Has your Viking microwave stopped working?

Make sure the microwave is plugged in and receive power. Plug a hairdryer, or other appliance into the microwave’s outlet, and see if it works. If it works, you know the problem is with the microwave, not the power circuit.

Ensure the GFCI outlet is working as it should. If the GFCI outlet stopped working, push the reset button back in to reset the breaker.

Make sure the circuit breaker or fuse is working properly. If the circuit breaker is tripped or the fuse is blown, turn the circuit breaker off and then back on again, or replace the blown fuse.

If you've followed the three simple tips above and your Viking microwave is still not working, it's time to call professionals.

Preparing for Microwave Oven Repair
Microwave oven repair is sometimes straightforward, but many problems fall outside the scope of casual home "fake it 'til you make it" repairs. A few important points:
Don't attempt a repair if your microwave is still under warranty, because that voids your warranty. Also, why do it yourself when a professional will look after it for you?
Always unplug the microwave before you remove the cover and begin testing.
Capacitors can deliver a nasty and potentially lethal shock, even when the microwave is unplugged. If you can't recognize a capacitor on sight, you should probably leave any board-level troubleshooting to someone more experienced.

Microwave Has no Power
If your microwave has no power at all, that's actually good news because it means some of the simplest fixes may apply. To begin with, if your microwave stopped working in the middle of cooking, it might simply be a breaker (or fuse, in an older home). Check your panel, reset it if necessary and try again. If the breaker promptly blows again, there's an issue with the microwave and you should stop using it.
A second common problem, and easy fix, is that the microwave's main fuse may have blown. It's a cylindrical fuse, usually ceramic and usually rated for 20 or 25 amps. Remove it from the fuse holder, set your meter to its continuity setting if it has one or its ohms/resistance setting if not, and test the fuse. If it shows no continuity, or a resistance of infinity or zero, replace the fuse. It's the simplest microwave oven repair, one that most people are capable of.
Most microwaves also have a thermal cutout or "thermal fuse," to keep it from overheating. Those are a bit harder to spot but quite recognizable if you look up some images online. Disconnect the cutout from the board and test it for continuity. As with a conventional fuse, lack of continuity or a resistance of zero or infinity means the cutout should be replaced. The cutout's temperature rating will be printed on the side, and you should replace it with one of the same rating.

Microwave Won't Start
If your microwave has power but won't cook, it's often a problem with the door. The door's latch contains an interlock switch that keeps it from operating when the door isn't closed. If that fails, the microwave won't work.
To test the switch, unplug it and remove the cabinet. The switch is a "normally open" type, meaning you should only get continuity when its plunger/actuator button is pushed down. With the leads of your meter connected to the terminals (labeled C for common and NO for normally open), press the switch. If you don't get continuity, the switch is your culprit and needs to be replaced.
If the switch is working, the problem may lie with the spring-loaded door hooks, which close the door firmly, and trigger the interlock. If the hooks are worn or the springs have lost tension, they may not trigger the door switch properly. Replacing them requires disassembling and possibly removing the door. It takes some time but isn't especially difficult.

Microwave Won't Cook
If the microwave starts fine but won't actually cook food, the problem is very often with the magnetron. You'll need to unplug and open the microwave, and then discharge the capacitor safely to avoid the risk of shock, according to Authorized Service Appliance Repair. If you aren't confident in your ability to do that safely, you should call in an appliance repair professional.
Once you have access to the magnetron, disconnect its wires and test them for continuity. You should show continuity of 2 to 3 ohms between the terminals. If there's no continuity between the terminals, or if there is continuity between the terminals and the magnetron's outer case, it will need to be replaced.

Ive had previous Viking appliances. Im happy with the refrigerator that I received except for the freezer which was delivered dented. I went to the dealer because as they delivered it, their reps also noticed that it was dented. The replacement came and it was dented too. Im waiting for it to be replaced since September. Other than that, the refrigerator has been great. They just need to pack their refrigerators better in case there might be an issue.

Ive been using Viking Ranges for years. On delivery, the range that I received from them wasnt so good. It was not only scratched, but there were missing parts on it. I reached out to Customer Service and they responded promptly. They were knowledgeable and courteous, scheduled time with me, and then showed up on time. The repair done was excellent. Since my range has been working, Ive liked everything about it and its been good. However, the vice president in charge of customer relations told me that we get the one-year extension on my warranty. I havent seen anything from him to show that, and Id appreciate it if Id get an email or something that I could hold and print.

Im an interior designer, so Ive used Viking ranges a few times in houses that Ive designed the kitchens and built. I bought my range at Ferguson and got a good deal on it. I love my range. It is of good quality, has high heat output and all the grates are very heavy. Its a little difficult to clean though. Also, it is more of a commercial level, and its a little difficult to learn how to cook on it.The ovens are very hard to get a hang of because theres a drop-down broiler heating element in the top of both of the oven units. If you dont position your racks right, you will burn everything. If you get them too low, then you burn it from the bottom, because youre too close to the bottom element. I used the manual to figure out the configuration of the oven racks. Once they stopped burning things and figured out the positioning of the racks to cook what I do on a daily basis, it was a little better. Right now, I have some little issues with it and I have a service coming out tomorrow. Its not preheating right, and the fans for the convection of the large oven sounds like a motorcycle when it comes on.

We like the design of the refrigerator. The range hood and the dishwasher were also included in the package which we liked. The quality is very good except that our range needed to have the boiler burner replaced through warranty which took probably three months. The technicians did everything they could. They just were waiting for the part.

We bought a Viking oven three years ago and its been one problem after another. The temperature controls are wonky, there was a gas leak (gas company had to come and turn it off) and the fan is much louder than other comparable high-end models. All in all, the oven is a huge disappointment and I would not recommend anyone buying it.

We originally had a Northland refrigerator and it had a single, swing-out door. We started looking for another ref and we decided to go with a ref with double doors. I opened every two-door, swing-out model and looked at the trays, shelves, drawers, and guides, and how well these were made and fitted. Compared to their competitors, Viking had the product with the best custom interior and guides for drawers and shelves, and they were hands down above all the other ones that we saw on the market. Also, our experience with the dealer was excellent. They do a nice job and we buy a lot of appliances from them. The ref we got from them is nice and we like it. It keeps our food cold and frozen the way its supposed to and everything is operating the way we expected, so were happy with it. We like the double doors too. Buy from Viking. They do their homework well.

After 4 repairs on an original and 10 repairs on a complete replacement Viking double wall oven, we gave up. We couldnt spend any more time waiting the four-hour window for repairmen, and no correction to maintaining a constant oven temp. Two repairmen broke fingers during repairs, no lie. Viking warranty people lacked response often, and convinced me to keep trying. Also, the cook top grates have little rubber feet that kept melting and falling off. DANGEROUS! Replaced about 6 times. Ten years later, dozens of burnt or under cooked meals, cookies etc., we are finally able to and frustrated enough to get something new. The hesitation is the cabinet was cut larger to fit Viking. And what do you buy? This is a short version on the problems with Viking and Viking associates. I could go on and on. BUY SOMETHING ELSE and save your sanity.

I previously owned a Viking when we remodeled my kitchen. I really liked the product, but not this time around. Everything that weve ordered, theres been something wrong with it. It took us six to eight months just to receive the product because it was on back order. And then when we received it, it was damaged. We had to deal with the company we bought it from going back and forth, and it took another four months to get the replacement. They kept pushing the buck. I kept getting transferred, making calls and I wouldn’t get a callback. It was poor customer service. I love the older Viking, but I dont like the new one. Its not the same quality. My old range was great to cook on and bake on. The one I have now sometimes turns on, and sometimes it doesnt. Also, my refrigerator has been down since before Christmas and the parts have not come. I had to throw all my groceries away. So, Ive had nothing but bad luck. I just finished talking to Viking yesterday to find out how soon I can get my stuff, and the gal was very nice and helpful. And shes pushing things forward, so I really appreciate that. But I would not recommend Viking.

We have a 2 year old Viking range that unfortunately required service. We called Viking and they gave us 2 companies that they recommended. Oceanic Repair was one of them. Not to sound silly but living by the water made me choose them over the other one. They did such a great job I wanted to let others know. They went through all of our appliances with us, I feel like we got a lesson instead of a service call. I saw a lot of bad press about Viking, I no longer agree with most of it. We now understand the reasons why our range was built as it is and now that were are using it with our new found understanding, our level of joy has gone through the roof. Remember the internet is full of people who have had issues, most people forget to say the good things as well. I would buy a Viking again and if it needed service I know who to call.

Viking has always been one of the top brands to buy in status, quality and functionality. I’m 63-years-old and I’ve had Viking for 40 years. I just purchased a range for a second home, and I’m satisfied with the quality of the product. The whole package is good. The quality of the stainless steel and the knobs too. They also moved up to LED light, which is nice. I am a builder in Manhattan and I do some high-end residential and commercial work. I am not a cook but I recognize quality when I see and work with it. Viking is one of the brands that I would always recommend.

I went to a number of home shows when I was trying to build a house and talked to a Viking Refrigerators rep and a dealer. I went to about five more home shows and saw the same guys. I decided to make the purchase and so far theyre okay. However, it is not cold all the way. Sometimes the freezer ices up a bit. And then I had to make sure that ice is not stuck in the ice maker because ice won’t come out. The ref is great, but it’s having twerks. I reached out to Viking Refrigerators but they wanted me to register everything first and then call back. Also, the dealer was just all about the sale and after that, he kept having a follow-up and a follow-up. I wouldn’t use that dealer again. I’m still satisfied with my overall experience with Viking Refrigerators. Others would just have to make sure they get the right dealer and a Viking Refrigerators certified installer. That’s important.

I was looking for a pro series refrigerator to match my professional appliances. The Viking Refrigerator met my requirements plus it was around my budget. The person from the store has been helping me with the appliances and choosing the right ones, and thought highly about the Viking Refrigerator. It’s very well lit with the LED lighting and it’s nice being able to open it and see everything. I like the number of shelves and the fact that I can reconfigure them. I have one that folds in half, so thats also neat because I may not need a full shelf. I could fold one of the shelves in half to fit a gallon of milk or orange juice, but if I dont have that, maybe I want to have the shelves instead. Also, the control panel lights up and temperature cool zone can be adjusted to cool whatever food you’re storing and it will keep it at that temperature plus the dial setting can be easily accessed because it’s in the inside of the door. Thats very helpful because with other refrigerators, they have it in places where someone cant even reach. The only issue that I had was that I had to have the refrigerator replaced 3 times because of the doors being not aligned and even. They tried to align the doors but the top part was wider open than the bottom. The store said that they couldnt do anything with it because the wheels in the back were not adjustable and they could not also adjust the doors. They could only do operating on adjustments. I called Viking service and they sent a repairman who said that it was actually defective and I need it to have it replaced. The reason it happened twice is because the store said, Well order a replacement, but when it came, one of the doors was dented. Theyve had the same issue, and they were not going to leave it with me. Theyre going to take it back. The store said, If youre not happy with the Viking maybe you could choose a different model or a different refrigerator. But even though the Viking refrigerator has those issues, I liked it and was already in love with it. I couldnt find that different selection. So then they delivered a new one and it was better than the other one. It wasnt wobbly but it still had an issue with the doors. However, when the repairman came and told me that it was defective, he said the doors could be fixed but not the wobbly part. They called the service again and I said, I got the replacement refrigerator. Can you come fix the door? They did, so now its good.At least, they let me keep the refrigerator until I got the replacement so I was not without a refrigerator. But because it was a special order it would take long time, like in a month. I wasnt happy because of everything else, but regarding the unit itself and how it operates, I would definitely recommend it. For the price, its great because it competes with the professional refrigerators.

Im just happy with the overall performance. Plus the Viking dealer was very thorough. Theyre just very straightforward and honest about things. We own a built-in Viking refrigerator that was manufactured in 2013. Over the past year, its plastic bins have started to disintegrate spontaneously. Nothing was abused or overstuffed. So far the following have fallen apart: (1) The pull for the ice drawer. (2) Three bins in the refrigerator door. (3) All bins in the freezer door, although two have lost pieces but the damaged bins havent yet fallen out. (4) The clear front of the deli drawer has cracked. (5) The clear top of the chiller drawer at the bottom of the refrigerator has fallen off.Obviously without the bins the refrigerator is nearly useless, unless one uses only its floor, and the wire shelves in the freezer which appear to have survived. Viking quoted a replacement cost for all these plastic items that would run more than $2000. To put this in perspective, a month ago I paid $650 for the 21 cu-ft GE refrigerator in my garage. I had to buy it partly because the Viking could hold less and less.We called Viking and were told that the refrigerator is out of warranty. When I asked the rep if he had ever heard of all the plastic disintegrating 6-7 years into the life of the unit, he said he had. When I asked if this was typical, he said it wasnt. When I suggested that our unit may have been manufactured with a bad batch of plastic and that Viking should take some responsibility to replace it, he said that they will not.In the past I have used a Kitchenaid built-in, GE, Whirlpool, Amana. In the early years I even bought used refrigerators from previous homeowners or used old ones in rental houses. Never have I seen bins crack and disintegrate as if this were timed to bring in another injection of revenue to Viking 6 to 7 years after the sale. Viking is not a low-cost brand that is trimming pennies on their product to lower the sale price; they position themselves as a high-end luxury brand. Whatever happened to reliability, durability, and pride in the brand?

Since my remodeling still going on and we have to call warranty and for the range of this price, this should be better. Some materials that are used for burners make it really impossible to clean including the griddle. But my favorite feature is how much room it has on the top.I bought the blower, the range, the microwave, the dishwasher and the refrigerator from Best Buy so, it’s pretty close to a $30,000 on the Viking products. That guy who was taking care of me at Best Buy left.Stove was nowhere to be found. I called the store and left messages, nobody answered. The people on the phone promised me to call me back all the time. Finally, I went into the store. They told me to stop by the following week and I did that again because I can’t get anybody on the phone every time I call. I tried to get on some guy, they looked for it, then three days after that, they finally delivered the range. It showed it was backordered, tracked it down that they arrived in Denver three weeks ago and it was sitting in a warehouse somewhere. It was a horrible experience.Think thrice because there’s Sub-Zero brand that is totally competitive and just go with them, that’s all [unclear 0:06:54] makes no sense to spend 50 grand with this kind of service or this kind of follow-up.

A repairman told me that it has defective parts. Nothing caused by us. Total cost for the repairs is $576. When we bought this condo, an LLC came in and we completely remodeled it. We had an appliance package that everything in the kitchen is Viking. However, Ive been a little disappointed with some of the Viking products because I know it has got such a good reputation. The Viking refrigerator seems to be building up the ice cubes like you got a pull-out drawer. I really like the style of the double doors on top with the freezer at the bottom, but when I open the door for the freezer all the ice falls out the back of the tray. It was a brand-new kitchen when we got the condo and there was all this frost buildup. Evidently, somebody hadn’t put the shelves in right, so it pushed the door out a little bit. I had a Viking repairman come in and he fixed that and he said a lot of people had this complaint as the tray isn’t tall enough at the back of it. I guess Viking has done something to order a higher back on the ice tray to hold the ice cubes in. He said he ordered it. I had spoken to somebody at Viking and it seemed that the people that remodeled did not register any of the products. I had to get online as well as on the phone to register the products and that was a challenge as well. Im pretty efficient on the product code, yet it took about three days to get all the products registered through the website and for customer service to call me back and tell me, “Don’t put that number in. Leave that letter off.“ Viking customer service and repair was excellent. The customer service was very helpful getting back to me, double checking and calling me back. They were prompt and they were fine. It was just so odd about this logging in the product serial number and stuff and then not having to go through. The refrigerator was just good to average and I really like the bottom freezer. The refrigerator has a feature that has chilled water on it, but that’s something that I had no choice because the refrigerator came with it. Also, the refrigerator doors are not quite sturdy. It seems like when I open the double doors, everything seems to rattle and move around. But Ive never had a double door before since Ive had a KitchenAid with a bottom freezer and a big single door. So, maybe its just the nature of having the double refrigerator doors.

Beware of purchasing Viking Appliances!!! We purchased a Viking Range, double oven and beverage from Macon Appliance Store in Franklin, NC and spent almost $18,000 only to find out that Viking only carries a 2 year warranty. We had Blossom Gas come out to inspect our gas and they discovered there was a leak coming from the gas range. We contacted Macon Appliance and a repairman contacted us and set up a service call. It was discovered that the gas range had a gas leak and parts were ordered. On 10/31/19 the serviceman returned with the parts to repair our gas range. It was at this time that he informed us that we owed $670.00 because the 2 yr warranty had expired. Needless to say I was livid as what company sells such expensive appliances with a 2 yr warranty. The appliances were delivered in Aug 2017 but our home was not completed until the later part of September. I have also read other reviews from customers that had the same problem with a gas leak so this is obviously a problem with Viking gas ranges yet your company wants to gauge customers that are paying high prices for these appliances with a warranty that is worth nothing. Even Lowe’s, Home Depot and other companies offer a 5 yr warranty and much better service. I will NEVER purchase another Viking appliance again and will ensure that I let people know about the terrible quality of service that Viking provides. It is a shame that a company like yours takes people for their money. I contacted your customer service to report this only to speak with a representative that was rude. I asked her to have a supervisor contact me and I never received a callback. I am also contacting the BBB to report this matter!

But I don’t like that the ice cubes keep flowing over and I don’t know how to shut it off like the other refrigerators.

Ive seen Viking Ranges in some upper-class homes and some friends of ours have them. My wife and I had a premium range, one of the chef cook ranges in another house but it wasn’t a Viking. So, when I looked around in Harway, one of the dealers had four models of Viking. They have a showroom floor that has almost every Viking range they made and then they have a couple of other brands as well. I pretty much knew I wanted the Viking one when I walked in there but I looked at the other one. There were a couple of range that when you put them on simmer, the simmer runs out completely different holes that you just think about the burner. The other range has big holes and it turns the gas down but if you really want the simmer, that may be too many holes to stay lit and it might be too much heat. The other one changes to an inner burner to do that. I thought that was cool but at the end of the day, theres just more stuff to go wrong. I looked at Viking and figured it out. Surprisingly, there was so little difference between them. You could get six burners in 36 inches’ range which is pretty good. And I liked the way Viking looks. Theyre very premium ovens. I also liked that the Viking burners were all the same size instead of having a simmer burner, a non-simmer burner, a big burner and a little burner. Theyre all identical and they all have a simmer feature so you don’t have to try to figure out and it’s one of those kinds of deals. Its designed a bit more for somebody that never forgets. The range I purchased is awesome. I ordered the 36-inch range which comes with a six-burner version. When the box came, it said it was a six burner but when we took it out, the range was the one with the griddle in the middle with its own four burners. I pulled the guys and told them that was the wrong stove. They pulled the box out and showed me the box that has the right part number with the right words on it. It was a big shock to us. I waited five weeks for the range to get here and I didn’t want to wait again. So, I had the range with the griddle installed. I was here when the guys installed it and I had a whole kitchen renovation done when adding this range. I was the only one who wanted and liked the six-burner one but now, I have four burners and the griddle works really nice. My wife also informed me that she liked the griddle one better. The burners work well and they put a lot of heat. Im on propane and theyre 15,000 PTV burners each so it turns out we could really cook something. And all the dishes and pots use the lowest setting now and that we don’t even need that high burner. I like being able to utilize one of the burner stove and the cooktop wont get hot enough. When I bought the range, I wasn’t trying to buy the griddle one but had I known I was getting it, the reps would have told me that there was a wooden cutting board that goes on the griddle. And it covers the griddle up so youre not looking at the ugly black griddle that gets naturally darker with time. Theres also the stainless-steel cover for it. The Viking Range stove itself has a dust-cover bottom. So, I was surprised that the Viking people didn’t try to upsell any of the options. I wanted the dust-cover bottom cause it keeps things from going under the range. These things are made like commercial ranges where theyre open at the bottom but most people don’t want that. So, I had to go back and buy that part. Then I found out that they had a wooden piece that goes in the griddle and the cover that goes over the griddle. I drove back from driving 27 miles to pick them up. I would have rather they showed me all that stuff when I bought the oven. The only reason I knew it was when I went on a Viking website and I saw all that. When the wooden thing that goes in the griddle, the cutting board and the cover first came in, they were wrong and the guy told me that he knew that I already had a bad experience. He looked and came back and told me that those were the wrong parts. So, he reordered them again so something is going on with Viking shipping. They cant put the right stuff in the right box and thats frustrating especially when youre on back order and I had to wait six weeks. When I got the stove, Viking gave me a discount coupon for their pots, pans and the skillets so I went back and bought a bunch of skillets and stuff using their discount which was really cool. Viking has a lot of accessories that were not in the store. You would never know about them unless you read their little coupon that you normally throw away. I ordered the big stainless spatula and spoon that hang and two of them are on back orders. But, the two I got were gorgeous and I’m going to hang them on the wall. If a person buys an $8,000 oven, Viking salesmen should sell up and show all the accessories. I love the Viking equipment but their process of shipping the equipment is flawed. I don’t like ordering things and getting the wrong things. Im okay with the griddle now although its not what I ordered.

We have had this VDSC548T6G range/oven for about 3 years. The ignitor on the left front burner takes over 1 minute to light and often does not light at all, this is the only burner of the 6 that has this issue (part is a DSI module). Over Thanksgiving the oven knob/electronic module stopped working (part is Electronic control module). We called a service technician who claimed the parts were no longer available. Anyone have any suggestions for purchasing parts? This is so frustrating.

We did a kitchen remodel and the person whom we were using to do the kitchen was the distributor for Viking. We got a Viking Refrigerator but then it woke me up last night as there is some sort of sensor that goes off and sets the alarm off. We have already had this sensor fixed once and now its broken again. Additionally, the drawer doesnt seem to shut right. The way freezer drawers work should be that they slide really easily, regardless if theres a lot of weight. However, after two weeks of operation, our freezer drawer has slowed down to the point where we have to push it with effort to get it to close.Viking has tried to have that fixed and nobody has been able to fix it. They contract with local repair people who have been very responsive. These repair people have addressed the issues, as reported but then theres still some sort of sensor that fails. The problem wasnt too bad when the sensor was going off at 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM. However, it has been going off at 3:22 in the morning and its annoying. There are beeping sounds coming from the kitchen thats surrounded by hardwood floors. The techs who have come have replaced several pieces the last time they came out. The problem with the sensor stopped for two or three weeks after that but then started again.

The quality of our Viking Refrigerator is good. Its all metallic and easy to pull down drawers and wash and clean. But the thing that we are having an issue with is when you open the refrigerator, its very heavy because the door is custom-made. Then the stopper there broke last week. So we had someone come and replace it. But Im worried that its gonna happen again. Other than that, everything is good.

Vikings customer service was outstanding. The guy that remodeled my house was pretty cuckoo, in no real detail or into especially for that kind of stuff. There were six appliances here that are all Viking and the reps worked with me very nicely about getting all the model numbers and the serial numbers. We got them all registered. There was never any question that it was a maintenance issue or a warranty issue. The only drawback I see about the refrigerator is that when I pull open the drawer of the icemaker, ice falls behind the drawer and into the cabinet where I cant get those loose cubes out. Still, its a great product.

I’ve used Viking for several years. I’ve had a 16-inch Viking range in one house and had some other Viking and Jenn-Air appliances as well. But Ive always gone back to Viking. My wife likes them because the big Viking ranges have removable inserts so when we spill and things flow over on the gas ranges, we lift the grating off and then there’s a pan that we can lift out on the older ones that makes it much easier to clean. But in my current house, I bought a Viking surface gas range and it’s a pain in the ass because I can’t pull those pans out to clean them.I also have a non-built in refrigerator and I had it drop shipped to my house. I unpacked it, installed it myself, set it all up, and it’s perfect. I like the LED lighting in them. Its just a nice touch to it when I open the doors. Also, the handles have a substantial feel which at times, feel a little better than industrial feel. Others are still in boxes and they’re waiting to be installed. One’s a built in refrigerator, built in freezer, and a built in wine cooler. And I have a construction project going on right now so they’re not going to be installed for another four weeks if all goes smoothly. One of the reasons I’ve gone overboard with Viking is because when I went a local supplier where I’m at to look at Viking and they didn’t stock them any more They said, “Well, we actually just had to pull them out because we don’t do enough business here. Viking is consolidated per dealership network. And so I called another dealer and they said, “Yeah. We’ve been buying up all the demo Viking stuff and Viking bought stuff from other dealers ‘cause they’ve gone through a dealer consolidation. So I ended up going to a dealer in Dallas, Texas and buying most of my Viking appliances from them. We got a really good discount because they had been buying up inventory from other dealerships in this consolidation so my timing was right.Nonetheless, I spent over $20,000 but Ive got three refrigerators, a wine cooler, two stove tops, one gas, one induction, and one Viking wall oven and two Viking warming drawers. My wife absolutely loves the wall oven because they’re French doors, and she’s short. She’s burned herself on oven doors trying to reach into the oven to pull things out and so those French doors are phenomenal for short people because they can get right into the oven without having to reach over the door when they open the door down in a conventional oven. Ive already recommended them to a couple of friends that were remodeling their kitchens. I even told them where to go and a couple of dealerships that I worked with that gave really good pricing.

There was an issue where the company we bought it from didnt deliver several components for the stove, and we didnt realize it until well after it was purchased. They couldnt do anything to help us. It was difficult to get in touch with the Viking parts department and identify what the correct pieces were that we needed to order to fully install the stove. But the stove served us well since weve gotten the parts we needed and had it installed.

I haven’t had a problem with it other than a drawer breaking, and they sent us a replacement. I called Viking and they said to make sure the appliances are registered. So, they registered, and once they were registered, they were gonna send somebody out. I couldn’t believe they were gonna do that. When they realized it was just a drawer, they just sent the drawer. The process was easy. I like all the features of the refrigerator. One feature is kinda interesting. They made it so you can put a full-sized pizza on the bottom of it, which is pretty cool because you always have a problem with the box of the pizza. Ive been trying to get somebody from Viking to help me for about two and a half months now and Im not happy. Within a matter of two days, I had all four drawers of my refrigerator completely break. The top two where I put cheese and ham, cracked all the way across the plastic. The bottom ones are absolutely broken and shattered in pieces. It must be a plastic piece that goes around it that is cracked. And apparently, there is a bolt that goes in the door that stops it from swinging open when I open it, and that broke too. Now, when I open the door, it swings into the double oven and the handles of the double oven have now made dents or scratches on the door of the refrigerator. Right now, I have a towel tied around the double Viking Professional oven handle, my $12,000 refrigerator is completely broken, and I cant even have anybody to come over to my house with this looking like this. No one has gotten back to me. Ferguson has been wonderful and gave me the name of somebody to come out and see what could be done or if it was on a recall list, and that guy that was called wouldnt even come out to the house to look at it. He said there was nothing he could do as Im not under warranty. Im really frustrated. Its ridiculous to pay this kind of money and itd be five years old and all of a sudden it just breaks.I looked up on the internet to see if anybody else was having those problems, and apparently, theres been a lot of people that had the same problem with the drawers cracking and breaking. The top ones where I put ham and cheese in look bad, but I can still use them. However, the ones at the bottom where I put lettuce, vegetables, and tomatoes, I cant even use. Theyre in probably about 10 pieces. I talked to customer service and they told me that there was nothing they could do and that to order me four new drawers, it would be about $1,200. Is there somebody else that I can speak to? Nope. Thats it. I am really pissed. Furthermore, in the very beginning, the girl at customer service wouldnt even talk to me because she said I had not registered. I guess I had to register the products with Viking for any call backs and warranties, and until I did that, she wouldnt even talk to me. So I did that. I had to find the receipt from five years ago when we purchased it, with the purchase number and address. Then I called her back and theres nothing they can do. This was after the approved repairman for Viking wouldnt even come out. I said I didnt understand as the reason that we purchased Viking is we assumed that they would stand behind their product. They said they do, but it does not feel like that for me.

We bought a new house 3 years ago. The house came with all brand new Viking appliances, wonderful we thought... until we actually wanted to use them. We have a microwave, fridge/freezer, 6 burner range oven and dishwasher. Fridge/freezer and microwave have worked fine, so no complaints there.Oven and dishwasher however, are a bit of a disaster. First of all the oven - the gas was coming in too far from the flame, so it would never light properly, or it would light and then go out after a few seconds, just leaving the click click click as it tried to reignite, and the smell of gas everywhere. Called the engineer and he repositioned the pipe so it would work properly (the original issue might have been the problem from installation and not a Viking problem, Im not sure). Then after this visit, the fan in the oven makes a ting ting ting noise knocking against something if we try to use it - as wed had the engineer out for the dishwasher in the middle of this, I couldnt face getting him here again, so we have lived for 3 years without using the fan. Now onto the dishwasher which wasnt working when we moved in (brand new dishwasher), sometimes it would stop mid-cycle, other times it wouldnt go on at all. We had the service engineer out several times. First time he tried resetting everything, then second time he ordered a new electric panel on the front and came back and installed it later, then after that it seemed to work fine. Until yesterday, when the electric heater failed - at least this is the word on the Viking website talking about this very issue on a product recall (which doesnt include our dishwasher). As I sat about 3 feet from the machine, I heard a strange short circuit sound and a pop, seconds later there was smoke coming from the machine (which was running), I grabbed the fire extinguisher and switched everything off. Moved our two babies to another room, and pulled the machine out of the wall with my husband, smelt where it was coming from, and dismantled the thing to find a completely burnt out electric heater and wiring on the bottom. Very dangerous. We now have a semi-dismantled dishwasher in the kitchen and we are trying to get the part replacement - officially this is on a 6-week order lead time. More to come, but 100% sure that I would not purchase Viking again.

In the year 2000 my husband and I bought a home and shortly after began an extensive and costly kitchen remodel. We spared no expense and believing we were buying the best, we bought a Viking refrigerator. In hindsight, it was our worst decision. Almost from the very beginning we began having problems. The ice maker stopped working, the door accessories and drawers began to crack to the point that one of the condiment containers has a huge hole on the bottom rendering it totally unusable. Certainly not the quality youd expect from such expensive appliances. When food started spoiling we knew we had a big problem and called Viking for help. By then, of course, warranty had expired but they recommended a local service company. By the third visit with no resolution we knew we were dealing with an incompetent repairman and my husband, at this point beyond frustrated, practically threw him out of our home. We never got any satisfaction from Viking. And its incomprehensible to me that after spending thousands of $$$ on a beautiful, state-of-the-art refrigerator I am forced to make ice in plastic ice cube trays and keeping milk, cheese, cold cuts and veggies in my old GE in the basement because the temp is never cold enough no matter how we adjust the settings. Last night I opened the door to put something away and felt warm air. The Viking finally conked out. So, this morning my husband and I are debating who to call. And as I google Viking, I came across your reviews and, can I say, I am shocked by the hundreds of negative stories I have spent over 2 hours reading, stories so similar to mine. So now I dont know what to do. Do I dare spend possibly $1,500-2,000 in repairs which may or may not fix the problem or do I ditch the Viking and take the loss? One of our dilemma is that our kitchen was totally custom therefore the Viking is tightly wall mounted with molding and trim all around. Would I be able to find a non-Viking refrigerator that would fit the same dimensions? I am so angry. This is certainly not what one would expect from a company like Viking. I am open to join a class action suit.

Purchased a high end Viking Refrigerator in Oct, 2008 for just under $5,000. In August 2015 it stopped cooling due to a Freon leak. Local appliance repair fixed it temporarily by recharging at a cost of $541. Permanent fix required replacing defective Viking parts that were covered by warranty and ordered on Oct 1st. However labor costs of $1,800 plus tax were NOT covered.By Nov. 5 the parts had still not arrived. I contacted Viking customer service and got no satisfaction or assurance, so I wrote the COO of Viking a letter with the facts and expressing my dissatisfaction. It takes over 5 weeks to replace defective parts that are covered by warranty! It costs me $1,800 in labor to replace Vikings defective parts! I received NO response whatsoever from the COO or anybody at Viking. Eventually the parts arrived at the end of November and the refrigerator was repaired on Dec 7 -- OVER 2 MONTHS after the parts were ordered! With that kind of quality and their non-existent service, Ill never buy another Viking product and have recommended the same to every person and appliance seller I know.

I love my stove. I had to get used to it because of the temperature variation from my old stove to this Viking stove. But I love the style of the stove and the self-cleaning elements of it. I love that it’s lifted from the floor that you can sweep underneath. I also love that it heats up quickly. I love, love, love that it’s stainless steel and you can wipe it down polished easily. Im very satisfied with my stove. I have two issues with my stove. One issue is that my kickplate was dented a little bit when they delivered the stove. So I went back to the store and they said that the company was going to call me because they thought they had the kickplates in storage. But then nobody has contacted me yet. The dent is not noticeable. But when I spend that kind of money for an appliance, I want to make sure that theres no dents anywhere. I got the stove delivered in December and it’s April. I know there was a backlog on them, so I was giving them the opportunity to catch up in the backlog and the whole bit, but this has a been a bit long. The other issue is that the knob on the right gets stuck sometimes and it doesnt turn on or off. You cant do anything with it. If I give it a hard turn, then it will go up or down. You dont want anybody that doesnt know the stove doing that. So this developed within the last two weeks and I have to call them in for that.

We heard that Viking Ranges was one of the best but my wife and I dont feel that way anymore, and well never buy a Viking again. It was a terrible experience. We bought our range and had it over five years. Something happened to the temperature button so that we could only cook at 350 or above. They came in to fix that button and it was gonna be $1,000 to fix it.When they went to fix the button, they moved the stove and they said that on the bottom theres electronic wires that shorted out the oven when they moved it. The service people said it was a defect on the way they made them and now they make them with some type of insulator that protects the wires from shorting out. But thats not available to our range so we had to purchase another one, and we wound up getting a newer model that has that. But we had spent over $2,000 on the newer model that doesnt have a gauge that people can see the temperature on. We have to put something inside of it to see the temperature. There was also no clock on it. And It was more expensive than ours. Its ridiculous.I could buy something for a quarter of the price that I would be more happy with because weve used Wolf before as a higher-end unit in a lot of our rentals. Weve used much less expensive stuff which weve had for 20 years and we didnt have these kinds of problems. Viking is just a name brand and they probably shop out all their service and have no parts after five years on a unit people purchased. Its unbelievable. I dont know how they got their name but Im sure not from what weve experienced. Its just an oven and it doesnt do anything special. It cooks like everything else is supposed to. Name brands impress people. We could have bought a new oven from somebody else with the money we spent to fix our situation.

Every place I went to said they were not doing Viking anymore. They said they were phasing it out. So, I was just kind of laid back and waited, and then I contacted Viking directly and tried to get information on my own. I finally went to Nebraska Furniture Mart, and they had given me the runaround the first time. The next time we went, I found somebody that would sell it to us, but they didn’t have much in stock. We had to buy just from a picture.

We were remodeling our kitchen and we wanted to upgrade all of our appliances so we did get Viking for everything. However, the refrigeration portion was faulty so we called our warranty and they did replace it. Its now working fine but thats not expected when you spend that much money on a refrigerator. It was a bit disappointing. For a week, we had to figure out how we were going to store food. We ended up having two technicians come out because they didnt communicate. It was a bit of a mess but its over and Im glad.

We had a lot of problems with our old refrigerator. It was a nightmare so I didnt want to buy that same band. I wanted an American made refrigerator so I went through a whole lot of options. We owned other Viking appliances so we looked at them at a store. We bought the Viking ref from an appliance store in Minneapolis. They were very nice. They didnt scratch it during the delivery and the delivery guys were very friendly. There were no issues. The Viking ref is not a regular refrigerator. Its built in so it fits a very specific size and it matches the cupboard, so it cant be easily thrown away. You got to fix them. Another thing I really like about it is I installed it myself and bolted it into the wall. They gave me the directions and showed me where and how to bolt it into the wall. It has a lot of nice lighting. My wife noticed that it doesnt get any mold in it because it has an ozone generator so she doesnt have to sit and clean it up. That is the absolute best feature of the Viking ref. The old ref was always moldy and yucky inside and we hated it. There was no egg holder in the door of the Viking ref. They provided a closed egg container where one had to take it up the shelf, open the cover and take an egg out. That was just a pain. So I made really nice trays that sit in my doors. Viking might want to consider doing that because the other company did that. The ice maker tends to run too much ice that it overflows. When you open up the door it dumps the ice out into the cabinet. But that is little bit of a pain compared to my old refrigerator. Its interesting because its the same exact brand of ice maker my old ref uses. They should improve their icemaker because they buy it from the ice maker company. I hope that Viking is better, but I don’t hold that hope. The most important thing will be to determine how long it lasts without giving us any trouble. They were a good company. Were very happy with the refrigeration from Viking.

Bought a home with all-Viking appliances. They LOOK heavy duty, and the range certainly is. Problem is, they dont work as well or have many features available on more popular consumer brands like GE, KitchenAid, etc., that cost much, much less. Our Viking range has racks that are impossible to pull out. In our other home, our GE Monogram has beautiful ball-bearing shelves that glide fully in or out with ease. The Viking fridge has shelves and compartments that are all cracked, even though its pretty new. It beeps once in a while for no apparent reason (the door is CLOSED! ); its slow to make ice, and has no ice or water through the door. Seriously? Why would anyone pay thousands for this junk when other brands have better features, more durability and cost far less to service?

My sister had a Viking Refrigerator and I also chose them because my LG broke and I wanted a counter depth refrigerator, basically with the luxury of a high-end refrigerator, but not having a built-in. A built-in will run you $10,000 to $12,000, so I thought it was a good idea to go with the name Viking. It really fits my kitchen as well. The price was on point and I didn’t consider anything else because of it. The quality of the refrigerator is good, so far. It seems to keep my food a lot fresher than my LG did. However, the refrigerator door doesn’t stay all the way down in that lift. It also makes ice so fast that when you pull the door open, ice cubes fall out. It’s not a defect and it’s not such a bad thing, but its not perfect. Nevertheless, I like the handle of the refrigerator because it matches our Wolf oven. Im all about the look and I would tell others to definitely go for Viking Refrigerators. I would also tell them that I could actually go to Costco with the comfort of knowing my food is going to last.

I always knew of Viking and I wanted more of a commercial stove. But when I bought from them, the time frame was awful. I ordered in November and I got it in January. There was also an issue with the stove and that was very frustrating. But it got fixed. Then, I had a scratch on it which was right at the surface of the stainless steel ledge. Their person ended up telling me that it was a really common place and it was going to get scratched eventually. So I just told her to forget it, which stinks. But it is what it is and I couldnt wait any longer. I wasnt going to send the range back for a small scratch, but it still shouldnt have been there.Aside from that, Viking did not handle any issues with me. I had to go through the seller, which was frustrating because they just kept saying they were waiting. So because of COVID, it took a while, which I understand. But there was no follow-up whatsoever, so you felt it was a burden calling. Everybody was calling with the same stuff and they were mad about it. I have little children and I didnt have appliances for months. That was so hard and I will never do that again. I love the stove now. Its big and I can cook whatever I want whenever I want because the size is nice. I also like that each burner is the same size. But there was so much trouble that I dont know that I would buy a Viking range again.

I have a large family, I cook a lot and I needed something strong and durable. I got the Viking stove and its very powerful. However, I have a problem inserting the racks. I make a cake, slide the racks out and the racks stick and go off the track. They dont slide in and out comfortably. And then, I have a vent above the stove and I have glass in the back of the stove instead of stainless steel. My husband pushed the stove too close to the glass so the first time I used the oven, the glass exploded. Also, its very busy to keep the top clean because it doesn’t have sealed burners. It has grates that I have to take in and out and steel wool in between every little crevice there on the top. I have adult sons that are slobs when it comes to cleaning so it’s an extra effort for me to keep this range clean on the top. I would have looked at something different and paid $1,000 extra and gotten a sealed burner. But I got what I got and I use S.O.S Steel Wool to keep the top clean every day. Otherwise, the stove is terrific and I like it.

I looked at the reviews for Viking and it seemed that it was a very good high-end product. I went ahead and did the upgrade with them. But the quality is not there compared to the KitchenAid product that was installed in most of the units that we bought. With the upgrade value, weve been having nothing but problems. We had to replace the bottom freezer drawer and its still not working. Its still uneven and the representatives couldnt get that straightened out. They had to go back again. Were still waiting to hear about whats gonna happen. Also, the side paneling where you have the temperature and the other things that you can do with the refrigerator was damaged. Its a brand-new refrigerator and I already had to have the door replaced. And theres no water dispenser in the refrigerator. Its totally not worth it and I regret it. Ive been telling other people not to get it. We also have the dishwasher and when you put it on the cycle, there will always be moisture inside. The dishes are drying but the moisture on the back and the front of the door when you open it still exists. That was weird. Ive never had a dishwasher that didnt fully dry. This one doesnt even have an upper level the feature where you can put the forks and knives. It was a big fail there. We also got a Viking stove and the fan belt is bent. If you wanna do the convectional oven feature, you would see that its making a weird noise. Its a brand new stove so why was this happening? And the knob on the stove were all scratched. That was another complaint. I registered the products and I placed the service ticket. They contacted the vendor or the wholesaler that the general contractor used. The general contractor is Resolute and they did the purchase of the Viking product through Appliance Center. Thats the wholesaler who then came out and did the service for us. One of the technicians admitted that he had a lot of issues with the Viking stove. He was aware of them because he does a lot of service calls for Viking stoves. It has not been a good experience for my husband and me. The only thing that we like is the microwave oven. That was the only one that didnt really give us any issues. All in all, I would not and I will never get another Viking again.

Viking was supposed to be a quality brand. Ive had the range for a year now and its not properly working. Ive had to have repairman after repairman in and out of my home and the problem is still not resolved 100% so its a bit of an issue. After nine months of not working properly, they decided to replace the whole range. And now, the parts that I had purchased that are supposed to fit the same year dont fit because a piece of it is warped. We finally got the other oven working because I didnt have both sides working for a whole year. And now that we finally got it working, the griddle that they replaced it with is warped. They had someone come out and look at it and it needed to be replaced. But Vikings saying that he didnt say that it was warped when I was standing right there and he did say it. They said that theyre not replacing it basically. So now, I have a warped griddle that I cant cover.I thought I was buying a luxury piece of equipment for my home and now its just been one thing after another and no ones been helpful. I havent heard from them for probably two to three weeks on what theyre going to do about the warped griddle so I just have another defective piece of whatever. It would be nice if I could go back and if they would refund me and I would purchase a completely different brand so that I could get some customer service.

We wanted a commercial range. We looked at Thermadors but we liked the way Viking Range looked and the price was okay. Viking had a tough track record but we understand they were bought out by another corporation and they supposedly turned things around. The team at the dealer wasn’t great when we went to buy the range. They handle a lot of different lines. They were very nice but not extremely knowledgeable. I would think anybody who represents the commercial people like that would be very well trained. They provided all the information I needed as I asked it, but most of the time, they had to look it up. I think this particular dealer was more into GE, LG and the lower-end or middle-end stuff. They werent impressive by any means. Also, once you pay for them, you would almost think that when they install them, they would run through a tutorial. But the delivery was okay.We like it a lot and have cooked and maked tea on it. Yesterday, we just baked with it and it was making a few popping noises. Were not accustomed to a gas oven and hopefully, its a learning curve but Im assuming that was some of the stuff burning off because its new. Thats a question I have for the technician whos coming to look at the knobs in the front that are rubbing when I turn them and the front kick plate on the bottom that is crooked. But we like that were being able to control the heat on the burners and its appearance as well. It looks very commercial, industrial and it’s well designed. Right now, we’re satisfied.

Other than that, I usually call the manufacturer in Mississippi if I need anything and they are the most excellent to deal with the troubleshoots. I can call them if I suspect that I have a problem and they’ve been the best. If you call the purchase department, theyre very good at saying, “Well, I dont think that, Maybe that’s not it, or Yes. Also, I like the quality and everything. The only issue that we had was, when it arrived, the knobs were in the wrong spots. But they got fixed quickly. When I went into the store of the multi-product and multi-brand dealer, I had a shortlist of what would fit in my house, and the Viking refrigerator was one of them. Its well-rated. I looked online for reviews and did more of my research outside of the dealer store. The refrigerator that I got from Viking is good. I like it a lot, especially the lighting. However, there are two things that I dont like about it. One is that I wish I had filtered water. The second one is that when you use the ice tray in the automatic ice feature, the little bars that measure whether its full or not usually catch the ice, and then the ice falls back into the freezer and you cant shut the freezer. So then you have to fish up some of the ice. But its hard to get back there because you have to get down on your hands and knees and slide the big tray out. Otherwise, the ref is working well.

Were happy with the range but the purchase experience was not without difficulties. Immediately after installation, three warranty service calls were necessary due to faulty wiring on the convection fan and broiler ignition failures. The issues were not due to shipping. The stove came with a list of quality control checks but obviously, the factory is hasty in final QC. Its a pity because the build and design are so nice. Unfortunately the feet and link were not available to be shipped to Canada. As well my range was still under warranty. My husband and I purchased a BRAND NEW Viking VDOF730 professional series double wall ovens with the french door. It was installed on December 21st 2015. It worked beautifully for 10 days. The bottom oven stopped working on December 31st 2015. Turning the bottom broiler or convection on and the oven still doesnt get over 150F. When I finally got through to Viking customer service this morning after a 30 minute wait on hold, they authorized appliance service to come out and fix it on Wednesday, the day after we can no longer return the product. Let us hope that it keeps working afterwards.Updated on 03/10/2016: I first posted in the beginning of January 2016 regarding brand new french door stainless steel double wall ovens. It took several days for a serviceman to come out and verify that indeed the bottom ovens are not working. He ordered the replacement relay board and bottom element that day. Then the service department did not know when the replacement parts would ship. After almost a month of daily telephone calls to the customer service and to Pacific Sales, Viking finally agreed to replace the whole unit. The second unit was going to be sent to another city as there was an error on geography. Another two weeks pass. The replacement was damaged -- enamel cracked and scuffed off, oven webbing ripped, spiral machine marks on the racks and off-center doors. They were notified and we were told another new oven would be sent out. This time, 11 different signatures were on the inspection paperwork and it was installed. Then the installer damaged the doors. A different service is finally sent out -- without the french doors, or bottom hinges as the bottom oven is not closing properly. But it is okay to cook with -- so I am told.Within 2 days of it being installed, the ovens are running hot. You set it for 325 and it goes to 450. I am greatly annoyed. Yesterday, we are not notified that the service guy would be here to replace the inside of the french doors and the bottom oven hinges -- on a brand new oven. It was a fluke that he pulled up as I was coming home. He installed everything but still doesnt like the replacement hinges. I am giving it another try for a month; otherwise, goodbye Viking ovens. The gas cooktop appears to work fine although our downdraft pulls the flame out. I would NOT purchase their products again.

We also bought a Viking refrigerator back in 2012, and we didn’t have a good experience with that one. They had the drain set up, and we had issues with that the whole time we had it. They told us that it was just the way it was made. So, when we went with Viking again, they told us that their refrigerators are designed differently now, so we shouldn’t run into the same issues that we had. So, we went with a larger version of the same fridge. We also got an oven range, but it has a little issue with the way it was set up. So, I had the general manager from Main call me, and it sounded like he knew what the issue was. He said that it was something in the way it got set up, and they should be able to fix it. A couple of years later one of the $62 lights inside ceased to function. Finally, the last straw, at the age of 5 1/2 years the oven didnt even heat up past 110 degrees. I had it repaired one week ago by having the spark igniter replaced, as well as the light. The oven worked only once after that. I have had other ranges in the past and not one of them has been as sub-par as this Viking. It is pretty to look at, but thats not the point is it?

Less than five months ago I purchased all new appliances for my kitchen. I wanted a reputable brand that would last for years to come. Viking is a name you hear and immediately think high-end. Their appliances fit my style perfectly, simple yet classy-looking, so I took the plunge and ordered myself an entire Viking kitchen, not a cheap decision but my kitchen is MY space, so I splurged. My stainless steel refrigerator (double door on top, pull-out freezer on bottom) has been constant problems for me. Im actually not fond of any of my appliances but the others have been overlooked due to such shockingly poor quality of my refrigerator. First, the ice machine works completely randomly... one day a full tub of ice, the next nothing. Next, in less than three months time a shelving frame has completely cracked all the way through, and there is hardly any weight on it at all. Now, the produce drawers are sagging inwards and I do not trust the shelves in the least. It seems like it is constantly something with the unit. I had hoped to love my new kitchen but now Im so upset that, for the money I spent, I do not have appliances I can be proud to show off.

Weve had issues with the refrigerators installation. The top grill doesnt seem to be straight, it looks out of alignment. We had someone come look at it, but they said that is the way it is. Also, the kick plate looks very unfinished. It has screws showing, that doesnt look very attractive. A little disappointed with the appearance considering the cost.

Viking is amazing and they have come a long way. I’ve owned all different versions and as a contractor, I put them in a lot of different things. The new ones are great. I chose them over Wolf at the time due to their price. However, the door wasn’t set right and the light broke. So I’ve been waiting for them to order the part, come in here and finish it. Other than that, I love the range. The guys did a good job and theyre very consistent. I called to the Viking team once and they were very helpful. They should give more information such as the steps in using a gas oven for cooking and send that out, but so far so good with my Viking range.

I got my Viking Refrigerator when I bought the house one year ago and the fridge was awesome. But then a drawer came out and I couldnt get it back in. I spent five hours trying to get that back together. Even my husband tried and he couldn’t do it, then other pieces were falling out. I tried to hold it up with water bottles at one time. I called Viking and someone is coming to fix it tomorrow free of charge. They ordered all new replacement parts. Still, the Viking fridge is an excellent product. I like the door alarm too. If you don’t get it shut, it beeps.

Viking 36 inch refrigerator, as well as dishwasher, and range were installed in my new high-end condo over 4 years ago. Unit was very noisy. Viking told me that was normal for this unit. Had Viking authorized service tech out today to repair my 2 other Viking appliances (thats 3 out of 3 defective), and was told that refrigerator defective also. Despite reporting problem when unit was new, Viking refuses to offer repair under warranty. Customer service agent and supervisor both declined help and said I had no other recourse. Defective product, poor advice from corporate support initially, no ownership of problem from company despite Viking presenting itself as high-end company with quality products and service. Quality is lousy. Customer service and relations are lousy. Value is horrible.

I moved from North Carolina to Texas. I had a KitchenAid back in North Carolina and I had mix results, but mostly positive. And I switched from KitchenAid to Viking when I moved to Texas. I walked into Best Buy, saw Vikings, and I liked it. The measurements were such that it fit my house. Ive heard their reputation was good and unfortunately my experience was not that good. And I like the layout of the inside and configuration of it. I did not particularly go out and do an experimentation or competitive shopping. I still like the Viking but I bought it off the floor. In other words, it was a floor model. My number one complaint is that the delivery from Best Buy to my home was mediocre. Two dudes came and then just dumped the box. They couldnt wait to get out and get their money. They didnt level it. The couple of the handles were loose because its just a floor model. I knew that and got a discount because of it. But we checked carefully with Viking and I was able to ascertain on the phone that I had full warranty just as if it was new. I learned one lesson that I would not buy another floor model again. I got the discounts for a good reason, but there were nix in the handle. It didnt bother me because of the discount was substantial and I thought, What the heck? Its a good box. So, I bought it. And I would never do that again. Because even though I had a full warranty and Viking was very accommodating about getting a service order out and getting a service guy in here, their service guys are not trained. A dude came in to do the servicing because the rubber sealed on the freezer portion did not close all the way at the top. Otherwise, there was a half an inch gap between the rubber and the metal. And consequently, the box was going 24/7. I never heard it quiet ever until I had this service call. He tightened up one handle, but didnt do the other handle. The bottom portion of the outside to the decorative chrome piece that sits on the floor thats loose on one end. He didnt tighten that. It was a very slipshod work. He didnt have the tools and didnt have the moxie to do the service. So, Im disappointed in that fashion. Im still not quite sure whether the freezer portion is correctly positioned and whether the screws are correctly tightened and leveled. I understand about floors not even and the knob but now the box is not level. And it bothers me. I look at it every day, and I see it that its at least three quarters inches off on one side. I paid quite a bit of money for a nice box that I thought was the top of the line, top shelf box and I cant get any satisfaction. I cant get any service.I dont think the problem is just with the Viking product. I think its a combination of things. When they put it on sale, they had moved it from the wall portion to the outside door of Alco or Foyer. So, theyve been moving it around and that indicates to me that depending how good the movers are, what kind of dollies they use, and where the heck they put the dolly, did they bend something, the freezer door portion get bent and out of shape and thats why the rubber seal did not seal.

The Viking Refrigerator that I got is great. Its everything I thought it would be. I like the bright lights, being able to change the configuration that it has. I like the more solid material. There is one thing I wish they did have that is not there, and thats a filter for the water that goes to the ice. Cause typically the water connections are behind it, and since this is built-in, its not like a regular fridge where you can pull it out and then change the filter. I had to run a line from my reverse osmosis system to go to the back, even though theres a water connection with the spigot built into my house behind it. But everything else has been great. Were pretty happy with it. It looks great and performs really well.

We know and we like Viking so we go Viking all the way. We have two stoves, one gas, one electric, a microwave, and a dishwasher. Theyre easy to use and everythings upfront. Everything else we buy these days, including a car, comes with a tutorial on DVDs and 48-page pamphlets just to introduce the other pamphlets. But Viking we just look at it and there it is. Our Viking refrigerator is only a few days old and so far its been fine compared to the other one, which was a disaster. Its very steady and has a door alarm. In case I get caught in a fugue like state I can always be reminded by the alarm. And everythings uniform in terms of refrigeration throughout the compartment, which we like. I also like that it has a barrier bar between in the back of the right hand door so when we’re closing it it really seals. The ice maker is good. We can turn it off if we dont want it and there are no issues about leaks and going into trays. It is very self-contained and efficient. The Viking dealer have very friendly folks. They told us about others brands, more for contrast. They didn’t try to sell us anything else. Once they saw we were going Viking they reinforced things and they were very efficient. There was a lot of communication. They called us back and forth. The driver with the appliance had called us three times telling about his route. They did exactly what they said they were going to do, price wise and in terms of the delivery date and the people who brought it in. The delivery folks were great. They spent over an hour leveling things and they did a great job. They were very careful and neat and one of the best deliveries weve had since we were here. The only thing that Id have to get used to is the bottom drawer which is a long drawer and gives good storage for the cold zone but theres nothing about that that we use right now. Although I could see for the future we might be loading different sorts of perishables in there. We have to open both doors to get that lower drawer open. Its not a problem it just culturally I hadnt been doing that. And should a friend ask me about Viking refrigeration I’d say, “If youre rich, get it.”

We shopped around at several different appliance, some of the appliance showrooms, and I was going back and forth between Sub-Zero, Wolf and Viking. There were pros and cons for all of them but I really liked the Series 5 oven. They have a double oven that’s got a French door on top and that combined with the cooktop that I felt like it was a rugged enough look. I decided to go for a Viking kitchen package because of the oven than it was because of the fridge in particular. But if I put raw strawberries in their fridge the strawberries stay fresher much longer than they did in previous normal refrigerators I had. Before when I put the strawberries in my refrigerator two days later they’d be all shriveling. But with Viking I can put them in there, and a week later, they still look edible. There’s something about the airflow. One of their appliance guy explained to us something about that and it definitely works. But I have to buy an ice scoop because Viking doesn’t make ice dispensers in their fridges, which is fine, because I like the smooth look on the front. But I think that they should probably throw in like a food grade ice scoop because yon’t wanna touch ice cube with your hands. That’s just kinda gross.

We received our range and it was installed in our home. Everything worked fine for a day. Then, the oven stopped working. We called for a service technician to come out. They came out, did some adjustments, and nothing worked. He couldnt get it to fix so he said that we got to order new parts. I told him that it is a brand-new range and I asked why we need to order brand-new parts. So, it arrived faultily. The parts were back-ordered for probably a month. We spoke to our regional representative, trying to figure out what the holdup was. Of course, it was blamed on COVID and I understood that. Then the parts came and the service technician installed them. Everything was working when he was here. He left that evening. I went to make dinner and put a chicken in. An hour later, the oven was lukewarm. It didnt maintain its flame. The next morning, before I called them, I thought to see what was going on. It would go through its clicking cycle to ignite. It’s a liquid propane system. And we ordered the correct range. That morning, it went through its cooking cycle like it always does and didnt light. We tried it again and then a fireball came out the bottom of it. I called the technician and told them what happened. I also called our regional representative and told her what happened. The technician was busy and couldnt come out ‘til the next week. Then he came back out and looked at it. He called the Viking service line and went through all of the suggestions that they made. He could get the small oven to light, but could not get the bigger side to light, and now has ordered another part. I think its the igniter or something like that is not working. I just got a phone call this morning that were on the schedule two weeks from now to get it repaired. Right now, I’m not very happy. We can use the top, but we cant do anything in the oven. Its pretty frustrating, especially since this is supposed to be top-of-the-line. So, basically, we have a brand-new piece of metal sitting in our kitchen that we cant use to its full extent. The most frustrating thing is were not getting any discount or benefit. We tell our representatives whats going on. We even said that we wanted another one because what if something happens to this one again? I dont know why that wasnt offered, again, ‘cause its a brand-new thing and its faulty when it arrived. I understand its a big piece. Its not like something that I brought home in a bag. It involved shipping and people installing it. But were kind of stuck as a consumer. Our technician is great. Theyre highly recommended. It’s no fault of them. Its the product and these arent cheap. Essentially this thing is the price of a car.
