This correspondence is in regards to an erratic and dangerous Trane service vehicle my daughter and I encountered Friday morning (2/12/2016) at 6:30 AM on US 290 at West 43rd in Houston, Texas. I was in the process of taking my daughter to school, the Duchesne Academy in the Memorial area, when we came upon a stalled vehicle in the right lane on the US 290 eastbound main lanes. As usual, the drivers in the adjacent middle lane took turns allowing vehicles from the blocked right lane to merge in. When it came our turn to shift over, the next vehicle intentionally speeded up to block our vehicle from merging in. When it became evident that our vehicle had already moved over before the van could cut us off, the vehicle behind us swerved into the left lane, accelerated past us, got in front of us and slammed on his brakes. For the next two miles the Trane driver continued to slam on his brakes, attempting to cause an accident.Although my daughter and I were not able to get the license plate for the vehicle, we did get the company name plastered all over the vehicle - Trane HVAC Services - Hunton Distribution, Unit 210. In having dealt with Trane personnel elsewhere in the country, I was always impressed with their courteous attitude and professionalism. Needless to say, my family and I are disappointed with the irrational and antagonistic Trane staff we've encountered in Houston to date. Presuming the driver of Hunton Distributions Unit 210 is representative of their staff in Houston, we will certainly think twice before having this service company work on our residential Trane units.

We built a new home with Schalmo Builders (Canal Fulton, OH) three years ago. We trusted their expertise in selecting a quality, reliable HVAC system for us. They chose a Carrier unit, and it’s been nothing but constant problems, breakdowns, costly service calls (with no resolution), run-around answers, fights & battles, hot summers with NO AIR, and winters with unbelievable heating bills due to our Carrier unit’s inability to properly switch from standard heat to very expensive “emergency heat.” Our condenser was replaced after less than one year. We’ve had more than a dozen service calls on the unit during the past three years. We are currently waiting for a replacement blower motor that has been on order for weeks now and is not due to arrive until mid October. We’ve been without air the entire summer (2019) due to our unit constantly blowing fuses. We’ve paid $600 in labor to replace all different kinds of Carrier parts that did not fix the issue. We have a parts warranty which is a joke because of expensive labor costs to fix a unit that is only three years old. Our builder will not admit that they gave us a terrible HVAC unit that we will most likely need to replace, saying their hands are tied. That’s reputable. BUYER BEWARE of complete junk Carrier units!

I purchased my home early this year and the house is less than 5 years old with two Trane Air Conditioner units. I received a 1-year buyer's warranty for the house as part of the sales contract. As the summer heat started, we noticed the air conditioners were not working well. We contacted the warranty company for service. After a couple of checks including freon refill, they finally found out that there is a leakage in the main unit and the evaporator coil needs to be replaced. They said the unit is still under manufacturer warranty and asked me to directly contact Trane to receive a new evaporator coil and the warranty company agreed to follow up with the labor. I reached out to Trane but they said my warranty expired because I had to contact them within 90 days of purchasing the house. I have explained to them that I was never informed by anyone about this requirement, and I even did not know the brand of my air conditioner until there was a problem with it, but they did not accept. That is totally unreasonable, how can a home buyer know about this rule? This is just a way for them to get away from their warranty duties. I hope this review will help some people to know about this rule so that they can reach out to transfer the warranty within 90 days.

2012 1st year water dispenser stuck, would not stop pouring water until I shut water valve off behind refrigerator. Replaced switch under warranty. 1st year bottom mount freezer stopped working, replaced condenser under warranty. Handle coming off freezer door not replaced. Today Nov 5th past warranty date Oct. 21st 2012. There is ice buildup in bottom of freezer due to a duckbill valve that I just found out about... This is junk and I already replaced the washing machine. Now I am going to replace this fridge if I have to have money to fix this out of pocket. Don't buy whirlpool and i think they make the same thing under other brands like Kitchenaid. My fridge was registered with whirlpool and no one contacted me from whirlpool about the problem they were aware of, to tell me that the valve is free and labor was free for first two years. Now only part is free. What a rip off. My appliances were part of the purchase price of a new home from a developer.

In July of 2012 I purchased a Goodman System for my Condominium in Ossining New York. I was a little skeptical because I had never heard of Goodman but was assured it was made by Amana and was a good, reliable brand and somewhat less expensive than the "name" brands. I was told by the company that installed it that it had a good warranty... 10 years in fact so not to worry. I had routine maintenance done on schedule and in April of 2018 began having trouble with the A.C. Serviceman repaired and recommended a new thermostat system which I had done. Three months later the system failed again. Noticed some "ice" buildup on copper pipes around unit and some water on the floor. Serviceman replaced filter and cleaned outside condenser. One month later FAILED again and now told by repair service the condenser coil is no good. He said, "Don't worry. It's covered under warranty..." Until three hours later when Goodman told him the unit was not registered and they would not honor the warranty. Now I have the bill of sale with all documents and serial numbers yet they are telling me that I had to send in the postcard to have it registered. It's a damn 7000 unit... Like a car. I said... "You don't send in postcards for cars do you?" I went round and round with Goodman NON CUSTOMER SERVICE and decided to try to reach a supervisor. THEY KEPT TELLING ME THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. Well I called the corporate office and asked to be connected to the CEO a Mr. Ebisu's secretary. Lo and behold I was connected to a woman named K.D. ** (Write that down folks. K.D. ** is the secretary to the CEO.) I started to explain my issue and she was trying to put me back in touch with customer service... But I convinced her to listen to the whole story (the same complaints that many of you have mentioned in these reviews) after a good 10 minutes she assured me that the head of Consumer Complaints a Mr. Preston ** would be working on my case and that she was sure he would help in the matter. She even went so far as to tell me that she was instructing him to get back to me within 2 hours with a resolution. Well... he called back and was ABSOLUTELY NO HELP AT ALL. In fact he said to me... "You were never supposed to get put through to Ms. ** office." I was and I intend to make sure that both of their names are out in public so that people will know who they are and how little they care about customer service.Tomorrow, I am having a new unit installed at a discount price from TRANE which is a REAL COMPANY that backs its products. My service company was so mad at Goodman that they are eating the labor cost to install the new system. They discounted the price by 2600 DOLLARS and a 4500 price tag is now down to under 1700 which is less than the part that Goodman wanted to send me. STAY AWAY FROM GOODMAN... Tell your friends to stay away from Goodman and if anyone has a class action suit going count me in. Please call Ms. ** and Mr. ** and give them.

We have a top of the line Carrier Infinity heat pump put in place in 2014. It was installed by an authorized installer who has been installing Carrier systems for 45 years. The unit is supposed to be state of the art and cost over $10K. But in 2015, one year after it was put in place, the system broke down in the summer and a motor had to be replaced. Now in 2016, second year after the installation, the system broke down again and another motor has to be replaced. And it takes more than 10 days to order the motor in today's world when everything you order from Amazon can arrive in 2 days. When I called Carrier to file a complaint, the lady I spoke with was supposed to be a senior level rep, and she was even more disappointing. Please note, I wasn't even asking them for anything. My repairs are covered by a service policy I already had. I just wanted to let them know my frustration as a consumer, and I think given the good reputation I have heard about Carrier, you would think how their customers are feeling about their quality and service. Well, this lady blamed everything on distributors and installers, and said Carrier provides 10 year parts warranty and that's all they can do. She basically said "Why are you wasting my time by calling me." without using those words.Well, for a state of the art system such as Carrier Infinity, you probably wouldn't expect to shut down for 2 weeks every year in the hottest days of the summer. And you would probably expect Carrier to care more about the quality and service experienced by their highest paying customers. I need to replace another old HVAC system soon and I never thought I would get anything other than Carrier. Now I will look into what other competing products are out there.

Never worked proper form the start, always condensation, bottom froze and top unthawed and vice versa. No help from store or company. During any temp change the fresh food would freeze and top unfreeze and no matter how long you waited and changed settings. Junk.

I purchased three separate Rheem HVAC units for three of my house. Has one unit failed within three months and needed a new water pump. One unit failed within 9 months and needed a new fan motor and the third unit managed to last two years and needed a new condensing fan motor. For what you pay for these systems I can't even see one of them failing this quickly but three systems is inexcusable and I don't run my air conditioning hard at all. I keep my house at 81 degrees and the two other houses are kept at about 75 or 76 degrees. There is no excuse for these units to fail this quickly.Every time I call Rheem they just tie me up in questions about serial numbers and product numbers and they never give me a firm answer as to why the systems failed so quickly and they obviously have never made any offer to reimburse the expenses of repairing these systems. The first two were covered under the warranty. The third one was not because it failed in two years so I was stuck paying for the repair. I'm actually afraid to use my air conditioning for what might break down next and I can't see these systems lasting 10 or 20 years. If they're breaking down like this now I don't know who regulates HVAC companies but Rheem needs to be reported. They are either making substandard products or they are pawning off reconditioned systems as new systems.

This is the second time our Trane air conditioner broke. First time a simple fix, a switch. This time the motor failed. Trane will not cover the motor. Our Trane dealer can’t even get a motor to replace this one as it is on back order. What does that tell you. It has been 2 weeks and still the part is on back order. I will never buy another Trane unit. My recommendation to everyone is DO NOT buy one.

We purchased a Trane HVAC system in 2006 for our new home. The home was not occupied until mid 2007 so the unit was not in use until then. The air conditioner is XL14i and the gas heater is unit XV90. Since then we have spent well over $2000 in labor costs to keep the unit running. The control board was replaced twice, once in June 2012 and again in March 2013. We came to learn this was due to a design flaw. We have had switches and contacts replaced several times, and are now in the process of having to have the coils replaced. Each time we have had to pay labor costs. We went to Trane and asked for reimbursement of labor for the control boards since it was an obvious design flaw. The same is true of the coils now being replaced. We were flatly turned down the first time, and I am sure we will be turned down again. I have no problem paying labor costs for a part that wears out, but when the problem is design the company should be liable. Take my advice. NEVER buy a Trane. It is a piece of garbage. We have spent several days last summer and this summer with no AC, and this past winter when the heat didn't work because of the control board issue. Fifty eight degrees is not a comfortable temperature in your house. I am angry and disgusted that a company that advertises "you can't stop a Trane" is so poor at standing behind their product.
