drop the sides and fumble around banging the pieces on my NEW floor. Finally getting it installed. It doesnt look right. Dont the feet raise up and shouldnt the dishwasher be flush to the cabinets????!? and it looks crooked?? (me). Nope. (installer). I file a complaint and the guy removes my $60 install fee and sends another team out to fix it.Install Try 3 (I took off work for): 3 guys come and re-install dishwasher worse than the guy before them. From the other room you hear banging around and Oops, I broke a screw etc... This is what happens afterwards. Umm the plastic backing and sides are showing. Its pushed out farther than it was from the first guy. It definitely is NOT supposed to look like that. Plus its loose??? (me). Best we can do. Bye. (install team). This doesnt seem right....(me). Oh no, its leaking!!!!!!!!!!!! (me). So I called a plumber to come ASAP as I said before its NEW wood floor. New Plumber NOT associated with GE or Home Depot (who I probably will be getting a nice bill for calling last minute) proceeds to fix my dishwasher for the next 4 hours...Here is a small list of problems: 1) its leaking; 2) the foot vibrated off; 3) screws broke off; 4) damage to hose; 5) bottom plate installed at angle not even remotely level; 6) scratched up floor and cabinets; 7) installed too far forward and too low. This is the list. So far we still are trying to figure out where it is leaking from and if the dishwasher even will work. Thank god I actually got a Professional this time unlike GE/Home Depots teams. I then called GE Install services 1-800-432-7167 again and this is what they had to say: We already refunded you the 60 dollars. There is nothing we can do but we will file your complaint. I called again to speak with a manager and after a long conversation, he gave me $62 off my order. -- And let me tell you that is not going to cover the cost of the plumber I just hired to fix your mess. Not to mention the 3 days off work I took. Irritated I hung up. I bought a fridge, cook top, and double oven with GE along with this dishwasher. I wish I hadnt given them my business. Apparently, I am supposed to call back if the dishwasher doesnt work when my plumber is done working on it. Oh I WILL be calling back, you can bet on it. As for now I just hope he finds the leak... Moral of the story is NEVER use the install services they offer. You are better off getting your own plumber from the start.

About a year and a half ago, I bought a GE Profile dishwasher from a very reputable local dealer. Within 3 months, the digital control panel failed. Because it was still under warranty, the dealer replaced the panel. It failed again. This time they made other adjustments, it continued to fail. Finally GE suggested that the dealer replace the entire door panel, which they did. It took the repairman a couple of hours to do so. Still didnt work. Finally GE declared the machine non repairable and replaced it. Unfortunately the men who replaced the dishwasher didnt install quite correctly because it leaks. I keep a plastic container under the front left corner to collect the water every time the dishwasher runs. But the story doesnt end there. This machine and the first one both include a sensor that apparently check for objects that obstruct the spray arms. I dont know because theres nothing that tells me why the machine is beeping when I attempt to start it. I check the spray arms, move dishes, try to start it again and still get the beeper. I have done this over and over and over again and still it beeps. I have essentially emptied the dishwasher and it still beeps. When it does run, I have to use the boost temp. option and the longest cycle available to get dishes, and I mean dishes, even passably clean. Forget pots and pans, or casseroles. So, if you own a GE dishwasher, I hope that you have the old fashioned dishpan and dryer rack handy. Bottom line, it doesnt clean well, leaks, and beeps every single time I try to start it. Buy something else.

Bought the whole GE profile kitchen series 2 years ago. Last week the microwave went dark, blew a component, and is dead. With only two people using it off and on for reheating, hardly got our money worth. Called GE for assistance and went back to the store where it was purchased. No one offered any financial assistance with the loss. The microwave itself was $500. My husband and I are very disappointed in the product and service.

GE Profile GLD4408RBB: Bought this dishwasher at Home Depot 2010 for our FL condo. We visit there periodically, dont rent out. We have used this dishwasher probably 50 times since buying. It never wash dishes well, leaving residue and we do clean them first. Now it doesnt drain; seems like pump not working. Its only five years old and hardly used. Its not worth having a repairman for labor and cost of parts. Very disappointed with GE product and wont buy another one.

If you have a choice, run away from GE like the plague, because if you have to make a warranty claim, it may become a nightmare. I purchased a new home May of 2015, and my wife and I paid for the appliance upgrade to the GE Profile, which werent cheap. Less than 2 months I noticed that the microwave had a burn spot on the bottom of the door where it sits against the exterior of the microwave, the paint was burnt from the metal, and the rubber seal melted. I did not think too much of it because the microwave still worked and unless you opened it you did not see it, so it wasnt so much of an eye sore. Fast forward to January 2016, my wife informed me that the microwave stopped heating, and that she was going to put a ticket in to New Home Warranty, I informed her that we probably need to go to GE directly as I knew that is what they were going to say. So I called GE and put in a Service ticket. They informed me that it was going to be a little over a week before anyone would be available to come look at it, to which I was OK with. The repair guy finally came. I explained to him in detail what the issues were. He opened the microwave, closed it back, wrote some things on his computer, and told me that he ordered a part called the magnetron tube, which sounded like something from the transformers. He told me it would be a week before the part would be ordered, so I asked him if it wouldnt be easier for them to just replace the microwave. He told me that it is a warranty repair and they have to try and fix it first and if not, then they will. The evening before the repair guy was supposed to show up to change the door and the magnetron tube, I got a voicemail stating that the part will not be received until the evening of the repair, so they rescheduled me for 2 days later. GE just assumed that I would be available, because I probably sit at home all day waiting for service repairs. I called back the number to see what was going on. I was adamant that they replace the microwave, because by this time it was already 3 weeks without a microwave. And with small kids in the house it was very annoying to have to put a pot on the stove every time you needed to heat anything. After 45 minutes, I was still nowhere with them, so I ended up sticking with their new appointment window. I was leaving for work 2 days later when I noticed the repair guy at another home in the community. I thought to myself why couldnt he have done our repair the same day if he were already going to be in the neighborhood? About 45 minutes later my wife called me and told me that the repair guy showed up to repair the unit, that they were supposed to repair a day later, only to be told that the damage on the door was caused by arching, and that it will happen again so the microwave is non-repairable, so they will have to replace it. He told my wife that she will be receiving a call from the warehouse within 24 hours to schedule the replacement once the microwave is available, but she could call the warranty repair department to see if they could expedite it. After another 25 minutes on the phone going back and forth we were told that it will be about 7-10 business days before the microwave may be available. Now it is good to note that the warehouse where they stock the product is only 2 hours away from where I live. So by the count of it by the time we receive a new microwave, it would have been about 5 to 6 weeks from the initial call to get the issue taken care of.

I have used and owned dishwashers for over 35 years and not once has one rusted like this. Poor quality for the racks! I feel it should be replaced free of charge.

GE Microwave was making intermittent buzzing noise 1 month after purchase. Called GE & they said they could send a tech out to check it but if they didnt find anything I would be charged a service call. I stated it would only do it once in a while so was concerned it wouldnt do it when tech was here & I would be charged so I passed on the tech. Microwave continued to make noise periodically but seemed to get less as time went on. 1 year & 10 months later it started to sound like it was arcing & shut off. Again it was periodic. Called GE. They sent a tech out & it only shut off but no arcing sound or intermittent starting & stopping. Tech stated it probably was door micro switch, but when GE called me back they said he stated it probably was circuit board. Whatever the cause it is still what I would call arcing & going off & on.GE stated They could give me a discount on a new microwave which amounted to cost of $100.00 more than I paid for it in the first place.

Microwave Oven-Space Saver Model JVM6172DF1WW - This is the same problem that is well documented across the web regarding this POOR General Electric product. I purchased the microwave about 14 months ago and the keypad abruptly stopped working. After checking the electrical circuits from the main box to the device, I determined that the problem is not due to the electrical connection. GE appliance division has been in a poor state for a long time now. The company manufactures this product outside of the U.S., in this case Malaysia, and obviously has a poor quality assurance - quality control plan in place. Couple the production issues with poor customer service and you have a huge, well respected company that is putting out shoddy work.I will be trying to get someone to take responsibility for this problem within General Electric but recognize that any success in that respect is a long shot. My message to other consumers is succinct and to the point - DO NOT purchase this product with your hard earned dollars. Go with another brand with a company that stands behind its products and wants to keep the customer coming back for more. GENERAL ELECTRIC is not one of those companies.

My 3 year old $600 GE micro caught on fire with nothing it. I set the timer on my top of the line GE microwave for a reminder. Nothing in the micro, cooking nothing! When I came back it was on fire! Melted the inside. If I would not of been there it would of burnt my house down! The only way to shut it off and put out the fire was to turn off the power to it. The next day as soon as I turned the power on my GE microwave started on fire again!!! This must be happing to many people and needs to be addressed by GE! This company needs to be held accountable for burning houses down!

We remodeled our kitchen three years ago and purchased three GE cafe products: the dishwasher, microwave, and stove. The stove has been wonderful, no problems. The microwave was defective when we purchased but was easily repaired by the install of a new circuit board (I believe that is what it was called). Anyhow, no problems since. The dishwasher has been a big disappointment (it too needed a new circuit board) in regards to its performance. Dishes come out looking horrible as if there is still soap on them! I tried different types of soaps, the liquid, tabs, and rinse aids. Nothing seemed to work! I finally gave up on the liquid and my husband cleaned out the liquid dispenser completely and I only used the tabs as the results seemed to be a bit better. I regretted trashing our 15+ year old dishwasher that worked wonderfully! I am giving my review three stars because my coworker suggested I try a product called Lemi Shine (you can purchase at Target). I was not hopeful but it was the answer to my dishwasher prayers! It is incredible and I have used it for a few months now and have no complaints about my dishwasher’s performance. I use only the tab dispenser (Finish Powerball) and then I sprinkle Lemi Shine around the tab and my dishes are clean with NO residue! As an added bonus, the inside of the dishwasher is spic and span too! I guess I didnt notice how filmy and cloudy it had become. Try Lemi Shine and I hope it works for all of you too!

I have 4 small children and the 2 older kids use the microwave. I called GE and talked to customer service about replacing it. The lady said no and that they will repair it (again) but not replace it! Well it broke the 1st time before it was 6 mo old! This microwave is a lemon and they should make it right! July 4th, 2010 - GE Profile Dishwasher, Model: PDW9200N00BB, Dishwasher had been humming after cycle was over for a little while, this night I walk into the kitchen late and find it full of smoke. Circuit board has a hole burned though it and wiring harness is melted. Never tripped any safety, could close the door and it would come right back on, smoke and all. This model was not on the recall list but I called GE anyway. After describing the fire they send someone out, then they send a new dishwasher out and install it. I assume they wanted the old one to look over or just to get rid of it. New washer installed the end of July 2010, new model number PDWT500R10BB. Today is 2012-02-02 and the new machine would not stop at end of cycle (Got down to 1 minute and stay there for at least 20 minutes before we turned it off). This machine is now making the continuous hum after the cycle stops that the old one did before it caught on fire.Called GE, they said they could maybe go half on parts and service until they checked where I was located. (Wichita, KS. Area population 500,000+) They said that they didnt send factory techs to my area and I would need to contact a local repair service. I pointed out that they had a factory guy for when my machine was on fire and they said it was just a malfunction now, so they could not. No half on the price for repair either at this point. This is a $1100 to $1200 dishwasher with, as near as I can tell from complaints online, a history of going up in flames. I understand things break etc, but when you continue to put out products like this and then refuse to remedy the problem, I and anyone who will listened to me will never own anything GE again.

Horrible experience. I wouldnt recommend GE appliances to anyone. My husband and I ordered our items on the day of closing on our new Home. Well the items were scheduled to arrive Aug 9, 2017. Every other Appliance arrived from Samsung, but my GE dishwasher was a no show. I received a phone call hours later stating they didnt know it was on Backorder and I wont receive it until Aug 11, 2017.I spoke with supervisor Krista because I didnt understand the lack of respect far as not knowing if the 11 was a good day or even so much as an apology! Until I expressed how upset I was! 2 hours later I received a automatic message stating the items it still on Backorder and now its not coming until Aug 17th! I spoke with Home Depot who apparently has nothing to do with the vendor handling and conducting business this way and now I have to go return the product & order a new product.I dont even want GE appliances AT ALL. After calling today being put on hold 30 mins still no supervisor came to the phone. Terrible Customer service and lack of communication of the vendor. Ill be sure to highly encourage my friends and family to not support this Brand! Feeling upset and totally let down. I know this cant be how such a popular brand conducts business.

I wasted my whole day waiting for GE Technician to come. Nobody called me to let me know that they are not coming. I have to call them only for a Mr. ** to tell me that they had rescheduled the appointment for another one week without notifying me. Good job that GE APPLIANCES are doing. You remember the so called TOO BIG TO FAIL? It means, they can do whatever they want at whatever time or day they want. I dont have a vent in my house and that means I cant use the stove. Is this ridiculous or I am missing something here? Is it TOO BIG TO FAIL? Yes, I forgot that. I will be staying in a house with a new GE APPLIANCE that has not been working for the last one week and have to wait for another week. Mind you, this Appliance has been used only for barely a month. Is there anybody out there who is facing the same problem or its just me. If there is nobody going through the same experience, an excuse like there are no Technicians available to come to your place and do the job. If there is anybody out there who has trust in GE appliances like I did or even thinking of getting one. Be aware that you will be through what I am going through and there will be no technician available for another two weeks. Be ready to wait for they will reschedule your appointment without letting you know, why? Because theyre TOO BIG TO FAIL. What will you do? Wait until they decide to come, if theres a technician available. I just realized that GE means GO ELSEWHERE. Thanks GE for the good job.

I had just placed a microwave safe glass dish inside. I removed that and tested again with nothing inside. Same thing happened. I next thoroughly cleaned the unit. Tried again. Same thing happened. We built a new home in 8/19. Much to our dismay, the builder only offered GE appliances. We had a bad experience with a GE appliance in the past so we went with the most expensive offered, the Profile series. Nine months into our new home, the microwave push button to open the door broke (with food stuck inside). I was only able to schedule an appointment through an automated system. Days later, repairman breaks door trying to get food out. Parts were ordered and new date was set for one week later. Day before that appointment, I got a call canceling my appointment due to the part being on backorder. The entire call took 57 minutes. New appointment was set for an additional week. Again, appointment canceled and part was ordered from third party. Third appointment was a repeat yet again (but without a call and with repairman showing up). The rep did say she would send $70 for us to buy a small microwave while waiting. We are now at three weeks without our microwave being fixed and I have spent HOURS on hold trying to get to a resolution. Last representative asked why I even made an appointment if I didnt have the parts. What!! They have scheduled the appointments. I asked to talk to a supervisor but then was told it would be 24-48 hours before someone could call me back. The rep said this is the timeframe they quote for a callback but she didnt know when anyone would actually call. No idea how much longer we will have to wait-it seems we are at their mercy. When buying new appliances in the future, we will ask who services their warranty! Either way, we will never buy GE appliances again.

Three years ago, we remodeled our kitchen and replaced all our appliances with GE Profile Stainless Steel appliances, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Two months ago, the dishwasher, model PDWT580R10SS, stopped working. It was out of warranty, but the store where we purchased it said to call GE consumer service to see what they could do. They said that they would replace the parts for free if we paid for service. They said they would send a GE certified service tech to fix it. The two people they sent were dumb as a brick and after tearing apart the door, they decided that the controller board was bad and sent for a replacement. Two weeks later, they installed the new controller board and it still didnt work. They called GE and were walked through a troubleshooting guide and it was determined that the touchpad was bad. They ordered a touch pad and two weeks later, they arrived to install it and asked where the part was. According to them, it was sent to me and was at the post office, which it was not. They then asked to be paid for the three calls and I told them I do not pay for incompetence and would pay them when the appliance was fixed. Turns out, they gave GE the wrong address (their store) for the part and it was sent back. I called GE Consumer Service and talked to my rep who said she would send the part directly to me and that the service rep refused to work with me again and I should contact another service organization. The part came and it was not a touch pad, even though the packing list said touch pad. I called the GE rep, who is now a good friend and she said she would contact the store where we purchased the dishwasher and have them fix it as long as I paid for the parts. It is now two weeks since they arrived and diagnosed the problem. I just called the store and they said the part was backordered for another week. It will be close to three months before the dishwasher will be fixed if it can be. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PURCHASE A GE APPLIANCE.

Purchased the cafe dishwasher in March. We are now on our second one as the first did not work and now this one does not work. It worked fine for the first couple of months and now it’s doing the same thing as the first one. Pump is on the fritz apparently. Truly disappointed. We owned the cafe dishwasher at our last house and loved it so we made sure that we purchased the same one when we bought our new house.

My GE counter top microwave (JES1456), purchased from Home Depot less than a year ago, just stopped working today. No lights, or anything. The electrical outlet is fine. The GE warranty appears to be effectively meaningless. It is cheaper to replace the oven, than have it repaired. I will avoid GE products in the future.

My GE dishwasher came with my new Miller & Smith house. Its 2 years old. The bottom tray is rusting in several spots and you cant open the door while in operation to add an extra dish. When you open the door the dishwasher should pause while you add the dish, but this one continues working as if the door was closed and water sprays everywhere. I understand the one year warranty (they must know their products do not last long). Their support line tells me my options are to get it repaired ($99.95 for a tech to come and diagnose, then additional charges for parts and labor to install the parts on the next visit). The bottom tray is ~$125. I found their customer service rude, unsympathetic, and bothered by my questions. I was also told to go their website and review the rebate offers on a new dishwasher. I wanted to understand that program better, but the customer service agent did seemed uninterested to help me.I was quite surprised in getting this poor quality product and poor service from GE. Im not going to bother with repairs, because the cost at least $300, so I will opt to put that money in a different brand. I was considering giving GE another chance and taking them up on their rebate offer, but after reading all these other reviews, I certainly will not. The time I spent writing this will very likely have no impact on making GE change, but maybe put a tiny dent in their reputation and they will get one less sale from me.

We bought a top of the line GE microwave oven (model PEB7226DF1BB sn VA201160N) in 2014. It has now failed 5 times in 4 years - 2015, 2016, twice in 2017 & now 2018 - and the repairs have cost us more than the original price of this piece of junk. We bought it from a local dealer, KAM Appliances in Hyannis, MA, but had to resort to an independent repair service, because KAM was not very responsive. I know that I should have given up on it a long time ago, but in the past I always had good luck with GE appliances. Needless to say, I will never buy anything from GE again. I have learned that GE Appliances are now built by Haier, a Chinese company. No wonder they are junk.

We just had a Fire in our GE Microwave, Model # JVM1750SP1SS. Manufactured in August 2010. Purchased at Home Depot in December 2010 and installed January 2011. The right rear shelf hook caught fire while the microwave was in use. Luckily, we saw it in time... We are not sure who to complain to or tell about this. We went on GE.com to inform them of this issue and am waiting for a response. I see here that I am not alone. There is other info being shared on YouTube about this issue as well. GE better make good on this for me. Now I have to find my paperwork... Figure out who will remove this under cabinet installed oven and replace it. I am probably on my own here as it is 3 years old!!

I went and checked to make sure there wasnt something foreign in it (there wasnt) and stupid me thought maybe it was the popcorn so I tried a bowl of water. It did the same thing again. My life partner/bf moved into a semi flipped 10 yr old home. Every single appliance required to be replaced, everything from refrigerator, stove/oven, to dishwasher. We researched every appliance we purchased, a lot of time and effort along with reviews from various reputable reviewers, pointed us to the GE GDT DISHWASHER. Who can go wrong with three tier washing amongst jetted water bottle washers? After a 1 1/2 yrs in the top spinner completely separated from its housing. We googled the problem, GE said it was a faulty design, yet no recall. The door lock began to fail, googled the repair fix, another fault design, yet again no recall. Upper plastic door trim broke in half, solution, replace the entire console. Guess what? My solution here on out is to not buy GE products. If two years is all you get with a GE product, I am out! Done with your products that once lasted 10 to 15 years. The fact that have to research another DISHWASHER, absolutely pisses me off. I dare you GE to win me back!

I purchased a GE Profile stocks in 2007 and a GE microwave model JVM7195SK1SS purchased 12/30/16. We have replaced the knobs on the stove 2 times because of peeling in the past. Now we need to replace the microwave handle. The handles and knobs look like metal but they are cheaply made white plastic covered with a sharp silver coating that peels. It appears the knobs get overheated when the oven opens and the microwave handle from the steam when cooking on the stove. Last night I cut my hand on the handle! We reordered the faulty handle and now getting charge $100 from GE. The company should take responsibility for their poor design and replace it for free with a nonpeeling part. I know that we will get the same handle and won’t be able to use the burner below or hope that using the fan will keep it from cracking again. I would never recommend a GE product again.

I called GE service and when they came the technician said needs seal mat and offered to repair (the dishwasher has been installed in the garage since the water that comes out flood the kitchen floor and we cant afford having the floor damaged). But I had no faith whatsoever in this dishwasher (I was told if the problem happen again and damage my floor they will only offer to repair the dishwasher and I have to go to the insurance to repair my floor) or GE and said I wanted my money back. They did not even offered a replacement. It is still a brand new machine, I never use it.

We have got through 2 handles. I took the 2nd one off to replace it and the plastic that holds the glass in place just disintegrated onto the floor along with much other plastic parts. Why is the door plastic in the first place if they cannot make it from a heatproof material? Only 4 years old and we are going to have to junk it. When the first handle failed under warranty GE said that it was not covered as it is a plastic part! They finally covered it after a long conversation.

We purchased a GE Profile dishwasher because our old one was recalled for fire hazard and we were offered a rebate on a new one, and told there was no fix for the old one. On the new Profile dishwasher, the water inlet valve stuck open and flooded our home. Tech said we may as well have had a hose on full blast all night. Word to the wise, do not turn your dishwasher on and go to bed or leave the house! 7 1/2 hours later we woke to a completely flooded downstairs. When we were researching whether or not there were other complaints on that model dishwasher, we noticed there had been a recall for fire hazard ON THE NEW DISHWASHER! Since this is located right under our bed, we were fortunate though not happy about the flood! We have exceeded the 40K mark in damages and the assessments and estimates are still coming in. We will never own another GE product, though we recently purchased a stove with a double oven which is thus far wonderful. GE has also recently been purchased by Electrolux. We chose a Bosch for our new dishwasher.

No matter what it is whether it's a GE hot water heater, an iPhone, a car or a frozen TV dinner, you're going to find someone that had a bad experience. After a day of rain eight years after I put in my Home Depot GE hot water heater, the pilot was out. I don't know if it was wet in there or what but it took me 10 hours of repeated attempts and while I was searching online for answers and deals on replacing it, I kept trying. And tonight at 10:30 PM I didn't bugger about, I just held down the pilot for one minute, and then once the pilot remained lit on its own, as fast as I could I turned the thermostat to medium high and kaboom it lit up wonderfully. Maybe it dried out but I would not say that GE water heaters are a piece of Home Depot junk. As I said earlier I installed mine eight years ago and it has never had a problem and since tonight it restarted and I checked the tap and now have hot water. I suspect it will be fine but if I need a new one, eight years hasn't been a bad run. Just follow the instructions very carefully and repeat and repeat and repeat. Good luck.

My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS)
My husband ran our 4-year old GE stainless steel dishwasher (PDW8980N00SS) at 9 pm, 2/4/13. At 11 pm, he emptied and put away the dishes. At midnight, we went to bed. At 4:50 am on 2/5/13, we were awakened by a burning smell and discovered the heating element of the dishwasher either turned back on or never turned off. We were unable to touch the granite counter, the front of the dishwasher, and both wooden cabinets on either side of the dishwasher were very warm. The spinning arms and other plastic parts were melted. The only way it could be turned off was to unplug it from the outlet in the cabinet. We were leaving for the airport at 7:30 am on 2/5/13, so needless to say, we would have lost our home if this occurred a couple of hours later. The Assurant tech said it was repairable and ordered a part, which would take at least a week. Assurant customer service had us call GE. When we stated we didnt want the faulty dishwasher repaired, but wanted a new dishwasher, the best the GE customer service rep could offer us was 38-40% off several new different Profile dishwashers. After reading page after page of bad reviews, most of which detail either one or multiple fires from different GE dishwashers, we dont even want another GE dishwasher in our home. We already needed the smart soap dispenser replaced, since it clogs periodically and doesnt wash dishes very well. We also have a countertop GE Profile microwave, and the turntable motor has gone out 3 times so far. Weve purchased the replacement motors ourselves since it isnt under Assurant insurance. Not sure what the resolution will be on the dishwasher, but wed be happy if GE would give us at least $500 toward a different brand dishwasher. I know well never ever buy another GE appliance after this. We wouldnt sleep at night or ever want to go out of the house without unplugging another GE dishwasher, so dont want one.

I purchased a new GE washing machine, and a new GE dishwasher, less than 5 years ago. The washing machine started leaking suddenly, and the repairman stated it was due to a cracked basket. They stated this was very rare, but the warranty had expired. The repairs would cost as much as a new machine. The dishwasher stopped draining water. A repairman advised there were two pumps, and one or both may be out. Estimates to repair the unit were only slightly less than the cost of a new unit.I will never again purchase GE appliances. I believe the life of a home appliance should be longer than 5 years. The cheap units I bought in my younger years lasted 20 years, without any problems. The GE units are not quality machines, and repair costs are outrageous. Nice way to try and convince appliance owners to just go buy new units. I can guarantee, I will not buy GE products ever again.

Weve had our new over the stove microwave (GE Profile Microwave Oven PVM2170SR1SS) just over one year and the oven light went out. The owners manual has no information about how to replace the light. I called GE customer assistance office and they said it requires a technician to come to the house to replace the bulb. A service call would cost around $95 minimum. This is a ridiculous requirement to make consumers do a service call for an oven light. The owners manual does show how to replace the charcoal air filter, if you use one, by removing the plastic cover across the top of the oven with the door open. Guess what? I removed the two screws holding the plastic cover and sure enough, there was also the access to the cover to access the oven light. You just remove the one screw and the small cover plate can be removed! Be sure to turn off the power to the oven before removing the small 50w Halogen G8 light bulb (Home Depot $5.00). My complaint about GE is that they do not give the homeowner information about replacing this oven light, but instead require you to pay for a service call. The irony is that the owners manual tells you how to access the filter by removing the plastic grill and thats how you also access the panel to replace the oven light bulb. They also tell you how to replace the light bulb that provides light to your range, so it cant be a safety issue about replacing light bulbs. Requiring the consumer to request a service call for $95 just to replace the oven light, when GE could have easily put the procedure in the owners manual, is a real consumer ripoff!

One of the most disgusting situations I have ever been in. I purchased a brand new home with all new GE appliances. I have since learned that a technician was sent out twice prior to our walk-through because the superintendent noticed the dishwasher wasnt working properly. I registered all my appliances online. The first time I used the dishwasher, it flooded the kitchen floor, causing the builder to have to repair baseboard and drywall. A technician came out and repaired it. I used it an additional two times and each time I did, it flooded my kitchen and a repairman came out. After the second time, I contacted GE customer care to open a case. The third time, I requested a new dishwasher and the customer care agent, Stephanie, stated that my new dishwasher was a discontinued model and so she suggested one that was a slight upgrade. I agreed to this change and she informed it would take approximately 24 hours to have it approved. I have since talked to seven different people at GE customer care. This was started when a company called Barlows Distributing showed up unannounced at my front door approximately hours after my discussion with GE. They said they were here to install my dishwasher. I was rather shocked, said the timing was impressive, and let them in the door. After they had drained the water standing in the then current dishwasher, they started to put in a replacement. I looked at the box and realized they were placing the same model in. I told them that was unacceptable, because according to GE, I was being approved for a different dishwasher. I then told the tech to stop installing it and called GE. GE had no idea where this dishwasher had come from. Then an unavailable number showed up on my cell phone and when I answered it, the woman spoke my first name and started talking about my dishwasher, stating the builder had ordered a new one. I asked her who she was twice and she would only tell me GE customer care and not her name. I have since learned her name was Julianna. She said that I had to take this dishwasher or I wouldnt have one at all. I took this as a threat. After spending countless hours on the phone with GE opening a case and discussing the issues, picking out an acceptable replacement, I was then told the builder made this decision. Not only was I thrown from person to person over a discontinued model, I was threatened, and further was told by the superintendent of construction that once the dishwasher was installed and we closed on the house, I had to handle all problems through GE. I own the dishwasher, not the builder. I registered the warranty, and I handled it through the proper channels. I feel I need an explicit apology from GE. One of their arms doesnt know what the other arm is doing. During this entire time, I had little use of my right hand and seven fractured vertebrae (for which I am permanently disabled) and had to physically wash 10 boxes of dishes that had been packed up due to our move and stand while doing it. GE has caused me property damage, stress, and severe physical pain, yet threatens me and yanks me from person to person. This is my house, my dishwasher, and this matter should have been handled directly with me, instead of inviting someone into my house that I had no connection to or knowledge of. The really sad thing is that I just purchased and had installed a $6500 water softener and reverse osmosis system for the whole house, manufactured by guess who...GE.

So, I would have to pay to have it repaired. My last microwave (before GE) lasted well over 10 years. I always thought that GE was a good company; I guess not. I feel that it is their fault. I seldom use the microwave and I even clean it with a damp cloth. I do not think that I should have to pay for the repairs and I should be given some kind of a discount on a new one. I had a GE dishwasher installed by the builder when I purchased my home. The dishwasher had a fire in the wiring harness for the energy save drying switch. The dishwasher was under warranty and was repaired by GE without issue, and they told me it was safe. About 2 years later, GE recalled the dishwasher for having started numerous fires throughout the country. As part of the recall program, GE offered incentives towards the purchase of a new dishwasher; however, unless you purchased another GE dishwasher, you received virtually nothing. I purchased the top of the line GE Triton performance plus dishwasher and had it professionally installed, and given my previous dishwashers history, I purchased an extended warranty from GE. This new allegedly top of the line dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen, causing several thousand dollars in damage to the floor / sub floor and ceiling below. GE was contacted, came out, and made a repair; and my damage claim was paid by GEs insurance carrier Electric insurance. Once again, 2 years later, this same dishwasher blew a hose and flooded my kitchen and downstairs. I contacted GE and found that my warranty had been sold by GE to an outside company named Assurant without my knowledge. They were unable to provide me with a service appointment for about 2 weeks and advised me not to touch anything until the damage was documented by a GE technician or my damage claim would be denied. I contacted GE customer service and explained the circumstances and that the water damage would need to be mitigated in order to prevent additional damage to my home. GE scheduled a sooner appointment, but they failed to show up. I called GE again; they rescheduled for the following day and failed to show again. GE was re-contacted, and they scheduled a third appointment with A&E, a GE affiliated outside repair service. This time, the technician arrived but was unable to do anything unless I made a cash payment to him, as GE failed to include my extended warranty information when they booked my appointment. I re-contacted GE, and the next available appointment date was more than two weeks away. I was concerned that the water damage would cause mold and create an electrical hazard due to wet wiring, and the water caused the laminate floor and sub floor in my kitchen and downstairs den to warp and buckle. I was forced to contact my homeowners insurance in order to get this damage addressed. GE has been unable to get anyone to my home to address the situation. In total, I have spent about 16 hours on the telephone remaining on hold an average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours for each call, only to be told there was nothing they could do or that no supervisor was available or authorized to do anything. Assurant advised me they would look into it and get back to me, but I have yet to receive a return call. GE corporate headquarters was contacted, and they were polite but unable to accomplish anything either. I am removing the appliance myself and having it replaced at my own expense with any brand other than GE. I would strongly urge anyone making an appliance purchase to choose another brand; GEs appliances, customer service, and repair service are all unreliable and well below standards based on the hundreds of dollars we spend on appliances. My decision to purchase a GE dishwasher has resulted in damage to my home in excess of $10,000.00 and an unbelievable amount of frustration and aggravation waiting for repair personnel that dont show and waiting on hold to speak to people who can do nothing for you. If I performed this badly at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago. Learn from my situation and dont buy GE!

We got the GE cafe series appliances with our house. We just completed 16 months in our new house and the microwave stopped working. We had to call the GE cafe person to troubleshoot the problem. He charged us $80 (without even touching the microwave) and said we will have to spend $450 more to fix it. This is such a horrible customer experience. I had a $40 microwave in my old apartment which lasted for 4 years without a single problem. I am definitely not paying $450 for a useless microwave. But now I am worried about remaining appliances I have from GE. I understand that you would say you cant do anything as the appliances are not in warranty anymore. But if you really care about your customers, you should start looking into this and fix it. I am very very disappointed and I am not letting this go. I expect someone from GE to help us to get this fixed. Thanks for your patience to read this outburst of a disappointed customer.

We purchased a Profile Dishwasher, Stove, Oven and Microwave. So far weve had problems with all products especially the dishwasher. The bottom of the dishwasher is filled with water, the door has water running down the front and all dishes have to be dried. I have talked to GE and I was told the new models do not have a drying system as in the past due to EPA. I feel like we have spent thousands of dollars for items that are trash. Had I known I would be drying dishes I would never bought GE products. I would trade this GE for a SEARS in a minute but too late. Ill keep calling GE office, maybe a miracle will occur. I recently purchased a GD720SGF2WW Serial #HD744674B GE dishwasher. From the moment I tried to use it there was a leak from the bottom of the door. I called for service and when they came the repair man said the door was leaking and there was a repair kit for it so it must be a weak spot in this particular dishwasher, which by the way was not a cheap model and was stainless steel lined. I waited a month for further service and when he finally came he realized he had mistakenly diagnosed the problem and it was a crack in the lining of the door which had gradually gotten bigger as I waited for service. So this NEW dishwasher had been leaking onto my newly installed hardwood floor. By this time I had no faith whatsoever in this dishwasher and said I wanted a replacement. I was called back and told that they would only repair it, which I have been trying to do since NOVEMBER and it is now Jan 21! I will no longer buy GE products and when I called customer service I was on hold for 20 min and finally hung up which Im sure was their intent.

We purchased a manufactured home that had brand new, GE appliances in it. We have been in the home for almost two years, but the dishwasher has never worked well, at ALL, even when it was brand new. We called GE and they sent a local appliance repairman to our house. He said that there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher. They are just junk. Amen! I have tried running the water in the sink until it is hot before the dishwasher fills up, we have tried using a citrus additive that is supposed to help it clean better, we have tried several different kinds of soap, NOTHING works. It never gets the dishes clean, there is always residue and food left at the bottom of the dishwasher, and it runs for hours on end. I cant wait until I can get rid of this pile of junk and purchase a Whirlpool or anything else. I will never purchase GE appliances, EVER!!!!

Im very upset with my self for not doing the proper research on this product. I cant imagine a dishwasher being worse than this one. From day one, it never cleaned; half the dishes are always dirty. Some soaps work better than others. Still dirty dishes. We paid nearly $1000 for this machine, and once again, it has backed up. I will do my research next time. Their service department tried to tell me it was because it needed to be cleaned. GE never again! I have a busy family, and there is nothing more frustrating than having a dishwasher and not being able to use it.

My Quiet Power 3 model GLD4450N10CS didnt clean well from installation (July 2008). But I ran the heavy wash as the norm. And I never used heated dry in case I had to rewash any of the contents. I ran my dishwash last evening. I went out to dinner and returned to a burning smell in my house. I opened my dishwasher and smoke came out. The plastics were melted. The cabinet next to my dishwash smelt of burning as well. The detergent table sat partially dissolved on the bottom of the washer. It took 2 hours to cool down. My dishwasher no longer goes into a wash cycle (even after unplugging it overnight). I have left it unplugged as I feel it is no longer safe. GE says it is $80 for service plus parts. And they said that if I dont repair it, I get $100 certificate to use online to order another GE. Its not worth it and I am very upset. I replaced all my appliance in 2008 with GE. My dryer had to be repaired. My washer was a lemon and they swapped it out for a new model. And now my dishwasher died and almost burned my house down.

I had trouble from the beginning; the dishes came out hazy. When I called GE, they said to use the recommended detergent; I did. The dishes came out hazy and smelled like detergent. They messed around long enough with that and getting someone out to fix the controls, which did not work properly, until enough time lapsed and I could not get a refund. The dishwasher turned itself on after a power outage. It was not running when the power went out and was running non-stop for God knows how long before it was noticed. This happened at Thanksgiving time, and they had service out at 6 weeks so I had to do Thanksgiving dishes by hand. After that, they postponed for another 2 weeks. I got a replacement dishwasher, thanks to the Home Depot Manager. The dishes come out stinky and hazy; sometimes, there is visible soap residue on the glassware. I even ran the dishes through a second no detergent cycle and still had residue on the dishes. The controls do not work. We have to turn the power on and close the door 3 or 4 times before it will come on. We are afraid to leave the circuit breaker on when we leave as we are unsure if it will start on its own like the first one did. It is also the worst designed layout for loading any dishes. This is totally unacceptable as soap residue causes intestinal difficulties, and you should not have to be afraid that your dishwasher will take on a life of its own and start. I highly recommend you do not waste your money on this dishwasher. GE has extremely poor customer support. Home Depot support was great. This makes two GE Profile Dishwasher in less than a year and two strike outs. They will not get the chance for a third out. We are getting a KitchenAid.

I have purchased a GE microwave/convection oven 7 months ago. A month ago, the control panel broke down and it would not turn on. I called up customer service and a technician was sent after a week. They have diagnosed it and the motherboard needed to be replaced. The said part was ordered and I was told it would be delivered in 2-3 days and a service will be scheduled in a week. A week came and no parts showed up. I have called up customer advocate and they assured me the said part will be delivered in time for the service appointment.Unfortunately, when they came, the said parts have not been delivered and I was given the lame excuse of systems failure; the request has not gone through their system. So the technician assured me that he will put in an overnight request for the said parts and the oven could be fixed within the week. He even gave me his work and cell number for me to call if I have any inquiries. But he never picks up or even returns my calls. So another service appointment was scheduled and parts were delivered, only to find out that it was the wrong parts, supposedly for another customer and for a different microwave model. Its really frustrating when people keep on reassuring that they are going to get it done, but has done nothing but lip service. Its been over a month and my microwave is still a broken microwave. I have learned my lesson and will never again in my life time purchase a GE appliance. PS: I should have listened to the Home Depot guy that sold me this microwave.

Now, only two months since the fifth motor and mode selector was installed (Dec 2, 2011), the wiring harness is burnt up. The tech recommends replacement of the washer by GE, but only gets push-back from GE. This newest incident included a horrific smell of smoke. I do not trust this machine. I have a wife and child to protect. Think about it - do the math - add your costs for repeated repairs. You do not get to be a company the size of GE by not understanding simple economics. He then stated that he would order the parts and also stated that he did not have the correct tool to remove the motor and has not had one since they have changed the manufacturing process. At this time I am still waiting for the parts and I have contacted GE numerous times to find that the parts were either on back order or had been shipped out. In 2008, after waiting 30 years, we remodeled our kitchen using both a GE Range & GE OTR Microwave, model # JVM1850. Last week, it started making a loud noise when started and wont heat. From reading online it sounds like the magnetron went. Everything else, fan, turntable, lights inside and outside work, but wont heat. I called in for service to find that it would cost $89.95 to have them come out to diagnose it. Also read that a magnatron is between $150 - $200, and used to be warranted for 5 yrs. New GE microwaves only carry a 1 year total warranty. So they know they are supplying junk to us. Had to just bite the bullet and replace it. People cant afford for appliances to only last this long, at the price they are charging. I am not only upset at having to spend another $450 only 6 1/2 years later to replace a microwave that was lightly used, but GE has chosen to change the look as well, so it no longer will match the range it sits above. When I was remodeling, I read so much about matching appliances... not matched anymore. Totally disgusted.

We had purchased the first listed model of dishwasher (Model PTD7505SSF8SS) and installed it on Aug 27/16. It worked for a total of 13 days and broke down on Sept 9/16. After a good deal of phone tag - a technician looked at it and said no less than 3 internal components had failed, the unit needed to be replaced. We were without the unit from Sept 9/16 until Dec 23/17 when the new replacement unit (Model PTD845SSJOSS) was installed. It worked for a total of 20 days and broke down on Jan 12/17. More phone tag... Tech looked at it and found a number of issues (motherboard, door switch, etc...), in addition - it had been leaking water under the dishwasher for the time it was in service. (All 20 days! What a record!)When a dishwasher leaks upstairs... It doesnt go well for the drywall ceiling downstairs. (The rep at GE was cold and calculated informing me that is what insurance is for!) Im not sure that is what someone who spent $1,699.00 for a GE product (in good faith of a reputable product) expects to be told by the individual who has the ability to make things right? At any rate, this is what you can expect from the trained professionals at GE. When they finally got around to looking at my file... They decided to simply replace the motherboard in the hopes it will fix the leak also.I would have liked a refund at this point (not likely) so I requested yet another replacement (given the issue of water leaking), they absolutely refused. As of this date Feb 2/17 we are still without a dishwasher. Goes without saying - no more GE products will enter our home and I will share, with everyone I can, the caring and kind words of support I experienced from the top level at GE.

I recently purchased a GE Profile 1.9 microwave oven from Home Depot less than a year ago. Last week I went to remove something that I had cooked and went to close the door and it would not stay shut. I ended up getting some masking tape to try and tape it shut in order to keep the light from staying on and burning out until morning when I could get a better look at it, thinking that it had to be something small that could be taken care of without any problem. Hinge adjustment, something getting in the way that I couldnt see, etc, etc. Wrong! I have been over this door with a fine tooth comb and there is nothing that I can see that is preventing it from staying closed, not only that but according to everything that I have read, I am very lucky that I didnt get fried while trying to figure out if the latching mechanism was functioning correctly. I am not even going to go through the long drawn out process of dealing with GE over this due to the simple fact that I have been there done that with my dishwasher that showed up with the front panel dented a few years back from the factory and I ended up blaming the place that I had purchased it through instead of GE and have since found out by reading other complaints that this seems to be something that is not unusual when it comes to GE appliances. I spent over 1100.00 dollars on the dishwasher and they only replaced the panel instead of giving me a new one, and I have never been satisfied with the way that it operates, and it was a very long and drawn out process and I am just not willing to spend the time again on another one of their products. It is unfortunate that we have entered a time where customer satisfaction means nothing, and the days of caring about having repeat business from a satisfied customer are over. The prices continue to rise on the things that we have become to depend on and cant seem to live without, but the quality and workmanship have not only diminished but also present safety threats. I will never purchase another GE anything and I am looking forward to the day when we all have finally had enough of this and do something that makes these companies stand behind the products that they sell and quits ripping the consumer off. Its rampant across the board no matter what you buy, and there should be laws in place in order to keep it from happening. We have laws for everything else, why not have a couple that protect the consumer and their pocket books.

I purchased a GE Microwave oven, model #JVM1540DP1BB and, in seven months, the interior paint started peeling. I contacted the company and they said, go ahead and use it. It wont hurt anything. (Well, actually, it doesnt heat as well now.) They offered me a discount on another GE Microwave. I advised them that the oven was manufactured three months prior to my purchase and so the Microwave was only ten months from birth to death - it was also made in Malaysia and so was purchased practically straight off the boat - and should have been covered under warranty. The response to that was, Im sorry. Im only authorized... Fine. Let me talk to your boss, I said.I was connected to another company mouthpiece who promised to send a serviceman out to look at it. The next week, said serviceman did come to the house. He told me they could take it in and ...see if they could fix it or they could give me a discount on another one. Again I iterated that the microwave should be replaced at no cost. He flat out told me, They wont do that.My next fiasco with this danger trap was several months later when it started turning on of its own accord. So, we had to keep the oven unplugged at all times unless actively in use. I again contacted GE and was again advised that they would be happy to offer me a discount on another... blah, blah, blah. After a couple of years of using this machine, I called GE one last time. I spoke to the regional vice-president, Gary **. The response this time was truly mind-boggling. They had no record of my having called previously!!! But, after telling them I felt their product was inherently defective by design and, not only would I never purchase another GE product EVER, I have emptied my house of any and all GE products right down to the light bulbs, have purged my mothers house, and advise everyone I know of my experience, recommending they, too, do not patronize GE.He began repeatedly screaming at me, What do you want me to do? I told him that, two or three years previous, I wanted them to replace a defective microwave. Now, and following their abhorrent customer service, I wouldnt want anything from them and, if they were to tell me the sky was blue and water was wet, I would not believe them. I was not inclined to pay six hundred dollars yearly for a new microwave oven, so there was nothing they had I would ever want. I then pointed out that I purchased a Sony microwave for my mother when my grandson was six years old. Hes twenty-four now and both the id and the oven are still going strong. Then HE hung up on ME! I have noticed others here who have had similar experience with GE Microwaves so my recommendation to anyone considering a new microwave oven is to steer clear of GE at all costs. I only gave them a one star rating because I couldnt give them a negative star rating.

If you do start it, everything works, that is the table turns, light goes on and it cooks/warms food etc. Then it beeps when done, you open the door to remove items, close the door, and again just starts humming.I unplug it for an hour, but as soon as you plug back in, again.. Hums until you open the door. I put a cup of water in it, and just closed the door, did not push the start button. After about 40 seconds, the water started to boil.

I purchased the micro from Sears. This is the replacement for one that was provided by the builder. The G.E. now needs replacement. Will work for limited periods of time. I have used it more than my stove to cook chicken, beef and whole meals. I will be replacing it with a new G.E.. The current one has lasted more 10 years with very heavy use.

I bought a GE 1750 microwave in May 2011, which got caught on fire last March 2, 2012. Now, we have to go through all the hassles of having a repair tech come out and probably be without a microwave for months!
