Product Reviews:

We purchased a 50 gallon water heater that claimed to come with a 6-year warranty on parts. It's been a little over two years that we owned the product, and we noticed rust on the bottom. We checked to make sure if water or even moisture is visible from the outside - nothing. The problem is obviously coming from the inside. Since we have warranty, we called them and got nowhere! We were told that it is just cosmetic. They refused to send out a technician to take a look at it. We even emailed them pictures (see pictures) and still nothing, no service. Their warranty is a joke. We will never by any Whirlpool product ever again. Don't believe the sticker that claims you are covered for a certain amount of time. When it comes down to it, they will not do anything for you.

My Reliance 606 began having pilot shut-off problems after 4 years. I vacuumed out the heater and storage closet but it kept on shutting down. Eventually, I removed the entire 3 tube and 1 wire burner assembly (but not the thermostat) and cleaned out all of the lines. It worked for a few months, but then, problems started again this week. I tried to redo what I did the last time but found that the main small gas line no longer had a pinhole, so I guess the hole got dangerously bigger. Fortunately, the thermostat assembly did its job and kept shutting down when the flow of gas increased. It appears that these heaters are all breaking down about every 3 or 4 years.I've been in touch with my dealer since the original problems began and he's been great. He told me to contact him and he'll replace the heater for free during the 6 year warranty period. I just have to provide him with a copy of the receipt and the model sticker off of the water heater. I don't even have to bring in the old heater. I'll be doing that today! I'd rather replace the heater while I can rather than buy the replacement assembly for 45 bucks.

Water heater quit after 5 weeks. Company told me all their techs were booked so I would have to find my own company, pay them, and then submit a claim for reimbursement. They did mail me a part that they seemed confident would fix problem, but refused to send it next day mail, even if I offered to pay for it, in spite of me explaining I had family in town for July 4th weekend. The rep I dealt with was borderline snotty and seemed indifferent to the situation.

3 years and 360 days, we had installed a 40 gallon gas water heater and it started leaking from the bottom. Called company who installed it. They came out and told me it is a total tank failure. The water heater is still under warranty but the cost of installation is again on me. I do not want nor will I have another Bradford White in my house. I refuse. Bradford-White will not give me another warranty on their own product and I am afraid to put another in my home. I thought living in Michigan I'd buy a Michigan made product. Bad choice and Bradford-White was not my first choice but I could not find a company that carried my first choice. So the kicker is the company that did the install no longer carries Bradford-White, and for a good reason, but they now carry the brand I originally wanted. Ironic. Never again a Bradford-White product.

Purchased Reliance 606 in 2012. Pilot started going out. They sent a memo to keep dust screen cleaned. It didn't help so the company I purchased the heater from talked Reliance into replacing my heater. Worked for seven months and pilot started going out. Sometimes it will stay lit for two weeks and start going out. I just received a new pilot assembly kit but I doubt if it will make a difference. If not, it will be SCRAP. Never again.

After 2 years the "Classic" 50 gal hot water tank makes loud popping and cracking noises. The independent plumber contacted Rheem to fix or replace the tank. In a nut shell Rheem said if is still heating the water ignore the noise. They can not fix. Very poor service and warranty. I do not recommend Rheem.

Our A.O. Smith water heater has always functioned perfectly. The recovery rate of the water heater has always been great and the water heater is able to handle our 50-gallon spa bath tub. It's made to very high-quality standards. I have heard about the A.O. Smith brand for many years and am proud to finally own one myself. The insulation contained in the hot water heater keeps the water hot for a very long time. Our experience with the customer service was excellent too. It was first class. The customer service staff was knowledgeable and extremely professional and courteous. The water heater is a bit expensive to purchase, but when all things are considered it was a very wise choice to purchase our A.O. Smith water heater.

We have an Apartment complex that has 58 units. In 2011 all 58 units were replaced with Rheem water heaters as part of a state tax incentive. Over the last 3 years we have had issues with 8 units, 5 of which needed totally replaced. The water heaters were all purchased from Home Depot and seem to be a different model than other common Rheem water heaters.

I have been on hold going on 30 mins trying to reach someone while my hot water heater is leaking all over my basement! It's only 2 years old! I will never use this company ever again! What a rip off! Take your business elsewhere!

We purchased a brand new water heater at a local hardware store, Reliance Water Heater, in October 2013. It worked for about a week before we began having issues. We kept running out of hot water about 5 minutes into a shower, sometimes less. Then, we had to wait hours for more hot water. After readjusting thermostat several times, we finally called their customer service department. We were told we needed to replace the thermostats. After that was done, it worked for about 4 days. Called customer service again, replaced heating elements. Worked 4-5 days, called again. Well, test the voltage, pull this out, what do you see? Check this again, reset that, oh, you probably got a faulty thermostat, get another one. Then, they tell us that we need to hire a licensed plumber to come look at it, on our dime! My reaction, You have got to be kidding me? This is a brand new water heater, has only worked 15-20 days since October, and they will not replace it! I am absolutely disgusted with this product and their handling of this matter! We were finally fed up, drove 4 hours round trip to nearest major city to purchase another brand! The nearest town, which is only 40 minutes away, has only 2 stores to purchase water heaters, and they both carry the Reliance brand only. Do not purchase a water heater made by Reliance!!
