Bought a Rheem water heater in Feb 2012. After 11 months Jan 2013 thermocouple went out. Replaced no charge. Feb 2014 thermocouple goes out again. Will ship the part to me but I need to pay labor. I was told by a Rheem rep the new part has been redesigned but Rheem was not covering labor even though it affect all the water heaters they make. Very angry and disappointed in Rheem product and customer service. At this point labor cost for repair is $95.00 a hour. A lot of money for a unemployed person!!!

I have bought two Rheem tankless water heaters in the last three years. The first was undersized and quit working. I get that. The second was the Professional RTEX-27 series which is classified as a whole house water heater. Had for 11 months and it also quit working. 743.00 dollars for a 10 month water heater, never again.

Purchased a Rheem Hot Water through Home Depot. Heaters improper wiring caused popping and arcing once turned on. Paid certified electrician ($50) to repair heaters electrical harness. Reported problem to Rheem who requested service invoice, electricians license number, phone number, serial number, model number, and proof of service payment. Twice I sent Rheem requested information. Twice Rheem requested the same information. To date, Rheem has not reimbursed me for service and has been unwilling to process claim. Apparently, customer service after a purchase is not a company value.

I bought a 75 gallons water heater and it stopped working in 6 months. Contacted Rheem to have it fixed. And they sent me replacement parts while claimed that my labor warranty is not available (on the heaters specification and receipt stated 1 year labor and 6 years parts warranty). They took almost a month to have this issue solved with multiple parts sent. 6 months later, the heater failed again. This time, they want me to get a multimeter and test each components to find out which one fail so they can send me that part. My family is without heated water for another month during this cold winter. I will not buy another Rheem or company related products after this horrible experience.

I have a Rheem water heater and the upper thermostat went bad in a unit that is less than a year old with me. Called the support number on the unit due to no hot water. Troubleshooted it and they said they had to have me call an electrician to check the unit for proper power. I did and the unit has a bad upper thermostat. Rheem support argued with me about the electrician did not do the right testing but yet they are sending me a upper thermostat anyway, the support person did nothing to help the customer and I called back and it got worse from there. The other customer service person argued with me that the power was wrong and the unit was hooked up wrong but yet the unit worked fine for the first 7 month I have had it.I had this unit installed by a professional plumber company that does these all day long and I was surprised he could tell how it was hooked up from his chair at his house WOW!!! Rheem has wizards working for them now!!! This type of support was so bad and as the customer I am wrong because from their home where they sit answering the phone they can tell how I have this unit installed wrong even after having professional people look at it. WOW Rheem you have the best employees on the face of the earth!! So if you buy a Rheem hot water heater be prepared to have your family suffer on a SUNDAY of all days to run out of hot water and get their wizard support team to tell you the customer how wrong you are and how you installed their unit wrong. Lesson learned here DO NOT BUY RHEEM!!! For anything!!!! Four day wait before I have hot water again and another $200 to have their junk installed. Really. THANKS RHEEM. NOT!!!!

On Tuesday, May 1, 2018 my water heater, which was purchased and installed on 8/28/17 stopped working. We contacted Rheem and was told that they would send a replacement part and would send someone to install it. After we received the part, Rheem told us that they did not have anyone to service our area and we would have to find our own person. We contacted several companies and we finally found someone to come out, but they wanted to be paid at the point of service. The contractor informed us that it was the wrong part, so we contacted the company again and they sent us another part. The new part arrived on Friday, May 4, 2018 and after installation the contractor informed us that the machine needed to be replaced. We contacted Rheem again and they told us that they would put in a request for replacement through one of their companies and we would be contacted within 24 hours. We waited the entire weekend and Monday morning to be contacted. Finally, we called Rheem back and they gave us the number to the contractor whom they sent the order. The contractor told us that they told Rheem that they do not service the area. We contacted Rheem again and they told us that they would need 24 more hours to contact another company. On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, I was told by a rude representative that they have done all they can do and she would transfer me to another department, who she said could help me. I spoke with a new rep who was more understanding of the fact that I have not had hot water in over a week; however, he put me on hold and transferred me to another department. I spoke with another rep who told me that I can find a person on my own because it was nothing they could do. I asked to speak with a manager and she told me to hold on and transferred me to Fidelity Bank. We have not found a company who are wants to work with this company and no one can help us with this faulty product.

I bought a Rheem gas water heater and about 2 months later, it makes a loud popping noise and goes out. I call the company and they are rude with me. I have been on the phone back and forth with these people for 2 months and I still do not have hot water. The part they sent did not fix it. My plumber says its not fixable and needs to be returned, but apparently the company is going to go bankrupt if they let me return the water heater and will not give me a return code. I dont know how many things Im expected to do before they finally decide to give me the code. Im beyond frustrated. Im a single mom with cancer and its difficult for me to take my kids and I to someone elses house everyday to shower. If I had the money, I would trash the thing and buy another one (different brand) just so I wouldnt have to deal with this company anymore. I will definitely not be buying another water heater from Rheem ever and I will make sure everyone I know is aware of their lack of friendly customer service and a heart. No one should have to go this long without hot water.

Bought a new electric water heater. The 40 gallon professional series from Home Depot. I am a maintenance man for a living and have installed several water heaters with no problem. Got this one home. Put in new breaker. Installed heater. Never did get hot. Called the number on tank and went thru a checklist. The tech talked me thru and decided the thermostat needed to be replaced. They sent me a new one installed. It same thing doesnt work. Called Home Depot and they delivered another new water heater. Took a $100 dollars off the price. Installed the second one and it doesnt work either. So now Im taking it back to Home Depot and going to purchase different brand. Second time this summer I have bought a major appliance from Home Depot and encountered problems.

Ok out of all the reviews Ive read heres one that you should all read if youre going to buy a Rheem. I replaced a GE for the Rheem and in less than a year I had 6 instances where I had no hot water and each time was when it rained. Now I had my handyman install it (who wouldnt right). Wrong... Had Rheem plumbing contractor come out who told me unit was flooded because the housing unit was not secured right allowing water into the housing unit which collected in the water heater... My warranty that expired on 2028 was now null and void one year into ownership. I strong urge everyone to not buy Rheem. The fine print is where they get you where it hurts. I had to pay $250 to get it working again but if it goes out again Im screwed with no warranty. BUYER BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY... I will be filing a complaint with Rheem and Better Business and Consumer Affairs. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN EVER!!!

Rheem he80-130n commercial water heater - I own a restaurant in Phoenix and your water heater was nothing but trouble for me. Its a real hunk of junk. The unit was very expensive to begin with and was only 2 years old when the first igniter went out. Now, when the unit was 3 and a half years old, the igniter went out again and blew the main board. We replaced blown igniter again and blown board again. The plumber I had working on it said the unit was poorly designed. I cant believe what a hunk of junk this unit is. On top of that, I could not buy parts on the west coast. I had to have them shipped next day from Boston. It really is bad business to have a product that you cant even get parts for. A restaurant cant run without hot water, so it needs to be easy to repair. But to only last for 3 years and cost $6,000 is totally unacceptable. That I put $900 in parts and the unit still only worked for a couple of days is crap! So I had to take your unit out and replace it with another one, which cost me a lot of time and money ($5,000). It also caused my business to suffer from having to close kitchen because of your faulty product design. You would think for all that money this unit would work much better than it does. For the igniter to blow and destroy the motherboard, that’s a poor design. I believe your company should refund me part of the cost of the unit for it being such a piece of crap, or at least for the parts that I purchased and the labor to install them. Just an extremely unhappy customer!

Not sure how many of the water heaters made by Rheem are faulty. But mine was (just a knob in the front, so far) and let me tell you, the customer service sucks. They were rude and dismissive to my plumber when he called the night he installed it. Then neither of us could get hold of them the following day (a Wednesday). Finally on Thursday morning, I reached someone who was clearly bored and not caring. She told me a local contractor had the job so I needed to call them. A rude and dismissive person was eventually reached (after 2 hours of calling) at the local contractor number. Nobody could come out until the following day, Friday (today). When he finally showed up, he told me he was there to do a determination on what was needed. Then he had to call Rheem, and order the part. Which would not be shipped until Monday! Mind you, this puts me at a week without hot water, apparently due to the company who makes this water heater not caring!!! DO NOT BUY A RHEEM PRODUCT.

Summary: $1,500 water heater was declared a lemon by Rheems tech support -- Rheem will not issue a full refund. I purchased a 50 gallon Rheem water heater (PROPG50-40N RH67 PD) from an authorized Rheem dealer, Johnson Thermol Temp Inc., Washington, MI. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi feature, used to raise/lower the water temperature from a smartphone, never worked consistently. After a seemingly random period of time (a few hours to a week) the Wi-Fi connection would drop, resulting in lukewarm-to-cold showers.During the next several months I placed many calls and invested dozens of hours of personal time working with Rheems tech support. To prove my home network wasnt the issue I was required to purchase and install two different Wi-Fi extenders. Rheem/Johnson Thermal made several attempts to troubleshoot the problem. They replaced the Wi-Fi unit. They replaced the gas valve three times. Nothing worked. Unable to solve the problem Rheems tech support declared the water heater a lemon (their words, not mine, case number 3137948) and told me to return it and Johnson Thermal would provide a refund.Johnson Thermal took the water heater back. A few weeks passed; no refund. After two more phone calls to Johnson Thermal and another week went by I received a partial, $700 refund. Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Rheem failed. I placed two calls to their warranty group. Both times I was told that the manager was not available but would call back. Neither call was returned. Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Johnson Thermal failed. I placed a call to the manager -- it was not returned. A partial refund is not acceptable for a water heater that *never* worked properly. My expectation was/is for a full, $1500 refund.

We had our water heater replaced in Dec 2020 with a Rheem Performance 40 gal that was manufactured in July of 2020. August 13th 2021 the S.I.T. valve went bad, so I contacted Rheem on Monday August 16th as it was a manufacturer warranty issue. Rheem was quick to provide a replacement part and tell me they would schedule a technician. Three days later no part, no technician, no hot water. I called back and this time was told the first service rep had misspelled information and they would fix it and get things sent, but they had no technicians in my area so I could pay a plumber myself and submit it for eventual reimbursement. At this point I was losing patience, the following Monday August 23, we had now been without hot water over a week, but now I had replacement parts, but plumbers in the area werent willing to work on Rheem products and the ones that were were over priced. We are on a fixed income and thanks to other repairs and safety upgrades our savings was nearly gone.I contacted over 22 plumbers and finally just called Rheem back and told them they needed to send a technician because no one wanted to touch their product, if I had still been able to I would have gone to the basement and done it myself. The person showed no empathy so I asked for a supervisor and was put on hold for about 40 minutes, when I finally got the supervisor and was going over this whole thing I glibly remarked,I mean you guys obviously knew you were send out bad units, you have a line dedicated to the specific issue. To which the supervisor (Chris) surprisingly responded, Yes we know. This company knowingly send out bad units, to be installed in homes, offices, daycares... what if the valve had gone bad the other way and not shut off? It could have blown the tank, because relief valves fail more commonly than you would expect. This is a bad company operating on bad policy and in bad faith.

I have purchased Rheem Tankless Water Heater. Their warranty states 5 years. My heater broke recently and had to be replaced. Rheem renewed their water heater since my purchase and new unit had to be installed. Even though it was under warranty I was charged $100 extra to get the new unit. Their warranty is not really good if they charge you for the new unit especially when there is an issue with their own equipment. On top of that I had to pay labor again which was not covered under the warranty and I understood. I contacted Rheem directly, however, they pointed me to their distributors and it is not up to Rheem while the distributor clearly pointed to Rheem.

Previous water heater was leaking. Contracted plumbing company to have water heater replaced. They recommended Rheem Water Heater (Model # 22V40FN). Installation Date: 02/17/2012. Paid $850.00. 12/7/2013 - Thermocouple had to be replaced. Part was covered, paid for labor $175.00. 04/24/2014 - No hot water again... Plumbers came out, re-lit pilot light, paid labor $75.00. They said nothing is wrong with unit and to contact PG& E to do safety check. PG&E came out and found nothing wrong with the areas surrounding the water heater. They checked the pilot light and said it would go out again. Problem with water heater itself. Contacted plumber again and they dont know what the problem is. 05/09/14 - No hot water again. Contacted a couple of different plumbers but they refused to work on Rheem products. Contacted Rheem Technical Support and they gave me telephone numbers for two plumbers that were in my area. 1st one said they will charge a service fee of $110.00 just to come out and second one didnt return phone call. Will never ever buy a Rheem product again.

We confidentially purchased a Rheem. Got water heater a few years ago. Well it failed. I called Rheem to enact the warranty and customer service told me they were sending an email with directions to take photos. After taking said photos I was to call them back 15 minutes after sending the email. After much confusion, I did (I had no idea what a heat exchanger was.. Thank goodness for it Youtube). On the return call I was informed that it was under full warranty and to remove the unit and return it to the original place of purchase. If the new unit costs more I am responsible for the difference but ... I would get a brand new warranty. If it was the same price the old warranty would still be in effect. So I hang up and call the plumbing supply store where we purchased the unit. I was told that Not only do I have to pay the entire cost of the unit up front (I will be allegedly be reimbursed for the original purchase price after Rheem reimburses them) but I have to pay a “service fee” of $125! I also have to pay a plumber to come and uninstall the defective unit then pay again to have him install the new unit! How is this a full warranty? Never again. It’s costing me a fortune to replace a defective unit! These expenses should be on Rheem not me.

This is the third Rheem water heater we have had in 2 years! First one had a leak at installation. Second one leaked while we were on vacation and flooded parts of the basement. The replacement we received today came with a crack in the plastic surrounding the water inlet. Each time Rheem admits the unit is defective but does not make any offer or attempt to pick up their substandard product. Instead I have to disconnect and haul to Home Depot myself. Family has been without hot water for 2 weeks and when the heater finally comes it is cracked. I call Rheem. They tell me to call Home Depot. You go to Home Depot. They need confirmation from Rheem the unit can be returned. Also, when you return the unit Rheem refunds on a pro-rated basis. This means that I paid $1,300 + tax for a defective water heater and they only refund $1,100 because I have had it for 2 years of a 6 year warranty. Then to top it off, if I want to replace the defective unit I HAVE TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE. The unit now cost $1,500 so I have to come up with the $400 + tax difference between the $1,100 they offer for their defective product and the $1,500 they want to charge for a new one. I AM DONE WITH RHEEM!

Bought a new Rheem 50 gallon gas water heater from Home Depot. Plumber installed water heater but it kept cutting off. He walked with Rheem technician and found the new heater had a faulty valve. After a lengthy delay, Rheem sent the new valve and it was installed. We tried to have Rheem pay Amerigas (he worked for them) for the installation. After repeated delays because of missing paperwork (we sent multiple copies), Rheem indicated they would pay the gas company. They have not and now the gas company tells us we are late in our payment. We have never been late in our payments to anyone!Today Rheem told us they had sent us a letter (Right! We have received no such letter!) telling us they will only pay about 40% of the installation fee for that defective part. NEVER AGAIN!! Do not buy from Rheem. They send defective products then fail to cover the installation cost of replacement parts. Never again! Stay away from this company. Now we are left to worry about this water heater should anything go wrong with it in the future! What kind of company is this!! Oh, and their service department is a joke. Sadly the joke was on us. Stay away!!!!

We installed a Rheem tankless water heater system in February 2017 and starting about a year ago, it has consistently failed to produce hot water. It appears to be a computer/software problem, as our plumber is able to reboot it, but we have not been able to do so following the manual. The reboot may last a few weeks, or 24 hours, and there seems to be no discernible trigger. Our next step will be to remove the system and replace it with traditional water heaters.

Purchased a Rheem 40 gallon water heater back in September 2020. Water heater stopped working November 2021, one month out of the year labor warranty, go figure. I’ve been waiting days for the new part, with no straight answer. If you want dependable equipment go with A.O. Smith for your water heater, and Trane for your heating and cooling. I have been an installer for over 10 years. And nothing but problems with all Rheem equipment, and replacement parts.

We have had nothing but problems with our Rheem tankless hot water heater. Right now at this moment we are without hot water and have been so for almost 2 weeks now. Our unit is under warranty and needs to be replaced. Rheem did send us the vent kit, but no heater. We have called customer service. The first two ladies we spoke to were nice then we were transferred to another lady that was quite rude and absolutely no help at all. She told us that we need to contact the parts service department, our problem isnt HER problem. On the phone for hours with no results. Our plumber is at his wits end dealing with this company. We were told to go to Menards and purchase a new heater ourselves and Rheem would reimburse us for the cost. Yeah right! Rheem needs to send the unit, because I do not trust that they will reimburse us after all the trouble we have had getting anything out of them. We are still under warranty! We have company coming for Thanksgiving and no hot water! Im snapping and so sorry we ever went with Rheem. We are so disappointed in this company and the way they treat their customers. My advice to anyone considering a tankless, DO NOT BUY ONE FROM RHEEM!!!

There are lots of problems at the start. Finally, it was fixed after Rheem sent a man from the home office. it worked for four years then went to heck. The cost to me at this point is over $1800 from their techs out of Denver and plumbers in the Greeley area trying to fix them. Rheem sent one new unit out but not enough pipe to install, and then I was informed that I was going to have to tear out part of my finished home to install and they wanted me to install the 1st unit before they replaced the 2nd. What a mess, and thousands to install. Now the head tech at Rheem, Mr. Daniel **, has been dragging this out; hes not returning phones and doing nothing to help me. Hes not even giving me an answer to what they will do. I am so sick of this. So very much money to buy and install at the start and now there is no hot water and more and more costs, all because Rheem 1st tankless system and venting was not right, so you, the homeowner, must figure out how to get hot water in the home where there is no place/room to install, no electric or water or gas lines to change to some other type of heat. Just tear down a new home and pay thousands of dollars to get hot water.

Purchased GE ULTRA LOW NO x 6 Year Gas Water Heater, by Rheem Manufacturing
Purchased GE ULTRA LOW NO x 6 Year Gas Water Heater, by Rheem Manufacturing from Home Depot in Modesto, Ca. First problem was at 1 & 1/2 years after purchase. Upon inspection of PG&E I was told Thermocouple had to be replaced and most likely it was a faulty part and or product (Not knowing about the hundreds of complaints similar of mine). The part was replaced at my expense. One year later the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th problems occurred (3 times in 5 months). Upon inspecting a LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND in my hall area, we discover the pilot light is no longer lit on the GAS WATER HEATER. Initially there are problems in re-lighting it but fortunately it has re-lit.It then came to mind to begin searching for this products recall. Not as easy of a task and I continue my search for a recall, but in the process I have found this water heater is no longer sold by Home Depot; every review was bad with most stating the thermocouple having to be replaced within the first two years, and this product has been discontinued. The GE Appliance website states this model is no longer being manufactured. And it is no wonder. What I am curious about is what it takes for a product to be recalled because from what I have researched it is the opinion of hundreds that this water heater is junk, a hassle to deal with the continuous problems, very costly. I pray not, although I fear the explosive sound could be a danger or deadly. If I could I would most definitely purchase another water heater but I am currently disabled, living on a limited income that I cannot even make it on each month. Therefore I pray for our safety and that the water heater does not have any further problems. As I have written this complaint, I have to GE as well. And Ill continue to seek a recall for this product. MY ADVISE, DO NOT BUY A GE WATER HEATER MANUFACTURED BY RHEEM!

I purchased an electric 30 gallon hot water heater from home depot (Plymouth meeting,pa.) 06 Oct 2019. After plumbing the lines and filling the tank, the heater leaked from the bottom. I called Rheem and I had one of two options. Repair it myself and get reimbursed or wait 2 days for Rheem to send a part. Why should I work on a new unit I just purchased? Didnt like either option so I called home depot and they allowed me to return it for a refund. In my stupidity, I purchased another unit, same as the first one because the copper lines were already plumbed. Yes, you got it, the 2nd heater leaked, this time from the top. Everybody is so concerned with American made products, this company is located in Alabama. Called the warranty dept and this time they tell me to remove the pressure relief valve and wrap it with Teflon tape. How difficult would it be to test the product before selling it to the public? This is an honest recount of my past weekend. M. ** (Norristown, Pa). I would not recommend this product.

Hands down the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with in my lifetime. Not only do they have you holding on the phone for hours and when I mean hours I mean whole hours, they cant even assist or communicate reimbursement procedure effectively. After being told by one representative that he would be sending an email with how to submit for reimbursement within hours, I had to call back after a few days to advise I did not receive such email. Another rep advised the reason I didnt receive the email was that they did not have the necessary voucher to send...so why not say that from the first call or someone reach out me to advise instead of me waiting on an email that was never to arrive. As we speak Im literally on hold for what seems like another hour just to speak to a manager. P.s. This is all due to a defective part on a water heater that was installed less than year ago.

Bought a 40 gallon Rheem water heater and installed, couldnt get it to work. Called the gas company thinking it was a problem with our gas. Not the issue. Called Rheem and they sent a part (that wasnt the issue either). Called them again to exchange the water heater and they said no, that if it was giving a code it could be fixed. In the meantime we were having to go to family homes to take showers. They gave us a reset code to try to reset it. It worked for 4 hours then went out again. Tried to reset it again with code and the damn heater blew up 6 inches from my husbands face. Lucky he was not injured. Called customer service, very pissed and they told my husband they would disconnect the call if he didnt settle down, didnt even ask if he was OK.. Finally got sent to claims. After 10 days of having this thing we are getting q code to exchange... Not Happy!!!

Eco200pvn tankless water heater - Purchased 2011 still under warranty. Professionally installed. Large investment for efficiency. Flame sensor defective. Unit starts, flames come on then shuts off. Contacted Rheem customer service by email three times no response. Local contractors do not work on this model. Multiple complaints of same problem on line. Major safety problem as the only way to get hot water is to turn the water on and off at the unit so the initial flames warm the water. If the unit starts all members of the family rush to shower while we have hot water. Called customer service limited hours not responsive. Very poor unit! UNSAFE! No customer service. I filed a warranty claim with the company via their web form with all the required information. Rheem never responded one way or the other, on a water heater that failed after just two years on a 6 year warranty. During installation we discovered that half of the gas heating unit was missing. Rheem graciously sent us a new heating unit, though, as it turned out, even that was defective, but was able to repair with locally sourced parts. Between my father and I we have used Rheem water heaters in this house for over 60 years, but obviously, there must be new management, who neither cares about quality control or fairness in business practices. Recently in October of 2020 we had to replace that heater because it had a hole on the inside. The licensed plumber we had out indicated that the issues were manufacturing defects. The heaters have a warranty of 5 years but the parts and labor only 1 year. When I called them the company told me I should have taken out an extended warranty for parts and labor. Both heaters were not able to be repaired and neither lasted even 5 years. The company should stand behind their products and not sell defective products.

Dont buy the Rheem water heater for the warranty, it is worthless. It only covers parts, which leaves you at the hands of the thieving plumbers. The ignition and thermostat system is overly complicated and may fail. Mine lasted 5 years (12-year warranty). The plumber wanted $350 to repair the unit, the part (covered) is $112. My son who lives out of state does home repair and said it was a 15-minute job. I am trying to order the party under warranty but that is not going well. Brand new this tank at Home Depot is $850 installed so its smarter to get a new one. So buy the tank you think fits your need but dont get excited about the warranty, its not going to help much.

I bought a Rheem 50 gal. residential gas hot water heater. Installed it myself, because its not difficult. Lit the pilot and gave it ample time to heat. Got a shower that evening and the water temp. alternated from warm to cool and continued to cycle that way throughout the entire shower. Couldnt get any help from Home Depot. Most reps there dont know their ** from a hole in the ground. Looked online and found some broke-** plumbers asking for donations to solve problems. What I did is what most should do, but dont because they dont have the time or cash. This is precisely how a company like this survives. There is not enough coverage on what a piece of ** product these ** put out. Just another sell out company that has junk put together by those from the land of dirty **. Had a plumber buddy suggest Rinnai. So I drained the Rheem and took it back. Put a Rinnai in and lived happily ever after. Because Im from back east and dont mind speaking out. Every time Im in Home Depot, supply yard, hardware store, etc.. Ill check the plumbing supply aisle, and have thus far talked 3 people out of buying Rheem products. Feel like getting Rheemed Id say. That doesnt hurt their profit, but if people keep it up and bad mouth them every chance they get, especially us contractors, eventually they may build a better product or at least hire a few professionals to help. Either way, Im from the old school and its too late, will never buy anything this company puts out and have steered other contractors to this site, so they can see for themselves the amount of dissatisfaction. Read the reviews, then run as fast as you can to find another supplier. At 15 years old, my old water heater was running fine, but I decided it was time to replace it before it died. I contracted for a Rheem Power Vent unit (a requirement in my situation), which made it quite expensive at $1,300 with installation. It lasted 30 months, and died with what turns out to be a common problem with the valve. The installing contractor sent the repair over to a Rheem specified service organization, who was not very responsive. It took me a day to get a call back, and they totally blew off a 3PM to 7PM arrival window scheduled for the next day, and called 8AM the following day (3 days) acting dumb, and said can we come now? They found the failing valve, but only after I stopped him from leaving, when it started up (as it always does), and the repair guy says see, its working. Sure, just wait 5 minutes for it to start ignition failure recycling every 2 minutes. Finally he saw that, went and got the part, and fixed it. I just got the bill. 3 hours at $125 (should be one hour) and $356 for the Smart Valve. Sure its smart for Rheem and the repair guy. Me, Ive just spent over 1/2 the cost of a new unit, to fix one that is only 30 months old. Where is the warranty?

They finally agreed to replaces it. Since it was still under warranty. But first I had to pay a license plumber to speak/confirm it to them. They didnt even asks for his license #. Two weeks later Im back with no hot water. Due to new water heater having issue with gas chamber AGAIN. I had City Public Service come to check my gas lines/flow. They places a red tag on the heater and stated it was the CONTROL VALVE. Once again customer service said it could not be the control value. Due to it being new. They required a gas pressure count. Which is not cover under the warranty. Im just ready to give up and just go buy a new one AND IT WONT BE RHEEM!!!! But this is what they.

I needed to purchase a new natural gas water heater because my Rheem / Rudd brand started leaking. It was installed in 1992 so I figured I couldnt go wrong buying another Rheem. Bought it at the big box store, took it home and had it installed within an hour. I tried to start it up using the easy start system, but the pilot would not stay lit. They idiot proof these new water heaters so you cant actually access anything or complete any kind of small repair. All over the box, the tank, and instruction manual it says that I cant return the unit to the store. I have to call their 1800 number and get assistance. This is where things get interesting. I called the number and explained what was wrong. The support person walks me through the same stuff thats written in the instruction manual. He comes to the conclusion that the unit is defective and tells me a work order will be created and within one day someone will call me. Of course a day passes and no one calls me. So I call Rheem and they tell me that a local company has the work order. Called the local company and they tell me that they dont have the part to fix the tank and they can’t come out until Rheem sends ME the part. I call Rheem, and of course they tell me that they wont send me the part and that the local company has to first come out and diagnose the problem. At this point I am angry and explain to them that it is the middle of winter, I have two small kids and just want hot water. I ask if I can return the tank to the store and they tell that they wont authorize a return until the unit gets diagnosed. I call the local company back and they tell me that Rheem is giving me the run around and that the part is probably on back order so it could be weeks before I get the problem solved. He tells me I would be better off dealing with the big box store. I called the big box store and explained the situation and they agreed to take the unit back as defective. The big box store and the local company apologized. Rheem were jerks. I hope the company goes bankrupt and all of their support people lose their jobs and have to go without hot water.

The plumber called up Rheem and told them that everything was hooked up properly but it is not working correctly - that it needs to be replaced. They told them that there was a tiny leak in the water that they tighten and fixed instantly but it had nothing to do with the problem. Rheem told them that it is not covered now because there was a water leak. I cant even begin to tell you how small this leak was. It was nothing. Rheem was just looking for any excuse not to replace it. They are such a joke.I would never buy another Rheem - I would never recommend one. My plumber kept telling them that the water had nothing to do with why this is not working. But they didnt care. They told me to go buy another one. Horrible customer service. Horrible product. My contractor and I called Richmond 800 number, only to be told I can not replace the hot water heater, they have to send out someone to install a part they think might be wrong from pictures I sent them. Keep in mind this is winter and we now have to wait 1 week for it to be fixed. So, NO hot water for my family for 1 week.Nothing Rheem will do or could do to assist other than tell me that the people to repair are on their own time frame. The reps I spoke to on the phone were rude and not helpful at all. I am very disappointed, I feel stuck behind a rock because I dont want to pay for someone to fix it and risk not getting reimbursed. If I had to do this over, I would not purchase this type of water heater only due to the dissatisfaction of customer service.

Why is it that nothing lasts anymore. I put this Electric Tank in our home in July of 2019. Now December 2019 and it keeps tripping the Local cut out. I suspect that the Thermostat on the lower heater element is dead but, I am now at work and cant get back home to look at it. Of course it dies on a weekend. We are a family of 5 and honestly this is the last thing we need. The tank was working perfectly up until a few days ago. Now Ill have to contact Rheem and see if I can get any warranty out of them. I feel that the best thing I can do is call my local Home Depot where I bought the thing and see if I can get them to issue me a replacement!Uggh, I dont have time for this!!!! Do not buy this unit as it will not last you. This was supposed to be a 9 year tank!!!

Your company sucks and take advantage of their customers. You guys sold me a faulty unit. I followed your directions to a T. After months and months of back and forth emails I finally called today. Spoke to 4 people and the last person I spoke to was so rude and refused to let me speak to a manager. Im out $1500 for a water heater that last 3 months. This is complete ** and not sure how you guys still have a company. I will do everything in my power to make sure everyone knows my issues. And after looking into it Im not the only one with this issue. You guys should be ashamed to have such a ** company. And to take advantage of people in times like this. 100% the worst company I have ever dealt with. And to not be able to speak to a manager and I even let them know I have numerous emails since February 2021 regarding this issue. I have all my documents of all conversations. So this will be taken to the next step.

Rheem Marathon water heaters come with a lifetime warranty. A licensed plumber installed this water heater just under a year ago. The heater began making loud noises, like a metal object was hitting another piece of metal. I called the same plumber back to check on the noise. He examined the heater thoroughly and found nothing that would have caused this problem to arise. He asked me to call Rheem Customer Service to see if they could explain and offer a solution to the noise. (The noise has no relation to water use, time of day, or any other variable I could think of). My first call was answered by Lori, who asked for my serial number, then told me to adjust the flue baffle and that would eliminate the noise. She was in a hurry to get off the call. The electric Marathon has no baffle. My second call was answered by Valerie, who also took my serial number. I specifically told her the heater was electric. She then told me to take off the two covers on the front, determine which light was on when the noise occurred, then call her back with the information. I took off the covers to find that there are no lights. She was also interested in ending the call. My third call was answered by Nick, who apologized for the other two agents of Rheem, which he could see from the record of calls I had made previously. He suggested draining the tank to see if that would eliminate the noise. I asked the plumber about this and he stated that there would be no need to drain the tank given its age. So I am left with either calling Rheem yet again for what appears to be sketchy advise or learning to live with the noise.Rheems Customer Service seems to be time on the phone driven: when you get a trouble call, give some kind of answer and get off the phone as soon as possible. Not a good system to encourage customers to buy any Rheem product in the future. Their responses to my problem seem to treat the Lifetime Warranty as a mere piece of paper used as a sales aid only. Beware of Rheem products!

I had a Rheem Prestige heater installed in my house when it was being constructed, and desire what temperature I set it to. This heater cant even keep up on a mildly cool day. My thermostat is set at 65 and the room is about 54 and the unit isnt even trying to warm the house. Just junk, and I wish everyone could read about Rheem just to avoid trash like this and send this company where it belongs, into bankruptcy.

18 months ago I bought a Rheem water heater from Home Depot and had it installed by them. Friday night, May 25, the pilot light went out. We were unable to keep it relit. Called Rheem. (Has six year warranty.) Paid $1600 for the heater. They said it probably needed a Pilot Assembly Replacement kit. They would send one to my home from the parts dept. However, since it was the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend, the part couldnt be delivered until Tuesday!!! (Four days later). Their parts department wasnt open all of the three day holiday. So, on Tuesday morning, I called to track the part. They couldnt tell me anything, except it would be sent out that day, and arrive on Wednesday. Now five days without hot water. I asked to speak with a manager. Said nothing he could do would expedite the part. He was sorry. Very poor PR for Rheem. Additionally, Consumer Reports, that I belong to had no ratings for Water Heaters. Not a happy consumer today. Very upsetting.

I recently purchased a Rheem 40 gallon electric water heater from Home Depot. The day it was installed I waited about 8 hours before trying to use the hot water which was a lot longer than the 2-3 hours recommended by my contractor. Much to my dismay, there was still no hot water! After a second visit from my contractor it was determined the bottom heating element was defective. A call was placed to the 1-800 number on the water heater and here I sit waiting and wondering if a technician will come out to replace the part anytime soon. Very disappointing to have this happen on a brand new water heater.

I had a new 50 gal electric hot water tank install with a 2 year in home 12 year warranty. Unit heated water but only produced about 5 minutes of water. I called Rheem and rep. said a company would contact me for repair. A week later no one had called so I called Rheem rep. Said he had no notes about this and said I would have to hire contractor. I ask to talk to supervisor and was just parked on hold. I hired plumber and repair person tested all parts and said electronic brain was bad. No parts were available from any supply house and Rheem was not answering phone. I talked Home Depot into an exchange and I got new electronic brain. I still have same problem and have been on hold for 30 min. now. They say I have $125 limit for in home repairs and I have two trips for repair now. New brain being sent. 6 hours of time dealing with this. Over 2 hours on hold and a hour just calling with no answer. New unit still not working correct for a month. I own many rental homes and this is poor service...

From reading the other reviews this seems the consensus with hot water heater by Rheem. I wish I would have read these before my purchase. I purchased and installed the hot water heater on a Friday in January 2021. Followed the instructions and waited the amount of time for the water to heat. It game hot water for about 5 minutes and then continued to blink and indicate re-heating. Called the company that it states on the side of the water heater and the person I talked to was less than accommodating. I have contacted a plumber to come and look at the water heater that is failing to heat. Do not buy this product. With every purchase there is a possible issue that consumers must deal with BUT customer service should follow.

Two months after installing a water heater we got awful sulfur taste and smell. We tried the recommended treatment using hydrogen peroxide to kill the bacteria. This worked for 3 months and then it came back, so we treated the condition again with peroxide. This worked for another 6 months. By now Covid virus was in effect and we could not buy the peroxide anywhere. We noticed water on the floor and I also noticed the electrical breaker had popped. Taking the top cover off, I found the insulation covering the top element and thermostat burned and the wires black and corroded. I spoke to Rheem 3 times, each time a different person, but got nowhere. All they offered was a new element even though the whole insulation within the unit was totally wet. Based on the corroded condition of the wires, the thermostat and the element, we refused their miserly offer. We finally contacted Home Depot and spoke to someone knowledgeable, Les, the plumbing manager, and he agreed to call Rheem. After getting nowhere with this company, he spoke to his manager and suggested replacing the heater at their cost which they did. We hope this one is better but we dont expect to have the same life as our previous heater that lasted 28 years.

Installed a water heater that worked for two days. Called customer support. Spent 20 minutes waiting, only to be redirected to a technician with a 40 minute wait. I got a teenaged millennial who had never installed a water heater and clearly wanted me off the queue. I got exactly one question, whats the voltage across the incoming electrical leads. Despite both leads providing 120VAC, I was told it was an electrical problem, determined by ONE test, and dismissed. No other diagnostics were performed and no interest in what, where are when anything happened. Describing the problem and steps taken was of no interest to the teenager on the other end. Clearly designed to avoid actual customer service. So if you want to talk to a know-it-all teenager on a phone in a cube, call Rheem customer support. We had this water heater installed thinking we had gotten the best on the market. However, upon installation, it would not turn on. Found it was a crimped wire when we installed a replacement part they sent us.We have had not real hot water since the installation. Apparently the model XE50T12EC55UO re-positions itself to OFF every time there is power disruption. We live in an area that the energy company has the ability to shut off your hot water tank to save energy as well as have power failures. This means we HAVE to reset our water tank every time or we have no hot water. When we spoke to customer service, we were told that is how the tank works and we should have done our homework before buying the tank - No one expect that from a hot water tank!

I purchased a 50 gallon water heater a week ago. From the day it was installed it leaked. I have had someone from the installer, Rheem or Home Depot at my house every day. They replaced a heating element and it still leaked. Now they are trying to blame me that it was not leaking, as there was no water in the pan when the repair guy left. Really... It leaks every time about an hour after they leave. Now, they tell me it might be the pressure valve and I have to pay for the visit and fix. Funny, old heater worked fine with no leaks, just old and lots of crud in the bottom. In the last discussion, the Rheem agent told me that it might be an expansion thing that happens naturally and leaks into the pan. Now, I am beside myself and not dumb, you should never have water in the pan. Rheem/Home Depot, stand up and take responsibility for the products you sell. I pay $1400 for nothing but headaches and stress hoping the thing doesnt explode and flood my home.

I have been trying to deal with this problem for four days now. I called Rheem company several times today and was given divergent information. They gave me the number of installers, which then asked me to get a work order. I called Rheem they said they sent the order but it got refused. I called installer back again and conference called Rheem which then said that I would have to call the distributor instead. I was finally able to locate the distributor, who said they would be able to replace the water heater for a $150 service (provided I transport the old/new tanks). But they requested a voucher or authorization in order to provide me with a water heater replacement. I called Rheem 800 number yet again and the person transferred me to the warranty department which is now closed for business. Im going to be yet without hot water for another weekend. This is horrible customer service, giving me the running around!!! The water heater is less than a year old!

Bought a new Rheem 40 gallon hot water heater and was installed in new home in August 2015. Worked for three months, then had issues with NO hot water. Getting error code. Contacted company and after several attempts and disconnects finally got someone. Was told that the venting was improper and to contact plumber to have them look at it and then send the bill for reimbursement. We did as we were told, changed venting per their specifications and still does not work correctly. Plumbing company contacted Rheem and they sent new blower assembly. This was replaced and did NOT fix the problem. Again contacted Rheem spent over 2 hours trying to get someone. Finally got someone in another department who transferred to supervisor. They have supposedly contacted Menards to reimburse us for the bad water heater, but now are refusing to reimburse us for the bill that was incurred by having a plumber come out. They are stating we did not provide the correct documentation showing a defect. Bill was sent that we received from plumbing company stating their fees.We cannot understand why no one is looking into this company regarding all these issues that this company is having with their bad product and NOT honoring their warranty. This company is causing frustrations on customers that should not be happening and not honoring anything in their warranty booklet. Nor are the phone numbers that they are listing on this warranty numbers that consumers are able to get through. When talking to the supervisor I brought this issue up and even asked him if he has ever tried calling the number listed. He said frankly no. I asked him to please do this as well as forward this on to individuals that are higher up so that they are aware of this issue. I would seriously hope that this company look into their issues with their products and take note of what consumers are dealing with.

Bought a hot water tank Feb 2018. 5 days later it went out! Water leaks no hot water! Called customer service and they said, Maybe get you someone tomorrow? I cant afford to pay again to have their faulty water tank replaced? And why should I? It was ONLY 4-5 days old? Yet customer service said maybe tomorrow??? So I called again the c/s department to check if someone would be coming Wed Feb. 14th. The man Mike was very rude. I asked if he could see if someone would be coming to repair my water heater? He asked for model # on heater which I didnt have. I was calling from work on my lunch break. Then was told maybe he could get it under my name? Ok good idea.He found a Mr. Build repair person listed and should call me tomorrow. I ask Mike, Will I get this issue fixed by tomorrow? The tech. makes the decision? O.k? Yet will it be fixed tomorrow? Mike said, I DONT KNOW! Either he orders parts or if 2 people are need to replace the tank he would have to get someone? I was in shock not just by the tone of this mans voice of being irritated yet that a company LIKE Rheem cant take care of the issue in a timely and professional manner. We should go without hot water for 3 days or more on a hot water tank bought through HOME DEPOT 4-5 days earlier? Still under warranty (90 days). And inconvenience us for product failure? And pay another $300.00 plus to have it installed???Then I tried to return technician call. Left at 3:45 pm to my home? I call the technician... Not only that night after getting home from work at 7 pm leaving a message I also called the technician at 8 am Wed morning and at 9:30 am both leaving messages no real person guarantying they would return a call. And still here at 10:15 am. NO return call to confirm. They would be here between 4 pm and 7 pm. NOW still wondering will we have HOT water tonight??? Happy Valentines DAY right.

Purchased a Rheems Platinum hot water heater. A little after a year a leak
Purchased a Rheems Platinum hot water heater. A little after a year a leak developed and burnt out the control board. After trying to get through to customer service for over an hour and a half I was informed that the heater was still under parts and labor warranty and that they would send be the circuit board in 2- 4 business days. I asked if they could expedite it. Again I was put on hold until the shipping department picked up. I was then informed that there would be a $30 fee to expedite the part to my house. Does not seem fair that I would need to pay for a part that is defective and a direct result of Rheems poor manufacturing. I have a family of 5 without hot water and who knows when the part will arrive and when they can schedule a repair person to install the parts. I pleaded, with no avail, with them to just replace the hot water heater since there was no positive indication of where the leak is occurring. Looks like cold family showers for a while! Totally unfair and lengthy resolution.

I purchased a 30-gallon Rheem water heater on Black Friday 2014. And it worked fine for about 45 days. Then I had to light the pilot light for the first time. Thereafter, the pilot light had to be lit, but then would only stay on less than an hour. Then I lit again. The next day it was out. So I called tech support and they ask for pictures of install. I send. By this time, I call my plumber who installed unit. He could not get it going. So I call tech support again, they say thermal couple is bad and they send one. Their plumber comes out to install and the darn heater still wont light. So he call company and tells them its the igniter switch wire is bad, they send that out. Their plumber comes back, installs switch, gets the heater going. Within an hour, its back out. So I call tech support yet again, the guy says its the control now, so hell send that. Now it wont light, so hot water. This has been a nightmare. I will not buy another unit from this company, this has been hell. Stay away, you wont regret it.

We purchased A Rheem Water Heater, model #6G40-36F3 at Menards. My husband installed it and as he tried to light it the ignitor would not work 90% of the tries. Called the phone number for Rheem in a big sticker on the side of the heater. It says not to return to the store to call them for assistance. It said they were not available even though according to the sticker on it they are available 7 days a week. We looked up some other numbers and tried to contact them but no one available. Finally my husband got someone on a number that we found after a couple of hours of frustration. She agreed that the ignitor was bad and was sending us a new one. It would take 3-4 business days and this was on Saturday. The ignitor arrived on Wednesday and was an easy install. This episode was more time consuming and frustrating than necessary. If you have a big red sticker on the side of the water heater saying not to return to the store but call Rheem then you should make sure that phone number is actually answered by someone. When I brought this frustrating experience to Rheems attention they requested that I call them. When I called I was placed in a queue that said it would be about 20 minutes. I emailed them and said I was not willing to sit waiting approximately 20 minutes for them to take my call and told them to call me which was almost a month ago. Very poor customer service. Purchased a brand new Rheem hot water heater from Home Depot in 2018 and right out of the box it was DOA. It says right on the side of the heater to not return it to the place of purchase but rather to call Rheem customer service (which is the worst customer service). Three days later (without hot water) I received a replacement controller. $225 later a plumber installed it and it still would not work. Two more calls to Rheem (they called themselves Rheem because they ream you) and they ship a replacement pilot light kit. $180 for a plumber to install and after many attempts it lights and heats. Works great for a couple months and then the pilot light goes out. Many attempts later and another $120 visit by a plumber they fix it and it now works for close to a year before the pilot light goes out again. Call the plumber and $120 he resolves the issue after three more days of waiting for the part. Works this time for a year and now two and a half years after purchase it dies again. Three days without hot water and multiple calls to Rheem (ream) and they are shipping a replacement part (oh by the way if you want expedited shipping that costs $30 but it still takes two days). I finally got done. It is not worth the hassle of dealing with this company and their garbage product so I am replacing this piece of crap with an AO Smith. The sad thing is that two plumbing companies told me not to purchase Rheem and I did because they had the better warranty. Well the warranty is useless if your only option is two wait for three days for the part and then you still have to pay the plumber to install it. Note to self. After receiving the tank, and getting it installed, the “Vacuum Relief Valve” malfunctioned, saturating my drywall (which I had to replace). Called Rheem and was initially told it would be 5 to 7 days for replacement parts. Having explained my situation, they overnighted the parts. 30 minutes after receiving the NEW PARTS I installed the new Vacuum Relief Valve, and wouldn’t you know it, it Malfunctioned once again all over my drywall. I called Rheem and was informed that I would have to pay out of pocket for an authorized rheem service technician to come out and fix the NEW water heater. So, I remove the hot water tank and returned it back to Home Depot. The Rheem 40 gallon gas water heater never worked properly, temperature could not be adjusted and stayed at 120 degrees, even in low or vacation mode. Customer service had 45 hold time, but finally sent out a local plumber, who believed it was a faulty temperature controller. I again had difficulty getting to Rheem customer service, but they ordered a new temperature controller which was installed by a local plumber. After running hot water for a considerable time with controller in vacation mode the temperature dropped but stayed above the 91 degree stated in owners manual. The next morning I ran hot water on a home thermometer and the temperature shot up to 120 degree, the maximum the thermometer could read. Now I must call to get a third plumber out to correct situation. The owner manual does not say it is a Rheem water heater and it appear to be the same water heater at Home Depot and Lowes. Also the owner manual shows the temperature controller to be a brand name Honeywell but the controller provided appears to be the same, only the Honeywell name is missing. Bottom line; I will not buy another Rheem water heater.

I just acquired a new hot water heater and wanted to learn more about preve
I just acquired a new hot water heater and wanted to learn more about preventative maintenance needed to prolong its useful life. One agent was helping me with ensuring warranty dates are accurate as their records show warranty start date as date of manufacture. Date of install is 5 months later.. They have a website for registration but that did not help update their warranty records. He told me to use their website again. I told him I already did that and nothing changed. Then, he said all I had to do reply to his email with copies of invoices and extended warranty info and all will be taken care of. A day later, nothing. So I called back and somebody else says she will look into it, update records and EMAILl me a screenshot to show it is done. No email received but warranty record was updated to correct start at date of install but did not include extended warranty date of additional 4 years. So now I have to call them back regarding this. Why is it so hard?In addition, I wanted to buy extra anode rods (secondary, connected to HOT WATER Side) so that I have them readily available 5 years or so from now. That seems to be a VERY complicated process. Always requires Serial number which is totally irrelevant. All manufacturers anode rods are universal. Difference is length of rod, length of nipple (for those that are installed in the HOT WATER side of the tank) and material composition. After half a dozen emails back and forth, still no info as to how I can get the anode rod needed. I even gave them part numbers and they told me to contact another department as the department I contacted do not handle customer service inquiries, just website related. HUH???Another customer service rep emailed me instruction on how to maintain as well as user manual. I thanked him for it, asked him more questions, and.... NO RESPONSE since then.. A couple of follow up emails and still no. WHY? Frankly, I worry about the service I will be getting from this company when something really wrong happens.. I may have made a mistake buying their stuff. Their A/C unit is outstanding. Water heater is another story as I had problems with inaccurate thermostat BUT, to their credit a new thermostat was immediately sent and that fixed my problem. I worry what else will go wrong and the runaround I will get. Caveat Emptor !!!

We bought ten of the direct vent models for our 10 apartments and they turned out to be the worst nightmare we got into. Everyone has failed either with hard lockout or leaking at the drain valve. Their technical support is always looking to deflect the fault to installation, venting or something else. Their use a plastic pipe for drain valve which cracks and leaks. We was on the phone every other day to asked for support. Some of the techs came to their sense and request brass drain valves, many of them just insisted on sending the same plastic valve again. They never tested these drain valves. Everyone has a hairline crack which leaks out water making a mess. Every time this happens, it takes them a couple of days to send replacement. After I gave a scathing review on their website, they quit talking to me. I now pledge to make sure consumers do not buy these direct vent heaters again from Rheem. Please avoid at all costs!

I bought a Rheem Water Heater from Home Depot and had it installed on 2/9/17. Once it was done, I found leak. After talking to Rheems customer technical support rep, she admitted its a leak from the tank and asked me to return it to Home Depot to get a replacement. I had to spend more time and labor cost to uninstall the 1st one and then reinstall the 2nd one. After that, I have asked for a compensation.Rheems customer service team in April asked me to send proof of payment for services such as a copy of your cancelled check FRONT/BACK or a credit card statement. If paid by cash, please be sure to provide the phone number for technician/company so we can confirm payment with them, which I did through both regular mail and email. But so far I have not heard from them anything. When I called Rheems customer service #, they said they wont handle it. I have to contact their billing department. But they wont provide the contact phone #. I had to BBB to help me, but no result. Cant believe how bad their service is. So next time when you buy a water heater, be very careful!

We have a new Rheem water heater that failed after 3 days after it was installed. We are now almost a month taking cold showers. The plumber is trying his best but Rheem is very slow to respond. They dont care and the important thing to remember is They dont care! Water heaters are one of the last frontiers of scandalous behavior towards consumers. They are all bad.

What happened to the Rheem quality that I grew up with. This unit is only 3 years old and began leaking at the base below the lower T-Stat. It caused severe water damage to the interior of my unit. My plumber shared that the quality control on the assembly line is poorly managed. Examples of units that have failed revealed only partial interior glass lining which instantly began rusting and a thinner gauge of metal used to build the tanks.

We bought a Rheem 50-gallon water heater in January. In August, the unit failed on a Sunday. Since the tag said so not return to place of purchase, I waited until Monday to call Rheem. Rheem said disconnect, drain, and return to store. They said we would be responsible for any difference in cost from initial purchase to replacement purchase. We had to pay $150 difference in price to get new water heater under warranty rules and $150 for plumber to install. That is not a warranty. A 6-year water heater should not break in middle after 6-months.

All I wanted to know is to how often the recirculation pump needs to be programmed on my Rheem Platinum Tankless water heater. I tried the learn option and it didnt work good at all. Every time I have called I get to talk to someone, give all my info, just to be transferred to level 3 or another dept just to be on hold 30-40 min. Finally, when I do get to talk to someone, the different guys Ive talked to were very rude, disrespectful, and honestly didnt seem to care if I got an answer or not. Never will buy a Rheem product again. Tech support terrible.

Our family purchased a Rheem water heater in September of 2018. November 30, 2019 it quit working!! We had a plumber out, not knowing what was wrong. After 4 hours of working on it/talking on the phone with Rheem representatives, it was determined that the thermocouple/starter unit would need to be replaced. We were told our part would be shipped out that night! Today, December 4 we received an email that the part was JUST SHIPPED today!! We won’t have water for 2 more days. Pretty tough for a family of 6!!!Rheem replacement parts are not carried by plumbing companies. We also had 4 companies refuse to work on the Rheem water heater, saying they avoid the products! Poorly made product and even worse customer service! We will NEVER purchase another product from this company and we intend to share with all of our friends as well!!

We bought the 30 gallon water heater March 3, 2021 and was installed the next day. The tank started large amounts of water from all over the tank. We had to turn off the water supply since we could not get it to stop leaking. I thought Rheem was a good brand but I am finding out that it is not. To top it off I have tried calling their help phone line 6 times and each time I just get disconnected the last 2 times I called. The first time I called 800-621-5622 the calls never picked up, never went through or the recording said there would be a 1 hour and a half wait. Not very good customer service! We need help and a new water heater. It should last longer than 9 months. Someone needs to call me at ** and ask for John B.

Model # 22VR40FN - Water heater needed repair after just a few years of service. Had to pay $235.00 for a tech to repair. Rheem makes you jump through hoops just to try to get a $45.00 parts reimbursement covered by their warranty. Almost 40 minutes on phone, repair invoice from plumber marked paid with our check number on it sent previously but I guess, not enough (insulting), image of both sides of our cancelled check needed as additional proof of repair. So that means more time wasted - special trip to bank to get cancelled check copy. Will never buy a Rheem product again. Never a problem other than age with the other water heaters Ive owned in my lifetime. Generally speaking, theyve all lasted 12-15 years without repair or failure.

Yesterday around 5:30 pm I heard a loud popping sound and looked up. Saw sparks coming from the lower level of my home. Upon further investigation, I started to see and smell smoke. Once I figured out where the smoke was coming, I quickly discovered the source of the smoke, which was from my Rheem hot water heater that had caught on fire.

I bought a Rheem water heater, Model ELD80B, 14 months ago and was told it had a 4-year warranty. The heating element leaked and failed. I was told it would take 2 to 3 days to get a part. We are in the restaurant business and would have to close. I found the part at an appliance part house for $44 and hired a company to pick it up and bring to my store for $112, then called the company that sold and installed the heater (United Plumbing - Woodland Hills, CA) and they sent out a tech and it took about 30 minutes and I was charged an additional $475. I called Rheem and was told to read the fine print. They would only cover the whole unit if it had to be replaced and if it could be repaired like my unit did, it would not be covered.
