This is not a complaint but a love-letter. I know that today's "Maytag Neptune" is not the Maytag of old. But I'm here to report that I'm still using a Maytag washer that was built in 1982! The only thing "wrong" with my machine is that it occasionally goes off-balance when I wash heavy towels or blankets. Note: We "inherited" this machine with the purchase of a home in 1991. We were a family of 6, so this machine has done many heavy loads! I'm looking forward to celebrating my Maytag's 30th birthday, come Jan. 1, 2012. I purchased the top of the line Steam Front Loader approx. 3 years. ago. My wife and I are the only two that have used this washer, so it was taken care of and cleaned after every wash. I am a Machinist and work on much larger machines, so I know my medals. My wife put a normal size load in and the machine started shaking and smoking. We turned it off and opened the door and smoke filled the room. I contacted LG and explained it to them. They told me to take the machine apart and send them pictures. I did. Man was I shocked to see the cheap metal they use in their machines. It was so corroded, rusted, and full of mildew. When I went to pick up the part it broke into, in my hand. I didn't use any force on it whatsoever. With the RPM these machines put out, if we would have left it on, and it broke someone would have been badly hurt or even worse. I learned my lesson from LG. They do not service what they sell, they don't return phone calls, they will lie to you in a heartbeat. I also learned to read reviews before I purchase again... NEVER ANOTHER LG. We had this washer 16 months. We bought it new from Home Depot. The clothes came out with spots on them, white residue and grease spots. This was ongoing for awhile. The bearings went out after 6 months. It was so loud now the water pump went out. I was told by Whirlpool (they bought out Maytag) that water pump is on back order and could take a couple of months!! To fix the bearings and the water pump was almost 700.00. A new washer is 1000.00. We junked it and had to buy a new washer GE. We are sick about this waste of money!!! What a piece of JUNK this Maytag Bravos XL is!! We need to have a class action suit and try to get something back. This is ridiculous and they aren't taking responsibility. It does a good job at cleaning my clothes as well as helping take the smell out. I use this washer all the time, and I'd buy it again. I would highly recommend to anyone. It has a very large interior, and I can fit all of my clothes inside it. It is utterly amazing! I never have to do more than 2 loads of all of my clothes, ever. It is a very sleek design. I like the front load because you can watch the clothes spin. It fits nicely, and the white color fits in with its surroundings very well. It is worth every penny. The one time I did have to call for a problem, it was obvious that the person was reading from a script. They could not offer any help or answer my questions. My Kenmore washer has been the best washer I have had so far. The washer has done an excellent job and I am very happy with it and would recommend it to all of my friends. My Kenmore washer has been very reliable so far and has not needed any repair or fixing so far. It can fit all my and my family's clothes and stuff. My Kenmore washer has a decent appearance... It looks like every other washer out there that you can buy. It is not anything fancy or stainless steel but it does its purpose.
