Carrier heat pump problems cooling issues. Too mad to write about it. Unit less than 2 years old and broken down already. I want to join with Melanie from VA in a class action lawsuit.

My father and I both got the Whirlpool Gold gas furnace 3 seasons ago. I can't tell you how happy we both are! Our heating bills plummeted; the unit is quiet and does a fantastic job. I am 50 and I have to admit this is in the top 5 of the best purchases I ever made. For me to take the time to find a place to write a review 3 years later should be testament to how happy I am. Make sure you have it professionally installed! Don't skimp here…this is the key!

Installed Amana in new home in 2013 and have had to replace air handler twice, so I am on my third in six years. Warranty fortunately covered leak in coil twice, but the labor has cost me thousands of dollars. Since the handler is obviously a defect by Amana- I wrote a nice letter asking for some relief on the labor explaining the situation. Never heard back and obviously they don't care-even if they told me no. I rarely write reviews, they're lucky to get one star. Would look seriously at another company.

After a search of all the local AC repair shops, I called this one, because it was the only one that had a review from an Elite Yelper. Basically all the other locals have a lot of reviews, and a lot of positives, but the accounts are suspicious, with few friends and only a handful if not only 1 review. Northern Continental was the first with some believable and useful comments. So I set up an appointment online and was immediately contacted by Tess, to share more info and set a date and time. Tess was patient and helpful and was able to answer many of he preliminary questions I had. Based on this experience, the business felt legitimate and worth proceeding further. Eric came to the house as scheduled. He diagnosed the capacitor and fan motor in about 10 minutes. He walked me through the why's and how's and gave me options and fair prices. The cost came up very fair, based on my researching local competitors. Eric was professional, polite, knowledgeable, customer focused, and he got the job done in less than an hour. I would highly recommend this company to the local community.

7 year old Carrier furnace. Fired up the furnace this morning and a terrible screech from the inducer motor/blower. Figured the bearing failed, but hey, it can happen. Then the repairman came and said they had to replace the inducer assembly and get this, OVER $1000 for the job! This is absolutely unacceptable predatory pricing. I either replace the furnace with a better brand (Goodman) or I bite the bullet and pay the ransom for this Carrier. I'll never buy another Carrier furnace.

After numerous research for the best gas furnace regarding price and performance finally settled for this model. I met a contractor who took me through all the specifications of this model and then installed the unit for me. My experience with Heil has been great, and I would buy this brand again and again. I have had my f for five years now, and no single repair plus the unit runs without the noise, you can barely hear it or notice whether it’s functioning or not. You know what he was right; I haven’t had a problem with mine for years.

After 5 years my Payne heat pump unit is almost completely rusted away. Even though there is a 10-year warranty "rust" is not covered by them. Payne customer service said they couldn't help me but I could call their parent company who owns Payne, Carrier, and Bryant. Of course United Technologies ignored all attempts to contact them and obviously it is the protocol for these hvac manufactures to have someone call the corporate office because they know there will be no response. Bad product. Bad customer service.

11/3/10: Burgors Always Dependable, (Pul drain not while); customer said that unit will run then furnace will go off. But not go on. Cleaned fuse off. Cycle unit a few times. Drain cleaned too, unit is running fine, filter ok too. Paid $100.00.11/15/10: Burgors Always Dependable, was here 4-6 times in the last two weeks do to furnace; will run fine for about 8-10 hours then furnace will go off and customer will reset switch on furnace. Service man did check; sensor cleaned, burner box check, salt test check passes at this time. Replace start, drain box cleaned and check to ok replace switch at limit box burner and will check heat exchange too. (Cycle Ok too!) Crack in heat exchanger not safe to run unit replace limit in burner box. Service man not know about 3 times. Customer was resetting furnace switch. Paid $150.00.Somewhere in here, Burgors tried to get me to give him $800 for the new heat exchange, I found out it is under warranty from Carrier and didn't go through him b/c Mechanical Heating and Cooling said I wouldn't have to pay the 800 b/c carrier will reimburse them.11/18/10: Mechanical Heating & Cooling, no heat replaced heat exchanger, also bad igniter system tested and running fine at this time; heat exchange under warranty. Paid $319.00. This is the bill I dispute b/c they charged me $111 for a rush fee without any knowledge of it being a rush fee or option to have it on a rush bases.11/19/11: Mechanical Heating & Cooling, No heat; furnace running upon arrival, let complete cycle, checked past fault codes 12 blower on after power up ran through several cycles running OK at this time, also flushed trap. Check incoming power connections, all Ok. Paid (n/c considering they were just there the night before).11/26/11: Mechanical Heating & Cooling, found furnace tripped on high temp limit, reset checked coil very dirty customer cleaned checked capacitor ok ,temp rise ok 46; cut hole in return in basement, cycled unit running ok at this time. Paid $89.00.After all this, Mechanical Heating & Cooling are now telling me that the venting system must not be the right size; seems to me that if this were true then why did my system run for approximately 6 yrs with no problems. Problems just now occurring; I spoke to _______ from Carrier and he stated that this is not uncommon; Well then if that is true, then why was the Venting for the system not properly installed? Wouldn't it still be Carriers fault since they installed it?

I purchased a home in September 2012 and learned that the A/C unit was not working (found out on the day I closed). I advised seller that I would not move forward with purchase if I had to replace a major appliance like an A/C unit. Seller agreed to replace and I agreed to replace furnace portion of package to avoid a greater cost should the furnace not work. I started noticing the A/C heating up at certain parts of the day and thought I needed to readjust thermostat. After several days of increasing temperatures during the day I decided to call a service technician only to learn that I had no refrigerant in my system. Further investigation showed a leak in the coil. I called the company who installed and they said the part was no longer under warranty and that the warranty was only for 1 year. I decided to call the service technician back and advised him what the installing company said and he advised me that the part that is not working is under warranty and that Trane is aware of the defect with the type coils they use. So the part was definitely under warranty. It turns out that the Tech was correct and Trane provided the coil at no charge, however, I was stuck with a $575.00 labor charge for a unit that is only 2 years, 10 months old. While I am pleased with the work that the Tech did on the unit and how quickly he came to repair and how thoroughly he cleaned up the area after he completed the work, I immediately changed my servicing company. If Trane is aware of this defect, why are they allowed to keep selling a piece of equipment (part) that is obviously defective when they know it is going to fail? While they do not make money off selling the part it still costs consumers "labor cost" - in my case, $575.00. My "dissatisfied rating" is because Trane knowingly sells this defective merchandise that would cost consumers huge labor costs in such a short time. How can they do this?
