We built a new house and the builder installed an Amana heat pump through one of his subcontractors. The Amana contractor/installer did not register the product, nor were we advised that registration on our part was required. We have all documentation of the purchase. A part in the heat pump failed and Amana (Goodman Manufacturing) would NOT stand by the warranty, because we had not formally registered the product with them. Amana (Goodman Manufacturing) would not accept the paid invoices to the builder as proof of purchase. This is very shabby business practice and the manufacturer's way of legally not honoring the warranty. Year 5 and we have had nothing but problems with the unit that was installed Aug 31, 2009. The inside coils had to be replaced after 1year. The Fan Motor control ECM had to be replaced in 2013 - out labor cost of $200. The compressor fan motor had to replaced in Nov 2014 - out Labor cost of $250. They replaced it and 10 minutes later the unit shut down again. Now they are saying that the TXV on the heat pump is causing to short cycle on heat - will again be out Labor of $625. This is a nightmare and all the RHEEM service center says is they are not responsible for labor. WHAT ABOUT putting POOR QUALITY PRODUCT in consumer homes. Bought new furnace and quit working after 2 months - pipes froze due to 20 degrees cold. Igniter rod bad and technician replaced with new $15 different rod and works fine since. Tech said they had 2-3 other new Trane furnaces with same problem - Trane should have done a recall! Had $3000 in damage and Trane would not cover it!Steven of Appleton, WI

I purchased a heat pump in 11/2011 and then started to have a lot of problems in 2015. It was noisy running also. Then on 5/15 was my 1st service call and they found a hole in the coil which leaked freon. Had to be repaired and added freon. Then 4/2016 it stopped working completely. Another service call and they had to replace the compressor and defrost control unit. At least they were under warranty, but I had to pay for service call and freon. That's not cheap either. On July 8 warm air came thru vents. Serviceman had to add more freon and changed the schraders. More money. This lasted a week and back to warm air again. Another call another hole in coil and more freon. This lasted a month so now it's Aug. 2016 and I'm sitting here in my house with temp of 95 and outside temp of 98. I have so much money out for service calls and freon, that I've decided that I am going to have to buy a new heat pump when this one isn't even 5 yrs. old. But with all the money going for repairs, I could have put in a new one. I trusted the dealer for the quality of Goodman products, but since all these troubles I've read all the unsatisfactory notations and I'm adding to it. In fact the customer service girl at Goodman hung up on me when I told her I would never recommend this company to anyone. How's that for rude employees!! I would like to get some of my money back if it's possible. I wrote to Goodman asking for this, but I doubt if I will because they don't care. They don't even make my model anymore, so it must have been bad to begin with. I hope other people read the reviews about Goodman before they purchase anything and don't buy from them. Replaced our 30-yr-old furnace with a new Trane furnace XT95 in Canada. This was installed on Feb. 20, 2013. The heating is poor. We have a finished basement and it never gets above 58 degrees F. When I sit on my couch just above the furnace, it feels like I`m riding on a train. Have had numerous service calls but they don`t know what`s the matter. They've changed motors, adjusted parts and used their diagnostics tools and this is the installers. Now have to wait for the big experts from Trane. I was told by the company that sold and installed the furnace that they were coming about 2 weeks before. I even contacted Trane company myself. Still waiting .Annia of Niagara Falls, ON

Recently had a tank less hot water heater installed. Really pleased with Northern Continental. My sales guy, Dan, was very thorough and patiently answered all questions that I had. The sales process easy -- no pressure, just looking to provide us with what we wanted. Our install was scheduled the week after we put our deposit down. Our installer, Scott, was very good. I bought the 5 ton Carrier Infinity HNA26 indoor and outdoor unit heat pump system in 2007. My money was good; my purchase was not. Ducting was made to spec for the Carrier heat pump compressor in a new home heating some 3500 sq feet. 4 years later, 2011, the original compressor packed it in, a new compressor was installed costing me some $2000.00 more - labour and refrigerant. There were also numerous service calls prior, with among others the replacement of a honking reversing valve. Now in 2015 the 2011 replacement compressor has packed it in - another 4 years. Two (2) compressors shot! Junk! I phoned another heat pump outfit and they will install a comparable American Standard for some $12,500.00 here in British Columbia, Canada. That is a boat load of money to replace a Carrier unit that should have lasted some 15 or so more years. There should be a class action suit against Carrier for this!Brent of Calgary, S.E., AB

Purchased 2 model FB4CNF024 Carrier 2 ton heat pump 7/11/2014 and has had service checks by installer yearly. First blower motor out in 11/17/2015 replaced promptly under warranty. Second blower motor under warranty has just went out 11/23/2016 and told blower motor on back order til February 2017. This is on the same unit in the bedrooms. What is a senior citizen to do with severe neuropathy after brain surgery and very cold sensitive. If you use different motor voids warranty so must go without heat through winter. This Trane air cond 3 ton wasn't working the day my installer put it in the first year it was installed. Sept 2014 something with a valve and the wrong oil used in this units and Trane knew about this problem. Took over 6 weeks to repair. It was a nightmare. Even my installer didn't want to fix it. Took weeks for a part. They would not rush to help me, my wife and mother in law who had health issues. They were ** on the phone. Now I have a bigger problem with the heat system once again. ** cost me 700 dollars out of my pocket this time. This unit only 3 years old. 200 for shipping, 500 for labor and still waiting for part November 11, 2017. O-rings in the heat exchanger are burnt out like the space shuttle Challenger in 1984. This causes the furnace to run hot and will not lit so now you're in the cold. Check it out on youtube. If you want to be hot in the summer, cold in the winter with a big repair bill Take my advice. Do not even think of buy a Trane AC or heating or whatever else there. Wish I knew beforehand.Bill of Brick, NJ

AC heater air handler unit - When installed my house flooded. Phoned the installer, I did everything correctly. Phoned Goodman company, was told if I can wait a month they will send someone to look at it. This is right after installation. They said he did not unplug something so it was emptying in the house - my house is carpeted, it's in the kitchen/dining room, living room and passageway to the bedrooms dripping wet. He came, said it was fixed. Used it for a month, and it was not used for 2 years. Now it's flooding again and it's freezing up above the filter. Turned off for a week and tried again - frozen. Thawed it out and just turned it off. This unit is a piece of crap and Goodman should be closed. I had a Trane for 20 years no problem and lightning hit the compressor. So after him pressuring me to change the unit for nearly $4,000 dollars, I got ripped off. Wish I had all the information on this unit but it's mislaid. Will try and locate.Joanne of Middleburg, FL
