What is the most energy efficient type of dryer
Posted On: September 20, 2021

There is nothing like hanging your clothes out on the line after they have been washed. Not only does this way of drying your clothes make them smell fresh, but it's also an excellent way to cut down on energy costs. However, you cannot always do this, especially during the winter months.

There are ways to save energy when drying your clothes, such as purchasing an energy-efficient dryer. And the most energy-efficient type of dryer is a heat-pump dryer.

A heat pump dryer works by using the heat in the room and then heating the air in the dryer. Whereas a regular dryer uses a heating element, and some dryers use a combination of both. Heat pump dryers can be expensive and slow, and they use less energy but can take a while to dry a large load of laundry.

There are other ways to save on energy costs without having to purchase an expensive dryer. These days conventional dryers are equipped with energy-saving functions such as moisture settings, and these sensors will judge how much moisture is in the load and adjust its time to dry accordingly. You can also save on energy costs by doing larger loads instead of smaller ones.

Make sure to also clean the lint traps and dryer ducts after every cycle. A clean lint trap ensures that the air is circulating. By regularly cleaning the filter and ducts, your dryer will run better and prevents fires.

You should also dry similar items together, such as sheets with sheets and towels with towels. And use the automatic setting rather than the timed setting.

When shopping for a new dryer, look for the energy star symbol and the moisture sense function. Many models such as LG, General Electric and Maytag have these and many more features.

Energy star appliances use 20% less energy than models without them.

Using the correct dryer size best suited for your situation also helps save on energy. Large families need a larger dryer than someone living on their own or with one other person.

Choosing the most suitable model for your home can be tricky even after you do your research. This is where Appliance Helpers comes in.
