How to Diagnose a Dryer Problem?
Posted On: June 14, 2021

Have you noticed that your dryer hasn't been working the way it should? Are your clothes still coming out damp even after they've been in the dryer for a long time? Before you call someone to inspect it, here are a few ways to diagnose the problem yourself.

  1. Dryer doesn't start: If your dryer doesn't start after you press the button, there are a few reasons for this, such as the door latch isn't connecting, no power due to a blown fuse or circuit breaker, and if you have a push knob it could be getting stuck due to a build-up of dirt or lint.
  2. Clothes are taking forever to dry: The reason for your clothes taking a long time to dry is most likely due to a build-up of lint in both the lint trap and the outside exhaust vent. Once you clean it, your clothes should be coming out dry. Another reason your clothes aren't drying is the size of the load. If the load is too large, try making it lighter by removing some of the heavier items. You should also check to make sure your dryer is getting enough circulation.
  3. Dryer noises: If you find your dryer is making a lot of noise, check to see if it's level, look for any small items such as coins and buttons in the drum and if any balled-up clothes are banging against the drum.
