Product Reviews:

Just had a technician from the local Carrier Dealer inspect my inside unit. He informed me that the fan motor controller was malfunctioning and that it had to be replaced or it along with the fan motor. The unit is not yet 10 years old and this is ridiculous for it to not last any longer than this. I have already paid a couple hundred dollars for a capacitor coil that failed early this year. The local dealer discontinued installing the unit that I have due to too many failures and problems with the variable speed fans and controllers. Now I am faced with $1100 repairs not counting the labor due to a very inferior product. I would not recommend Carrier to anyone and especially the heat pump. Very weak components and will fail leaving high cost repairs and lost of use.

I purchased the "extended warranty" through our local One Hour Heating and Air (now out of business). This covered a total replacement installation in 2009 of: a Furnace/Coil downstairs; heat pump/air handler unit upstairs; two outdoor units. Evaporator coil sprung a leak last week and I checked my warranty online and on the phone w/ Goodman and they confirmed my coverage for parts and labor. Called one of their authorized "Asure" techs and he came out and told me the coil wasn't covered.Everything (all serial numbers for furnace, heat pump/air handler, two outdoor units) was covered and registered EXCEPT, they had "no record" of the serial number for the coil. They all start with similar #s (0905, 1001) yet that one serial number for the coil isn't among what they have. I'm beyond angry, especially after reading that that's the part that may have been defective upon install!! *sigh* They said the only recourse I had was to present them with a RECEIPT from 2009 showing that coil on there! After confirming the furnace was covered online, I didn't even consider keeping the receipt. Lesson learned there, I suppose. I will be calling them back today and try and dig a bit deeper. This is ridiculous.

I bought a new Xi15 heat pump and furnace on 16 Jul 09 and the thing hasn't worked right more than a few days at a time since I bought it. I had to have gas serviced two times since install--the first time was just days after the annual service was done and nothing was found wrong. The first time, the tech didn't have enough gas and said that he'd be back (yep, he came back the next year for the service and had to fill it again). I had the annual service done in July and ran the AC for two days. I just decided to turn on the heat a couple of days ago and it didn't work again. Every time I turn the unit on, after a couple of months, it doesn't work. It's an $8,700 piece of **.The tech came out Friday again and said that the fan motor is bad and said that it will be $328.75 labor to replace--should take all of an hour. Anyway, I'll never do business with Dick's or Trane again. Mike **, the sales guy, lied about the warranty and Dick's tried to scam me on the annual service that was free. Trane doesn't even want to discuss the issues and refers me back to Dick's so they carry the same reputation in my book. I am just sorry that I went way out of my way to help Trane get cutting edge technology from my own company. I should have thrown them the same bone, but I'm not like that.

Previous home owners spent a good $5,600 on this Trane unit from what I have always heard was the BEST! Installed in 2012, we moved in in 2015. Since winter of 2015 it's been non stop issues! All issues has come from the air handler. Since 2015 we have spent a good $2,000 in fixing part after part. Now December 2019 after just spending $600 on it back in October, we are now being told it's another $1400 to replace the coil! So far Trane isn't assisting with any of the costs although this unit isn't old at all and we have had issue after issue! We won't be putting more money into this pos we plan to just replace with a carrier unit!

Bryant furnace installed in 2007 by certified installer and looked great. A couple of months back I noticed the plenum was bent and distorted with the seams opened up. Have had three "authorized service technicians" tell me they have never seen this occur before but deny any furnace malfunction. Bryant customer relations directs me to contact the Better Business Bureau to complain...really? I have been told my concrete floor "heaved", my floor joists dropped, or the installer caused the damage. Unit looked fine when installed but it has lifted about 4 inches and destroyed the plenum. Anyone else ever seen something like this?

Last Spring 2016, I had a contractor install air conditioning in my 2 story house beach house. It was not possible to run ducts on the first floor so Fujitsu ductless was installed and works beautifully. Unfortunately, on the second floor I had central air conditioning installed and paid additional to upgrade to the Ruud brand. Big Mistake! The contractor had problems upon problems with the equipment. Because the equipment did not work, the compressor had to be installed twice and the coil/air handler needed to be installed three times. In summary, the contractor wasn't happy with all the time he spent and wasn't paid for and the installation wasn't finished until mid summer ruining my summer.

Bought a "state of the art" Infinity series heat pump in November 2007 and yesterday December 31st 2013 was told the compressor was shot. I too have the 10 years parts & labor so a new compressor will be paid for, BUT the service tech calls me to his truck and pulls out this paper and tells me how this compressor is a huge piece of crap and there are thousands of issues with these things and his office will be in touch on spending ANOTHER $1500 or more to get another "state of the art" outside unit he named "Green Speed"... I am still waiting to hear back from my dealer. I totally understand with it being New Year's Day having to wait a few days, but to spend over $5,000 in 2007 and be told, while still under warranty" you need to spend $1,500 more for another outside unit is a joke...

I had a 95% AFUE GMH95 gas furnace installed in June of 2009. Furnace carries a 10 year parts warranty. In 2015 the inducer pump melted and caught fire. I had the Installation company come out to see this. Was told there was too much damage to replace parts and cables burned. Would need to be replaced. I filed a claim with customer assurance and continually hounded them for the status of this claim. A month later with temperatures now below freezing a representative from distributor and the installer came out to see damage which I already had sent picture to Goodman. Was told I would be notified next Monday. Another week goes by. No word. E-mailed customer assurance rep. for my case and received out of office reply with a phone number to call for assistance. I basically got the run around. A week later I tried again and also left voicemail. I finally called Goodman consumer affairs and spoke with a live person. After explaining the situation and the fact that my representative is not responding for over a month now I was then transferred to the same customer assurance rep. and listened to the same OGM telling me to call consumer affairs. Yes, a complete circle. It seems they just want to avoid this issue. So I called again and got a different live person who said "Hold on I need to check something" and was immediately disconnected. Now I feel I should let others know about the worst customer service experience that I have ever been through. So much for the 10 year warranty.

I recently installed Carrier Performance 96% efficiency gas furnace. It gives me more trouble than comfort. This furnace is way louder than my old 30 year old furnace. The fan motor seems to have two speeds, the noise level of the lower speed is acceptable but when it is in high speed, the noise suddenly turns extremely loud. It is so loud that it often disrupts your sleep especially when the heat kicks in. I paid so much for this furnace and it does not give me the comfort I expected. This furnace is not as advertised as a high-quality brand.

I’ve owned my Rheem furnace for ever since I bought my house. Ever since I purchased it, it has never given me any problematic issues. It has been quite reliable and for the same reason, I decided to get my parents a furnace similar to mine since theirs was giving them so many problems and incurring to many repair costs.
