I wish I could rate this dishwasher ZERO stars. I bought my first GE cafe series approximately 6 months ago and after the first week, there were three separate, unrelated problems. I called GE repair and the serviceman came out and said he fixed all the problems. He did not. I contacted the store where I bought it, and after contacted GE directly was able to get a brand new one. After two months, problems started again. Once again the repairman came out. Long story short - 2 months, and three sick days later (on my part) dishwasher is still not cleaning dishes thoroughly. I contacted GE several more times and they sent me some dishwasher cleaner and offered me a discount on a new GE dishwasher.... I will never purchase another GE anything and advise everyone else to do the same!

Purchased GE Dishwasher, Model GDF540HGD488. Its two or three years old and is junk. Top rack rails failing apart, bottom rack sliding rails have melted. Bottom sprayer has melted and wont stay on, incoming water has it bouncing on the bottom of the machine. As the heat dry is in it smells like melting or burning plastic. Dishes are NEVER clean and need re-washing. GE will do nothing, warranty off. Repairman says its just the type it is. Replacing it this weekend with a new Maytag, no way I would ever consider buying another GE product. Worst Dishwasher I ever owned.

We bought a GE cafe series microwave (model/serial number: pnm919sf1ss/gd235771b) and 4 months later it ceased to function. We just had a remodel and for the first time had an expensive, over the oven microwave and were very excited. Unfortunately, unlike the 2 cheap microwaves weve purchased in the last 36 years, this one we had used for 3 months total, developed problems. The motor seemed to surge and then it would go off. Half an hour later it came back on but would only work for about 5 minutes at a time. I called GE and they arranged for a local company to come take a look. They insisted on a 4 hour window and fortunately my husband is retired so he could be there. The repairman came and didnt have a clue as to what was wrong. He called his boss who talked him through diagnostics. After an hour he left, saying hed be back in a week with some new parts. Again we had to wait the 4 hour window. He came in and we were on pins and needles hoping he wouldnt scratch our cabinets as he took the unit down. He replaced the microwave component and when he left it worked. Two days later it again died. I called the repair people and they told me I had to call GE to get permission for another attempt at repair. I called GE and they said I had to call customer service to file a report. They told me I had to make an appointment for a technician to come out to see if the microwave could be repaired. Really??? The technician would try to repair it again or decide it couldnt be repaired and needed to be replaced. Like we have nothing better to do than wait for these repair people who have no clue as to how to repair the microwave. Every time they take down the microwave they risk ruining our cabinets. It was so unhelpful. I am really disappointed in GE customer service. We had to go out and buy a microwave to use while we were waiting for the repair. They obviously dont care that we cant use their expensive product. Our replacement microwave was $40 from Walmart and works beautifully. We finally complained to our WONDERFUL contractor who originally purchased the microwave for us and he is replacing it with a new one. He was appalled by GEs treatment. He takes note of appliances that are crap so he can warn customers. I thought I was buying from a reputable company and thinking we were getting a great and special product. Too bad.

Our new GE dishwasher is a disappointment. 1. There is water on the door after the dishes wash. 2. There is soap on the door after the dishes wash. 3. The silverware is often dirty after the dishes wash.I have observed the following: 1. The reason for the water is the silverware trays are made of plastic and do not dry. They should make them of coated wire like they used to. 2. The soap tray is often prevented from opening all the way by the silverware in the rack. They should re-design the bottom rack. 3. The silverware tray is too enclosed for good cleaning. It should be made of coated wire like they used to.

The WORST Customer Relations Department & GE Dishwasher EVER 1. Ordered dishwasher & Scheduled Delivery. 2. After my 4 hour window of waiting, I was called and informed the installation needed to be cancelled due to the installer calling in sick. 3. During installation, they dropped my dishwasher & dented the door. I rejected the dishwasher as my other one was already hauled out. 4. Due to my hectic work schedule, my dishwasher was installed about 2 weeks later. 5. Dishwasher was not cleaning. 6. Technician came out another week later and I was told it was MISSING parts from the manufacturing plant and should have never passed QC. In addition, It was missing the bottom spinner and the top spinner was snapped off. The technician glued it back on.7. Called Customer Relations to get the runaround saying, its not their fault it came from the manufacture missing parts. In closing, I own a large apartment complex and have many BUSINESS friends. I will NEVER buy a GE product EVER again and to think of all the people I know, Im going to share my horrid experience with everyone I know. This will make great conversation when golfing too.

It has been used frequently for over 5 years with no problems. It is easy to use and the food with this model (which has the rotating tray) heats the food evenly. No problems, functions with ease, and dependable.

I bought this replacement dishwasher based on its energy efficiency rating and recommendation of the salesman. Worst dishwasher I have ever had by far (in 27 years)! Salesman didnt know it doesnt have a water heater. It worked so poorly I had a company repairman to look at the dishwasher within a week of delivery. He recommended we run the sink water until boiling before turning it on, always use normal power, steam and boost settings. The cutlery is still often dirty - you have to scrub all food off the cutlery and rinse until clean before putting it into the dishwasher. A year later, the dishwasher is not nearly as quiet and a cycle takes 4 hours. Because of the design, this machine loads quite a bit less than my old dishwasher. Overall, I am sure this dishwasher uses way more energy and I use more cycles per week. I wouldnt take this dishwasher if they were giving them away for free!

Have owned, installed, and repaired many dishwashers throughout the years at various houses. This GE unit is by far worst dishwasher that I have ever had the displeasure to install and operate, and it replaces a Kitchen Aid unit that started a fire, see **. Specifically the GE unit had the control panel break off due to misalignment, requiring repair, the drain bulkhead fitting was poorly designed and caused a leak, requiring repair, the water solenoid valve failed in the 2nd year, and finally the door does not lock closed without significant care and attention to alignment and requires many attempts to lock closed for the start of cycle. This is the worst and I cant wait to pull it out and replace it.

We purchased a GE Profile Microwave with our GE Profile range in 2010. In 2016 we noticed an area on the bottom of the back wall that was peeling. It is in an area where nothing is rubbing or touching it. After taking photos and contacting GE customer service I was offered a discount on a replacement microwave. I expressed my concern that a new microwave might do the same thing--peel. I was told that the newer microwaves have a moisture resistant paint. The area that has peeled is much larger now than is shown in the attached photo taken in 2016. I expected my oven to last longer than 6 years; its a GE Profile and we take excellent care of our appliances.

In late March, we placed a service call under GEs one year warranty. The outcome - a gasket repair. Within a week or two, the door began to drip from both the right/left bottom. With having three teens, I figured someone opened the door and released some water. Well, that just wasnt the cause. Shortly over the next few days, the leak was consistent and I placed a service call to GE on 4/19. The customer representative offered, instead of a service call, to order some panels that fit it the bottom of the dishwasher. I stated clearly that our one year warranty was up on 4/25 and if this does not work, would GE address the issue with a service call? Answer was yes. Within a few weeks, I began to worry when I did not receive the panels. A call to GE was made; however, no documentation was noted of the call made on 4/19. However, GE stated the information might be in parts department, but regardless now, that call was made after one year warranty, extended warranty would fix the issue. Long story short, the extended warranty states problem initiated under GE and GE states the extended warranty is responsible because the call was made outside the one year warranty. I expressed that GE never fulfilled responsibility as GE did not even notify us that panels were not available for our unit. In the meantime, I am the one out of a working dishwasher. Now I know $539 may not be a lot to invest, but we feel the loss. The frustration and lack of responsibility to correct the repair is just beyond me. GE is responsible. Oh and did I share that lack of communication with GE is horrible? A promised call within 12-24 hours just doesnt happen. Again, I know most would say its not worth the frustration, but it makes me sad that GE and Assurant Warranty company can get away with what I know is wrong. Weve learned from this ordeal. No more GE products in our household.

I purchased a dishwasher and it doesnt dry the dishes. It leaves the dishwasher and the dishes wet. I was told they have a fix. However, nothing has been done. If you want wet dishes, dont buy. They told me to raise my water temperature on my hot water tank and to run my sink water until it goes hot. They told me to buy Rinse Aid. Well, I did it all and it still doesnt dry. This is an energy saver appliance. Ha, ha, its because they are saving energy at our expense.

I found out that there were 2 recalls on this product while sitting in the warehouse for sale, I guess I was lucky. 6 service calls later, still does not work properly and you want continue to charge me service calls for this disastrous dishwasher of 3 years. I have a GE over the range microwave oven purchased in 2011. 4 years old, hardly out of its service life. In 2013, while heating up my lunch, I heard a loud buzzing and popping noise. The plastic hooks that hold up a metal tray (yes, the unit comes with a metal tray) in the microwave oven caught fire. I called GE and demanded they repair the unit, they said they were not responsible since it was out of the warranty period. Having experience in the insurance industry, I reminded them about product liability, if this is a common occurrence, there would be potential liability issues for GE. The service tech said they would send someone out free of charge to repair the unit. He replaced the two hooks that fried and said they were no longer responsible for unit. Today, 01/28/15, we just had it happen again. One more hook caught fire. Hey GE, do you really think I will buy any kind of appliance from you again when you make a defective product and dont stand behind it? I will not. I would recommend people do your research carefully when buying a microwave oven, especially one from GE. I would recommend anyone do research when buying any kind of GE product since, in my opinion, they clearly do not care about their customers.

GE jvm1750sp1ss microwave - bought in 2010, less than 4 years old has stopped working. Lights are on, but when we hit the start button we hear a small pop and nothing else. The clock does work counting down but nothing else. I happen to love this microwave, it was a gift for my wife. It now no longer works and cannot afford a new one. Option 1: replace parts myself for 150.00. Option 2: call a technician for 200.00 plus parts or option 3: do without. Option 4: wait to afford a new one. I guess all things grow old but we should have enough history on these items to post a life span. Well a story like this usually falls on deaf ears but if someone is reading, make the suggestion on the life span or make the parts affordable. Thank you.

GE continually shows us why they are failing as a company. In just this last year I have replaced a less than 5 year old GE microwave, three separates parts to my GE monogram refrigerator, and now this one and a half year old dishwasher. The only appliance that GE makes that hasnt broken is the stove/oven that is over 10 years old and shows no signs of weakening.I purchased the upgraded stainless steel model that contained all the bells and whistles. It lasted 1 year and 3 months before the entire control panel stopped working. We utilized the dishwasher about once a week or once every two weeks in a two person household. Hardly a rough environment for a 700$ appliance. The repair costs was quoted for 99$ just to have GE look at it. The control panel was 140$, plus additional labor. This amounts to over 280$ to repair a year old product. I advise buying LG or Bosch.

I have a GE Triton. We started a load of dishes before going to bed. When we woke up in the morning there was a terrible burning plastic smell. The dishwasher was stuck on, and ran all night. It wouldnt turn off, so we unplugged it. We are lucky that it didnt catch the house on fire. NEVER go to sleep with your dishwasher running. All the stuff you see at the bottom is plastic that dripped down. It melted the bottom of the silverware rack, and some silverware fell down to the bottom where the plastic handles of the knife handles melted. There is brown residue, so I think it did start to catch fire. Thank goodness we woke up early.

My husband and I bought a GE dishwasher from Nebraska Furniture Mart in April 2011. We installed it in our new home in May 2011. It has never cleaned our dishes properly. Our dishes come out of the dishwasher with a film on them and do not look clean at all. I called GE in July. They sent out a repair person who proceeded to tell me that we were not cleaning our dishes well enough. The person also told me that our water wasnt hot enough, we didnt clean our dishwasher out often enough, etc. After I corrected everything, the repairman suggested our dishwasher still wasnt working properly. So, we called GE back. We have since had two additional repair men out. Neither one has been able to repair the dishwasher. The last repairman replaced a valve he thought might be broken. However, it is still working the same. I am absolutely disgusted with the experience I have had with GE.

Greetings fellow GE Appliances fans! I suppose youre all wondering why I gathered you here, so let me first say this wasnt Plan A, which was to give GE Appliances a quiet and fair opportunity to set things right. After all it is Easter and we should all be grateful for second chances or, in GEs case, fifth chances. Now about halfway through the below some of you are going to wonder why I didnt switch to another brand sooner, but Ive saved that answer for the end because, quite frankly, its the absolute best part of the story. And since most stories have a hero Ill tell you why The Home Depot, where we purchased the GE dishwasher, is the hero of this tale.On Feb 16, 2019 I purchased a new GE Dishwasher which was installed by GE. It subsequently overflowed causing approximately $18,000 in damage to the wood floors in our kitchen and our basement ceiling. GEs technician confirmed the cause was a defective factory drain pump and documented that GE was responsible for the damage. I was instructed to contact Sedgwick, their insurance claims administrator. Well have more on that later. On March 9 I received a 2nd GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect and subsequently overflowed and caused additional damage to our home. I hired an independent plumber who confirmed the installation and home plumbing were fine and that it was, in fact, a defect with the dishwasher. On March 15 I received a 3rd GE dishwasher, however it was damaged during shipment so GE was unable to install. On March 22 I received a 4th GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect, but we caught it in time to prevent another overflow. On April 3 I received a 5th (yes, 5th) dishwasher which worked once (or so we thought) but as it turned out also had the drain defect. We caught it in time to prevent another overflow. We also had an independent plumber confirm (again) there were no issues with the installation or our home plumbing. This included disconnecting the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal and pointing it into a bucket. The dishwasher simply would not drain. At this point youre probably thinking how stupid it was for me to keep requesting replacements from GE and you would be correct...which brings me to my favorite part of the story. You see, even though GE refused to switch me to an entirely different GE model dishwasher line despite multiple requests, they promised to compensate us for our inconvenience which would take into account how long we went without a dishwasher (approaching two months now), how much work I missed (numerous vacation days) due to installation and repair appointments, and warned me that if I switched to another brand that their policy was to not compensate.I cant tell you how much they repeatedly emphasized the compensation aspect, so when we finally received what we thought was a working dishwasher I called to request compensation. Their offer was (drum roll...) $25.00. I literally laughed out loud (LLOLd). To be fair, after expressing some slight dissatisfaction with their offer, they raised it some but its not worthy of an additional drum roll.Fast forward to today (Apr 21, 2019) and we still have a defective GE dishwasher in our home and are still washing dishes by hand which, for a family of four, is no small daily task. GE was actually supposed to remove the dishwasher from our home yesterday, but arrived and said they couldnt because our replacement dishwasher (a Bosch...we gave up on GE) had not arrived. They already knew this before they came because: 1. We told them and; 2...wait for it...THEY were the ones supposed to deliver and install it. Weve been courteous, patient, and have done everything GE asked, but have been treated very poorly in return. I will say that most, but definitely not everyone I spoke with at GE Appliances, was polite however none of them seemed to be empowered to truly help us.As for Sedgwick (GEs insurance claims administrator): were still waiting for them to pay for the approximately $18,000 in damage to our home. Our wood floors are turning black and theres now a musty smell in our finished basement. Its been approximately 52 days and Im starting to doubt theyre ever going to pay for the damage to our familys home.Im sure some of you will say youve had GE products for years with no problems, so let me say that Im genuinely happy for you. We were, and somewhat reluctantly still are, a GE family. The last three custom homes weve built, including our current home, all had GE appliances by choice. But in the last five years weve had the original dishwasher in our brand new home break in just three years (heating element) which is what started this replacement debacle, the fan motor on our brand new refrigerator break in just four years costing us several hundred dollars in groceries and a $200 repair bill (and its starting to make the same loud noise again so may fail again soon), and a glass defect in the microwave within two years of purchase. As for the hero of this story, The Home Depot, I simply cant say enough good things about the store and their management team. Even though this was not their fault they apologized, agreed to switch us to another dishwasher brand, and paid the difference in price (even though we volunteered to pay the difference ourselves). They made it clear we were valued and said you are our customer and we are going to help you.GE must have known The Home Depot would do this, because GE is the one who told us to call and suggested The Home Depot might do something for us...something GE apparently wasnt willing to do themselves. For now it seems that GE Appliances not only mistreated our family, but The Home Depot as well. Im not suggesting that you should or should not buy GE appliances, but IF you do and IF its defective and IF it damages your home then buckle up. It may be a long, painful, and stressful ride with no end in sight.

I purchased my GE Microwave about a year and a half ago. It has served me with flying colors till yesterday. To explain, I was boiling a small plastic pan of water for some rice. I have done this many times in the past. In the middle of the cooking cycle I heard a loud bang from the microwave. I stopped the cooking cycle and opened the door. To my surprise the glass turntable had shattered into several pieces. I cleaned out all the broken glass and tested the microwave. It seems to be working perfectly with the exception of the glass turntable. A new one was ordered. No further action is required. This is just an information for GE.

I bought this over the range microwave in 2009 to go with my other Cafe appliances (dishwasher and range). After a few months, it stopped working and ge sent a repairman to fix it under warranty. He took it apart, replaced the touchpad panel, but told me that the old panel was still good and that I could keep it for the future in case I needed it. And I did. It stopped working a year ago. I took the whole machine apart, put in the original touchpad, and it worked. Until about a week ago. I went away on the Fourth, and when I returned 3 days later, I had the same problem for the third time. I just called ge service and was told that the replacement for the touchpad is $600. When I started to say that I could buy two Microwaves for that amount, the ge service person cut me off and asked if she could help me with anything else. Rude. In addition to this, the Cafe Range ($3000) has three unusable knobs because they were made of cheap PLASTIC and are cracked. They just spin and turn nothing on. When the third one broke, my wife had turned on the power boil and was unable to turn it off until I came home 2 hrs later. A huge FIRE HAZARD!! To replace the six knobs is, you guessed it, $300. I could buy an inexpensive stove for that. I have purposely used ge in lower letters because that is the way I feel about their appliances and their service.

On 05/04/2014, our GE microwave over the stove unit burst into flames. My wife was sitting in our family room and heard the microwave fan start (spontaneously). Then she observed flames reflected in the kitchen window. When she went to the kitchen, she observed the interior of the microwave was aflame. The fire was extinguished with a spray bottle of water. The burning items appeared to be insulation. The fan from the microwave was with the burning insulation on the rotating plate.

GE Dishwasher model #GDF610PSJ5SS stopped working (would not even turn on) a little over 3 months. Because it was purchased over a year ago for a spec home we purchased, GE would not honor the warranty even though we had only purchased the home 3 months prior. Repair, if possible, most likely would be more than buying a new one. Recommend avoiding GE products. This is our 5th home, never had problem with other brands in previous homes!

I am a licensed master plumber. I do a fair share of high end kitchen installs, I noticed that in the last 5 years that all GE dishwashers I installed had a whole lot of extra parts to be installed by the installer. For example. Today I uncrated and tried to roll a GE dishwasher I got 6 and a drip tray fell out. Then when I went to install the dishwasher in the cabinet I had to install 4 different rubber flanges. When I went to push the dishwasher in the flanges came loose and hindered the install. The the insulation jacket kept binding up. The last 10 of these GE dishwashers I have installed the dishwasher appears to be racked or not square. I had to tell the General Contractor that I dont want to install the GE dishwashers any more. Way too much trouble. I have much better luck and ease of installation with Miele and Bosch. The GE dishwasher are very frustrated to install. Bob Licensed Master Plumber since 1982Richmond VA

Ahhhh me, here we go again! Its no wonder that the state of business in this country is not as solid as it could be. I purchased your GE dishwasher, Model #GDF540HSF2SS, Serial # ZA703816B, on 01/19/2014 from Lowes Home Centers, 3805 Northern Blvd., Rio Rancho, NM 87124. It was delivered and installed soon after. Soon after that, mid to late July, it began to flood our kitchen. A service call had to be made to replace the tub gaskets. Covered under initial 1 year warranty. Here it is the 5th of November, 2015 and now the unit does not function at all. A service diagnostics call performed today the 6th of November to ascertain its ailment to the tune of $89.00! (No, we didnt purchase the Extended Warranty. My belief has always been that the option to purchase an extended warranty is; 1) an opportunity for the company to make extra money on the sales of a product, and 2) an admission by the manufacturer that the product is probably not well made and will probably break down sometime in the near future!) I guess that future is here for this product! It almost lasted 2 YEARS!! Deplorable! The last dishwasher I had was almost 20 years old and the only service to it was to replace a water hose (which I did myself). Diagnostics proved that the electronic motherboard failed! In addition to the inconvenience and the $89.00, Id be willing to bet that the replacement part for this unit will cost 1/2 of the original purchase price of $599.00! AND I WAS CORRECT; the replacement board will cost $269.00 to replace (part and labor)!!! What a rip-off! I will never purchase another GE product as long as I live! And I will go online and register my opinion and complaint about this product with the Consumer Services Bureau and any place else that I can find to vent electronically!Recently the Sandoval Economic Alliance attempted to lure GE to establish their Headquarters here in New Mexico. For various reasons, we did not make GEs shortlist for consideration. I am thankful that we didnt make it! Why would our state want such a crappy company embarrassing our state with their crappy products? I will be sending a copy of this complaint to them as well.

We have had our GE Advantium for 4+ years and the paint has started to peel off the inside of the door. We have an extended warranty with Home Depot but they deem this a cosmetic issue which is not covered. The cost to replace the door (part only) is about $260. Not sure self-painting is safe. I read here that we are not alone in GE microwave paint peeling off inside their microwaves, in general. Has there been any recall or calls action against them for this shoddy product? We love having this microwave/oven but feel like we got hosed by GE and Home Depot.

We bought all GE Profile appliances for our kitchen when we bought our home in 2013. Since then every appliance has had issues and have replaced parts on. The biggest disappointment was the dishwasher. It doesnt clean since day one. We bought extended warranty and had numerous service calls since we bought it through ABT appliances. Not to mention the dishwasher alone was $1000. We literally have to wash the dishes with hands because this dishwasher is only for show in our kitchen. I called GE consumer relation and they tried selling me another one with a discount for $950. What a joke. Will never recommend or buy GE products.

I had a new house build and it came with all GE appliances. The dishwasher Model GDT530PSD255 was not drying the dishes and the run time could be as much as 3 hours. The service man was there with in week. He said the dishwasher was working properly. After running through the cycles he said its working just fine. I open the door and it was all wet and the silverware tray and the silverware was wet and some soap was still on the door. He said everybody complains about the same thing. High efficiency Dishwasher have long run cycles and most dont dry to well. The silverware trays hold water because the tray sides are flat (horizontal) and that holds about a half of cup of water. All they have to do is put them on a 45 degree angle and the water will run off. Apparently it worked well on paper and no one actually ran it through its cycle. Needless to say I hate this dishwasher and its almost at the point to do them by hand. A lot of time is spent drying off dishes and silverware.

Ive had this stainless steel GE Dishwasher model GDF645SMONES with the controls in the front for nearly a year. The dishwasher constantly comes on with the slightest accidental touch. However the buttons that control the cycle settings are extremely difficult to operate to cancel the lock or delay hours features. I have to literally bang on the buttons to get a response. My thumbs are now sore from the constant pushing to cancel that lock and delay features that came on accidentally. Once locked, good luck in canceling anything. Im so disgusted with this $600 dishwasher. Complaints to GE and the so-called warranty company that turned out to be one and the same, have fallen on deaf ears from the day I got it. I owned a previous GE dishwasher 4 years ago and would give it excellent ratings. I bought a newer top of the line version when I purchased a new home. It simply fails to clean dishes. Wet food that any dishwasher would remove, remained on the dishes. The drying cycle never dried the dishes. We have to hand wash the dishes now and have stopped using the dishwasher after 3 days of ownership because of health hazard. I called Lowes about this within days of the install. Lowes sent out the installer who claimed the machine was installed properly. Then Lowes scheduled a GE repairman to come to the home. We waited all day for him to arrive for a morning appointment. He never came. Lowes stepped up and is replacing the dishwasher with a non-GE product. I would not touch a GE product again given the lack of service and commitment to their product. I feel confident with Lowes, but not with GE - their ethics from engineering, manufacturing and servicing are very suspect with us.

There was a recall on my fairly new dishwasher. The heater was causing fires. The repairman came and said I had to remove my ceramic tiles in front of the dishwasher for him to pull it out. I called customer service and a Tina offered to reimburse me $200 to have someone remove the tiles and pull the dishwasher out. I paid a handyman $250 in cash to have it done, called GE and they sent a man to fix it. I called again for my $200 and explained their man fixed it. They now wanted a bill from my floor man. I sent the bill and they refused to pay because the bill did not say paid. I called and asked them how their repair person could have fixed it if the floor had not have the tile removed and the dishwasher pulled out for him. I said, Ask your repair person to verify that the tile was removed. The answer was they couldnt ask him. I sent the bill again with a note saying paid in cash, a picture of the floor and a picture of me - a 74-year-old woman with a note saying it was impossible for me to have ripped up the ceramic tile and backer board myself. Again, I got a reply that the receipt that I sent was not acceptable and the case was closed.

I have used 4 dishwashers of various brands in my house over the past 30 years. The current one is a new GE dishwasher (Model No: GDT695SSJ0SS), which is by far the worst. The dishwasher never dry, no matter which cycle I choose. When it is done (green light on) water still flowing down everywhere inside - on the door, on dishes, at the bottom. When I called GE customer service it said I have to use rinse agent in order to get it dry. Of course that means we have to constantly buy that additional product (made by a GE subsidiary?).For those who dont remember this, our old dishwashers did not required the use of additional product and still dried dishes perfectly. GE is apparently producing products of lower quality, yet the repairman sent by GE claimed that this model is their best ever. Really? Is this company so arrogant that it pays no attention to the convenience of its customers? Since the repairman found no defect with the machine (even though it does not dry), GE refused to accept either a replacement or a return. From design to functions to price this is indeed a lousy machine. Ill never purchase another GE product again.

Tells us a new one costs $400 and with a coupon he can give us it will be $100 less. We were charged $99 for this visit which basically lasted 10 minutes (way to go GE on making money off faulty devices you sell). The service-person also told us that the average life was 10 years for these, but this one crapped out in 3. After many searches trying to do due diligence, we bought a GE dishwasher online Nov 2014. It was delivered and installed two weeks later. The day (Saturday) after delivery we loaded it and started the cycle; water went in, the circulation pump started and then the machine stalled. The machine was reset pumped out, restarted but no further improvement.Called the GE service number and after a 20 minute wait was informed that a request would be placed to a local service company. Monday the local service company (30 miles away) called to inform us they had to reject the service request and that GE would set up another. Three days later GE was called again. They were unaware that the service request was rejected so had not attempted to find someone else. They could not get another company to respond and told us to arrange the service call ourselves, pay the bill and submit it to them.My wife and I are now wanting to return the machine but were informed we would have to go through the local Home Depot. They informed us that we would need to have GE arrange it. GE was called back and informed us that the dishwasher could not be returned as long as it could be repaired which leaves it to their discretion. The process to arrange these things took a long time, many delays and many phone calls back and forth to Home Depot and GE. The calls to GE often took 15 minutes to get someone who would forward the call to the service rep which placed back in another 15 minute queue. Do not believe that Home Depot will take returns. The advertising makes you believe they will take but they do not without GEs RGA which GE is reluctant to provide. Avoid GE. I am not the first to find out that GE warranty (one year) and service is poor and that they are more than willing to wait out the warranty to leave their customers with a possible lemon. Other dishwashers are available with 5 year warranties.

I purchased my machine in 2019. The only concern I have with this machine is that I’m never sure of the amount of water that fills the tub with some features that I’m not used to. The tub on this machine enables me to wash very large loads including my queen size quilt. After washing, my clothes are practically dried which cuts down on my electric bill for the dryer. The drain and spin feature allows for a drier finish. Everything else is good. As long as you’re using the right soap the clothes are the cleanest.

This is ok service until something serious happens then all of a sudden you dont get any call backs and stall tactics and simply dont listen. My mother bought expensive GE Profile dishwasher with 5 year bumper to bumper warranty that means nothing, I cant get through, tried to send form there no way to send it just a clear button??? Its supposed to be at least in contact within 48 hours to 72 hours. I have given them extra time due to Covid but I BEGINNING TO BELIEVE THAT IS JUST ANOTHER EXCUSE FOR THEIR TARDINESS. Technician that was sent told me it was the electric and I needed to have an electrician fix the fuse. Electrician came out and said it had electric, that it was the dishwasher that failed. Next technician fixed it and said the electronic panels get confused. Three days off of work. December, 2016 the dishwasher failed again. Had no dishwasher throughout the holidays. They scheduled service technician and then cancelled because the one technician they had was out sick.Today, January 9th, they called to let us know they were on the way, but never called the number they were supposed to, so now we are totally taken off the schedule. Ive been on hold and disconnected three times and now have been on hold for one hour and 6 minutes. DONT BUY GE APPLIANCES - Terrible service and crappy appliances that dont work. We built a new home in 8/19. Much to our dismay, the builder only offered GE appliances. We had a bad experience with a GE appliance in the past so we went with the most expensive offered, the Profile series. Nine months into our new home, the microwave push button to open the door broke (with food stuck inside). I was only able to schedule an appointment through an automated system. Days later, repairman breaks door trying to get food out. Parts were ordered and new date was set for one week later. Day before that appointment, I got a call canceling my appointment due to the part being on backorder. The entire call took 57 minutes. New appointment was set for an additional week. Again, appointment canceled and part was ordered from third party. Third appointment was a repeat yet again (but without a call and with repairman showing up). The rep did say she would send $70 for us to buy a small microwave while waiting. We are now at three weeks without our microwave being fixed and I have spent HOURS on hold trying to get to a resolution. Last representative asked why I even made an appointment if I didnt have the parts. What!! They have scheduled the appointments. I asked to talk to a supervisor but then was told it would be 24-48 hours before someone could call me back. The rep said this is the timeframe they quote for a callback but she didnt know when anyone would actually call. No idea how much longer we will have to wait-it seems we are at their mercy. When buying new appliances in the future, we will ask who services their warranty! Either way, we will never buy GE appliances again.

I needed a microwave, and researched a lot of brands, some the buttons quit working, others sparked. Found this GE on sale at Lowes about 4 years ago for $29.00 and so far I am very happy with it. I must admit it is a little big, but it works beautifully. It does fit on the counter, so for its size and the price it is a great deal!!!

I work as a service tech for a major insurance company. I am a master tech, and master electrician. The company that I work for owns an apartment complex which is used to house company executives whose offices are located at other sites, but often come to the Chattanooga Site to work short term. I was called to repair an old dishwasher in one of the apartments. Upon looking at the existing dishwasher, I decided to replace with a new one. I received a new GE model GDF 510 PGD 1WW dishwasher on November 8, 2013. As usual I unpackaged the appliance and examined the exterior. Finding no visible damage, and with the help of a master plumber, I removed the old dishwasher, and installed the new one. After all the connections were made, I opened the door, removed all the packaging from the dishwasher, and found the upper spray arm lying in disarray in the bottom of the machine. Assuming that this was the way that the machine was packaged, I installed the spray arm, plugged the machine up and started the machine as the operations manual instructed. The machine would not work. The power lamp would burn solid for a few seconds and start flashing. I tried to start the machine a number of times while reading the instructions, and while my partner read the instructions aloud, but with no results. Finally, I used a screwdriver to hold the door switch closed, pressed the start button and the unit started. The catch mounted on the door would not make the door switch, mounted on the machine body. We tried to adjust the switch and the catch, but with no success. The dishwasher did not show any signs of exterior shipping damage, but for some reason the upper spray arm was off and lying in the bottom of the unit, I found a small piece of broken plastic and a screw in the bottom of the machine, and the door switch would not make. Outside that I have no complaints. I am not sure where this machine was assembled, but it certainly was not equal to the machine that we removed. Thanks GE for making my job harder. I will have to find another dishwasher Monday and replace the damaged one, and perhaps send this one back, but the replacement will certainly be another brand.

We have a GE profile dishwasher for about 14 months. I just found out last week that its out of warranty and that the 2 circuit boards inside are bad so the tech came out and didnt have a replacement board on his truck saying they never have problems with this dishwasher so hell order this part and be shipped to my house. He would install it on the following Thursday so Im sitting here waiting for service. I finally called to find out that GE decided that it is going to be repaired on Friday. I did not know this of course so I asked for a supervisor. I was put on hold with no answers, finally hung up in disgust.

While heating a bowl of butter, my microwave arced. Microwave had smoke and electric fire smell. I have contacted GE. They said it was a rare issue. From the reviews on this site, I do not believe that this is a rare issue. They offered a 25 dollar coupon to buy another one. I do not believe I would do that. GE has had microwave recalls in the past due to fire hazard. I have registered a concern with the Consumer Products Safety Commission.

We purchased a new home in 2014 with all new GE appliances. The dishwasher has never cleaned the dishes. I have to wash the dishes before I load them in the dishwasher. I might as well use the dishwasher as a drying rack. We had a service person come out before the warranty expired. We have used all of the proper cleaning recommendations and setting per the service person. Not even 2 years later, the dishwasher started leaking and ruining our hardwoods. The dishwasher was quiet but then started making a horrible noise and a burning smell emanated when door was opened. Unfortunately all of our kitchen appliances are GE. If we replace any of the appliances, they will not be GE. I will also be getting in touch with the builder of our home to let them know that GE appliances are not reliable. GE needs to recall this dishwasher.

We recently purchased our second dishwasher in 16+ years (the other one (a Kenmore) is still running fabulously but staying with the sale of our former home - however I am tempted to swap it out with this new one from GE). This beautiful inside and out dishwasher has a couple main flaws that has me wanting my old dishwasher back. The buttons on the front are super sensitive, causing it to come on countless times a day as we get items out of cabinet above. This is not something we thought about. Our old one had the controls on the front but they were under plastic that you pushed... not actual buttons like this one.The second issue is minor. The rack on the bottom is set up very wide on one side and our dinner plates are smaller than some and they do not sit firmly in between the tines. The spacing is great for larger plates or serving items but not for medium size plates. We use a lot of bowls so the other side with closer together tines is always full. Like I said just a minor flaw. Lastly, the unit puts off a high-pitched sound during certain parts of the cycle. It is not really loud but it is bothersome if we are still in the kitchen when it is running.

However, the GE Monogram Microwave ($499 at Best Buy) broke down 17 months later, a few days before Thanksgiving 2015. GE claimed it was out-of-warranty, and I would have to pay $99 to have a technician look at it, and would charge for repairs. We are stuck with the GE Monogram Microwave as it is a built-in unit and our cabinet is built around it. So we went and got a new one from Best Buy. When the new one came and when we removed it from the box, it had a large dent in it - a very large one. It clearly indicates a shoddy QC job, as the unit should not have left the factory with such an obvious dent. We asked BEST BUY to replace it, but a new one is not going to come till after Christmas. So it was 2 strikes against GE Microwave ovens for me.We spoke to GE and they were not very sympathetic, and amazingly did not even apologize for the inconvenience caused!! They just stuck to their out-of-warranty mantra, which I understand. But then the occurrence of a second event with another GE Microwave, and the inconvenience of sending back a big dented one was also not acknowledged or perhaps even understood by their CS representative. So it is strike 3 against GE Appliances for me.I would never recommend GE microwaves and was totally disappointed with the Customer service of the GE Appliance division. I also have GE Cooktop and two GE wall ovens and shudder to think what will happen if they should break down. Just sharing a sad experience that holds some lessons for me and my family and friends. (Rethink buying GE Appliances.)

Model #JVM1790SK01. High end GE Profile microwave/convection oven. Purchased and installed in 2009. First off the exhaust fan is terrible and is very noisy. The product itself worked well until recently when now the microwave heats intermittently, one time it will come on and heat, next time nothing. The fan runs, but no heating. The truly frustrating part is I need the front venting and no other units have the vents that blow the air outward, all the new units blow the air straight up your cabinets. Certainly a high end unit should last longer than 5 years with only two adults using it now and then. The cost of the service is outrageous and I surely would not use the $100 rebate on another GE product if they do not last any better than this one.

Five years ago I purchased a brand-new condo w/ a GE Nautilus dishwasher installed. This machine has NEVER worked right. Issues: 1. The detergent cup that closes, consistently gets stuck shut, hence only half of the detergent gets dispensed and a second cycle is usually needed to get the dishes cleaner. 2. Dishes are never really clean. Theres always at least one dish that has something left over on it, but its usually multiple dishes. 3. Lower rack started rusting out after 3 years of very light use (used approx 3-4 times a month). Loud. Louder than my washing machine. 4. Replacement parts are ridiculously expensive. A new lower rack is approx $100. My condo also came with a GE refrigerator. It too is junk. Never again...

I recently had a service tech out to repair my dishwasher. Before I knew it, he was opening the unit and found a tube looking piece stuck in the unit. He was at my house for 15 minutes and the bill was over $250. He should have asked if I was okay with the procedure he was going to perform and the cost before proceeding. To make matters worse, the dishwasher is not cleaning dishes now. I sent a prior email to GE a couple of weeks ago with no response. I would have never spent this money if I had been given the option and certainly now I have been charged for a repair that actually made my unit worse than before since it is not cleaning the dishes like it did before the repair. I respectfully requested that my money be refunded and/or be given a credit towards the purchase of a GE appliance and have received no response. I tried calling and have been on hold for over 30 minutes now with no one picking up, despite the fact that hold time stated estimated wait time was 5 minutes.

Im just beginning the process of investigating this dishwasher I bought that doesnt work. I am a snowbird so this machine has only been used part time for a family of 2. We installed it March 2010 and it’s October 2013. But during that time frame weve only used it approx. 3 months in 2010, 7 months in 2011 and 7 in 2012 and 5 months in 2013. I noticed a smell of something burning before we left in May but thought it was something from the outdoors. So blew it off and left. When we returned last week, we discovered that the water wouldnt fill up but the heat would come on..... even if you turned off the heat feature!!!! And it gets hot. Weve unplugged it and was going to call GE repair tech until I read these reviews. Now I dont know what to do because its not under warranty.

The outer kit is plastic and shows fingerprints like crazy as well as the microwave itself! Im always wiping it off. I bought the Cafe dishwasher model #CDT855P2NS1, for $995, it arrived defective with the wrong size parts inside causing the door to not shut properly (as inspected by GE repairman). This was over 4 months ago. Since then I have been told to call every two weeks to see when a replacement model would be available in the warehouse (each of this calls required sitting on hold for over an hour). Despite having many of this model dishwasher for sale on the GE website, I have been told for over four months to call back in two weeks, because none are available at the warehouse and this is the only place you can source them from. Now I am being offered the price I paid for the dishwasher despite the exact replacement now costing $1,277, from the same place as the previous one was ordered from. This doesn’t include the $149 to install the new dishwasher to replace the defective one that was initially installed, which I am being told will not be reimbursed. I just want to warn everyone about not purchasing this product or expecting any support from GE.

I purchased a GE over-the-range microwave in 2008. After 3 years, the magnetron went out and the microwave stopped heating. I called GE repair, and they told me it would cost over $300 to fix - close to the cost of a new microwave. Stupidly, I bought another GE microwave in August 2011, model JVM1750DP1BB. In the one year Ive had it, it has broken 4 times. One time, it was the magnetron (seems like a common problem). Another time it was the motherboard. Another time, it was a bad wiring problem. Each time, I called the GE repair service, and it takes 1-2 weeks to get an appointment. Twice, they cancelled my appointment on the day because they overbooked. Given that I had to take time off work for the appointments, this is a huge inconvenience. I have been waiting over this last time for an appointment, after they again cancelled my scheduled appointment. GE makes a terrible product, and their repair service is a joke. Coincidence or not but after posting my review, threatening to get the attorney general involved, putting pressure on local GE distributor through the builder, we have received a replacement dishwasher. This is not a happy ending yet unfortunately. The installer who delivered the unit was filling in for someone who took a day off and was not familiar with complete process. He came to our house at 9am and left at 2:20pm after spending hours reading instructions and maps on how to put things together. The new unit works okay for now but does have a slow drip from the upper left corner. This has been an extremely frustrating battle and we are now more worried about what happens after the warranty runs out if problems continue. One option is to buy extended warranty and give GE more business, second is just to replace it with more reliable brand. I am giving GE two more stars for replacing the problem unit but we are still hurt from the entire process, especially after buying top of the line product. We truly feel that customer service people should have been more sensitive and understanding of the consumer instead of firing back. Their bad attitude really did not help and added more frustration.
