Heat Pump Error Codes

Rheem heat pumps may use error codes to help diagnose and troubleshoot issues. The specific error codes can vary depending on the model and type of your Rheem heat pump. It's crucial to refer to your heat pump's user manual or technical documentation for accurate information about error codes.

Here are some general Rheem heat pump error codes and their potential meanings. Keep in mind that these are generic examples, and your specific model may have different codes:

P: High-Pressure Switch Open (HP) - Indicates a high-pressure condition that may require attention. This could be due to issues such as a refrigerant overcharge, blocked condenser coil, or a faulty high-pressure switch.

LP: Low-Pressure Switch Open (LP) - Indicates a low-pressure condition that may be caused by issues such as low refrigerant levels, a refrigerant leak, or a faulty low-pressure switch.

F: Defrost Control (DFC) - Indicates a problem with the defrost control. This could be related to issues with the defrost thermostat, defrost control board, or sensors.

H: High-Pressure Sensor Fault (HPF) - Indicates a fault with the high-pressure sensor. This could be caused by issues such as a malfunctioning sensor or a high-pressure condition.

L: Low-Pressure Sensor Fault (LPF) - Indicates a fault with the low-pressure sensor. This could be caused by issues such as a malfunctioning sensor or a low-pressure condition.

C: Open Circuit or Sensor Fault (OSF) - Indicates an open circuit or sensor fault. This could be related to various sensors within the heat pump.

Other Codes: There may be other codes specific to your model, and their meanings will be outlined in the user manual.

Always refer to your specific model's documentation for accurate information about error codes and their meanings. If you encounter an error code on your Rheem heat pump, it's advisable to consult the user manual first. The manual typically includes a troubleshooting guide that may provide steps to address common issues associated with specific error codes. If you're unable to resolve the problem or if the issue persists, it's recommended to contact Rheem customer support or a qualified HVAC technician for assistance. They can provide accurate diagnostics and perform any necessary repairs.

We had our water heater replaced in Dec 2020 with a Rheem Performance 40 gal that was manufactured in July of 2020. August 13th 2021 the S.I.T. valve went bad, so I contacted Rheem on Monday August 16th as it was a manufacturer warranty issue. Rheem was quick to provide a replacement part and tell me they would schedule a technician. Three days later no part, no technician, no hot water. I called back and this time was told the first service rep had misspelled information and they would fix it and get things sent, but they had no technicians in my area so I could pay a plumber myself and submit it for eventual reimbursement. At this point I was losing patience, the following Monday August 23, we had now been without hot water over a week, but now I had replacement parts, but plumbers in the area werent willing to work on Rheem products and the ones that were were over priced. We are on a fixed income and thanks to other repairs and safety upgrades our savings was nearly gone.I contacted over 22 plumbers and finally just called Rheem back and told them they needed to send a technician because no one wanted to touch their product, if I had still been able to I would have gone to the basement and done it myself. The person showed no empathy so I asked for a supervisor and was put on hold for about 40 minutes, when I finally got the supervisor and was going over this whole thing I glibly remarked,I mean you guys obviously knew you were send out bad units, you have a line dedicated to the specific issue. To which the supervisor (Chris) surprisingly responded, Yes we know. This company knowingly send out bad units, to be installed in homes, offices, daycares... what if the valve had gone bad the other way and not shut off? It could have blown the tank, because relief valves fail more commonly than you would expect. This is a bad company operating on bad policy and in bad faith.

We bought the 30 gallon water heater March 3, 2021 and was installed the next day. The tank started large amounts of water from all over the tank. We had to turn off the water supply since we could not get it to stop leaking. I thought Rheem was a good brand but I am finding out that it is not. To top it off I have tried calling their help phone line 6 times and each time I just get disconnected the last 2 times I called. The first time I called 800-621-5622 the calls never picked up, never went through or the recording said there would be a 1 hour and a half wait. Not very good customer service! We need help and a new water heater. It should last longer than 9 months. Someone needs to call me at ** and ask for John B.

They don’t stand behind their product! Totally shotty product. Our experiences have been problems start within the first year to year and a half. That shouldn’t be happening. Yes, your ‘parts’ may be covered as they are with most water heaters professionally put in, but remember, you’ll be paying labor for a plumber to put them in each and every time! Once you’ve bought it, I guarantee you (with few exceptions) you will encounter problems.

Unfortunately my experience mimics that of others. I thought that I was buying a reputable 50 gallon high efficiency hot water tank costing me a total of $2,059. My tank was manufactured 3/31/2021. I havent had it a year yet and we are out of hot water. I called this evening the first call in waited 1hr 27 just for someone to answer and immediately hangs up. I mean before she could finish her greeting she stop speaking, made some type of gesture with her mouth then hung up. So I call again and just like the first call I held on waiting for 52mins, someone finally answered just to tell me, Oh hold on. I have to transfer you to technical support. So I held on for another 49mins. Now this is the good part, someone finally answered just to tell me she has to send a referral to the technicians and they will call to me to schedule a service call.

The condenser coil in my 6 year old AC unit is leaking and no longer cools
The condenser coil in my 6 year old AC unit is leaking and no longer cools my house which is 90 degrees. The part is under warranty but is on backorder and has to be manufactured. A month and a half later in the 90 degree summer I still dont have the part and Rheem can not tell me an estimated time of arrival. What good is a warranty if Rheem can not fulfill it? A $1,000 repair under warranty is going to turn into a new unit (NOT a Rheem) for $6,000 plus. I will never buy a Rheem again! I have seen multiple other reviews saying the condenser coils in Rheem AC units typically are replaced prematurely due to poor design. Buyer beware.

Bought a new Rheem 40 gallon hot water heater and was installed in new home
Bought a new Rheem 40 gallon hot water heater and was installed in new home in August 2015. Worked for three months, then had issues with NO hot water. Getting error code. Contacted company and after several attempts and disconnects finally got someone. Was told that the venting was improper and to contact plumber to have them look at it and then send the bill for reimbursement. We did as we were told, changed venting per their specifications and still does not work correctly. Plumbing company contacted Rheem and they sent new blower assembly. This was replaced and did NOT fix the problem. Again contacted Rheem spent over 2 hours trying to get someone. Finally got someone in another department who transferred to supervisor. They have supposedly contacted Menards to reimburse us for the bad water heater, but now are refusing to reimburse us for the bill that was incurred by having a plumber come out. They are stating we did not provide the correct documentation showing a defect. Bill was sent that we received from plumbing company stating their fees.We cannot understand why no one is looking into this company regarding all these issues that this company is having with their bad product and NOT honoring their warranty. This company is causing frustrations on customers that should not be happening and not honoring anything in their warranty booklet. Nor are the phone numbers that they are listing on this warranty numbers that consumers are able to get through. When talking to the supervisor I brought this issue up and even asked him if he has ever tried calling the number listed. He said frankly no. I asked him to please do this as well as forward this on to individuals that are higher up so that they are aware of this issue. I would seriously hope that this company look into their issues with their products and take note of what consumers are dealing with.

Manufactured Sept 4, 2018; failed October 9, 2018 - I thought I bought a premium water heater with a good reputation and service. The lower heating element failed (error code A105), which they say they will send me, and then I can either hire a technician to replace it or I can empty the water heater and do it myself. This is not the warranty I expected. This water heater was just installed, and they sent a bad product. I expect Rheem to bear the entire cost of fixing it in the first year -- not to send junk and make a customer bear the cost of repairing their mistake.

Purchased GE ULTRA LOW NO x 6 Year Gas Water Heater, by Rheem Manufacturing
Purchased GE ULTRA LOW NO x 6 Year Gas Water Heater, by Rheem Manufacturing from Home Depot in Modesto, Ca. First problem was at 1 & 1/2 years after purchase. Upon inspection of PG&E I was told Thermocouple had to be replaced and most likely it was a faulty part and or product (Not knowing about the hundreds of complaints similar of mine). The part was replaced at my expense. One year later the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th problems occurred (3 times in 5 months). Upon inspecting a LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND in my hall area, we discover the pilot light is no longer lit on the GAS WATER HEATER. Initially there are problems in re-lighting it but fortunately it has re-lit.It then came to mind to begin searching for this products recall. Not as easy of a task and I continue my search for a recall, but in the process I have found this water heater is no longer sold by Home Depot; every review was bad with most stating the thermocouple having to be replaced within the first two years, and this product has been discontinued. The GE Appliance website states this model is no longer being manufactured. And it is no wonder. What I am curious about is what it takes for a product to be recalled because from what I have researched it is the opinion of hundreds that this water heater is junk, a hassle to deal with the continuous problems, very costly. I pray not, although I fear the explosive sound could be a danger or deadly. If I could I would most definitely purchase another water heater but I am currently disabled, living on a limited income that I cannot even make it on each month. Therefore I pray for our safety and that the water heater does not have any further problems. As I have written this complaint, I have to GE as well. And Ill continue to seek a recall for this product. MY ADVISE, DO NOT BUY A GE WATER HEATER MANUFACTURED BY RHEEM!

I bought a new home in 1984 which had a 4 ton Rheem central air conditioner system which ran for 20 years. Updated with a Rheem 5 ton system ten years ago and haven’t had a problem to date. I also recently replaced my water heater with a Rheem which is very efficient. I highly recommend their product line.

Purchased a Rheem hot water tank and had it installed August 2020. It is now mid December 2020, and the hot water is running out in short time. This was due to the bottom heating element failing. Rheem’s warranty at this point is full parts and full labor. Called Rheem and after a few transfers I was finally given a service approval. Their plumber did call the next day and they did show up the following day. The tech tested the bottom element and stated the element faired due to Dry Fire. I know this was not the case. The electric was only turned back on after the tank was filled and the water lines had the air evacuated. I mentioned these details to the service tech, and he gives me this other BS explanation about if the tank was left outside to long when it was being installed-the sun can heat up the element- bla, bla, bla....Here is the bottom line. Things can break for no reason other than it has an issue, maybe during manufacturing but if a company offers a warranty then they should honor it! Rheem did not for me. Hopefully if you buy something from them and you have an issue they will honor their commitments. Rheem shame on you. PS- I fixed it myself- took all of 10 minutes once the tank was drained. The service tech took more time talking to Rheem and writing up if excuse than it took to do the work. Im also a Builder of 30+ years so I has completed my share of hot water tank installs.

We replace a water heater April 2015 with a Rheem electric tank in our vaca
We replace a water heater April 2015 with a Rheem electric tank in our vacation rental. Sept 2016 our tenant called us to say there was no hot water. Couldnt believe it. We had a plumber attend the condo to find out that the wires on top of the water heater were fried. We needed a new hot water heater of course. This happened on a Saturday and Rheems office was closed.I called Rheem on Monday for them to tell me I had to go through who I purchased the hot water tank through which was Home Depot. A representative at Rheem told me they would reimburse the labour to install the new tank. Im still waiting as of today being February 13, 2017. Rheem has the worst customer service I have ever had. They tell me someone will call me back in a day or so. They tell me it takes 6 to 8 weeks for an answer. Wow its now been 6 months and still no answer. I am so done with them. NEVER PURCHASE A RHEEM PRODUCT!!!

I bought a Rheem gas water heater and about 2 months later, it makes a loud popping noise and goes out. I call the company and they are rude with me. I have been on the phone back and forth with these people for 2 months and I still do not have hot water. The part they sent did not fix it. My plumber says its not fixable and needs to be returned, but apparently the company is going to go bankrupt if they let me return the water heater and will not give me a return code. I dont know how many things Im expected to do before they finally decide to give me the code. Im beyond frustrated. Im a single mom with cancer and its difficult for me to take my kids and I to someone elses house everyday to shower. If I had the money, I would trash the thing and buy another one (different brand) just so I wouldnt have to deal with this company anymore. I will definitely not be buying another water heater from Rheem ever and I will make sure everyone I know is aware of their lack of friendly customer service and a heart. No one should have to go this long without hot water.

I had to replace the Rheem hot water heater in my grandmas house 3 times in 2year. This time the heater has a recall on a part that rheem cant even get and even if they could it would still cost me $145 to have someone install it. I have to go buy a new water heater (it will not be rheem again) and the company has an Oh well attitude. I hope this review save people time and especially money. I wish I had read the reviews.

Purchased model #M061516469, 12-year warranty, 50 gal. unit (Serial XG50T120DU36U0) on Feb. 17, 2015. In mid August 2016 the unit began making a banging noise. Turns out the burner assembly was failing and the banging were actually mini explosions at burner shut down. Remember this unit had only been in service for 17 months. In Sept. 2016 the burner assembly was replaced, labor and parts were covered under warranty. Fast forward to Feb. 2019. The banging started again. Following Rheems advice to begin warranty replacement of any failing parts a plumber came out to diagnose the problem. For a mere $215 the plumber told us what we already knew, burner assembly failure. This time the cost to diagnose came out of our pockets since the warranty on labor is only 3-years, the warranty on parts is 12-years. The cost to install the new burner assembly was to have been an additional $225, but the plumber was going to give us a discount and only charge us $175. As it turns out installation of the burner assembly would be zero because the part is OBSOLETE! Yes, parts on a four year old 12-year parts warrantied water heater are obsolete. With that said the solution offered by Rheem is a warranty replacement of the entire unit!! We have to remove the old unit, take it to Home Depot, replace it with another Rheem water heater and bring it home. If we want it professionally installed the cost is on us. This just boggled my mind! These heaters are extremely expensive. To have such an expensive unit fail, not once, but twice within four years, then have the company render it obsolete as to require replacement is just beyond me. I hate to think that Ill have another Rheem product in my home that is destined to fail due to obsolete parts before its even close to the end of a 12-year warranty. Rheem should have absorb the cost of professional installation of their expensive parts obsolete four-year old unit. Seems like it would be the right thing for Rheem to do.

Cant I get no stars? My water heater broke (leaking) after 5.8 years. It is still under Rheem warranty, so I called Rheem and they said I had to take the water heater back to where it was purchased to get credit or a replacement. I cant remember where it was purchase and I cannot even lift the water heater. My plumber is not willing to take the heater to where it was purchased without charging me the time which is substantial. So Rheem wont honor the warranty unless I bring the whole water heater, this makes no sense. In essence they are saying if I cant carry the water heater into the place it was purchased I can get reimbursed. What is that but a sham! I will never purchase a Rheem product again!

New Rheem heat pump installed on 5/2012. Polar Bear Heat & Cooling warrantied this unit in writing parts and labor 12 months. Parts warrantied for ten years. The compressor failed after ten months. Polar Bear would not repair the unit unless I gave them $400 upfront for lost freon. They said Rheem would not compensate them for freon. I phoned Rheem customer service regarding that and they said they do not cover lost freon. Tough luck! Wife is ill and coming home from rehab in that period. I must have heat and cooling. I was forced to cough up $400 or Polar Bear would not repair. Gun to head. Attorney General Office in Florida fluffed me off and told me to get a lawyer that they dont handle private cases. BBB involved but they have no authority, only a token part. I dread the next ten years with Rheem if it lasts that long.

We purchased a hot water heater in 2011. The water heater is still under warranty. Spoke with Rheem representative. They said the heating elements went bad. They were supposed to send out new ones last Friday, overnight express. Waited until Tuesday to call them back. They said they were in transit. Delay was due to them not shipping until Monday. Waited until the following Monday. Still no heating elements. Checked with Fed Ex - they sent them back to the company... they had the wrong address or something. Tried calling the RHEEM number, 1 800 HEATER3. Try going to warranty department and it says call can not be completed. Call back later. Been trying all day. Very poor customer service. Would recommend staying away from Rheem heaters.

Compressor on my Rheem unit serial # 7842W281100514 failed 9 years into a 10 year warranty. Oil leaked from compressor into lines destroying entire system...coil, condenser, transfer lines. Got 2 estimates to replace and both were appx $5500. Rheem said they would give me $570 only to compensate for their faulty compressor but after spending half of summer 2020 with no a/c whatsoever, and countless hours on the phone with two different Reps, I have received nothing. Comically, the last correspondence I received was a rep explaining Id receive the $570 after I paid the installer in full myself. When I questioned this and asked how this would be done procedurally, they went dark...have not heard from them in months. I have literally spent 20-25 hours trying to recoup their measly $570 offer. At this point, I do not want another Rheem system and am pursuing alternatives.

I have been trying to deal with this problem for four days now. I called Rheem company several times today and was given divergent information. They gave me the number of installers, which then asked me to get a work order. I called Rheem they said they sent the order but it got refused. I called installer back again and conference called Rheem which then said that I would have to call the distributor instead. I was finally able to locate the distributor, who said they would be able to replace the water heater for a $150 service (provided I transport the old/new tanks). But they requested a voucher or authorization in order to provide me with a water heater replacement. I called Rheem 800 number yet again and the person transferred me to the warranty department which is now closed for business. Im going to be yet without hot water for another weekend. This is horrible customer service, giving me the running around!!! The water heater is less than a year old!

My plumber purchased a Ruud Pacemaker about 8 years ago and installed in my garage, 4 years later it burst from the bottom and flooded my garage, ruining a bunch of personal items. Plumber comes back out and replaces defective heater and puts in a brand new replacement, even though the replacement was free I still had to pay the plumber $350 to install. Well now its five years later and the replacement had water coming from the top of the water heater, another defective heater, my garage flooded again, personal items ruined again!! I call claims dept and they tell me theres nothing they can do because my warranty was only good for the life of the first water heater? What? You have defective products that ruin my garage twice and cost me all kinds of money and theres nothing they can do? How about you make a better product!! I had my water pressure checked and it was fine so thats not the issue, the issue is that these water heaters are junk and Do Not Buy!! They are horrible water heaters, made by a company that doesnt stand behind their products, and insert language in their warranties that screw the consumer in the end. I will be looking for other consumers like me that bought these defective products and hopefully get some type of class action lawsuit going cause I know theres a lot more people that feel the same way I do. I now replaced with a Kenmore and it actually heats the water faster than the Ruud.

Had installed by ARS a Rheem HVAC system 7/2012, just a little over two years ago. I have a maintenance agreement with a company two times a year and use pretty expensive air filters changing them every 3 months. This week the motor in the air handler stopped working. It was replaced free because it was under warranty. Have a 10 year labor agreement with the company that installed it and the labor was free also. Thank goodness! Please dont tell me that after the 5 yr. warranty period is over on parts that I will be having to replace the whole system. Im on my 3rd HVAC system in the last 21 years. The other two were not Rheems. My rating is only on Rheem HVAC and NOT ARS.

I installed a Rheem 50 gallon electric water heater in September of 2016 and had a manufacture date of August 23, 2016, less than 2 years old. I noticed paint flaking off around the bottom and some minor rust forming around the bottom and where the paint was flaking. The water heater is in a basement room but is on a wood platform and not on a moist floor, and has a dehumidifier 5 feet away. I called Rheem customer service to explain the problem. They asked for pictures, which I sent them. They looked at the pics, and proceeded to blame it on condensation from being in the basement, even though it’s off the floor and right next to a dehumidifier. It’s is right on par with others experiences with Rheem. They do not honor warranties and make all sorts of excuses to not have to replace anything. This unit has a 6 year tank warranty on it, and it’s less than 2 years old. I have never had a water heater rust on the outside from condensation. Rust on the tank is a sign of failure of the inner lining and will only get worse. Luckily, I bought the Home Depot extended warranty as Rheem is useless and screws its customers. Horrible company.

I am a maintenance technician at a town home complex that had 30 Rheem power vent water heaters installed in them 4 years ago. Of the thirty heaters I have had to replace, 21 gas control valves, I have to call because they are under warranty yet. But our tenants have had to wait 7 days for the part to show up to fix the problem. Rheem knows they have a problem because after giving them the model and serial numbers from the I.D. plate, they send out a new valve. My issues are angry tenants because they have no hot water and I have received repair calls every day of the week, weekends and late in the evenings or very early in the mornings. I even had a replacement gas valve go bad so they have not fixed the problem from what I can see. The operator at the service center told me that I had already replaced a valve on a unit after he checked the serial number, and I told him he was right it was. Now we just built another 24 unit complex here and after begging the owners to not put these in they still put the exact units in here. All I can say is Rheem must give a big push to contractors to keep moving this brand.

My new home has a Rheem RP14 installed. Its terrible. At 32 degrees it produces almost no heat. As a comparison, I lived in a home for over 5 years and had a 2009 model year American Standard base model/builder grade heat pump that performed much better. With the American Standard HP, it would produce heat down to the mid to low 20s before tapping out. I have the lowest pressure of all my neighbors and none of them have a thermal tank why should I, now, need one? I had 2 Rheem HVAC units oGas/AC) installed in my home in May 2014. One unit is for upstairs, the other for downstairs. In October 2018, the downstairs unit would not cool properly, low on freon, technician added freon and a sealant to hopefully seal the leak in the A coil. Then May 2019 the upstairs unit A coil had to be replaced. Now today June 24, 2019, the downstairs unit A coil has to be replaced (guess the sealant did not work). By the way, according to the technician who installed the unit and did the repairs, in the upstairs unit stated that the warranty did not cover or expired?? Do money out of my pocket for PART & labor. Now today the downstairs unit needs A coil replaced. I contacted the technician today and gave him a rundown on the dates, charges, and work done over the last (barely) 5 years since the install of these units and asked if these units didnt have at least a 5 year warranty? Note.... The company that installed the units amis the same one that services them. Researching in the internet, it appears that many units are warrantied for at least 5 years, some 10, 12 years or more. So, in my opinion, go purchase another brand of HVAC.... Stay away from Rheem. Check the warranty and get it in writing before you decide to have it installed.

Now Im told that I will receive an e-mail in a couple of days telling me how to get a part a couple of days after that. That means no hot water for six days. Request to speak to a supervisor. After 30 minutes on hold, I get tier 2 support - just another call center. I had a Rheem water heater in my new house, only 3 1/2 years old. It ended up being defective and needing replacement. It was very difficult getting any assistance in replacing it. I found a plumber to assist with the installation. I found the wholesaler where my builder purchased the water heater. I had a 5 ton Rheem heat pump installed in 2006 to replace a prior AC that lasted 25 years. Two weeks ago, I had to replace the condenser fan and the reversing valve to the tune of over a thousand dollars. Last Friday, I came home from work and the house was 90 degrees inside. The guy takes off the black box at the top and lo and behold one of the three wires is not connected. Its a manufacturer defect and still will take about one week. So, the guy rigs it so we have hot water. I called 2 business days later because no one called me to set up service to find out that the call was disconnected and he never put it in. He had all my information already. Of course they had an excuse. I will never purchase another water heater from this company again. I also paid the guy to install it and they will not reimburse me anything. You know what I would like to do with this heater.

We bought ten of the direct vent models for our 10 apartments and they turned out to be the worst nightmare we got into. Everyone has failed either with hard lockout or leaking at the drain valve. Their technical support is always looking to deflect the fault to installation, venting or something else. Their use a plastic pipe for drain valve which cracks and leaks. We was on the phone every other day to asked for support. Some of the techs came to their sense and request brass drain valves, many of them just insisted on sending the same plastic valve again. They never tested these drain valves. Everyone has a hairline crack which leaks out water making a mess. Every time this happens, it takes them a couple of days to send replacement. After I gave a scathing review on their website, they quit talking to me. I now pledge to make sure consumers do not buy these direct vent heaters again from Rheem. Please avoid at all costs!

We purchased A Rheem Water Heater, model #6G40-36F3 at Menards. My husband installed it and as he tried to light it the ignitor would not work 90% of the tries. Called the phone number for Rheem in a big sticker on the side of the heater. It says not to return to the store to call them for assistance. It said they were not available even though according to the sticker on it they are available 7 days a week. We looked up some other numbers and tried to contact them but no one available. Finally my husband got someone on a number that we found after a couple of hours of frustration. She agreed that the ignitor was bad and was sending us a new one. It would take 3-4 business days and this was on Saturday. The ignitor arrived on Wednesday and was an easy install. This episode was more time consuming and frustrating than necessary. If you have a big red sticker on the side of the water heater saying not to return to the store but call Rheem then you should make sure that phone number is actually answered by someone. When I brought this frustrating experience to Rheems attention they requested that I call them. When I called I was placed in a queue that said it would be about 20 minutes. I emailed them and said I was not willing to sit waiting approximately 20 minutes for them to take my call and told them to call me which was almost a month ago. Very poor customer service. Be aware when you purchase that they may not be available to help if there is a problem.

I bought a Rheem water heater, Model ELD80B, 14 months ago and was told it had a 4-year warranty. The heating element leaked and failed. I was told it would take 2 to 3 days to get a part. We are in the restaurant business and would have to close. I found the part at an appliance part house for $44 and hired a company to pick it up and bring to my store for $112, then called the company that sold and installed the heater (United Plumbing - Woodland Hills, CA) and they sent out a tech and it took about 30 minutes and I was charged an additional $475. I called Rheem and was told to read the fine print. They would only cover the whole unit if it had to be replaced and if it could be repaired like my unit did, it would not be covered.

Rheem Marathon water heaters come with a lifetime warranty. A licensed plumber installed this water heater just under a year ago. The heater began making loud noises, like a metal object was hitting another piece of metal. I called the same plumber back to check on the noise. He examined the heater thoroughly and found nothing that would have caused this problem to arise. He asked me to call Rheem Customer Service to see if they could explain and offer a solution to the noise. (The noise has no relation to water use, time of day, or any other variable I could think of). My first call was answered by Lori, who asked for my serial number, then told me to adjust the flue baffle and that would eliminate the noise. She was in a hurry to get off the call. The electric Marathon has no baffle. My second call was answered by Valerie, who also took my serial number. I specifically told her the heater was electric. She then told me to take off the two covers on the front, determine which light was on when the noise occurred, then call her back with the information. I took off the covers to find that there are no lights. She was also interested in ending the call. My third call was answered by Nick, who apologized for the other two agents of Rheem, which he could see from the record of calls I had made previously. He suggested draining the tank to see if that would eliminate the noise. I asked the plumber about this and he stated that there would be no need to drain the tank given its age. So I am left with either calling Rheem yet again for what appears to be sketchy advise or learning to live with the noise.Rheems Customer Service seems to be time on the phone driven: when you get a trouble call, give some kind of answer and get off the phone as soon as possible. Not a good system to encourage customers to buy any Rheem product in the future. Their responses to my problem seem to treat the Lifetime Warranty as a mere piece of paper used as a sales aid only. Beware of Rheem products!

The problem I experienced is a serious safety issue and I hope as many people read this and spread the word as possible. My Rheem 40 gallon hot water tank started to leak gas at the Honeywell valve internally. The tank is installed in a small closet which is a confined area in which combustible natural gas can accumulate. When I contacted customer service they tried every way they could to get out of sending a replacement part. Because of my experience and the seriousness of the issue I decided to do a little bit of research and discovered that I am NOT the only individual who has had this problem.I used to install hot water tanks when I was younger with a plumber friend of mine and I can tell you that I have never heard of this issue before. It just did not happen on the older non digital gas valves. I have since found out that these Honeywell gas valves are notorious for breaking down and they are used by many different hot water tank manufacturers. The leakage issue is a serious problem in a confined space natural gas can easily blow up and cause a fire. To make matters worse if you live in the country and use propane which is heavier than air the combustible gas will build up around the combustion chamber making an explosion very likely. These malfunctioning Honeywell valves are all over the internet and YouTube and have been a well known problem by the manufacturers for several years yet nothing seems to be done about them! I would advise people to avoid any tank with these potentially dangerous malfunctioning valves period. I would also advise people to avoid Rheem products in general based on my customer service experience. They should have been happy to replace the valve considering the dangerousness of the situation instead of asking so many questions and trying to get out of it. They dont have the customers best interests in mind based on my experience.A lot of the issues with this companys hot water tanks are with the Honeywell gas valve and malfunctions of said valve. Neither company seems to be interested in fixing this problem. I would stay away from these hot water tanks and these valves in particular if I were you! You just shouldnt have to deal with these kind of problems.

I bought a Rheem water heater in June. Well 5 months later, it started showing errors on the gas control. Also I would sometimes have hot water and other times I would not. Had their service techs come and try and fix. Called Rheem Numerous times and they said it was the gas control and sent me a new one. The tech comes over and installs the new gas control and guess what still doesnt work and I have no hot water. I call Rheem and they say we will send you another gas control. I say you just sent me a brand new one. He says Yes I know. I say I have a family with no hot water for two weeks now and I want you to get me a new water heater under the warranty as its only 5 months old. Rheem says no we wont do that. So I had to buy another water heater and not Rheem of course because I had no hot water heater that would work and all three techs said they couldnt fix it and Rheem wouldnt replace it. Rheem doesnt stand by their warranty. I called Rheem again and told them Im going to have to take them to small claims court and they said ok, good luck to you. This company is horrible and doesnt stand by their work or warranty. I asked them to reimburse me for the water heater and they said no.

Bought a Rheem tankless hot water heater in Summer 2012. Installed by licensed plumber. Unit froze up in the very cold weather we had this winter, and the copper tubing split. Plumber said he could repair unit, but Rheem wont sell parts. The plumbing supply house where I purchased it told me that they no longer sell Rheem units.Contacted their customer service. Was disconnected after long waits 8 times just as I was at the You are customer number 5 stage before finally getting a woman who gave me a direct number to the tech department which was answered immediately. I was requested to take pictures (inside unit, and outside) and email them, which I did. That was nearly a month ago. I have heard NOTHING back from them, despite two other emails. My next step is contacting the Mississippi State Attorney Generals Office. The unit worked well and saved me over $80.00 a month on my electric bill, but I have now been without hot water for nearly 5 months. Hoping that I can get this thing fixed. Probably will have to buy a new unit and it WILL NOT be a Rheem.

I moved into a brand new home in April 2016. I started having issues with my Rheem tankless water heater approximately 5 months after move in. It kept displaying a error code 12. The builder immediately had his plumber come out. We also included the gas provider in attempting to solve the mystery. After very extensive inspection, it was determined there were no issues at all with plumbing of the gas. Rheem sent another plumber out to change the fire rods. That seem to fix the issue. But, the error code returned approximately 2 months later. At that time, they sent another plumber out to do the same thing. Well, here it goes again... The same error code is back. Rheem has been very unresponsive to my requests. My family and I have had to endure this nightmare for a year and a half. Supposedly, we purchased the “top of the line” unit from Rheem. However, the service I’ve received so far doesn’t reflect that at all. Rheem needs to do the right thing, and replace the unit.

Today (2 months later) I called to find out WHEN I should be getting a check. I was told 4-8 MORE weeks. Because I didnt submit my cancelled check with my claim - therefore - it hasnt even been processed. No call from them to tell me I needed to send cancelled checks. Monday rolls around and still no part. I call again yesterday and there is no order placed under my name!!! After we get the order squared away I ask if someone is going to come and install this new part and they told me a service contract we had expired in Sept. 2021. I told them since they screwed us and didnt place our order the first time they should come install this for us anyways and they said THEY CANT. Its now the next day, I havent gotten an email that the part has shipped and theres no tracking number. I call once again and they said yup, it hasnt shipped yet and left me hanging. Purchased a new Ruud 2.5-ton heat pump system in January of 2013. Have had nothing but trouble with this system every since it was installed. 14 months after it was installed is when the troubles started. Technician came out to find the system to have no refrigerant and found that a factory solder joint was leaking in the outdoor heat pump. Repair was made and in April of 2016 system stopped again technician found system to be out of refrigerant again due to a leaking outdoor coil, replaced outdoor coil, system stopped again in April of 2017 technician for evaporator coil to be leaking, replaced evaporator coil, system stopped again in Dec. 2017 due to a defective coil temp sensor, replaced sensor, system stopped again in Dec. 2018 due to a defective compressor, when compressor was replaced technician found that the expansion valve was also defective which caused the compressor to fail, replaced compressor and expansion valve, system stopped again in Jan. 2020 due to expansion valve failing again, The contractor that did the installation of the system contacted Ruud and I also contacted Ruud to file a lemon complaint. Apparently Lisa whom I had spoken with and did not hear back from until 2 weeks later got with Wayne whom the contractor had spoken with must have gotten together at some point because they both told the contractor and myself the same story. I have spent over $3500 in repairs and Ruud only was willing to pay $225 labor fee to replace the expansion valve a second time. I decided to replace my heat pump. I would not recommend buying Ruud/Rheem systems. They are junk.

Summary: $1,500 water heater was declared a lemon by Rheems tech support -- Rheem will not issue a full refund. I purchased a 50 gallon Rheem water heater (PROPG50-40N RH67 PD) from an authorized Rheem dealer, Johnson Thermol Temp Inc., Washington, MI. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi feature, used to raise/lower the water temperature from a smartphone, never worked consistently. After a seemingly random period of time (a few hours to a week) the Wi-Fi connection would drop, resulting in lukewarm-to-cold showers.During the next several months I placed many calls and invested dozens of hours of personal time working with Rheems tech support. To prove my home network wasnt the issue I was required to purchase and install two different Wi-Fi extenders. Rheem/Johnson Thermal made several attempts to troubleshoot the problem. They replaced the Wi-Fi unit. They replaced the gas valve three times. Nothing worked. Unable to solve the problem Rheems tech support declared the water heater a lemon (their words, not mine, case number 3137948) and told me to return it and Johnson Thermal would provide a refund.Johnson Thermal took the water heater back. A few weeks passed; no refund. After two more phone calls to Johnson Thermal and another week went by I received a partial, $700 refund. Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Rheem failed. I placed two calls to their warranty group. Both times I was told that the manager was not available but would call back. Neither call was returned. Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Johnson Thermal failed. I placed a call to the manager -- it was not returned. A partial refund is not acceptable for a water heater that *never* worked properly. My expectation was/is for a full, $1500 refund.

Purchased a 50 gallon Rheem electric hot water heater from Home Depot. Had a master plumber install the water heater. He thought all was working well. Never got any hot water. Plumber came back later to see what was wrong. Plumber contacted Rheem and explained what was going on with the water heater. Rheem told him it was defective and gave him a case number. They also told him a plumbing company in Maryland would handle checking out the heater to see if it could be repaired. By the way, I live in Georgia! Plumbing company in Maryland told my plumber they did not have a work order for my water heater. My plumber contacted Rheem at least ten times concerning the heater. Rheem could find the case number, but could never find any paperwork concerning my plumber contacting them. They put the burden on me by telling me to find a licensed plumber and having the heater repaired and then they would reimburse me. Is this the best they can do to stand behind their product? Our water heater was professionally installed in May 2011. Last month the unit started leaking. I pulled out the paperwork and went online to verify the warranty. According to their warranty verification site, the warranty was valid through 6/11/2024. I called the Rheem customer service line (800-432-8373) and spoke to someone that confirmed that the warranty was valid. He said I needed to have a plumber look at the unit first and he gave me the name of a plumber that I could use. I paid $140 for him to come out and he confirmed that the unit was properly installed and the heat exchanger was leaking. I called Rheem back on 6/26/15 and the customer service agent (Scott, who was very nice) asked some basic questions including Were you the homeowner at the time the unit was installed? I bought the house one year ago. He then told me that because I was not the owner of the home when it was installed, the warranty was not valid.I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me was the one in charge. I asked to speak to his manager and he took my information and told me he would have him call me but no one ever did. I sent an email to Rheems customer service center and again got no response. As a result, I have had to pay $1,975 to buy a new tankless water heater and have it installed. To make matters worse, I was forced to buy another Rheem as any other brand would have required additional costs to retrofit the piping to fit that product (according to the plumber that Rheem referred). I feel that the product failed after 4 years and this should have nothing to do with the fact that I bought the house 3 years after it was installed. I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the new unit under the original warranty. I am also disappointed that Rheem did not respond to my request to speak to a manager or my email to their customer service center.

I would not recommend ever buying a Rheem. Ive had the unit for 5 years and the coils went bad. I was told by my HVAC company that they have had this problem numerous times with this model. The part is covered under warranty, but the freon that lost because of this bad part was not covered. This freon would not have been lost if not for the bad part, but the warranty says its not covered. Therefore, it cost me over $600 for the repairs. As I read the reviews on this site, I see that others have the problem and the replacement coils have gone out in a year or so.

The adjustment dial and power switch located at the bottom of the gas water
The adjustment dial and power switch located at the bottom of the gas water heater has no way to prevent a toddler or incidental contact from adjusting the dial. This is a huge red flag for me where it can easily be turned to the max temperature and can lead to burns. I called Rheem to see if they have a cover or anything that can limit access to the controls and was told that this is not a safety concern or a manufacturer defect and there is nothing that they will do to resolve the concern. I assume it is my 18 month old daughter that is playing with the dial, turning it to the maximum temperature setting, but it could as easily be changed by something inadvertently rubbing on the dial. My home was built in the 70s and the water heater is located in the laundry room, not in a dedicated closet, so it does have more open access than newer homes with dedicated utility closets. Regardless, this is currently a significant safety concern for me and my wife.

I had a new 50 gal electric hot water tank install with a 2 year in home 12 year warranty. Unit heated water but only produced about 5 minutes of water. I called Rheem and rep. said a company would contact me for repair. A week later no one had called so I called Rheem rep. Said he had no notes about this and said I would have to hire contractor. I ask to talk to supervisor and was just parked on hold. I hired plumber and repair person tested all parts and said electronic brain was bad. No parts were available from any supply house and Rheem was not answering phone. I talked Home Depot into an exchange and I got new electronic brain. I still have same problem and have been on hold for 30 min. now. They say I have $125 limit for in home repairs and I have two trips for repair now. New brain being sent. 6 hours of time dealing with this. Over 2 hours on hold and a hour just calling with no answer. New unit still not working correct for a month. I own many rental homes and this is poor service...

My original water heater gave out and went to Home Depot for a new one. I came across Rheems water heaters, fairly cheap compared to others, 6yr parts warranty, 1yr labor, easy to install so it seemed like the best choice at the time. Over a year later, heater gave out, called customer service and they were not helpful. They want to replace every single component before they even consider the thought of having to replace the heater meanwhile Im left without hot water for days/weeks. After days of arguing with customer service, I finally asked to speak to a supervisor (Kelly, ID#**) 1866-279-4566 and she was even worst. I still havent resolve this issue, will probably cut my losses and buy a new, better heater, definitely NOT a Rheem heater.. Dont cut corners people, spend the money, dont go Rheems because you will deal with the pain down the line.

I purchased a Rheem water heater in June 2014 from Home Depot. The tank failed several days ago. I tried warranty service over the last several days and I got a message it wasnt in service, try later... Or wrong serial number. Today I called the 800 621 5622 and got a customer service rep. He tells me to bring it back to Home Depot for adjustment. Home Depot doesnt deal with Rheem anymore. Cant even special order. Parts can only be obtained from their authorized plumber and any regular plumber wont touch or recommend Rheem for obvious reasons. Essentially Rheem warranty program is a sham. My recommendation: Dont buy anything from Rheem. Model # XG48TOGEN40UO S # RHUNM181401735 manufactured 29/4/14.

Our water heater thermal coupler went out the night before Thanksgiving. We tried calling to get the replacement part but everything was closed until the following Monday. We called the tech support and the customer service said that he has been doing his job for so many years and it was not the thermal coupler and said it was the gas control unit. We took his word since he said he was the expert. We paid to have it expedited for next day. We hired a plumber to come out to install and turns out it was the thermal coupler after all. I paid for the plumber for the service call. I called Rheem and after over an hour waiting was finally able to talk to the manager and he agreed to refund the expedited delivery charge. Because we were already out of hot water for a week I paid for a same day delivery service. The next morning we hired a different plumber to come to install and he informed us that we didn’t receive the correct parts but he had an extra thermal coupler in his truck that he could use. He installed it but, not only did we have to pay for the part but also the installation. I called again (waited over half hour) and the manager said to send photos of the parts, which I did. He sent an email for me to call to discuss.Again, waited on the line only to be put through to someone else, went through the whole story again only for them to tell me I had to speak to another manager. Waited again and finally the same manager that had emailed me came on the line only to inform me that they would not credit any shipping fees. I offered to compromise and pay for the same day service but he refused, was condescending and not willing to help at all. I highly recommend you stay away from any RHEEM water heater products. Both plumbers that came said that they are the worst to deal with.

My air conditioner line inside the unit is leaking and is only 4 years old. Rheem doesnt pay for labor so its going to cost me 2000 to fix and cost them nothing in parts and may still have a problem after the line is brazed. So be careful what youre buying cause their 5 year warranty is worthless.

We installed a brand new Richmond 40 Gallon (Rheem) water heater which we purchased from Menards. It has a faulty Thermal shank. This has left me (and a renter) out of hot water for 3 days, while waiting for the part to arrive. Unfortunately no one has the part in town and there are no service technicians for the Saint Paul Minnesota area. I have called 15 plumbers off the list that was sent to me and I had difficulty finding one who will come out on short notice. I will not trust that I can have someone arrive after hours (@$259 an hour) and still be reimbursed. I will have a person tomorrow morning, but that means I will literally be boiling water for my renters bath. I am not looking forward to the paperwork I need to fill out for my claim. And I am disappointed that I will need to wait for my check to clear as proof of payment before finishing my claim. This is just more of a time delay to an already time consuming situation. This purchase has hurt my rental business. I will encourage others to buy another brand - especially Rental Managers and landlords who cant afford this type of hassle. I wish I could have just returned the product, but it is already filled with water and the gas and water lines are installed. I dont dare try to haul it back to the store for fear that it would be damaged on the way and then Id have an even bigger drama on my hands. And one more frustrating bit to this is the wait time when calling in. It was near a half hour. (Though the service line is faster).

The Rheem inducer died after only 2 years, which means it ran only 12 winter/fall months. The original cost of install for the inducer was about $500 for the inducer and $200 for labor. The furnace filter was changed every month during use and the newer furnace was serviced yearly. The inducer was clearly a LEMON. Since the company that installed it claimed their distributor would not get me a replacement after I offered to pay their cost but no profit, (I didnt think it was right they sold me a lemon and then make a bunch of money selling me a replacement), I called Genco. Genco was who the installer of the furnace told me to call because they now own Rheem/Ruud.Genco was not even remotely willing to help.... much like most reviews I read about Rheem/Ruud service. You can add Genco to the poor customer service list with Rheem/Ruud. Just bought a new inducer online for $210..... so I can get my furnace working again. The contracting company said the cheapest they could get one for from their distributor was $367..... What a racket!

It worked for one day then I had to call for repair, they shipped a part but they wouldnt pay for labor nor had a field service staff to help with. I had to pay for a plumber. 3 days later broke again and Rheem washed their hands off. Basically a brand new water heater that doesnt work. It is not on their radar for customer service. I will never purchase from them again nor I suggest anybody does.

Purchased an entire HVAC system from Rheem August 2010. Have had continual problems with the Rheem Model RANL 13 SEER air conditioner... pressure switch, refrigerant, capacitor, and compressor! Rheem does not cover labor to install these parts even though all parts are warranted for five years. Customer Support gets you nowhere. My system is four years old. I suppose Rheem expects the consumer to dump the system when the five-year warranty expires and buy a new one. I will NEVER buy another Rheem and I will make it a mission to inform others about this company that manufactures inferior products. I agree with others who have posted about the racket Rheem has going - a class action lawsuit would be appropriate!

Installed a water heater that worked for two days. Called customer support. Spent 20 minutes waiting, only to be redirected to a technician with a 40 minute wait. I got a teenaged millennial who had never installed a water heater and clearly wanted me off the queue. I got exactly one question, whats the voltage across the incoming electrical leads. Despite both leads providing 120VAC, I was told it was an electrical problem, determined by ONE test, and dismissed. No other diagnostics were performed and no interest in what, where are when anything happened. Describing the problem and steps taken was of no interest to the teenager on the other end. Clearly designed to avoid actual customer service. So if you want to talk to a know-it-all teenager on a phone in a cube, call Rheem customer support. If ya want to fix your WH, try YouTube and Amazon.

I wanted to buy a Rheem Lifetime warranty Marathon hot water tank. They advertise that it will never need changing and will save you so much money in the long run. I was so excited I would never have to change it again... it seemed worth the extra cost... for sure. Luckily I remembered that my insurance requires that hot water tanks be changed every 10 years so I asked the insurance if they will accept this lifetime unit forever and they said NO. My insurance told me that 99% of insurance companies will still require that the unit be changed after 10 years regardless of the manufacturers warranty claims. Note: I am in Canada. Buyer beware!!!!

Your product and customer service is a complete joke. I purchased one of your hot water heater in March. From day one we had problems. Finally after a week of no hot water and your customer service department playing games and the service company you referred playing games, we were able to get a new hot water heater. With that said, that hot water heater has been leaking since day one. I called and they sent me out a replacement part but, still it is leaking. I then called in today and spoke to a miserable supervisor named, Shakir.I called to get service along with request that my warranty that will expire in March be extended. He was rude and to the point of advising no and that he will get the service company out. For 2 hot water heaters to go in less than a 9 month period. What is that saying about your product. Also not extending the warranty even shows your own company doesnt stand behind its own product. Unbelievable! I will never purchase anything with your name attached to anything again!

Purchased Rheem 4 ton HVAC April 2018. Unit failed in less than 24 hours. This was written off as foreign debris in lines and repaired at the cost of the service company who were also accompanied by a Rheem rep. Now 14 months later the indoor fan has decided to slow down not drawing enough air through the handler which caused heavy condensation to soak the filter thus restricting airflow further until the coil became completely iced over. Waiting to hear a response from Rheem on this one. Service Star repair rate for one hour of labor is more than 2 months of my total electric bill at 287.00. Id steer clear of both of these companies as theyre both profiting on selling consumers junk.

We bought a beautiful new Rheem HVAC which included a heat pump and gas furnace. The trouble started after our system was two years old. Aug 8th 2020 -(1) The fan motor on heat exchange stopped working and had to be replaced. Within one Months time we had to replace: (2) The coil and (3) The reverse valve. Although the parts are under warranty the labor cost us around $3000.

I purchased an entirely-new Rheem heating and cooling system in very early
I purchased an entirely-new Rheem heating and cooling system in very early 2013 (paid in full 3/2/13), having the RASL048JEC compressor-condenser unit, and RGPE-07NBRQR air handler/gas furnace unit. The Rheem compressor is a microprocessor-controlled, dual compressor design. From summer of 2014 onward, this compressor will latch up and not self-recover from any disturbance of the AC power coming to my home: brief power outages or brownouts will cause it to stay off. Originally, just pulling the fuse cartridges for 2-3 minutes and re-inserting... would make the unit recover. After 2015, this easy fix no longer works: now the compressor unit needs to have the cover removed such that the technician can do a hard-reset of the microcontroller boards by pressing circuit board switches to clear the (saved and displayed) error codes. Two weeks ago the A/C would not come on but error code 21 was showing, and this was traced to a Freon leak in the ADP-manufactured evaporator coil. This is a known problem with Rheem A/C units having the original copper coil; my local A/C contractor, Alaskan Home Services, had to change out three (3) such coils... including mine on the same day. The new ADP coil appears to have the same model number as the old (copper) coil, but it has aluminum tubing rather than copper. Checking online, it appears that evap coil failure in Rheem units is a widespread problem; there is even an attempt at a class-action lawsuit on this issue. Now yet another new problem has surfaced with the furnace / air handler unit: gas burner comes on, but the duct fan does not, resulting in an error code 46 on the controller board for the air handler... and the burner shuts off. And this came after the evaporator coil repair. I am really upset that this high-cost system is so unreliable... especially since it was bought with reliability in mind. Additional issue: Alaskan now charges me a diagnostic fee for coming out... although my old paperwork on the extended PMA (preventative maintenance agreement) was supposed to be all-inclusive contract, with no trip or travel time charges. Review of the PMA paperwork shows diagnostic fee ABSENT as a topic.

Once my tenant started complaining that there was no hot water, I checked the water heater and the pilot was blown out. I re-lit the pilot and thought it would be good. Several hours later the pilot blew out again. This process happened all weekend. On Sunday night I stayed on hold with Rheem support team for 1 hour and 50 minutes. After explaining what was happening, They reassured me that they would have someone come out and call me tomorrow. That never happened! I have had a lot of back and forth with this company all ending with broken promises. Having me find a plumber and paying for everything. I have left messages and sent emails and feel that this company should be doing right by their paying customers. I will be taking this to the attorney general.

Recently purchased a home (Feb 2018). The seller replaced all appliances prior to selling including a Rheem water heater. The water heater became defective in less than a year. The company refuses to honor its 12 year warranty for the product installed less than a year ago due to the fact I am not the original purchaser of the unit. What happened to companies standing behind their products? I started looking at reviews and have found very few that have been positive about this household name company. Will not be purchasing any products from Rheem in the future. Very disappointed.

I posted a complaint on here on September 19, 2013 after having to have Freon replaced in my unit for the second time (summer of 2012 & Sept. 19, 2013). The unit was placed in service on 4-25-2011. It is now 4-11-2014 and the blower motor is out after the unit ran on a prolonged base because the condenser shut off due to LOW FREON. It now appears that we will need to have the Freon recharged and the blower motor replaced. It is NOT acceptable to have to spend $300 - $1,000 every summer to keep an AC running - ESPECIALLY one that is less than 5 years old. It seems that Rheem will replace the coils (that they know leak Freon) IF the customer pays to have a technician make a service call, place the coils in water for several days to locate the leak and they are able to verify it to Rheems standards. Then, the customer must pay to have the technician make another service call to replace the coils. ALL Labor is on the customer, not to mention the fact that the customer is without a unit for several days during the process! Shame on Rheem! They know of this problem, but are doing nothing to make it right.

I purchased a 40 gallon Rheem water heater in August, 2016. This past Tuesday, no hot water. Plumber came and replaced the bad Thermo coupler. Tonight came home to no hot water. Plumber came, said it is a faulty gas valve. He gave me a choice-back-order a replacement part for $300.00 and wait days to get it and add in labor or it would be cheaper to replace the water heater. That is what I opted for. I am wildly disappointed in that Rheem unit. It was nothing but trouble from day one!
