Rheem Water Heater Warranty

Rheem offers several different types of water heaters, each with its own warranty. Here's a brief overview of Rheem's water heater warranties:

Tank-Type Water Heaters: Rheem's tank-type water heaters come with a warranty that ranges from 6 to 12 years, depending on the model. The warranty covers both the tank and parts.

Tankless Water Heaters: Rheem's tankless water heaters come with a warranty that ranges from 5 to 12 years, depending on the model. The warranty covers the heat exchanger and parts.

Hybrid Water Heaters: Rheem's hybrid water heaters come with a warranty that ranges from 6 to 10 years, depending on the model. The warranty covers both the tank and parts.

It's important to note that the warranty terms and conditions may vary depending on the specific model and installation location. Additionally, the warranty may be voided if the water heater is not installed or maintained properly. To ensure that you are eligible for warranty coverage, it's best to have your Rheem water heater installed by a licensed professional and to follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule.

We bought a Rheem water heater from Home Depot, it kept leaking. I called Home Depot. They told us to replace the valve, so we did, still leaking. Called to see what we should do. Told us to buy an expansion tank. If that didnt do it to return it. Returned it for a new one and guess what. It leaked too!!! I have never been so frustrated with a product. Even the guy that installed it for us mad. I hope they will let us return this one.

First of all, because this is a new tank, the parts are not available in stores or from suppliers. And of course it always works out that things quit on a Thursday or Friday. That said after a misdiagnosis they sent me a part that worked for one day then quit but being the person I am, I dug farther and found that what they said was broken and the part that was broken were two different things. They sent me the assembly for the igniter, the problem was a cheap weld job on the circuit board. A piece fell off and I resoldered it which fixed the problem but created another. They wont send me a new part under warranty as I modified it in their words. I never heard such a crack but anything to not have to warranty something. Moral of the story is buy a reputable brand with parts that can be purchased off the shelf. When youre out a thousand bucks and have no hot water, youll remember this if you buy what I bought. Model XG50S09EC40B0 by Rheem and I bought mine from Home Depot. They had no parts and offered no solutions.

I had a professional install a new water heater. The old one had finally quit working. He installed a Rheem. When he turned the water on and it had time to heat water the first time the pressure valve wouldnt stop leaking. So I called Rheem and after a fight they agreed to send a new pressure valve to me that I installed. That stopped the leaking for a couple years. Still under warranty 4 years later it starts to leak again... I call them back and they wont send another pressure valve out but tell me I have to install a thermal tank? I have the lowest pressure of all my neighbors and none of them have a thermal tank why should I, now, need one? They say if I install a thermal tank and it doesnt fix the problem that it is probably the water tank. What a piss poor company... Never again will I buy or allow a Rheem on my place!!!

Once my tenant started complaining that there was no hot water, I checked the water heater and the pilot was blown out. I re-lit the pilot and thought it would be good. Several hours later the pilot blew out again. This process happened all weekend. On Sunday night I stayed on hold with Rheem support team for 1 hour and 50 minutes. After explaining what was happening, They reassured me that they would have someone come out and call me tomorrow. That never happened! I have had a lot of back and forth with this company all ending with broken promises. Having me find a plumber and paying for everything. I have left messages and sent emails and feel that this company should be doing right by their paying customers. I will be taking this to the attorney general.

6 years ago, I purchased a RHEEM water heater from Home Depot which lasted only 3 years with only two in the household. June 18, 2015, I purchased an American Standard from a private retailer after researching the best water heater to purchase which also lasted only 3 years. It was a terrible, stressful ordeal with both companies. Rheem and American Standard each sent parts for their 6 year warranty stretching two weeks until Im stressed to the point of purchasing a new one because none of the parts solved the problem. Apparently this is what these companies count on... the customer getting fed up to the point we choose to buy another water heater for $800 every 3 years in exchange for a hot shower!!! I am a single parent working part time for LAUSD on summer break with $766 to my name. There goes our summer savings... again. Time to try another company. Im convinced all are the same... they may last 3 years with if youre lucky. Its like pulling teeth to get them to honor the warranty, and you will not get a replacement without spending a ton of money for a licensed professional in the process, which is why Im buying another brand. The water heater I had when I moved here lasted approximately 12 years with no problems. Old school. They dont make them like they used to. See you all in 3 years.

That part installed and still not working. Now Rheem sending another replacement part. Rheem will NOT replace this brand new unit as long as they can keep sending replacement parts!! This is not acceptable but they do not care how long we have been without hot water!

The problem I experienced is a serious safety issue and I hope as many people read this and spread the word as possible. My Rheem 40 gallon hot water tank started to leak gas at the Honeywell valve internally. The tank is installed in a small closet which is a confined area in which combustible natural gas can accumulate. When I contacted customer service they tried every way they could to get out of sending a replacement part. Because of my experience and the seriousness of the issue I decided to do a little bit of research and discovered that I am NOT the only individual who has had this problem.I used to install hot water tanks when I was younger with a plumber friend of mine and I can tell you that I have never heard of this issue before. It just did not happen on the older non digital gas valves. I have since found out that these Honeywell gas valves are notorious for breaking down and they are used by many different hot water tank manufacturers. The leakage issue is a serious problem in a confined space natural gas can easily blow up and cause a fire. To make matters worse if you live in the country and use propane which is heavier than air the combustible gas will build up around the combustion chamber making an explosion very likely. These malfunctioning Honeywell valves are all over the internet and YouTube and have been a well known problem by the manufacturers for several years yet nothing seems to be done about them! I would advise people to avoid any tank with these potentially dangerous malfunctioning valves period. I would also advise people to avoid Rheem products in general based on my customer service experience. They should have been happy to replace the valve considering the dangerousness of the situation instead of asking so many questions and trying to get out of it. They dont have the customers best interests in mind based on my experience.A lot of the issues with this companys hot water tanks are with the Honeywell gas valve and malfunctions of said valve. Neither company seems to be interested in fixing this problem. I would stay away from these hot water tanks and these valves in particular if I were you! You just shouldnt have to deal with these kind of problems.

We confidentially purchased a Rheem. Got water heater a few years ago. Well it failed. I called Rheem to enact the warranty and customer service told me they were sending an email with directions to take photos. After taking said photos I was to call them back 15 minutes after sending the email. After much confusion, I did (I had no idea what a heat exchanger was.. Thank goodness for it Youtube). On the return call I was informed that it was under full warranty and to remove the unit and return it to the original place of purchase. If the new unit costs more I am responsible for the difference but ... I would get a brand new warranty. If it was the same price the old warranty would still be in effect. So I hang up and call the plumbing supply store where we purchased the unit. I was told that Not only do I have to pay the entire cost of the unit up front (I will be allegedly be reimbursed for the original purchase price after Rheem reimburses them) but I have to pay a “service fee” of $125! I also have to pay a plumber to come and uninstall the defective unit then pay again to have him install the new unit! How is this a full warranty? Never again. It’s costing me a fortune to replace a defective unit! These expenses should be on Rheem not me.

I bought a Rheem gas water heater and about 2 months later, it makes a loud popping noise and goes out. I call the company and they are rude with me. I have been on the phone back and forth with these people for 2 months and I still do not have hot water. The part they sent did not fix it. My plumber says its not fixable and needs to be returned, but apparently the company is going to go bankrupt if they let me return the water heater and will not give me a return code. I dont know how many things Im expected to do before they finally decide to give me the code. Im beyond frustrated. Im a single mom with cancer and its difficult for me to take my kids and I to someone elses house everyday to shower. If I had the money, I would trash the thing and buy another one (different brand) just so I wouldnt have to deal with this company anymore. I will definitely not be buying another water heater from Rheem ever and I will make sure everyone I know is aware of their lack of friendly customer service and a heart. No one should have to go this long without hot water.

I replaced a 10-year-old Maytag hot water heater with a Richmond branded tankless hot water heater in 2012. It started to leak after just 7 months and Rheem would not honor my warranty so I had to go through the retailer. After 2.5 years Ive gone through five tankless hot water heaters because the heat exchanger keep leaking after just 7 to 8 months of use at the most. Rheem continually reams me and refuses to pay any warranty claim. Do not trust any warranty that Rheem advertises.

I just acquired a new hot water heater and wanted to learn more about preventative maintenance needed to prolong its useful life. One agent was helping me with ensuring warranty dates are accurate as their records show warranty start date as date of manufacture. Date of install is 5 months later.. They have a website for registration but that did not help update their warranty records. He told me to use their website again. I told him I already did that and nothing changed. Then, he said all I had to do reply to his email with copies of invoices and extended warranty info and all will be taken care of. A day later, nothing. So I called back and somebody else says she will look into it, update records and EMAILl me a screenshot to show it is done. No email received but warranty record was updated to correct start at date of install but did not include extended warranty date of additional 4 years. So now I have to call them back regarding this. Why is it so hard?In addition, I wanted to buy extra anode rods (secondary, connected to HOT WATER Side) so that I have them readily available 5 years or so from now. That seems to be a VERY complicated process. Always requires Serial number which is totally irrelevant. All manufacturers anode rods are universal. Difference is length of rod, length of nipple (for those that are installed in the HOT WATER side of the tank) and material composition. After half a dozen emails back and forth, still no info as to how I can get the anode rod needed. I even gave them part numbers and they told me to contact another department as the department I contacted do not handle customer service inquiries, just website related. HUH???Another customer service rep emailed me instruction on how to maintain as well as user manual. I thanked him for it, asked him more questions, and.... NO RESPONSE since then.. A couple of follow up emails and still no. WHY? Frankly, I worry about the service I will be getting from this company when something really wrong happens.. I may have made a mistake buying their stuff. Their A/C unit is outstanding. Water heater is another story as I had problems with inaccurate thermostat BUT, to their credit a new thermostat was immediately sent and that fixed my problem. I worry what else will go wrong and the runaround I will get. Caveat Emptor !!!

Bought a new Rheem 50 gallon gas water heater from Home Depot. Plumber installed water heater but it kept cutting off. He walked with Rheem technician and found the new heater had a faulty valve. After a lengthy delay, Rheem sent the new valve and it was installed. We tried to have Rheem pay Amerigas (he worked for them) for the installation. After repeated delays because of missing paperwork (we sent multiple copies), Rheem indicated they would pay the gas company. They have not and now the gas company tells us we are late in our payment. We have never been late in our payments to anyone!Today Rheem told us they had sent us a letter (Right! We have received no such letter!) telling us they will only pay about 40% of the installation fee for that defective part. NEVER AGAIN!! Do not buy from Rheem. They send defective products then fail to cover the installation cost of replacement parts. Never again! Stay away from this company. Now we are left to worry about this water heater should anything go wrong with it in the future! What kind of company is this!! Oh, and their service department is a joke. Sadly the joke was on us. Installed a water heater that worked for two days. Called customer support. Spent 20 minutes waiting, only to be redirected to a technician with a 40 minute wait. I got a teenaged millennial who had never installed a water heater and clearly wanted me off the queue. I got exactly one question, whats the voltage across the incoming electrical leads. Despite both leads providing 120VAC, I was told it was an electrical problem, determined by ONE test, and dismissed. No other diagnostics were performed and no interest in what, where are when anything happened. Describing the problem and steps taken was of no interest to the teenager on the other end. Clearly designed to avoid actual customer service. So if you want to talk to a know-it-all teenager on a phone in a cube, call Rheem customer support. If ya want to fix your WH, try YouTube and Amazon.

Rheem water heaters are very poor quality and you will end up with failures way the life of the heater. It is made in Mexico and the parts break continually. I bought my gas water heater 12-30-2011 and in May of 2014 it failed. They recommended a repairman and he charged more than a new heater to fix it. The parts broke again a month later, same repairman came and changed multiple parts again (lucky no charge this time). Less than a month later, the parts failed again. Repairman came out and refused to replace the parts, said it wasnt up to code and theyd fail again. Wanted $2300 to put in a new one, yea right. Contacted GE whose label and they air freighted in new parts. Got a new plumber GE recommended and the guy put them in and couldnt get it to work, put in another one on the spot and still couldnt get it to work. Contacted them and got nowhere. DO NOT BUY ANY RHEEM PRODUCT OR GE. You will get ripped off and be writing in like I am. They are made in Mexico and the quality has suffered. All the repair people know about it. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

The Rheem tankless water heater is nothing but trouble. We have had constant failure of the unit since it was purchased. I have been on the phone with customer service several times trying to self diagnose the problem along with one of their representatives. The same error code keeps coming up time after time and I cant seem to find any plumber who will work on this unit, apparently because it is such a defective POS that no one wants to touch it. We have even had our gas meter upgraded for a larger one, but the tankless continues to fail. I am hoping to participate in a class action lawsuit against Rheem. The unit is clearly defective and they have offered no solution. In the meantime our family continues to be without hot water several day a week, as paying to have the entire water heater replaced is out of our budget at the time. Considering we spent around $2,500 for it(including installation) 2 years ago, it is quite a disappointment that the company will not even recommend someone for repairs.

We have decided to replace our hot water tanks before it fails. My wife figured it was about 13-14 years old. I was shopping around for a tank and it finally clicked, why don't I see what brand we have now, as 13 years is pretty darn good. The installer had the date of installation Dec 24/2001... WOW. It’s a Rheem Professional 410 professional grade. So that's what I will be looking for now. A instructor at my work in the plumbing department suggested I get a basic model (6 year warranty), but make sure I drain the tank once a year and wait until the water runs clear to get all the sediment out and prevent corrosion. Don't forget to turn off the breaker first. I'm definitely getting another Rheem. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Much to my dismay, I found out that the warranty is only a parts warranty! Now I have to wait a few days to receive the parts in the mail and figure out how to install them myself... Dont buy the Rheem water heater for the warranty, it is worthless. It only covers parts, which leaves you at the hands of the thieving plumbers. The ignition and thermostat system is overly complicated and may fail. Mine lasted 5 years (12-year warranty). The plumber wanted $350 to repair the unit, the part (covered) is $112. My son who lives out of state does home repair and said it was a 15-minute job. I am trying to order the party under warranty but that is not going well. Purchased a 50 gallon water heater in 2011 with a nine-year Rheem guarantee. Awakened yesterday to a leak in the unit. Since I was 5 years into the warranty period, I did not expect much but called the customer service anyway. A polite technical representative explained that the element gasket had failed after I described the leak. Called my plumber who came immediately and determined that the unit failed. He replaced both elements. Still leaked. Called customer service again and they suggested something I did not understand related to the power supply. The plumber took the phone. Within minutes he whispered to me the technicians at Rheem were not knowledgeable. He asked one of the three he spoke to how many heaters she had installed. She told him she had observed an installation once. He spent 1.5 hours trying to get them to honor the warranty in any way.I went to Lowes and purchased a new heater which my plumber installed without charge. The final Rheem representative told me I had invalidated the warranty with the new installation. She stated we could have gone through additional technical assessment via phone had I not replaced the unit. I asked for one example and she stated Testing the junction box. I responded that she was talking nonsense and asked what other technical assessments we could have done. She repeated that it did not matter because I had replaced the unit and invalidated the warranty. Please read the other stories presented here. The pattern is the same. Rheem had no intention of honoring their warranty. Their representatives offer questionable advice (use a voltmeter, check electric supply in a leaking unit, etc.) and clearly could not respond to my plumber who challenged them.

Update to my post earlier today. The third Rheem hot water heater 50 gal, tall version was bought this evening. I installed it because we need baths and I cannot wait for Rheem. I bought this Rheem from Penco instead of Home Depot. Now I do love Home Depot and their customer services is splendid. However , I have learned that Rheem makes different models of the same types for different distributors. Looks like to me Pencos unit cost $476 instead of HD price of $418. Guess what happened? Pencos Rheem was installed and did not leak at all, no leaks, we are finally taking baths. So HD has a cheaper version and its also less quality. Why cheaper if it leaks? Give me Penco. I love ya HD, but I had to stop smelling. Lol.

We have a small space under our house for an electric water heater. We dont have much of a choice. We bought a Rheem 2 years ago, and have to replace because it was leaking out of the seams. We got a new one home, and opened the box. The bottom of the heater was all bent. Had to take it back. Waiting for the replacement, as I type. I told the husband to have them open the box at Home Depot, before he brings it home. Next years investment will be to replumb for an outside or garage heater. I am putting a curse on the people who built this house, and am beating myself up, again, for buying the place.

Summary: $1,500 water heater was declared a lemon by Rheems tech support -- Rheem will not issue a full refund. I purchased a 50 gallon Rheem water heater (PROPG50-40N RH67 PD) from an authorized Rheem dealer, Johnson Thermol Temp Inc., Washington, MI. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi feature, used to raise/lower the water temperature from a smartphone, never worked consistently. After a seemingly random period of time (a few hours to a week) the Wi-Fi connection would drop, resulting in lukewarm-to-cold showers.During the next several months I placed many calls and invested dozens of hours of personal time working with Rheems tech support. To prove my home network wasnt the issue I was required to purchase and install two different Wi-Fi extenders. Rheem/Johnson Thermal made several attempts to troubleshoot the problem. They replaced the Wi-Fi unit. They replaced the gas valve three times. Nothing worked. Unable to solve the problem Rheems tech support declared the water heater a lemon (their words, not mine, case number 3137948) and told me to return it and Johnson Thermal would provide a refund.Johnson Thermal took the water heater back. A few weeks passed; no refund. After two more phone calls to Johnson Thermal and another week went by I received a partial, $700 refund. Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Rheem failed. I placed two calls to their warranty group. Both times I was told that the manager was not available but would call back. Neither call was returned. Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Johnson Thermal failed. I placed a call to the manager -- it was not returned. A partial refund is not acceptable for a water heater that *never* worked properly. My expectation was/is for a full, $1500 refund.

One week before water heater warranty expired, it had problems. Did some troubleshooting, and determined that most likely, the upper element had burned out. Called their customer service, and thats when things got ugly. Gave first person the model/serial numbers and was transferred to their technical service line. Wait time: 86 minutes! Well, what ya gonna do? So I waited...after 1-1/2 hours, I got a technician; explained the issue and was then informed that I had been connected to the GAS water heater line. The first person had transposed two numbers of my serial number and sent me to the wrong line. Seriously. Said I had to transfer to electric queue. Transferred me. Wait time: 84 minutes! Oh, no...not doing that dance again. Hung up and dialed back in. Got to their first level again - explained problem and requested assistance. Was assured I could be transferred to electric tech line and would be bumped up in the queue. Transferred. Wait time: 88 minutes! Seriously? Hung up again and called back. Again. Received immediate message that they were closed. At 10 minutes before 8:00. So much for their Assistance available 24/7 sticker on the water heater. So now, I will have to call back...again...and waste 2 hours...again...all just to get a new heating element sent to me. Ridiculous.

I purchased a brand new Rheem natural gas tank water heater in October of 2020 and last week we lost hot water. I called Rheem customer service on Thursday and they said we need a new gas valve, itll be delivered in two business days. We go all weekend with no hot water, showering at work and the gym. Monday rolls around and still no part. I call again yesterday and there is no order placed under my name!!! After we get the order squared away I ask if someone is going to come and install this new part and they told me a service contract we had expired in Sept. 2021. I told them since they screwed us and didnt place our order the first time they should come install this for us anyways and they said THEY CANT. Its now the next day, I havent gotten an email that the part has shipped and theres no tracking number. I call once again and they said yup, it hasnt shipped yet and left me hanging. WE ARE GOING ON ONE WEEK OF NO HOT WATER. Im doing you a favor, do not buy Rheem! Theyre so useless and unhelpful and dont care.

We installed a brand new Richmond 40 Gallon (Rheem) water heater which we purchased from Menards. It has a faulty Thermal shank. This has left me (and a renter) out of hot water for 3 days, while waiting for the part to arrive. Unfortunately no one has the part in town and there are no service technicians for the Saint Paul Minnesota area. I have called 15 plumbers off the list that was sent to me and I had difficulty finding one who will come out on short notice. I will not trust that I can have someone arrive after hours (@$259 an hour) and still be reimbursed. I will have a person tomorrow morning, but that means I will literally be boiling water for my renters bath. I am not looking forward to the paperwork I need to fill out for my claim. And I am disappointed that I will need to wait for my check to clear as proof of payment before finishing my claim. This is just more of a time delay to an already time consuming situation. This purchase has hurt my rental business. I will encourage others to buy another brand - especially Rental Managers and landlords who cant afford this type of hassle. I wish I could have just returned the product, but it is already filled with water and the gas and water lines are installed. I dont dare try to haul it back to the store for fear that it would be damaged on the way and then Id have an even bigger drama on my hands. And one more frustrating bit to this is the wait time when calling in. It was near a half hour. (Though the service line is faster).

I had completed construction of my new home in 2001 with a 40 gallon Rheem water heater. It lasted until mid year 2012 at which time it developed a leak in the side of the tank about half way down from the top. I was surprised that it only lasted eleven years when past experience was more like 20 to 25 years. I purchased a Rheem 50 gallon water heater on 6-20-12 and immediately experienced trouble with the lower element leaking. The plumber came out and removed the element, cleaned everything and put it back together with Teflon sealer. I notified Rheem, but no one ever returned my call. Yesterday, 11-27-17 I noticed water in the containment pan. I pulled the lower cover and found the lower element leaking again. I tried to reach Rheem customer service with no luck! I strongly recommend avoiding Rheem Manufacturing water heaters. Looking around on the internet, I am not the only one who feels this way. What a terrible company.

I had a Rheem water heater in my new house, only 3 1/2 years old. It ended up being defective and needing replacement. It was very difficult getting any assistance in replacing it. I found a plumber to assist with the installation. I found the wholesaler where my builder purchased the water heater. After 9 months dealing with the wholesaler, I finally was able to get a water heater. I paid the plumber $550.00 for installation, knowing that Rheem would likely cut me a check for this cost. Found out, Rheem was going to let me eat this cost. I would not have incurred this cost if it were NOT for a defective water heater. I was told by a Rheem representative that this cost is not in the warranty. Sorry but very poor business. I will not purchase or recommend any Rheem products because of this.

Purchased at Home Depot in 2017 a 40 gallon Rheem Water Heater, paid for installation from handyman. All was well for about a year when the gas assembly unit went out about a year after initial installation. Forward to February 8, 2020 and the water heater quit again. The first time it quit Rheem had a local installer replace the Gas Control Unit part. This time they just sent the part. I installed it last night and nothing. I can ignite the pilot, but it wont stay lit. I called Rheem again and the gentleman said it sounds like the pilot assembly. So now I have to wait for that part to show up... And I have to install the part. I am so over this company and their failed water heater. Shame on Rheem for not standing by their product and doing the right thing. Shame on them for making a grandma install their failed parts. Shame on Rheem.

I recently purchased a Rheem 40 gallon electric water heater from Home Depot. The day it was installed I waited about 8 hours before trying to use the hot water which was a lot longer than the 2-3 hours recommended by my contractor. Much to my dismay, there was still no hot water! After a second visit from my contractor it was determined the bottom heating element was defective. A call was placed to the 1-800 number on the water heater and here I sit waiting and wondering if a technician will come out to replace the part anytime soon. Very disappointing to have this happen on a brand new water heater.

In Feb. 2014 my home warranty company who by their very nature replace cove
In Feb. 2014 my home warranty company who by their very nature replace covered parts with the cheapest product they can. That’s an issue in and of itself. Sent out a technician who replaced the previous failed water heater with a Rheem 48 gallon tank made in Mexico. It states it right on the model number and serial number sticker. This tank came with a 6 year limited warranty. On 6/28/2020 the tank failed and was leaking out the bottom, luckily I caught it quickly and was able to shut off the water and attach a hose to the tank and drain it before further water damage could occur. I called a plumber who came out first thing in the morning and he took one look at it and confirmed what I knew that it had to be replaced. I asked why this would fail within five months of being out of warranty and he informed me that Rheem is a consumer grade product that’s not very good. As he disconnected the unit and wheeled it away, a stream of red colored water followed it as it exited my garage. I asked the plumber if that was rust and he confirmed that it was.I asked if my whole house water filtration system could have helped the unit fail faster as salt is used in the filtration process. He and my filtration company whom I already had scheduled to come out that day to change our filter medium, both confirmed that this would not have caused this and more so would have helped prolong the system as no sediment would build in the tank.Plumber installed a new tank made in America and told me that this was a solid tank and should easily last 10 years. I contacted the Rheem warranty department and explained my situation and the front line rep stated since I was out of warranty there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak with a supervisor as I felt this was just a few months past warranty and how it failed seemed like planned obsolescence.A supervisor called me the next day and I explained my plight and asked if Rheem could do something given the circumstances. The supervisor stuck to his story and kept referring back to the warranty and that he couldn’t do anything. I even asked if they could do some form of partial compensation as I was out $1800 for the new tank and install. He kept to his company line and stated he couldn’t do anything. In business you can ALWAYS do something, especially for exception situations where it’s clear your product failed sooner then it should have. I asked the supervisor if he truly couldn’t do something or is it more the case he wouldn’t do something. That was a little to close to home and we promptly ended the call as I knew I was dealing with a terrible manufacturer who they and companies like them are more concerned with profits then manufacturing and standing behind their product.Rheem is a common brand sold at Home Depot and Lowe’s outlets. My plumber would never touch them because of their shoddy manufacturing. Rheem is a key example of the current discordant atmosphere in this country as their business practices are focused on greed, period. Use cheap labor in Mexico, less than adequate materials for the purpose of the product and make their margins by mass volume through these national retailers. Staff your customer service with minimum wage or barely over minimum wage to dodge claim calls and ultimately only compensate as few claims as possible. It’s more cost effective to staff customer service and train them to avoid claim fulfillment than it is to make good when their products fail. This company should be shut down, liquidate all its assets, attempt compensate customers who were in warranty and denied and proceed down the list as best as possible. Residual if any, should then be used to fund a start up in either America or Mexico or both and bring in best in class manufacturing processes to produce a truly viable product that the new company will stand behind. DON’T BUY OR INSTALL A RHEEM WATER HEATER. Install a better quality tank and pay the extra cost. You will easily recover that cost in performance as well as not having to deal with costs of home and property damage from a failed tank.

I bought a Rheem water heater in June. Well 5 months later, it started showing errors on the gas control. Also I would sometimes have hot water and other times I would not. Had their service techs come and try and fix. Called Rheem Numerous times and they said it was the gas control and sent me a new one. The tech comes over and installs the new gas control and guess what still doesnt work and I have no hot water. I call Rheem and they say we will send you another gas control. I say you just sent me a brand new one. He says Yes I know. I say I have a family with no hot water for two weeks now and I want you to get me a new water heater under the warranty as its only 5 months old. Rheem says no we wont do that. So I had to buy another water heater and not Rheem of course because I had no hot water heater that would work and all three techs said they couldnt fix it and Rheem wouldnt replace it. Rheem doesnt stand by their warranty. I called Rheem again and told them Im going to have to take them to small claims court and they said ok, good luck to you. This company is horrible and doesnt stand by their work or warranty. I asked them to reimburse me for the water heater and they said no.

Alright, so after having bought a home (Spring, 2017) My water Heater started failing (which was okay with me, its a new house, things fail, it was still under warranty, but I wanted longer showers). So, I bought a new one. Within 3 days, the water heater failed, knocked out my power, and began leaking from the electrical components. Yep. So, I called, and emailed, to get it replaced. After having spent a non-consecutive time span of 15 hours on hold between Rheem and Home Depot, I was continuously growing more and more frustrated. FINALLY, a poor customer service girl, who spent around 45 minutes of her day at Home Depot, had to jump through about a thousand hoops--2 months later. Yep, because of these people, I had been 2 months without hot water, and all of the fun that that brings (YAY!). That was over two weeks ago.Two days ago, I received my new water heater--sorta. They botched the delivery. It was supposed to be delivered to my house, but instead, they shipped it to Home ** Depot, so I had to scramble out of work, and go pick up the thing--did I mention it was delivered a day late? On my work Monday, and I do not work in an industry where you can just pick up and go. I open the box to find, a dent about the size of a baseball, or so--but it gets better. The box was undamaged. They had to ship it in this condition, knowingly. I have emailed them, I have tried calling them, but I have yet to hear back.I am appalled, by this level of unprofessionalism, and lack of quality oversight. And after reading the preceding reviews, I can assure anyone who reads this, that Rheem will never, ever receive any of my business, ever again, and I do not understand why anyone would give them theirs. Go for GE, or Westinghouse, or something else and save yourself the trouble; at least their products sometimes work, and their staff has the decency to at least lie to you.

We had our water heater replaced in Dec 2020 with a Rheem Performance 40 gal that was manufactured in July of 2020. August 13th 2021 the S.I.T. valve went bad, so I contacted Rheem on Monday August 16th as it was a manufacturer warranty issue. Rheem was quick to provide a replacement part and tell me they would schedule a technician. Three days later no part, no technician, no hot water. I called back and this time was told the first service rep had misspelled information and they would fix it and get things sent, but they had no technicians in my area so I could pay a plumber myself and submit it for eventual reimbursement. At this point I was losing patience, the following Monday August 23, we had now been without hot water over a week, but now I had replacement parts, but plumbers in the area werent willing to work on Rheem products and the ones that were were over priced. We are on a fixed income and thanks to other repairs and safety upgrades our savings was nearly gone.I contacted over 22 plumbers and finally just called Rheem back and told them they needed to send a technician because no one wanted to touch their product, if I had still been able to I would have gone to the basement and done it myself. The person showed no empathy so I asked for a supervisor and was put on hold for about 40 minutes, when I finally got the supervisor and was going over this whole thing I glibly remarked,I mean you guys obviously knew you were send out bad units, you have a line dedicated to the specific issue. To which the supervisor (Chris) surprisingly responded, Yes we know. This company knowingly send out bad units, to be installed in homes, offices, daycares... what if the valve had gone bad the other way and not shut off? It could have blown the tank, because relief valves fail more commonly than you would expect. This is a bad company operating on bad policy and in bad faith.

Finally three years 4 water heaters later I bought an American made one!Do not by Rheem or Richmond. If you do I promise in less than a year you will be installing a new one and their warranty is a joke. 3-year warranty. None of mine lasted three years and I couldnt get anything replaced, fixed, refunded. Horrible customer service. Buy any other brand than this. Save yourself the hassle. Spend a little bit more money and get a good brand. Im so sick of replacing hot water heaters. I hate that company. They know its going to break in a year and youll have to buy another one. I purchased a 50 gal Rheem water heater XG50T12DU36U0 from Home Depot, I installed and it would not light up unless I would close and reopen the gas line manually. I called Rheem, troubleshooted the water heater with them over the phone and they decided it was the gas valve. I replaced it for them and the problem continued. I called them again, troubleshooted the heater again and they said it was the ignitor and asked me to replace it. I refused to replaced because I did not want to damage the heater and invalidate the warranty. Their repair company replaced the ignitor, the unit started after many sparks and then would not work again. I called Rheem again, troubleshooted again the flammable gas sensor, reset the gas valve without fixing the problem. They said it was the thermal protection device and asked me to open and remove the burner which I refused to do. I got tired of this and asked to return the unit. Rheem says they do not recommend that because they want to keep troubleshooting the unit (while I take cold showers...) and do not issue a Return Authorization number. Home Depot manager says I need to contact Rheem, get a return authorization number and they do not honor the 90 day return policy nor provide me a copy of it (they said I can take a picture of the policy on the counter). The policy does not mention water heater as non returnable items but still the manager does not accept me to return the heater. The manager said also that since the water heater was installed I cannot return it. Home Depot 1-800 customer service says I can return the unit (with receipt, serial number on heater and undamaged) but they cannot override the store manager. We purchased a Rheem 40 gallon hot water heater yesterday and had it installed by a licensed plumber this afternoon. Install went fine. Turned the water on and then the electric on, and waited a bit so the plumber could make sure all was well. All was not well, the water did not heat. Our plumber ran through the typical diagnostics and came to the conclusion the water heater was bad. Yes, it was bad, but the Rheem customer service was worse. This is a brand new water heater and they have said it was 3 different problems and they will send out a part. We wait for the part and then they will send a tech out--so we could be without hot water for more than a week--they could not give a darn. Brand new and this is the customer service you get--please folks, do not buy a Rheem. This story has a happy ending only because Home Depot in Holiday, FL is awesome. The adjustment dial and power switch located at the bottom of the gas water
The adjustment dial and power switch located at the bottom of the gas water heater has no way to prevent a toddler or incidental contact from adjusting the dial. This is a huge red flag for me where it can easily be turned to the max temperature and can lead to burns. I called Rheem to see if they have a cover or anything that can limit access to the controls and was told that this is not a safety concern or a manufacturer defect and there is nothing that they will do to resolve the concern. I assume it is my 18 month old daughter that is playing with the dial, turning it to the maximum temperature setting, but it could as easily be changed by something inadvertently rubbing on the dial. My home was built in the 70s and the water heater is located in the laundry room, not in a dedicated closet, so it does have more open access than newer homes with dedicated utility closets. Regardless, this is currently a significant safety concern for me and my wife.

I purchased a 50 gallon Rheem Performance Hot water heater from Home Depot a few years ago. Right before Christmas the digital control panel went out. I searched the internet and found out there is a recall on them. I called Rheem customer service and had to wait on hold for at least 30 minutes to talk to a representative. The representative was helpful and sent me the necessary paperwork to fill out. They authorized the repair to be up to $250.00. I had to call Mac Plumbing and the part was delivered and installed on Christmas Eve. So appreciative to get hot water back.I sent all necessary papers to Rheem for the reimbursement right away along with the proof of payment. Rheem never confirmed they received the necessary information. I called Rheem customer service to verify they received the necessary paperwork to process the form. I spent at least 45 minutes on hold. I talk to the representative and he verified they have the necessary paperwork. Then I got disconnected. It is Feb 18th and I have not received the reimbursement of $249.00 they authorized to get the recall repairs complete. I am totally disappointed with Rheems customer service. It is unsatisfactory!

Purchased a Rheem water heater, it failed after 30 days. That was on Oct 15th, it is now Jan 2021. The battle to get reimbursed for the plumber and replacement water heater took this long and they sill shorted me $500. Long wait times on the phone for support, product is sub-par. I would avoid this brand.

Purchased a Marathon 85 gallon Water Heater from Home Depot and had to wait three weeks for it to be shipped from the east coast of Georgia to Columbus Georgia. After receiving the tank, and getting it installed, the “Vacuum Relief Valve” malfunctioned, saturating my drywall (which I had to replace). Called Rheem and was initially told it would be 5 to 7 days for replacement parts. Having explained my situation, they overnighted the parts. 30 minutes after receiving the NEW PARTS I installed the new Vacuum Relief Valve, and wouldn’t you know it, it Malfunctioned once again all over my drywall. I called Rheem and was informed that I would have to pay out of pocket for an authorized rheem service technician to come out and fix the NEW water heater. So, I remove the hot water tank and returned it back to Home Depot. If you are in the Columbus Georgia area and in need of a large water heater, do not buy a Rheem 85 gallon Marathon hot water heater that is discounted in price. It will cost you more than you know. The Rheem Marathon 85 gallon Water Heater is a piece of Plastic JUNK.

I have had this water heater for 1-1/2 years and every 6 months have to have the igniter changed. Getting very expensive for the part and labor. I could have bought a new water heater (certainly not a Rheem though). They know they are having a problem with this so why aren’t they fixing it to make their customers happy. This Rheem gas water heater is CRAP. I always thought Rheem had a good name and quality product. Not anymore. Do not buy from this company. Only wish I had researched before I bought it.

I have a Rheem water heater Model # 22V30F with a broken Pilot Knob. I contacted Rheem and multiple parts suppliers. They all told me the same thing. Rheem does NOT sell the Pilot Knob individually. I need to purchase the Gas Control Valve which costs anywhere from $80.00 to $150.00. What a ripoff! Only the Federal Government would pay $80.00 or more for a knob that is worth less than $5.00. I guess Rheem wants to Ream their customers. I will never ever purchase any Rheem products again. I have seen the same knob on other brands of water heaters. My plumber purchased a Ruud Pacemaker about 8 years ago and installed in my garage, 4 years later it burst from the bottom and flooded my garage, ruining a bunch of personal items. Plumber comes back out and replaces defective heater and puts in a brand new replacement, even though the replacement was free I still had to pay the plumber $350 to install. Well now its five years later and the replacement had water coming from the top of the water heater, another defective heater, my garage flooded again, personal items ruined again!! I call claims dept and they tell me theres nothing they can do because my warranty was only good for the life of the first water heater? What? You have defective products that ruin my garage twice and cost me all kinds of money and theres nothing they can do? How about you make a better product!! I had my water pressure checked and it was fine so thats not the issue, the issue is that these water heaters are junk and Do Not Buy!! They are horrible water heaters, made by a company that doesnt stand behind their products, and insert language in their warranties that screw the consumer in the end. I will be looking for other consumers like me that bought these defective products and hopefully get some type of class action lawsuit going cause I know theres a lot more people that feel the same way I do. I now replaced with a Kenmore and it actually heats the water faster than the Ruud.

Our hot water heater went out and our plumber installed a new one. It would not continuously heat water. Got it traded out for another. Same Problem. For 2 months now, I have to go clear down stairs and reset the system for it to heat water. Now Rheem authorized another plumber to come out and diagnose the issue. The new plumber is saying we need to rip out our 2 inch vent pipe and put in 3 inch vent pipe. Why would we not be told up front this system requires 3 inch versus the 2 inch that houses only 10 years old or so all have!!!

I purchased a new 12-year water heater in December 2009 from Home Depot. Less than two years later (21 Aug 11), the water heater broke down, the pilot light failed to light and there was no hot water. I called GE/Rheem service line and instructions were given to re-light the pilot. I got it going for only five minutes before shutting off again. Then, I called Pacific Gas and Electric Company on the next day, 22 Aug 11, for unbiased diagnostic check. PG&E came on 23 Aug 11 and determined that the water heater was properly installed, the air vents were clear and no obstructions but, again, the pilot light failed to sustain or remain lit for more than six minutes. I called GE/Rheem service line and described the sequence of events. The phone technician quickly stated that she would send a gas valve control which would take care of the problem. I asked if there were problems with these heaters but I did not get a clear answer. She stated that she would send out the part via FedEx to arrive the next day between 10-12 noon. Its already 5:00 p.m. but there is still no part and it is too late now to find a plumber to come install. Meanwhile, it has been four days without hot water. I checked the Internet and found an incredible amount of complaints regarding the specific product of GE water heaters and many of them were purchased from Home Depot.

He started up the unit and said we needed new parts and he would call Rheem to let them know which parts need to be shipped to the house. I called Rheem on Friday the 29th because the unit stopped producing hot water again and the parts were never ordered. Weve been without hot water since Friday the 29th. Hold time to speak to customer service is 40 minutes. Ive been calling everyday 2 to 3 times a day to see if the parts were ordered and still have no answer. Its -6 degrees and Ive been without hot water for 5 full days. Not acceptable! I would never recommend Rheem products to anyone! I understand that the unit itself failed but customer service is ridiculous!

I bought a gas water heater at Home Depot by Rheem about 1 1/2 year ago. It failed, Rheem labels the water heater not to take the water heater back to Home Depot but, to troubleshoot the problem thru the phone with them, after they “think” they know what the problem is, they mail you parts for you as a customer, replace them (like the customer is a plumber or a technician). It didnt work the first time, troubleshooting thru the phone again, now they thought they knew what the problem is, send another part, replace it. It worked for 2 month, and failed again. Call a third time, troubleshoot, then they authorized to take the water heater back to Home Depot for a partial credit... after everything you have to go thru, not having hot water for 2 weeks, paying a plumber for all the labor, taking the water heater back to Home Depot. It’s a very disappointing way of dealing with this kind of help from this company.

I needed to purchase a new natural gas water heater because my Rheem / Rudd brand started leaking. It was installed in 1992 so I figured I couldnt go wrong buying another Rheem. Bought it at the big box store, took it home and had it installed within an hour. I tried to start it up using the easy start system, but the pilot would not stay lit. They idiot proof these new water heaters so you cant actually access anything or complete any kind of small repair. All over the box, the tank, and instruction manual it says that I cant return the unit to the store. I have to call their 1800 number and get assistance. This is where things get interesting. I called the number and explained what was wrong. The support person walks me through the same stuff thats written in the instruction manual. He comes to the conclusion that the unit is defective and tells me a work order will be created and within one day someone will call me. Of course a day passes and no one calls me. So I call Rheem and they tell me that a local company has the work order. Called the local company and they tell me that they dont have the part to fix the tank and they can’t come out until Rheem sends ME the part. I call Rheem, and of course they tell me that they wont send me the part and that the local company has to first come out and diagnose the problem. At this point I am angry and explain to them that it is the middle of winter, I have two small kids and just want hot water. I ask if I can return the tank to the store and they tell that they wont authorize a return until the unit gets diagnosed. I call the local company back and they tell me that Rheem is giving me the run around and that the part is probably on back order so it could be weeks before I get the problem solved. He tells me I would be better off dealing with the big box store. I called the big box store and explained the situation and they agreed to take the unit back as defective. The big box store and the local company apologized. Rheem were jerks. I hope the company goes bankrupt and all of their support people lose their jobs and have to go without hot water.

Failure in 5 years and 10 Months and a 6-year warranty not honored: The Rheem water heater was installed when the house was finished in July 2006. The water heater failed in May 2012, having rusted through the bottom. The product was designed to fail shortly after the warranty date. Water heaters used to be considered durable goods, and that level of quality needs to be our expectation, given the nature and cost of the product.Rheem confirmed that the unit was still covered under warranty. However, the warranty terms and the procedure for replacement are unconscionable to the point where it would be more cost-effective to replace the unit at your own expense. So, we have a non-durable good and a difficulty to enforce warranty. Both of these conditions are illustrative of failure (and indicative of our national culture, which encourages corporate theft through planned obsolensce).I have sent a certified letter to Rheem on these issues and concerns. Lets see if the company will stand by its products. The reviews on this site and others dont give me much hope in this regard.

The Rheem 40 gallon gas water heater never worked properly, temperature could not be adjusted and stayed at 120 degrees, even in low or vacation mode. Customer service had 45 hold time, but finally sent out a local plumber, who believed it was a faulty temperature controller. I again had difficulty getting to Rheem customer service, but they ordered a new temperature controller which was installed by a local plumber. After running hot water for a considerable time with controller in vacation mode the temperature dropped but stayed above the 91 degree stated in owners manual. The next morning I ran hot water on a home thermometer and the temperature shot up to 120 degree, the maximum the thermometer could read. Now I must call to get a third plumber out to correct situation. The owner manual does not say it is a Rheem water heater and it appear to be the same water heater at Home Depot and Lowes. Also the owner manual shows the temperature controller to be a brand name Honeywell but the controller provided appears to be the same, only the Honeywell name is missing. Purchased a Rheems Platinum hot water heater. A little after a year a leak developed and burnt out the control board. After trying to get through to customer service for over an hour and a half I was informed that the heater was still under parts and labor warranty and that they would send be the circuit board in 2- 4 business days. I asked if they could expedite it. Again I was put on hold until the shipping department picked up. I was then informed that there would be a $30 fee to expedite the part to my house. Does not seem fair that I would need to pay for a part that is defective and a direct result of Rheems poor manufacturing. I have a family of 5 without hot water and who knows when the part will arrive and when they can schedule a repair person to install the parts. I pleaded, with no avail, with them to just replace the hot water heater since there was no positive indication of where the leak is occurring. Looks like cold family showers for a while! Finally on Thursday morning, I reached someone who was clearly bored and not caring. She told me a local contractor had the job so I needed to call them. A rude and dismissive person was eventually reached (after 2 hours of calling) at the local contractor number. Nobody could come out until the following day, Friday (today). When he finally showed up, he told me he was there to do a determination on what was needed. Then he had to call Rheem, and order the part. Which would not be shipped until Monday! I wanted to replace a 30yr old RUUD hot water heater. Found out Rheem now owns Ruud. I tried to buy a Rheem out of loyalty and NO local dealers would sell me one without installing it. I found one on Amazon and got free shipping on it. It arrived in great condition. I installed it and sure enough the anode rod cap was cracked through the threads and leaked. This was caused by the suspended weight during shipping. Rheem refused to warranty the part, said it was not a part they warrantied. Unreal, I contacted Amazon and they said they would refund the purchase price for the part. They did (I love Amazon). After 3 years my daughter turned up the tank to midway (C) on the thermostat. Within 2 days the top of the tank sunk in 2 and made it too dangerous to continue using it. After several calls and pictures sent to Rheem they agreed to warranty it (good til 2018). The only problem was NO dealer would handle warranty claim because they didnt install it. I contacted Rheem again with no response. I then filed a Better Business Bureau complaint for a full refund due to the fact I had to drive 50 miles and buy another brand tank to install so my family would have hot water. Rheem again played their delay game and wanted to start the warranty exchange process all over again. I replied I do not want a tank, I have one. I want a refund. They refused. Rheem has to have the worst customer service in the entire business world. NEVER BUY A RHEEM PRODUCT. They operate with the totally outdated dealer network business model to fix prices and make it impossible to get a warranty. Even if you have their dealer install the unit there will be much cost involved to have them warranty repair anything. Terrible management people at RHEEM.

I bought a Rheem water heater in May 2017 from Home Depot. 7 months later it failed right on Christmas Eve. I called Rheem and the warranty part was sent quickly, but since they could not find any contractor in my area to do the work, they said I can use anyone local. I filled out the warranty claim and sent all the required paperwork back on Jan 2nd, 2018. First they said itll take 6 - 8 weeks to process the claim. Its now 2 1/2 month (March 16th, 2018) and my claim was still not processed. The last time Ive called, I was told that they were back-up in the warranty claim department (wow... imagine how many units have failed that could create such a back-up), but since its more than 8 weeks, theyll expedite my claim. Guess what, expedite or not, my claim is still in limbo somewhere. Very disappointed with how Rheem handles customer claim. No wonder no contractor in my area wants to work with Rheem. People, please dont buy Rheem, not worth it when you have to be hold 45 minutes on the phone with them or call them every month to check on your warranty claim just to hear the same excuse.

Hot water heater pilot light problem. I purchased a hot water heater on Oct
Hot water heater pilot light problem. I purchased a hot water heater on October 21, 2015 and on January 14 no hot water! I was told to call our local gas provider PG&E. The service technician for Pacific Gas & Electric arrived at my house Saturday, January 16 and stated that the water heater was no longer good. I then on the same day went to Home Depot with my receipt and the statement from Pacific Gas and Electric. I was then told that they would not take it back. A Home Depot employee told me I would have to call the manufacturer and gave me the phone number. The employee from Home Depot stated that the manufacturer would have to give Home Depot permission to accept the defaulted product. On January 20, 2016, I called the manufacturer and described to him what had happened and read the Pacific Gas & Electric statement to him and he said that they would not allow Home Depot to take it back and exchange it. The employee that I spoke to you from the manufacturer stated that he could mail me some parts or something. I then told him that as a consumer and from what my statement from my local gas company states the product is defaulted.

Had a plumber install a Rheem 40 gallon propane water heater installed in D
Had a plumber install a Rheem 40 gallon propane water heater installed in December 2018. In September 2019 the unit quit working. After several hours on hold and some troubleshooting identified that the internal combustion shut off device had failed. Had a plumber out who confirmed issue and was perplexed with an unusually high amount of soot in the water heater. I explained there was a fire below the burner, which seemed very odd. Once the new part came in we replaced it and it lasted for less than 15 minutes. I then had a second plumber out who checked gas pressure, venting and that everything was installed according to code. We discussed the issue and that Rheem no longer makes good products. We both contact Rheem and explained all the trouble shooting we had done. After an hour on the phone with multiple contacts they finally agreed to send a new burner and internal combustion shut off device. After more than a week of cold showers for this family of six we finally got the parts. New parts were installed and it seemed to work great until today December 1 2019 when the internal combustion shut off device failed again. Been on hold for 45 minutes waiting for customer service. Keep in mind that there has been no change to the venting or the gas pressure. Save yourself some headaches and buy a different brand.

This review is in response to a denial I received from Rheem Manufacturing
This review is in response to a denial I received from Rheem Manufacturing Company regarding a claim I made for a leaking hot water tank that has a 12 year warranty with full coverage (parts and labor) for the first three years. From the day I reported a problem with this Rheem 12 year Gas Hot Water Heater I was treated disrespectfully and it was abundantly clear from the beginning that it was going to be difficult to get this company to back the 12 year warranty on this hot water heater. When I reported the problem I was having with this water heater it was only one and a half years old and still eligible for full no cost labor and parts coverage for the first three years as stated in the warranty verbiage. Rheem customer claim reps gave me a hard time about sending a plumber out to look at the tank and repair it. After asking to speak to a supervisor I was finally told she would send out a plumber and I would be notified by someone who would set up an appointment. I then get a call and was told they cant find any authorized Rheem plumbers in my area and asked if I would contact a plumber on my own and have the plumber fix the leaking tank if possible and send their bill to Rheem for reimbursement. I tried to find a plumber but none would come when I told them they had to submit their bill to Rheem for payment. I ended up fixing the tank myself with some help from a friend who is a plumber apprentice.I turned in a claim for $18.06 and this chincy company denied payment, unbelievable!!!! Imagine what the claim would have been if a plumber would have fixed the tank and for sure I would have been stuck with that bill!!! I notified Home Depot (where I purchased the water heater} Customer Service and they were appalled when I told them this story. I only notified them because I wanted Rheem to be reported for their extremely poor customer service and not fulfilling their warranty agreements. Home Depot is one of Rheems largest dealers of their products and did not agree with Rheems denial of this claim. They told me they were going to file a grievance against Rheem for the way this claim was handled and to show their appreciation of my loyal patronage sent me a $25 Gift Card. I will never buy a Rheem product again and will tell all every chance I get of this horrible experience. If you need a new hot water heater be very leery about buying a Rheem.Rick **
