Purchased this brand new AC from my air conditioner specialist not quite 2
Purchased this brand new AC from my air conditioner specialist not quite 2 years ago and have had a few problems that make me NOT so happy. First it was the compressor failing which had to be replaced, under warranty. Great but the labor was not under warranty so that cost me $175 which doesnt sound like a lot but when you shelled out $4500 for a new AC just under 2 years previously it is a big deal. He installs that and puts some fluid that was recommended into a valve and off he went. The AC worked for about 3 hours before it went bad -- froze up. He came over in the evening and looked at it, and said now it was the valve that he had gotten a service alert on. Although he put in some fluid as they described apparently it needs to be replaced again. That is under warranty BUT over $500 in labor and cant do it then. Will have to come back and do it. So $675 worth of work on a NEW air conditioner and 4 nights without AC in August in Florida. Had to move my pets out of the house with me for FOUR nights. Not good!!!

I am not upset that a part went bad, I get it… things happen. The only reason I gave a second star was because everyone I spoke with was very polite and professional. What is disappointing is that Rheem does not consider my family having hot water for six day an issue. I am betting that the top brass at Rheem have not had to go through their warranty department for a repair, otherwise it would not be this way. Here is an account by date of what occurred afterward. DAY 1 - 12/5/2020: Water heater stops working so I call Rheem Warranty. I was told they were closed and call back tomorrow. DAY 2 - 12/6/2020: I call Rheem and get put on hold for 15 minutes... no problem. They answer and take my info and then transfer me to Warranty. I sit on hold another 30 minutes. They finally answer and we go through a series of Q&A to determine what needs to be done to fix my water heater. It is determined that I need a part and that they will ship it to me... Ok, no problem. I receive an email from Rheem stating the following: Thank you for contacting Rheem. A part has been submitted to the Parts department for processing. Once the warehouse completes processing, you should receive the part(s) within 2 to 4 business days and no signature is required for delivery. Additionally, You should receive an email with tracking information once the warehouse packages your part.Additionally, a request for labor coverage has been submitted to our Dispatch team for processing. You will either receive a call from our dispatch team with labor options or from an independent contractor in your area within 1 business day to setup an appointment. Labor coverage includes the repair or replacement of any part of the water heater due to defect in material or workmanship. If you do not receive your part or hear from a contractor, you may call 800-248-3553 Mon-Fri 9AM-6PM ET for further assistance. Here is where I have a problem... ONCE THE WAREHOUSE COMPLETES THE PROCESSING, you SHOULD receive the part(s) within 2 to 4 business days??? This did not exactly instill confidence that I was going to get hot water back anytime soon. I have six people living in my house… my wife and I, an elderly parent, three children and none of us are happy with the thought of waiting six to eight days with no hot water.DAY 3 - 12/7/2020: I do not receive a shipment notification, but I do receive a notification that I have been assigned a contractor to install the part once I receive it. I think to myself; I will get a little ahead of the curve by seeing it they have a part in stock and maybe, just maybe, they can get their part installed prior to Rheems part arriving. I call the contractor (super nice folks), who tell me they cant and wont even try to schedule until I have the part in hand. Disappointed.DAY 4 - 12/8/2020: No shipment notification by noon, so I call Rheem back to find out what is going on. I am back on hold for 20 minutes. Get transferred to the shipping department, wait on hold another 5 minutes. Nice lady tells me that my part has not been processed yet. I express my complete dissatisfaction with Rheem’s process, so she expedites the shipment (which costs $30) so I will receive the part the next day. I thank her and wait for the part to arrive. I receive a shipment notification that the part is being shipped and should arrive on 12/9.DAY 5 – 12/9/2020: Waiting for my part to arrive so I can call the contractor to install it. Based on my prior conversation with the repair guy, it will be another day or two to get someone out. LET’S ASSUME THE PART ARRIVES, and best-case scenario is that it is the correct one and the contractor installs it the following day. DAY 6 – 12/10: Contractor installs the part, and we all get to take a hot shower. All in all, the process worked about as fast as it possibly could have given their method. Which means that it could have easily taken a couple of day longer. HERE IS SOMETHING FOR THE OL SUGGESTION BOX AT RHEEM: 1. Create a few “Authorized Repair Centers” in each major metropolitan area. 2. Require them to stock some basic parts (like an ignitor switch or gas valve).3. Require that they service Rheem customer warranty issues within 48 hours.Problem solved… customer confidence instilled, Rheem’s good name installed! A happy customer is a return customer! RHEEM… 6 to 8 days is TOO LONG to wait for hot water! UPDATE: The part did arrive on time and the contractor scheduled us the following day.

I purchased a Rheem Air Conditioner in 2010. I have replaced the compressor two times and now the coil has blow out. My air conditioning company came out Sunday and removed the cover and the whole inside was covered with oil. Its still under warranty, so they ordered a replacement coil on Monday and I received a call today that it is on back order from Rheem and they dont know when they will receive it. I called Rheem customer service and was told to call my service company and have them call a district supervisor. I live in Florida and it is getting a little cooler (80s during the day). Its still hot without an air conditioner. Ive been reading other reviews and it seems that Im not alone. THIS WILL BE MY LAST RHEEM PRODUCT.

Purchased a Rheem Hot Water through Home Depot. Heaters improper wiring caused popping and arcing once turned on. Paid certified electrician ($50) to repair heaters electrical harness. Reported problem to Rheem who requested service invoice, electricians license number, phone number, serial number, model number, and proof of service payment. Twice I sent Rheem requested information. Twice Rheem requested the same information. To date, Rheem has not reimbursed me for service and has been unwilling to process claim. Apparently, customer service after a purchase is not a company value.

Bought this from Home Depot just less than a year ago. Gas valve went out last Wednesday. Big sticker on front of water heater says not to return to Home Depot but to call their 800 number. Over the past 6 days I have spent a minimum of 5 hours on hold waiting for them. While this is still under warranty (parts & labor) you will have to pay $30 if you want your part expedited (whatever that means, as the part is STILL not here on day 6). Worst customer service EVER. I was told you knew what the problem was...the panel blinking lights told you. Your email with the tracking number mustve gone into your spam folder. Among please hold like 20 times. Six days after the gas valve went out, I am still waiting for them to actually get the part to FedEx for shipping...They have received shipping info, but not the part to send out. I understand that once the part is here in CA, in my hand I can call their contracted plumbers to come install it. They absolutely wont set up an appointment until the part arrives (apparently they know how RHEEM customer service works). Then I will have to wait 2-4 days for the plumber to come. I can contact my own plumber, but will have to pay them and then get reimbursed...Doesnt sound promising. Strongly suggest you look at another brand.

On 8-12-16 my Rheem hot water heater which is (2) yrs old went to vacation mode and I only had warm water. Plumber spoke with Rheem and they recommend replacement of gas valve. Rheem sent part and it was replaced 5 days later. After a few days it went back to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and was told they would send another gas valve for replacement. After 2nd replacement of valve, a few days later it went back to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and they recommend replacement of vapor sensor. Vapor sensor was installed and again went to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and they recommend replacement of wire harness. After this replacement I had NO warm water. Plumber replaced complete unit on 9-24-16. Rheem covered the water heater but would not cover labor. Because of all their replacement recommendations my labor charges came to 1767.00. After reading the other reviews, why isnt this heater recalled?

I had completed construction of my new home in 2001 with a 40 gallon Rheem water heater. It lasted until mid year 2012 at which time it developed a leak in the side of the tank about half way down from the top. I was surprised that it only lasted eleven years when past experience was more like 20 to 25 years. I purchased a Rheem 50 gallon water heater on 6-20-12 and immediately experienced trouble with the lower element leaking. The plumber came out and removed the element, cleaned everything and put it back together with Teflon sealer. I notified Rheem, but no one ever returned my call. Yesterday, 11-27-17 I noticed water in the containment pan. I pulled the lower cover and found the lower element leaking again. I tried to reach Rheem customer service with no luck! I strongly recommend avoiding Rheem Manufacturing water heaters. Looking around on the internet, I am not the only one who feels this way. What a terrible company.

I replaced my Rheem water heater less than 6 months ago and I have no hot water. Trying to get a contractor to my home to fix it is awful. I reported the claim on Monday and its Thursday. Contractor never has time. My previous Rheem water heater before replacing it, consistently having problems with upper and/or lower element. MFG kept sending contractor to fix rather than replace the unit. Because so much time passed in the process, the warranty ran out and I had to pay out of pocket towards the new one. And, as mentioned, its not even 6 months old and here we go again. Horrible product/horrible service!

We purchased a Rheem air conditioning unit 3.5 years ago. The unit is still under warranty, but I had to spend $600 in labor to fix the damage THEIR faulty equipment caused to my unit!!! Last week I had to have a new condenser fan motor installed and the unit kept shorting. After the A/C contractor came out today, I was told the faulty fan motor caused damage to coils and have to be replaced for $295!! I am extremely confused as to how I am responsible for labor to fix damage Rheems parts caused to other areas of my unit.

Purchased GE ULTRA LOW NO x 6 Year Gas Water Heater, by Rheem Manufacturing
Purchased GE ULTRA LOW NO x 6 Year Gas Water Heater, by Rheem Manufacturing from Home Depot in Modesto, Ca. First problem was at 1 & 1/2 years after purchase. Upon inspection of PG&E I was told Thermocouple had to be replaced and most likely it was a faulty part and or product (Not knowing about the hundreds of complaints similar of mine). The part was replaced at my expense. One year later the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th problems occurred (3 times in 5 months). Upon inspecting a LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND in my hall area, we discover the pilot light is no longer lit on the GAS WATER HEATER. Initially there are problems in re-lighting it but fortunately it has re-lit.It then came to mind to begin searching for this products recall. Not as easy of a task and I continue my search for a recall, but in the process I have found this water heater is no longer sold by Home Depot; every review was bad with most stating the thermocouple having to be replaced within the first two years, and this product has been discontinued. The GE Appliance website states this model is no longer being manufactured. And it is no wonder. What I am curious about is what it takes for a product to be recalled because from what I have researched it is the opinion of hundreds that this water heater is junk, a hassle to deal with the continuous problems, very costly. I pray not, although I fear the explosive sound could be a danger or deadly. If I could I would most definitely purchase another water heater but I am currently disabled, living on a limited income that I cannot even make it on each month. Therefore I pray for our safety and that the water heater does not have any further problems. As I have written this complaint, I have to GE as well. And Ill continue to seek a recall for this product. MY ADVISE, DO NOT BUY A GE WATER HEATER MANUFACTURED BY RHEEM!

My 8-month-old Rheem water heater GUSHED all 40 gallons that were in the tank. I called Rheem and was told I was not covered because their warranty begins when THEY manufacture it, NOT when you buy, install it! I asked the less than professional customer service rep how I would know it was manufactured and with a snicker, she said, Oh, you wouldnt. I spoke with 4 people throughout the day, each with a different explanation. They emailed me about doing a leak test which only flooded my utility room A 2ND TIME! Consumer Affairs is obviously an unreliable source rating this product at over four stars with nothing but one star reviews as far as the eye can see. I’ve been doing plumbing for 15 years. I will never install one of these pieces of junk ever again. Don’t waste your money. This is the fifth heater I’ve been stored and had trouble with within two years from Rheem. Their product is junk. They made water heaters in the 1980s-90s that not only operate better than the 2021 models but can outlive their life by 10 years plus. Don’t be scammed by Rheem. They make these things to break so they can make more money off of you. Also don’t be scammed by this unreliable source that cost their self consumer affairs who obviously does not care about the consumer. Read the reviews consumer reports. Where the ** do you get your information. Apparently whoever works at this consumer affairs place can’t count 4.8 stars and nothing but one star reviews you can read them for days. Hey morons for one star reviews doesn’t equal four stars. You’re a ** idiot

Manufactured Sept 4, 2018; failed October 9, 2018 - I thought I bought a premium water heater with a good reputation and service. The lower heating element failed (error code A105), which they say they will send me, and then I can either hire a technician to replace it or I can empty the water heater and do it myself. Got the Rheem tankless water heater in 2015 through the contractor we used at the time for purchasing and installing the water heater/furnace. The townhouse was under major renovations until October 2016 when we moved in. The water heater worked perfectly until the beginning of March 2018, when we started to get the ERROR code 11. Since then, until the current date May 9, 2018 the issue has not been resolved. Manufacturer is blaming the installer and keeps telling us that the product must be re-installed in order to work. So lets revise: it worked perfectly for 1 1/2 year and now when it is not working, it is because it was not installed as per requirements... The contractor I am currently using to resolve the issue has been back and forth with the manufacturer numerous times but their customer service is extremely poor and very frustrating with no real help or viable solutions. STAY AWAY FROM RHEEM PRODUCTS.

Rheem does not honor their warranty. My plumber installed two Rheem water heaters in my two family and it worked great for two years. Three months ago, one of them burst at the bottom and flooded my basement. It was not a problem because I got 6 or 7-year warranty on the product. I then called Rheem they confirmed that the product is under warranty. They gave me a return number and advised me that I should take the defective heater back to where I purchased it.The contractor took it back but the distributor where it was originally purchased said that they will not exchange. I contacted Rheem and they told me to try another distributor--same thing, no exchanges. I called several more and asked Rheem if they could ship me one they said no. This has been ongoing for three months so I eventually contacted the BBB. Rheem said that they would give me a fair market value. This turns out to be about $400 when a new heater cost is about $800--not fair at all. Please do not purchase from Rheem because they do not honor their warranty. I purchased a different brand to replace the defective one. You will get ** when your heater fails. I had to pay an additional $400 for a new heater.

Love the system. Bought a 5 ton 20 SEER Heat Pump. Unit is very quiet, runs on low most all of the time. The house is in LA (Lower Alabama) 30 mile from the Gulf of Mexico. Love the ECONET system. I am able to control the heat pump and my water heater from a app on phone. Helps save money as you can control the temperatures of both with the app when you go off or temperatures needs change with a large group of people in the house. System lets you know when it is time to clean or replace air filters.

My new home has a Rheem RP14 installed. Its terrible. At 32 degrees it produces almost no heat. As a comparison, I lived in a home for over 5 years and had a 2009 model year American Standard base model/builder grade heat pump that performed much better. With the American Standard HP, it would produce heat down to the mid to low 20s before tapping out. I moved into a brand new home in April 2016. I started having issues with my Rheem tankless water heater approximately 5 months after move in. It kept displaying a error code 12. The builder immediately had his plumber come out. We also included the gas provider in attempting to solve the mystery. After very extensive inspection, it was determined there were no issues at all with plumbing of the gas. Rheem sent another plumber out to change the fire rods. That seem to fix the issue. But, the error code returned approximately 2 months later. At that time, they sent another plumber out to do the same thing. Well, here it goes again... The same error code is back. Rheem has been very unresponsive to my requests. My family and I have had to endure this nightmare for a year and a half. Supposedly, we purchased the “top of the line” unit from Rheem. Once my tenant started complaining that there was no hot water, I checked the water heater and the pilot was blown out. I re-lit the pilot and thought it would be good. Several hours later the pilot blew out again. This process happened all weekend. On Sunday night I stayed on hold with Rheem support team for 1 hour and 50 minutes. After explaining what was happening, They reassured me that they would have someone come out and call me tomorrow. That never happened! I have had a lot of back and forth with this company all ending with broken promises. Having me find a plumber and paying for everything. I have left messages and sent emails and feel that this company should be doing right by their paying customers. I will be taking this to the attorney general.

After three years I had to replace my Rheem gas water heater. Due to issue in the gas chamber and it having a leak. After going back and forward with customer service for four days. They finally agreed to replaces it. Since it was still under warranty. But first I had to pay a license plumber to speak/confirm it to them. They didnt even asks for his license #. Two weeks later Im back with no hot water. Due to new water heater having issue with gas chamber AGAIN. I had City Public Service come to check my gas lines/flow. They places a red tag on the heater and stated it was the CONTROL VALVE. Once again customer service said it could not be the control value. Due to it being new. They required a gas pressure count. Which is not cover under the warranty. Im just ready to give up and just go buy a new one AND IT WONT BE RHEEM!!!! But this is what they.

I purchased a Hot water Heater from a local Menards. It was installed by a contractor. 2 weeks after installation, the hot water heater started leaking from the bottom, behind one-panel rust was forming and we had no hot water. My contractor and I called Richmond 800 number, only to be told I can not replace the hot water heater, they have to send out someone to install a part they think might be wrong from pictures I sent them. Keep in mind this is winter and we now have to wait 1 week for it to be fixed. So, NO hot water for my family for 1 week.Nothing Rheem will do or could do to assist other than tell me that the people to repair are on their own time frame. The reps I spoke to on the phone were rude and not helpful at all. I am very disappointed, I feel stuck behind a rock because I dont want to pay for someone to fix it and risk not getting reimbursed. If I had to do this over, I would not purchase this type of water heater only due to the dissatisfaction of customer service.

When this water heater started not working properly, after 5 years, with a 12 year warranty, Rheem made it VERY DIFFICULT and time consuming to get through their phone systems (hold times of 30+ minutes and no answer) to set up appointments, months have gone by. Rheem plumbers have been out twice, Rheem has not fixed the water heater, and now say we need to disconnect and return to Home Depot to get a credit. This would cost hundreds to have a plumber come do this, and in addition HD says they dont have this model number so we can not return it there. No use to have a 12 year warranty that doesnt actually help at all. What a rip off, Dont buy Rheem!

I purchased/installed a 40 gal GE hot water tank from Home Depot just 1 month ago. Its a model SE40M12AAH, w/12-year warranty, and while its a GE brand believe the mfg is Rheem. When the top element is on the tank makes a loud hissing noise and you can almost hear it heating the water. This noise is constant when the hot water was just used, or is running. I cant even stand to work down my basement anymore because of this obnoxious unbearable noise. Sure am glad its not installed on a first floor living area.I called GE/Rheem technical support and the rep asked me what kind of water supply I have? I told him well water but its filtered, doesnt have any iron/sulfur/minerals, and is as clear as spring water. He told me the the top element probably has sediment built up on it and I need to remove it/clean with beach. I told him Ive lived here for 26 years, have had 3 hot water tanks, and none of them ever made this loud noise. I also asked how sediment would build up on the top element since if there is any it would build up at the bottom of the tank? He said I will still need to pull the element out and clean w/bleach. I asked him what tool I needed and he said I need a 1 1/2 deep-well socket to remove the element or a plumbers element removal tool. Think this is called a element winch. Regardless, I dont have one and he told me I will need to get one.The tech did say he would send me a complementary replacement top element.I cant believe after just 1 month of use Im expected to work on this new hot water tank. Should I expect this every month?? I purchased the more expensive 12 -month warranty hot water tank since I thought it would be better and last longer. Its already turning into a nightmare and wish now I wouldnt have gone with GE/Rheem.In looking over the warranty there is a 1-year full warranty where they are supposed to send someone out to replace defective parts free of charge. I sure wasnt offered this service and I saw nowhere in the warranty where they mentioned well water may be a problem. It sure wasnt with the other tanks I had including 2 which were Rheem brands. It should also be noted this tank is listed as a self-cleaning tank so how could any sediment be building up on the elements already? They sure dont build them like they used to. I also miss the exterior bottom thermostat control knob for turning down the temp up/down as needed, or down when you are on vacation. Now you have to remove the bottom thermostat cover, and insulation, to turn the temp up/down with a screwdriver.Ive yet to contact Home Depot on these hot water tank problems and it will be interesting to see what they say.Its kind of ironic Home Depot raised the price on this tank to $366 from $319 a month ago. Nothing like paying $47 more for a hot water tank Im already having problems with after 1 month of use.

Our hot water heater went out and our plumber installed a new one. It would not continuously heat water. Got it traded out for another. Same Problem. For 2 months now, I have to go clear down stairs and reset the system for it to heat water. Now Rheem authorized another plumber to come out and diagnose the issue. The new plumber is saying we need to rip out our 2 inch vent pipe and put in 3 inch vent pipe. Why would we not be told up front this system requires 3 inch versus the 2 inch that houses only 10 years old or so all have!!!

I purchased a water heater last week. I had a guy come into install it for me. He got everything done and went to fire it up and nothing. After talking with the company who said they could send out service, but it could take about 1 week. Well with all the stuff going on in the world and me being a healthcare worker I need hot water. The guy takes off the black box at the top and lo and behold one of the three wires is not connected. Its a manufacturer defect and still will take about one week. So, the guy rigs it so we have hot water. I called 2 business days later because no one called me to set up service to find out that the call was disconnected and he never put it in. He had all my information already. Of course they had an excuse. I will never purchase another water heater from this company again. I also paid the guy to install it and they will not reimburse me anything. You know what I would like to do with this heater.

Eco200pvn tankless water heater - Purchased 2011 still under warranty. Professionally installed. Large investment for efficiency. Flame sensor defective. Unit starts, flames come on then shuts off. Contacted Rheem customer service by email three times no response. Local contractors do not work on this model. Multiple complaints of same problem on line. Major safety problem as the only way to get hot water is to turn the water on and off at the unit so the initial flames warm the water. If the unit starts all members of the family rush to shower while we have hot water. Called customer service limited hours not responsive. Very poor unit! UNSAFE! No customer service. Purchased a Rheems Platinum hot water heater. A little after a year a leak developed and burnt out the control board. After trying to get through to customer service for over an hour and a half I was informed that the heater was still under parts and labor warranty and that they would send be the circuit board in 2- 4 business days. I asked if they could expedite it. Again I was put on hold until the shipping department picked up. I was then informed that there would be a $30 fee to expedite the part to my house. Does not seem fair that I would need to pay for a part that is defective and a direct result of Rheems poor manufacturing. I have a family of 5 without hot water and who knows when the part will arrive and when they can schedule a repair person to install the parts. I pleaded, with no avail, with them to just replace the hot water heater since there was no positive indication of where the leak is occurring. Looks like cold family showers for a while! Totally unfair and lengthy resolution.

Rheem hot water heaters are junk, dont waste your money! I purchase a new Rheem hot water heater less than five (5) months ago from Home Depot and it has already gone bad. We followed the proper channels and called Rheem customer service department and they figured out what they believed went bad on the unit. The customer service representative promised to overnight the part and told us how to replace the part. We have now been six days without hot water as the rep forgot to overnight the part and it now the weekend and they cannot send it until Monday for Tuesday delivery. We called Home Depot for help at this point and their policy is after 90 days we own it and they cannot help us with it unless we want to pay them an additional $100.00 then they would try to help. Dont waste your money and time on this product and think twice about purchase a major buy at Home Depot! Going to give up and just throw away the Rheem and purchase a different brand! This is the third Rheem water heater we have had in 2 years! First one had a leak at installation. Second one leaked while we were on vacation and flooded parts of the basement. The replacement we received today came with a crack in the plastic surrounding the water inlet. Each time Rheem admits the unit is defective but does not make any offer or attempt to pick up their substandard product. Instead I have to disconnect and haul to Home Depot myself. Family has been without hot water for 2 weeks and when the heater finally comes it is cracked. I call Rheem. They tell me to call Home Depot. You go to Home Depot. They need confirmation from Rheem the unit can be returned. Also, when you return the unit Rheem refunds on a pro-rated basis. This means that I paid $1,300 + tax for a defective water heater and they only refund $1,100 because I have had it for 2 years of a 6 year warranty. Then to top it off, if I want to replace the defective unit I HAVE TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE. The unit now cost $1,500 so I have to come up with the $400 + tax difference between the $1,100 they offer for their defective product and the $1,500 they want to charge for a new one. I AM DONE WITH RHEEM!

I wish I knew now what I should have known then. I purchased a 2.5 ton Rheem unit in Jan 2012 and had it installed for my 1000 sq ft condo in AZ. No problems at first but then in Aug 2016 the unit started blowing hot air and had techs come out. After spending almost $1000 for coil cleaning, new blower motor plus other stuff the unit was running again. Then in 2018 it started blowing hot air again. This time I had a handyman who was working on my condo told me the coil were frozen over and let it run blower only for 24 hours and let it thaw out, that worked. Now forward to Aug 2020 in AZ with the temps averaging 114 outside plus covid happening the unit again started blowing out hot air. Techs again come out. Tell me it needs parts, Freon, new condenser and maybe that would fix my problem. It would be about $4000 and it was not guaranteed. It would not happen again. I was told by two companies that Rheem units are a piece of crap and they do not sell them at all. I purchased another new unit. I do not think things should break in less than 10 years. Wish I also knew that Rheem has lawsuits against them in 2014.

NEVER BUY A RHEEM HOT WATER HEATER. We bought a 40 gallon Rheem hot water heater from Home Depot. After 2 weeks we awoke with the house full of fumes and the carbon monoxide alarm was sounding. Here is my experience: 1. They dont actually have technical support. What they have is untrained people, without any actual experience reading a script from a manual. 2. If you have the same issue 2 or 102 times they will repeat the same painstaking process each time as though you never had the problem before. 3. If you ask to speak with a supervisor, they are basically hired to ** the customers and duck liability.About me: I just completed building a duplex single handed. Foundation, framing, electric service, gas service etc. I have done my own HVAC and H2O heaters in my own homes and apt buildings for 40+ years. My workmanship is excellent and take pride in getting it right the first time, every time. So after only a few weeks operation, an H2O heater comes close to killing my wife and myself I call the company. After very frustrating phone calls, they send out a tech. After 45 minutes, without checking gas pressures, or pressure switch or actually doing any diagnostics he resets the controller, starts the heater and leaves. 15 minutes later it is in lockout. More calls, nobody listening to the CO/fume issue, they decide to send a new pilot assembly. There is zero possibility of this fixing a draft problem, but it is the cheapest part they could send. So, their solution is to send a 15$ part that wont fix the issue and turn the thing back on and see if it poisons us again.I declined that solution. They said that was all they were willing to do. Home Depot has said they will replace or give store credit which would be acceptable, but we will see if that follows through. One of the HD workers says he gets a very high return rate on the Rheem unit so my guess is HD will stop selling these in a year or two. In short, Rheems response to a critical, even life threatening situation is completely inadequate, technical assistance is less than what any handyman could find on the web in a couple of minutes, and at 1/10 the aggravation.Another issue (might be the same issue) is the bearings in the blower are awful noisy for a new unit. Rheem used to be a good dependable brand and I still have 3 of their older furnaces installed which I have been mostly satisfied with the exception of the cheap bearings they put in the induction blowers. I wont be buying Rheem/Rudd units again unless they have exceptional reviews.

We purchased a home in Florida 10 yrs ago for when we retired. We purchased a brand new complete Rheem AC unit from Heavenly Air in our town in 2012. We were told they would register it and we would have a 10 year warranty. We finally retired and moved in last fall. So actually the unit was never used on a yearly basis, just while we were here for 2 week vacations twice a year. It was set for 85 degrees any other time. The unit stopped throwing cold air. We called Heavenly Air. Yup, out of business and the company that took over will was no help. We called an air conditioner service they said 1200.00 to replace the coil. They reached out to Rheem, Rheem said it was never registered. I don’t have proof as I trusted Heavenly Air. The original manufacturing date sticker on the unit proves its not even 10 yrs old. Compressor on my Rheem unit serial # 7842W281100514 failed 9 years into a 10 year warranty. Oil leaked from compressor into lines destroying entire system...coil, condenser, transfer lines. Got 2 estimates to replace and both were appx $5500. Rheem said they would give me $570 only to compensate for their faulty compressor but after spending half of summer 2020 with no a/c whatsoever, and countless hours on the phone with two different Reps, I have received nothing. Comically, the last correspondence I received was a rep explaining Id receive the $570 after I paid the installer in full myself. When I questioned this and asked how this would be done procedurally, they went dark...have not heard from them in months. I have literally spent 20-25 hours trying to recoup their measly $570 offer. At this point, I do not want another Rheem system and am pursuing alternatives.

Rheem purchased 10/2014. First call started Spring 2015. Pilot light kept going out. Get up to go to work - cold water. Called Rheem warranty number which by the way are the most dismissive, unfriendly and disrespectful customer service employees l have ever spoken with. Their CEO and CFO should really try using their customer service department. My first call the employee said it must be dust or dirt. l ask why this never happened to my old less expensive water unit - no answer. Months later same pilot problem - doesnt stay lit. Second call girl tells me it cant be the unit. l must have a gas leak or something about cubic feet of air in my garage. She told me l would need to call my local Pacific Gas and Electric Company which l did. Everything was good . NO GAS LEAKS and heater was in a space off the ground, with plenty of cubic ft. Third call l get a male employee. By now my unit is going out 2-3 times a week. He was the rudest one yet. They are sending me a new pilot ignition part, still not received. However even under warranty, its up to me to find a contracted Rheem plumber. They couldnt even recommend someone to call. l ended up calling Home Depot which gave me a local number. If l was a buyer for Home Depot l would stop all purchases of any Rheem water heaters from my own experience along with all these other reviews. Home Depot is too respected of a company to sell this poorly made product, with employees who could care less about your customers. I installed a Rheem 50 gallon electric water heater in September of 2016 and had a manufacture date of August 23, 2016, less than 2 years old. I noticed paint flaking off around the bottom and some minor rust forming around the bottom and where the paint was flaking. The water heater is in a basement room but is on a wood platform and not on a moist floor, and has a dehumidifier 5 feet away. I called Rheem customer service to explain the problem. They asked for pictures, which I sent them. They looked at the pics, and proceeded to blame it on condensation from being in the basement, even though it’s off the floor and right next to a dehumidifier. It’s is right on par with others experiences with Rheem. They do not honor warranties and make all sorts of excuses to not have to replace anything. This unit has a 6 year tank warranty on it, and it’s less than 2 years old. I have never had a water heater rust on the outside from condensation. Rust on the tank is a sign of failure of the inner lining and will only get worse. Luckily, I bought the Home Depot extended warranty as Rheem is useless and screws its customers. Horrible company.

16 year old water heat started leaking. I replaced it with a Rheem 50 gallon Power Vent Propane Water Heater. After 3 weeks it would only heat water to luke warm (tepid) then shut down. I read the bad reviews on this website and thought I made a big mistake. I bought it a Home Depot and had to drive 70 miles to pick it up. The Energy Dept created new standards effective April 2015 and there were only 2 in Southwest Ohio. Cant go without hot water very long (spoiled Americans). With all the bad reviews, why would HD carry this product?I called Rheem customer service and MY experience was the OPPOSITE of everything posted on this site. All were most helpful to troubleshoot. Sent a new pressure switch. I changed it and that didnt fix it. I am a very good DIY person. There arent that many parts to a water heater but a Power Vent heater is a little more complicated. I think I ended up (ultimately) speaking to 5 customer service people. The last was a guy that only advised on Power Vent models. He asked about the baffle in the middle under the Power Vent. I was sticking out about 1 inch but looked normal to me as I didnt know what was normal/abnormal. Apparently during the drive from Columbus to Cincinnati it worked itself out (it should be flush with the shoulder). I asked if I could set on its side during transit and the HD person said yes as long as I didnt set it on the side with the controls. Made sense but the baffle vibrated out a bit. The fuel/air ratio was confused. Anyway the last guy told me to push this baffle down. It was firm. I put a piece of wood on it and gave it a quick bang and it went down flush!!! I powered it up and it now produces scalding water. Hot setting is plenty. You do not need VERY HOT. You will get burned. To summarize, I wanted to counter all the bad reviews about Rheem water heaters and let others know they WILL help you and send a part/technician right away if necessary. Working perfectly now.

Last year in October Purchased a whole Rheem heating and AC unit installed by a local dealer Dynamic Air Haledon NJ. The board on the furnace blew out during the first Winter. Which was fixed and the AC unit kept freezing up all summer. The installer still has not been able to resolve the issue and have spent days and nights without air due to the condenser freezing up. Anyone else have this issue?

Purchased a Rheem 40 gallon water heater back in September 2020. Water heater stopped working November 2021, one month out of the year labor warranty, go figure. I’ve been waiting days for the new part, with no straight answer. If you want dependable equipment go with A.O. Smith for your water heater, and Trane for your heating and cooling. I have been an installer for over 10 years. And nothing but problems with all Rheem equipment, and replacement parts.

Yesterday around 5:30 pm I heard a loud popping sound and looked up. Saw sparks coming from the lower level of my home. Upon further investigation, I started to see and smell smoke. Once I figured out where the smoke was coming, I quickly discovered the source of the smoke, which was from my Rheem hot water heater that had caught on fire.

Replaced my old water heater three years ago with a six year warranty Rheem water heater. It is leaking profusely from the bottom, damaging a wall and custom wood cabinetry in my kitchen. Quoted $700 dollars, by Home Depot (they did the installation) to remove the faulty water heater and replace it, which Rheem does not cover. Why should someone be charged such exorbitant fees to remove and replace a defective water heater, under warranty?

If you thinking getting a tankless water tank think about it. It can take up to 75 second to get hot water, if you do not have a recirculation loop in your house forget it. The Rheem does not have a buffer tank in the unit. You will have to get install a recirculation pump and a mini water tank beside to keep a certain quantity of hot water to be use until the tank warm up the rest of the water you need. But if you go for Navien NPE series you will need just the recirculation loop. That brand have the buffer tank inside the unit. And you have a app to change the temperature of the water from anywhere is your house. If I knew that I would go for that one and the price is less than Rheem and better guarantee. Do not trust any sale rep who come to your home. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU GO FOR ANY TANKLESS WATER TANK. AND KNOW YOUR HOUSE PLUMBING.

We bought the 30 gallon water heater March 3, 2021 and was installed the next day. The tank started large amounts of water from all over the tank. We had to turn off the water supply since we could not get it to stop leaking. I thought Rheem was a good brand but I am finding out that it is not. To top it off I have tried calling their help phone line 6 times and each time I just get disconnected the last 2 times I called. The first time I called 800-621-5622 the calls never picked up, never went through or the recording said there would be a 1 hour and a half wait. Not very good customer service! We need help and a new water heater. It should last longer than 9 months. Someone needs to call me at ** and ask for John B.

Rheem he80-130n commercial water heater - I own a restaurant in Phoenix and your water heater was nothing but trouble for me. Its a real hunk of junk. The unit was very expensive to begin with and was only 2 years old when the first igniter went out. Now, when the unit was 3 and a half years old, the igniter went out again and blew the main board. We replaced blown igniter again and blown board again. The plumber I had working on it said the unit was poorly designed. I cant believe what a hunk of junk this unit is. On top of that, I could not buy parts on the west coast. I had to have them shipped next day from Boston. It really is bad business to have a product that you cant even get parts for. A restaurant cant run without hot water, so it needs to be easy to repair. But to only last for 3 years and cost $6,000 is totally unacceptable. That I put $900 in parts and the unit still only worked for a couple of days is crap! So I had to take your unit out and replace it with another one, which cost me a lot of time and money ($5,000). It also caused my business to suffer from having to close kitchen because of your faulty product design. You would think for all that money this unit would work much better than it does. For the igniter to blow and destroy the motherboard, that’s a poor design. I believe your company should refund me part of the cost of the unit for it being such a piece of crap, or at least for the parts that I purchased and the labor to install them. Just an extremely unhappy customer!

We bought a water heater in 2009. 2014 - realized it was leaking all over the garage. Called the big box store from which we purchased and was told we would only get $140.00 credit towards a new water heater. To my understanding GE and Rheem are no longer affiliated so the warranty becomes pro-rated. Therefore the 12 year warranty we thought we were getting is no longer good. I called the 800 number on the water heater and talked to 3 different people. 2 were very rude. The last lady I spoke to gave me an address to write a letter and complain. If there is a class action lawsuit in the works, I would love to be part of it. Rheem owes me $490.00.

Had the one fail after 3 years and was told I had to bring it to Home Depot myself and then Home Depot only gave me a credit for lowest sale price of the unit instead of even exchange. Anywho as I needed a water heater and Id rather use the credit then lose it all I decided to pay the difference and bought the platinum edition unit with the 12 year warranty with 3 year in home labor coverage. However, 2 hours after install I noticed the pan was filled with dirty water. Turned out the internal tank failed. POOR quality control. No way this tank was tested at 300psi as the sticker states. Maybe the brand but not my specific tank! So meanwhile I just got done lugging old one into Home Depot, then this one home, installed etc. Now been trying to reach Rheem for 5 days straight but they are having phone issues. Finally get ahold of them and am told its under warranty so I can on my own dime and my own hurting back uninstall this unit, drive it to Home Depot and exchange it even though paperwork and stickers on tank say DO NOT RETURN TO STORE... So I guess this 12 year warranty just means that Im able to install/uninstall for exchanges for a period of 12 years worth of crap merchandise? What is the point in having a 3 year labor in home warranty if they wont send anyone to my home!

I bought a Rheem Water Heater from Home Depot and had it installed on 2/9/17. Once it was done, I found leak. After talking to Rheems customer technical support rep, she admitted its a leak from the tank and asked me to return it to Home Depot to get a replacement. I had to spend more time and labor cost to uninstall the 1st one and then reinstall the 2nd one. After that, I have asked for a compensation.Rheems customer service team in April asked me to send proof of payment for services such as a copy of your cancelled check FRONT/BACK or a credit card statement. If paid by cash, please be sure to provide the phone number for technician/company so we can confirm payment with them, which I did through both regular mail and email. But so far I have not heard from them anything. When I called Rheems customer service #, they said they wont handle it. I have to contact their billing department. But they wont provide the contact phone #. I had to BBB to help me, but no result. Cant believe how bad their service is. So next time when you buy a water heater, be very careful!

Ive been around Rheem for 40 yrs and they have been reliable in the past but not now. If this company is cutting corners to make more profit they are headed down a dead end road. If this inside coil goes out again I will not get it replaced by a Rheem product (which the part should be under warranty) which means I will in effect be buying an inside unit 3 times and outside unit twice. Had a water heater installed approx. 3 months ago. 3 weeks ago it started tripping the circuit breaker. After inspection, we found the insulation around the lower heating coil was soaked so had the lower heating coil replaced and dried everything out. Last week it started doing it again. Upon closer inspection they found the tank was leaking higher up and was irreparable. When I spoke with Rheem customer service I requested to speak with the service reps supervisor/manager who told me in a flat tone that while Rheem would cover the part and materials they did not have to cover the cost of labor. When asked why I should have to cover the labor cost to replace a 3 month old unit that only needs replacing due to a fault that is their responsibility, I was given the same flat-toned scripted response. I assured them if Rheem was not going to be flexible enough to work with its customers when the cost should rightly fall to them then I would not waste another cent with them and ensure anyone I encountered knew why.All work done by a licensed/certified/bonded contractor that Ive done business with for many years and has an impeccable reputation. This is not my first encounter with Rheem but it is also nothing different. Im usually a forgiving person but things like repetitive bad customer service stick with me for a long time and though this incident may cost me a couple hundred dollars I will do my best to ensure it cost them as much as possible in lost customers. My advice? Avoid Rheem products at all cost.

Our water heater was professionally installed in May 2011. Last month the unit started leaking. I pulled out the paperwork and went online to verify the warranty. According to their warranty verification site, the warranty was valid through 6/11/2024. I called the Rheem customer service line (800-432-8373) and spoke to someone that confirmed that the warranty was valid. He said I needed to have a plumber look at the unit first and he gave me the name of a plumber that I could use. I paid $140 for him to come out and he confirmed that the unit was properly installed and the heat exchanger was leaking. I called Rheem back on 6/26/15 and the customer service agent (Scott, who was very nice) asked some basic questions including Were you the homeowner at the time the unit was installed? I bought the house one year ago. He then told me that because I was not the owner of the home when it was installed, the warranty was not valid.I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me was the one in charge. I asked to speak to his manager and he took my information and told me he would have him call me but no one ever did. I sent an email to Rheems customer service center and again got no response. As a result, I have had to pay $1,975 to buy a new tankless water heater and have it installed. To make matters worse, I was forced to buy another Rheem as any other brand would have required additional costs to retrofit the piping to fit that product (according to the plumber that Rheem referred). I feel that the product failed after 4 years and this should have nothing to do with the fact that I bought the house 3 years after it was installed. I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the new unit under the original warranty. I am also disappointed that Rheem did not respond to my request to speak to a manager or my email to their customer service center.

On Tuesday, May 1, 2018 my water heater, which was purchased and installed on 8/28/17 stopped working. We contacted Rheem and was told that they would send a replacement part and would send someone to install it. After we received the part, Rheem told us that they did not have anyone to service our area and we would have to find our own person. We contacted several companies and we finally found someone to come out, but they wanted to be paid at the point of service. The contractor informed us that it was the wrong part, so we contacted the company again and they sent us another part. The new part arrived on Friday, May 4, 2018 and after installation the contractor informed us that the machine needed to be replaced. We contacted Rheem again and they told us that they would put in a request for replacement through one of their companies and we would be contacted within 24 hours. We waited the entire weekend and Monday morning to be contacted. Finally, we called Rheem back and they gave us the number to the contractor whom they sent the order. The contractor told us that they told Rheem that they do not service the area. We contacted Rheem again and they told us that they would need 24 more hours to contact another company. On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, I was told by a rude representative that they have done all they can do and she would transfer me to another department, who she said could help me. I spoke with a new rep who was more understanding of the fact that I have not had hot water in over a week; however, he put me on hold and transferred me to another department. I spoke with another rep who told me that I can find a person on my own because it was nothing they could do. I asked to speak with a manager and she told me to hold on and transferred me to Fidelity Bank. We have not found a company who are wants to work with this company and no one can help us with this faulty product.

New Rheem heat pump installed on 5/2012. Polar Bear Heat & Cooling warrantied this unit in writing parts and labor 12 months. Parts warrantied for ten years. The compressor failed after ten months. Not sure how many of the water heaters made by Rheem are faulty. But mine was (just a knob in the front, so far) and let me tell you, the customer service sucks. They were rude and dismissive to my plumber when he called the night he installed it. Then neither of us could get hold of them the following day (a Wednesday). Finally on Thursday morning, I reached someone who was clearly bored and not caring. She told me a local contractor had the job so I needed to call them. A rude and dismissive person was eventually reached (after 2 hours of calling) at the local contractor number. Nobody could come out until the following day, Friday (today). When he finally showed up, he told me he was there to do a determination on what was needed. Then he had to call Rheem, and order the part. Which would not be shipped until Monday! Mind you, this puts me at a week without hot water, apparently due to the company who makes this water heater not caring!!! DO NOT BUY A RHEEM PRODUCT.

I installed several same type of Rheem water heaters in my apartments. One of them keeps turning off pilot. I called the Rheem customer support and technique support several times. Every time, I have to wait for long long time before I was able to talk to the support. Every time, they sent me a new pilot assembly since my water heater is still under warranty. I have to spend a lot of money to hire professional to install the pilot for me. The latest one was installed last week but the pilot was off again today. I think that the water heater really has a defect since beginning so the pilot was off again and again since my another same type of Rheem water heater works well so far that was installed in another apartment within the same fourplex building. The two apartments and locations for the water heater are identical. Honestly, I requested Rheem to replace the water heater for me since it is under warranty and it has defects. But Rheem refused to replace my water heater, instead kept sending me a new pilot. But every time, I had to pay for professionals to install it. Updated 08/16/2021: Six month old RHEEM hot water heater stopped working. I could not get thru to anyone at RHEEM by phone nor their webpage. Their webpage said they had no service workers in my area. So per warranty, I paid a plumbing company to repair it. Warranty says 1 yr., parts and labor. Found them on FaceBook and left a review, finally after several days and messages they called and emailed me paperwork to have filled out. Had to chase down the plumber for a list of parts and labor broken down, their W-9 form, and RHEEM wanted copies of CANCELED check from the bank. Lucky I paid cash! Sent it all in certified return receipt. All sent in 6-30-21. Today is 8-16-21, I have received nothing from them. My post on their FB page have been deleted. Please check their reviews online before purchasing from them, I am NOT the only one with RHEEM problems.Original Review: Bought Rheem 40 gal electric HWH in January 2021, now it is 6 mos and it just stopped working. I have had a hot water heater from Rheem for under 2 years now and first my pilot light and igniter went out. I thought nothing of it. I continued to relight the pilot light and it worked. After about a 2 weeks or so I was down in my basement and smelt gas. I was alarmed I called Elizabeth Town Gas, and they told me to evacuate my house. I did. With that being said I found out that the tubing coupling was sliced. I called Rheem for replacement parts. First they sent out the pilot light igniter. Now that we know that the coupling is sliced we called Rheem and it has been a week for them to ship out this part. I live on the East Coast, where Rheem is located, there has been no tracking number. The replacement part is in stock, says one of the assistants from the call center. But still no replacement part. My water heater was not even five years, I had a six-year warranty. Sunday morning I awake to a flooded garage. As an elderly disabled woman, I didnt know what to do. That day I had to get it replaced, which was very costly for me, I felt relieved that it was still under warranty. I called first thing Monday morning, he asked me so many questions, then made me go out in the rain to remove a metal panel from the unit and drilled me on what I saw inside. After that he then claimed it was a parts issue that could of been replaced and therefore his hands were tied and couldnt do anything for me. Who could go for days waiting for a part that I wouldnt know to do with it when I got it and go without a shower for days. They will find any reason not to cover their products, even with a warranty. They have no consideration what people go through and the work and damages it causes. Will never purchase any of their products again and tell everyone I know.

We live in an area that the energy company has the ability to shut off your hot water tank to save energy as well as have power failures. This means we HAVE to reset our water tank every time or we have no hot water. I had to pay for an electrician to see if I had enough power, which I told them I had, then I had to get the plumber back a number of times. First it may be the fuses, OK Then it may be the Keypad OK another $85.00 OK then it may be the computer board, or the fan, or some more fuses maybe another $500.00 plus labor.I just played that game with one of my 4 ton Prestige HVAC units $2,000.00 on service & parts. None of the codes were right, all the 6 parts for thousands never worked, and then they changed the handler, after a month of no heat and $2,000 paid to a HVAC company. Anybody wants to know more contact me. I have went through 4 keypads on my Raypak heat pump another Rheem product, and my other 4 ton heat pump has a loud knocking bearing noise that I will live with. While we understand the terms of a warranty, when a product dies only a few months after the warranty expires it is extraordinarily disappointing. When we spoke to Rheem about this matter and were concerned about what appears to be a planned obsolescence of a product, they could have cared less. They were disrespectful and rude. Given the option to purchase another water heater in the future we will NOT use Rheem. And when we checked at the local Home Depot we find their warranty which was 9 years has now been reduced to 6 years. And based on their previous warranty if you purchase a Rheem expect it to die around 6 years and a few months. Sad and disappointing.

This short-sighted strategy creates an incentive to produce subpar products. I bought a Rheem water heater 3 weeks ago. Installation went well. But then the pilot light went out the next morning. I restarted it right away. After 1-3 days it keeps going out. It never stays lit. I called Rheem - they told me that they would replace it or fix it. They told me to get a plumber to come out. The plumber called up Rheem and told them that everything was hooked up properly but it is not working correctly - that it needs to be replaced. They told them that there was a tiny leak in the water that they tighten and fixed instantly but it had nothing to do with the problem. Rheem told them that it is not covered now because there was a water leak. I cant even begin to tell you how small this leak was. It was nothing. Rheem was just looking for any excuse not to replace it. They are such a joke.I would never buy another Rheem - I would never recommend one. My plumber kept telling them that the water had nothing to do with why this is not working. But they didnt care. They told me to go buy another one. Horrible customer service. Horrible product. Stay away from Rheem. Even my plumber told me that I should have read more reviews - most of their repairs are for Rheem.

We bought our water heater a bit over a year ago. Since then we encountered two pilot assembly repairs and today the water heater started leaking. I will definitely want to pay more in the future and will never ever buy Rheem product again! Shame on this crap of a company!!!!

I had a 5 ton Rheem heat pump installed in 2006 to replace a prior AC that lasted 25 years. Two weeks ago, I had to replace the condenser fan and the reversing valve to the tune of over a thousand dollars. Last Friday, I came home from work and the house was 90 degrees inside. I called my HVAC man and he came out. The blower motor had gone out. Not only did it go out, but the barrel and housing is rusted onto the motor and cant be removed. Parts are not in stock and have to be ordered. I will be without air for a week when the parts get here with an outside average temp of 110 here in Arizona. I wouldnt put another Rheem on my roof if they gave it to me for free. What a piece of crap. By the time the repairs are done, I will be in this over $2,000. My advice is to stay away from this product and company. If they cant make a product where you dont have to replace almost every major part in it in only 6 years, it’s obvious they dont care about customer satisfaction. This is my opinion. You can take it or leave it.

I have a Rheem water heater Model # 22V30F with a broken Pilot Knob. I contacted Rheem and multiple parts suppliers. They all told me the same thing. Rheem does NOT sell the Pilot Knob individually. I need to purchase the Gas Control Valve which costs anywhere from $80.00 to $150.00. What a ripoff! Only the Federal Government would pay $80.00 or more for a knob that is worth less than $5.00. I guess Rheem wants to Ream their customers. I will never ever purchase any Rheem products again. I have seen the same knob on other brands of water heaters. I will try to get a knob from one of them.

Actually we had to replace a part to central air approx. $120. But the electrician said to be prepared to replace your unit within a year. She's old and past her life expectancy. She's a good girl B/C most die well before this and she only had a couple problems, nothing major. I would stick same brand. Rheem. So we are now checking in on some. And glad we had heads up. Because we could look around and price.

Model 13PJL60A01 - This A/C unit was installed in our new home in December of 2010. Not even 5 years old it has 3 A/C Freon leaks -- The first in the air handler coil which had to be replaced and two in the outside unit in the same location. Each time the unit has been repaired we have had to pay $540.00 for the Freon replacement. That is over $1,600.00 in Freon alone. A new unit only cost just over $2,000.00. This unit is prone to leaks and vibration. Rheem seems to want to do nothing... I Rate Rheem extremely poor on quality.

My water heater failed and after contacting Rheem tech support they agreed that the unit needed needed to be replaced. No one in my region [including Rheem] had any replacements so Rheem told me to purchase one from Home Depot, which I did. After months of emails, submitting numerous copies of documents and hours of phone calls I received a check for 1/2 of the replacement unit value. Rheem informed me that the unit wasnt worth what I paid for it. My cost would have been the same from Rheem, Home Depot or a Rheem authorized dealer. Rheems lifetime warranty is a lie. Its a great water heater, but you would be better served buying a decent quality unit from another manufacturer. If I had known that they werent going to honor the warranty I wouldve bought a different brand.

I purchased a new Rheem water heater in December of 2021, 3 weeks later the electrical heating control unit failed per plumbers diagnosis. He recommended exchanging and installing another water heater. Home Depot was great about the exchange but Plummer said I would have to pay for the labor as he has had problems in the past getting paid by some manufacturers. So I paid him and then filled a claim with Rheem get reimburse... Im still waiting on my money and they are not responding to any of my emails. :-(

We installed a Rheem tankless water heater system in February 2017 and starting about a year ago, it has consistently failed to produce hot water. It appears to be a computer/software problem, as our plumber is able to reboot it, but we have not been able to do so following the manual. The reboot may last a few weeks, or 24 hours, and there seems to be no discernible trigger. Our next step will be to remove the system and replace it with traditional water heaters.

They will keep stalling on replacing your water heater until you give up and buy a new one because you need hot water. 12-year warranty tank, only 4 years old. Already had to replace the thermocouple 2 years ago. Second failure now only lets it give hot water for 1-2 minutes and its out. Since this was not my first bad experience with a Rheem heater customer support, I just went straight to a plumber. They told me the tank needs to be replaced. OK, next day I call support, they want me to check a couple things and get back to them, fair enough. Call back 2 days later, they have no record I ever called so we start the entire process again, and they decide to send me a new gas control valve even though the first person I talked to said that didnt fit the symptoms. 2 days later I get it, and install it. Still broken, call back again, by now its been a week without any hot water, and everyone in the house is pissed at me. They want me to run a water temperature test AGAIN for a third time, even though Im already well aware the water gets hot... it just runs out in about 2 minutes. They want to send me another gas control valve, even though I just installed a new one they sent me that day. Which I wouldnt get until Tuesday since its a Saturday. Refuse to allow me to trade it in for a new one, and the supervisor tells me its clearly a plumbing issue since the gas control valve was replaced and I checked the dip tube and its not cracked or broken. He tells me just like a water heater, parts can fail in plumbing. My copper pipes can fail somehow causing hot water to run out quick? With zero plumbing changes? Yeah, OK, they clearly are just coming up with any excuse possible to not give me a working water heater. At this point I need hot water, so I give up and go buy a Whirlpool. Hey, I have all the hot water I want now, turns out my copper pipes didnt break in a fashion that sucks the hot water up. Shocker, it was the water heater. $750 down the drain on a new water heater because their support refuses to actually help.
