Product Reviews:

Our Whirlpool gas hot water heater was purchased and installed (through Lowes) in April 2008. In February 2009, the thermostat failed. Because the failure happened less than a year after purchase, Whirlpool replaced the part and paid for labor. The hot water heater failed again three weeks ago, and we contacted Whirlpool. We were once again provided with another thermostat, and were charged $135.00 by a plumber to install it (even though the customer service rep stated that there were "known issues" with this tank model). The tank is still not working properly. We (with our tenants) have tried troubleshooting according to their instructions, to no avail. It has been three weeks now, and no resolution. The heater has a six-year warranty. Not sure what this means if the product is defective to begin with. We pay to attempt to repair it?We will not be spending any more money on labor to install parts that may or may not work and have demanded that Whirlpool replace the heater. Whirlpool has refused to pay for any labor costs and told us that we must take the heater back to Lowes. So I suppose that means we have to pay to have a 3 1/2 year old heater removed from the gas and water lines, transported to Lowes, and a new one installed. What a deal.Stay away from Whirlpool.

We have had our Ecosmart water heater for a while and it works as if it's new. There were no issues when it was installed. My experience with customer service was great as well. They were very helpful and answered all my questions. They were patient with me and they took care of all my issues and said to call back if I needed anything else. The water heats up good with Ecosmart. It doesn't take long to heat up and it doesn't make any loud noises. I wish that everything works this good and I hope we don't have to change it for a long time. It will save a lot of money in the long run. We had one before and it was nothing but problems. I wish I found out about Ecosmart and bought it a lot sooner before I found our previous one. It would have stopped a lot of headaches in the past.

Ok out of all the reviews I've read here's one that you should all read if you're going to buy a Rheem. I replaced a GE for the Rheem and in less than a year I had 6 instances where I had no hot water and each time was when it rained. Now I had my handyman install it (who wouldn't right). Wrong... Had Rheem plumbing contractor come out who told me unit was flooded because the housing unit was not secured right allowing water into the housing unit which collected in the water heater... My warranty that expired on 2028 was now null and void one year into ownership. I strong urge everyone to not buy Rheem. The fine print is where they get you where it hurts. I had to pay $250 to get it working again but if it goes out again I'm screwed with no warranty. BUYER BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY... I will be filing a complaint with Rheem and Better Business and Consumer Affairs. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN EVER!!!

All Navien water heaters receive very high ratings from consumers. In fact, they are among the highest rated from any water heater manufacturer. Some of the characteristics that are mentioned time and again in reviews include the easy installation, energy savings, solid construction (that is easy to maintain), and small size. Consumers also appreciate that hot water arrives to their faucet in just a few seconds or less and that most models run relatively quietly for gas water heaters. The only complaint about Navien water heaters you’ll find is that they are quite expensive, with an average price of around $1,200. This puts the heaters at the high end of the cost scale. However, with their longer lifespan, greater efficiency (which ultimately leads to cost savings), and top-of-the-range technology, many consumers agree that these heaters are a worthwhile investment.

Four years ago I purchased a Bradford White gas water heater. In less than 2 years the temperature of the water could not be controlled, as I kept turning it lower and lower as it stayed very hot. When I called the company I was told to set it at pilot which I did... still too hot. A plumber looked at it and told me everything was fine because the blinking green light was blinking. I suggested that maybe something was wrong with the blinking light! This patient person finally ran out of patience and called another plumber. The temperature of the water on just the pilot light was 134 degrees. The plumber has changed out hundreds of the sensors in these water heaters because they only last about 2 years... about $200 part. If you don't mind the built-in obsolescence expense every 2 years and poor customer service, by all means purchase a Bradford White water heater.

Had to replace a Bradford White water heater in 4 year old house - replaced with a Bradford white. Now 3 yrs later motor has died. Paid $363 to have plumber out to replace parts not covered by warranty. He has to source new motor which we hope is covered by warranty - then another plumber visit cost! Have owned 7 or 8 homes in past - have never had these issues with any other water heater - not reliable and very expensive to replace and install.

I would give them zero stars if that was an option. Purchased a brand new American Water Heater on 12/19/18. By 2/19/19, it had already stopped working. When my plumber called to get the okay to replace valve & burner assembly, he was on hold for over 1 hour before they would give approval. He replaced the parts and by 2/28/19, the heater was again not functioning. Again he called to speak to a rep at American and was put on hold 3 times. He was on the phone over half an hour and was told we needed to replace burner and valve assembly AGAIN. If that didn't work, would need to replace vent. If that didn't work, they would finally send approval to replace unit. After expressing my displeasure with this, I was told it's all they would do. This is the worst customer service ever! Their products only deserve to be in the local landfill dump. Luckily my wonderful plumber at William Frankel Plumbing replaced this terrible heater with a brand new Bradford White that so far is working perfectly. Thank goodness for a having a great plumber that stood by me and took care of me when this water heater company did nothing.

I bought a Whirlpool water heater a few years back and have had nothing but headaches replacing the thermocouple every 1 to 3 months. The last one only lasted for 4 days. I did have a small flood in my basement well after the problems began. There are no visible signs of water damage to the unit, but Whirlpool has dropped my warranty completely. They sounded like they intend on not helping me anyway.

Installed 50 gallons Richmond hot water heater. Electrical power supply did not work from start. Waited 2 days for new power supply cord which should have been replaced by service technician since it was clearly a faulty part. Power supply lasted about 10 days before it went out again. Now waiting for a service tech to replace the same power supply I did a few weeks ago. The bigger question is why is the power supply going out in the first place? Never again will I get any Richmond or Rheem product.

Licensed plumber installed BW Eco-Magnum Series w/Hydro jet 75 gal water heater on August 2016. Failed this week April 2020. Two pinhole leaks on lower sidewall approximately 6" from bottom, near the vent holes left of the Honeywell temperature regulator. The leaks were right at the weld areas. The insulation was completely soaked. Did not last 5 years even after routine flushes. Either tank defect or possible issues with the Honeywell regulator that may have overheated the unit. There was an attempted class action lawsuit regarding the Honeywell regulator. Water pressure valve and water pressure checks out. Plumber coming to replace on Monday April 6, 2020.
