Rheem Calentador de agua Garantia

Rheem offers several different types of water heaters, each with its own warranty. Here's a brief overview of Rheem's water heater warranties:

Tank-Type Water Heaters: Rheem's tank-type water heaters come with a warranty that ranges from 6 to 12 years, depending on the model. The warranty covers both the tank and parts.

Tankless Water Heaters: Rheem's tankless water heaters come with a warranty that ranges from 5 to 12 years, depending on the model. The warranty covers the heat exchanger and parts.

Hybrid Water Heaters: Rheem's hybrid water heaters come with a warranty that ranges from 6 to 10 years, depending on the model. The warranty covers both the tank and parts.

It's important to note that the warranty terms and conditions may vary depending on the specific model and installation location. Additionally, the warranty may be voided if the water heater is not installed or maintained properly. To ensure that you are eligible for warranty coverage, it's best to have your Rheem water heater installed by a licensed professional and to follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule.

Installed this water heater on 11-23-19. Had two leaks right away. One from the cold water nipple and one from the pressure relief valve. I fixed them, now water temp is 98 degrees. Called the warranty department and there are no techs to service this water heater in central PA. Told me to call a licensed plumber to fix it and they will pay for the repairs. I called several plumbers and finally found one to come out before the holiday. He will not deal with the warranty company so I have to pay the bill and then submit that to Rheem. They then told me it would be 4-8 weeks before I was reimbursed. The representative was rude. When I told him I would never buy another product from this company he simply said, Okay, bye and hung up on me. They do not deserve any stars.

I have bought two Rheem tankless water heaters in the last three years. The first was undersized and quit working. I get that. The second was the Professional RTEX-27 series which is classified as a whole house water heater. Had for 11 months and it also quit working. 743.00 dollars for a 10 month water heater, never again.

I have had good luck with Rheem gas hot water tank. I bought it 23 years ago, installed it myself and it is still going. Since that time I have added a garage to my house and want to put it in the garage. I am going to buy a new one because I am on borrowed time with it now and my next one will be a Rheem unless someone knows another one can outlast mine?

Cant I get no stars? My water heater broke (leaking) after 5.8 years. It is still under Rheem warranty, so I called Rheem and they said I had to take the water heater back to where it was purchased to get credit or a replacement. I cant remember where it was purchase and I cannot even lift the water heater. My plumber is not willing to take the heater to where it was purchased without charging me the time which is substantial. So Rheem wont honor the warranty unless I bring the whole water heater, this makes no sense. In essence they are saying if I cant carry the water heater into the place it was purchased I can get reimbursed. What is that but a sham! I will never purchase a Rheem product again!

I purchased a tankless water heater from Rheem and after the install was completed it did not stay on always shutting off at no particular time or reason. Rheem sent off many parts and I had many service calls to put the new parts on at my cost. Then two and half years went by and I thought that all of the parts that were defective had been replaced. No, the unit started shutting down again. Then, Rheem replaced the unit but would not reimburse me for the labor to install the new one. I waited sixteen weeks for them to finally tell me that they would not give me a dime for the cost of their defective produce. I had been in contact with them throughout that time period and they had asked for all of my paper work. They had such an extensive file on this case that they had given it two different case numbers over the years. In conclusion I would not recommend dealing with this company they have a bad public relation policy. Jessica

Purchased a Rheem hot water tank and had it installed August 2020. It is now mid December 2020, and the hot water is running out in short time. This was due to the bottom heating element failing. Rheem’s warranty at this point is full parts and full labor. Called Rheem and after a few transfers I was finally given a service approval. Their plumber did call the next day and they did show up the following day. The tech tested the bottom element and stated the element faired due to Dry Fire. I know this was not the case. The electric was only turned back on after the tank was filled and the water lines had the air evacuated. I mentioned these details to the service tech, and he gives me this other BS explanation about if the tank was left outside to long when it was being installed-the sun can heat up the element- bla, bla, bla....Here is the bottom line. Things can break for no reason other than it has an issue, maybe during manufacturing but if a company offers a warranty then they should honor it! Rheem did not for me. Hopefully if you buy something from them and you have an issue they will honor their commitments. Rheem shame on you. PS- I fixed it myself- took all of 10 minutes once the tank was drained. The service tech took more time talking to Rheem and writing up if excuse than it took to do the work. Im also a Builder of 30+ years so I has completed my share of hot water tank installs.

I purchased a new 12-year water heater in December 2009 from Home Depot. Less than two years later (21 Aug 11), the water heater broke down, the pilot light failed to light and there was no hot water. I called GE/Rheem service line and instructions were given to re-light the pilot. I got it going for only five minutes before shutting off again. Then, I called Pacific Gas and Electric Company on the next day, 22 Aug 11, for unbiased diagnostic check. PG&E came on 23 Aug 11 and determined that the water heater was properly installed, the air vents were clear and no obstructions but, again, the pilot light failed to sustain or remain lit for more than six minutes. I called GE/Rheem service line and described the sequence of events. The phone technician quickly stated that she would send a gas valve control which would take care of the problem. I asked if there were problems with these heaters but I did not get a clear answer. She stated that she would send out the part via FedEx to arrive the next day between 10-12 noon. Its already 5:00 p.m. but there is still no part and it is too late now to find a plumber to come install. Meanwhile, it has been four days without hot water. I checked the Internet and found an incredible amount of complaints regarding the specific product of GE water heaters and many of them were purchased from Home Depot.

Hi there, I am a home builder by the name of Ivaan Interiors in Winnipeg, Canada and I bought a 60-gallon HWT from Home Depot last month Dec 2021 for my new house to sell. The hot water tank was installed on-site by a licensed plumber and electrician. The electrician found that its not heating and consuming double Amperes as compared to it and tripping the circuit breaker. The electrician double-checked all the wiring but it didnt work and mentioned that there is some problem inside. We called customer service and they said, We can send parts, and we have to get it repaired at our end. THIS IS RIDICULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. How can we repair and why should we spend another hundred bucks to get it repaired. We didnt buy this brand new product to take the pain to repair. The buyer is taking possession next month. I want it to be repaired or replaced asap. I would appreciate if this matter is taken seriously and solved immediately. Manish

Rheem Performance natural gas hot water heater installed June, 2020. May, 2021 water temperature swinging 90 - 140 degrees intermittently. July, 2021 called installer, he had me call Rheem. August, 2021, Rheem sent me the controller/gas valve device. Had my installer swap the controller, paid $150. The new controller was dead, did not work! Installer put old controller in so I would at least have hot water. Called Rheem again, they said to remove and bring back to Home Depot. Even though the problem started in less than a year they will not cover installation. So now I have to pay. Going to file with small claims court now. One more thing, plan on spending hours on hold to get to their customer support. Stay away from Rheem hot water heaters.... junk.

Similar to some of the stories I have read here, I had the displeasure of owning a Rheem Power Vent water heater. There was trouble from the start. Ive previously spent close to $700 on labor for covered repairs.” Today was the last straw. The blower was gone again! It’s another $350-400 in labor to replace. We told them to yank the Rheem and give us something that would work. Here is the list: a blower (twice), a valve that went bad, and something with the electronic unit all inside of five years! Sure, the part is covered, but I cant afford this piece of junk. Until this water heater, I had owned three others at various homes over 17 years and never once had a repair. Please pass the word about Rheem water heaters. They should be making things right.

I am a maintenance technician at a town home complex that had 30 Rheem power vent water heaters installed in them 4 years ago. Of the thirty heaters I have had to replace, 21 gas control valves, I have to call because they are under warranty yet. But our tenants have had to wait 7 days for the part to show up to fix the problem. Rheem knows they have a problem because after giving them the model and serial numbers from the I.D. plate, they send out a new valve. My issues are angry tenants because they have no hot water and I have received repair calls every day of the week, weekends and late in the evenings or very early in the mornings. I even had a replacement gas valve go bad so they have not fixed the problem from what I can see. The operator at the service center told me that I had already replaced a valve on a unit after he checked the serial number, and I told him he was right it was. Now we just built another 24 unit complex here and after begging the owners to not put these in they still put the exact units in here. All I can say is Rheem must give a big push to contractors to keep moving this brand.

Water heater died two days before Thanksgiving. Knowing I had guests coming for Thanksgiving dinner, I bought a Rheem gas-fired water heater at Home Depot. Installed it (which took me quite a while as I am not a professional plumber). Pilot would not light. Called technical support. They told me they were over-nighting the required part to me to arrive the following day and that a local plumber would call me to schedule installation. Guy never called. Second call: Was told someone would be calling me within another hour. Third call: Rheem then told me they personally called another plumber in their service network who would call me within minutes. No call. I called the plumber. He told me he could not schedule install until he knows I have the part. Fourth call: Rheem told me they could not confirm the part had, in fact shipped until the following morning.Fifth call: After a long time on hold they told me it had not shipped yet. Now advised it would arrive the day after Thanksgiving. I asked where I could buy the part locally (at my own expense). Tech support told me they dont have that info. I argued they MUST at least know who their wholesale distributor is in Maryland so I could locate the part and advise their local plumber that the part is available or pick it up and have it available at my home for him to install. Rheem tech support guy just kept repeating they dont have that info. I asked him to do me the favor of calling their parts division to find out. Told me they dont have the info necessary to make that call within their own company.I elevated the matter to a supervisor. He just kept repeating they are the tech support department and dont have the info necessary to contact the parts division. No rationale. Just kept repeating, We are just tech support. We dont have that information over and over again as if purposely trying to irritate me. I asked to elevate it one level higher - just to find out who is the local parts distributor. Was left on hold for 35 minutes before I hung up. The call wasted more than an hour.Calls the prior day amounted to nearly two hours. Then I called 8 plumbers and 6 supply companies around the state. Was told by several of them that no company stocks Rheem water heater parts. It became clear why Rheem tech support refused to provide the name of any wholesaler or retailer of parts in Maryland and simply kept repeating, We are just tech support. We dont have that information. There are no parts wholesalers nor dealers who carry Rheem water heater parts - at least in Maryland and Virginia. Im hoping the part will arrive the Friday after Thanksgiving and that it can be installed the same day. Otherwise, we will have gone an entire week without hot water due to a defective new water heater and desperately horrible customer service.

I needed to purchase a new natural gas water heater because my Rheem / Rudd brand started leaking. It was installed in 1992 so I figured I couldnt go wrong buying another Rheem. Bought it at the big box store, took it home and had it installed within an hour. I tried to start it up using the easy start system, but the pilot would not stay lit. They idiot proof these new water heaters so you cant actually access anything or complete any kind of small repair. All over the box, the tank, and instruction manual it says that I cant return the unit to the store. I have to call their 1800 number and get assistance. This is where things get interesting. I called the number and explained what was wrong. The support person walks me through the same stuff thats written in the instruction manual. He comes to the conclusion that the unit is defective and tells me a work order will be created and within one day someone will call me. Of course a day passes and no one calls me. So I call Rheem and they tell me that a local company has the work order. Called the local company and they tell me that they dont have the part to fix the tank and they can’t come out until Rheem sends ME the part. I call Rheem, and of course they tell me that they wont send me the part and that the local company has to first come out and diagnose the problem. At this point I am angry and explain to them that it is the middle of winter, I have two small kids and just want hot water. I ask if I can return the tank to the store and they tell that they wont authorize a return until the unit gets diagnosed. I call the local company back and they tell me that Rheem is giving me the run around and that the part is probably on back order so it could be weeks before I get the problem solved. He tells me I would be better off dealing with the big box store. I called the big box store and explained the situation and they agreed to take the unit back as defective. The big box store and the local company apologized. Rheem were jerks. I hope the company goes bankrupt and all of their support people lose their jobs and have to go without hot water.

I purchased a 50 gal Rheem water heater XG50T12DU36U0 from Home Depot, I installed and it would not light up unless I would close and reopen the gas line manually. I called Rheem, troubleshooted the water heater with them over the phone and they decided it was the gas valve. I replaced it for them and the problem continued. I called them again, troubleshooted the heater again and they said it was the ignitor and asked me to replace it. I refused to replaced because I did not want to damage the heater and invalidate the warranty. Their repair company replaced the ignitor, the unit started after many sparks and then would not work again. I called Rheem again, troubleshooted again the flammable gas sensor, reset the gas valve without fixing the problem. They said it was the thermal protection device and asked me to open and remove the burner which I refused to do. I got tired of this and asked to return the unit. Rheem says they do not recommend that because they want to keep troubleshooting the unit (while I take cold showers...) and do not issue a Return Authorization number. Home Depot manager says I need to contact Rheem, get a return authorization number and they do not honor the 90 day return policy nor provide me a copy of it (they said I can take a picture of the policy on the counter). The policy does not mention water heater as non returnable items but still the manager does not accept me to return the heater. The manager said also that since the water heater was installed I cannot return it. Home Depot 1-800 customer service says I can return the unit (with receipt, serial number on heater and undamaged) but they cannot override the store manager. Do NOT buy RHEEM WATER HEATERS from HOME DEPOT.

I purchased a 50 gallon Rheem Performance Hot water heater from Home Depot a few years ago. Right before Christmas the digital control panel went out. I searched the internet and found out there is a recall on them. I called Rheem customer service and had to wait on hold for at least 30 minutes to talk to a representative. The representative was helpful and sent me the necessary paperwork to fill out. They authorized the repair to be up to $250.00. I had to call Mac Plumbing and the part was delivered and installed on Christmas Eve. So appreciative to get hot water back.I sent all necessary papers to Rheem for the reimbursement right away along with the proof of payment. Rheem never confirmed they received the necessary information. I called Rheem customer service to verify they received the necessary paperwork to process the form. I spent at least 45 minutes on hold. I talk to the representative and he verified they have the necessary paperwork. Then I got disconnected. It is Feb 18th and I have not received the reimbursement of $249.00 they authorized to get the recall repairs complete. I am totally disappointed with Rheems customer service. It is unsatisfactory!

We purchased a 40 gallon Rheem water tank at The Home Depot. I installed the device myself. When it was time to start up the water heater, the pilot light would not ignite. I called Rheem and spoke with a representative who walked me through the troubleshooting process. He determined the pilot assembly unit was faulty and that he would send out a new one. This new unit would arrive in two days - which would be Tuesday. The part did not arrive until Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. To make matters worse and prolong our life without hot water, a contracted plumber could not install the new part until Monday, December 2. Our previous water heater lasted for thirteen years without any issues. This Rheem piece of junk couldnt even get started on install! Summary: $1,500 water heater was declared a lemon by Rheems tech support -- Rheem will not issue a full refund. I purchased a 50 gallon Rheem water heater (PROPG50-40N RH67 PD) from an authorized Rheem dealer, Johnson Thermol Temp Inc., Washington, MI. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi feature, used to raise/lower the water temperature from a smartphone, never worked consistently. After a seemingly random period of time (a few hours to a week) the Wi-Fi connection would drop, resulting in lukewarm-to-cold showers.During the next several months I placed many calls and invested dozens of hours of personal time working with Rheems tech support. To prove my home network wasnt the issue I was required to purchase and install two different Wi-Fi extenders. Rheem/Johnson Thermal made several attempts to troubleshoot the problem. They replaced the Wi-Fi unit. They replaced the gas valve three times. Nothing worked. Unable to solve the problem Rheems tech support declared the water heater a lemon (their words, not mine, case number 3137948) and told me to return it and Johnson Thermal would provide a refund.Johnson Thermal took the water heater back. A few weeks passed; no refund. After two more phone calls to Johnson Thermal and another week went by I received a partial, $700 refund. Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Rheem failed. I placed two calls to their warranty group. Both times I was told that the manager was not available but would call back. Neither call was returned. Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Johnson Thermal failed. I placed a call to the manager -- it was not returned. A partial refund is not acceptable for a water heater that *never* worked properly. My expectation was/is for a full, $1500 refund.

Purchased a Marathon 85 gallon Water Heater from Home Depot and had to wait three weeks for it to be shipped from the east coast of Georgia to Columbus Georgia. After receiving the tank, and getting it installed, the “Vacuum Relief Valve” malfunctioned, saturating my drywall (which I had to replace). Called Rheem and was initially told it would be 5 to 7 days for replacement parts. Having explained my situation, they overnighted the parts. 30 minutes after receiving the NEW PARTS I installed the new Vacuum Relief Valve, and wouldn’t you know it, it Malfunctioned once again all over my drywall. So, I remove the hot water tank and returned it back to Home Depot. I moved into a brand new home in April 2016. I started having issues with my Rheem tankless water heater approximately 5 months after move in. It kept displaying a error code 12. The builder immediately had his plumber come out. We also included the gas provider in attempting to solve the mystery. After very extensive inspection, it was determined there were no issues at all with plumbing of the gas. Rheem sent another plumber out to change the fire rods. That seem to fix the issue. But, the error code returned approximately 2 months later. At that time, they sent another plumber out to do the same thing. Well, here it goes again... The same error code is back. Rheem has been very unresponsive to my requests. My family and I have had to endure this nightmare for a year and a half. Supposedly, we purchased the “top of the line” unit from Rheem. However, the service I’ve received so far doesn’t reflect that at all. Rheem needs to do the right thing, and replace the unit.

I was told by a Rheem rep the new part has been redesigned but Rheem was not covering labor even though it affect all the water heaters they make. Very angry and disappointed in Rheem product and customer service. At this point labor cost for repair is $95.00 a hour. A lot of money for a unemployed person!!!

Bought a new Rheem 50 gallon gas water heater from Home Depot. Plumber installed water heater but it kept cutting off. He walked with Rheem technician and found the new heater had a faulty valve. After a lengthy delay, Rheem sent the new valve and it was installed. We tried to have Rheem pay Amerigas (he worked for them) for the installation. After repeated delays because of missing paperwork (we sent multiple copies), Rheem indicated they would pay the gas company. They have not and now the gas company tells us we are late in our payment. We have never been late in our payments to anyone!Today Rheem told us they had sent us a letter (Right! We have received no such letter!) telling us they will only pay about 40% of the installation fee for that defective part. NEVER AGAIN!! Do not buy from Rheem. They send defective products then fail to cover the installation cost of replacement parts. Never again! Stay away from this company. Now we are left to worry about this water heater should anything go wrong with it in the future! What kind of company is this!! Oh, and their service department is a joke. Sadly the joke was on us. Stay away!!!!

We purchased A Rheem Water Heater, model #6G40-36F3 at Menards. My husband installed it and as he tried to light it the ignitor would not work 90% of the tries. Called the phone number for Rheem in a big sticker on the side of the heater. It says not to return to the store to call them for assistance. It said they were not available even though according to the sticker on it they are available 7 days a week. We looked up some other numbers and tried to contact them but no one available. Finally my husband got someone on a number that we found after a couple of hours of frustration. She agreed that the ignitor was bad and was sending us a new one. It would take 3-4 business days and this was on Saturday. The ignitor arrived on Wednesday and was an easy install. This episode was more time consuming and frustrating than necessary. If you have a big red sticker on the side of the water heater saying not to return to the store but call Rheem then you should make sure that phone number is actually answered by someone. When I brought this frustrating experience to Rheems attention they requested that I call them. When I called I was placed in a queue that said it would be about 20 minutes. I emailed them and said I was not willing to sit waiting approximately 20 minutes for them to take my call and told them to call me which was almost a month ago. Very poor customer service. Be aware when you purchase that they may not be available to help if there is a problem.

I purchased a Rheem 50 Gallon Electric Hot Water Heater in November 2018. Immediately after installation I got an error message that the lower temperature sensor was damaged. I called Rheem immediately. After more than 3 weeks and more than 5 phone calls they still cant get a technician to fix the problem (I live in Portland, Oregon).Last phone call they said to me that they got a technician in Buffalo NY. When I told them, for third time, that I live in Oregon, the person decided to escalate the ticket to her supervisor. This guy (supervisor) send me a list with technicians who work in the area where I live. I called the first person in the list. He said to me that he does not work with Rhemm (!!) Prepare to be on hold for long periods of time when you call scam company. I wish I never bought this hot water heater and I hope others see my review so they can be saved the stress that Ive been going through. Today is December 23rd. Christmas with no hot water. Thanks Rheem!

Just replaced 2 gas water heaters with new Rheem water heaters. After three weeks the 1 went out and I have waited a week now for Rheem to send a technician. When I call to follow up I’m given the run around with no commitment to repair anything? I’m beginning to believe these warranties are bogus? I keep calling and cannot get a commitment date for a technician/plumber to come out and repair this water heater that cost me over $1100.00. I need hot water! I don’t understand why Rheem cannot find a plumber when there are plenty available? They try to make you believe that they have special technicians to repair Water heaters but no one can make a commitment or even find a plumber? I think this warranty they supposedly provide is nothing more than a sales scheme to draw in unsuspecting customers to buy their water heaters. I’m very disappointed in my experience so far????.

I purchased a 50 gallon water heater a week ago. From the day it was installed it leaked. I have had someone from the installer, Rheem or Home Depot at my house every day. They replaced a heating element and it still leaked. Now they are trying to blame me that it was not leaking, as there was no water in the pan when the repair guy left. Really... It leaks every time about an hour after they leave. Now, they tell me it might be the pressure valve and I have to pay for the visit and fix. Funny, old heater worked fine with no leaks, just old and lots of crud in the bottom. In the last discussion, the Rheem agent told me that it might be an expansion thing that happens naturally and leaks into the pan. Now, I am beside myself and not dumb, you should never have water in the pan. Rheem/Home Depot, stand up and take responsibility for the products you sell. I pay $1400 for nothing but headaches and stress hoping the thing doesnt explode and flood my home.

We built a new house in 2013. Our Rheem 50 gallon water heater is only 8 years old but of course, this happens right after the warranty is expired. We finished our basement about a year ago. Thanks to this water heater failing, we now have to replace not just the water heater, but all of our beautiful new hardwood flooring, the carpet in the bedroom and some of the drywall. Original water heater = $1,000. New water heater = $1,000. Homeowners insurance deductible = $1,000. Time off from work to remove everything from the basement to pull up the flooring = $840. Total cost of owning this thing = $3,840. Steer clear, folks.

Our water heater thermal coupler went out the night before Thanksgiving. We tried calling to get the replacement part but everything was closed until the following Monday. We called the tech support and the customer service said that he has been doing his job for so many years and it was not the thermal coupler and said it was the gas control unit. We took his word since he said he was the expert. We paid to have it expedited for next day. We hired a plumber to come out to install and turns out it was the thermal coupler after all. I paid for the plumber for the service call. I called Rheem and after over an hour waiting was finally able to talk to the manager and he agreed to refund the expedited delivery charge. Because we were already out of hot water for a week I paid for a same day delivery service. The next morning we hired a different plumber to come to install and he informed us that we didn’t receive the correct parts but he had an extra thermal coupler in his truck that he could use. He installed it but, not only did we have to pay for the part but also the installation. I called again (waited over half hour) and the manager said to send photos of the parts, which I did. He sent an email for me to call to discuss.Again, waited on the line only to be put through to someone else, went through the whole story again only for them to tell me I had to speak to another manager. Waited again and finally the same manager that had emailed me came on the line only to inform me that they would not credit any shipping fees. I offered to compromise and pay for the same day service but he refused, was condescending and not willing to help at all. I highly recommend you stay away from any RHEEM water heater products. Both plumbers that came said that they are the worst to deal with.

I bought a 75 gallons water heater and it stopped working in 6 months. Contacted Rheem to have it fixed. And they sent me replacement parts while claimed that my labor warranty is not available (on the heaters specification and receipt stated 1 year labor and 6 years parts warranty). They took almost a month to have this issue solved with multiple parts sent. 6 months later, the heater failed again. This time, they want me to get a multimeter and test each components to find out which one fail so they can send me that part. My family is without heated water for another month during this cold winter. I will not buy another Rheem or company related products after this horrible experience.

Rheem sent part and it was replaced 5 days later. After a few days it went back to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and was told they would send another gas valve for replacement. After 2nd replacement of valve, a few days later it went back to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and they recommend replacement of vapor sensor. Vapor sensor was installed and again went to vacation mode. Plumber called Rheem and they recommend replacement of wire harness. After this replacement I had NO warm water. Plumber replaced complete unit on 9-24-16. Rheem covered the water heater but would not cover labor. Because of all their replacement recommendations my labor charges came to 1767.00. After reading the other reviews, why isnt this heater recalled?

Once my tenant started complaining that there was no hot water, I checked the water heater and the pilot was blown out. I re-lit the pilot and thought it would be good. Several hours later the pilot blew out again. This process happened all weekend. On Sunday night I stayed on hold with Rheem support team for 1 hour and 50 minutes. After explaining what was happening, They reassured me that they would have someone come out and call me tomorrow. That never happened! I have had a lot of back and forth with this company all ending with broken promises. Having me find a plumber and paying for everything. On Oct. 3, 2011, I ordered a part for my 4 year old water heater. It was because my repairman said that Rheem will not send them to repairmen so they can repair it, and that I can only get one part replaced. If it goes bad again, I have to replace the water heater. Its not good. So, we contacted Rheem and ordered the part at approximately 2:00 pm. They said it would be shipped over night. It wasnt. I called them the next day. They said it was not going to get here until the next day. I thought that by buying a name brand water heater, it would be reliable. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Whatever happened to customer service? The people I talked to were just a call center, so they really didnt care.

Purchased GE ULTRA LOW NO x 6 Year Gas Water Heater, by Rheem Manufacturing
Purchased GE ULTRA LOW NO x 6 Year Gas Water Heater, by Rheem Manufacturing from Home Depot in Modesto, Ca. First problem was at 1 & 1/2 years after purchase. Upon inspection of PG&E I was told Thermocouple had to be replaced and most likely it was a faulty part and or product (Not knowing about the hundreds of complaints similar of mine). The part was replaced at my expense. One year later the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th problems occurred (3 times in 5 months). Upon inspecting a LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND in my hall area, we discover the pilot light is no longer lit on the GAS WATER HEATER. Initially there are problems in re-lighting it but fortunately it has re-lit.It then came to mind to begin searching for this products recall. Not as easy of a task and I continue my search for a recall, but in the process I have found this water heater is no longer sold by Home Depot; every review was bad with most stating the thermocouple having to be replaced within the first two years, and this product has been discontinued. The GE Appliance website states this model is no longer being manufactured. And it is no wonder. What I am curious about is what it takes for a product to be recalled because from what I have researched it is the opinion of hundreds that this water heater is junk, a hassle to deal with the continuous problems, very costly. I pray not, although I fear the explosive sound could be a danger or deadly. If I could I would most definitely purchase another water heater but I am currently disabled, living on a limited income that I cannot even make it on each month. Therefore I pray for our safety and that the water heater does not have any further problems. As I have written this complaint, I have to GE as well. And Ill continue to seek a recall for this product. MY ADVISE, DO NOT BUY A GE WATER HEATER MANUFACTURED BY RHEEM!

This means we HAVE to reset our water tank every time or we have no hot water. I purchased an electric 30 gallon hot water heater from home depot (Plymouth meeting,pa.) 06 Oct 2019. After plumbing the lines and filling the tank, the heater leaked from the bottom. Everybody is so concerned with American made products, this company is located in Alabama. Purchased a 50 gallon water heater in 2011 with a nine-year Rheem guarantee. Awakened yesterday to a leak in the unit. Since I was 5 years into the warranty period, I did not expect much but called the customer service anyway. A polite technical representative explained that the element gasket had failed after I described the leak. Called my plumber who came immediately and determined that the unit failed. He replaced both elements. Still leaked. Called customer service again and they suggested something I did not understand related to the power supply. The plumber took the phone. Within minutes he whispered to me the technicians at Rheem were not knowledgeable. He asked one of the three he spoke to how many heaters she had installed. She told him she had observed an installation once. He spent 1.5 hours trying to get them to honor the warranty in any way.I went to Lowes and purchased a new heater which my plumber installed without charge. The final Rheem representative told me I had invalidated the warranty with the new installation. She stated we could have gone through additional technical assessment via phone had I not replaced the unit. I asked for one example and she stated Testing the junction box. I responded that she was talking nonsense and asked what other technical assessments we could have done. She repeated that it did not matter because I had replaced the unit and invalidated the warranty. Please read the other stories presented here. The pattern is the same. Rheem had no intention of honoring their warranty. Their representatives offer questionable advice (use a voltmeter, check electric supply in a leaking unit, etc.) and clearly could not respond to my plumber who challenged them.

We bought ten of the direct vent models for our 10 apartments and they turned out to be the worst nightmare we got into. Everyone has failed either with hard lockout or leaking at the drain valve. Their technical support is always looking to deflect the fault to installation, venting or something else. Their use a plastic pipe for drain valve which cracks and leaks. We was on the phone every other day to asked for support. Some of the techs came to their sense and request brass drain valves, many of them just insisted on sending the same plastic valve again. They never tested these drain valves. Everyone has a hairline crack which leaks out water making a mess. Every time this happens, it takes them a couple of days to send replacement. After I gave a scathing review on their website, they quit talking to me. I now pledge to make sure consumers do not buy these direct vent heaters again from Rheem. Please avoid at all costs!

I just acquired a new hot water heater and wanted to learn more about preventative maintenance needed to prolong its useful life. One agent was helping me with ensuring warranty dates are accurate as their records show warranty start date as date of manufacture. Date of install is 5 months later.. They have a website for registration but that did not help update their warranty records. He told me to use their website again. I told him I already did that and nothing changed. Then, he said all I had to do reply to his email with copies of invoices and extended warranty info and all will be taken care of. A day later, nothing. So I called back and somebody else says she will look into it, update records and EMAILl me a screenshot to show it is done. No email received but warranty record was updated to correct start at date of install but did not include extended warranty date of additional 4 years. So now I have to call them back regarding this. Why is it so hard?In addition, I wanted to buy extra anode rods (secondary, connected to HOT WATER Side) so that I have them readily available 5 years or so from now. That seems to be a VERY complicated process. Always requires Serial number which is totally irrelevant. All manufacturers anode rods are universal. Difference is length of rod, length of nipple (for those that are installed in the HOT WATER side of the tank) and material composition. After half a dozen emails back and forth, still no info as to how I can get the anode rod needed. I even gave them part numbers and they told me to contact another department as the department I contacted do not handle customer service inquiries, just website related. HUH???Another customer service rep emailed me instruction on how to maintain as well as user manual. I thanked him for it, asked him more questions, and.... NO RESPONSE since then.. A couple of follow up emails and still no. WHY? Frankly, I worry about the service I will be getting from this company when something really wrong happens.. I may have made a mistake buying their stuff. Their A/C unit is outstanding. Water heater is another story as I had problems with inaccurate thermostat BUT, to their credit a new thermostat was immediately sent and that fixed my problem. I worry what else will go wrong and the runaround I will get. Caveat Emptor !!!

I replaced my old water heater at my rental property after 15 years and due to the small space I have, I purchased a "Performance Platinum" little over 5 years ago. It's been working well and tenants are happy. Couple of weeks ago the pilot stopped working and wouldn't stay ON. Looked up in YouTube and found a few Very Useful clips by professional repairmen. The "Gas Valve" had stopped working and needed to be replaced. Called Rheem's Customer Service Dept and on the phone they suggested the same thing as I explained the problem. They actually sent me 2 parts they thought needed. One was the Thermocouple and the other one a Gas Valve. I had already cleaned the Thermocouple but they still sent me the part to make it easier for me. I replaced the Gas Valve and problem solved. Yes I did happily pay $30 to expedite the shipping which made it 2 days. I am very happy with the Water Heater and very happy with the Customer service dept. But I think Honeywell should make better quality Gas Valves. Because a Gas Valve in my experience should work well over 12 to 14 years, especially Honeywell. Thanks Rheem.

Yesterday we contacted Rheem regarding one of their hot water tanks that was only installed in April 2015, due to a loud bang then started leaking from the bottom. They authorized a replacement since was way under the Warranty Period. So far we were happy with the outcome. It wasnt UNTIL we took the defective tank back to Home Depot where it was originally purchased. First of all, they had no clue as to what they were doing, couldnt find our receipt even though was purchased with their CC and finally did NOT even do an even exchange. They charged us the difference from what was paid in April 2015 and what the price of the tank is NOW. Their reasoning behind this is the tank that was purchased in 2015 is NO LONGER manufactured so we had to get the one compatible to it. FIRST off, is it my fault the Hot Water Tank which was less than a year old went! SECONDLY, again is it my fault the original tank is NO LONGER manufactured! We proceeded to contact Rheem today regarding this issue, at which time they advised they have NO control how Home Depot processes Rheems defective merchandise/warranties or their prices. I was shocked and told the Customer Service Rep so. How can a company offer a warranty and NOT FULLY honor it. This should have been an even exchange regardless. I could understand if we wanted to upgrade or purchase larger. This was the only tank that was available.

This review is in response to a denial I received from Rheem Manufacturing
This review is in response to a denial I received from Rheem Manufacturing Company regarding a claim I made for a leaking hot water tank that has a 12 year warranty with full coverage (parts and labor) for the first three years. From the day I reported a problem with this Rheem 12 year Gas Hot Water Heater I was treated disrespectfully and it was abundantly clear from the beginning that it was going to be difficult to get this company to back the 12 year warranty on this hot water heater. When I reported the problem I was having with this water heater it was only one and a half years old and still eligible for full no cost labor and parts coverage for the first three years as stated in the warranty verbiage. Rheem customer claim reps gave me a hard time about sending a plumber out to look at the tank and repair it. After asking to speak to a supervisor I was finally told she would send out a plumber and I would be notified by someone who would set up an appointment. I then get a call and was told they cant find any authorized Rheem plumbers in my area and asked if I would contact a plumber on my own and have the plumber fix the leaking tank if possible and send their bill to Rheem for reimbursement. I tried to find a plumber but none would come when I told them they had to submit their bill to Rheem for payment. I ended up fixing the tank myself with some help from a friend who is a plumber apprentice.I turned in a claim for $18.06 and this chincy company denied payment, unbelievable!!!! Imagine what the claim would have been if a plumber would have fixed the tank and for sure I would have been stuck with that bill!!! I notified Home Depot (where I purchased the water heater} Customer Service and they were appalled when I told them this story. I only notified them because I wanted Rheem to be reported for their extremely poor customer service and not fulfilling their warranty agreements. Home Depot is one of Rheems largest dealers of their products and did not agree with Rheems denial of this claim. They told me they were going to file a grievance against Rheem for the way this claim was handled and to show their appreciation of my loyal patronage sent me a $25 Gift Card. I will never buy a Rheem product again and will tell all every chance I get of this horrible experience. If you need a new hot water heater be very leery about buying a Rheem.Rick **

Purchased a Rheems Platinum hot water heater. A little after a year a leak developed and burnt out the control board. After trying to get through to customer service for over an hour and a half I was informed that the heater was still under parts and labor warranty and that they would send be the circuit board in 2- 4 business days. I asked if they could expedite it. Again I was put on hold until the shipping department picked up. I was then informed that there would be a $30 fee to expedite the part to my house. Does not seem fair that I would need to pay for a part that is defective and a direct result of Rheems poor manufacturing. I have a family of 5 without hot water and who knows when the part will arrive and when they can schedule a repair person to install the parts. I pleaded, with no avail, with them to just replace the hot water heater since there was no positive indication of where the leak is occurring. Looks like cold family showers for a while! Totally unfair and lengthy resolution.

I have a Rheem Water Heater and a valve went out. The service tech had to order a replacement part. After talking to the people from Rheem about my shipping information, I was told it would take 2-3 days to get the part. Okay fine. Then I get the FedEx notification and it is a week till the estimated delivery date. What happen to 2-3 days? I called the help number and come to find out that I could have overnight the stupid part for a small fee and had hot water in a couple of days instead of over a week, but the guy processing the order the first time failed to mention that option to me. Needless to say the part is now overnight but since it was a Friday afternoon it wont go out till Monday so when the thing finally comes in and can be installed it will be 5 days since the service tech got out there to begin with to get the hot water heater running. Seriously what are these people thinking, you as a homeowner dont want hot water in winter for more than a week.

My water heater failed and after contacting Rheem tech support they agreed that the unit needed needed to be replaced. No one in my region [including Rheem] had any replacements so Rheem told me to purchase one from Home Depot, which I did. After months of emails, submitting numerous copies of documents and hours of phone calls I received a check for 1/2 of the replacement unit value. Rheem informed me that the unit wasnt worth what I paid for it. My cost would have been the same from Rheem, Home Depot or a Rheem authorized dealer. Rheems lifetime warranty is a lie. Its a great water heater, but you would be better served buying a decent quality unit from another manufacturer. If I had known that they werent going to honor the warranty I wouldve bought a different brand.

We purchased 56 Rheem water heaters for our senior housing community in Eudora Kansas. 12 of the tanks have had failures within the first 4 years of service. None of the plumbing contractors want to work on the Rheem water heaters because they were purchased from Home Depot and are told that parts are not easily available. We are slowly switching out the tanks to another brand that was recommended by our plumbing contractor. We will no longer be purchasing any Rheem water heaters.

Purchased a 50 gallon Rheem electric hot water heater from Home Depot. Had a master plumber install the water heater. He thought all was working well. Never got any hot water. Plumber came back later to see what was wrong. Plumber contacted Rheem and explained what was going on with the water heater. Rheem told him it was defective and gave him a case number. They also told him a plumbing company in Maryland would handle checking out the heater to see if it could be repaired. By the way, I live in Georgia! Plumbing company in Maryland told my plumber they did not have a work order for my water heater. My plumber contacted Rheem at least ten times concerning the heater. Rheem could find the case number, but could never find any paperwork concerning my plumber contacting them. They put the burden on me by telling me to find a licensed plumber and having the heater repaired and then they would reimburse me. Is this the best they can do to stand behind their product? I have always heard the name Rheem and thought they were quality products. I will never buy Rheem products again. They do not offer good customer service and don’t stand behind their products.

Two months after purchasing three Rheem hot water heater on July 6, 2015, the water started smelling like rotten eggs in two of them. Contacted Home Depot where I purchased them. They told me the heaters were still under manufacturers warranty. I contacted Rheem numerous times via email on Rheems website and did not get a reply. Home Depot then gave me their number. Spoke with a representative who told me it was not their problem it was my water. I explained about the other heater that did not smell. She said I would have to purchase a chlorinator for each heater about $250 ea. and sent me an email with information where to buy them. I said it was the anode rods and they said that was not covered under the warranty. After that, a friend would flush the heaters with hydrogen peroxide and that would help until I went out of town. I was tired of asking him to do this so contacted Home Depot again on Jan. 8, 2017. This time they told me to call Asurion, the extended warranty I bought. That was a huge waste of time and money as they gave me the runaround too! After reporting Home Depot to the BBB, I was contacted and they contacted Rheem. Rheem called a plumber, told them to call me to call them to open a claim with them. I called Rheem and they told me the same thing they told me a year and a half ago. So Im back to square one.

We have had nothing but problems with our Rheem tankless hot water heater. Right now at this moment we are without hot water and have been so for almost 2 weeks now. Our unit is under warranty and needs to be replaced. Rheem did send us the vent kit, but no heater. We have called customer service. The first two ladies we spoke to were nice then we were transferred to another lady that was quite rude and absolutely no help at all. She told us that we need to contact the parts service department, our problem isnt HER problem. On the phone for hours with no results. Our plumber is at his wits end dealing with this company. We were told to go to Menards and purchase a new heater ourselves and Rheem would reimburse us for the cost. Yeah right! Rheem needs to send the unit, because I do not trust that they will reimburse us after all the trouble we have had getting anything out of them. We are still under warranty! We have company coming for Thanksgiving and no hot water! Im snapping and so sorry we ever went with Rheem. We are so disappointed in this company and the way they treat their customers. My advice to anyone considering a tankless, DO NOT BUY ONE FROM RHEEM!!!

We had to replace a gas valve within a year - it was $340. The water heater alone was about $380. We took good care of the water heater. There is no reason it should have went out. I called the 1800 number on the water heater (under it - it says not to remove or try to return it). The 800 number says it doesn’t exist or something along that line. I went into Menards and they told me Rheem now is who to call - even though it says Richmond - I called and was put on hold for warranties for hours - about 4 hours then I was told to fill out some forms - they would send them through email. I asked to wait on the phone until the emails come though I didn’t want to wait on hold again —- I was assured they would come in 10 minutes —— I waited 4 hours. The forms never came through - I called again. Was on hold a couple of hours once again to be told by the representative that the other representative never actually sent the forms - I told him, I’m not letting you go until you get me the forms - he acted extremely annoyed with me - they came through. It took forever. NOW I have no clue what will happen next - the process of a warranty sucks - sitting on hold forever sucks.... The whole experience is a night mirror - a water heater should last longer than 1 year. So pathetic. Their products should be recalled.

I bought a Rheem gas water heater and about 2 months later, it makes a loud popping noise and goes out. I call the company and they are rude with me. I have been on the phone back and forth with these people for 2 months and I still do not have hot water. The part they sent did not fix it. My plumber says its not fixable and needs to be returned, but apparently the company is going to go bankrupt if they let me return the water heater and will not give me a return code. I dont know how many things Im expected to do before they finally decide to give me the code. Im beyond frustrated. Im a single mom with cancer and its difficult for me to take my kids and I to someone elses house everyday to shower. If I had the money, I would trash the thing and buy another one (different brand) just so I wouldnt have to deal with this company anymore. I will definitely not be buying another water heater from Rheem ever and I will make sure everyone I know is aware of their lack of friendly customer service and a heart. I had completed construction of my new home in 2001 with a 40 gallon Rheem water heater. It lasted until mid year 2012 at which time it developed a leak in the side of the tank about half way down from the top. I was surprised that it only lasted eleven years when past experience was more like 20 to 25 years. I purchased a Rheem 50 gallon water heater on 6-20-12 and immediately experienced trouble with the lower element leaking. The plumber came out and removed the element, cleaned everything and put it back together with Teflon sealer. I notified Rheem, but no one ever returned my call. Yesterday, 11-27-17 I noticed water in the containment pan. I pulled the lower cover and found the lower element leaking again. I tried to reach Rheem customer service with no luck! I strongly recommend avoiding Rheem Manufacturing water heaters. Looking around on the internet, I am not the only one who feels this way. What a terrible company.

We had a Rheem Gas water heater that was continual problem. Rheem sent us new parts and the gas valve switch continued to be an issue. We paid for a plumber to come out twice. They then keyed the unit is unrepairable and had their service tech come out to replace the heater. I had to go to the Home Depot to exchange the water heater with them because I had purchased it. I was charged an additional $160.21 for the exact water heater unit because they said they price had gone up in the last year. I called Rheem and they said that it was not their issue and that I needed to follow the procedure for Home Depot. I had a Rheem water heater in my new house, only 3 1/2 years old. It ended up being defective and needing replacement. It was very difficult getting any assistance in replacing it. I found a plumber to assist with the installation. I found the wholesaler where my builder purchased the water heater. After 9 months dealing with the wholesaler, I finally was able to get a water heater. I paid the plumber $550.00 for installation, knowing that Rheem would likely cut me a check for this cost. Found out, Rheem was going to let me eat this cost. I would not have incurred this cost if it were NOT for a defective water heater. Our tankless water heater failed within the extended warranty time, no problem, we will just contact Rheem customer service and get them to send a new one. Paid $80 in shipping, installed the water heater, errors out with an ambiguous error code 13 while using water at a normal flow rate. Dozens of calls to Rheem customer service, they tell us we need to have gas guy come out and check our gas service. We have to pay $200 for that check of the service, and it turns out the service is fine. Call Rheem about their defective unit and advise gas is fine, they start their claim for sending another replacement unit, another $80 for shipping. We have not had hot water now for weeks and will be waiting for another week and a half for a new one to be installed. I started looking into the company to find out that, they have a TON of defective units out there and unfairly expect the customer to shoulder the burden of proof, and costs associated with shipping, inspection, and installation. Failure in 5 years and 10 Months and a 6-year warranty not honored: The Rheem water heater was installed when the house was finished in July 2006. The water heater failed in May 2012, having rusted through the bottom. The product was designed to fail shortly after the warranty date. Water heaters used to be considered durable goods, and that level of quality needs to be our expectation, given the nature and cost of the product.Rheem confirmed that the unit was still covered under warranty. However, the warranty terms and the procedure for replacement are unconscionable to the point where it would be more cost-effective to replace the unit at your own expense. So, we have a non-durable good and a difficulty to enforce warranty. Both of these conditions are illustrative of failure (and indicative of our national culture, which encourages corporate theft through planned obsolensce).I have sent a certified letter to Rheem on these issues and concerns. Lets see if the company will stand by its products. The reviews on this site and others dont give me much hope in this regard.

This is the 2 Rheem 360 gallon hot water heater model G65-360-1 that has leaked in less than 5 years. The 1st one lasted under 4 years but because Rheem only offers a 4 year warranty from date of manufacture not install we had to fork out $15,000 to have another heater installed Dec 2016. Going with the same model allowed for quick replacement which when your business is closed because of lack of hot water fast is best. Now 14 months later our heater that cost more than a small car is leaking. Rheem comment although they have agreed to replace the heater not sure yet if they are paying the $2000 install fee was that they very seldom have what they call a leaker. When I told them to look up the serial number of the one the new leaker replaced the agent claimed we are not having much luck with their heaters, we would send it back and put in a John Wood but Rheem wont give us a refund. Be aware they have problems. Avoid a Rheem or any of their other products. A Wood heater will last years without problems, ask your plumber before you buy not the experts at the Home Improvement stores. They are going to sell you what they make the most margin on. Not what is going to be the best.

I discovered that, on the lower element one wire was pushed onto the other contact during manufacture. I separated the two wires and everything was fine for about 2 weeks. Then I noticed the breaker tripped again, I reset it and about 3 min later I smelled electrical burning, we all know the smell. They will keep stalling on replacing your water heater until you give up and buy a new one because you need hot water. 12-year warranty tank, only 4 years old. Already had to replace the thermocouple 2 years ago. Second failure now only lets it give hot water for 1-2 minutes and its out. Since this was not my first bad experience with a Rheem heater customer support, I just went straight to a plumber. They told me the tank needs to be replaced. OK, next day I call support, they want me to check a couple things and get back to them, fair enough. Call back 2 days later, they have no record I ever called so we start the entire process again, and they decide to send me a new gas control valve even though the first person I talked to said that didnt fit the symptoms. 2 days later I get it, and install it. Still broken, call back again, by now its been a week without any hot water, and everyone in the house is pissed at me. They want me to run a water temperature test AGAIN for a third time, even though Im already well aware the water gets hot... it just runs out in about 2 minutes. They want to send me another gas control valve, even though I just installed a new one they sent me that day. Which I wouldnt get until Tuesday since its a Saturday. Refuse to allow me to trade it in for a new one, and the supervisor tells me its clearly a plumbing issue since the gas control valve was replaced and I checked the dip tube and its not cracked or broken. He tells me just like a water heater, parts can fail in plumbing. My copper pipes can fail somehow causing hot water to run out quick? With zero plumbing changes? Yeah, OK, they clearly are just coming up with any excuse possible to not give me a working water heater. At this point I need hot water, so I give up and go buy a Whirlpool. Hey, I have all the hot water I want now, turns out my copper pipes didnt break in a fashion that sucks the hot water up. Shocker, it was the water heater. $750 down the drain on a new water heater because their support refuses to actually help.

Replaced our water heater of 20 years with a Rheem because it was a good brand and has been around. It worked fine for a week and then the pilot went out. Re lit and 2 days went out again. Then it was going out every couple hours. I called Tech support with Rheem and said they would have a plumber contact me. Plumber came out and determined it was the main Gas control. Took 4 days to get the part and we installed it and still did the same thing. Called tech support again, they wanted us to take the burner assembly to check if something was tripped. If it was they would send another part out. We have been without hot water for almost two weeks. Im tired of the runaround and took it back to home depot for a refund. So disappointed with the whole situation. They could have overnighted the parts instead of waiting days for them.

Worked great for about 4 months. Then started throwing error codes and kicking off the compressor. So it would only run in electric mode, which is triple the operating cost. I contacted Rheem due to the warranty (be prepared to be on hold 40-60 mins each time), and was told they would send a contractor out. Well, 3 weeks later, I contacted them AGAIN since I had heard nothing, and was told that there were no contractors in my area so I had to do all the leg work to find a contractor who would diagnose it, pay them upfront and I would be reimbursed. Okay, so be aware that most plumbers will not TOUCH a hybrid water heater, whats less try to diagnose or repair it. I finally found one, submitted for the reimbursement (still have not been reimbursed), they sent a replacement control board, had to pay the contractor AGAIN up front to replace the control board (still have not been reimbursed for this second bill), which did not fix the problem.Today, I called Rheem AGAIN and was told that I have to uninstall the water heater myself, drag it back to Home Depot to get a warranty replacement, and pay another contractor up front to reinstall the new one. This has been the most horrible experience and horrible company Ive ever had to deal with for an appliance. When it works, its amazing, but this POS only lasted about 4 months and is not worth the stress or additional money you will have to pay to fix it once it stops working. DO NOT BUY!

We got a brand new water heater in 2017. Now in 2020 it stopped working over a month ago. We reached out to Rheem for a new thermocouple- per the machine error. It took several rude customer service representatives to get the part. Despite paying the extra 50$ to overnight the order, it did not arrive for two days. We had the plumber put in the new thermocouple and all was well....for a few days. Then a new error popped up high temperature sensor...a few rude Rheem calls later and another overnight (read: two days) package later, we get the part. Pay yet another plumber to put the part in and all is well...for a few days. The hot water stops again, the plumber comes yet again and the pilot light is three times as tall as it should be! Call some rude Rheem representatives and OH, they sent the WRONG PART AND WILL NOT BE COVERING THE PLUMBER INSTALLATION FOR THE WRONG PART THEY SENT!!?! Two days later and were still waiting for the overnight of the right part. Have never been more dissatisfied with a company and will NEVER purchase Rheem and will discourage EVERYONE I know from using.

I am not upset that a part went bad, I get it… things happen. The only reason I gave a second star was because everyone I spoke with was very polite and professional. What is disappointing is that Rheem does not consider my family having hot water for six day an issue. I am betting that the top brass at Rheem have not had to go through their warranty department for a repair, otherwise it would not be this way. Here is an account by date of what occurred afterward. DAY 1 - 12/5/2020: Water heater stops working so I call Rheem Warranty. I was told they were closed and call back tomorrow. DAY 2 - 12/6/2020: I call Rheem and get put on hold for 15 minutes... no problem. They answer and take my info and then transfer me to Warranty. I sit on hold another 30 minutes. They finally answer and we go through a series of Q&A to determine what needs to be done to fix my water heater. It is determined that I need a part and that they will ship it to me... Ok, no problem. I receive an email from Rheem stating the following: Thank you for contacting Rheem. A part has been submitted to the Parts department for processing. Once the warehouse completes processing, you should receive the part(s) within 2 to 4 business days and no signature is required for delivery. Additionally, You should receive an email with tracking information once the warehouse packages your part.Additionally, a request for labor coverage has been submitted to our Dispatch team for processing. You will either receive a call from our dispatch team with labor options or from an independent contractor in your area within 1 business day to setup an appointment. Labor coverage includes the repair or replacement of any part of the water heater due to defect in material or workmanship. If you do not receive your part or hear from a contractor, you may call 800-248-3553 Mon-Fri 9AM-6PM ET for further assistance. Here is where I have a problem... ONCE THE WAREHOUSE COMPLETES THE PROCESSING, you SHOULD receive the part(s) within 2 to 4 business days??? This did not exactly instill confidence that I was going to get hot water back anytime soon. I have six people living in my house… my wife and I, an elderly parent, three children and none of us are happy with the thought of waiting six to eight days with no hot water.DAY 3 - 12/7/2020: I do not receive a shipment notification, but I do receive a notification that I have been assigned a contractor to install the part once I receive it. I think to myself; I will get a little ahead of the curve by seeing it they have a part in stock and maybe, just maybe, they can get their part installed prior to Rheems part arriving. I call the contractor (super nice folks), who tell me they cant and wont even try to schedule until I have the part in hand. Disappointed.DAY 4 - 12/8/2020: No shipment notification by noon, so I call Rheem back to find out what is going on. I am back on hold for 20 minutes. Get transferred to the shipping department, wait on hold another 5 minutes. Nice lady tells me that my part has not been processed yet. I express my complete dissatisfaction with Rheem’s process, so she expedites the shipment (which costs $30) so I will receive the part the next day. I thank her and wait for the part to arrive. I receive a shipment notification that the part is being shipped and should arrive on 12/9.DAY 5 – 12/9/2020: Waiting for my part to arrive so I can call the contractor to install it. Based on my prior conversation with the repair guy, it will be another day or two to get someone out. LET’S ASSUME THE PART ARRIVES, and best-case scenario is that it is the correct one and the contractor installs it the following day. DAY 6 – 12/10: Contractor installs the part, and we all get to take a hot shower. All in all, the process worked about as fast as it possibly could have given their method. Which means that it could have easily taken a couple of day longer. HERE IS SOMETHING FOR THE OL SUGGESTION BOX AT RHEEM: 1. Create a few “Authorized Repair Centers” in each major metropolitan area. 2. Require them to stock some basic parts (like an ignitor switch or gas valve).3. Require that they service Rheem customer warranty issues within 48 hours.Problem solved… customer confidence instilled, Rheem’s good name installed! A happy customer is a return customer! RHEEM… 6 to 8 days is TOO LONG to wait for hot water! UPDATE: The part did arrive on time and the contractor scheduled us the following day.

Purchase gas water heater August 2020. May 2021 gas valve became faulty. They shipped one out (2-4 days) and finally had someone schedule to come out after 7 days with no hot water. They proceeded to tell me that the gas valves for this unit manufactured between April and October 2020 are faulty and are having all kinds of issues. I was assured that the one they replaced in May 2021 that the issue was fixed and I would not have this problem. Now it is December 2021 and the gas valve has broke again. Only now I no longer have a labor warranty and I have to pay out-of-pocket for that. They do not stand behind the product. Customer service is extremely rude and unhelpful and they do not care whether you’re out of hot water or not. All they do is make excuses. I will never purchased one of these again.

Rheem Marathon water heaters come with a lifetime warranty. A licensed plumber installed this water heater just under a year ago. The heater began making loud noises, like a metal object was hitting another piece of metal. I called the same plumber back to check on the noise. He examined the heater thoroughly and found nothing that would have caused this problem to arise. He asked me to call Rheem Customer Service to see if they could explain and offer a solution to the noise. (The noise has no relation to water use, time of day, or any other variable I could think of). My first call was answered by Lori, who asked for my serial number, then told me to adjust the flue baffle and that would eliminate the noise. She was in a hurry to get off the call. The electric Marathon has no baffle. My second call was answered by Valerie, who also took my serial number. I specifically told her the heater was electric. She then told me to take off the two covers on the front, determine which light was on when the noise occurred, then call her back with the information. I took off the covers to find that there are no lights. She was also interested in ending the call. My third call was answered by Nick, who apologized for the other two agents of Rheem, which he could see from the record of calls I had made previously. He suggested draining the tank to see if that would eliminate the noise. I asked the plumber about this and he stated that there would be no need to drain the tank given its age. So I am left with either calling Rheem yet again for what appears to be sketchy advise or learning to live with the noise.Rheems Customer Service seems to be time on the phone driven: when you get a trouble call, give some kind of answer and get off the phone as soon as possible. Not a good system to encourage customers to buy any Rheem product in the future. Their responses to my problem seem to treat the Lifetime Warranty as a mere piece of paper used as a sales aid only. Beware of Rheem products!

Rheem he80-130n commercial water heater - I own a restaurant in Phoenix and your water heater was nothing but trouble for me. Its a real hunk of junk. The unit was very expensive to begin with and was only 2 years old when the first igniter went out. Now, when the unit was 3 and a half years old, the igniter went out again and blew the main board. We replaced blown igniter again and blown board again. The plumber I had working on it said the unit was poorly designed. I cant believe what a hunk of junk this unit is. On top of that, I could not buy parts on the west coast. I had to have them shipped next day from Boston. It really is bad business to have a product that you cant even get parts for. A restaurant cant run without hot water, so it needs to be easy to repair. But to only last for 3 years and cost $6,000 is totally unacceptable. That I put $900 in parts and the unit still only worked for a couple of days is crap! So I had to take your unit out and replace it with another one, which cost me a lot of time and money ($5,000). It also caused my business to suffer from having to close kitchen because of your faulty product design. You would think for all that money this unit would work much better than it does. For the igniter to blow and destroy the motherboard, that’s a poor design. I believe your company should refund me part of the cost of the unit for it being such a piece of crap, or at least for the parts that I purchased and the labor to install them. Just an extremely unhappy customer!

So every time I have to reignite my water heater I add something to this comment. This is the 2nd water heater in 4 years, they replace the first one because it was fully covered. The new 2nd one lasted about a year and a half and started to have problems. I have received 1 head and sensor replacement due to 9 blinks. Paid to have some one professionally repair it. Now I am still out of hot water in December. Customer service is great but you have to wait on the line for 45 minutes. Just proves how much issues they are having with their products. They are sending another head replacement and sensory in case the first one they sent was a dud. Going to waste more money to have it install. Find another brand of water heater, Rheem seems to be living on their past quality and makes crap now.

I purchased a Rheem 50 Gallon Electric Hot Water Heater in September 2018 (almost three months ago). Its broken and I have no hot water. I called them and they sent a horrible service tech out to my house who could not fix it. Prepare to be on hold for long periods of time when you call Rheem. I wish I never bought this hot water heater and I hope others see my review so they can be saved the heartache, tears and stress that Ive been going through.
