Why is water in this pan underneath Subzero fridge overflowing?

Why is water in this pan underneath Subzero fridge overflowing?
Posted On: August 19, 2023

A few days ago we noticed a small puddle under the front edge of the fridge.

Didn't see any active ‘leaks' though.

Cleaned it up, and then for the next couple of days the puddle failed to reappear.

Today it reappeared, and after watching it closely, it seems the source is the black ‘pan' (as pictured) that seems to hold water.

The pan is full to the brim and water occasionally overflows out of it, forming the aforementioned puddle.

Anyone know the cause and solution here?

Question from user SkippytheCKCS at Appliances at reddit.

Answer:

There is a probably a heating element that works to evaporate the water in the pan.

The element may have failed.

That being said, water on the floor is the classic symptom of a failed defrost timer.

Is the freezer side cooling properly?

Source: replaced the defrost timer on my subzero fridge about four times.
