I do repair work. I was called out to help because a family had issues and their plumber was busy. I replace, on average, one hot water tank a month. Warranty is not what they claim at the store. The tank was manufactured in July 2010 with a 6-year replacement warranty. But when you call, you need to pay to have their service person come out to verify the problem. The earliest appointment is June 6th. This is Tuesday (almost 1 week from Memorial Day). Towel test was done to verify no leaks around fittings including the elements. The tank is defective. I was transferred to 5 different people (90 minutes on phone until the rude, older person and I got disconnected). Their response: We know it is not right, but we could fit you in the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Everyone agrees they are sorry and they would not want to be without hot water, but "should I make you the appointment for you or can I help with anything?" Really **. So I want everyone, when they need a hot water tank, to run to Sears.

Purchased 9/23/2013 on 5/20/2014 no hot water. Called Whirlpool, unit has a 6 yr warranty. Brian advised me no one close to our area to service. He told me to contact a local plumber, they would pay for parts and $75.00 in labor. I attempted a couple of calls and could not find a plumber that was willing to come out and let us pay just the difference, after parts and $75.00 in labor and them bill Whirlpool for the remainder. They wanted between $225.00 and $300.00 plus parts. Lowes where we purchased the water heater told me to call Whirlpool back and get an RA# and they would be happy to exchange the water heater. I called Whirlpool and they (Leigh) refused but did say they would pay 200.00 in labor plus the cost of parts. The unit was only $231.23, but they would rather pay upwards of $300.00 than just let us get a new one. I asked Leigh if this made sense to her, she said it did. I guess I'm just ignorant because it doesn't make sense to me. Whirlpool COULD NOT even find a plumber that would come out to our small town to do repairs under their OUTSTANDING WARRANTY. I have laughed at these people and cried over this whole situation. I can honestly say I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool product and will let everyone I know and even some I don't know (lol) how horrible this experience has been.

We purchased the Whirlpool model# BFG1J4040T3NOV 40 gallon natural gas hot water tank in the spring of 2010. The pilot light went out this weekend, 2011. And it will re-light but does not stay lit. This was bought at Lowe's, rated as a 9-year warranty on the tank and parts. This is premature failure of a product that is listed as 9 years. Due to all the other similar complaints of this Whirlpool hot water tank, I would like my money back plus installation. I do not want the Whirlpool replacement as obviously it does not work. I will use a different brand and vet it much better in the future. We almost purchased at Home Depot but decided it would be a better bet to go with the Whirlpool reputation and name and Lowe's than with the only Home Depot option, which is the self branded water heaters. It was a big mistake!

I just installed the Stiebel Eltron Tempra 29 Plus hot water heater and tested it at 110F degrees. It was able to run 2 showers and 3 faucets full blast with water pretty hot. I also tested the same at 115F and it was as hot as I'd want to touch. There was no reduction in flow. This little guy is great! Approximate Install Cost: 1. Unit: $700 - I bought this in Sept 2017. 2. Plumbing: $100 - I installed myself. Materials cost only. It took be about 5 hours. 3. Electrical: $300 - Electrician installed 3 x 40 Amp breakers (total draw of device is 120 Amps max) in my box (which had space). My total house service is 200 Amps. It took him about 3 hours. I know the electrician through a mutual connection, so he might have given me a deal.

February 2nd Sears techs came out 5 times to check the water heater. They replaced the gas valve, thermopile, and we replaced a 3/8 gas line to a 1/2 inch. They claimed it was low gas pressure afterward.P. G.&E checked. It is 9.0wc. 10 blink cont. And they still have not replaced it. We still have no hot water. It is less than 1 year old purchased June 2015.

I have rental units and replaced old water heaters with American ProLine Plus 12 year Water Heaters with Flame Guard. I have had nothing but trouble with them. And I have had to deal with rude, incompetent "service people" who were recommended by American to repair their water heaters. I had one service call in which they finally agreed to replace the unit. The new one fell off the truck and was crushed in on the bottom. I had to argue with the guy not to install it as he tried to persuade me that it was fine. I have had thermocouple problems like crazy. One time they put the wrong one in, another they didn't realize the thread was opposite and cross threaded it. Another time the heater stopped working again. The new service person said the replaced thermocouple was the wrong one for the model. Another time when the service person tried to work on the unit and had big hands, he just peeled back the metal on the unit at the pilot controls so he could work easier! That was on the new replaced unit! It was endless. All the while the tenant has no hot water! That was just one of the units I had. The other one was on thermocouple #3, 5 years into a 12-year warranty. When the repairman and I went on the roof to see if the vent pipe might be clogged and shutting down the unit, there were 12" flames coming out of the pipe that vents the water heater! And that unit was on the first floor of a 2-story building! Flames were shooting up through the venting pipe to the 2nd story! We disconnected the unit and removed it from the apartment. I put in a tankless unit which takes no room at all and has been trouble free. To add insult to injury, when I called American ProLine, they were rude, gave me the runaround, suggested it was my fault (not installed properly), and refused to refund me anything for the 7 years left on the warranty. All they would offer me was another water heater. That’s incredible since the American Water Heater nearly burned my entire property to the ground. Their product is unreliable and dangerous.

Have to replace a Kenmore water heater purchased at Sears. It's still under warranty so no big deal. Even if it wasn't under warranty, I wouldn't be upset with having to replace it because it's 8 1/2 years old. What is frustrating is when I called the warranty number, I was told by the rep that a repairman will be coming TODAY between 1-5 pm and will call 30 minutes before arriving. I asked specifically if he said today and was told yes.At 4:40, when I did not receive a call, I called the warranty number again and was told the work order by the first rep stated the appointment is set for Oct. 12th. Based on Sears practice of setting a four-hour timeframe for a repairman to come to the home, it is my opinion they are not customer friendly. Because they failed to have the repairman here today as I was told, they have lost my future business.

Tankless water heaters save you a lot in energy bills, fit into small spaces, and are built to last longer. This makes them advantageous than the traditional water heaters. Bosch tankless water heaters are some of the best in the industry, offering premium features like better performance, better durability, and Wi-Fi connectivity, too.

We moved into our home in January 18, 2018, and the first bill we got from Reliance was on January 26, 2018. This bill was for over $400 and included charges for 2017 and a significant late payment charge. I assumed whoever started our account just accidentally put the wrong year in but when I called the person was so incredibly rude but assured me that the charges were fixed. Over the next couple of weeks I was harassed by daily multiple phone calls with a message saying that we owe a significant late payment and that if we did not pay our names would be sent to a collections agency. I called again and they assured me to ignore these phone calls and that they would waive the "late fees" that kept being added to our account. Then we get a "final notice" in the mail for $120 dollars and when I called again to ask about this the lady said that they had been leaving messages about this concern for weeks and that we had significant late fees again. This happened a few times, where we would have ridiculous charges considering we were just renting a water heater. I would call and the person on the other hand told me everything was fixed, only for the next month to be a another ridiculous fee (plus late fees). The final straw was we finally thought we had everything figured out, and then in April we get a bill under my father-in-law's name with an information package about opening a new account. I don't even know how they got his name but it was our account number, and the worst part was that the customer service representative couldn't explain how/why it happened either. So I called and canceled the service and they came to pick up the water heater May 7, 2018. HOWEVER we still kept getting bills! At first I ignored them because they were for like $7 but today I got another significant one and when I called they were like "Oh you wanted this fee canceled too?". Also, every time I called over the months of dealing with them I demanded to speak with a supervisor/manager, and NO ONE would connect me to one. There was even one woman that I refused to give her any more answers until I spoke to a supervisor and she just transferred me to a different department. This company has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I am hoping that our ties are now permanently cut with them.
