Product Reviews:

I had a Bradford White hot water tank replaced after two years while under warranty. Unfortunately, after the plumbers reinstallation costs, I was out about the same amount as with the original installation. However the main problem concerns the temperature regulation. The temperature is too hot so I barely move the regulating valve and the temperature is too cool. Upon moving the regulator a minimal amount, the temperature is too hot. It is impossible to get a standard temperature. I would never recommend a Bradford White hot water heater.

Rheem Gas 50 Gal Hot water Heater - Installed 11/02/2013. In August 2014, pilot light started going out. It would re-light and heater would work for a few days. Then pilot would go out again. Repeated this scenario several times. Called installer who referred me to warranty service man. Fixed at no charge but I was told that it was going to fail again, and while the part would be free, a service charge would apply after 1 year of installation. Service man said it is a design flaw, probably caused by the "Closed Heating Chamber" and the unit was not getting enough ventilation. Corrosion from carbon monoxide damaged the thermal coupling and would re-occur. Rheem Customer Service offered no advice or help.

Direct replacement for my original…which lasted 29 years. The installation instructions leave a bit to be desired...

Note that most of the complaints are about gas water heaters, but the electric water heaters don't seem to be much better. Mine, barely made 4 yrs old and both elements and thermostat went. Had plumbers in for estimates in to repair - much cheaper to install a new one (No...not a Whirlpool!). Very disappointed in the product.

The water heater is okay, not too shabby. I like how it warms up the temperature. It feels great. I like it very much and could not live without it, but I dislike that it's bulky and old school looking.

The installation was a lovely and simple process. I did not do much of anything, just stood around in my robe while some strapping young men installed it for me. Afterward, I gave them lemonade. I do rather like the fact that it had "Eco" in the name. I attempt to live a fairly environmentally friendly lifestyle and this helps me feel like I'm adding to that goal. However, the water from this heater does not seem to get very hot. Perhaps that could be based on user error, but I have altered settings and it doesn't ever seem to get quite as toasty as I would like it to. Overall it has been a fairly decent experience. It has performed its job adequately, if not impressively, though that could be due to the capacity or possibly due to user error, as if I would ever admit that.

My 8-month-old Rheem water heater GUSHED all 40 gallons that were in the tank. I called Rheem and was told I was not covered because their warranty begins when THEY manufacture it, NOT when you buy, install it! I asked the less than professional "customer service" rep how I would know it was manufactured and with a snicker, she said, "Oh, you wouldn't." I spoke with 4 people throughout the day, each with a different explanation. They emailed me about doing a "leak test" which only flooded my utility room A 2ND TIME! Never, never, buy another Rheem water heater again. They are obviously poorly made, and their customer support is worse!

I bought a 58 GAL Electric American Water Heater 6 YEAR in 2006 and it's still going strong. Best Water Heater I have ever had. I need to retrofit so I thought I'd put in a replacement because the heater is way past its shelf life even though it works as new. Current health makes me want to get it installed now so I don't have issues in the near future. I am searching for the same Heater that is NEW 2016. Best Water Heater Ever. I'm scared to get something made in China. All You people who are complaining must be doing so about a GAS Heater. BIG difference. Please be specific.

I bought a new B. White tank, and gas flow valve, which were defective within 1 month of purchase. B White is trying to charge me $450.00 repairs to replace gas valve.

12/16/19 paid 2600.00 for Rheem water heater - now 1/2/20 and we still have no hot water. Rheem was to send replacement part on 12/19/19 - we didn’t receive until 12/31/19. That part installed and still not working. Now Rheem sending another replacement part. Rheem will NOT replace this brand new unit as long as they can keep sending replacement parts!! This is not acceptable but they do not care how long we have been without hot water!
