18 month old Trane blower motor ECM module defective furnace shut down on coldest day of year and no parts available, took a week to get the part and it was defective also. Another week called Trane, they could care less about your problem. If I live here long enough will never replace anything with a Trane.anthony of La Grange, KY

Year 5 and we have had nothing but problems with the unit that was installed Aug 31, 2009. The inside coils had to be replaced after 1year. The Fan Motor control ECM had to be replaced in 2013 - out labor cost of $200. The compressor fan motor had to replaced in Nov 2014 - out Labor cost of $250. They replaced it and 10 minutes later the unit shut down again. Now they are saying that the TXV on the heat pump is causing to short cycle on heat - will again be out Labor of $625. This is a nightmare and all the RHEEM service center says is they are not responsible for labor. WHAT ABOUT putting POOR QUALITY PRODUCT in consumer homes. Please don't think that because I only gave 4 stars for this company that they aren't worth looking into. Purchasing this unit was in my opinion a really great buy. The price was 30-60% less than the "Brand Names" - My unit cost ~$3,200 (a 5 Ton heat pump package unit with additional electric heat & new programmable thermostat) plus an additional $500 for final install - to get warranty activated. I bought a Rheem furnace 2 stage variable speed and A/C unit. It was installed in summer. In winter, I noticed that furnace kicks in directly in the second stage and never works in the first stage. It is too noisy and heat variations are high. I tried for 3 months to determine the contractor to come and fix the issue. It was not an emergency, but the unit was under warranty and did not do what was supposed to do. After 3 months, the contractor comes and tries to call the dealer in order to get support from them as the contractor did not know what to do (despite the fact it seems a very simple setting). I took 2 days off, and every day the contractor cannot reach the dealer's technician despite the fact that this was scheduled in advance. I was frustrated and tried to send a complaint directly to Rheem. I filled in their contact form (there is no way to contact them via phone) and wrote a long note venting my frustration and bad experience with the whole chain. And at the end, when I tried to submit, it didn't go through. I tried 6 times and every time, it failed without telling me what the error is. So in the end, there is no one to contact at Rheem to explain the situation, and how the dealer and the contractor and possibly the quality of their product affect their reputation. In the end, I am a very unhappy Rheem customer, and I would never ever recommend someone to buy a Rheem product due to the overall experience I had with all 3 entities involved (producer/dealer and contractor).Liviu of Paramus, NJ

We purchased a Trane XL18i high-efficiency heat pump back in the fall. We have had many issues with the unit since installation. It was initially not installed correctly and continues to not work properly. We thought Trane was a good product, but we are seriously questioning this. Now that the season has changed and we are using A/C for the first time, it does not work correctly. We spent thousands of dollars and NO ONE seems to be able to rectify the issues. We have been given our 3rd thermostat (I don't think there's anything wrong with the thermostats), and I'm really not so sure that there isn't a much bigger issue with the installation or unit itself. We believe at this point that the entire installation needs to be checked, including all wiring that was done with it to find the problem and resolve it once and for all. The Trane dealer we used is useless, so we called the Trane 1-800 number and requested a field service rep be sent out. They refused and said that they didn't care about the issue, talk to the dealer. They really don't stand behind their product! We are obviously not alone with this experience, so couldn't we all band together for a class action lawsuit? Any attorney's reading this or does anyone know an attorney who would take this on? I am on board with this. We would love a refund at this point and have them take all the equipment back so we can go with another company. Wishful thinking.Tanya of Spring Mills, PA

Had this furnace 5.5 years. (RGPE07EAMKR 2 stage). Worked OK the first 5 years. At year 3 years, had to replace Pressure Switch Assembly. Even though under warranty, it still cost me $300. Just after the 5 year warranty expired, the furnace acted up and was not heating properly. Does not to Stage 2 level. And struggles to get above 70-71. After spending $700!! And had 2 techs spend a total of 6 hours on it - IT IS STILL NOT HEATING PROPERLY!!! And it is now recommended I spend another $200-$300 to TRY to get it working properly. (There is no guarantee this advice will solve the problem). I might as well throw it out and start over! I would NEVER BUY RHEEM AGAIN. :-(Michael of Chicago, IL

The old Carrier unit (installed in the mid 80s) finally died three years ago. Since I retired from Trane after 25+ years I wanted a Trane heat pump. Every winter since it was installed we have had Dirty Sock Syndrome. It makes the entire house smell just like dirty socks. Never had this issue with the Carrier unit all those years. The Trane dealer cleans the unit and the smell goes away till the next winter. However, my dealer is now saying if this next cleaning doesn't work we should look into purchasing and installing ultra violet lighting to kill the bacteria. Very very surprised on this system. I had this system installed form a neighborhood contractor I was very skeptical on this system do to I never heard of it. After going through everything with and all the other quotes I ended up having this installed. This system is very quite and helped my energy bills. I have had no issues with this furnace it was installed 1/15/2015. I dont write many reviews but waited 3 years on this review because I wanted to make sure I got something quality. But like my installing company said as long as it is installed correctly I wont have problems with it. Highly recommend it and their ac systems.M. Halverson

In August of 2016 we had an A/C system failure, and decided to have a Goodman complete system with gas furnace installed. Not only was the overall cost much lower than some competitors, both A/C and heat have performed at a very high level from day one. Our home has less humidity, is comfortable, and we also enjoy the fan speed settings.
