Product Reviews:

I wanted to replace a 30yr old RUUD hot water heater. Found out Rheem now owns Ruud. I tried to buy a Rheem out of loyalty and NO local dealers would sell me one without installing it. I found one on Amazon and got free shipping on it. It arrived in great condition. I installed it and sure enough the anode rod cap was cracked through the threads and leaked. This was caused by the suspended weight during shipping. Rheem refused to warranty the part, said it was not a part they warrantied. Unreal, I contacted Amazon and they said they would refund the purchase price for the part. They did (I love Amazon). After 3 years my daughter turned up the tank to midway (C) on the thermostat. Within 2 days the top of the tank sunk in 2" and made it too dangerous to continue using it. After several calls and pictures sent to Rheem they agreed to warranty it (good til 2018). The only problem was NO dealer would handle warranty claim because they didn't install it. I contacted Rheem again with no response. I then filed a Better Business Bureau complaint for a full refund due to the fact I had to drive 50 miles and buy another brand tank to install so my family would have hot water. Rheem again played their delay game and wanted to start the warranty exchange process all over again. I replied I do not want a tank, I have one. I want a refund. They refused. Rheem has to have the worst customer service in the entire business world. NEVER BUY A RHEEM PRODUCT. They operate with the totally outdated dealer network business model to fix prices and make it impossible to get a warranty. Even if you have their dealer install the unit there will be much cost involved to have them warranty repair anything. Terrible management people at RHEEM.

I purchased a new Rheem water heater in December of 2021, 3 weeks later the electrical heating control unit failed per plumber's diagnosis. He recommended exchanging and installing another water heater. Home Depot was great about the exchange but Plummer said I would have to pay for the labor as he has had problems in the past getting paid by some manufacturers. So I paid him and then filled a claim with Rheem get reimburse... I'm still waiting on my money and they are not responding to any of my emails. :-(

I recently purchased a new "Whirlpool" propane water heater. Dependable name, dependable product, years of trusted service, right?! We have bought many Whirlpool products over the years but never again. Got it home and installed it. It sounded like a plane taking off, and that was in the garage. Next came the lack of "hot" water. Mind you, we replaced a 40-gallon tank with a 40-gallon tank and the last one we had lasted 18 years without a problem.Well, same showers as usual, and we were turning up the heat mid-shower and again and again during the shower. Even turning up the heat on the water heater didn't relieve the problem. We are not happy with the product. And, no, there is nothing mechanically wrong with it; it's just sub-par. Our water heater from 18 years ago worked more efficiently than this newer model. We called customer service, and we were told that unless there was something mechanically wrong with it, such as a defect, there was nothing we could do. There’s simply no recourse.Shame on Whirlpool for not making a quality product and standing behind it. This was a very expensive purchase - over $500.00. We thought we were buying a quality appliance. Very disappointed, and I will be returning it. I’m never buying another Whirlpool product again. I can only hope that the company we bought it from has a better customer service policy. Very frustrated and disappointed.

We purchased our first Rheem water heater on 11/21/2018. We have had nothing but problems ever since. From tools being taken from our home, to now the third water heater going bad plus on top of that being told that it would be two weeks till someone would be here to replace it! I have stage 4 Cancer that has spread to my bones making it long and difficult to get a shower among other things, can’t/ shouldn’t be without hot water!

I have RUUD tankless water heater (Model # RUTGH-950VN). On June 25th, 2016, it started leaking continuously. Since customer service was closed for that day (8:30 PM), I called the customer service on the following day! As soon as I told them that the water heater is leaking, they told me to send them the photos of the water heater before any further assistance. Once they received the photos they told me that I have to take the water heater to the dealer, from where I bought it. Since it was under warranty, I'll get a new one from the dealer. On June 27th, my plumber took it to the dealer. Since that model was not in stock, the dealer told me that it will arrive on July 1st, 2016.But on July 1st I came to know that the tankless water heater will only be shipped on 10th July (!!), and the dealer will receive it on July14th, 2016. So I contacted the Rheem customer service to complain. They (a male) told me that they can't do anything about shipping. It is out of their control. I had not hot water for all these days. I waited one more week and again contacted the Rheem customer service on July 6th, 2016. This time a new representative (female) told me that it is unacceptable that I am waiting for the water heater for so long. She told me that the required model is in stock. Since we were expecting the heater by July 14th, there is no point in shipping one more heater directly to the customer. Resigned, I decided to wait for one more week (thankfully it is summer). But July 14th came and went. Still no water heater at the dealer!! So I decided to contact THE CUSTOMER SERVICE again. This time lady told me that they never take care of the shipping and they can't if the heater has shipped from warehouse. I would never buy Rheem water heater again. Meanwhile I am still waiting for the new water heater from Rheem. I still don't have hot water at home and I have three small kids.

I had a hot water tank replaced in July 2018. It is now August 2019. I have not had proper hot water for year now. I've had to call the repairman 7 times and they've not been able to fix the problem. When I turn on the hot water, the tank rumbles. I'm told because the vent pipes are not adjusted correctly. I really don't know what more I can do and I might want to sell my place in the near future.

I purchased a brand new Rheem natural gas tank water heater in October of 2020 and last week we lost hot water. I called Rheem customer service on Thursday and they said we need a new gas valve, it'll be delivered in two business days. We go all weekend with no hot water, showering at work and the gym. Monday rolls around and still no part. I call again yesterday and there is no order placed under my name!!! After we get the order squared away I ask if someone is going to come and install this new part and they told me a service contract we had expired in Sept. 2021. I told them since they screwed us and didn't place our order the first time they should come install this for us anyways and they said THEY CAN'T. It's now the next day, I haven't gotten an email that the part has shipped and there's no tracking number. I call once again and they said yup, it hasn't shipped yet and left me hanging. WE ARE GOING ON ONE WEEK OF NO HOT WATER. I'm doing you a favor, do not buy Rheem! They're so useless and unhelpful and don't care.

I have a 5 y/o water heater that has a leak. I have replaced the exhaust fan already. I have sent them photos of the rusted and rotted away parts because of the leak. It’s under warranty. They are refusing to replace it.

I just purchased a new Whirlpool 6th Sense hot water tank #333570. This unit is a piece of garbage. Whirlpool should be ashamed at the quality of product they make. This unit came with a bent temperature and pressure relief valve, which required a piece of copper tubing to be bent awkwardly just to remedy the situation. Also, the control box is set at 12" (most other brands are 14", which is common), forcing the gas lines to be re-piped (very expensive). This unit also is extremely noisy, runs really, really hot and is not energy-efficient at all. Shame on me for not researching this product more closely. If you're buying a new hot water tank, steer clear of Whirlpool products.

The water heater works great. It has good hot water and good pressure. I am happy with it. It is a good brand. The water heater was in my home when I bought it, and I would buy another one if I had to replace the old one. I would suggest it to friends and family if they needed one.
